Overview

Our take on the Infinity BassLink

You crave high-performance bass, but you don't want to use all of your available cargo space to get it. The master designers at Infinity put the same state-of-the-art technology that distinguishes Infinity speakers into the BassLink amplified subwoofer, so although it takes up just one cubic foot of trunk space, it'll produce resounding bass in any vehicle.

The BassLink brings together a 10" subwoofer, a 10" passive radiator (to increase efficiency and limit distortion), and an extremely efficient, specially designed 200-watt Class D amplifier that work as an integrated system. Special circuitry monitors voice coil position to maintain linearity at high power levels, so you hear loud, clear bass.

An array of controls will enable you to tweak your bass until it has just the thump you want. For optimum system blending, the low-pass filter is variable between 50-120 Hz (12 dB per octave), and a phase switch (0- or 180-degrees) is included. Adjust low bass impact with the bass EQ feature (-6 dB to +3 dB at 40 Hz). And you'll be able to put BassLink in a variety of in-vehicle locations, thanks to brackets that enable the rigid polymer box to be mounted vertically or horizontally. A wired remote with 16-foot cable allows you to adjust your BassLink's volume from your dash.

Read a hands-on review of the BassLink in the Crutchfield Learning Center.

Infinity BassLink

Zachary from SC on 5/25/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My basslink kept making a thumping noise and stopped working about 13 months after i bought it. Every so often driving down the road it thumps multiple times and then kicks and works fine until I turn off the car. Spent months troubleshooting and reading forums and in every instance online it turned out to be a faulty amp. I had it professionally installed and they rechecked everything after I told them about the problem. Their conclusion was faulty amp and I hope it's still under warranty because I got a bunk amp.

Pros: Sounds great......when it works Looks good mounted in my jeep and is out of the way

Cons: DOESN'T WORK because I was sold a product with a faulty amp.

I purchased this new in 06,installed new in frontier to pathfinder to Colorado still works excellent no mercy on this sub all gains up no failures

Pros: Lasts up to times for me

Cons: Won't make your ears bleed

Mine still works

Anonymous from Wayne, NJ on 8/27/2016

Going on 5 years strong. Had it in my wife's mariner until we sold it and now it's wedged under the rear seat of my Silverado crew cab. Its held up great, still sounds good and adds that beat I was missing. Used rca and speaker line inputs but can't tell a difference in sound. Guess I was a lucky one but my money was well spent.

Pros: Tight bass that takes up little space

Cons: Still not my two 12's in a bandpass but what is.

Good Speaker, Transistor failure

Eloy from Savannah, GA on 8/4/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall great speaker but as previous persons have noted, it will stop working approximately a year after install. It is a TRANSISTOR problem. Easy to fix, replace the output transistor, the part no. P60NF06 Mosfet. Great sounding speaker.

Pros: Great Sound, Easy Install. Compact.

Cons: Transistor Failure

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

To put it simply, over the course of 15 months or so, I had three of these and they all died and had to be replaced. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, and well, I won't be buying any Infinity products again. My advice is to keep shopping.

Pros: Inexpensive with lots of output

Cons: Guaranteed to fail

Will work for awhile.....

JW from Atlantic Beach, FL on 5/25/2016

2000 BMW 3 Series

Worked for about six months. After that, it would only play intermittently even though the power LED was always lit. Also would "pop" from time to time, even when the power was off. Googled and discovered that this was a common problem with this item. Called Harman for a warranty exchange and was informed that it is being discontinued and was given a credit, which we put toward a sub to build our own system. Buy at your own risk

Pros: Sounds great when working

Cons: Will stop working at some point....hopefully while the warranty is still valid.

worked great.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This sub sounded great for awhile but after about a year it started popping and cutting out. Did some research and found out that this is highly common with this unit.

Pros: Compact and good punch for the price.

Cons: Doesn't last long.

Plenty of punch

Shane D. from Louisa Va on 4/3/2016

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This system has plenty of punch for the cost. If you're looking for quality bass without losing all your trunk storage this is your answer!!

Pros: Compact Inexpensive Easily moved to other vehicles Aestheticially pleasing

Cons:

Hurry!! Works for for a limited time only!!

Gary from key west, FL on 2/20/2016

Easy install, fits in small space, like a garbage can when it fails 3 months later. Save your reviews until the shiny wears off, a 5 star review the day you install it isn't a review at all. Mine sounded great until it died too. I also have used many Infinity speakers with stellar long term results. This product should not have an Infinity label on it. Unfortunately I bought mine through a different online retailer, so returns aren't as simple as it would have been had I purchased from Crutchfield. And Infinity support is Very disappointing. Mine is going straight to the dumpster.

Pros: Easy Install, fits in a small space, remote level control

Cons: Only lasted 90 days.

Big Bass Small Package

Reg from Okmulgee, OK on 2/17/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great product if you are looking for more bass but don't want to lose a lot of trunk space. I wanted more bass out of my Chrysler 300, but didn't want lose the spacious trunk space by installing a big box and amplifier system. The BassLink powered subwoofer installed easily in about an hour (my battery is in the trunk, so running the power cable to almost no time) and only takes up the space behind the wheel well. I now have amazing bass and can still use my trunk. The bass is not what you would get if you did a true system with subs in boxes and separate amplifiers, but it is a huge improvement over stock and exactly what I wanted.

Pros: Great Bass, small package, easy installation

Cons: Cant think of any at this time

Perfect addition to a factory stereo

John from lakeville, MN on 2/15/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I added this to my Infinity factory stereo. It seems to be the perfect amount of bass so that the rest of the speakers aren't drowned out by too much bass.

Pros: Plenty of power and bass for an addition to a factory stereo. Absolutely perfect for a hatchback install.

Cons: The bass doesn't come through too great when it's installed in a trunk of a mid-to-large size sedan. I'm not sure it would fill up a full-size SUV either.

Pros: pretty easy to install, once i figured how to connect to my factory amp.

Cons: none for me

Poor quality

Idarraga from Wisconsin on 1/18/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have purchased Infinity speakers for several cars I have owned over the past decade and have always been pleased with the brand but this subwoofer has been a great disappointment. It stopped working after a little over 3 months for no reason at all. I am not one to crank the bass. I just wanted some presence at the bottom end. About 2 weeks ago it started buzzing and popping in a very annoying and startling fashion. Today it gave up the ghost. Because I don't plan on replacing it or filing a warranty claim I opened it up and found several resistors and at least one capacitor had failed - burn marks and smell on the circuit board. In my book it's inexcusable. I will still consider Infinty speakers in the future but not this product. I should have known better than to get an all in one package. A separate amp and enclosure can actually be had for about the same amount of money.

Pros: Sounded good while it worked

Cons: Shoddy construction makes it unreliable

Dissatisfied Owner from United States on 12/16/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wanted a simple compact powered sub for low end fill in my wife's mustang. From the get-go this sub had muddy, cheap sounding lows. We can't turn it up without it sounding like a blown factory door speaker(even adjusting filters and running the signal through a equalizer). Now at 14 months old the unit no longer works.... right out of warranty. Shame on you Infinity. I was a loyal customer but I will try another brand next time for my speaker/audio needs. Do not buy it.

Pros: Compact

Cons: It's a cheaply built, crummy sounding piece of junk.

Basslink

Anonymous from California on 11/17/2015

The basslink WAS a great powered sub. It sounded tight and clean at all volumes in my e30 bmw. However, after about a year it started making piping sounds and working intermittently. I swapped it out with my friends working mono amp and sub and that confirmed it was the unit and not the wiring. I heard other similar reviews about the product and I guess this happens to some of the units after about a year of use. Prior to it malfunctioning, this was a great sub. Hopefully I can get it fixed and use it again.

Pros: Great sound, size, ease of installation.

Cons: Reliability.

Second Basslink! Great Bass Filler!

BL5BO from Maryland on 11/15/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Love Infinity's Basslink! This is my second one. First one i had was used in a Celica for about a year, then transferred to an RSX for 10 years. I then sold the car with the basslink. Since then, i have picked up a new weekend car, and commuter car (Corolla) and currently running my second Basslink. This little powered sub provides nice clean Bass, and takes no room at all! Been very happy with this

Pros: Great price, Great Sound, Compact, Design and build Quality!!

Cons: May not satisfy heavy Bass listeners

Happy then Sad

Subless from Virginia on 11/8/2015

I needed a unit that would fit in a small location and was an integrated unit, this seem to fit the bill. It sounded fine in a small pick up truck. Almost a year later it started making popping noises, a month late thats all it did make popping noises, Now I feel i'm Mary Poppins as I drive around. A spoon full of sugar isn't helping this medicine go down.

Pros: When it works it was fine

Cons: When it didn't last it wasn't fine

To good to be true

Slantedeyes from Cali on 8/21/2015

Just like the title says too good to be true is the basslink. I installed myself is a more than capable of reading instructions. Pretty easy wiring to say the least except for head and units that have for outputs for the line and the speakers. I had in Pioneer head unit. The basic sounded great for the first few months then everything went downhill. Now the thing doesn't work it has been a year., I had it in the back extended cab of my Toyota Tacoma upright. So I guess just do your research first maybe I'm just unlucky. Sounds great when it works. I kept being told to make sure it was grounded correctly., and I made sure more than once. I know how to ground I'm an electrician. So I just went the other way and got enclosed subwoofer and amplifier and couldn't be happier I guess it just gets too confusing when you get a powered sub too much with all the gadgets and what not to get in the way. Anyways good luck

Pros: Not too bad of sound, and small and compact

Cons: Didn't last long

Do not buy this product!

David T. from Georgetown, Ky. on 8/12/2015

I have had 3 of these subs.

Pros: I have had (3) of these subs (2 replaced under warranty). All three quit working! The first lasted just over a year, the second about 6 months, the last one about 4 months. Please research online problems with this product. When you do the research, you will not buy this sub. I'm very dissappointed in Infinity for building poor quality and in Crutchfield for continuing to offer a product known to have terrible reliability. You have been warned!

Cons: Terrible quality. Accessive adhesive causing electrical failures, MOSFETS burn out, among other issues.

RickB from Rising Sun, MD on 7/29/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

As other reviewers have said, this is a great little sub - as long as it works. I installed it with no difficulty in my Prius, and the sound was terrific for about 6 months. After that, it seemed to be dead as a doornail. The power light was still on, but I could not get any output at all. Crutchfield, however, was awesome and quickly shipped me a replacement. Popped in the new sub, and now I am back in business. At least temporarily.

Pros: Easy to install, good output, fused on the sub, autoturn on, and bass link control (although in reality I don't use this much).

Cons: Only lasted 6 months.

Infinity BassLink Awsome

KirkH from Michigan on 6/30/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking for a way to add more sound and bass to my factory stereo without cutting up the wire harness. A Crutchfield member recommended the Infinity BassLink. It was simple to install, and sound great. It adds just enough bass.

