Having trouble getting through movie night without nodding off and spilling the popcorn on the couch? Maybe it's time to upgrade your sound with Polk's Blackstone TL1600 speaker system. Ideal for small- to medium-sized rooms, this convenient package comes with all the speakers you need to get dramatic, engaging movie theater sound that'll keep your attention focused and your eyes glued to the screen. The four Blackstone satellite speakers and the center channel use some pretty advanced driver technology, so you experience impressively effortless sound from speakers that take up very little space. The package also comes with a powerful 50-watt subwoofer to add deep, rumbling explosions and room-thumping bass for all your favorite action flicks. And if you've got a new flat-panel TV, this system's stunning high-gloss black finish will make an excellent match.
Advanced technology produces astonishingly realistic sound
Polk's latest breakthrough is "Time Lens" technology, which aligns the drivers in such a way that all the frequencies reach your ears at the same time. It improves the speakers' soundstaging and imaging, so that you'll start to forget you're watching a movie and really feel like you're part of the action. This technology makes this system great for video games, too, because you'll be able to clearly pinpoint where sounds are coming from all around you, like monster roars or enemy gunfire.
Polk's enclosure design puts performance first
The satellite and center channel speakers also use an "acoustic lens" in their grilles to disperse sound waves in a way that makes your movie and music soundtracks sound larger and more open. And unlike a traditional port hole, these speakers have something called an "aperiodic-tuned rear port." It's more like a breathable membrane that controls air flow in and out of the enclosure, giving them the acoustic benefits of both a sealed and a ported enclosure, including better bass extension and a pleasing mid-bass boost. It also means you can place these speakers in the open or against a wall, and still get great sound.
Easy speaker placement
Each speaker comes with a keyhole slot in the back for easy wall-mounting. You can also use the discrete threaded insert to fit them to optional speaker brackets or stands. But no matter how you choose to set up your system, you can expect the kind of detailed, open sound that will make movie night way much more exciting.
Upgrade to a seven-channel home theater when you add a pair of TL1 satellite speakers to this system.

Great sound heavy bass
Pros: Nice system for the money
Cons: Have 2 subwoofer monster wires for left and right input .
Everything about these speakers are great. First when you take them out of the box they feel like good quality speakers with weight and craftsmanship. Once I got them all set up I was blown away that speakers that small can sound so good. Definitely would recommend to others!
Pros: Size, sound, price
These speakers are the voice of our new home theater in our medium-large (17' x 17') new addition. Paired with an Onkyo TX-NR717 and using the Audyssey2 Full Setup, the sound is incredible. Balanced, powerful, crisp, and clean. All four main channels are located at the ceilings in each corner of the room, with the Center below the 65" TV, which sits fairly high on the wall. The sub is off to the left corner in an imperfect but adequate place. With several test movies, the sound is enveloping. There's no perceptible directionality -- it's simply everywhere. I think this is the first set of new home speakers I've bought in about 25 years, and I couldn't be happier with them. Well, there is one thing. My first reaction and those of a close friend was, "Man, those things are ugly." Hung upside down near the ceiling, however, they look a lot better -- almost like they were designed to be used that way.
Pros: Clarity and definition are incredible, especially for the price The sub is adequate, but not much more
Cons: Jeez, they're ugly.
