Infinity's Kappa Series 682.11i 5"x7"/6"x8" speakers continue in the tradition of this legendary line of speakers, offering rugged construction and impressive sound quality. Once installed, these speakers will bring out every nuance and detail in your favorite music tracks, making time spent in your car seem more like a concert than a commute.
If you're looking for natural-sounding high frequencies, Infinity uses edge-driven 1" soft dome tweeters in this system. The "edge-driven" design creates a larger tweeter that handles more power and delivers smooth response way down into midrange frequencies not covered by smaller "W"-shaped domes. You'll hear a more clearly defined soundstage where you can picture the placement of every instrument.
Infinity's UniPivot design allows you to aim each tweeter toward your ears, so you enjoy excellent stereo imaging even if the speakers are mounted way down low in your doors. Each tweeter also features a level control switch so you can boost the brightness to your taste.
If you like bass, the Kappa glass fiber woofer holds its shape when the power's cranked up, so you still get punchy and defined bass. Glass fiber weighs less than traditional materials, so you don't need a ton of power to drive this woofer. Infinity's Plus One+ woofer technology extends the cone right up to the edge of the basket, giving you more surface area than with most comparable speakers. A bigger cone means more bass to complement the superior high-frequency response.
These 2-ohm speakers are sensitive enough that you can power them with an aftermarket stereo, but you'll get your best results feeding them plenty of power from an outboard amp — up to 100 watts RMS. Grilles are not included — factory grilles are appropriate for most installations.

Pros: Quality speakers
Fantastic clarity, range with a crisp live sound! These Infinity's ROCK my daughters Ford Escape!
Pros: Superb range Easy to install with Crutchfield's quide
Replacing the Bose speakers in my 2010 Mazda 6 is no easy task, since you really should use 2-ohm impedance models to get the most out of the stock Bose system. I've had Infinity in the past, so these were the natural choice for me. What a difference!! The 6 1/2" Bose speakers were already 7 years old, and they still sounded pretty good, but they're nothing compared to the Infinitys! There's no distortion with any music at any volume, everything is crystal clear! These are perfect speakers if you simply wish to replace the stock components, and they're THE choice if you need to replace Bose speakers. I just replaced the speakers in the front doors, and these will also be installed in the rear doors in the not-too-distant future.
Pros: Easy to install Excellent quality and value at any price
Every stock speaker in my 98 F150 was shot. Replaced them with Kappas and really happy with how they sound! Very high quality...buy them!
Pros: Great sound, great fit
Clear precise sound.
Pros: Clear precise sound.
I was looking for an economical replacement for the stock speakers in my '98 F150 that wouldn't break the bank. I'm not a car audio aficionado and with the countless choices for speakers out there it would be easy to buy a less than ideal speaker. I got really lucky when I pulled the trigger on these speakers. They sound amazing. I wish I would have decided to upgrade years ago.
Pros: Excellent sound. Great price. Easy to install.
The best speaker for me hands down!!!
Pros: Great clean mids and highs with punchy bass. I've also been an Infinity person for all my cars for good reason. In my opinion they're the best!!!
Cons: None what so ever ....
OMG will order again awesome
Pros: These speakers rock my factory ford radio
Great speakers... The high and med that these speakers put out I wonderful... The bass is ok...
Pros: High and Meds are great
Cons: Bass is ok
Excellent sounding speaker, I purchased one pair for my F150 Supercrew to replace my front speakers. They replaced some 3-way Pioneers I had purchased about 3 years ago from Crutchfield. I had one of the Pioneers quit working from time to time. I was so pleased with them I purchased another pair for my rear doors. They have great bass and with a low ohm rating put out great sound. I just have a Pioneer head unit running them with no additional amp. If you don't have an amp hooked up, these speakers work great with a standard head unit.
Pros: Easy install, efficient speakers, no complaints.
I have always been a Kappa fan, so when one of my factory speakers in my vehicle went bad, I knew what I was going to use to replace it. Best choice I made. The speaker sounds amazing and has improved the overall sound in the cabin of my truck. Install was easy and didn't take long. Love these speakers, now I am kind of hoping the rear speakers go out, so they can be replaced as well. Great product, awesome sound.
Pros: Fit, finish. No issues with installation
Installed these in my 2014 Ford F150 and they sound great. they have very clear high and pretty good mids. the lows are not that impresive and expected much more out of them. Overall they are great speakers and do sound better than the stock speakers so i cant complain but they are a bit on the expensive side and i thought they would deliver much more.
Pros: Clear highs and decent mids
Cons: Price, and lows are lacking
Best speakers I've ever own. Installation was a breeze. I put them in the front of my 2003 Ford Ranger Edge. They are connected to a Kenwood deck. The sound goes way beyond my expectations. The highs from the tweeter scream and the bass from the sub makes listening to my music fun again. You can feel the bass lines. There not a pair of 10s or 12s but they do produce noticeable bass. Pretty impressive coming from 6×8s being run of a Kenwood deck. I recommend these to anyone interested in an upgrade.
Pros: Easy to install Sound quality Quick shipping
Cons: No cons for me. Price was compensated with the quality and sound from the speakers.
The sound of the speakers are really awesome. They also put out good low bass but you will not get the thump of these speakers as you would on 8, 10, or 12 inch woofers. The overall sound is very clean over the whole frequency spectrum but I would suggest running a separate amp to take advantage of what these speakers can do. These speakers are really efficient. I bought these to try to match the efficency of my 98 db woofer. I am still working on getting these woofers going but a lower power amp will be used on these 12 inch woofers.
