Go ahead, circle the parking lot till your favorite song is over. Polk Audio's DXi Series speakers will make you want to hit "repeat" so you can hear it all over again. Polk uses a high-tech approach and ideal materials to give your tunes an exciting new edge.
The DXi651s speakers feature 6-1/2" polymer composite cones that are lightweight and stiff, so they can create a big sound with minimal distortion. Polk analyzes their drivers in motion to ensure that cone movement is even and precise. Polk also uses laser imaging to craft woofer cones that are perfectly balanced to resist distortion-causing resonances. Also, the speaker frame's just under 2" deep with a mounting height of under 1/2", so you can install them in many space-challenged vehicles.
Each 3/4" aluminum dome tweeter brings out the high-frequency highlights in your music, so you'll hear every detail of your most enthralling musical moments. From an intensely quiet acoustic pluck to the most exhilarating electric solo, it'll be a very entertaining ride.

The sound that the Polks put out. Makes the stock speakers sound weak. Im A happy camper.
Pros: Sound quality
Great sound from speakers! Now have distortion but feel it originates from someplace else. Need to diagnose.
Good sound and good range from highs to lows considering they are shallow mount speakers. They get decently loud before the sound quality starts to dwindle, but in an STi with shallow mount speakers, you can't expect a symphony. Overall I would recommend them as they are good for the money and if you have shallow doors.
Pros: On sale shallow mount customer service was great when I didn't know what I was doing Overall good sound
Cons: Shallow speakers in a virtually non-insulated car can only do so much They weren't free
I picked up these speakers on sale and was going back and forth between these and Kicker's. I installed them fairly easily in my 2011 Jeep Wrangler which was made easier by the included speaker adapter brackets and wiring harnesses. Currently I am running them through the stock head unit so there isn't much difference in sound but when I upgrade the HU and add an amp, I'm sure they'll really shine.
These replaced my blown speakers in my 2001 Subaru Outback. They sound really good and they were a perfect fit.
Pros: Sound great and very affordable.
Cons: Not a lot of bass, but the clarity cannot be beat.
clear vocals and awesome sound quality from the factory head unit, would buy again from Crutchfield
Honestly I thought these speakers would sound significantly better than stock but, it did not. Probably need a amp. I am able to turn up the volume without distortion.
Pros: Well made, nice looking speakers that handle high volume.
Cons: Not much difference from stock.
Installed these Polk Audio DXi651s in rear doors of my stock 2016 Ford F-150 Supercab. They provide very clear sound; however, they do not provide much bass. Given that they are a shallow mount speaker they sound good. If space allows I would recommend going with the Polk Audio DXi651 speaker, which should provide a bit more bass.
Pros: Clear sound. Easy install.
Cons: Not much bass.
These speaks are so much more crisp and clear than my stock speakers, 04 Outback Subaru. The only slight complaint I have is that I was hoping for better bass. I obviously don't have a subwoofer, so I guess I can't really complain about that. I will definitely consider getting another pair to replace the back speakers soon. The install was a little tricky because I had to reuse the stock mounting bracket, and it was an extremely tight fit on the new speakers. But that is nothing against the speakers, or Crutchfield. I really like Crutchfield and their customer support, it is awesome.
Pros: Crisp and clean sound Loud
Cons: Not as much bass as I hoped for
Easy install. Great sound. Improvement over OEM
Pros: Easy installation with deep base sound. Great fit with ability to use stock grilles in door.
Cons: Needed to slightly modify the spacer (drill out/enlarge out a single mounting hole on a tab.
Returned as they were to large to fit front doors, got the 5-1/2 instead, great speakers
Pros: great construction
Cons: too big for application
The speakers were easy to install and they sound great!
I purchased a set of Polk Audio DXi651s for my 99 Silverado LS 1500 Ext Cab and I'm very impressed with the pair so far. I ordered them on a Wednesday and they were delivered the next day well packaged with the free installation accessories as promised. Installation was pretty straight forward and the instructions were right on point. After getting the pair dialed in I was amazed at the sound quality highs & lows. I run a Pioneer Double Din Head Unit with a small power amp just for a little thump via a sub so my bass is perfect for my taste without all that crazy rattle. I'm so impressed with the these DXi651s I just ordered a pair of the Polk DB461p's for the rear stock replacements. For the $129.98 I paid for both sets it's sweet upgrade that delivers quality sound.
Unfortunately, the Polk speakers gave little to no change in performance over the stock Infiniti speakers I replaced. I suspect it's how the stock stereo feeds power but I was pretty clear that that was what I was doing. I hoped they were more efficient and had better range. No such luck. Oh well. They do appear to be more weather proof for the long run.
Replaced my deteriorated factory speakers in my 2002 Silverado with Polk Audi DXi651s. The sound quality has been drastically improved from stock. Even when my original speakers were brand new, there is absolutely no comparison! These Polk Audios blow the factory speakers clearly out of the water. The bass is tight and the mids and highs are very impressive from these two way speakers. I should have replaced my speakers a long time ago...
Installed into all 4 doors of my 2002 yukon xl, sound quality is outstanding, have used polk audio in the past and as usual they live up to their name. Product quality is outstanding.
Pros: Sound quality, ease of insallation with the help of exact install kit from crutchfield.
Cons: None at this time.
Another good example of the quality of Polk products. Some complain about the lack of bass but this is a 6.5" speaker. Bass level is acceptable for this size speaker and all around sound quality is very good. Overall a very good, affordable speaker.
works as expected pleased with them
Perfect fit in my Jeep
Polk Audio always delivers and the DXi651s are no exception. The difference between these and the factory Pioneers I had is astounding.
Pros: -Clear, crisp sound with excellent high/low balance -Nice punchy bass for a smaller speaker -Easy installation
Cons: -None so far
Once I got the install/setup dialed in these really sound good. Got them on sale but have had quality Polk speakers in the past.
Pros: good sound, don't distort at higher volume
The speakers in my 2003 Honda Element were falling apart due to age. The Polk speakers were an easy replacement for the front and back doors. I used the factory screws and holds. No cutting or drilling was required. Obviously the sound is improved after replacing the blown stock speakers but I expect they would much better with an aftermarket amp.
Pros: Easy install using factory screws No mount position modifications necessary Plenty of volume with factory amp
Cons: None encountered
I read some online reviews, mostly at other places, that indicated that these speakers would NOT sound as good as stock, or at least no better than stock. I beg to differ with that. While my stock speakers were definitely shot, there's no doubt that these speakers sound better than the factory ones ever did. The stock speakers didn't extend down too much into the bass region, and these speakers aren't the greatest down low either, but they are still much better than the stockers. Kit that came with them to install them was pretty straight forward and easy. I had all four speakers in crew cab installed in about 2 hours. Installing the rears takes the longest, because you have to literally pry the stockers off of the door...
Pros: Great sound Easy install Good kit / parts Get as loud as the old stockers, as near as I can tell
Cons: Lack a little in the bass area, but still better than the stockers.
They sound a lot better than the stock speakers I had, a lot clearer sound, as well as better quality, and could hear the music better at lower volumes.
Excellent Speaker using these with a pair of Polk Audio DB652 speakers. Sound great together.
Pros: Excellent Speakers! Good bass! Nice highs!
I purchased these speakers for my 1st gen Tacoma. They sound wayyy better than the stock speakers. The included installation brackets and wire harnesses made installation a breeze. Would definitely buy again. Crutchfield is always my go-to for audio or home electronics!
Pros: Slim, good sounding, easy to install
I have not had time to install the speakers yet but overall I am very pleased with the quality of the speaker it seems like a very solid deal
I am more than impressed by these new speakers! Completely applicable for a DIY and they surpass my expectations of quality.
Pros: Quick installation Stylish design High quality performance
Cons: Bracket installation
I installed four speakers in a crew cab. With the adapter plates and wire plugs it was a snap. The bose paper cones were starting to tear, it was time to upgrade. I only used the front adapter plates. The rear speakers screwed directly in place of the old ones. It would only take about an hour to install the speakers but I lubed the window slides and door lock parts (once again it was time for some maintenance and the door panels were off). So far they sound great, not much for bass but with the old bose system I left the sub in place and that fills the void on the lower end.
Pros: Crutchfield complete hardware kit makes install easy, Great sound for the dollar,
Cons: none so far!!
Great upgrade over the factory speaker. Sound is great across all level. Installation was a breeze thanks to the included bracket and wiring adaptors.
Replacement for OEM speakers as one of them had failed. Sound great, easy install.
Pros: Easy installation, perfect fit with adapter.
Cons: mounting clips that come with speakers will not work properly on the adapters, had to modify them, but no big deal.
Easy install on 2013 Ram. Sound is a great improvement over factory "Alpine" speakers.
Pros: Easy and sound great
This pair of speakers is a great replacement for the weak factory speakers in the roll-bar of a Jeep Wrangler. They are far more accurate with good bass response & tremendous clarity.