Got these on sale from Crutchfield. So far were loving them (except the subwoofer, explained below). Overall great sound from such a small package, and relatively small investment. These are installed in the 12x32' family room/kitchen of our 32x24' house and they fill the whole house with great sound. Coupled with the auto calibration feature of our DENON receiver these have made for great sound while listening to music in multi-channel stereo as well as movies in surround sound. I was a little worried about the imaging with the front and rear satellite speakers because they needed to be mounted 8' high on the walls and the ceilings are 12' high, but with adjustable wall mounts and some tweaking, they've turned out sounding great. The subwoofer, however isn't quite what I was hoping for. It produces fairly deep and accurate bass, but definitely has some challenges with some movie tracks, the manual says to turn the volume knob up all the way and let your receiver control the level, but I've found less distortion at ~75% volume set on the sub. The biggest downer is that the sub always has an audible buzz when the power is on (even without an input connected). I have very sensitive ears to this kind of sound, but it's really only noticeable when between tracks or before the auto-off turns off the built in amp after you've turned off your receiver. I'm an audiophile with no budget, so I'm surprised that I'm not 100% happy. But overall, I'm pretty
Pros: Great Value for the sound. Satellite and Center Channels are exactly what I expected (maybe Better!) Great speaker size for mounting on walls. Despite cons of subwoofer, I'm sometimes surprised at how great it sounds too!
Cons: Light Subwoofer Buzz when no sound is being played Some distortion in Subwoofer for certain tracks...especially movies. Wish I could have afforded a package twice this price!
Very good sound from a relatively reasonably priced speaker system. I'm very happy having just the front speakers and woofer connected and I feel confident that once the rear speakers are hooked up it will be even better. I listen to music with heavy bass and also movies and the system handles it well. You will need speaker wire and a RCA connector in addition to the kit.
This product is awesome...5-stars!!
An outstanding surround sound system for a small room at a great price point. The center speaker sounds clear and tight, and since the 4 smaller speakers are identical, the overall sound is very even and smooth. The powered sub is plenty powerful to match up with the other speakers (I'm running mine at half power!). Small things, like the VERY strong wire connection posts on the speakers, show the thoughtful design and long-lasting build quality. Highly recommended.
Pros: Good build quality, contemporary look that matches most TVs, great sound for a small system. Can't beat it for the price.
Cons: None, if what you're looking for is a small room surround system.
Much larger sound than expected from the size of the speakers. Very warm and clear.
Pros: Size Sound Price
I have a very small entertainment room and wanted a small compact set of speakers to use Got these on sale and with free shipping, had them in the USVI by the end of the week, which is anyone knows about shipping to the Rock, is pretty darn good. Package includes center channel speaker, four satellite speakers, and one very nice subwoofer. Hooked up to a Denon AVR-X2200W receiver and Dish Satellite TV, movies (Samsung BD player), Streaming (Roku 4), and music all sound great. I didn't want to drill any holes in the walls so I just bought some CommandStrip hooks, and hung them that way... light enough that I don't have to worry about them falling down. Sounds great, easy to hang on the wall and am quite happy with the purchase. Only thing that you should know is no cables or speaker wire included (standard operating procedure) and I would recommend buying some good heavy gauge speaker wire and a good RCA subwoofer cable
Pros: Good clear sound for both music and TV/movies Good balanced sound (probably more my receiver) small and compact nice subwoofer easy to hang
Cons: no banana plug connections on speakers
Great speakers , superb sound. Have this for 2 months tested it with movies and rock, classical and jazz music performs excellent
Pros: Comes complete 2 front speakers , one center audio, 2 back speakers and a base that really pumps clear bass if your a rocker like me :
I would highly recommend this product! I am very picky when it comes to sound and had considered another brand( BOSE) but after making this purchase and hearing the sound I am MORE THAN PLEASED with Polk Audio. The price was well worth it too which I mated this purchase with a Denon Receiver worked GREAT!
Pros: Great packing of equipment(quality). Craftsmanship is top shelf too!
Cons: Hum coming from Subwoofer, not sure what fix would be but not a deal breaker!. Low level so not completely noticeable!!