Pros: Good size magnet on these speakers with a smooth throw on the bass speaker. These speakers come really close to component separates. Bought these to use in the back seat area of my car.
Cons: One thing I did not like about this speakers is that a screw driver needs to be used to tighten the speaker wires in the back. It would have been better to use push button terminals on the speakers. Trying to install these on a vertical surface can be a challenge.
Just installed these into my Ford Escape today. They look and sound great and I like the small Infinity badges that were provided that I adhered to the existing stock grills to jazz things up a bit. The transaction was very good with my adviser's help and shipping was prompt. With all of this said, there are some things I'd like to share regarding the installation. First, the speakers come with a premium wire connection requiring the installer to cut the ends off the supplied speaker harness. The wires must be trimmed of insulator and twisted to fit the holes that provide screw-down (locking) installation. Second, the guide instructs that a 7/32 socket is needed and that is incorrect! A 1/4" socket will fit the OEM screws that hold the stock speakers in place. Use these same screws to install the replacement speakers. The pack of supplied hardware is not needed. Lastly, the installation guide recommends removing the wire connectors and door opening cable to completely remove the inside door panel. You don't need to do this as the panel can hang in position with adequate room to remove/mount the speakers. These we're a direct fit for the doors cut-out opening and installation was quite smooth. So... I'm very happy overall but wanted to address some inconsistencies with the installation guide so buyers will understand what's needed. The guide should address the above points & add a wire cutter and wire stripper to the list of needed tools with explanation to cut the wires!
Pros: Great look, performance, and relative ease of installation.
Cons: Please see my notes above regarding inconsistencies in the installation guide. The process requires additional tools (not mentioned) and notice that the wire harness must be cut and prepared to fit the speaker. None of this was indicated in the installation guide. Lastly, the white wire is "positive" and black is "negative". Knowing this is important to achieve a proper installation.
OUTSTANDING!! I have a 2004 F 150 SuperCrew, I have these in all for doors powered only by a Kenwood Excelon DDX 793. (I also have a Rockford 600.2 and 2 10" MB Quart shallow mount subs for bass)What a killer package with just the deck and 4 speakers!!!!
Pros: Excellent Infinity sound and quality
Cons: None!!! I would buy these again in a second!!
Great sound. Easy to install
Pros: Quality sound
Cons: None at this time.
3rd pair blown. Will not handle Bluetooth ringing tone. Keeps blowing. Sounds great when not blown.
Cons: expensive not durable with cell phone ringing in the ford F150
Fit well, sound great. Appreciate the recommendation from staff at crutchfield
These speakers fit nicely in my 2013 Ford Raptor as replacements for all doors. The system is the supposed Sony 700 watt which sounds okay, but I knew the speakers were sub-par. No issues at all with fitting these pretty Infinity speakers. I kept everything else stock except for the Sony subwoofer which I also changed out with an RF dual cone. I did not up-amp the sub as I don't care about a chest-throbbing bass. I Dynamatted (not a word, but you get the meaning) each door, both inside and out, before the speaker install, and I also used a Hushmat behind each speaker. Changing out the Raptor's speakers was a good idea, but I'm sure much can be attributed to the Dynamat and Hushmat. I can crank up my system without the sound cutting out when the volume is too high. The bass is tight; music sounds so much fuller. I'm hearing notes and instruments I've never noticed before. I must say, though, that the treble (with my original settings) is almost painful. I have had to cut it way, way back just so I can stand it. No big deal, though. I'm happy with the speakers and dampeners. It's an easy, rewarding upgrade.
Pros: Easy upgrade No mods necessary for a fit Tight bass Can Crank
Cons: Painful highs but easy to adjust
The search for good car speakers is a challenge. You have to ask your self, do I want clarity or bass? Or both? I have a 2005 Ford Ranger and I had a good sounding factory system, but I was looking for more. I had thought about Alpine, JBL, Kicker, and Polk. My goal was not to spend a fortune and I wanted clarity with bass. I had called customer service at Crutchfield and they were able to help me make a decision on specific on each device and give me their thoughts on the speakers them selves. They had recommended the infinity Kappas. I did some more research and finally ordered the infinity's. The infinity's are very clear with all music and have very good bass. I have them hooked up to my factory head unit right now but later on I will make the change and they will sound crisper. What great is that these speakers are 2ohms, that means these speakers are going to pull more power out of the head unit or amplifier. The pivoting tweeters make it easy to move the sound stage to best suit your car. Overall these speakers get a 10 out of 10 from me because of their clarity, bass and ease of installation. These are almost as good as Bose in my opinion, but still strides ahead of other speakers.
Pros: Bass is amazing Clarity is very crisp and mid range is very clear
Cons: Can't find one
Great sounding speakers. Installed 2 in the front door panel locations. Easy install except I had to trim a few of the mounting tabs on the speakers themselves or they wouldn't fit in the factory locations.i didn't need to remove for panels by doing this, only speaker grill. Also these speakers have screw in type positive and negative ports so wiring harness needs to be clipped as it has female connectors. These have great bass output and I recommend sound deadening around then to keep metal from vibrating and making speakers sound muffled. Going to add 2 more to the neck. Powering them is an Alpine in dash which puts out some great power for the moment but maybe later might add in separate amp. Highly recommend these though.
Pros: Great bass output Mids sound great Easy to install
Cons: Highs sound a little scratchy at higher volume, can probably be fixed with a crossover
Upgraded the factory speakers on my 2012 Mustang that has the basic stereo (no subwoofers). The speakers are incredible and I highly recommend them to anyone.