Pros: Sounds Great and easy to install.

Cons: I haven't found any cons.

Excellent sub for being one that I didn't build (grin).

PrecisionAudio from Minnesota on 6/21/2015

I bought one of these MANY years ago. As in when the first model came out. I didn't feel like building a car sub after I've built quite a few home subs (and other speakers too). I didn't expect much oomph out of it or accuracy of signal due to its design (its physics mimic how a marching band member's bass drum works, ya know? Servo controlled active cone with a drone cone on the opposite side. So I was thinking it could be a "one note wonder" and not musical at all to complement my Polk SR6500's, JL Audio amp for those, and a nice Pioneer deck. Again, I bought most of these items YEARS ago. BUT, everything still sounds awesome. There is one kickdrum note in particular song that often makes me look in the rearview mirror to see if what I felt on my back while in the driver's seat was from someone slightly rear ending me! This model won't break any records and a homebrew one by myself could likely do even better but the price is right, the sound quality is really great (you need to find the best location and orientation for it, BTW), and you can wreck your hearing in 30 minutes with it according to my SPL meter and OSHA. I have it inside my 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee, trunk area (of course), with it standing "upright" on the passenger side, its drone cone right up against the slightly sloping rear seat's back (so that is pretty much muffled) and the active cone firing directly towards the rear hatch. The rear trunk space, which has no "top" acts like a large enclosure for it!

Pros: The Matrix sndtrack has a ton of drums & bass drums. You WILL be impressed. I have freq gen tracks & it won't get down to 20Hz but 30 with no problem. The Jeep is very airtight even after all these years so just cracking open the rear passenger window say 1-2" further enhances how low this smaller sub can go. And it really isn't audible to those outside...just mammoth sound inside (great Jeep insulation). Remember, if you are going to use-up your hearing, do it with quality equipment & music!!

Cons: After years of super hot summers and super cold winters, a crack in its thick plastic enclosure/case has appeared but structurally and sonically, the crack is irrelevant. The "total system" with the Polks and one Basslink can demand 500 watts total RMS (150x150 for the Polks and 200 for the Infinity sub) so geting a cap would be nice to your generator. From years of not using a cap (headlights didn't dim to the beat at all), my alt died so I upgraded to a 135Watter & cap.

Added thump without the expensive price

I absolutely loved this sub when I first bought it. The bass was strong enough to shake my rear view mirror but not so much as to cause rattling in my Civic Coupe. I had no complaints until it suddenly stopped working about a week ago.

Pros: Great bass for size

Cons: Lasted only 5 Months!

Nice quality sound

Sandman from Lake charles, LA on 4/29/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This bass link is clean. Construction Is sturdy. The connections are easy to get to. The sound quality is very nice. I hooked this sub up in the trunk of my mustang convertible. I was just looking to add a little bump to the stock system but I got way more than I expected. This 10 inch sub won't rattle your neighbors windows but it will rattle yours. I like that it is very adjustable to The sound you want.

Pros: Easy hook up clean look Quality sound nice deep and punchy bass

Cons: A little bulky, but what sub isnt.

Infinity Basslink FTW

Angel from Key West, FL on 4/28/2015

I probably have one of the oldest models of this sub and it's still working. Bought my Basslink towards the end of 05, yes that's right the year 2005. Since then this sub has been installed into three different vehicles that I've owned. A 00 Toyota Celica, 04 Toyota Tacoma and my current 2009 Toyota Tacoma. This isn't your breaking windows sub but it does well in adding some much needed bass and works great when paired with a decent head unit. It's easy to set up and tune with the knobs located on the sub. I've only recently replaced it due to the fact that I've had to sacrifice a seat in my truck for its placement. Had that not been an issue it would still be there booming along.

Pros: Easy setup and great for anyone not trying to figure out sub/amp combinations. Has enough bass to fill out your gaps in the low end.

Cons: honeslty can't think of any cons. I've have zero issues with this sub in the 10 years I've owned it.

Pros: Easy to mount.. Sounds grear

Cons: Some people have bad ones

Fisticuffs from Anchorage, AK on 3/2/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this for my truck hoping to keep things simple. When it was working it was awesome. The unit wasn't firing off earth shattering bass but perfect inside the vehicle cab. After about 6 months it developed a loud pop/thump which sounds a lot like the vehicle hitting something. Very shocking the first time it happens! The popping and cut outs continued until it stopped working altogether. All connections are good but the unit failed to function even though it had power. Impossible to get repaired anywhere. The only real option in terms of revival is you go it alone and hope you can fix what the factory messed up. The odds are against you since obviously it wasn't designed to last for very long. Avoid this and get something else.

Pros: Very compact for a full 10" sub/amp combo. Excellent bass when centralized in the vehicle.

Cons: Laughably unreliable.

Gives out a great sound and the right amout of power for any size car. With the remote control feature you can easily adjust the volume of the bass for each song for during the song to make it easier to here people talk.

Pros: Get sound, easy install, good price when on sale

Cons:

Compact, powerful, precise, adjustable.

Ponyjockey from Boston, MA on 12/29/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Awesome sound, easy install.

Pros: This device has excellent sound quality and is highly customizable and tunable. Installation is relatively easy because of the built-in amp. Relatively small size for a sub, so it was easy to tuck into a recess in my trunk.

Cons: If you tuck it too deep into the space, the two mounting screws on the far side of the unit are impossible to get to. I suggest marking the holes on a template, drilling all 4 holes and then installing one pair of brackets first, then clipping the unit with the second set of brackets attached into the first set and screwing down the second set of mounting screws. Now I play my stereo much louder than I used to. I can't help myself. My wife knows how long I sit in the driveway listening to tunes.

Running it at half power on most days, I don't feel I overloaded it's capabilities. I'm currently waiting on Infinity to honor their Warranty policy, so hopefully I got a lemon. But based on a general online search of this product, it seems common. I can't give it a better rating, but do have some quality details to include in case you find a Basslink that lasts. I drive a '01 Honda Civic LX and replaced all factory items with upgrades thanks to Crutchfield (who's customer service has never let me down, nor is poorly reflected due to Infinity's product). The Basslink when added to a Kenwood Excelon KDC X395 head unit and Kicker speakers (Kicker 40CS54 5 1/4" and Kicker 40CS654 6 1/2") sounded AWESOME in my car. I typically listen to rock, hip hop, alternative, club or dubstep on any given day. The sub added the much needed low tones and thump I was looking for to complement the Kicker's clarity on high tones. I rarely increased the attenuator past half way since I got sufficient boom in my small space. The unit fits great in the Civc's trunk while leaving plenty of space for luggage and golf clubs. Unfortunately the unit started randomly popping and shutting off at 5 months even though all connections and adjustments were solid. It recently just stopped producing even though power is still good and connections secure.

Pros: Easy to install Small footprint for space saving in a limited sized trunk Adjustable attenuator for easy control of bass Big boom and deep tones for a small unit.

Cons: My unit died after 8 months with reasonable usage (not overloading the unit's capabilities)

Added a new radio and speakers to Chevy Equinox. Needed something easy to install to add more bass. This was the perfect addition. The Infinity BassLink provides the perfect amount of bass needed to feel the music.

Pros: Easy to install. Sounds great. Can feel the bass!

The Infinity BassLink combo is where it's at no doubt. It's not to loud and it's not to quiet. Plus it's small enough where u still get to keep your trunk especially with the built in amp. Perfect for a hatchback or sedan. Definitely worth your Benjamin's!

Pros: Built in crossover that has a 50 to 120Hz sweep Freq response 20 to 120Hz Easy to install and easy to tune Great for a first system

Cons: Haven't had any problems yet..

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this sub for a Tacoma extended cab and it was easy to install, good fit for the space behind the seats and good tight bass with excellent controls to fine tune. Problem is that after 18 months it shorted out. Almost every review site has a few people mentioning that these units don't last but I figured they may not have installed it correctly or had some other problem in their system, and the odds were low that I would have that problem...well, should've taken heed. But if that's not bad enough trying to get help from Infinity's outsourced customer service, well, exactly what you'd expect from outsourced customer service. Absolutely no help. And no one services these because replacement parts are not available but they will charge you a diagnostic fee to tell you what you already know. So the point is, don't buy this unit.

Pros: Ease of installation Tight bass notes Plenty of power for a small space Excellent controls

Cons: Lasts just long enough for the warranty to expire Terrible customer service from Infinity

Dependable and gorgeous sound...

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Going on three years of service for my Basslink and I have to say that it is magnificent! I was scared to death by all of the bad reviews, but one of my students told me that he had installed his third unit in his newest car. He had let two other units go when he sold the other cars. I was impressed with the sound and workmanship and ordered a Basslink for myself. I have to believe that many of the failed units in the bad reviews may have been overdriven. Placement of this unit is critical. I'm planning on using the horizontal mounts and seeing if that makes a difference and if it will avoid the standing waves I sometimes get at higher volume levels trying to cover road noise. Warm, rich and powerful sound inside your vehicle...what more can you ask?

Pros: Blends beautifully with my HD head unit. Using 4-way Pioneer speakers in the tailgate, factory speakers in the dash. Made the original flat sound come completely alive. Prefer driving this car because of the rich sound the Basslink provides.

Cons: Not for annoying other drivers or homeowners with pounding, throbbing sound while on the road.

Awesome addition to a factory system!

Rob from Easton, PA on 8/1/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed some new door speakers that were underpowered due to keeping the factory head unit. This caused an extreme lack of bass in the car. I called Crutchfield and asked how could get the bass back in my sonata and they recommended the Infinity Basslink sub. I was skeptical at first because the reviews said that it died a few months in. I took the plunge anyway and I'm glad I did! This thing hits really hard and really gave my car the bass it needs. I performed the install my self. I bought an amp install kit and that gave me the power, remote and gound wires needed to go with the basslink. I mounted the basslink in the trunk and ran the power wire down the driver side of the car. The remotes and speaker level inputs ran down the passenger side of the car to avoid noise issues. Since I was using the speaker level inputs on the factory radio I had to use a bunch of scotch locks to secure the wires to the back of the head unit. I also installed the gain controller hidden in the dash storage area, which came out fantastic for tuning on the fly. All in all the look is completely factory looking and took about six hours to complete. I followed the setup instructions to set all the levels. Once the basslink had a few hours on it it really came alive. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for outstanding lows from any system. Thanks Crutchfield you guys rock!!

Pros: Easy to install. Compact to fit anywhere. Incredible bass for such a small system.

Cons: Should come with an install kit.

Really great sounding sub with enough power for my saab 9-3. However, it only lasted 2 months past it's 1 year warranty before it started having problems. Two more months later and it was dead. This is a common problem with these units and I wish I had done more extensive research earlier.