Small speaker with great and big sound
Pros: Nice finishing and big Bass
Cons: Disappointed, because it doesn't come with speaker wires
Moving into a new house we decided to dedicate a room to becoming our media room; working with the team at Crutchfield I purchased an Onkyo receiver to power this speaker set with the goal of creating a cozy viewing room with excellent sound without overpowering the room; the results? Perfect. Aside from the usual quality packaging and easy shipping the Blackstone TL1600 was easy to set up and with the Onkyo's speaker calibration feature I was able to quickly tailor the sound to my liking. Speaking of sound, this is a very good set of speakers, I find the satellite speakers to do an excellent job of creating an immersive experience, the sound is clear, well balanced and crisp. The subwoofer provides that extra bit of oomph to movies and music though given the size of the room I have it turned down just a bit. The combined effect is an excellent experience; music and dialogue is clear, not at all muddy, bass heavy or shrill and bright, there is a nuanced sound so that even the quietest passages come through well without any hint of hiss or distortion. Overall, for the price this is a fantastic system, well suited for a small to midsized viewing room. We use it not only with movies and television but also listening to music as well. We're very pleased.
Pros: Easy to set up, clear sound, no distortion.
Best sound experience in home.Great clear sound excellent bass.Enjoy both music and movies.Using t50 towers with t1600 surround.all hooked to onkyo sr 444 receiver.
Pros: Compact surround speakers. Excellent bass response from sub.
These speakers perform much better than I ever imagined. The sound is so clear and the bass really has a punch to it. I am using them with a Denon Receiver. Very pleased with these.
Pros: Awesome Sound. Easy to connect.
These work great in my living room. They fill the room with sound even at half power. The connections are just what I'd expect from a set of speakers. The mounting holes worked with the mounting brackets I bought. They look great and the price was excellent. Absolutely no problems.
Pros: Great price, sound, and looks. Had the connection and mounting options I needed.
Cons: None that I've noticed
What a difference these made when compared with the Samsung speaker set that came with the Blu-Ray receiver of the same make. Speakers are good looking on the wall and when coupled with the Onkyo TX-NR737 upgrade we also purchased the sound upstairs rivals the setup I have downstairs, which includes a pair of Bose 8.2 as the main channel. Richness of the sound environment has been increased tenfold and I can actually stand to listen to it. Not sure this set should be classified as an entry level surround set, since what I had before is outstripped by these, exponentially, in practically every area. The price might have been a bit more than I wanted to spend but with the sale on the Onkyo 737, it was in the budget. Thanks to the Crutchfield team for setting us up, again!
For the price the sound quality is in my opinion as good as any higher end units.
Pros: Easy install
Looked for days and read as many reviews as possible on all speakers. Very pleased with my decision to go with Polk
Pros: Ease to install and sounds great in my home
Great sound, and great looking speaker set. Just really well built quality stuff...
Great speakers. I love them and am enjoying the music. Get tempted to crank them up but love my neighbors.
Pros: Great sound.
Cons: None so far
Perfect for a Home theater. I have these hooked up to Denon AvR7100 in a 12x14 room and they sound awesome. Bass is great. They are a good looking and good performing setup
For the price, hard to beat this setup. Easy to setup and plenty of power for my man cave setup
Pros: Price, ease of setup, powered sub-woofer
Replaced an expensive Bose speaker w/Onkyo receiver package from a local retailer with this Polk just and a Denon receiver for half the price. The Bose system my parents purchased from a local retailer sounded terrible. The mids & highs were acceptable, as was the Onkyo receiver, but the bulky Bose subwoofer "module" was terrible. I've never heard a Bose system sound clear & full enough to justify the price. I had this Polk kit and Denon receiver installed just 3 days after ordering it and there was no comparison. This Polk package, when paired with a good receiver, sounds great. No matter the source used, the clarity and full frequency response put a grin on everyone's face. Couldn't recommend any higher, especially for the price. The 8" woofer plays plenty deep for the low rumbles of explosions in movies, yet crisp and smooth for detailed rock and jazz.
Pros: Sound quality. Visually appealing. Amazing bang for the buck ($).
Cons: Haven't found one yet.
These speakers are small but put out big sound. I connected them to a Onkyo TX-NR727 tuner, and I have the say the sounds is outstanding. I'm watching movies in surround sounds and the rear sounds actually have me turning my head at times to see what's there. When I was playing the FFXIV, I got up a couple of times to see who was on my back patio...No one! It was the sounds from the game coming through the rear channel. If you're looking at these speakers, they're obviously in your price range, you will not be disappointed in them.