Pros: Sound, lows, highs. Installation instructions are included
Cons: There is a plastic piece sticking off the speakers that impede installation. I used scissors to shorten it.
The speakers fit right in the stock mounting holes, it was very easy to install. I am very impressed with the sound quality, the lows are right on time and midrange and highs are great. I would recommend these speakers to anyone who wants to make the stock stereo sound 100 percent better.
Cons: I can not find any.
nice solid speakers, sound is great, perfect fit, best price, fast shipping. highly recommend.
Pros: well built, powerfull sound, screw down terminal easy solid connection, great product.
I bought this to replace my 2009 Ford Escape factory speakers. I'm extremely satisfied with this purchase, the difference is avismal between this a factory speaker. But the best way to get full potential it's with an amp, although without one they sound amazing! Definitely recommend this speakers for a upgrade.
Pros: Great highs and mids. Bass is great
Speakers sound great. Replaced some old JL speakers, the new speakers sound way better. Using a Pioneer Gm-d8604 to push them, after a few crossover adjustments they sound like the best speakers ive ever owned.
Pros: Sound quality
Cons: None that i can think of
Sounds great, good fit and looks nice
Pros: Easy instructions.
Cons: I didn't do it sooner.
Been a Kappa fan since I bought my first car audio speakers. I gotta say though these new Kappas are as amazing as ever. Right noe they are just being run off my head unit and they scream. I cant wait till I get my 4 channel hooked up so they can really scream.
Pros: great sound, what more do you really want from a set of speakers
Cons: Price. They are very much on the high end of what a good set of door speakers should run. If they were not onsale i probably would not have bought them.
They sound good, installation in my 2012 f150 was simple...took more time taking the door panels off than installing these to the front and rear. They did sound a bit tinny and I ended up adding a sub, overall sound is far better now that what came stock.
Pros: Simple easy install, good sound, affordable.
Cons: none I am aware of
Amazing! This is the newest pair of speakers I added to my truck, I wish I bought them sooner. Great bass, loud, good talk show sound. All around amazing, using a JL audio amp to power them
Pros: Sound quality, bass, highs
Direct replacements for my F150 w/stock Sony 700W system. Fit was perfect. The highs and mids sound great now but these infinity's cannot handle the watts that my stock system puts out. The lows/bass get distorted if I turn the bass up 75% - 100% at 50% - 100% volume.
Pros: Good quality highs and mids. Perfect direct fit.
Cons: Cannot handle the stock Sony system watts on the lows/bass.
These are incredible speakers! I never knew my factory speakers were so horrible until I put these in and turned them on. All the frequencies are so clear and crisp; I highly recommend them. Also, these speakers will fit in the back doors of a 2003 F-150.
Pros: Crisp notes in all frequencies that stay crisp at higher volumes. Deep bass.
Cons: The wire hookup on the speakers is a hole with a tightening screw, not a harness or spade.
Great sound even when not pushed with an amp...worth the money!
Cons: No grills
My 2013 F150 Limited needed a better sound and factory wasnt doing it !! Added 4 of these Kappas and Change the Sub and Added a JL 700/5 and WOW ....What a difference !!
Pros: Handles Plenty of Power with no Issue !!
The 682.11 loudspeaker is a well rounded 2-way power hungry machine. The frequency is great, 100RMS makes them really show their abilities, their reproduction is powerful and clean, highly recommend. the 2-ohm impedance is great.
Pros: value and efficiency
These speakers are amazing! I dont know what people are talking about them lacking bass. the ones that I have hit pretty hard for their size and the bass is clean and sounds amazing. Maybe it is just my truck size(toyota tacoma xtra cab) but they are amazing!
Pros: Amazing Highs Hard hitting Lows Great sound Amazing for the price
Installation was very straight forward. I was really expecting more for the money. I have always been a dedicated kicker supporter. Against my better judgement I deviated from what I've always used and went with the internet's advice. Infinity had a well rounded review backing. Perhaps everyone else knows something I don't. I've always ran aftermarket head units with the sync system from ford I wanted to maintain those features but increase the terrible sound quality. The clarity is a modest advance at best. Low ends are decent at low volumes but get distorted quickly. Mids and highs are cleared in comparison to stock. To be fair, I'm comparing this review to my previous vehicle with an aftermarket head unit 750 watt mids and highs amp and two 12's on a 2800 class D. Granted I wasn't expecting like results. But for someone that can appreciate the radio cranked I was the least bit impressed with the quality these speakers deliver. With amps and aftermarket HU's sure I'm sure they are okay. But for the average guy that wants to simply improve the quality all around I don't know that these speakers are worth the money. Not on a stock set up.
Great replacement for the stock Sony speakers in my F150. Even without an additional amp, just the Sony "700w" amp, the clarity on these blows the stock speakers out of the water.
Pros: Easy to install Great sound
This is my second set of these for the rear doors of my 05 F150. They sound amazing and being able to reduce treble with the button is a great feature. Now that I have these on all four corners driven by my pioneer head unit it sounds fantastic. Highly recommend these!
Pros: crisp highs and enough bass to make the system sound great.
Cons: none I've experienced
Merry Christmas to me! Purchased these as a BOGO special for cyber Monday special because I needed 4 speakers for 4 doors. Installed these in my 2006 F-150 Reg Cab. Big difference over factory. Radio is great but CD playback is excellent! But looking to install a amp and a new double din to finish my full upgrade. I can hear lows and highs very clearly, base is good but once I get the amp installed should bring out the full potential in the speakers. Crutchfield says it wouldn't fit my vehicle without some custom modification, stated the tweeter is too high but it installed without any issues in all four doors without any modification. Excellent Upgrade. PS. Customer Service was great also!