These little speakers sound great and are easy to install. I purchased these to upgrade the Pioneers that were OEM on my 2000 Honda CR-V, and I am extremely satisfied.
Pros: Easy to install, Great sound
Cons: None so far
Speakers work phenomenal. Definitely recommend them to anyone who wants to purchase them. The sound is very crispy and you can't go wrong with the price. Awesome!
I absolutely love these speakers the sound quality is unparalleled. Great clarity and deep bass.
Crutchfield did not offer OEM replacements for the rear-door mount speakers, but these were highly recommended and were almost an ideal replacement. The only alteration i had to make was to drill 3 1/8" screw holes in the area to mount the speakers. I'd estimate that after reading the step by step instructions - I may have spent 10 minutes per door. Really easy - and the electrical connections couldn't be simper - perfect match for the factory wiring harness. They sound great!
Pros: Easy to install - drill 3 1/8" holes in the mount and use the mounting hardware and wiring adapter for an easy project. A few minutes of your time to get great sound again in your car or truck. I'd say almost anyone can do this themselves.
Cons: These Polk Audio speakers have no cons that i can speak of.
Great product. They sound great with my stock stereo. Clean crisp audio, and I can crank up the volume way more than with stock speakers.
Pros: Work well with an old head unit with little power.
Cons: A little bit pricey
The rear door speakers on my 2013 Hyundai Elantra had started buzzing and needed to be replaced. I didn't want to add an amp or change the stock head unit, so the online Crutchfield rep suggested this pair. I bought them and had them installed at a local installer. These Polks sound much crisper than the old rear stock speakers and pair very well with the stock front component speakers. Only be warned that the bracket crutchfield includes with the order may not be the right size. Mine was not deep enough to fit the speaker flush with the door panel. Luckily the installer could use the stock bracket and just cut out the old speaker cones. Might suggest this if you run into the same issue.
Pros: Crisp sound, fits well as direct replacement, good price
Cons: None so far
Good solid sounding door speakers for the money.
Pros: I like the fact that they are Marine rated so if my windows are down and it rains it's no big deal.
Awesome product. Good sound for the price and easy installation
Pros: easy installation with adapters.
Cons: none at the moment
Replaced my factory speakers that had gone out on my truck. I had bought some polk 4x6 speakers about 10 years ago for a previous truck that I had. the 4x6 speakers would scream and sounded awesome!! For that reason I went with polk speakers again. These speakers sound good and have a clean sound. I gave a 4 star rating because they do lack some bass and do not quite live up to the previous speakers I had, but overall satisfied with the buy and the price. I got them on sale and replaced all 4 speakers.
Pros: clean sound
Cons: lack bass
Fantastic speaker , well built and great sound . Fit perfectly in the doors of my 2003 GMC Sierra . Very satisfied with the quality of the Polk speakers .
Pros: Perfect fit for my application .
Cons: They were not free !
Replaced factory speakers, which were dead. Nice clear highs, adequate bass
Pros: Easy fit. Good sound. Should be quite durable
Put in a 2011 Silverado.......the bass is so good I had to get something with more mids and highs for the back......Best speakers I have had in a long time
Pros: Bass Bass Bass
Cons: Little mid and highs
Awesome product . Great sound and easy install with the help of Crutchfield
The Crutchfield rep advised me on these Polk DXi650's and I couldn't be happier. They sound very clear and my OEM speakers were starting to "drum". The inner cone may have been letting loose. They happened to also be on sale , so how could I go wrong. The install kit and the wiring adapters to the GM harness made this install too easy.
Pros: Sound ,easy install and price.
These Polks are a great improvement over the OEM stock speakers, Crutchfield's install kit made it an easy install in Ford Trnasit doors which are very shallow.
Pros: Big improvement over Ford OEM speakers
The fine folks at Crutchfield had recommended these speakers to be decent replacement speakers to the factory-installed speakers that blew out in my Trailblazer several months ago. They were fairly easy to install - I didn't need the mounting brackets that were sent to me, and I probably could have saved the few added dollars and not had the Panel-removal tool sent to me as well, but for the sound quality that I was looking for, these will be perfect for me. I've already had them in my Trailblazer for a week now and I'm impressed with their sound.
Pros: Price, ease of installment, sound quality is "just right."
Cons: You will need to play with your "Bass" and "Tremble" settings if you're still using a factory-installed stereo, like I am. Once you get your settings just right (where you don't feel like you're listening to music through a paper towel roll), leave them where they are for all your music.
The sound of a set of speakers depend on much more than just the speakers. The housing and the preparation (sound deadening) of the housing can have a big impact on the sound of the speakers. The unit used to play the media in the speakers has a significant impact. And many other factors can effect the sound you get out of these or any speakers. Having said that I am satisfied with what I got for what I paid. I wish I could afford more on the power going to the speakers and the environment they were installed into (large square doors with metal on each side and only about 3" thick), but I am happy with these.
Pros: Clean looking
Cons: Installation instructions not great. An extra ring comes attached to the speakers. This ring is not mandatory to install. There was no indication that this was the case until I perplexed over taking it off and installing the speakers directly into my doors. Turned out that was the only way I could install them. There was no mention of this in the instructions. I spent about 30 extra minutes on the installation because of this.
These polls work great in my 2002 civic. They sound 10X better than the stock speakers. I would very much recommend these to someone looking for some speakers
Great sound even at high volume
Pros: Not too difficult to install, sounds clear not muggy
Cons: Doesn't produce that much bass, but its more based on crisp and clearness of sound.
These speakers sound great.
Pros: Just a great sound
Here's the skinny on these speakers. Build quality is nice but sound quality was weaker than I expected. There is no bass. Wish the rep had told me from the get go that I would need a sub, because I told him I like very loud music. Have to turn my Kenwood Excelon KDC-X599 volume to 27/35 which is 3/4 of the way (and too much) to get any kind of sound out of them. Very low bass will have an after rumble at this level. Not good. I hear a lot of good things about the customer service from Crutchfield. Frankly, I am disappointed. They may be good at returns and responsive to online chat, but the representatives don't give the best advice or a heads up to see what extras you'll really need for completion, IE. posi-connectors, slide connectors, more speaker wire, etc.
Pros: Nice quality, high signals
Cons: Bass, customer service
Some background - my car comes with Bose amp and speakers. Factory radio is not Bose. I installed a new Pioneer radio only, installed rear speakers a month later, and front speakers 2 weeks later, because I was working lots of overtime. That one month with the original Bose speakers - sound was great except for some portion of mid-bass, kind of boomy and there was some resonance that made some of the lower frequencies too loud. Installed back speakers, the mid-bass was "tighter". Installed front speakers, mid-bass became solid. The factory subwoofer provides the really deep bass, so for those expecting subwoofer performance from these are going to be disappointed. The highs are good, almost too good. Had to change EQ settings to reduce the high freqs. The factory tweeters in the dash complement these speakers - I can hear tambourines, cymbals, just like the band was in the car. To hear it at freeway speeds in my noisy car was a miracle. The "Marine Certified" feature of these speakers give me confidence for super-humid days (not in CA but elsewhere in the USA) and possible rain leaking into the door, as well as longevity of sound quality.
Pros: If you're starting with a non-Bose speaker/amp combo. the improvement will be tremendous. If you already have a Bose sound system, you get a refinement equal to some of the best factory provided units (leave the $2K - $5K optional cost factory units out of this comparison). But then I didn't have to spend four figures of $$$ to get great sound.
Cons: Installation in front doors was a pain.
Had heard good things about Polk and these fit so I ordered up a set. as soon as I mounted them I knew they were to bright and produce no bass. I know my factory head unit is spitting out high treble but these were just to much and didn't compensate with any bass. they do look like they are made well and the mounting was easy and came with everything I needed but they just didn't suit my taste or system in my 2015 challenger base radio. Crutchfield swapped them out with no question and I got a set that sound better to my Ear.
Pros: easy install, nice quality.
Cons: to bright to my ear with no bass to compensate. they went back!
The Polk DXi 651s speakers are ok. They have excellent clarity but the mid bass response is very poor in my opinion. I have heard stock car systems with more mid bass. I waited until I got an amplifier to review these speakers because I feel like you can't properly judge a speaker unless it's properly amplified. These speakers are power hungry and they handle the power ok but not as good as you would think a set of speakers for this price would. Also, you really only need one set of these because you don't even notice the rear set. You definitely need a subwoofer with these speakers to enjoy them. I would recommend 1 set of these, a subwoofer and a 4 channel amp instead of buying an extra set for the rear. If you like midbass, these speakers aren't for you no matter who recommends them. They will only give you so much midbass maybe because they're shallow mount, I'm not sure. I got these on sale from Crutchfield, so I'm ok with them, but if I had paid full price for the pair I would be very unhappy. I hope this review helps, I tried to be as honest as possible.
