Precision woofers showcase your music
The Dxi460 speakers feature 4"x6" polymer/mica composite cones that are lightweight and stiff, so they can create a big sound with minimal distortion. Polk analyzes their drivers in motion to ensure that cone movement is even and precise. Polk also uses laser imaging to craft woofer cones that are perfectly balanced to resist distortion-causing resonances.

Silk/polymer dome tweeters broadcast sweet sound

Each 3/4" silk/polymer dome tweeter brings out the high-frequency highlights in your music, and a proprietary magnetic liquid cools each tweeter so you'll get clear sound and excellent long-term performance. The installation was very easy.

Pros: Easy install and price was reasonable

Cons: Speakers are small and not alot of volume. But that is what will fit into the stock location.

I love Polk Audio

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love these speakers! I installed these in my son's 2003 Wrangler. Polk Audio delivers incredibly rich sound without breaking the bank. The "plug n play" connectors make installation easy. They fit in the dash of my son's Jeep without any modification. There's no comparison between the sound of the factory speakers and these. I've owned similar quality speakers from a number of brand names and none of them sound as good as the Polk.

Pros: Incredible rich sound, cost, ease of installation (love the free plug n play connectors & brackets)

Cons: None

Fit well in Wrangler dash. Good improvement over old stock speakers, of course. Nice speaker at Crutchfield sale price. Guess I wasn't the only one who thought so - they're all gone now.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These replaced my original 1992 Suburban factory speakers that we're dry rotted, so a big improvement over the previous speakers. The quick guide provided a nice fit to the factory opening.

Pros: Easy to install with supplied hardware. Tab on speaker broke during installation and Crutchfield customer service was great in return and quick turn around of replacements.

Pros: price, sound quality

Good, clean sound and rugged design. These went in my Jeep Wrangler which sees it's fair share of environmental abuse. Thus far I couldn't be happier - I have the matching 6.5" of this polk series in the sound bar.

Pros: Rugged, good all around sound, cheap

Cons: None yet

Good quality product for the price. Sounds good.

Pros: good price, good quality, great value. May have purchaced better speakers but space for the left dash speaker limited my choices. In retrospec, no regrets.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

You really don't have too many choices if you are trying to replace OEM dash speakers in a GMC pickup. I had the previous model to these for 4 years before the surround split on one of them, causing a horrible buzz. They didn't make the model I had any more, so I went with these. They are the same as the others except for the cone material which is fine. They sound just as good. Just don't throw any bass at them or you will kill them. Cross them over at 300 Hz and use a subwoofer.

Pros: Fit right in with no mods necessary.

Cons: Can't handle much bass, but I knew that any 4 X 6 couldn't either.

Great speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Killer speakers, I lucked out and got them on sale as well, which made them an even better buy! They have decent low and awesome mid and high range! Even with the stock head unit in my wrangler they had great sound, now that I've upgraded to an Alpine head unit, the sound quality is out of this work, highly recommend these speakers, and as always, the Crutchfield team was great! Thanks to Logan for helping me with the little info I gave him!!!

Pros: Decent lows Great miss Great highs Easy install

Cons: None

good for price

evan from conway, AR on 2/18/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent for the price. Decent bass for the size, clear miss and highs. (Though I have a preference for silk tweeters to begin with) Very efficient. Even with a measles 14wpc from the head unit they still pumped out a decent amount of volume. Are they competition grade? No. Stellar? Eh. But for the price they can't be beat, period.

Pros: Sensitive, price, clear sound

Cons: Could have better bass Not free

I wish I would have gotten a lower Hz rating. These go down to 75Hz, which is ok if you have a ext sub. Fit well in the rear ceiling of my `06 Express van.

Pros: Fit, quality, crispness.

Cons: Lack of lows- I knew that when I ordered.

1990 silverado does not fit

jamieb from Raleigh, NC on 2/7/2014

1990 Chevrolet C Series
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers do not fit. They are too tall to sit properly into the dash, and the middle cone is too tall for the grill to seat properly. If you snug them down into the dash they warp the plastic dash upwards instead of pushing the duct downward, distorting the dash. Crutchfield, you've had 25 years to figure this out. I'm very disappointed. I gave them 3 stars because the one I tried sounded fair before I took it back out.