Pros: Great replacement speakers, great sound.
Cons: Waited to long to replace my factory stock speakers.
Just installed these in my 2011 Ford Escape Limited with premium sound package. Great replacement for factory door speakers. Now I have richer mids and lows are a little better. I was originally considering the Rockford Fosgate Punch, but a Crutchfield Rep advised me I would be happier with speakers with a higher dB, in this case 94 dB, since I didn't plan on replacing anything but the door speakers. After seeing some other reviews, I really want to upgrade my head unit and factory wiring to really make these speakers sound like they should. I am happy with the result.
Pros: Great factory replacement. Like the rotating tweeter! Perfect fit!
Bought these on a BOGO special because I intended to spend about $200.00 total on the four speakers which meant I was going to get lower quality speakers. I paid 179.00 for the first pair and received the second pair free. Installing them in my 2000 Ford F-150 Super Cab was very easy. I Googled how to remove the door panels and was surprised how easy that was. I received the adapters to hook these to the factory wiring harness which made the installation very easy as well. The only thing I had to do was cut off the spade connectors since the Infinity speakers use a screw in wire connector. After I finished installing the new head unit I was ready to try out the new system. I paired these speakers with a Pioneer DEH-X6700BT head unit which is the exact same unit I put in my 1957 Porsche Speedster. I was very impressed with the sound quality from these speakers. I expected good sound from the Infinity speakers and they delivered. The bass is decent for a 5X7 speaker and the highs are very crisp which I like. I can turn these up to a decent volume without distorting them which makes listening to my favorite songs really nice. These are definitely not component speakers but neither did I buy these to be that. I bought these to be replacements for my factory in-door speakers and for that purpose they are performing better than expected. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a very nice replacement speaker for their poor performing factory speakers.
Pros: Great sound Easy to install Well built speakers
Cons: None so far
Great sound, tweeters can become too bright, make sure door is sealed or bass can get sloppy.
Pros: Good bass and treble, good build quality
Installed 2 pair of these in my 2012 Ford Escape Limited with SYNC system. The speakers have good mid-range and sound better than the flimsy factory speakers. I think these will really shine with additional amplifier power though. The factory system just doesn't do them justice. This was the first step in the plan to upgrade the entire system and hopefully the Infinity's will really slam with some decent power.
Pros: Easy to install. Excellent build quality. I like the screw down terminals for the wires. A nice feature is that you can rotate the tweeter to a more desirable angle also. The sound is good but will most likely be a lot better with added power.
Cons: Really need a power amp or a decent head unit to reach their full potential.
I just installed 4 of these in my 2013 Ford Taurus (1 in each door) and what a difference! The factory speakers had muddy bass and no clear high end. By contrast, the Infinity Kappa's produce clear, crisp sounds throughout the entire range of what the factory HU can provide. Replacing the factory speakers with nearly any 1/2-way decent product will make an improvement, but these Infinity's knocked it out of the park - and the ball still hasn't landed! The Ford radio has a 3-channel equalizer (low, mid, high). With the factory speakers there was no good setting, just varying degrees of mediocre. By contrast, I now have the low set to neutral (neither adding nor subtracting), the mid set to +1, and the high set to +2. I also have the balance & fade set slightly to the back and right. I still plan to install amps and a DSP as these speakers will benefit from additional power and a better signal.
Pros: Excellent sound; the set-screw wire connectors are a very nice touch; the bottom mount adapter rings allow the Kappa's to match the thickness of the factory speakers; perfect fit!
Cons: You kiddin' me?! These things ROCK!
Replaced the factory door speakers on 2014 mustang with shaker and navigation. Had to get different mounts. I got the mounts from the Ford dealership. Mounts are pretty cheap. Just call them up, tell them what you're doing and they know exactly what you need. The new sound from these speakers will be lots better than the oem. Louder, clearer, you'll feel like you're in a concert hall. They work great with the stock door subs. The oem door speakers are 2 ohm as are these Infinity's. The rears are 3 ohm. I measured them with a fluke meter. The replacement mounts, you'll have to cut out some of the holding tabs with some dykes and use slightly longer screws. I have a pair of infiniti reference on back order for the rear deck.
Big improvement over stock F150 speakers. Easy install with included adapter cables.
Pros: Sound great
Cons: probably could use an amp to really make them sing
Awsome speakers, i have the sony system and they blow them away.
Pros: They rock. Well worth the $. Easy to put in
Cons: None. Abstly none.
I dunno, maybe it boils down to personal preference, but these speakers in my mind fall way short of Infinity's older line of speakers. I had 4 (5x7's) of Infinity's old titanium dome tweeter aluminum woofer design speakers, and they produced way better mids and highs than these do. These speakers to me, sound like factory no tweet speakers just amplified. There is no crispness to the highs, at all. You might as well not have any tweeters. Like I said, it might boil down to personal preference, but soft tweeters do not sound good to me, especially when you pair with a good pair of sub-woofers and amp. You need some good quality highs that are loud and crisp to balance some good bass. I have two of Infinity's top of the line subs that I am now trying to find a replacement for, because their subs stink now as well. They sounded good for 6 months, but now they are blown and sound like crap. Sad to say, Infinity's older aluminum coned subs were way better too. I had them for 6 years and they always sounded the same, awesome! Their subs are crap now too. I loved my Kenwood deck, with my Infinity speakers, and subs, but they redesigned and went totally downhill. I still have my old pair of Infinity 5x7's in my front doors because they sounded too good to get rid of. Now I thought about replacing them, but no one even makes a speaker as good with a titanium tweeter. This is a huge step back if you ask me, come on get it together car audio manufacturers!