Pros: Great tweeter and clarity
Cons: Very poor midbass even with an amplifier
Install wasn't too bad (for a car audio rookie). Very satisfied with the rich sound the Polk speakers produce. Everything is clear and the bass is enough for us!
I bought 2 pair and replaced all 4 factory speakers in my 2001 suburban. They sound great and made a great difference. First time to ever install after market speakers and it wasn't difficult, if I can do it, anyone can.
Installed in 2007 Chevy Colorado, Front Only, Easy Install, All Parts Shipped Promptly, Highly Recommend Crutchfield, Very happy w/ purchase & transaction!
Pros: Great Sound
Cons: Minor Installation Adjustments Required
Great sounding speaker, easy install, great price.
Pros: Great sound
Installed these speakers in a '99 Silverado in a little over an hour. With the installation kits and on line instructions.... it's a snap. I've installed many audio upgrades in Miatas to vans, Crutchfield is where i go for the equipment I install. The Polk speakers sound great .Far better than stock.
Pros: Great sound for the price.
Cons: An amp would help with a factory head unit to get the bass booming
Thy fit great and sound 100 times better than the factory speakers
Pros: Good fit great sound
Cons: None found
Replaced factory speakers in 99 Saturn SL2 and sound great. Very easy to install with supplied mounting adapter and wiring harness - less than 2 hours for front speakers
Pros: Good low cost speakers that sound great.
Installed these speakers in my 2013 Ram 1500 Crew Cab. All 4 doors had stock 6x9's. I had already replaced my stock head unit with a Jensen DVD, Nav, and Sat with a 6.5 inch screen that I also purchased from Cruthfield which has EQ settings and a loudness button which does these speakers justice over the stock unit.
Pros: With the mounts and wires that come free with the speaker purchase I had the old speakers out and these new Polk Audios in, in 15 minutes per door.
I've always had good results with Polk products. Excellent bang for the buck. Replaced my stock 6x9 speakers in my 2015 Ram 1500 R/T regular cab. Big improvement over the factory...which isn't hard to do. These speakers could benefit from an amp, as the factory Alpine H/U doesn't do them justice. Then again, if were going that route I would use higher-end components. There is zero distortion at max volume. This was a nice low budget upgrade for my truck.
Pros: Slim mount. Decent quality for the price.
Cons: None at this price point.
Bought this product to replace in my 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. Was very easy to install and sounds better. A special thanks to the Crutchfield team for providing all the extra parts to make it a easy install.
Very clear and loud sound! I love polk audio and these speakers had a great sale running on them. Since the wiring adapters for installation in the panel was complimentary with my crutchfield order install went perfectly. They sound truly amazing, especially compared to my factory speakers.
Replaced the tired factory speakers in my 98 Chrysler Cirrus with these in the front doors. I had always been surprised that the stock speakers had the bass that they did, but boy did they suck in the mids and highs. These Polk DXi651's are awesome sounding! The mids and highs are back, and paired with the DXi691's (mounted in the back) you get good bass while not sub level, is very respectable. I was not looking to blow the windows out with bass, and find the tonal balance to be spot on. I have long been a fan of Polk speakers and these do not disappoint.
Pros: Good performance from a 2-way speaker. If this is all you are going to use, you will need to augment the bass (I used the DXi691 6x9's on the back). Otherwise these are great speakers.
Awesome sound, easy installation, would highly recommend.
Pros: Price point
I initially installed these in the doors of my F250. The sound was flat and dull. I replaced them with a cheaper set of Kickers that have a little less bass but much better clarity and presence.
Pros: Well made, decent bass for the size.
Cons: They sound dull and lifeless
This speaker is very good, I bought this speaker as a replacement for my 1995 Toyota corolla rear speaker. Sound best than the factory ones
I replaced factory 5 1/4" speakers in my 99 Cherokee, and these are WAY better, they're awesome, highly recommend these to anyone.
Pros: They just sound great.
Cons: Nope, can't think of any.
Nice speakers handles high volume well
Recently installed these in my 96 chevy truck , they fit great with the mounting brackets and wiring adapters supplied . Good quality construction and sound nice and clear . Although there could be a stronger bass , which you could probably get by adding the right equipment . I do have to turn the volume up louder than I had to with the old factory speakers . This does result in a clearer , better sound . Over all I would say this was and is a good buy for the money.
Pros: Clearer overall sound . Fit perfect in front doors ( with adapter brackets ) . Which were supplied along with wiring connectors at no charge . No cutting factory wires , just plug in .
Cons: Don't really have any for now.
Running these of an aftermarket HU without an amp. With that being said, highs are great, seems to be focused more in the mids vs the bass. Bass is decent (could be better with an amp). Seems to be high quality made
Pros: Highs Quality
Cons: Bass is okay
Replaced the failed front speakers in my 2007 Silverado with these, as recommended by Crutchfield. Only the separate tweeters were working in the original configurations so I left them active. The fit perfect and sound exceptional. Very, very satisfied. I read reviews where the bass was lacking but I have no complaints. Nice, rich bass and midrange and tweeter sections are clear as well.
Pros: Factory mounting plate included Wiring adapter included Have a nice quality look and feel Nice bass, better than I expected. Highly recommended, great value for the money Stock speakers are garbage compared to these
Cons: I can't think of any. We'll see how long they last.
Been a Polk fan for many years, but was not impressed by these purchased to replace OEM in my 2015 Subaru Outback. They are cleaner, more clear, fuller and warmer sounding over the stock speakers. Unfortunately, to get any sound out of them I have to turn up the volume much farther than I did with stockers and it's only at these volumes that I can finally hear any bass. Even then, it's still really weak. So, it's either purchase a subwoofer right away (which I didn't want to because I'm trying to make modifications elsewhere) or I send these back and buy the Subaru/Kicker upgrade kit that has a better sensitivity rating (which I really don't feel like doing). Overall I rate them 2.5, halfway, cuz while they are an improvement they also need more power or subwoofer for acceptable levels of sound.
Pros: clear, full, warm
Cons: no bass, takes a lot more power to get moving
This company is amazing! I had to buy speakers for my daughter's Honda Civic and have never bought speakers before. Crutchfield was recommended by my service guy. Ordering was simple with the Chat feature. I talked to two different employees and both were exceptionally helpful and made me feel confortable. I was told they would arrive before Christmas, and because I ordered them a few days before Christmas I didn't hold my breath. I imagined my daughter opening a box with a picture of the speakers on Christmas morning. Someone knocked on my door at 4 o'clock on Christmas Eve and my Fed Ex man handed me a package - the speakers. I almost fell in the floor. We just had them put in and she is really enjoying them. Thank You!
Pros: The experience from start to finish
I purchased two pairs of these speakers to replace the stock speakers in a 1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ. If you own an XJ then you know that the stock speaks are cheap, weak and lacking in every sense. These Polk speakers are larger than the stock speakers, yet they still fit the space available. The only issue I encountered was with the front passenger door - the panel rested against the speaker. I had to create a buffer space between the speaker and the panel, but that has nothing to do with the speaker itself. Sound-wise, the speakers are nice. They are louder than the stock XJ speakers, and much more clear. Don't expect much bass from these little guys. Also, these speakers need to be broken in before they sound proper. Within 3 or 4 hours of constant playing, they finally found their sound. Great replacement speaker for an XJ. Don't forget to include the wiring harness adapter.
Pros: Balanced sound. Good build quality.
Cons: Mediocre low-end.
Gotta love good sound. The install was simple with some difficulties screwing the speakers on to the brackets. But that is not worth taking away from the quality of these speakers. I had them installed without a subwoofer for about a week and I really liked the upgrade of the stock system just with these speakers. The sound really good!
Pros: Sound and price, got them on sale!
Cons: screwing them on the brackets is a bit tough. But that is not really the speakers fault.
They were exactly the same depth as the stock speakers in my 1993 Accord. Would also be excellent in Subarus and other vehicles that require slim mount speakers. I wish there was more of a choice in the slim speaker market, but this is a great speaker. Always have been impressed with Polk.
Pros: Exactly the same depth as typical oem speakers Great sound Great build quality
I think that these are good speakers for the amount paid, I'm sure you could spend more and get slightly better sound but these are good for what I'm trying to accomplish.
Pros: Good sound for price paid.
Cons: None yet
they work great! i love the highs and the mid that this speaker has to offer. very clear precise sound.
Pros: sound quality, price, good mid and high
Great speakers for not being a component set, sounds great and the price is very good. Im a long time Polk fan and these speakers did not disappoint - put a total of 4 in my Yukon to replace the Bose factory speakers.
Pros: Marine rated! Attractive and sound great.
Speakers delivered exactly what I was hoping for - anticipate dyna matting doors, cab floor and rear wall which will only enhance the experience
Pros: Sound quality, installation, Crutchfield's knowledgeable people and free installation bits
Good speaker set. Really good sound for the money and shallow mount makes installation possible in tight places. Would buy again.