Pros: Clean deep bass

Cons: Have to replace in just over a year

Bought this sub 3 months ago and wanted to really give it a try before i rated it. Even the guys that installed it said this is a waste. After they got it all hooked up they were shocked as to how well the sub preformed. So 3 months later its doing great. the perfect addition to hide under the back seat of my silverado crew cab. You do have to take the back set of legs off to get it to fit under the seat but after that its perfect. Great sub.

BrandonB from Charlottesville, VA on 5/29/2014

This was purchased at the Crutchfield Store in Charlottesville. The bass is good. Not too much, not too little. Perfect for a guy approaching 40 who doesn't want to annoy his neighbors and is interested in parts of the music that are above 125hz. The bass is punchy and accurate, although it struggles a bit to accurately reproduce the super low tones in some rap songs. Installation was a breeze, and the unit left plenty of room in my trunk. I have read the many reviews both here and other places which complain of poor reliability. I chose to purchase a square trade warranty from Crutchfield which extends the warranty out to three years. Seems worth it under the circumstances. I had to ask about extended warranties, as they were not offered without prompting. I wouldn't have purchased it without the extended warranty due to the likelihood of failure.

Pros: Sounds great and wont be heard 50 yards away

Cons: Chance of failure

I was hesitant to purchase this unit, I was between an MTX or the basslink, I have had both brands in the past, however i love infity. Im a bit scared about the lifetime of the unit, after reading the reviews,, i took my chances,,,, im very happy with the unit so far, its perfect for my 300zx, since i dont have much cargo space on the trunk. This was the way to go without sacrificing space. I love it!

Pros: great size, awesome bass, easy hook up and comes with brackets to bolt it down!! very nice sound.

Cons: none so far.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am an over the road trucker and my wife bought the Bass Link for my Christmas. I spend 10 to 14 days at a time in my truck so good music is important to me. My Freightliner Century is equipped with 4 5 1/4 inch coaxial speakers so bass was lacking to say the least. I installed the Bass Link under my bunk and wired it to my JVC head unit using the subwoofer crossover in the head unit. Result: Solid tight bass! This unit isn't going to rattle the neighbors windows but if your looking for good bass response that isn't muddy or garbled this is the easy answer. The built in amplifier driving a 10 inch driver and 10 inch passive radiator provide all you will need. The wired remote level adjustment is mounted right next to the stereo and rarely sees settings above 50%. Great bang for your buck and super easy to install. A great addition to my system.

Pros: Easy to install and setup. Great sound. And it doesn't need a power cable the size of your thumb!

Cons: None that I can find!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

All-in-one box of low-toned fun and excitement! The installation was a snap! (Though I recommend good connections all around. The JL audio Master Ground Lug is a great addition to purchasing this sub) I chose this sub for use with speaker level inputs. I expected noises, hums, etc. I don't have a single bit of noise outside of the frequencies this sub reproduces. Its in an extended cab truck and the sound is just right. It has a surprising low frequency response, and doesn't disappoint. The term precision comes to mind now that I am writing this. With that said, if you are looking to round out your stock system or you are limited on funds and space: buy it! Accompany it with new speakers and your factory deck will surprise you! Let me put it to you like this: The first song that came on the radio after the install and during the "tinkering" phase was "Toto - Africa" Needless to say, it made me grin like a little kid. Keep in mind this isn't going to win you an SPL Drag. This sub is built for quality sound on a budget. Quality sound belongs "in" your car not in everyone else's car within a block radius of your vehicle.

Pros: Easy Installation Great sound (Not overbearing) Just the right amount of features for tuning to your taste

Cons: I'm waiting to see if this thing croaks like some people have said theirs did. Until that happens, I see no Cons.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Like others, this unit lasted 9 months before it died on me. I'd like to tell you about all the things it did right and how it sounded, but a product failing so quick is not acceptable. Keeping in mind that I normally kept this unit powered off, this bugs me that it didn't last very long. I wonder if Infinity really makes this product because every other Infinity product I've owned lasted longer than the car I put them in.

Pros: The fact that I purchased from Crutchfield and they have the best policies to cover equipment which fails.

Cons: Lasted 9 months

As with most reviews I found this sub to an impressive compact sub-woofer. It's fit and finish is impeccable and it comes with multiple mounts for horizontal or vertical mounting. I especially like the remote bass knob which I custom installed behind one of the blank option panels on my new Toyota. I have heard mixed reviews about this sub-woofer's longevity, so I'll keep my fingers crossed that this baby will last a while.

Pros: Small, convenient, remote bass knob

I picked this up a few weeks ago to add some sound to my SUV. I wanted some decent bass but didn't want to sacrifice the space in the rear of the vehicle as the third row seating was a priority. Excellent sound for such a compact unit on a 2014 Mustang base

DanielB from Atlanta, GA on 3/23/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this unit on my 2014 Mustang base 4-speaker sound system. The amount of bass that this little unit puts out is amazing! It actually is a little bit more than what I was looking for. I picked it up while marked down and got an additional discount for buying an open-box unit. That extra savings was applied to purchasing the extended warranty (3 years); just a little piece of mind since I read several reviews complaining about service life of the built-in amplifier. It comes with a 1-year Mfg. warranty. My only complaint is the "Infinity" logo on the grill should be removable so that it can be mounted upside down on its side (saves wire length) and this also makes the writing on the controls upside-down; a minor annoyance more than anything. Finding a flat, solid surface to mount it to is also an issue, but that would be the case with any box you add to your trunk. If you're looking to add significant bass to your system without shaking out your fillings, and save your trunk space for more important things, this little box should do nicely. I installed mine standing up(side-down) on the passenger side recess of the trunk. Note: I will edit this review to reflect any warranty related issues if they come up in the future

Pros: Great power Small foot print Easy setup/integration Best bang for the buck

Cons: Mounting it may end up putting the controls upside-down, depending on which direction you want the wires to come from. I was cheap and didn't want to buy extra power cable to mount it with rear facing controls. Only an annoyance when setting it up and if your're OCD, like me.

Installed in a Jeep TJ. Super simple install, very comprehensive install kit included. This unit produces sound FAR exceeding my expectations. I've owned plenty of subwoofers made by countless brands. For the money, this may just be the best piece of equipment I've purchased. It will not rattle your doors off, but it will let you know that its there. Very enjoyable, from purchase to listening. Strongly recommended, especially for vehicles with smaller volume.

Pros: Affordable, good install kit and instructions, sounds far better than it should.

Cons: The unit gets a little whiny on the mid level bass...especially while listening to reggae, ska, etc... Effective tuning can improve it a bit.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this product because I wanted better low end bass to compliment the sound system in my 2000 ford f150 and wow did I get more than I was expecting. The basslink produces good strong sound without even breaking a sweat. I usually keep the remote level at or below twenty-five percent because any higher and it becomes too much for my vehicle. The price was a major selling point for this product. it in my opinion beats out the kicker powered sub I was contemplating that retails for twice as much. If you want a great amount of bass that doesn't take up your whole cargo area and does not empty your wallet the basslink will do it for you.

Pros: Very good build quality, low price, very strong low end bass, extremely easy to install.

Cons: Sound can be slightly boomy on some recordings.

There is something in this unit that is just not stable for very long; especially when the warranty expires. I liked it so much when it did operate, so I just spent the money to fix it. The technicians stated that it should be more stable now; never told me what they did because the tech wasn't around when I picked up the unit. Since the repair I have had no problems.

Cons: Why didn't Infinity fix the stability problem before units left the factory

Added this to my 2000 Jetta Monsoon sound and made a big difference. As there is no power switch in the back and I hate to drain my car battery, I paired it with a MTX re-Q Bass Restoration. The MTX has a 12volt switchable connection when it detects audio coming in. It powers on the Basslink only when there is audio, very convenient. With the Basslink, I can feel the bass in my chest instead of my head. This is a characteristic of low frequency bass and is not tiring. The reason it can reproduce lower-end bass is the size of the woofer. You cannot get that kind of bass from smaller speakers - (Bose is an exception).

Pros: Low frequency bass, shakes the car.

Cons: Should have included an auto-switch on/off.

This is my first experience w/ a subwoofer in my car. I've had this BassLink in my Honda Accord sedan for over a week now and am happy with it. For about a year prior, I was listening to a JVC deck w/ 2 speakers in the front doors and 2 -6X9s in the rear. Having the tone/bass controls at as flat setting as I could set it gave hardly any bass. The highs and mid-range were fine, but it did not sound full and natural. Something was missing. It was the Inf. BassLInk, the missing link of the system. The Inf. is in the trunk area, and set at about 1/4 of the way up, gives me a nice, tight, natural bass sound. I don't like boomy or loud music, and am glad I chose this product. I had a professional install it since I am not handy w/ car installation.

Pros: nice, tight, natural bass for a full sound

Cons: can't think of any

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Have had lots of subs in my 19 years of car ownership. From a pair of 8's to six 12's in a camaro hatchback. Latest car is a family friendly Elantra GT Hatchback. Wanted a small sub that would round out the good factory system. Found this here on sale and free shipping so grabbed it. The features sounded interesting, specs looked good (200W rms, 10" driver and 10" passive) and was nice and small. The servo monitored driver sounded very interesting on paper and the remote level dial is a big plus. Arrived in 2 days. I spent a full day installing it, taking my time and doing a nice clean install. Used the speaker level inputs and the 'auto on' feature, along with a 10ga power feed from battery and a 10ga ground run to the chassis. Mounted in the left rear corner of the hatch, barely takes up any space. Tried multiple locations before deciding on a spot, the position of the sub in the car makes a big difference in the output level, I have it fairly well corner loaded tucked all the way back and about 6" off the side of the cargo area, speaker / radiator facing sideways. Is much louder than I expected from a prefab 10" self powered sub. Super smooth, loud, deep bass. Very very clear, and it is difficult to make it distort, I guess due to the servo monitoring of the voice coil. Super clean super deep bass. Obviously not as loud as a pair of 10's or 12's in a typical box with a bigger amp, but everything I throw at out sounds great. HIGHLY recommend!

Pros: Cost was great for a complete subwoofer and amp setup. Looooooooong speaker level hook up wires included. Remote bass level knob included. Infinity quality and looks. Easy install. Small so even in my small hatchback I still have use of most of my cargo area. Has adjustment for crossover point, bass boost / cut at 40hz, and gain, as well as the additional remote level control knob for the dash.

Cons: Honestly, cant really think of any, this worked out perfectly for me and was more than I expected to get as far as sound level and sound quality.

I installed this in my car and have it perfectly equalized. I absolutely love the sounds that it produces and I am very happy with the product.

