Overview

Our take on the Polk Audio PSW110

Enjoy rich, accurate bass with the PSW110 from Polk. Its 10" woofer and 100-watt high-current amplifier work together to produce powerful lows with your movies and music. And this subwoofer sports a new, more powerful driver design to deliver deeper, louder, and punchier bass than previous Polk subs. Special circuitry inside the amp and a solid MDF cabinet with internal bracings ensure clean, detailed lows, even when you crank up the volume.

Tremendo "subwoofer", buen sonido en los tonos bajos y a un precio módico. Amazing subwoofer, good sound in the low tones and a reasonable price.

Features

Driver: The Polk Audio PSW110 uses a 10" Dynamic Balance composite cone driver for deep, accurate response with low distortion. For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofer utilizes a rubber surround.

Klippel Optimized Woofer: By using a state-of-the-art Klippel Distortion Analyzer, Polk is able to optimize the woofer's motor structure, voice coil alignment and suspension for the best possible performance even at extreme listening levels.

Motor Structure: The PSW110 utilizes a powerful motor structure for a higher BL responses (the measure of the motive force applied to the cone) that results in louder, deeper and punchier bass.

Compression Circuitry: The woofer's Compression Circuitry limits distortion at high volume levels.

Amplifier: The subwoofer is powered by a high-current amplifier producing 100 watts RMS/200 watts dynamic power that supplies clean power for loud bass and a wide dynamic range necessary to recreate a life-like experience in your home.

Enclosure: The PSW110 features a bass-reflex enclosure with non-resonant MDF construction and internal bracing for deep bass impact with superior detail and accuracy. The Polk Audio PSW110 is available in a Black or Cherry finish.

Down-Firing Port: The powered subwoofer's downward firing port allows the woofer to be extremely efficient and provides more bass impact for your home theater experience.

Not Video Shielded: The subwoofer is not magnetically shielded, so it is not recommended to place it next to tube TVs and video monitors. Though LCD, DLP and Plasma televisions are not affected by magnetism you should allow at least 18" of space between the subwoofer and any TV.

Placement: You may place the subwoofer anywhere in your room, but it will perform best when it's on the same side of the room as your system's front speakers. Also, placing the subwoofer near a wall or in a corner will increase its loudness.

Controls

3-Way Power Switch: The subwoofer has a 3-way power switch on the rear panel. You can select Auto, which turns the unit on automatically when an input signal is received and off 15 minutes after the signal stops; On, which keeps the unit on and Standby, which turns the unit off. The LED power indicator glows green when the unit is on and red when the unit is off.

Volume Control: The PSW110 has a rotary volume control to adjust the volume of the subwoofer relative to the other speakers in the system.

Phase Switch: The subwoofer's phase switch allows you to select 0-degrees (normal) or 180-degrees (reverse). If the bass sounds muddy or unclear, toggling the phase control can sometimes strengthen the bass attack.

Low-Pass Filter: The PSW110 offers a continuously variable low-pass filter, adjustable from 60-160 Hz. There is an LFE position for use with the filtered LFE output from a receiver or preamp.

Connections

Line Inputs: The subwoofer has gold plated left and right RCA line level inputs for use with receivers having subwoofer or stereo preamp outputs that do not contain their own low-pass crossover. Using the Line Inputs allows PSW110 to do all the low-pass filtering. If your receiver or processor only has a single subwoofer line output, connect it to the Right line input jack.

LFE In: The right channel RCA input doubles as the LFE input; if your receiver has an LFE output and a built-in crossover, use this input and set the low-pass filter dial to LFE.

Speaker Level Input/Output: The subwoofer has spring clips for the speaker level inputs and outputs. The subwoofer's low-pass filter sends bass frequencies (based on the setting of the filter) to the subwoofer. The speaker level inputs and outputs are shorted together, so the output is not crossed over. You should set you receiver's front speaker setting to Large.