Pros: Sound, mounting depth.
Very happy with these, especially for the price. I put these in my rear doors since only a shallow speaker would fit. DXi651 in front doors. Saturn Outlook.
The speakers were easy to install with the supplied hardware from Crutchfield. There were no instructions on how to remove the front door panels on my 2011 Camry so I bought a repair manual which had good instructions. The speakers sound great, a lot better that the stock speakers.
Pros: Great sound. Easy to install with supplied hardware.
Cons: No specific installation instructions for the 2011 Camry.
Easy install, Fits great and sounds great. No issues what so ever.
Pros: Easy install. Sound great
Great sound for a 2-way speaker. Much cleaner, brighter sound than stock. Installed in Ram 3500 rear doors. Simple install other than drilling doors for unmatched mounting holes.
Pros: Great sound and value.
Cons: Not an exact replacement due to speaker mounting holes compared to stock. Minor issue.
I replaced these with front and rear door Toyota prius II 2014 (No JBL) and improvement is huge. Not much power is going to the rear doors of prius by default but at the front it made a world of difference. Installation was easy with adaptors crutchfield sent with them.
Great sounding speakers and easy to install. I would recommend them to anyone!
Pros: Durable Easy hook up
Great upgrade! Put these in back of car for 2014 Kia Optima and a big difference. Sound before was "stuffy nose" sou ding and not good. Now you can hear the highs and lows clear sounding.
Pros: Great soun.and priced right.
These speakers were purchased to replace my stock Honda Accord Speakers. After ran off of head unit power (50 watts) for 3 months... the right speakers tweeter completely gave out and only plays mids. The left speaker now distorts at low volume so i don't bother turning them up. Replacing ASAP.
Pros: Clear audio at first.
Cons: Easily ruined.
Installation was easy. No issues. Works well.
You can't go wrong with Polk Audio speakers. I'm never disappointed with the sound.
Great sound quality especially for the price!!!!!
Got these for the sound bar in my Jeep Wrangler unlimited, had to make some modifications to the brackets to fit and after I stuffed the sound bar with poly fill they sound pretty good.
Pros: Crisp sound at an affordable price.
I ordered these for my 2013 Nissan Versa SV they were installed very easy with the included stuff that was provided by Crutchfield. I used them with the bog standard stereo for about an month they were good but the stock stereo just didn't do it for me so I got a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X898 and that baby really opened them up the Blu-tooth and some high quality mp3 songs really liven them up. The other reviews are right they don't have a ton of bass and don't have have a "boomy" sound at all, the bass is tight and punchy and really only audible at mid to high volumes which is what I happen to like. If you are looking for the ultimate bass stay away if you want the ultimate clarity then these are for you........
Polk Audio speakers sound great in my 2008 Mdx front driver and passenger.
Great affordable crisp clear speakers. As always, Polk quality. They're not my first brand choice, but I needed a shallow speaker, and they afforded the quality I demand in the space I had to work with. Clean and clear. Installed four of these in the car, and paired them with a small powered subwoofer under the seat. The midrange and highs they add complement well. I knew Polk wasn't as punchy with the bass response as other brands, but I knew it would work with the sub.
Pros: Great clarity and quality at a reasonable price.
Cons: Not a lot of punch on the bass, but you're never going to get a lot with a 6.5" coaxial anyway. Would definitely recommend if paired with a subwoofer.
Crisp sound just over all awesome I made a great choice of picking these would recommend these to everyone they're worth every penny
These two speakers were installed in the front of a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. Supplied instructions were more than adequate. The passenger side speaker was quite easy, with the driver side being much more difficult. The universal speaker adapter required minor modification, made easier with a dremmel tool. I packed the speaker pods with poly fill. I used loc tite to attach the speaker adapters to the pods because I did not the screws working loose. I than removed the overhead speakers and packed them with poly fill as well. Overall degree of difficulty installation was moderate.
Pros: Speakers sound excellant. Must have tools are the dremmel with attachments and a quarter inch drive socket with extension.Well worth the effort. These speakers are powered by a Kenwood DDX 371. I balanced the speakers to better distribute the sound between the overhead and front speakers.
Arrived quickly with all the parts needed. Struggled to get power locks working after install, but not Crutchfield's fault. Sound good, but don't have great bass. Frequency response is 50 Hz, not 20, my oversight.
Pros: Quality speaker, slick install with provided parts.
Cons: Weak on bass.
Good fit in rear deck of 2007 Honda Civic Coupe
Great product! Excellent quality speaker for the price.
Pros: Fit nicely in the opening on the door for my Mustang. The other ones that were in there were too big and would not allow the door panel to fully set in properly. These fit perfectly with no bulges in the door panel.
Used these to replace the OEM speakers in the rear deck of a 2001 Malibu. They are paired with Polk's DXi461p in the front doors, and an Infinity powered sub. I'm using a Kenwood head unit to drive it all. Crutchfield did its usualy excellent job of providing the adapter plate and cabling to make installation a snap. Testing these speakers with a full spectrum signal (just to see how the sound) showed that they were rather lacking in the bass ranges. Since I have a powered sub for that, it really didn't matter to me and I set the x-overs to not feed bass to these speakers. The mids and highs sound great. If I go crazy with the sub levels, it distorts the rear speakers so I think I might need to devise a way to separate the airspace in the trunk from the back side of these speakers. Not the fault of these speakers, but might be something to consider.
Pros: Great mids and highs Easy install thanks to Crutchfield
Cons: Weak bass
Perfect fit for both Front (no window issues) & Rear speakers. I have an 03' Pontiac Vibe, (moon & toons pkg with amp under passgt seat) lot of info on genvibe website of how to make replacement speakers fit, with various ingenious little tweaks.......all needless! IF, you order these speakers from Crutchfield with free supplied mounting bracket, and the wiring harness ...which is icing on the cake! Zero modifications, yes you have to actually look at it, and spin the mounting bracket till it lines up with holes....c'mon fellow reviewers get a brain. You also will have to clip off 1-2 extra tabs that stick out on sides of bracket, but they are made for removal if not being used. Plug and play doesn't get any easier! I got the Dxi651s, on sale, so might want to watch for price changes.
Pros: Ease of fit on pontiac vibe
Cons: Not super base...but not expected.
My used Silverado had completely blown-out speakers when I bought it. These speakers sound fantastically clean. I am a jazz musician who appreciates hearing the sizzle of the high hat, even when I am hauling.
Pros: Nice flat sound.
Cons: None noted
pretty easy to install. took a while because i didn't know what i was doing but the instructions made it some what easy once i figured it all out. in all its a good product husband is happy and sound great.
I put these in the front doors of a 2002 Nissan Frontier, replacing the stock speakers. Installation was a little convoluted, but that was because I chose to modify the factory blown speakers into brackets for these. They fit behind the stock door grilles just fine. Sound is pretty good. Not a lot of real low-end, but plenty for a 6 1/2". The top end is a little muted, but that could also be due to the position in the bottom of the door panels. I kept the factory tweeters hooked up to give a little more sparkle. These speakers work well listening to rock, blues and country, but not so much with EDM or dubstep. The regular driver of the truck is into blues and blues-rock, and is more than happy with these speakers.
Pros: Shallow depth. Easy, one piece installation with no "gotcha's" or other pitfalls. Sound really good for delta blues, rock, jazz and country. Made the truck's owner very happy.
Cons: Not so good for dance music or dubstep. Not a whole lot of low end. Treble is somewhat muted and doesn't seem to sparkle.
Needed a low-profile speaker for the doors in my truck to replace a pair of blow MTX 6.5s. The sound is clear and detailed at all volume levels and will probably improve as the speakers break in. I have these paired with a Pioneer DEHX8600.
Pros: Price (on sale), mounting gasket included, easy mounting and installation.
Cons: Tweeter is fixed and cannot be angled to face listener.
Great sound and great buy
Pros: Sounds goo. Installed easy
This set is amazing. Mids and highs are great. Bass isn't crazy good, but that's not what component speaks are made for. Just to add, as for all speakers, there is a break in time. It will take some time before they can reach there full potential. But when they do, they are great.
I like the sound of the speakers very much.
Pros: sound quality
Purchased on recommendation of Crutchfield. Prior orders had excellent instructions. Received -0- this time. Speaker did not fit factory speaker bracket which has to be used. Once cobbled together something, door panel won't snap flush due to speaker being out 1/16 of inch or so farther than stock
Cons: sound is no better than the factory speaker I replacedCrutchfield response on 6/10/2014 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Sounds great but the installation instructions do not indicate the gasket is not required or usable in my 2002 Continental. Also the instructions do not tell you the speaker mounting holes will not line up with OEM holes. You must drill 1-2 holes in your OEM bracket for fitment
Pros: Sounds great
Cons: Installation instructions insufficient.