Pros: Hits the lows

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This subwoofer is fantastic. It's small, self-contained, and powerful for it's size. If you want to rattle the neighbor's dishes, this isn't your sub. But if you're looking to round out your musica experience, it's perfect. Having the sub & amp in one unit means no muss, no fuss mounting and wiring it. It's a tad bigger than I expected, but provides more than enough bass in my Ford Ranger supercab. It comes with speaker wiring for pretty much any installation, but you'll need to supply your own power wiring.

Pros: All-in-one unit, means you only need to mount one device, not two. It has controls right on the unit to fine tune it to your liking, as well as the wired remote to make it a quick & easy task to raise & lower it's power level. It has multiple input options to fit your configuration, and comes with very easy to understand instructions, so even a novice can hook it up correctly without worry. It has attachable mounting "feet", allowing you to mount it either laying flat or standing up.

Cons: The only thing I don't like about it is actually a trivial thing. I wish it had an on/off button. It would be nice to be able to sit and listen to the radio with the engine off, and not worry about the battery drain. It has a "auto on defeat" switch, but that doesn't keep it from turning on. My stereo even has a setting to disable the auto on, but that also does nothing. I docked a star for this, I wish I could dock only 1/2 star though, and give it a 4.5 rating.

Great sub

Andrew from Shreveport, LA on 11/19/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I chose the Infinity Basslink subwoofer because it had an auto-turn on feature that would power up when I turned on my radio and did not need an extra switch. It could also be hooked up to my rear speaker leads and I did not have to go the RCA route. The ANC in my 2013 Honda Accord was interfering with the sound on start-up but the Crutchfield team was able to guide me through that problem and now my subwoofer sounds great with my 4 new Sony 3-way speakers. I had never installed a sub before and with the help of the Crutchfield techs I have to say that it was not difficult at all.

Great product

Steve in VA from Fredericksburg, VA on 10/1/2013

Awesome product, I bought this unit in the clear shell when it was offered 12 years ago. Sounded great in my 85 Buick, then again in my 01 Taurus and yet again in my 06 WRX Wagon. Hook up was easy and straight forward, mounting was a little troublesome as I didn't want to drill holes through my car to properly mount it. I used super double sided Velcro to keep it in place. It worked great when I first bought it, we moved it sat for 5 years in a shed through Michigan winters, picked it up and plugged it in and it still hits like new. Definatly better in a wagon or open back vehicle but still sounded better than stock in the trunk of cars. As for people having them "blow" out within a week or two, Items need to "break in" for a couple weeks at a minimum. 1/8 power for two weeks, then 1/4, then 1/2. Proper break in will ensure good performance. After 12 years I still haven't needed to go above 3/4 on the settings of the unit. If you need more than that, you may want to look at something different. If you want more then stock has to offer but want to use your rear view still, then this is a great choice.

Pros: Space, sound quality, ease of use and price. CLEAR SHELL!!

Cons: Mounting is a little funny but not too bad.

Amazing bass

HappyPeopleArePrettyNeat from Charlotte, NC on 9/21/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This Infinity BassLink subwoofer sounds tremendous. I hear notes that I never heard before, or at best, were sort of muddy hints of bass, or made my 6x9s rattle. I spent some time adjusting this subwoofer and found that the bass sounded best with the Bass Boost turned down quite a bit - before that it sounded too "thumpy". Now it is perfect. Find a song with some really low sustained bass notes (like a down tuned bass) to hear what this subwoofer can do. My car came with a connector for an optional amplifier which I did not have, so I wired up an adapter between that connector and this subwoofer. One reason I bought this subwoofer was that it has four line level inputs, front/rear and left/right, and my amplifier connector had all four of those. It also had a connection for remote turn on, so I was able to use that feature of this subwoofer as well.

Pros: Great bass, much better than 6x9s.

Cons: Somewhat large, could be a little difficult to find a place to put it.

Superb sound in a small space!

Jason from Va on 9/13/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This item produces great sound and presence while saving precious space. This is what you're looking for when you need bass without a trunk or large area in which to work. The built in crossover feature, as well as the separate mountable knob allow you to fine tune the sound to your taste. I installed my BassLink in an automatic 1997 Ford F150 Lariat Extended, in the front center floor area (no gear shift to get in the way). I matched it up with two pairs of Infinity Kappa 6x8/5x7's in the front doors and rear sides connected to the factory amp and the sound is absolutely remarkable. I mounted the knob in a small recess under the steering wheel for quick, easy access and a professional look. Note: I elected to install a line out converter so I could use RCA cables to connect the BassLink to the factory system. Also, if you are installing on a factory head unit, you may need to connect the blue remote wire to the vehicle's accessory wire to generate the voltage necessary to send a signal to the sub - at least that was my experience with my particular vehicle. The F150 only generated a little more than 4 volts while the recommended range for the BassLink is between 5-12.

Pros: Quality enclosure produces a great sound, the unit runs very cool, the bass hits hard, installation instructions are very clear, great value

Cons: Time will tell...

Great Sub in a Small Footprint

Great powered sub in a small footprint. I had this installed in a 2005 Yukon. The install was straight forwarded clean. If you want a sub that will rattle the windows in the next block then this one is not for you.

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: None yet.

Wow. Very Surprised!

JohnnyS from Michigan on 9/8/2013

Didn't expect this type of sound out of this odd shaped sub. Puts enough rumble under your seat and for the type of music I listen to, what a punch. Tight reproduction and handles most lows. For a good all around amplified sub that handles most genres, you can't go wrong here. My setup consists of 4 Polk DB571's in the doors, 2 DB1001 tweeters powered by the Alpine MRP-F300 with the BassLink rounding it out. What a hit. If you're on a moderate budget, it's worth the spend. I am very pleased.

Pros: Nice bass response.

Cons: None

Amazing bass from such a small footprint. As everyone before me has stated, the basslink won't shake the Windows in the neighbor's house, but it will shake the rearview mirror in your car. Best bass bang for the buck. I listen to a lot of underground house music, Latin and bass heavy music, & this does all I could ever ask of it & more. No brained for nice solid bass at a great price without eating up all your trunk space.

Pros: small size & nice bass + remote sub level control.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I really like this thing! It has a lot of bass if you want it to or it can have the perfect amount of bass. Installation was easy and it came with "universal connect" wires. I didn't use them I used RCA but they aren't included. It doesn't come with a remote wire and You have to separately buy a power wire which is fine. I got an 8 gauge. You don't need a super huge wire cuz it's only 200 watts its not 1000. It also came with the remote gain which is super nice, you can mount it close to your knees on the dash and adjust it whenever. I listen to mostly metal and some rock and electronic and even country but no rap. It sounds great with everything... Some songs require more bass so you just crank up the remote and you're good. It came with "feet" to mount it vertically or horizontal. I chose to lay it flat cuz it made more seance to me. The feet all have screw holes in them to screw it to the trunk floor of my 94 prizm. It has the actual woofer on one side and on the direct other side is the passive radiator I guess. If you lay it down, the feet do keep it up off the ground so air can move around it. It works great and I'm super happy. Got it the day after I ordered it and crutch field customer service is awesome as always. Ask them any question you have on this, they'll know.

Great little Sub

Andrew from Williamsburg, VA on 8/2/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've been looking to add just a little bass to my 2005 Honda Accord for sometime and have looked at numerous systems. I didn't want a complicated installation or my trunk filled with subs and amps so when I came across this I thought it would be perfect. It's a great little sub. I originally had it installed in my trunk and it sounded good but didn't sound great. Too much metal rattle. Since it's somewhat compact, I moved it to behind the drivers seat and now it sounds amazing. It gives me the bass I've been missing. I've had it almost nine months and it still going strong. I plan on ordering another one to place behind the passenger seat to add just a little more thump.

Pros: No complicated set up. Includes bass control so depending on the song a twist of a know can add or remove bass. Doesn't take up a lot of space.

Cons: There are none if you are looking to add some bass without rattling windows three blocks away. If you want that then stay don't buy this.

Thanks for the advice. Perfect for my application.

I love the infinity basslink. I purchased an out of box one and it had problems. Notified Crutchfield and they immediated ly sent me out a brand new. Once hooked up I get the bass that I have wanted. This is added to a 2011 factory Sonata system and it greatly enhances my listening pleasure with the bass that gives the Sonata system the bottom that it greatly needed. Pros: Very deep rich bass without adding an expensive full total system

Clear, Thumping Power

PatrickM from Plano, TX on 6/30/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I used the RCA inputs in my installation. Make sure your head unit volume can be cranked up enough to drive the BassLink's RCA inputs. For me, this meant trimming down the gain on the outboard amplifier I was using (Alpine Power Pack) with my head unit (Kenwood KDC-X997), which allowed me to crank the head unit sufficiently. I cranked the gain at the sub to three-quarters and started thumping. Before that, I got nothing out of the BassLink because the outboard amp was already giving a screamng volume level with the head unit cranked to one-third max. This unit provides clean, listenable thump you can feel, even with the Bass Boost on the sub set to minimum and the head settings flat.

Pros: Straightforward installation, flexible mounting options, straightforward and easy-to-adjust controls

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I Read several of the reviews from my fellow consumers and some of the Crutchfield staff. I have used this sub now for about two weeks. I was that guy who had to have big bass in my trunk no matter what I was driving. I usually always had a dual 10" or 12" sealed box in my trunk with substantial power to push them. The problem with that set up now is that I'm 31, married, and have 2 girls under 3 years of age. So cargo space is now important and having deafening bass is no longer relevant. So I chose this sub for the small footprint in the trunk. It fit perfectly between the wheel well and the trunk opening in my 09' Malibu LT. It was easy to install and has several installation applications for versatility. I was actually surprised with the amount of sound that came from this little package! The auto turn on feature is really nice as well. Now if your one of those bass heads then this sub is not for you but if you want balanced sound while maintaining your trunk space then look no further.

Pros: Easy to install, Small footprint, easy to tune (if you follow the directions given), Auto turn on function, built in amp, several installation applications, great balanced bass response.

Cons: Will not win any bass competitions.

I purchased this subwoofer when I had my 2000 F250 in 2002. I still have the subwoofer and it has been in a Toyota Tundra and now resides in my '09 Scion XB. I have never had a problem with it and I can still rattle the windows with it. Easy to set up and sounds outstanding. I would definitley recommend this to any one with a fair amount of installation room. It can be installed standing on end or lying flat and works great either way. It has occasionally been utilized as a foot rest and its been droped once or twice when pulling it out of or installing in another vehicle and it keeps on going. The grill on the active woofer side is pressed in but it doesn't affect the sound.

Pros: Easy installation. Great sound. Very durable.

Cons: Can be bulky for those that don't have a lot of room. In my 2000 F250 it was in the rear and was used occasionaly as a foot rest by the kids. In the 2007 Tundra Crewmax, I removed the rear split bench seat to install it. (kids were grown up and married and I didn't need the extra seating.) Wahoo!