Pros: Compact, light weight, and big sound, all at a great price.
Cons: You don't have the speakers yet!
I went from a "home theater in a box" system to using these Polk speakers with a new Denon receiver and I could tell from the moment the speaker test was running that the sound was infinitely better. A very robust sound from compact speakers!
Pros: Compact design, great sound.
I installed 6 of these black stone speakers which I find very good. I have a rather large room these are in and they seem to be doing a good job the first week. However, the subwoofer is less to be desired for. It makes a nice base sound but produces next to nothing for bass feel.
Pros: Great sound
Cons: Weak subwoofer
Want a dynamite home theater sound in a small package? That's what you get with Polk Audio Blackstone TL1600 home theater speaker system. Small, discreet speakers, with great design and sound you can't believe could be produced by such a modestly priced system. The subwoofer packs a great wallop too! The speakers were easy to connect to my Denon AVR, and in no time I had really terrific home theater sound! This is a great buy!
Pros: Modestly priced; high quality; easily installed. The total package.
I changed out a Bose Lifestyle 25 system. These speakers were able to mount using tthee existing Bose brackets with minmal modifcations. Ver happy with the sound quality as compared to thee Bose for my application.
Pros: Easy to mount on the wall or brackets. Easy connections, great sound quality
Sounds great for my new digital home theater system!
Pros: Sound Quality
Great sound. Nice to have two satellite speaker mounting options. One warning though. I took off a star because the recessed mounting screws on the satellite speakers. IF you use DEFTECH PROMOUNT 80 speaker mounts, you are going to have to widen the hole that leads to the screw mount because of the way the promounts work. You will also have to add (lock) washers when using the promounts since the screw holes are recessed into the back of the satellite.
Pros: Sounds great. looks sweet.
Cons: Depending on your mounting hardware, you may have to "alter" the speaker mounting "hole"
Sound's like the way there suppose to. I love this speaker system. Polk audio always comes through.
Pros: Perfect quality sound.
These are replacing an older set of Bose speakers in a surround systems. These sound very full and balanced. I was able to test all of the systems in this price range at Crutchfield in Charlottesville. In this price range they were easily the best sounding set and even sounded better to me than some of the higher priced sets. Don't let the small size fool you, they have the ability to really fill a room with sound. My room is 15' x 15' with carpet and a Denon receiver, the sound is absolutely phenomenal, exceeded my expectations. The powered sub has plenty of power for smaller rooms and has plenty of adjustments, volume, crossover and phase switch to dial it in.
Pros: Great sound in a small package. Priced right.
Great Speakers especially for the cost. Used these to replace a old Sony DVD/Receiver combo with 5.1, very impressed. Only thing I forgot to do was purchased a RCA for the sub.
Pros: Great sound
Cons: None so far
Excelent product. Very Clear sound and very powerful surrounds speakers for small and medium rooms. The subwoofer is powerful and cover the entire room in my case. The movies DTS HD sound sounds awesome. Good selection for upgrade my JVC old speakers.
Pros: Very high and clear sound. Very powerful subwoofer. Looks esthetically good. Compact speakers.
Cons: The subowoofer is a little big in size.
Great product, sounds fantastic. Set up in a smaller room and worked great!
I set up this system this week in my loft. I have it attached to my Denon AVR-1613 My room is about 15ft x 17ft. I was extremely surprised by the sound that came out of the system. THe sound is very crisp and clean. I heard other reviews saying the sub was the weak part of the system. I do not feel this way. I could feel the sub shaking my couch. It was an incredible experience. If there was a weak part I would say maybe the center channel needs a little more volume over the satellite speakers but for the price you cant go wrong. Its amazing. The Cutchfeild advisors will not lead you astray.