I purchased these speakers as replacements for the factory front door speakers in 1999 Chevy Silverado Truck. They sound really good and are an enhancement to the factory radio I have in the truck now. They were fairly easy to install and included the adapter brackets and the speaker wire pigtail when I purchased them. They also included installation instructions too.
Pros: Good sound, easy to install.
Big sound upgrade from manufacturer speakers in Nissan Altima. Would buy again!
Pros: Clear sound, good bass and treble.
Bought these based primarily on mostly very favorable reviews on this site as well as Polk Audio's alleged stellar stereo speaker reputation. These were front door speaker replacements for the factory crap in my 2009 Honda Civic. I have not replaced the factory in-dash stereo/cd receiver at this writing, but was still very hopeful of greatly improved sound quality from these. Alas, it wasn't to be. After a bit of a struggle with the installation, I proudly fired up the tunes and.....sigh. Frankly, these are just a LITTLE better sounding to my ears than the thin, paper cone, near weightless factory speakers, but not nearly as much as I'd hoped. I realize a new, better head unit should significantly improve the listening experience. BUT, if you aren't replacing your factory HU, don''t expect a quantum leap in sound. These are slightly more clear in the treble and mid-range, but again nothing to write home about. Color me unimpressed at this time but hopeful of better times ahead: Better input should equal better output...
I installed a pair of these speakers in the rear doors of my 07' Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab truck. These were a direct replacement for the original speakers. No kit was needed to install in the doors. Great sound coming from the back of my cab now.
Pros: Easy to install, comes with replacement clips and screws. Fantastic sound and powerful speakers with oversize magnets.
Excellent Upgrade to the stock CD/Radio. Even Better with Kenwood Excelon KDC-498. Crisp, clear, and plenty of Bass.Highly recommended. It was a Good Sale Price for the Quality speaker it is.
Not impressed. Highs are cracked, mids are muddled and lows are so distorted I had to adjust my kenwood deck to send none, zilch, nada for bass. These speakers are terrible. Can't belive all the good reviews for these things. I own Polk home stereo equipment and even they were embarrassed when I turned up the volume. Pass on these, you'll be happy you did
Pros: Didn't fit
Cons: Terrible sound
Upgraded my factory speakers on a 99 Silverado. Very easy to install with the materials provided. Sound good with the Alpine head unit and inline amp I also purchased.
Pros: Easy to install. Good value for the price.
Purchased these speakers to replace the speakers in my Daughters new Honda Fit. Once installed, my daughters was smiling ear to ear. She said "I can hear the artist breathing". Was such an improvement over the factory speakers which were made of a plastic cone and a magnet so small it didn't react to metal. Thank you to the staff who were very personable and answered all my questions on the installation. After supervising the installation of the1st speaker my daughter installed the other three speakers herself. They sound sooo much better than factory. Thank you for the great recommendation on the speaker and the excellent service.
Pros: Sound great. Low bass is a little light but for this price and the clarity of the sound of the speakers its a great deal!
Cons: Had to slightly modify a bracket but no big deal.
Installed these in the front doors of a 2014 Tundra, the speakers came with the wiring harness, and the adapter plate. Installation was easy and the sound is a huge improvement over the stock speakers! Very happy with my purchase
Pros: Polk makes a great product and I really love my much improved sound even with the stock HU. Crutchfield putting together a turn key system, price was very fair for what I recieved
These speakers are fantastic. I finally replaced my stock speakers since one of them was blown. I fooled myself for a few years while I thought my amp and subs paired with the stock was more than sufficient. Upon hooking these bad boys up, I was easily able to tell the difference! I have them hooked up to my aftermarket head unit, an above par one, and they sound great. I am sure they would sound better or louder if hooked up to an amp, but I don't need my ears to bleed, lol. A great price for some superb speakers, don't hesitate to pick a pair up!
Pros: High quality, great sound, and Polk Audio which are well known for just that. No distortion to almost peak level, I highly recommend!
Cons: The only con is that I didn't take the plunge sooner. No cons with the speakers at all.
I installed these in the dash and sound bar of my 2014 Jeep JK. With a little poly fill in the sound bar these speakers sound great!
Pros: Great sound
These speakers replaced the front-door units in my 1500 Suburban, which had previously been replaced with Pioneer 5.5" speakers several years ago. These are MUCH better speakers; they are more-accurate, the treble is nicely-balanced and the midrange is not shrill or out-of-place. The only complaint is that bass can be a bit thin, but that's to be expected with this size of a driver -- if you really want deep bass, you need a sub -- period. (Mine is out in the truck, which I need to fix.) IMHO they're a decent deal at their "regular" price, but a very good deal when on sale. The provided brackets were zero-hassle on installation as were the harnesses. True plug-n-play; I was done installing them within 20 minutes. The stock head unit is able to drive them to reasonable, but not LOUD, levels. If you want real loud you're going to need an amp, but for reasonable listening levels the standard head unit is fine, unlike many other speakers that simply can't get themselves off the floor without external amplified power. Can you do better? Sure. How much money do you have? These hit a nice sweet spot between "cheap" and "ok, that's expensive" while delivering a clear, well-balanced sound-stage. For the asking price I like these a lot and when they go on sale the next time around I'll stick another set in the rear doors - and may do my other car with them too.
Pros: Nice, even soundstage. Well-balanced between mid-bass, midrange and treble.
Cons: They're capable of more than a stock head unit can deliver. Get a sub and high-pass crossover to get the bass off these and into the sub, along with separate amplification, and I suspect these will REALLY wake up.
Speakers sound great. Easy to install w/ adapters. Price was great and service was also great.
Pros: Sound quality, Price, Ease of installation.
Decent soud for a slim mount speaker. Very crisp highs and adequate bass. Great price point and Polk quality.
Pros: Reasonable price for the wattage handled
Cons: Not a big bass speaker
Installed these in my 2011 Jetta to replace a blown stocker. These sound great. Not a ton of Bass but wasn't expecting that. These will set the system off when I install a sub. Stock deck pushes these speakers great! Getting a pair for the rear for sure!
Pros: Great sounding speakers. Reasonable price, big upgrade from stock.
Cons: No a lot of bass
i installed these speakers 3 months ago and i waited after the break in period to write this. these speakers rock. i have them running off a kenwood kdc-397 excelon headunit and it powers them just fine. i dont see where an amp would help them very much but with with the bass boost all the way off and the bass level at -8 they still shake the mirrors. they have a great sound and dont distort at all.
Pros: everything. powerful highs and mids.
Cons: doesnt handle lows to great
Good upgrade from stock speakers.
picked these up for a good price. have good highs and mid, but lack bass. maybe if i add a amp it may help, we'll see later.will up date then.
Pros: good price on sale , ok sound
Cons: lack bass
These fit in the stock pods on my 03 TJ without modification. I went with the higher priced aluminum tweeter version (the ones I am reviewing) thinking they would produce crisper highs when riding with top off my Jeep. I wasn't real impressed with that aspect. They do however sound good. I would buy the less expensive version of these if I had it to do over again. That being said, I don't have that set to listen to so they may not be any better and may in fact be worse. These speakers replaced 5.25" KickerDS525's and really have a MUCH warmer/fuller midrange than the kickers had. They are bigger so that may be a factor. They fit without modification into the stock openings and I was able to use the original oem screws for mounting. I elected to use the Polk covers as opposed to stock because the built-up area where the screws go through the stock covers was in contact with the foam portion of the speaker. I was afraid this would be detrimental to the integrity of the speaker over long term. The Polk covers take up a lot of real estate on the pods and I wish they were designed to be a little less conspicuous. Overall these speakers produce a warm clear sound and handle my 20W RMS x 4 head unit very well. I am able to turn the volume 6 points higher than with the kickers before distortion. I am using these with a JVC KDX250BT Head Unit, Kenwood KSC-SW11 Powered Sub Woofer (that fits nicely under my back seat), and Polk DXi461p for front.
Pros: Nice warm sound with great midrange.
i replace my car front speakers with polk audio speakers and i was blown away with the quality sound of these speakers, they sound awesome !!!!! i just which i would of exchange my back speaker with Polk instead of Sony :( i have been recommending to everyone i know of the quality of these speakers....in my opinion there number one....
Pros: best speakers ever !!!!!
Sound great in my 06 Harley Electra Glide
Replaced 6" Kickers I installed in the dash of my 2012 Jeep Wrangler with the Polks. Polk DXi651s have good lows, great mids, crisp and clear sound....they sound fantastic
I have these speakers in the front and rear doors of my 2003 Subaru Legacy. The fronts are a perfect factory replacement, while the tears require a little trimming for clearance on the inside of the door. With Crutchfield's great instructions, the total install took less than an hour for both sets. These are sensitive speakers and sound great running off the deck. They are a little bright out of the box, but a short break in period really balanced them out. I am very pleased with my purchase. I have about a year of hard use on them now. I push them to their limit and these speakers still sound great. Hard to beat for the money.