Pros: Fit great, look great
Cons: Lackluster sound, no brightness to the highs. Good quality bass will drown these things out.
Pros: loud as heck
I installed these in my 2009 Ford F -150 Supercab, both front and back doors. Over the past few months I have researched many different speakers and had asked a lot of questions of the advisors at Crutchfield. I finally decided on these speakers when they went on sale, but after I installed them, I would have paid twice the price. Eventually I intend to upgrade the entire system, having talked with an advisor I started with the speakers, I can't believe the difference in quality of sound that this one upgrade has made. From rich bass to astonishingly clear high range all without flattening out as the volume increases, these speakers deliver, I cannot say enough good things about them. Along with their wide range of knowledge about all things high fidelity, Crutchfield's installation guide made the job of swapping the factory speakers for the upgrades so easy, it took me less than two hours. Between Infinity's top quality products and Crutchfield's knowledgeable and friendly staff, there is no reason why you have to suffer with inferior car audio. I can't wait to get the rest of the system upgraded.
Pros: Awesome sound, easy installation, very reasonable price, awesome sound.
Cons: I didn't buy them sooner
I'm very happy with the sound of these speakers. I replace the two in the door and the two in the rear deck. Much better highs and lows than stock.
Pros: They do fit in the front door but you have to cut out the plastic alignments tabs for the stock speakers. I used a dremel and cut them out in less than a minute. All the screw holes lined up as well.
Cons: none for me
I installed these in a 2012 F-150. They were direct fit replacements for stock. I used the treble boost and replaced all four doors at the same time. I really like the sync hands free calling so I elected not to replace my HU. I think the sound is really good for not using amplifiers or any other signal processing. I do plan to replace the tweeters in the "a-pillars" in the future and I think this will help as well. Be sure to purchase banana connectors for the screw in terminals as the OEM adapters sent by Crutchfield are spade connectors. I just cut them off and added the banana connectors. For as simple a process as this was, I think the sound improvement for the money is well spent!
Pros: Sound quality, treble enhancement, direct fit
Cons: Screw in connectors, not spades
Sound great in my 03 PT Cruiser they fit and work amazing! Just what the car needed. Recommend!
Pros: Sound, easy install, nothing bad!
Installed these in my 2013 F150 in the front - they sound great. I plan on replacing the rear speakers I bought with this pair because they sound superior. Look great, sound great, and easy to install, what more can you ask for?
Pros: Quality and ease of installation
Cons: None so far!
The factory speakers in my 2013 Ford Edge sounded terrible. The Infinity Kappa 682.11cf made the factory system sound much better. Using the Bojo Trim Panel Tools helped remove the door panels, so I recommend them as well.
Pros: Improved Clarity and bass.
I put these in my F150 and they sound great. I put them in the frt and rear doors and they scream.
Pros: Compact with high quality dound
Cons: None yet
Not only was the Crutchfield website able to pick the perfect speakers to fit my 2003 F-150 but the installation instructions made the install quick and easy. WOW! What an improvement over the factory speakers.
Pros: Having the Crutchfield experts help with selection and installation.
Putting 5x7 coax in the stock location of a ford van. Running 50-70watts to them off a new Alpine f300 and a Kenwood double din with Xm. I tried the Polk dbs, the Kenwood Excelon and the Jl audio but it wasn't until I found the Kappas was I able to seamlessly meet the alpine Type R 12" sub I had in the back. The Kappas go low enough and really kick so that it feels like I have all my bass in front of me. And the swivel tweeter allowed me to play with different positions until I finally got my soundstage up on top the dash instead of sounding like it was coming from the sides like the other speakers. They really are a quality product with a lot of versatility and great sound. I liken them to a set of $400 Boston Acoustic components I used to have. But those needed 300 watts and the infinitys only need 75.
These speakers are a great improvement over factory speakers. I installed them in my 2013 f 150 super crew. The speakers sound great with the sync radio. ...Good Sounds !!
Pros: Fit perfectly in factory cut outs. Excellent feature is the adjustable angle of the tweeter . It allows the highs to travel at a 30 degree angle to listening level.
Cons: None yet.
Excellent speakers. I have these installed in an '03 Ford Ranger Super Cab and they rock! I listen to all genres of music and am pleased to say these are the best speakers I've owned. The highs are very clear and do not muddy until volume is well beyond a safe volume. The mids are well delivered for not being externally amplified. I only have a KDC-BT955HD head unit powering them. The lows leave something to be desired as with all unamplified speakers. I have them rounded out with an 8" JL Audio W3V3 subwoofer in a factory sealed box powered by an Alpine MRP-500 and the combination is perfect. Very highly recommended.
Pros: Clear highs, powerful mids, excellent sound without an amplifier.
Cons: My only con is the absent lows which could be fixed if I amplified the speakers.
Speakers are very nice out of the box. It's kind of confusing with the adapter plates on the speakers, your not sure if they stay on or take them off because os the thickness of the originals. I chose to take them off. I did have to go out and buy a 5.5 mm socket for the speaker removal and install. I bought two sets for the front and back. Had to send one set back due to one speaker stopped working. Crutchfield is sending me another set. After the install of the front, wow what a difference between the front and the rear. Can't wait to install the rears when they come in. I am thinking of adding an amp if all goes well to boost the speakers as they should be heard. Be careful tightening the screws for the speaker wires. You have to cut the adapters that they provide to use on these speakers.
