Poly Cone: The DXi series subs use a durable polymer composite
cone. The cone is both lightweight and rigid, and will withstand the harsh automobile
Butyl Rubber Surround: The butyl rubber surround is resistant
to extremes in temperature, humidity, and exposure to sunlight for excellent long
Dynamic Balance Driver Technology: Dynamic Balance is a
proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what
combination of speaker materials create the least resonance. Eliminating
resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.
Klippel Optimized: For a driver to reproduce complex sounds
accurately, the cone must move exactly the same distance and manner in both
directions. The Klippel distortion analyzer, a device that uses a laser and
sophisticated software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in motion, lets
Polk optimize the speaker's motor structure, voice coil alignment, and suspension
to yield the best possible performance.
Break-In Period: Subwoofers will achieve optimal performance
once they are thoroughly broken-in. To break in a new DXi sub play music through
it for 20 to 30 hours at moderate levels.
Sealed Box Volume: Polk recommends mounting this woofer in a
sealed enclosure with an internal volume of 0.88 cubic feet.
Ported Box Volume: Polk recommends a ported enclosure with
an internal volume of 1.5 cubic feet using a 4" diameter x 10" long
Bandpass Box Volume: Polk recommends a bandpass enclosure
with a 1.0 cubic foot sealed rear chamber and a 1.15 cubic foot ported front
chamber with 4" diameter x 12" long port.