Pros: Price, Value, Sound, Durability
Cons: Not much to complain about.
Crisp, clear sound! Put these in the back doors of my truck, and 6x9 DXI690 Polks in the front doors and they sound fantastic! I'm very pleased!
Pros: Great sound!
Polk Audio DXi651s speakers were the best choice for the doors in my 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 due to depth space in the doors. I had previously bought a pair of 6x9 Kickers that were supposed to fit but were a full inch too deep. I have been a fan of Polk for a long time and these speakers didn't disappoint. They sound much better than the other two sets of Kickers I installed front and rear.
Pros: Sound reproduction capability Quality of fit and finish Ease of installation
Cons: Higher quality costs more - enough said.
Excellent sound quality
Installed these in my 2005 Cobalt along with a pair of DXI690s. I'm running them off the stock head unit and the mids and highs sound great on them, however there is very little coming from the bass department. Luckily the DXI690s in the rear make up for lack of bass in these. Major improvement over stock, and a decent pair of speakers for the price.
Pros: Sound clarity
Cons: Could offer better bass
Nice speakers 5 STARS !!!
Purchased these speakers for the door of my 99 silverado. I have two of these with a JL10 powered with a JBL 3 channel amp. These things sound good and are loud. Others have complained about no bass, I purchased them for mid and highs so didnt want bass. I love the mid range of these speakers, would like to have a little more from the tweeters but still not bad. They were a great addition to my system.
Pros: Just good speakers, nothing really off the chart special. Came with mounting screws and nicely packaged.
Cons: Could use a little more highs.
Replaced rear speakers in an Element. Used the shallow mount, and no issues with installation. Did not have to cut the rear speaker protection shell. Wiring adapter was perfect fit. I still have the OEM head unit, so the speakers are not really maximized. these are not big bass producers, but nice mid to high ends. Slightly above factory speakers. Caught them on sale, so I'm satisfied.
Pros: Easy to install. No modification required. Plug and play. Nice high end. sale price makes them a reasonable purchase.
Cons: Weak bass. Really require head unit update to maximize.
Theese speakers are really great not much bass but the mid range and tweeters are amazing I have 4 of them and omg they're pretty loud lol....They sound so clear I have them in a 09 accord sedan So im happy
Pros: Clear amazing sound
Cons: No bass but dnt need it cuz i have a bannpass box so I dnt mind
I replaced my stock speakers in my Chevy HHR, which were pretty much junk, with the Polk DXi651s. The Polks are a good all-a-round good speaker for the money. If you are using them with a stock head unit don't expect a lot of accurate bass. If you run a sub with a aftermarket head unit then these Polks do a pretty fine job. The high's are a little harsh sounding but not bad for the money.
Pros: Good speaker for the money....
Cons: Highs are a little harsh sounding
I got these to replace my stock speakers that shorted out . I still have the stock Chevrolet stereo system and the new speakers sound very nice with it. Installation was literally a snap on my Sliverado using the speaker brackets. No drilling at all just snap the speakers into place along with the wiring harness that were supplied free with the speakers I didn't have to splice into the wiring harness just plug right into the stock harness.
Pros: Sound great with my stock stereo. The installation could not have been any easier
It's tough to give a rating to speakers because of the natural bias. Does it sound better than the factory speakers? Well, how old is the car? What kind of car is it? Does it sound better than more expensive speakers? Are you still using the factory stereo? With that in mind, I gave these 5/5. My 2005 Saturn Vue isn't the quietest vehicle around and while I have put in sound-deadening in the doors and hatch, the interior noise on the interstate is still noticeable. I had already replaced with factory dash stereo with a nice mid-price JVC unit and heard some improvement. Time for new speakers. This takes me to last night and installing Polk DXi650s's as replacements for my four door speakers. My Vue additionally came with tweeters on the front pillar which are still factory. After the install, I popped in a rock CD with good dynamic range across songs and was very happy with the results. The bass presence and clarity was top-notch. I was also hearing more nuances in the mid-range. Between the JVC stereo and the Polk speakers, I'm rockin' to my rock, thumpin' to my techo, and jamming to my jazz.
Pros: Great low end. Great mid-range.
Cons: Polk's manual has one picture of how the speaker should be put into a door. Only a picture, which isn't too bad except there are more holes than screws by the time you include the adapter, speaker, and grille. If you are putting these into a door or other area which already has a grille, don't mess with the Polk grille. That's what i opted to do.
WOW GREAT UPGRADE FROM BLOWN STOCKS 2 ROCKIN AGAIN
Cons: FRONT MOUNTS WERE A LITTLE TIGHT
These speakers lack power overall. The mids were clear however the highs and lows were missing clarity and power.
Pros: Clean Design, easy to install
Cons: No low or highs
The sound isn't much better than stock in my 08 sebring. The 3'1/2 JL's I have in the front make my treble crisp. These were not a big difference from stock to upgrade. Still sound pretty good
Pros: Bought them from Crutchfield
Cons: Don't expect a huge difference in sound
Nice. These speakers were installed as the rear speakers in a 2002 Subaru Outback. They were a direct drop in for the factory speaker brackets. Really good sound with tight base.
Pros: Very easy installation Great sound
Cons: Cutting out the back of the factory brackets to accommodate these speakers was a pain (but expected thanks to Crutchfield's product notes)
Purchased to replace factory speakers in Nissan Versa. Disappointed In bass and fullness of sound.
Pros: Easy install with support documentation.
Cons: Just not what I expected for full sound. Factory speakers were much better.
Slim design with a rich involving sound quality.
Pros: Slim and powerfull.
I replaced Orion speakers with these. These are so much crisper
Pros: MIds and highs are really clean for the money
Sounds Great! Easy to install. Nice lows and highs, classical music is full and clear.
Pros: Great sound
Had some installation issues. The instructions that came for my vehicle reference the speakers having a wiring harness, but there was no harness or wiring included. This made it difficult as I had to run out and get parts halfway through the install...not so bad if you know ahead of time and your car is not in pieces. I also had to remove some plastic on the inside of my rear door panels because the included adapters were too big...also not mentioned in the installation instructions. In all if everything was as it should be this would have taken me less than an hour but because of the issues it took 3 times that. As for sound, they are OK. My Chevy had the worst factory speakers I have ever heard...I was expecting a huge difference, but its just not there. They are definitely a fair bit clearer...I think if I were to add an amp I would get the difference I'm looking for; they seem very under powered. I'm sure they will get better as they break in but I definitely wouldn't recommend bothering unless you're installing an amp as well or your speakers are blown or something.
PERFECT FIT FOR 06 AVALANCHE, FRONT AND BACK. PAIRED WITH A ALPINE SUB WOOFER, AND EXTRA BOAST STEREO HEAD.
Pros: CRISP CLEAR VOLUME, SPEAKERS ARE A BIT HEAVY, BUT SEEM TO MOUNT FINE.
Cons: I HAVE USED POLK EQUIPMENT FOR 2 DECADES HOME AND CAR AND BOAT. GREAT QUALITY AND GOOD PRICING.
No Bass. That's it in a nutshell. I'm no teenager anymore, but I've been installing and upgrading car stereos for 25 yrs. These speakers look nice, sound ok at low volume, but no noticeable bass I could detect. It was so bad I took them out and sent them back. Nothing against Crutchfield, as usual, they were quick to take them back. I just like to hear and FEEL the bass in the car, which these speakers just broke up and sounded like mud when I pushed the bass even a little. Granted they were 6.5's, and now I went with the original size 6 x 9's. A little warning on that with the Ram 1500's, you only have about 3' depth to work with on the front door speakers, the rear doors have almost no limit. The window bracket is in the back of the front door speaker, I got around it using a 1/4" spacer behind the speakers I went with, which, turned out to be the Kicker 6 x 9's. And those speakers kick butt!
Pros: Look nice, nice mid tones and up. Easy install.
Cons: No bass at all.
love polk audio always sound fantastic
Pros: sound quality product quality
These Polk DXi651s speakers were recommended by the Crutchfield advisor as a replacement for the door speakers of my 2002 Honda Civic EX sedan. They were a good fit using the speaker adapter bracket provided by Crutchfield. I only had 1-3/4" clearance between the face of the door and the window when it was rolled down. The top mount depth of these speakers is 2" and the adapter bracket provided just enough space to pull the back of the speaker away from the window. Since we had to remove the entire door panel of the Civic to install the speakers, I was concerned that the door panel would not fit over the speaker with the bracket but everything went back together without any problems. I love the way these speakers sound. They have a well balanced sound with nice crisp highs and a solid bass response. They are being powered by a Kenwood head unit that puts out 22 watts per channel with a maximum output of 50 watts. They would probably sound even better with more power but I'm happy with this set up. The construction of these speakers is of high quality and seem very durable. The speaker wiring harness provided by Crutchfield fit perfectly with the Honda plug and made the install that much easier.
