Overview

Our take on the Infinity Kappa 50.7cs

Infinity Kappa component speaker systems boast an innovative low-impedance, high-efficiency design that'll provide plenty of clean, powerful output in your system.

Infinity Kappa component speaker systems boast an innovative low-impedance, high-efficiency design that'll provide plenty of clean, powerful output in your system.

The 50.7cs 5-1/4" component speaker system features a woven-glass-fiber woofer cone that delivers ultra-clean response. The Plus One+ cone design offers a larger surface area than other 5-1/4" speakers, for improved bass output and efficiency. Lightweight neodymium magnets drive the woofers with authority while saving weight — an important consideration if you're trying to shave pounds off your performance car.

The dome tweeter produces detailed, lifelike sound that's easy on the ears. Infinity's Starfish™ mounting bracket allows the system's tweeters to be installed in most factory tweeter locations. If you don't have factory tweeters, the ingenious I-mount system helps you custom install the tweeters in almost any location.

The computer-optimized outboard crossover promotes a smooth transition between the woofer and tweeter for uniform response from the lows through the highs. You'll hear every note in perfect balance.

Important Note: These Infinity speakers use a low impedance design to pull more power safely from your car stereo or amplifier. This design is compatible with all factory and aftermarket stereos.

A little costly but nice speakers

Bought these speakers and installed as my front speakers and they sound great. These blow away my Polk back speakers and I think down the road, I may have to upgrade those. Having the separate woofer and tweeter really makes the highs and lows jump out. I don't have a sub installed, but at times, it sounds like I do with these speakers. Don't let the cost scare you...if you are looking for a huge sound upgrade, go for these.

I installed these components in my 2008 Nissan Frontier in the factory locations ad powered them with an old Alpine V12 40x4 amp. The tweeters are crisp and the woofers have good midrange punch. The woofers put out little or no low bass, but this is to be expected given speaker size.

I just installed my infinity Kappa 50.7cs and and kappa 4-6s in my jeep wrangler. These 5.25 componet speakers, i thought i was not going to get as much out of them as i wanted but i have a real space issue. I was wrong these are the way to go they are crystal clear and can take the 800w amp i'm pushing them with. My ears hurt!

AWESOME!

Kevin from MARIETTA, GA on 10/4/2006

I INSTALLED THESE SPEAKERS IN THE DOORS OF MY '96 RANGER, ALONG WITH KAPPA 6X8'S IN THE REAR, AND I'M TELLING YOU THESE THINGS TOTALLY ROCK! I ORIGINALLY HAD THEM WIRED STRAIGHT TO MY PIONEER RECEIVER AND THEY SOUNDED GOOD BUT WHEN I HOOKED THEM UP TO MY PROFILE 4-CH AMP (RUNNING 90W RMS) THE SOUND WAS INCREDIBLE! THE TWEETERS AND MIDRANGE ARE VERY RICH AND CRISP, AND THE BASS HAS A GOOD KICK TO IT. KEEP IN MIND HOWEVER, THAT THESE SPEAKERS ARE BUILT FOR MIDS AND HIGHS, SO IF YOU'RE REALLY LOOKING FOR SOME THUMP GET A SUB AS WELL. THE ONLY REASON I'M LEAVING 4 STARS INSTEAD OF 5 IS BECAUSE THE TWEETERS CAN BE HARSH ON YOUR EARS AT HIGHER VOLUMES, BUT THAT IS FIXABLE WITH SOME QUICK TWEAKING. OTHER THAN THAT, THESE ARE THE BEST SPEAKERS I HAVE EVER HEARD AND ARE WELL WORTH THE PRICE.

Good stuff, but there are better

william from Lafayette, In on 9/20/2006

I purchased this along w/ the kappa 60.7cs and im impressed at the balance i get from the high's and low's. although the 60.7 is a little better and i would recommend purchasing those for the front and back. just make sure you get a awesome amp to really hear the difference, i have a alpine v12 4-channel powering those and it's amazing the clarity i get w/ the high volume and even balances out w/ my 2 12" sony xplodes and xplode amp. in conclusion i love the infinity components and recommend them to everyone.