Pros: Big speaker sound and price. Amazing system
Cons: None, Very happy with my system
Amazing value for the money! Whether it's movie and television audio, music, internet radio, or more, Polk really hit the sweet spot of price, sound, and build quality with these little gems. I'm an old analog guy from back in the day and despise the "sterility" of current digital music. These speakers are "warm", just like my adviser Ringo said they'd be ;-)
Pros: Size and shape flexibility for placement virtually anywhere in your room. Center Channel Speaker a perfect fit between the "handlebar-stand" of my Sony KDL-60R520A.
Super easy to install, sounds great, what else is there to say?
Really good product for the money. Not the highest end power and quality, but for the price, it's a great way to go. Also very easy set up. There was one issue with an internal setting, but the Crutchfield support guys got me right through it. I would recommend this product.
Pros: Good sound. Easy set up. Nice, sleek look.
Cons: None yet.
Sounds amazing, looks great. Very impressed with these speakers. I paired them with a Sony reciever. The bass is not overpowering and it mixes very well with the speakers. During one movie i had to look around because the clarity of the insects in the surround speakers was so real i wasnt sure if it was the movie or coming from outside.
Pros: Clarity, bass.
Cons: For the price, none.
Let me qualify my review by saying my previous speakers were 8yr old out of the box home theater. I use them for watching TV and movies and the sound is clear and rich. They are a huge upgrade from my previous speakers. They have a great design and solid feel to them. The piano black looks really nice. Wasn't looking for high end speakers but wanted speakers that we an upgrade from what I had. They are priced perfectly in the sweet spot. That's my two cents.
Pros: Clear and rich sound , solid build, and great price.
Cons: None so far.
These little guys sound great. Feel like I'm sitting at a theater.
Pros: The price and the sound cant be beat!!!!
Cons: Really don't have any. Only thing I don't like about them is their finish, which is a high glossy black, not good when little kids are around..
I recently ordered a set of these to pair with my new 55" Plasma TV and Yamaha receiver to replace the el cheapo home theater in a box solution my wife had purchased 10+ years ago. Personally I would have liked to go with set of floorstanding mains with small satellites, but my wife quickly quashed that idea. These little speakers are fairly inobtrusive but bring big, clear sound to the party, and the sub gives you quite an OOMPH. I like watching action and sci-fi movies, and these speakers definitely bring the explosions to life.
Pros: Big, clear sound from a small package
Cons: None that I've found
didn't want to spend a $$$$$$ on a quality speaker system and this fit the bill....great sound from all (center base and satelites)...if the room was larger (20 x 20) i would have gone up a level
I have an older Polk set in my Br that could never come close to the reproduction that these satellites produce.
Pros: Reasonable Size Power handling Sound
Cons: None yet except no hardware for mounting included
I had a kluge of speakers in my system an decided to move to a matched system. I was a bit concerned about the small size of the speakers but was very happy the first time I fired them up. The sound is crisp and sound great.
Pros: The size and sound.
Overall a pretty solid purchase, probably best for small to medium sized rooms.
After numerous attempt with other system to include a Bose system I these speakers finally have what I was looking for. I paired them with a Denon reciever and the sound is incredible. With music they sound like a live concert. With Movies full on surround. They are incredible. Especially for the price. I am very pleased.
Pros: Gret sound, style and performance. Priced well also.
Ive puechased many polk products in the past,This is okay for starters but Ive already swapped the mains and surrounds, for the price its great
Cons: I grew tired to quick, but I know what I like in speakers
I was looking to upgrade from an older Bose Lifestyle system and kept reading all the positive reviews on these speakers. In the end, it was down to Polk Blackstone or Energy Classic. I choose these based on performance and Speakers modern style. Installation was cake. I watched The Avengers again after instaling these speakers and WOW - what a difference. I even ordered 2 additional speakers for 7.1 perormance. I cant wait to hear how it will sound.
Pros: Very easy to install and they look great. Great Price and Value.
