6-3/4" Component Speaker System
Our take on the Polk/MOMO MM465
High-end audiophiles, let your system look and sound its best with the Polk/MOMO MM465 6-3/4" components! They're truly engineered for top-of-the-line performance. The unique billet-style grille minimizes obstruction of tight bass radiating from the poly woofer. The stylish cast aluminum baskets are diamond-cut to precise tolerances for durable beauty and resonance suppression.
A rubber surround holds up against conditions that damage speaker quality, while the 1" dome tweeter has a fluid-cooled voice coil and neodymium magnet for superb power handling and high-end extension.Note: The woofer baskets are slightly larger than standard size. The cutout may have to be enlarged, and mounting holes may have to be redrilled. Details:
- frequency response 50-20k Hz
- power range 25-150 watts RMS
- sensitivity 87 dB
- top-mount depth 2-13/16"

Dynamic Balance Technology: Laser imaging research allows Polk to observe the resonances of different cone materials. Polk engineers have used laser imaging techniques to find the right combination of materials, geometry and construction needed to tune out response distorting resonances. The result is excellent bass and smooth, clear midrange response.
Cast Aluminum MOMO Arrow Basket: The futuristic-looking woofer basket is designed to mimic MOMO wheel designs. The basket is finished with diamond-polished silver metallic paint.
Woofer Cone Materials: The polymer/mica composite woofer cones produce rock solid mid-bass response and lifelike midrange detail. Each woofer is made with a light, but strong, woven carbon fiber dustcap to improve efficiency. The woofers feature 1.5" voice coils.
Motor Cup: The 14.4 oz. woofer magnet is covered by a metal cup made to match the basket's styling. The outside of the cup is finished with diamond-polished silver metallic paint, and the bottom of the cup is a machined aluminum surface protected by a clear coating. An orange acrylic plate with a yellow MOMO logo is attached to the bottom of the cup, and the bottom of the cup is embossed with a Polk Audio logo.
Elastomer Rubber Woofer Surrounds: The elastomer rubber surrounds are airtight and durable for long-term reliability and superior bass response.
Tweeter Materials: The 1" dome tweeters are made with a German-manufactured red silk-composite diaphragm for flat response, great inner detail and low distortion. The tweeters feature a 1" ULV fluid cooled voice coil and a small, but powerful, neodymium magnet for high power handling and superior detail.
Tweeter Mounting Options: This system includes mounting parts and hardware for flush tweeter mounting and surface tweeter mounting. In both mounting configurations, the tweeters can be pivoted to "aim" their output for the best high frequency response and soundstaging.
Selectable Tweeter Output Level: Each crossover has a 3-position switch that allows you to select the tweeter output level according to system requirements and personal preference. The switches may be set to "-3dB", "-1.5dB" or "0dB" to tailor the tweeter output level according to personal preference.
2-way Crossovers: The included crossovers include a 12dB/octave, 4200Hz high pass filter for the tweeters and a 12dB/octave, 4200Hz low pass filter for the woofers. Each crossover includes a "mid-range extension" switch that allows you to turn off the low-pass filter and send full-range output to the woofer; this feature can be helpful in achieving a better blend of woofer and tweeter output when the two drivers are located far apart from each other. The high-pass filter is made with mylar capacitor and air-core inductor components for better transparency, and the low-pass filter is made with polypropylene capacitor and laminated steel components for high current handling and dynamic impact.
Crossover Mounting: There are 4 mounting holes in the base of each crossover; screws to mount the crossovers are not supplied. The crossovers are not weather proof, so they should not be mounted in locations, such as door panels, that will expose them to direct contact with water.
Gold Plated Crossover Terminals: The crossover terminals are gold plated for corrosion resistance.
Tweeter Mounting Dimensions:
|Surface Mount||Flush Mount|
|Depth||(0.854" screw depth)||1.150"|
Crossover Dimensions: W = 6.729", H = 1.628", D = 4.110"
On page 9, under the instructions titled "Installing the Polk/MOMO System Mid/Woofer in Factory Locations", the following steps do not apply to the installation of the woofers:
- Step 2: Cut the supplied tweeter wire in half.
- Step 4: Using a crimping tool, attach faston connectors to the speaker end of each of the wires going from the crossover to the mid/woofer.
- Step 5: Slip the faston connectors onto the input terminals on the mid/woofers. Be sure to attach the wire with the white stripe to the positive (+) terminal, and the un-striped wire to the negative (-) terminal.
Under the instructions titled "Installing the Mid/Woofers in Non-Factory Locations" (bottom of page 9 and continued on page 10), the following steps do not apply to the installation of the woofers:
- Step 5: Cut the supplied tweeter wire in half.
- Step 7: Using a crimping tool, attach faston connectors to the speaker end of each of the wires going from the crossover to the mid/woofer.
- Step 9: Slip the faston connectors onto the input terminals on the mid/woofers. Be sure to attach the wire with the white stripe to the positive (+) terminal, and the un-striped wire to the negative (-) terminal.
Note: Polk is aware of the manual errors. Future versions of the manual will be corrected.