Good speakers. The highs are great they hold up pretty good at top volume. But the mid they top out around the top range of my system and distorte just more than I would like. If your looking for loud I would go with a nice 2-way speaker like Infinity Kappa 682.7cf 6"x8". I bought a pair of these along with this system and they really impressed me<BR>

Great Value

Roy from WV on 5/16/2006

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This component set sounds excellent with just about any amp. It's 2 ohm, so it doesn't take a big amp to get big sound. I expected some loss in sound quality because of the 2 ohm impedence, but I couldn't have been more wrong. These speakers are a great value, not because of their low price but because of the money you'll save on an amp. However these speakers DO need an amp to live up to their full potiential. The highs are very accurate, and the overly bright sound that is typical of infinity speakers is not existant. The midrange is clear and has excellent response. You'll want a sub to share the load with these speakers of course. One of the best sounding seperates I've heard, and at under $300 their a great value.

SIMPLY INCREDIBLE

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just had this Component system installed, simply incredible! The highs and mids are so clear. I can now hear details that I never knew were there. I am totally amazed. I'm powering these with a KICKER 5 ch Amp. Sounds beautiful. I find myself just sitting in my driveway listenig to music. My neighbors think I'm weird but they aint got KAPPA's. If u listen to Rock, Pop or other instrumental music no sub is needed. For Hip Hop add a sub and it's all good. Very Crisp.

Powerful sound!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced a pair of Infinity Kappa 52.1i with the Infinity Kappa 50.7cs in the front door. What a huge difference. The 52.1i speakers had good quality sound but I had to adjust the fader to the front 3/4 of the total available adjustment to get balance. With the 50.7cs speakers the fader is in the nuetral position and the sound quality is awsome. I have an Alpine 4 channel amp (50 x 4) powering the 50.7cs and a pair of 63.5i 's in the rear with an MTX amp(bridge to 150 watts) powering an Infinity Perfect 10.1 sub. Great bass and mids, and great highs. Loud and crisp with power to spare and the 50.7cs's made all the difference!

Woofers

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a cone significantly larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a new basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and a significant increase in efficiency.

Woven-Glass-Fiber Woofer Cones: The woven-glass-fiber woofer material is very light and extremely stiff, minimizing cone flex. This results in very low distortion and improved clarity.

Motor Structure: The new Kappas use a Neodymium motor structure with an integrated heat sink. This design provides a massive amount of energy while minimizing mounting depth and magnet diameter. The integrated heat sink cools the motor structure efficiently, thus increasing power handling while reducing distortion.

Hi-roll Rubber Surrounds: The hi-roll rubber surrounds allow the woofers a greater range of movement, resulting in longer X-max and more bass output.

Tweeters

Tweeter Material: Each tweeter features a 1" edge-driven MMD (Metal Matrix Diaphragm) dome, resulting in increased power handling and reduced distortion at high output. This technology also allows for better integration with the woofer.

Tweeter Mounting: The I-Mount tweeter mounting system and Starfish mounting brackets give you several different ways to mount the tweeters:

  • I-Mount Tweeter Mounting System: The tweeters can be surface or flush mounted with Infinity's innovative I-Mount system:
    • Surface Mount: Surface mounting the tweeters involves screwing the surface-mount cup to the mounting location, then inserting and locking the tweeter into the cup.
    • Flush Mount: Flush mounting is made easy through the use of the threaded flush-mount adapter and plastic locking nut. Once a cutout is made, the flush-mount adapter (with the tweeter installed) is inserted into the hole. The large plastic locking nut is threaded onto the adapter (from behind the mounting surface) to hold the complete assembly securely in place. When flush mounted, the tweeters may be angled for optimum response and imaging.
  • Starfish Mounting Brackets: The Starfish mounting brackets allow the tweeters to be installed in factory locations behind the grilles:
    • Surface Mount (behind grille panel): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is screwed to the mounting surface behind the grille panel. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.
    • Flush Mount (behind grille panel): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is dropped into the cutout in the mounting surface behind the grille panel. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.
    • Bottom Mount (to grille panel): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is secured to the underside of the grille panel. The tweeter must be inserted into the bracket and locked into place before the bracket is mounted.
    • Flush Mount (in-dash location): Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is dropped into the cutout in the dash. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.

Crossovers

Crossovers: Kappa component speakers include computer-optimized, voice-matched crossovers, using audiophile quality air core inductors and polypropylene capacitors. Each crossover features an 18dB/octave, 3.5kHz high-pass network for the tweeter and an 18dB/octave, 3.5kHz low-pass network for the woofer.

Selectable Tweeter Output Level: Each crossover allows you to select the tweeter output level according to system requirements and personal preference. The tweeter level may be set to "+3 dB" or "0 dB."

Crossover Connections: The crossover inputs and outputs are gold-plated screw terminals that will accept up to 10 gauge wire.

Mounting: There are two mounting holes in the base of each crossover.

Crossover Dimensions: W=4.897", H=1.328", D=2.725"
