Features

Overview: This pre-construction bracket kit will aid you in new construction of Polk Audio LCi, RCi, and TCi In-Wall/In-Ceiling Loudspeakers. This kit is not meant to support the weight of the speaker, it is only for placement. The PB LC80i bracket kit comes supplied with two plastic frames, 4 snap-on plastic wings and 12 sheetrock screws.  Each plastic frame features strain relief wire guides to help with connection of your speaker wire to your in-wall/in-ceiling Polk Audio loudspeaker. The supplied wings snap into the frames and are used to span your home's vertical studs and attach to your studs via the supplied mounting screws. The Wings feature breakaway segments, which can be used to custom fit the wings between studs.

Q & A

Customer Q&A

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

I'm building a new home and my plan is to use these over priced pre construction brackets as a template so I can make 20 more. $25.00 each is ridiculous for a flimsy piece of plastic. My intention is to trace the brackets onto Coroplast and cut them with a utility knife. I figure my cost per piece will be less than $2.00 per bracket [ LARRY  Jun 05, 2017 ]

A must for new construction. [ Rick  Aug 19, 2016 ]
These make new home construction a breeze. I'm in to wire and place speaker frames in the desired location. I return after the painting is complete and my wiring and speaker holes are where they are suppose to be and the cut out holes are the correct size. I simply install the speakers, connect the equipment, label the connections, test, tune, and I'm done. [ Thomas  May 09, 2016 ]
Seemed like it made speaker install easy. Hopefully it does. Kinda pricey for a piece of plastic [ David  May 05, 2016 ]

to make install easey [ JASON  Dec 08, 2015 ]
Part of kitchen remodel that included replacing the dry wall ceiling. Purchasing the mounting brackets made installing Polk speakers easier. My contractor installed the wiring and the ceiling brackets and I did the rest. [ Jeffrey  Dec 08, 2015 ]

2 questions already asked

they make things easier, but not 100% necessary. [ Daniel  Jul 13, 2015 ]
i had the same concern, but they did help since the drywall guys can fit around them nicely. also you can tuck and in my case strap tie the speaker cord to them so they dont get lost in the process. i think i was able to get an open box one which where a little cheaper so check there. overall, it will make your life easier during install, and if the sheet rockers screw it up, they can find and fix it. good luck. todd [ TODD  Jul 13, 2015 ]
If you are having sheet rockers installing over framing then yes it is worth the money to get a clean finish. You can cut the holes in later but you'll need to note the locations of the wires. [ Reed  Jul 13, 2015 ]
Makes installation a whole lot easier and cleaner. The speakers sit more secure on the brackets versus being screwed into drywall. [ Christopher  Jul 13, 2015 ]
Not necessary but it's nice to know the speaker is being held up by more than the drywall, the straps nail into studs. I feel it made for a cleaner install also. I went with Polk speakers so they were pretty heavy. I installed them two yards ago no problems. Worth the $$. [ JACK S  Jul 13, 2015 ]
IMO, you don't need them. However, they do make it easier to cut a clean hole. I used them because my builder was a tool and insisted on brackets. I think he wanted them there as guides for the ceiling Sheetrock guys. Otherwise you get a hole perhaps off center. [ ERIC  Jul 13, 2015 ]
Not necessary, but it does make it easy for the dry waller to router the holes exactly where you want the speakers. [ Thomas  Jul 13, 2015 ]
Yes [ JACK S  Jul 13, 2015 ]
It should fit if the speaker is 8" round ceiling or wall type. [ Thomas  May 27, 2015 ]