Pros: Great sound out of these speakers even without an amplifier
Cons: A little more depth for the install with these speakers in your ford f-150
The sound from the factory stereo system in my 2012 Ford Expedition EL was pathetic. So I spoke with Cooper at Crutchfield and I told him, "let's do the speakers first". He expressed some concerns about going with the 2 ohm Kappa speakers without an amplifier, but I assured him I would be adding an amp in a few months, and that it would be OK for a while. So I had the Kappa speakers installed, and I was very unhappy with the new sound. So 24 hours later, I installed an Alpine MRP-F450 amplifier that I bought from Crutchfield a few years ago. At 100W RMS x 4 @ 2 ohms, it was a PERFECT spec match for the 100W RMS 2 ohm Kappa speakers. Now it was time for a new sound check...and WOW!!!! I could not believe it was the same Kappa speakers. At both low and high volumes, the sound is so perfectly clear. And when you turn it up, oh boy. Real loud! I will be calling Cooper in a few months to order a double-din headunit that will retain my Ford Sync functions. Or heck maybe I will do it tomorrow!
Pros: They sound magnificent.
Cons: Absolutely must have an amplifier.
I put these in my F350 and they sounded decent amped, then I completely dynamatted both doors and they sounded really good. The only thing missing was a nice, high sound stage and good imaging. The speakers in my truck are about knee height so it's tough to bring the sound up. I was gonna upgrade to a component set of these, but those run about $300! I decided to try something stupid and cheap instead. I pulled the stickers off the back of these, cut the little tweeter wire, pulled the tweeter off, and wired it back up with an extra 4 feet to play with. The tweeter wire was through a hole in the center of the speaker and the tweeter was just glued on, so it was a pretty simple job. I put the tweeters on my dash at the bottom corners of my windshield. I honestly thought it would sound terrible without a proper crossover, but it had the same good quality as before. The tweets were a little loud (closer to my head) so I just pushed the little -3dB button and they fell right in line. After testing some locations and angles, I now have a broad sound stage across my dash with the same great Infinity sound quality as always. You would be lucky to find a set of components that sound this good for less than $250. I say these are excellent speakers for the money. I am amazed that they sound so good even after what I did to them.
Pros: Sound quality is very good for the price, they separate the instruments well, don't have harshness, can be turned into "components" by a redneck and sound even better, don't cause listening fatigue
Cons: The voice range mid can get a bit peaky as is common for 5x7 , they need dynamat to stop resonance in some vehicles, can't be bridged on most 4 channel amps because of the 2 ohm impedence
I own a 2012 F=150 Super Crew, Replaced all 4 factory what they call speakers with these Infiniti's. AWESOME!! The sound is so much more crisp and clear, the low end isn't the greatest, but for a 6x8 you can't expect the world to change, but it's still a great upgrade. Also, when I received my speakers, one of the tweeters were broken, I called Crutchfield, they are wonderfully great! Within 5 minutes they had a replacement on it's way and completely hassle free. Thanks Crutchfield!!
Pros: Great, period
This is a long term review of these speakers from 4 years ago. They still had the glass woofer material and 2 ohm impedance but the tweeter was a metal dome instead of textile. I recently replaced the 10 year old infinity kappas with these 4 year old ones in my 2000 F350 with an amp. They still sound as good as when I bought them. They are so powerful that I had to dynamat all inside my doors because my door panel was bouncing on drum kicks. I added a sub and turned my high pass filter on these all the way up (120Hz), but they still put out a lot of bass. I got to listen to this new model and the new tweeter balances them out better, the sound is more natural and smooth. Infinity is great about giving you a good quality sound, like a home theater system. It sounds like my BMW stereo did except it's in a loud old farm truck, and I'm only running 3 speakers versus 11 in the BMW...
Pros: Tough, sound ok with no amp, awesome with an amp, powerful enough to run without a sub and be decent
Cons: Need dynamat if your car hasn't got good sound dampening
Was looking for something to take my Shaker 500 sound out of the stone ages. Sound was very muddy. Always liked Infinity solutions so thought I would give these a shot. WOW what a difference they made!!! I now have great highs and mids and even increased the bass quality quite a bit. I have and will continue to recommend these to anyone!
Pros: Direct fit for Mustang 5x7 speakers in doors and rear deck, Drastically improved the sound quality, and can be used if I decide to go with custom amps down the road.
Cons: Haven't found any yet!
These Infinity Kappa 682.11cf are the perfect fit for most Ford Vehicles including the Edge. They sound amazing compared to the factory speakers and will sound even better with an aftermarket amplifier! Highly Recommended!
Pros: Perfect Fit, can adjust the tweeter for the perfect sound stage, amazing sound quality!
I have a 2011 F-150 with Sync and wasnt sure whether to replace the speakers and add an amp later, or go with a helix or other system to optimize the sound from the stock system. I chose to start with these speakers, and it didn't disappoint. The muddy sound is gone, replaced by crisp smooth sound across the range! Next step: amp. But for now I am very about investing in these speakers.
Pros: Excellent sound across the audio spectrum, suprisingly good even in the bass range. Highly recommended.
Cons: None really. The speakers live up to my expectations. Instructions could be better for putting in the foam at the backside of the speaker, but thats not a big deal at all to me.
works great in my 2002 expeditionfor the rear doors, has awesome midbass, and tweeters are adjustable 2 point in the right direction, they took all the power I could throw at them :-)
Pros: easy installation great sound love the fact that I can get 2 ohm power!