Pros: cheaper price

Cons: did not fit my application

Happy So Far

94 Chevy from California on 1/10/2014

1994 Chevrolet C Series
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed these in the dash of a 1994 Chevy k1500. They fit, barely. See below. The speakers themselves were installed with a 600hz bass blocker. So not much bass out of these guys but they sound so crisp and clean. They really shine versus the stock speakers. I would recommend these if your looking to add some good highs up front.

Pros: Look and feel like a quality speakers. The highs and mids have great clean sound.

Cons: The install was tricky. When you first set these in they sit about 1/4 about the mounting brackets. They are resting on the the channels for the front heating vents. You have to slowly put the mounting screws in each corner and tighten each one a little bit, and then go to the next one, etc. Otherwise you'll bend the speaker bracket. The factory grills rest right on top of the tweeter. It's a little snug in my opinion, but worth it for that sweet sound.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these speakers in the front of my 92 Chevy 1500 pick up to replace the original equipment. I just finished installing new Kenwood 152. The magnets were larger then original and required some persuasion to go in. But the speakers with new adapter cables were the ticket to good sound in this 21 year old truck. Thanks Crutchfield for great service.

Pros: see above

Cons: same

Better than Stock

Geoff from Salt Lake City, UT on 6/5/2013

2000 Jeep Wrangler
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I paired these (in the dash) with Polk DXi525 (in the soundbar). I was pleasantly surprised by the change from my stock speakers - they were 13 years old. They play louder before distorting (I'm sure the new head unit helps with that) and have a better range. They do leave me really wanting to add a sub, but alas, in a 2000 jeep wrangler, with as often as I'm using it with the seat out hauling what little I can, I don't have the space or inclination to to uninstall and reinstall a sub.

Pros: better than stock

Cons: not enough bass.

The speakers are great but I would suggest having someone else install them if you have an older Chevy c1500 standard cab like I do - the panels are impossible to remove without breaking them . Hey I learned how to plastic weld tho. ,

These speakers replace an older Polk product 462 . My pioneer radio that was Top of the Line in 1996 (DEH-8200) Threw DC voltage on my original Polks and burnt out both voice coil, These new speaker are going to work With the New JVC arsenal I just got from Crutchfield. THE New Polk's are a great speaker for the price!!! I really have not had a chance to tweak the radio and speakers yet, the new POLK' 4X6 should not get anything below 100-200 cycles, I may add a small 2 channel front amp with the high pass filter engaged, cheap way would be to add bass blocker caps.

Much Better than OEM Speakers

Brad L. from Chanute, KS on 4/7/2012

Replaced the OEM dash speakers in my '93 Chevy Suburban. These sound much better than the OEM speakers ever did. The fit is tight, but they do fit in the dash without modifications. connectors will only fit one way in the space avaialbe, but they do fit.Sound is good but my 22W per channel amplifer will overdrive these speakers at high volume settings. Overall they sound very good

Pros: Good quality sound, Fit, Nice installation instructions

Cons: Hey, these are 4x6 speakers, you can't expect them to sound as good as larger speakers at high volume levels

Product Research

High Efficiency Design: The Polk Audio DXi Series speakers feature a high efficiency design; meaning better sound and more volume using less power.

Dynamic Balance Driver Technology: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Klippel Optimized Components: For a driver to reproduce complex sounds accurately, the cone must move exactly the same distance and manner in both directions. The Klippel distortion analyzer, a device that uses a laser and sophisticated software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in motion, lets Polk optimize the speaker's motor structure, voice coil alignment, and suspension to yield the best possible performance.

Composite Cones: Each Polk DXi460 speaker features a Dynamic Balance, polymer/mica composite cone woofer. These composite cones feature tremendous stiffness-to mass ratio. Lower mass means faster transients and finer detail.

Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved durability, the speaker uses rubber surrounds.

Silk Dome Tweeters: Each Polk DXi 460 speaker features a 3/4" silk dome tweeter for clear, accurate highs. The tweeters employ a light-weight neodymium magnet for higher efficiency.