Manual clearly states that sub may be on for few mins after car engine is turned off. During this few minutes the sub makes an annoying humming sound. This is extremely annoying and loud. happy bumper from frederick, md on 4/20/2013

i was looking for more bass with my after market speakers but wasnt looking to spend a ton of money. I began looking at this and a couple other units. i decided on this unit because of its size, the positive reviews, the price and because i knew infinity produces high quality products. now i wasnt looking to blow anything or anyone out of the water, it was more for personal enjoyment, but the sound this sub produces is perfect in my coupe and for that little extra punch the control knob is a great feature. for the price of the unit and the sound it produces i couldnt be happier. if youre not looking to disturb the peace, and just want that extra bass for your enjoyment, i highly recommend this unit.

Pros: easy install, basically plug and play after wires are ran (of course if you know what youre doing), fantastic sound (crisp, clear punches), remote knob is awesome when you feel like bumping a little harder

Cons: nothing I can think of

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced the front and rear stock speakers in my 2010 Accord with Polk DXI's which sounded great but i did not really have any bass. The stock 8" subwoofer does not do much at all. I wanted some bass to round out my system. I was not looking for mirror shaking or trunk rattling. I wanted some nice bass to compliment my system that I could feel. The basslink was recommended to me. I was hesitant but read several reviews and thought i'd give it a try. The basslink is exactly what i was looking for. It is perfect. It delivers the right amount of bass that I can feel. I highly recommend it.

Pros: Small package, takes up minimal trunk space, easy to install, good sounding bass

Cons: None that i have noticed

Infinity Basslink- Chevy Prizm

Anonymous from Milwaukee, WI on 4/16/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I own a 2001 Chevy Prizm. I replaced the stereo with a Pioneer unit that I bought off of Crutchfield. I also replaced the four factory speakers with four 6 1/2 in. Pioneer speakers. Once I installed those speakers I was not satisfied by the bass that they produced. So I started looking for subwoofers. I decided that I wanted a powered sub because it was in my price range and would be easier to install than an amp and a sub. I looked at the Sound Ordnance B-8PT, Infinity BassLink and JBL GT-BassPro12. The more I researched the three of those the more I liked the Basslink. I wanted more bass than what the Sound Ordnance B-8PT offered but smaller than the JBL GT-BassPro12. So I focused on the Basslink. I read that many people said that it hit hard but some said that they did not notice a difference. Last week I decided to purchase the Infinity Basslink. I received it within 2 days which was very nice. I installed the Basslink in 2-3 hours with the help of watching videos prior to the installation. The installation went very smoothly. Now for the bass output. I am very satisfied with the output of the Infinity Basslink. I noticed that it did not hit as hard when I was just listening to the radio. But once I plugged in my iPod the Basslink was bumping. I mostly listen to my iPod so that is not a big problem for me. This is a must buy for those who want to improve the bass in their vehicle. It is reasonably priced and produces great bass for its size.

Pros: Easy to install Small Hits hard when listening to iPod

Cons: Not as much bass when listening to radio

Elegant, compact design. Good sound. Quick installation, since I was replacing an identical Infinity Basslink unit that had died. That in itself is not a great recommendation, but the old unit did last about 5 years.

Pros: Compact. Lots of placement options to get it out of the way. Reasonable price.

Cons: The last Basslink I bought lasted only about 5 years.

Flawless performance for over 8 years

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've been reading the reviews of this unit complaining of poor quality and issues with blown speakers after short periods of time. I bought my Basslink in October 2004 and it has been pumping out tight, distortion-free bass ever since. I have to think that people who bought this thinking it was going break their car windows and rattle the fillings out their teeth ended up with the aforementioned problems because they were pushing it too hard. Distortion destroys speakers. If you want bass that's in proportion the the rest of the music and you don't push this thing too hard, I doubt if you will have problems like short lifespan. I can't sing the praises of my Basslink loudly enough. This unit has been a real trouper for me for more than 8 years and still sounds like new. It was a fairly easy install in my '98 Subaru Forester. Maybe Infinity changed something since I bought mine (it was $70 more in 2004).

Pros: Clean, tight bass Easy of installation Longevity (for me anyway)

Cons: None (based on my personal experience)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put this in my Jeep Wrangler and it sounds amazing. Gave it the perfect amount of bass. Was very easy to install. When I take the top down I don't hear much bass..but I expected that. Anyway I would recommed this purchase to anyone. Don't go off the bad reviews...because hey everything has a bad review.

Pros: Easy to install. Will rattle the windows. No distortion.

Cons: I have no cons to say about this product.

Exactly what I wanted

Dan S. from Omaha, NE on 3/27/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My car, a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria, has 4 factory 6 x 8 speakers, which instantly means it has no bass. I mostly listen to rock and metal, so I was not looking for a ton of bass, just a little something to fill in the void down low that the 6x8's leave out. This did exactly that and even a little extra. I have it set perfectly to fill in the bass guitar and give me a good solid hit for the bass drum, and it's not even turned up all the way. With a little more work I could get it to sound pretty good for Dance/R&B etc if I so desired.

Pros: Easy to setup and install. Gives plenty of bass. Has good clean sound once you get it dialed in to your car and stereo.

Cons: None, but if you are looking to rattle your car apart and the fillings out of your skull, this is not for you.

Fantastic Sub!

Shrek from Florida on 3/22/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this unit as a value play, saving a few bucks, add a little base to my otherwise stock VW system. This unit is a fantastic performer and sounds OUTSTANDING. I am not a big base enthusiast, but this unit provides more than enough base for me. I set the three knobs in the middle(on the unit), and set the remote knob about 25%. The base added to the system is just outstanding. My 2001 VW Passat came with the Premium 5 radio w/ additional single DIN VW CD player. It also had the optional VW CD changer mounted in the trunk. I removed the stock 2-single DIN head units and replaced with a newer double-DIN VW Bluetooth enabled stereo/CD. I upgraded the speakers to Polk Audio separates in all 4 doors. The radio didn't push enough wattage for base. This Infinity Unit provides more base that I hoped. It really sounds great.

Pros: Not expensive, easily connected, not huge size, great sound, good name-brand company, comes with multiple brackets for mounting options... I use the speaker level inputs, although it does accept line level inputs.

Cons: I personally do not have any cons to list about the unit. I really love the unit. The only con is really for the Crutchfield adviser who didn't suggest this unit. I told him I was on a very strict budget. he said "no problem" and suggested an amp, subs + connection kit...well over $600 worth of stuff. I bought this as an open box for + a connection kit....all for very close to my budget.

Great sound for such a small unit, it fills my hatchback with bass. I have to turn it down honestly or it will cause too much vibration. Easy to set up and get going, the hardest thing for me was getting the long bolts that hold the feet on to align with the mounting nut.

Pros: Easy to set up and use, great bass for the price.

Cons: The mounting bolts are a pain, I had to put the unit on a table and get down to eye level and tweak it a bit to get them to attach.

Good product for an amp + speaker combo. It adds a decent volume of bass for my small VW Jetta. It is by no means a trunk vibrating bass product, but that was not what I was looking for either. For my tastes, it was good - only takes up a small space and gives decent thumps.

Pros: Small enclosure does not take up trunk space. Looks sharp. Sound level decent.

Great product. Easy to install and produces a lot of tight bass. Sound can be tweaked and modified using not only the given bass adjust control module but the dub itself can be tweaked using the dials on the sub. Overall great fantastic product. Thinking about purchasing a second.

Pros: Easy install great sound lots of ways to tweak sound

Cons: Cage on sub rattled looses. Fixed with Sylicone

I bough the basslink for my 08 accord coupe and it has proven to be worth the money. I'm more of a metal guy so I played with the gain and bass boost on the sub and the treble and subwoofer controls on the stereo (factory premium audio system, 7 speakers) and it sounds great!

Pros: Great price, great sound

Cons: In the 08 accord coupe it doesn't fit in the corners closest to the bumper so they had to lay it down right behind the back bench in the trunk with it firing up. Not a real issue with the product just placement in a specific car.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am a dad of 3 and I have a Chevy Traverse. It has a decent amount of cubic feet and this sub fills it with more than needed bass. I just wanted to round out my factory system with a little bass and this product works perfectly. I had never performed an install on my own and with the aid of Cruchfield and google searches this was so easy. Although Crutchfield tried to direct me to buy their powered sub the reviews made me think I would need a bit more bass than it offered so I went with this Inifinity. I have zero regrets as most reviews say the same. I have heard this item might stop working after 3 years or so but for the price I wont loose any sleep on it. I wonder if those who burn this out in 2-3 years have this pumping really hard all the time. I can't turn this thing up all the way without it being too much so I wonder if my sub's lifespan will be longer... I plan to mak a youtube install vid so i will upadate this review with that link later if possible.

Pros: Sounds awesome, Cost is relatively low, space saver, easy install.

Cons: Doesn't fit under seat but anything that does will not produce nearly as much bass.

Pros: If you can set your crossover and gain settings high on the sub and then make your adjustments on the head unit. The control stat is great for knocking it down or cranking it up.

I am incredibly satisfied and impressed with this unit. I tried the Sound Ordnance B-8PT and hated it. My 13 Subaru WRX sedan is tight on cargo space so I was trying to avoid using the trunk but since I wasn't liking the S/O i gave the basslink a try and I'm glad I did. It tucked nicely in the corner of my trunk and the second I turned it on I knew it was exactly what I was looking for. The bass is DEEP and LOUD. I only have the gain up about 1/3, bass boost all the way down and the crossover at around 90hz and this thing pounds. Whether I'm listening to Rock, Rap, or Top 40 it hits all the right notes and I'm impressed with the quality of the bass as well. This will be a long term fixture in my car

Pros: Cost, Power, Quality

Cons: *shrugs*

it wont rattle the car three blocks down the road but it sure does sound good to anyone inside of it. Im using a complete factory non-dsp system e39 540i and it sounds good with the back arm rest down and the ski pass open. I listen to more metal now but after i installed this i just had to put on some of my old NWA and it was awesome! With pretty much every setting maxed out it was just barely enough to say it sounded really good. But the point is that it did sound.

Pros: adds that missing bass to your car's factory radio easy to set up remote bass control adjuster

Cons: has enough bass to make the rest of my radio sound bad by comparison lol.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installation was much easier once I asked Crutchfield's technical support folks for the wire color codes to connect this to the factory wiring. Not only did they provide that information but they emailed me exploded views of the connectors leading to and from the factory Infinity amp with each pinout labeled. Saved me plenty of time. Thank you very much Crutchfield for the help. The sub sounds great in the back end of my son's Durango. We opted to make it a movable installation due to the outdoor stuff he does. Strapped it down with a ratcheting tie down and put a quick disconnect on the power and ground wires. Works great ! I recommend this subwoofer for anyone who wants thunderous bass at a very reasonable cost.

Pros: Price. Almost all the wiring you need is included in the box. Installation help from Crutchfield. Auto-ON feature is nice.