I won't bore you with a long total home renovation story, but due to it chose to replace a Bose Acoustimas 15 sytem in a small 14 x 13 tv/library room. The system is set up in 5.1 configuration and sounds awesome, the speakers are perfect for a room that size. I am thrilled with the system paied with a older Sony V555ES reciever. IMO this set up is far superior to the Bose system ( however it is only up and running for 3 days..so time will tell. Set up was a breeze, however do not forget it is a RCA plug for the Sub, the speakers mounting threads are 1/4-20 which i did not see listed anywhere hope that save you some time.
Pros: excellent sound quality, and value....i would highly recomend to anyone
Installation was very easy, sound is perfect. you get what you pay for the price no need for extra bucks
I purchased these to replace 10 year old Sony Speakers that I gave to my kids when they moved into an apt. I could have spent a lot more, but only use my home theater area a limited amount. For the price, free shipping, and the outstanding product support at the "other end of the phone",you can't go wrong. The sub can be adjusted to meet your needs and is more than capable. The center channel speaker delivers clear conversation. All in all, a great choice.
Paired these with a Denon AVR-1612 to handle the surround sound duties for my living room home theater setup. Very good quality sound and the powered subwoofer is more than sufficient for my moderate sized room. Amazing sound from such small unobtrusive speakers.
Pros: Amazing sound quality. Easy setup. Attractive styling.
Cons: None so far
I bought this for my husband for Father's Day and he LOVED it! He installed it asap, and loves watching anything on TV with this system.
I just had a fantastic experience with Crutchfield Customer Service. I bought my Polk Audio Blackstone TL1600 speakers near the end of April. On the first of May a new offer came out that when purchasing the speakers I would have qualified for a set of exterior Polk speakers. Crutchfield is sending me the exterior speakers. WOW that is going above and beyond!!! The speakers are fantastic and sound great. I have them paired with a Denon AVR-1912 Home Theater Receiver and the sound is fantastic. The speakers were really simple to install. Crutchfield included some wiring labels which I thought was kind of odd, but it turns out they are fanatstic help keeping all the wires straight.
Pros: Fantastic Sound Crutchfield Customer Service
Cons: None so far
Wow! Let me say that again - wow! I matched this Polk set with the Sony STR- DH810 and bought an additional pair of TL1 speakers to finish out the 7.1 setup. The first movie I watched was the A-Team (BD). Lots of action and things blowing up. [insert Tim The Toolman Taylor man grunt] The speakers performed well, especially the surround with 50-cal bullets grazing my ears! The subwoofer is down firing and gives plenty of bass. I have a bonus room instead of a dedicated media room, so this system is perfect for any flick on family movie night. The price is very reasonable and Polk & Sony have never let me down in the arena of quality.

Good price and positive reviews [ Bruce Nov 24, 2016 ]
looking at various options and sources I decided to go with this system from Crutchfield. Been buying car audio from this company many years ago before cars came with acceptable audio , still got the Pioneer in our 1990 VW Vanagon. Our son also recommended the company because one can get good, no nonsense advise. [ Hartmut Oct 24, 2016 ]

mine didn't so I went and bought some monster xp speaker wire which is not very expensive and the speakers sound great, they are a good buy for this price because they sound like a more expensive surround sound system, and I also have klipsch surround system and they give them a good run for the money... I think you will need to have a receiver. In my setup I have a Denon AVR (Audio- Visual Receiver), and it drives the speakers. Whatever receiver you get will need to be at least what they call a 5.1, which means it can drive the 5 speakers plus the subwoofer. Good luck, I'm pleased with the sound I'm getting.b [ DAVID Jan 16, 2014 ]
Yes you need a receiver [ SARAH E Jan 05, 2014 ]
You will need some sort of receiver as each speaker has it's own set of two wires, and there is a separate subwoofer hook up. Some DVD players have these hookups, most do not. [ DAVID B Jan 05, 2014 ]