Cons: couldn't find anything bad about them
Great speakers, delivery was fast!
Pros: Great sound
Nice easy fit , as usual with Crutchfield's recommendation. The sound I wonderful in my Mustang but unfortunately now I MUST replace the front speakers to balance out the prefect rear sound.
Pros: Well built, easy fit, great sound! A huge upgrade from the OEM speakers.
Cons: None yet. You will have to change/alter how the speaker wires hook up to this speaker since they don't have spade end terminals - they have hole inserts with screws to clamp down the wire. No big deal!
I have a 2011 f150 and the stock speakers were horrid. These speakers make me look forward to driving around
Cons: nothing yet
It's sad that you have to replace speakers in a $40,000 truck but we own 2 GM vehicles which made listening to these Ford made in China paper speakers unbearable so on to review I was told by Crutchfield not to buy these speakers if I was not going to amp them which I plan to do later and I always trust and listen to the Crutchfield reps but I have been checking on 6x8 speakers for over a year and had to buy these Infinitys and they are awesome and can't wait to amp them I put 4 in my crew cab and can't understand the people saying they don't have any bass compared to factory speakers they are so clear and have great mid bass with no amp I didn't increase tweeter db button, sorry Crutchfield but I promise I will amp them.
Pros: Great clear unbelievable sound
Cons: None, PERIOD
Love the high's, I'm getting with these.
Pros: easy install, great high's and mid's
Way better than the factory door speakers and a perfect fit.
Pros: Clear, loud, and great quality
Cons: No grill option for my rear doors which dont have panels to cover them.
Installed fronts in my Mazda 3 during my lunch hour today. WOW, huge difference. Another set on order for the rear doors. Man the stock speakers are junk! :) Wow, Wow, Wow!!! Goes nice with my new Sony head, now to save up for the AMP and Dynamat and the little 3 will be rocking to RUSH on the USB stick twentyfour-seven :)
Great speakers for the $. They don't beat out some full component sets I have seen and owned. They are enough to fill the cab of my F-150 XLT ext cab without using any rear speakers. I would recommend them.
Pros: Loud, clean, full lows and mids
Cons: Highs are lacking and can be tinny at times
Makes nice crisp sound and louder than expected even knowing I was putting out relativly low power from the reciever without amps.
Pros: directional sound from the centers
Cons: Kind of deep, watch for tight fits.
These Kappas are the Bose of auto speakers. Sound quality is unsurpassed.
Cons: You have to pay for quality.
Sound quality is excellent when compared to factory speakers. These don't have quite the amount of bass as the factory speakers running off just the factory HU, but the quality of sound is 10x better than with factory. Maybe they need more time to "break-in" for some of the lower notes? Future plans are to run an amp to these to boost their sound. Going to install a small sub to take care of the lower notes.
Pros: Great Mids and Highs Easy to Install
Cons: Need to run these with an Amp to take full advantage of their capabilities
Great speakers!! Kind of wish they came with grilles though
Pros: crystal clear
Cons: no grilles
I installed these all four in the doors in about an hour and a half. The sound was incredible over the factory speakers. I will be installing an amplifier shortly.
Pros: Simple installation, excellent sound, tweeter position adjustment, very efficient
Cons: None so far
these speakers sound great with an amp...very satisfied
Installed 4 of these in my f150, one in each door. I find that these speakers needed a bit of a break in time. Bass is really good, they go pretty low for their size (6X8 in all 4 doors). Highs are nice, and have an adjustable tweeter (flat, or +3 dB). excellent upgrade from stock speakers. Running off stock head unit. Adding a 4 channel amp today to give them some extra juice. So far, so good.
Pros: exact fit, Nice gold plated screw terminals for speaker wires, super easy install with the Crutchfield adapters
Cons: None yet.
If you are looking for a 6x8 speaker that really rocks then buy these speakers. I am never happy truly satisfied and can normally find the smallest thing in a speaker to complain about but not with these. I have them connected to Rockford PBR 300 and they are thumping. Deep bass and solid highs . I promise you if you buy these speakers and power them right you will not be disappointed.
Pros: Bass, highs, adjustable tweeter
Cons: Cost but you get your money's worth.
Big upgrade over stock "premium sound" speakers in my Explorer. Just what I needed.
Pros: Sound great!
I installed these 6x8's in the front door of my 2013 Mustang GT. First off, they are a drastic improvement over the factory speakers (which sound as if the music is coming from inside a cardboard box). The highs are crisp and clear and the sound from the tweeters is made even better with the ability to swivel the tweeter head for improved imaging. The mid-range is also very clear. The speakers provide great sound at any volume with a variety of music genres. I can not speak to the bass level of these speakers as the factory Shaker 500 system splits the bass notes to the subwoofers mounted in the front doors. To Crutchfield's credit they did not provide fitment recommendations in the front door of the 2013 Mustang, and once I took the door panel off I could see why. However with a drill and a small drill bit I was still able to mount these speakers securely using the three factory mounting screws.
Pros: Amazing highs with great clarity. Well built. Swiveling tweeter for better imaging. Tweeter strength adjustability using the button on the front of the tweeter.