Cons: No power or ground wiring included. If you want to be able to remove this easily without having a hot wire flailing around, you'll need to purchase a connector.

Awesome on my 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

Carlos from Coconut Creek, FL on 1/4/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My 2013 Santa Fe with the factory stereo had no bass, but the mid and treble sounded very good. My stereo is not the Infinity one but it has the bluetooth, rearview camera and other cool stuff so I did not want to replace it. I am so glad I purchased this BassLink. The installation was simple once I downloaded the schematics from the Hyundai tech site. Those schematics show how to remove the stereo. In the 2013 Santa Fe it's a lot easier than in previous years. You pop the side vents out and you get access to the four screws that hold the stereo in place, you unscrew them and the stereo slides out. The Hyundai site shows what each connector pin is. I spliced the rear speaker wires to get the input for the subwoofer. I got the power really easily by using the trunk outlet. I spliced the DC wires and made a tiny hole below the outlet to get the sub power cables out. The unit sounds amazing. I enjoyed the tuning process. But found their documented process difficult. So I downloaded a free tone generator for my phone called True Tone which allows you to play any frequency. I plugged the phone to the aux input and went through all the frequencies until they all sounded even. This took about 30 minutes. I found this was a lot easier than the Basslink recommended method of using a recording. For the phase setting especially. All I had to do was play a 50 hz tone continuously and then flip the switch back and forth to hear the difference and pick the setting that sounded better.

Pros: Awesome sound The perfect amount of bass for the Hyundai Santa Fe It's beautiful I find myself rediscovering my music Easy to install although at the beginning it can seem overwhelming. Once you start it's not that difficult.

Cons: No equalizer (only one 40Hz gain adjustment knob in addition to the unit gain knob).

Great For Adults, Terrible for Teenagers

andrewMN from Minnesota on 12/21/2012

I purchased this sound system for my father who wanted to "feel" his music more in his truck. His budget was tight and didn't want large carpeted subwoofer boxes rumbling around in the back of his suburban. I choose this product not only because of it's price but because it has mounting brackets that allow you to secure the entire unit to the floor. It's small footprint allows plenty of room to haul cargo. The only downside of this unit is without a stereo with a "loud" or "bass boost" function it won't rattle any windows. If you are looking for something that people will be able to hear from inside their houses, keep looking. With the proper tweaking of your car stereo's EQ and a stereo head unit that can push more watts to a subwoofer this sub can really help enrich the overall sound in your vehicle.

Pros: Full Sound, Easy Installation Plenty loud enough for anyone with reasonable taste

Cons: No ability to upgrade any components (woofer, amp) Doesn't sit securely without bolting it down to your vehicles floor Little ability to alter the "loudness" of the sub without an aftermarket stereo

The Basslink is a great all in-one subwoofer. I installed it under my load floor in my 06 Forester where the spare tire once resided. Completely out of view, and acoustically a great location. The Basslink hits very hard and can handle very low frequencies with aplomb. And that's with it turned up only 40-50%. The kicker is that it's barely audible from outside the car. Great buy.

Pros: Excellent low frequency response, hits hard, no distortion, takes up very little space, price is right, easy to install.

Cons: Can't think of any, honestly.

This thing sounds great. My music listening is 80's, classic rock, and christian pop. I really like the remote gain control provided where I can add more bass or tak more away from the drivers seat while listening. Connectioons are straightforward and fits a wide array of applications. Mine went under the back seat of a gmc extrended cab pickup, tight fit, but does fit. Hooked it up to a new JVC in dash with sub out. Was purchased as open box scratch and sent. Box was opened and everything was included, could not any sign of use or scratches or dents anywhere. This thing is very well done for the money.

Pros: Great sound, easy connections, economically priced.

Cons: The only negative was the install, which would have ben the same for any sub in my particular vehicle. I had a little difficulty getting through the firewall.

I was searching for a sub and amp with a very limited budget. I found this powered sub and realy expected too much. When it did work, it was okay... but only really lasted for a few days before blowing out (or just did not produce any bass notes at all). I shipped it back and got another and the new one lasted just one night. I did not push it too hard, but apparently more than it can withstand. My best advice is accept that you get what you pay for. If you listen to rap/ hip hop or even dubstep (not my thing), then this sub is not for you. I had this in the back of my Cherokee. Once again, it was okay considering the price. If you want something that will thump and really feel, you need a sub and amp.

Pros: Crutchfield customer service was great and helpful!

Cons: didn't last (blew out after a few hours of use) and did not make much of a difference from not having a sub.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If you're yearning for an early pair of hearing aids or to annoy others at stoplights with booming, license plate buzzing noise then keep looking. If your tastes are a bit more refined and you like clean, distortion-free music from low to moderately high volume, read on. I was looking for more low-end depth for the otherwise-excellent aftermarket Kenwood/Pioneer/Blaupunkt system in my '92 Mustang GT without hacking up the cherry interior. This filled the bill--it adds low end for full, rich sound in every genre from classical to classic rock. It tucks away in the corner of the hatch and, once dialed in, gives smooth, non-directional sound. The wired remote allows tweaking the bass to complement whatever is playing. The only negative I see is the lack of mounting options for small cars like mine with the spare tire under a carpeted fiberboard floor cover. There is no way to permanently mount the unit and still access the spare. The unit is heavy enough that some Velcro on the mounting feet keeps it from sliding around but the retractable cargo area cover needs to stay closed so it doesn't become a projectile in an accident. Run the battery wire through the firewall next to an existing wiring harness or cable for easier installation and to minimize the chance of drilling into something you don't want holes in. Remember to seal around the wire with a dab of black RTV.

Pros: Smooth sound at lower volume but still capable of substantial punch at higher settings. Volume blend easy to control with supplied wired remote. Easy to install if you have a basic knowledge of tools. Excellent value for the money. Crutchfield threw in a free EFX 10-gauge amp wiring kit containing everything necessary for a clean, professional installation to the stereo head unit. If you want to run direct connections to speakers you'll need to supply your own speaker wires.

Cons: No permanent mounting options for small vehicles if you want to keep your spare tire accessible. This would be an easy 5-star rating if there was a permanent mounting option that wouldn't preclude access to my spare tire.

Very suprised by the amount of bass it produces. It doesn't take up much space. Its a compliment 2 the 55w polk audio speakers i have. It's by no means weak base. For those with a Honda Pilot the the ANC system does cause the speaker to hum. Hope you can find a solution, i haven't. Where to begin.., Ordered this product based on prior reviews, budget, and limited space in my 2008 Chevy Malibu. Had is professionally installed for $128.00. After installation, I laughed and asked the installer if it was even on. No difference in bass at all. Displeased I called Crutchfield and they sent out a replacement. Now I have to return two of these units to Crutchfield.

Needed a sub for my 92 Corvetter convertible - without cutting holes in my baby or losing every inch of storage space. This unit was recommended by Crutchfield and fits well in the back storage area. Allows access to the LHS storage hatch and blocks the side that houses things that don't need frequent access. While this unit will not win a sub volume contest, it provides enough bass to sound good with the top down. It fits in a location that is pretty small, and takes up less space than a Bazooka 8" or 6.5" sub. All in all, a very good solution to a tough problem.

Pros: Acceptable bass from a very small package.

Cons: Don't see any.

Sound is extremely good with crossover turned down to 50 MHZ, and only at 50 percent volume on unit and volume control knob at half way point. fills the whole truck with great sounding, clean, crisp bass. with all the doors closed you can't even hear the base outside which is great too. I also used the Infinity reference 6 3/4 speakers in all four doors. Awesome bass unit. I was looking to get a little extra bass in my 08 Jeep wrangler after I already had the stock infinity system with the car. This unit delivered with bass beyond what i was looking for. The install was easy and wasn't all that difficult. Being my first install of a sub it took me a good bit of time, but i got it working properly within a couple hours.

Pros: great bass unit with a lot of bass

me and my father installed this product in my trunk, i already had all the wires coming from my firewall and through the car because i had a couple of bazookas in their before. so most of the wiring was very easy. the bass is incredible, and rattles all the windows in my car i also listen to a wide variety of music ranging from hip hop to classical. and everything sounds great with this product. i would highly recommend this product to anyone if they are looking for great quality from such a small product. all in all i am very pleased with this product i have searched many different products before i went with the infinity bass link and i am extremely happy that i spent the money for this!!

Pros: great bass, great lows, great value, simply great product

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit worked great for 2.5 years before it stopped working. It would blow the 20 amp fuse as soon as power was supplied. I could not find a repair shop in this city that would look at it. A friend who has a TV repair shop tried to fix it but was not able to keep it working for more than a few minutes. A check on the internet indicates this is a common problem with this product.

Pros: Great sound.

Cons: Short working life.

John R from Denver, Co on 9/7/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to install, once a way through the firewall is found. The sound is great. With the mounting hardware, it can be secured to the floor of the trunk or at the side of the trunk, and can fire sideways or up. If trunk space were neede, it could easily be removed temporarily. The bass is strong, rounds out the sound from the in-cabin speakers (door speakers).

Pros: Easy to install, and can come out temporarily if trunk space neede. It hooked right up to the existing system - did not need to install a separate amp.

Cons: You are on your own finding a way through the firewall going from the battery to the subwoofer in the trunk.

Good Sub

Kingsmith from Detroit, MI on 8/28/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sub works great in my Saturn Outlook. Fills the cabin with more than enough bass. In fact I cant turn it up more than about 30% without overpowering the rest of the system, guess its about time to upgrade that! Did have an issue upon installing it but it had more to do with the free wiring kit they send with this. Sub was all wired, power light was on and I was reading continuity to power and ground at the sub but wasnt getting any sound from it. Every once and a while it would pop or kinda fizzle a little. After further investigation I found that the voltage being supplied was low. Stil high enough to power the light and make you think it is on but not enough power to actually drive the sub. I found that the fuse mount in the wiring kit that came from Crutchfield had a loose terminal. The fuse blades were loose in the connector so I tightened up the connectors with some needle nose pliers and reinserted the fuse and presto! the sub came alive and I havent had an issue since. So if you have issues where it looks like the sub is on but you get no sound, check the fuse holder before declaring it DOA.

Pros: Strong bass, really fills in the missing sound from the factory system

Cons: Double check the free wiring kit that comes with this, may have loose terminals in the fuse holder. (No reflection on the sub, but since crutchfield supplies the wiring kit and the sub needs good power I thought this is worth mentioning here.)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is one potent piece of tune-making hardware! It fits behind the back seat of my Jeep Wrangler. The sound is just what was needed to complete my sound system. Installation was fairly straightforward and went smoothly. The unit operates exactly as expected as far as the range of control, remote turn-on and remote level control. I've tried it with the top open which generates considerable wind noise and am quite satisfied with the volume and clarity of sound delivery. I wouild definitely recommend this powered sub to anyone, especially anyone looking for an uncomplicated and relatively easy way to enjoy excellent bass response in their vehicle.