Pros: Nice sound Perfect fit
Great sound and range on these speakers. Third set of Polk speakers I've bought. Good choice again.
Pros: Sound quality even when cranked.
Clean, clear sound. Great replacement for factory speakers.
I put these DXi651s in the front door of my 2000 Chevy Siverado. They sound five times better than the horrible GM paper speakers ever did. The built in crossover to the aluminum tweeter is a nice bonus and the tweeter sounds crisp and clear. My head unit currently is stock with no amp. I know from other purchases of Polks that they sound even better with more wattage driving them. I would rate these five stars if they were made in the USA.
Pros: Great sound at a good value, builit in crossover, and the aluminum tweeter. Nice looking understated black speaker grills if you need them.
Cons: Made in China.
Clear sound for door speakers. Was what I was looking for. Delivery was very quick as promise. Have not ordered from Crutchfield since the early 70's was not disapointed then and remain happy today!
Pros: Very good name in speakers and a clear crisp sound. Well worth the money!!
Cons: There are none.
Just got these to replace factory set. Sound clear, fairly easy to understand.
Replaced all four of my factory speakers and the sound is good even with the factory head unit. The bass and clarity are the biggest differences from the stock speakers. I will be adding an amp soon which will give these enough power to really sound awesome!
Pros: Sound great at a decent price
Cons: Wish I could have used the metal grilles instead of the plastic factory ones in my Jeep but they don't fit and the hole pattern didn't match
I replaced the factory speakers in my 09 Civic with these. They sound really good and they fit nicely. The price was great too.
Pros: Fit, price, and sound quality
Nice replacement for the oem front speakers in my 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Crew Cap. Installation was easy with the adapter and wire connecter supplied. Much better than the original paper cone speakers. I removed the factory tweeters since they were bad also.
Pros: Good quality and price. Pretty good sound.
Cons: Could be a litter better with the bass output.
I used these in the sound bar of my 2005 Jeep Wrangler. I upgraded to this size (standard is 5 1/4). Although Crutchfield doesn't acknowledge that these work because they are not a direct replacement, they do. Had make new screw holes, but it was easy. I recommend any jeep owner up-size their speakers (front can fit 5 1/4 too with a special bracket!). They sound great compared to stock. Its powered by a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X797 CD Receiver. The upgrade in size is much better and gives better bass response.
Pros: Good sound, Good value.
Speakers were just as described, at a price I thought was of value. As always I believe the Crutchfield name has high standards and I value the products you sell. The instructions were helpful, packaging was good and they arrived as promised on order. I have no complaints with anything I purchase from this company!
Pros: The name says it all, the products are always of the best standards and I get what I order without any mistakes on the ordering process. Any questions and there is always someone to answer my concerns.,
Cons: None I can think of, and that's a great thing!
I put these in my 1994 Acura Integra LS fitment was fine I got these on sale so it made it even more worth it. I got these a month ago and they are hitting well for speakers on a budget. The mids and highs come through clearly there is only a little distortion at higher volumes which is normal.
Pros: Inexpensive, easy to install, much better than what was in my car, good mids
Cons: No bump
Good speakers. What I expected from Polk Audio!!!
They sound pretty good but with BMW's sound equipment I think a regular woofer would be better.
Had to replace door speakers in my 02 dodge ram and these speakers seem to fit the bill. Overall they do a good job.
Pros: clear highs
Cons: thought they would have a little more bass
I'm satisfied with the overall quality of Polk. These were installed into a '97 Dakota Ext. cab. Sub-woofer would no doubt improve overall presence, but I don't drive all that far and am a casual listener.
Pros: Great clarity. Decent bass considering vehicle they were installed into.
Cons: They are COAX so some mid-range is somewhat subdued.
These speakers did not live up to expectation. I have some Polk Mobile Monitor speakers in another vehicle that sound awesome, and was expecting the DXi651 to be an improvement over the old Pioneer speakers in my car. The Polk speakers sound as if a pillow is mashed against the front, muffled and flat sound. I contacted customer service and was sent a replacement pair of the same model, but those sounded pretty much the same. Underwhelming.
Pros: Crutchfield customer service is great. They sent a replacement pair of speakers in just a few days after phone conversation. All installation hardware and wiring adapter were included with speaker.
Cons: Speakers sound flat. Changing the settings on radio audio control ( bass, midrange, etc.) did not help.
Easy install , sounds like a new truck .
Pros: Clear highs and midrange
Cons: Very limited bass
I needed some new speakers to replace the terrible stock speakers that came in my 03 civic. These were recommended and I'm happy with the purchase. I did have to do a little grinding on the opening in the door to get them to fit. I did not use the spacer rings that were supplied with them. With the rings, the speakers fit in the door, but the door panel wouldn't go back on. Without the rings, grinding was required, but they fit more flush and the door panel fits.
Pros: Crisp clear sound, well built, high quality speakers.
Cons: Minor modifications to door required for figment, but well worth it
These speakers are great! I installed 4 of them in my 2004 Honda CRV and they make a world of difference when it comes to sound clarity and quality! Just holding these speakers in your hand you can tell that they are a well made high quality speaker. They sound great no matter what genre of music you are listening too!
Pros: Well made, high quality materials, reasonable price, great sound quality and clarity.
Cons: Bass is a little weaker then I like but these little speakers still hit pretty good!
Replaced factory speakers in my truck. These speakers have a good quality
I wanted to improve the factory sound on my 02 Civic without giving away that I had a "system" to the casual thief and or person. These fit great. I have these paired to the mini plug and play alpine amp for my head unit and it sounds great. I also used Dynamat and made sure my speakers were solidly and correctly mounted.
Pros: Great speakers and overall sound. Huge improvement from factory junk because I also have Alpines plug and play amp running them.
Cons: Its a 6.5 coaxial speaker and not a subwoofer guys!
I installed these speakers in the front doors of a 2004 Honda Civic today. To be honest, I wasn't that impressed. After installing the driver's side speaker I compared the DXi to the stock speaker by fading to the front adjusting the balance back and forth from full left to right. I didn't hear much of a difference across any of the frequencies; especially the bass. I was able to get more slightly more volume out of the Polk than the stock speaker before there was any noticeable distortion. In Polk's defense...the stock speaker had a surround that sealed it against the door panel so that probably helped with the sound quality immensely. As far as installation goes, it was very simple with Crutchfield's guide and customer service. I had to trim the included mount and there is approximately 1/4" of gap at the bottom of both door panels now because the mount is too thick. I recommended that Crutchfield supply a thinner mount for installation in this vehicle.
Pros: Great price with included installation hardware Crutchfield's customer service
Cons: No noticeable increase in sound quality
If you can grab the DXi651 (non-S), I think you'll have better luck. These just were super muddy and too focused in the mid-bass. I installed these in a 2011 Chevy Express van, because they were recommended as fitting. They fit, they just didn't "fit". The doors of the van cause them to raise in Q for specific bass notes, even with Dynamat. So I tried a few other speakers to test frequency response. I found a pair of Clarions that did the job pretty well. They aren't perfect, but unless the speaker is designed for the door, they never will be. Needless to say, I returned the Polks and used the Clarions. Now, my point in the header of this review is that, I own a pair of Polk Audio 2.3TL home speakers from 1989. The quality you get from the older Matthew Polk speakers are a huge step up in musicality. Modern Polks don't hold a candle since they drove into the common consumer market. I considered taking two of the 6" drivers from the 2.3TLs to install in the van, but after hearing the Clarions, I didn't have a need to. Plus, the 2.3TL drivers require a sealed enclosure, and work best with a passive radiator. In any case, if you are looking for any deep, bellowing bass, this driver definitely isn't for you. If you want a light, smooth mid-bass, they may be ok. However, I would roll off the low-end with a cross-over.
Pros: Easy Install, and fit perfectly. Good mid-bass
Cons: No low-end. Too tight. Muddy.
Purchased this product to replace the stock speaker of my Honda Civic 02 base on reading the reviews for this one it catch my attention on (Marine) base materials that they use and how good the sounds would be when installed into a car. I connect this unit with ALPINE CDE-143BT and the result are awesome. This POLK AUDIO speaker comes with the plastic mounting bracket that really works pretty good specially for my rear speaker opening just work on little drilling and I'm good to go! This is My 1st DIY uprade for our car audio now I'm planning for my next project on my Toyota Tacoma 04 ( ALPINE+POLK AUDIO+CRUTCHFIELD = Happy Consumer)
Pros: Sound Great , Detailed Acoustics/Harmonics can be heard with this 6.5 POLK AUDIO DXi651s
Cons: Need a Sub Woofer if you really looking for a Booming Bass but this 6.5 can decently produce good amount of Bass and also it depends what kind of tunes you're playing.