Replaced OEM speakers as the only upgrade to F-150 system. MAJOR IMPROVEMENT. I'm impressed
Pros: High quality
I've always been a fan of Infinity, but this is the first of their Kappa line that I've purchased. I normally use their "reference" line of speakers. These are definitely a step up from the reference series, and also a step up from most other speakers on the market. The clarity of these particular speakers challenges even Focal speakers in my opinion. Also, they go low enough to present the bass in any music, though not to the point of thumping dubstep. The imagining is really awesome on these things, especially with well-recorded tracks. Listening to a good recording of almost any Jazz piece really shows the detail in your music. The only thing I've noticed that I don't like is it sounds like the bass is emanating from the floor with these. It is probably just my car though... but it's still worth mentioning. While listening to a Miles Davis piece, the trumpets and sax were extremely clear, and the imagining was absolutely awesome. However, the lower jazz bass had less clear imaging, and sounded to be coming from beneath me. Despite that, it was still very clear on the bass, it just was harder to place in the sound stage. Like I said, this is probably because of my car and how the sound resonates inside of it. Other than that (Very very minor tidbit) these things are outstanding.
Pros: Awesome imaging, extremely clean and clear sound. Very detailed. They go low... 40hz is a reasonable rating. And they stay clean in the basses.
Cons: Some bass instruments have 'bleh' and average imaging... possibly do to the resonance of my car.

Plus One Woofer Cones: The Plus One speaker cones offer more surface area than other speakers that fit in the same size opening. This is accomplished by using a new basket design and hi-roll surround. The result is greater bass output and a significant increase in efficiency.
Formed Glass Fiber Woofer Cones: This formed glass fiber material is very light and extremely stiff, minimizing cone flex. This results in very low distortion and improved clarity.
iCGM frames: The Kappa series speaker baskets are made of composite Injected Carbon Glass Matrix (iCGM). iCGM is lighter and stronger than stamped steel; it retains its shape, even when mounted on uneven surfaces (common in car mounting locations), plus offers exceptional damping of any resonances.
Edge Driven Dome Tweeters: Each speaker has a 1" Edge-driven textile soft dome tweeter. An edge-driven tweeter has better dispersion characteristics and allows for a lower crossover frequency than typical tweeters of the same size, which improves imaging. The result is improved vocals and musical clarity. The tweeter also has an adjustable output level, +0 dB (flat) and +3 dB.
UniPivot Tweeter: The tweeter is angled and can be rotated about 315° after installation. This allows you to direct the tweeters toward the listeners, very useful for speakers mounted low in a door.
High-Output Design: The high output 2-ohm voice coil design compensates for the high in-line resistance of small gauge factory wiring and extracts every watt from factory receivers, increasing overall system output and efficiency (relative to 4 ohm speakers). The speaker's 2.0-ohm impedance combined with the impedance of your speaker wire provides a true 4-ohm load to your connected headunit or amplifier. The speakers also benefit from increased power when you upgrade the wire and add aftermarket amplifiers, designed to power a 2-ohm load.
Size: These speakers fit many 5x7 and 6x8 applications.
Terminals: The input terminals are gold-plated set screws that will accept up to 12 gauge bare wire.
Power Handling: Although Infinity lists the RMS power handling as 100 watts, they also list the recommended power range as 5-150 watts RMS. We've opted to list the more conservative 100 watt RMS figure on the specifications page.

It all depends on how much of the potential you want to bring out of those speakers. Running off a factory headunit will give you definitely better sound qualty and frequency response than any factory speakers. Stepping up to just about any aftermarket headunit will increase the performance even more and volume capability depending on the wattage output of that headunit. To enjoy the ful potential of these speakers which is amazing with the right amp, I would at somepoint go to an external full range amp at least 50 watts/channel. Note these are 2ohm speakers, so get an amp that will drive that type of load, Finally, when installing these/any speakers into your door panels, take the time to add a sound deadening material to the metal surrounding the speaker. It is time well spent. Hope that helps. [ Richard Mar 18, 2017 ]
I wouldn't try to run these without an amplifier but I have replaced these three times because a certain frequency from my Bluetooth cell phone blows the tweeter. They are very expensive and I went with another brand for half the price and sound just as good . [ David Mar 17, 2017 ]
You don't need an amp ..But for the best optimal sound get a 2 channel amp [ JAMIE Mar 17, 2017 ]
You only need an amp when you need more wattage. Which is always. I recommend an amp period. [ S Mar 17, 2017 ]

Yes. I bought the baffles when I ordered the speakers. Much better than my previous setup. [ Finolicious Mar 27, 2016 ]
Not really depends on how much base you want.. But it does not handle a lot! [ BRENDA L Mar 26, 2016 ]
I did add speaker baffles to mine and it did improve the bass response. My first step was changing out all the speakers to these which was a big Improvement but it was obvious that the standard radio in my truck didn't have enough power. I added an amplifier and sound depth was much better. Depending on your vehicle though, you may want to invest in a subwoofer. I have a F-150 Super Crew and the difference after adding the sub was huge. I'm an old guy who listens to classic rock and when I listen to these I hear instruments in these song that I have never heard before... and I have been listening to this music along time. They are that good. Hope that helps. [ GARY G. Mar 25, 2016 ]

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/CompareTo.aspx?compareItems=01|091ISC570&compareItems=01|10868211CF&compareItems=01|091ISS570&g=51900 From the specs you can see that the Infinity's have a lower bass response, for a more defined and clean bass response. The infinity's also have a 2ohm impedance which will cause the amp to push a little harder to them. In most cases that will result in a louder/cleaner sound at just about any volume. These would be a very competitive set of speakers to the Focal's, and possibly even a better selection. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy Jun 04, 2014 ] Staff