Spoke at length with Crutchfield advisor James. Very detailed knowledge confirmed my thinking and gave great advice on the Polk which he currently owns himself (earlier model). Pointed out deal on the better model with twice the power rating - no brainer! [ Robert  Feb 17, 2017 ]
I've trusted Polk for a long time, and the price and ease of ordering made the deal. It's getting hard to buy much in audio at brick and mortar stores these days. Crutchfield has it all. [ Ralph  Jan 17, 2017 ]

Price, great reviews. [ ANTHONY V.  Sep 15, 2016 ]
Needed a replacement for my old Vega 12" down firing sub. Talked to my adviser and he recommended this little guy.We absolutely love it! I hate to say it but for TV and movies, night and day over my Cerwin Vega and power amp. My room is 14' x 22', and I only have the level up to about 30. Much higher than that and it really starts to overpower the mains. But to entertain and have the kids playing their Iphones through bluetooth we crank it up to about 60. Just rumbles! [ JAY M  Aug 22, 2016 ]
I've wanted to add a subwoofer to my original home theater purchased from Crutchfield 25 years ago. Consisting of Kenwood receiver and Bose 6.2 speakers. The speakers are still great but digital technology surpassed the receiver. One day it lost the rear channel so I decided time to buy a new receiver and add the subwoofer. Great addition and performance to improve my movie viewing experience. [ CHARLES  Jul 28, 2016 ]
I've been looking for a subwoofer to go along with an older Harmon Kardon receiver. The 100W amp should pair perfectly without overpowering the receiver. Also, the 32 to 250 frequency range will fit my Infinity book shelf speakers nicely and reduce any distortion. [ Paul  May 31, 2016 ]
Perfect value [ Michele V.  May 10, 2016 ]
Has Great sound and great bass! [ WILLIAM  Apr 19, 2016 ]

Crutchfield Tech advisor recommendation. [ Donald  Dec 21, 2015 ]
I currently have a Polk PSW 350 subwoofer in my system, 100w, 10" woofer. The PSW 110 is a perfect match as I'm upgrading to 7.2. Crutchfield advisor Abe confirmed the match for me. Great company that puts the customer first! [ ANTONIO G  Dec 11, 2015 ]
Brand reputation. [ Robert  Dec 03, 2015 ]
The cherry finish and price when compared to the Kilpsh woofer of similar specs. [ ANDREW ST  Mar 29, 2016 ]
I was looking for a good subwoofer & this one probably will do the job at cruchfield they are very professional& helpfull [ Damian  Feb 18, 2016 ]
i wanted 2 subs and the cost was right. also like the wood finish that will sit on shelves [ Tyler  Feb 14, 2016 ]
Good deal. Part of a Polk Audio package that made the subwoofer free. Even the shipping. My favorite price. [ Bill  Jan 18, 2016 ]
Polk's brand reputation and good reviews. I couldn't pass up the free Subwoofer, considering that incentive Crutchfield had a better price than Amazon and the free shipping for these large heavy speakers on top of everything else made it a very easy decision [ MARK A.  Jan 06, 2016 ]

No. The unit does not have a voltage selector on its back. Only the 2-prong AC conector for the included cable. [ julio a perales  Jan 08, 2017 ]
Thanks for your question. We are still waiting on the holiday promotions to be finalized, so as of yet we don't have any additional information. Keep a check on our website and catalogs. [ Kenny  Oct 24, 2016 ]  Staff
No, it does not appear to be designed to be removed. [ JOHN  Mar 28, 2016 ]
It cannot be removed [ CHRIS  Mar 27, 2016 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: Powered subwoofers have two RCA (left and right) inputs for when you are connecting from a receiver that doesn't have a designated subwoofer output. But when you have a home theater receiver with a single, mono subwoofer output, you need a mono subwoofer cable, such as this one, to connect to, in this case, your Polk Audio PSW110B powered subwoofer. And you need to connect the sub cable into the Right RCA input (not the Left) on the PSW110B. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy  Apr 30, 2014 ]  Staff
As long as the powered TV speaker bar has a subwoofer pre-amp output any of the powered subwoofers should work great. [ Jeff  Nov 30, 2013 ]  Staff