Installed these in my son's vehicle. Install went smooth and the speakers sound good.
Pros: Appear to be a quality product.
Installed in 2005 Chevy Trailblazer LS. I put these in my front door to replace stock speakers. Much better than stock.
Pros: Loud clear mid and high ranges
Cons: Bass not great. Install - had to do a lot of retro fit with stock mount and had to attach supplied mount first, than the speaker in order to fit.
I put these in the front doors on my 05 dodge dakota. There a very good upgrade from the stock speakers. The are quite loud and clear sounding. The bass isn't the best but I can't complain it's still a lot better than the stock ones. I'm gonna buy two more for the doors also.
Pros: Loud Clear sound
Cons: Not the best bass
I purchased these speakers to fit in a 1999 Honda Civic SiR. Most people said that it would be major modification to make a 6.5" fit. I thought that I would try the slim fits and they fit great. I had to trim about 1.5" off of the panel to make room for the resistor on the speaker but other than that they fit perfectly. I am driving them with the stock deck at the moment, but the sound is great. What a difference over the stock speakers. Very happy. Just need the money to purchase a good head unit to drive them with.
Good product, good service!
Pros: Installed and performed as advertised
The speakers are very well built. Crystal clear mid range frequencies and highs. The only problem is I suggest adding a subwoofer to your sound system because the bass is lacking. I tested it with various songs and bit rates and it needed a little work on the bass. Overall if you don't value bass it's a good product.
Pros: Clear mids and highs, well built speaker
Cons: Bad Bass
My car has very shallow mounting brackets and these fit perfect thanks to the awesome help from customer service. The speakers sounds amazing and are just miles better than the stock, they give out more bass than I thought they would and have overall great sound quality. I would recommend these to anyone and with all the help I received from Crutchfield they definitely just got a new lifetime customer. Great price, great quality, great support, not much more you can ask for.
Pros: Sound Quality, Bass, Ease of installation, Shallow mounts
Very simple: these speakers sound great - especially for shallow mount situations, and provide lots of mounting holes for various applications. Love 'em.
Pros: Sound, mounting options.
My car is noisy when it at highway speeds due to the turbo and the road noise from the tires. My old speakers were Infinity 6032's and while they sounded great while giong 35-40mph, I really cound't hear them at freeway speeds - at least not the bass. So I replaced them with these Polk DXi 651 speakers. These speakers sound vastly better while at freeway speeds. I could hear the bass especially well. The mids and highs are good, but to be honest I've heard better. Still, these are one of the few speakers I've heard that can actually give out decent bass without the help of a subwoofer. In my particular set up, I use an Alpine Head unit (CDA 105), along with an Alpine mini amp (KTP-445U) which delivers 45watts x 4 channels.
Pros: Good bass for its price
Cons: Mids and Highs could be better, but aren't bad.
Awesome sound quality, the mounting depth for speakers In my tacoma wasn't even 2 inches so unless I wanted to modify the door panel the regular polk Dxi 651 would not fit so I went with the slim version and all I can say is wow. Night and day difference from the 14 year old paper speakers in my door, I can now crank the volume on my new JVC HU and hear no distortion at all, I don't have an amp yet but my HU is pumping 20w RMS to each and I hear amazing highs and mids, decent bass/lows as well cant wait to get an amp to get the 60w RMS they deserve, then maybe the bass will come out a bit more.
Pros: Slim mount, Pretty cheap, distortion free, overall amazing SQ for the price
Cons: None I can think of
The Polk speakers are great. I'm really happy with this speaker choice. Highly recommend
Pros: Sound is amazing. Really like it.
Cons: Only con I have is that it's only a 2 way speaker and in my car has 3 way speakers in the front doors and my Polks are in the rear deck. Other then that no complaints
these are great speakers and a major upgrade from the factory speakers in my 2004 dodge dakota
Pros: highs, mids, and bass are great
Great speakers in the front and rear doors of Dodge 2500 pickup. Highly recommend the speakers with easy install instructions from Crutchfield.
Pros: Great mid and high end sound
Cons: Bass sound is lacking
Great quality speakers. Sound is so much better than the stock sound bar speakers in my Jeep wrangler. Fit perfectly and can still use factory grill covers for that stealth look.
Absolutely outstanding speakers!! incredible bass, mids and highs!! I expected great results from Polk ...but these far exceeded my expectations!!! Originally I ordered two for the front of my truck...once installed and heard them, I ran inside and called to order the set for the rear!!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!!!!!
Pros: You can NOT go Wrong with these speakers...especially for the price!!!!

High Efficiency Design: The Polk Audio DXi Series speakers feature a high efficiency design; meaning better sound and more volume using less power.
Dynamic Balance Driver Technology: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.
Klippel Optimized Components: For a driver to reproduce complex sounds accurately, the cone must move exactly the same distance and manner in both directions. The Klippel distortion analyzer, a device that uses a laser and sophisticated software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in motion, lets Polk optimize the speaker's motor structure, voice coil alignment, and suspension to yield the best possible performance.
Composite Cones: Each speaker features a Dynamic Balance, Bi-Laminate composite, polypropylene cone woofer. These composite cones feature tremendous stiffness-to mass ratio, resulting in faster transients and finer detail.
Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved durability, the speaker uses rubber surrounds.
Aluminum Dome Tweeters: Each speaker features a 3/4" aluminum dome tweeter for clear, accurate highs.

I have my polk speakers hooked to a Kenwood KDCBT362U. They sound just fine for me without an amp.[ CHARLIE Mar 13, 2016 ]
No you don't. I just run my speakers through my deck with stock wiring and they get plenty loud.[ PATRICK Mar 12, 2016 ]
No sounds good on my stock radio[ ROBERT Mar 12, 2016 ]
I put no more than a 100 watts on each speaker for the best performance. because if you try to put the peak power you will have a really bad sound. is my personal opinion.[ ROBERTO Sep 23, 2015 ]
I believe it is 165 watts peak power.[ JOEL R Sep 20, 2015 ]
These speakers have plenty of bass for my Honda Civic. I call the OEM speakers "Chinese Paper Plates". I put in an HD radio that can add a sub-woofer, but I don't really see the need, I'm pleased.[ GARY L Aug 23, 2015 ]
the bass in these speakers are very good I had two other top brands put in and they did not produce the bass like the polks[ ANTHONY Aug 21, 2015 ]
For door panel speakers it's fine. Still way better than factory speakers.[ ROSS J Aug 20, 2015 ]
The DXI's are nice, I installed them in a Dodge Stratus SXT so take my opinion as such since they may sound different depending on your vehicles interior volume/acoustics. I am running them in the front doors with foam baffles and DXI 6x9's in the rear deck (both factory locations), and are powered only by the JVC Arsenal head unit. I tuned the EQ to my liking (also a variable to consider with your application) to play as loud as possible without distortion. The rear view mirror blurs from the bass! About the same as my friend's Chevy Lumina with a 10" Kenwood sub in his trunk (not sure amp/power)! The 6x9's in the rear deck are the reason for this I am sure (more air movement) but they sound clean! I would recommend them! I would also recommend the Polk DB's, which I installed four 6.5" DB's in a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo using the same model JVC head unit with the exception of adding a Polk DB dual enclosure with a Polk Amp powering them. With the amp off, they sound equally (if not better) than the DXI's. Though I can not truely compare as interior volume/accustics are different, and no 6x9's in the Jeep.[ JOEL R Aug 19, 2015 ]
I put these speakers in a 2000 model super cab z-71 and I absolutely love them! The sound is very crisp and clear on the highs. I can't tell you much about the bass with them tho, I have a custom box and two tens under the back seat and is where most of the bass I hear comes from. My polks do a great job getting the lyrics out over the bass. Hope this info helps[ TIMOTHY Aug 19, 2015 ]
The speakers have much better bass than the factory speakers in my 09 civic. That is the only comparison I have. I was not disappointed with the sound. Hope it helps.[ DANIEL Aug 19, 2015 ]
It's good. But I need more power for system.[ JOSEPH Aug 19, 2015 ]
These speakers sound really good but miss the very low end. You can't really expect it from a small door speaker. If you're looking for some thump and rumble adding a small powered subwoofer would make a great set up.[ THOMAS Aug 19, 2015 ]
I installed in 2005 tacoma ,had to use a mount kit .install is always easy with crutchfeilds support sheets. Highly recomdended.[ LARRY Aug 17, 2014 ]
Don, I have never installed these in your particular vehicle. That being said, if you do some research on how to access and remove the factory speaker, that should be all you would need to know I would think. Once you have access to the speaker for removal/install, its just 4 screws and a terminal to unplug. Get the speaker harness adapters for quick plug and play installation. Hope this helps a little. Best of luck to you sir! An excellent sounding speaker I might ad.[ AARON D Aug 17, 2014 ]