Pros: Easy to install in Jeep Wrangler, great sound, excellent controls.

Cons: As with any sub it takes up space which is kind of scarce in a Jeep.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this from Crutchfield and literally right after the return window closed, the sub stopped working. I can get output for all of a couple minutes and then nothing. We are talking professionally installed and used with gently. Crutch techs can't help at all. We have checked everything it feels like 100's of times. I should have listened to the seemingly endless complaints around the net instead of trying to save a buck. My only options were to pay to have it returned. I might be crazy but, I DON'T WANT TO PAY MORE FOR A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. This product and Infinity as a company are both garbage and Crutch should not be carrying them. Now I have an expensive ugly paperweight.

Pros: good non-window-shattering-bass while it lasted

Cons: completely unreliable.

Pros: Value, Power, Thump for the buck!

Cons: It is a little big in size, but well worth the space it takes up.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was in the market for a sub/head unit to improve the sound in my suv. I researched for days, and finally settled on this sub and the Kenwood X396. The only way I could be happier is if I had listened to these other reviewers initially and just bought this thing without the research. It bumps. The settings on my head unit, the sub itself, and the sub control knob are only at about half, and when I listen to my rap/pop/house music my car vibrates. Don't know why I ever considered buying separate subs, boxes, and amps. Crutchfield included everything I needed, and I installed it all in a day. I had never done one of these before. My friends are impressed. Very happy with this baby. I also picked up the $28 3yr SquareTrade warranty, just in case something happens.

Pros: Everything.

Cons: Doesn't install itself.

02 Jeep Wrangler doesn't have any bass even with the weeny 6.5" sub in the center console. I bought this in Dec 02 bc it was Infinity and had the most rms for a powered sub compared to anybody else. Perfect for a Wrangler trunk space too. This couldn't have been more simple to install without replacing the head unit. hardly ran any wires. I have been abusing this box for ten years on a stock unit and I just upgraded my head unit to one with RCAs and sub adjustments. WOW... I'm upset I didn't know it could have been this clear and impressive sooner.... Also a friend bought one around the same time and he threw his on the back seat of a 03 Dakota R/T. It is still pumping really good after all this time. We paid top $$ and I'm not upset when you divide it by 10 years. Quality sounding, solid, solid, speaker and enclosure. I bought this 10 years ago for $400 and it was worth it then. This price is worth it now. You won't win a competition but, you'll turn a head or two at the stop lights.

Pros: auto off eliminates the need for a remote wire for tougher installs or older stock head units do not have a remote line wire already. Mounting options are nice for optimal positioning per vehicle. Small but, productive and clear is GREAT for hatch backs and open vehicles trying to save space and fill in the missing tones. 200rms/400peak is top powered sub available. Incredible upper bass, open hrtz to 110 or higher if you like it that way.

Cons: There is only ONE powered 10" subwoofer with a reflective(passive) unpowered speaker/woofer installed parallel (speaker does have a purpose and does not hurt the performance by any means). Hardly a con but, don't be confused by literature and be disappointed. My opinion is that it's better not closed in a trunk but, open or in compact vehicles. Clearity would be hidden and wasted.

Ok for some people...

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This powered sub is not really that bad, depending on the application. However, we tried it in our Nissan Rogue and could not get it dialed in well enough to be satisfied. We got a real 'mid-bass', boomy sound and that was with the crossover tuned down to 50hz. I believe it had to do with it being an open cabin vehicle for the most part. If the signal could have played lower and not have bad freq response, it definetly seemed to have enough power. It also seemed to break up and you could hear the coils or something clapping on the sub during excursion. I would be willing to bet this could perform a lot better in a vehicle with a trunk.

Pros: compact size considering the driver being used, decent power

Cons: bad freq response, reliability - questionable

Pros: powerful, alot of adjustments to make it perfect, fairly compact......looks good even if it does stick out alittle.

Cute Little Sub with decnt Thud

Jake W from Corning, NY on 7/6/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great little sub for the price. You will def not win any bragging rights with this sub and hey you may even get laughed at by some due to it's size. But good things can come in small packages. If your looking for something that will look cool in your truck this is not a sub for you as you really can't put a box around it as it's already in its own unit. This was just the right level of volume for what I was looking for. This adds some thud to my music without taking away from the lyrics or other instruments. I listen to mostly rock / pop so I like to be able to hear the song but also feel it. I do a lot of small town driving so I did not want something that would annoy people blocks away and this thing def does not. Installation was pretty simple would have been super easy if I could have used the RCA jacks but I had to use the high level inputs. Overall I am very happy with this, my goal was not to give up truck space but be able to add some thud to my music and this solved both of them. Would easily recommend this to anyone as a first sub and want to spice up there ride a bit.

Pros: Small, does not take up much trunk space at all. The bass remote is a nice touch as it allows you to turn off the thud when you get close to home :) or just don't want it on. The controls on the sub could easily be accessed or tricky depending on how you mount it. This thing provides a nice rich sound and decent thud without the thud overpowering the music or causing bodily harm. Also not too loud to totally annoy people around you.

Cons: Due to the shape of this thing mounting can be a bit tricky. It comes with feet for both vertical or flat mounting but I just found the shape and size kind of strange to find a good place to put this. This may have just been me and the way I ran the wires. But you do have to mount it as it will slid or tip over if left untied down. It's also a bit heavy to just screw to the back of the seats, at least I thought so.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This subwoofer is perfect. it is very powerful and very easy to use/adjust. I put it in my 1997 camry and it doesn't take up any more room than the bazooka 8" tube that is along side of it, which is also a great product, get at least 100 watt though. The reason i rated 4 out of 5 is because the mounting brackets are a pain to attack. you have to fit a long screw through the hole in the sub but it is nearly impossible to line it up, took me over an hour just to screw the two brackets on, i had to use a tooth pick to line it up and file down the inside of the sub a little bit. Great unit though. My friend has the kenwood bass package with two 12" subs at 175 watts rms and this is much nicer.

Pros: powerful, strong, and budget friendly. small!

Cons: the brackets are a pain to fit in.

This unit is 5 stars without hesitation in any category! It has perfect sound and utilitiy with its durable case, base and mounting gear. If you take the time to match your crossover or head unit (HPF) filters - you wont be disapointed. I would have paid twice the price for the sound I got (glad I didn't have too!). I have no fear or throwing lawnchairs, baseball, football gear and grocery on top of this unit - a tough, smart and high product. I can't see myself EVER turning the gain up all the way on this unit. I get the needed bass balance at about 50% for most types of music. The remote gain control that comes with it is a MUST for quick adjustments - I never new so many songs had frequencies that low. She's a mirror vibrating, chest thumping joy!

Pros: Great value, sound and practical utility

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First off - if you are planning to use the high level inputs, beware, there are many complaints from users about them. My experience was with factory unit, which includes a factory amp. Not sure if the amps output was too much or too little, but the Basslink would cut out frequently when I had it wired that way. I used the subwoofer speaker leads straight as inputs. When I switched to a LOC, everything is fine. As for the sound, it sounds nice. It hits pretty hard for what it is. Don't expect to notify the hood you are approaching. I didn't get it for that, so that's fine. I turn the bass boost off, and keep the crossover as high as possible, trying to get it to provide a little more woofer than subwoofer sound, but this thing is not feeling it. It gets sloppy unless you get the crossover down a bit lower (2/3?) . When it tune it for reggae or hip hop (crossover low, boost up) it sounds much better. It sounds like that's what it was designed for, definitely sounds better than with rock or metal. But it seems tuned too low for a 10", as it leaves some notes off basslines that wander a little too high. (even with the crossover turned all the way up) The remote - I find myself constantly changing it, glad its there. One gripe - I wish that some company would make a remote like this one, but with an on off switch for the amp. That way you could skip the remote wire or LOCs with remote triggers.

Pros: Deep sound, compact , decent features, all in one for a reasonable price. Remote. Loud, but not outside of the car.

Cons: Narrow sound range, speaker level inputs didn't work out for me, somewhat difficult to mount compared to a traditional enclosure

Cons: none found as of this review

So upon reading a bunch of customer reviews I purchased this for my 2011 Kia Sorento. I wanted something user friendly that didn't take up a ton of space but had a good amount of bass. I am pleased to report that this thing is LOUD! For only having 200W of power it is very impressive. Following the instructions that came with it really helped as far as getting it dialed in. Infinity have shocked me with the amount of bass that can be produced from this small of a sub/amp combo. Wiring it in with its built in line converter made adding it to my factory stereo pretty straight forward.

Pros: Great affordability, Easy to setup, A Lot of Bass.

Cons: This is a small thing but using the auto on mode through the line converter the amp will stay on for up to 5 minutes after the car is shut off. I don't think this will cause any issues but it concerns me a litle.

This sub is a great addition to my system! I put it in the back seat (no seats anymore) of my 2005 Ford Ranger Extended Cab. Along with my AVIC-D3 Pioneer head unit pushing two Pioneer 6x8s in the front doors and two 6x9s in boxes mounted on the platform I had to fabricate for it all to work. Its amazing to see how many people stop me and ask what type of system I have and who installed it. Thanks to Crutchfield's support and products over the years, I can honestly say I did it all myself. As for the sub, it gave the low-level "umph" that my system was missing. I was surprised by the amount of sound that is actually put out by this relatively small unit. The servo unit in it definitely protects the speaker from being over-exerted. GREAT buy for only 200 dollars and the free wiring kit sealed the deal. There was one problem with the install though. On the power wire from the battery, my fuse holder was malformed to where the fuse didn't even make proper contact with the power and if I went over a bump to hard, it would cut out. After crimping it down, it is working fine. I would definately consider putting another one of these in my next vehicle

Pros: Sound, Convenience of Install, The ability to get such great sound out of my little truck.

Cons: Wiring kit's fuse holder, length of power cable

Great addition to the system in my sons old Nissan Pathfinder. We replaced the head unit, speakers and added the Basslink. Integrates very well and is not one of those one note subwoofers.

Cons: Mounting is discrete

I have a 2008 Subaru Impreza 2.5i and is just looking to complete my sound system. I have 6 1/2 Alpine Speakers 240 Watts and a Pioneer AVH 3200BT Head unit. I'm just missing that solid Bass that even aftermarket speakers can't provide. I also didn't want to sacrifice trunk space, for my family travels quite often. This product is just perfect. It gives you all the Bass that you need without sounding annoying. My wife loves it. It's mounted at the far back of my trunk and still leaves me plenty of space. I have the controller mounted inside my glovebox compartment and when I crank it all the way up, my whole car shakes. So, I just leave it right in the middle. This is the best bang for the buck. For its price, you get the sub, the amp and the free wiring. What else can you ask for?

