Solid bookshelf speakers for 2.1 stereo or surround duty
I have the Polk RTI A5s, CSI A6 and these A1s. Because the mid/woofer is 5.25", I was not expecting that much of a full sound and the bass to be lacking. Not so. For their size, they do pretty good in the mid-upper bass and have a nice mid range sound. They are well balanced and detailed. They also blend well with the A5s and CSI A6. For 2.1 stereo they do benefit from a sub. They are not as full sounding as the A5s, I'll be using them as surrounds. But they also can pull off doing 2.1 stereo. I broke them in for a 100 hours or so in 2.1 stereo and showed them off to my friends by A/B comparing to the much larger A5s. All were impressed. Applications: If you have a small to medium size home theater or living room, 4 of these plus either the CSI A4 or A6 would make a great home theater set-up. Or, a pair of these plus a pair of the larger RTI A3s would be great. These speakers will be just fine in a bedroom/home office stereo set up or doing 2.1 stereo TV. I also streamed several movies thru Comcast in 2.1 stereo and I was thrilled at how good these small speakers sound. They are very easy to place on a bookshelf because of the rear power port that also doubles as a wall mounting bracket. These speakers are a quality product and a great value.
Pros: Well made, very detailed, balanced, and full sounding bookshelf speakers The black Ash veneer cabinet is furniture grade beautiful - they look great in my home.
Cons: none so far