Pros: Not annoying Bass where you can hear the music anymore. Easy to control. Good size

Cons: NA

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to hook up and adjust, a reasonable package to add some bass to factory systems. If you want some added base for a richer sound it works well. If you are looking for moderate to serious car shaking bass, this isn't the set up for you. I added this to a Dodge Intrepid with a factory head unit and Alpine 6x9s in the doors. It adds the low end bass the car is missing with the existing components, when you get the volume up moderately you can hear/feel the BassLink begin to struggle.

Pros: easy hook up, all in one package, remote adjustment...reasonable amount of base for the price

Cons: struggles when moderately pushed.

For the money and ease of installation you can't beat this setup. I wanted a lightweight system for my Cobra and this was just the ticket. With price shipped to my door INCLDUING the amp wiring kit it was a no brainer. Thanks again Crutchfield for coming out on top.

Pros: Ease of Installation! Fits in tight places. Price was right!

Cons:

The subwoofer of choice for factory systems...

Brennan from Charlottesville, VA on 4/9/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

To make this quick and to the point: this is one heck of a sub for what it is. The response is tight on kickdrums, accurate on melodic basslines, and can be as boomy and powerful as you want on hip-hop/rap tracks. I wired up the unit in my Honda Fit and the install is clean and convenient. The included remote is great, but I just set the Basslink to the level I wanted and left it. A hatchback is a perfect place for this sub - it doesn't have to work hard at all to generate a solid sound signature - but, I can't imagine any vehicle being overwhelming for the Basslink provided one doesn't expect the performance of a 12 inch sub backed by a 500 watt amp. With the gain set about 1/4-1/3 of the way to maximum, I can turn my stock headunit up to 3/4 volume, with aftermarket speakers, without much if any distortion. I don't even get the "servo" maximum excursion light from the sub - meaning this thing is hardly breaking a sweat vibrating my entire hatchback! Anybody who has heard (and felt) a Shaker 500 in a Mustang GT knows that the Shaker systems are pretty bassy for stock audio. This Infinity Basslink will rival a Shaker setup, if tuned to do so, in a hatchback or SUV, where the is not a barrier to the cabin. Even sedans aren't too much. Anybody looking for musical bass to complete an aftermarket sound sound or upgrade a stock sound system should seriously consider the Basslink. I recommend the 3-year Crutchfield warranty being it's a powered unit: piece of mind for only $30.

Pros: Remote bass controller, ability to be accurate or downright boomy (for those certain occasions), compact, expertly designed by Infinity.

Cons: Powered, all-in-one design means greater likelihood of total failure if abused/overused.

This was what I was looking for nice clean bass sounds. If your looking for serious boom this one is not for you. It would make a nice addition to any car or suv. I didnt want to give up trunk space for my 88 SS because it has T-Tops. Thank you Infinity I was 100% satisfied and it worked right out of the box.

Pros: Easy Install technical support was awesome!

Cons: Only one RCA cable in the free AMP kit.

ChrisG from Lexington KY on 4/8/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A great, space saving unit that was as easy as any subwoofer will be to install. The hardest part is doing the power and signal wiring neatly from the front to the back of the car, but you have that with any sub. The mounting of this unit was easy and preserved space in our trunk. Removing it if we ever needed to haul something would be relatively easy as well. Sound is good and the needed adjustments are there. Don't expect it to sound like two 12" drivers with 1000 watts behind it, but my teenager is happy with the way it thumps. Push it to its upper end and you get a bit of distortion, but then again, all the rest of the speakers in my system were distorting by then too, so I am not going to run it that high..

Pros: Size, installation & performance

Cons: None for the money

Pretty weak

Archangel from Baldwin Park, CA on 4/6/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

There is hardly any power to this thing. And the sound is very, very weak. I've had 8" subs that hit harder than this 10". I understand it's 200RMS, but I thought it would provide SOMETHING. If I was better off with just my factory speakers, then what's the point? This produces slightly more lower end than the factory speakers did... Even reaches as low as 40hz. But at LOW volumes. Increase the volume and not only does it not hit hard, but it sounds like someone banging on a plastic jug.

Pros: Lots of controls and knobs, goes low in frequency

Cons: Very weak, sound like plastic at loud volumes

I added this to a stock system with navigation so I had to use the universal interface. I went online and attempted to find which color of wires were the rear speaker wires. Through my search I found several different answers and it took me about an hour. I did my install on a late Sunday afternoon. I did not believe Crutchfield would have staff available but, I called Crutchfield technical support anyway. To my supprise, I talked to a live person and he gave me the wire colors specific to my vehicle. I did not even have to stay on hold. I had my answer in about 2 minutes calling Crutchfield and wasted about an hour online trying to figure it out for myself. The sub sounds great it is compact wtih the amp and crossover built in. Great purchase, great sound, great price, great install.

Pros: Crutchfield technical support. Thank you.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am giving this 5/5 stars because it honestly deserves it, for the size, weight, and value. You'd be hard pressed to find anything better. You won't be happy with this if you're the type of person that wants to shake the windows of department stores as you drive by, and go so loud that you have a hard time breathings, but it is what it is. A great addition to any stock or lightly modified aftermarket system in which you would like some decent bottom end that the door speakers can't offer. I went into this purchase with my expectations pretty low as at home I run a multi thousand dollar NAD separates coupled with Klipsch Reference, but I didn't want to destroy the cargo space of my 2010 Honda Fit Sport with a big heavy enclosure and amps. In a SUV, hatchback, or truck application I feel this is PLENTY of bass for the average listener, the remote volume knob is great and very high quality, along with the rest of the unit, fit and finish is very nice and much better than I figured it would be. I'd say the quote of it being able to dig down into the 20hz range is a little bit exaggerated, but for any type of music from rap, alternative, indie, pop, dub step, it can keep up very well minus some really really really deep notes, but it holds its own with little to no distortion. The EFX amp wiring kit also worked out pretty well despite what some people say in its review. Anyway it definitely gets my approval for its compact size and great performance with low current requirements

Pros: light weight, compact size, excellent value, great mounting options, remote included

Cons: for the price none

The perfect addition to my factory Bose system...

Jer from Las Vegas, NV on 3/27/2012

If you have a factory stereo that just needs some "subterranean SLAM"... in other words, there IS bass, but not DEEP enough to feel in your FEET, add the Infinity Basslink. I added it to my 2005 Mazda RX-8's factory Bose system, and it was EXACTLY what the doctor ordered. It sounded MUCH more like a custom system, with the very low end extended just enough. The remote is a godsend, since you'll want to add this "seasoning" to taste. More on some albums, less on others. You cannot improve the listening experience more for three times the money.

Pros: Easy install, perfect for leases or cars that you don't want to hack into much. Small. Effective. Musical. CHEAP.

Cons: NONE. No kidding. Hiphop fans who want to shake OTHER cars at stoplights, look elsewhere, though. It's strong, but not maniacal.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have looking at this and 3 others for a while now and when I found out this one was on sale, I had to get it. I installed it in the right rear in my 99 Saturn SL2. Let me tell you that I can not turn this thing passed the mid points on the settings. If I do, the whole car rattles. This speaker is so powerful for a 10". I have to admit that this speaker is actually to powerful for my car, which is good thing considering it has a remote to it so I can turn the bass up or down at will. The instructions are straight forward and easy to understand. Does take some time to find tune the speaker with an aftermarket radio that has tuning capabilities also. Overall, I would of given it a 10, but the max is 5.

Pros: Wired remote to adjust the bass while you are listening. Very user friendly. More bass than you will need, unless you want to blow your windows out.

i installed two of the basslink subs under the rear seats of my 2001 chevy silverado after replacing head unit and door speakers. Wow it sounds incredible. Installed easily with the free wiring kit and was a breeze to tune. I believe any bad reviews are probably related to the install. I have heard many great systems and my truck is right there. Awesome power from a 10" sub. I play my music loud with alot of bass and they hit hard and so clean. No need to turn the gain all the way up. I ended up leaving my gains slightly below half and it hits hard. If you got room get two. Dont hesitate on these subs or from purchasing from crutchfield. Great product from a great company.

The Basslink Rules!

Jay Grif from Clementon NJ on 3/12/2012

I installed the Basslink in a 2003 Kia Sorento EX that came stock with the "premium delphi sound system". It was the 2nd step of a complete audio system overhaul.(1st step replace factory HU with a Kenwood Excelon x994). The basslink is a perfect complement to any system. It adds good clean punchy bass to your system, it's easy to install, & takes up very little cargo space. You'd be hardpressed to find another subwoofer that can match this units size/sound ratio. The wired remote is a must have so you can adjust your bass on the fly depending on music type, bit rate, recording quality, etc... Since I've gotten this unit, my 18 year old son has gotten one for his 2002 Maxima with the factory Bose system. Everyone who has heard my system is impressed by the sound from such a relatively small unit. The only person who doesn't like it is my wife. I turn it off when she rides with me. I can't understand the negative reviews, the unit does just what it's intended for. It adds quality lows to your music without being overpowering. It's easy to tweak to suit your tastes, and doesn't eat up your cargo space. Whether your looking to improve the quality of your factory system or doing a complete overhaul as I am, you can't go wrong with the bass link. (I am also going to review the Focal component & coaxial speakers, & Kenwood KAC 8405 AMP that I installed in my truck.

Pros: Great sound, great price, small footprint.

Cons: None so far.

I have used Bazooka powered subs for almost 20 years and always thought the sound was pretty good until I purchased a car with an enclosed trunk. I purchased the Infinity Basslink upon Duke from Crutchfield Sales recomendation. I have to admit, I was very skeptical when I saw the size but Duke ensured me that this would perform better than the Bazooka in an enclosed trunk. Great Bass for TRUNK in Lexus IS 300

BrentLex from Denver, CO on 3/1/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Like many others, I read reviews to see how this sub would perform in my trunk. I rarely write reviews, but thought I would give back to all those that helped me with my decision. I needed a sub that had a small footprint in the trunk of my 2003 Lexus IS 300, but gave me the bump I was looking for. Installation was a snap - simply ran through rear speakers and didnt touch the deck. Now, I used to work for an electronics store and have done the whole two 12's, sealed box, faret cap, 2 amps, the whole 9 yards. I'm not looking to win any competitions and have got that out of my system. The infinity performs nicely - I have it at 50% power and I can feel it through my seat and see my mirrors move. That's usually good for most people unless you want your heart to skip a beat! My trunk is completely sealed and my installer buddy was concerned this would not be enough bass and needed more of an open environment - but he was surprised and is now going to install one in his wifes mazda protege! Buy this sub, stop comparing others. You will be happy.

Pros: Great Bass in decent package Small Footprint Adjustable bass controls Easy install

Cons: Haven't found one yet.

Amazing Sub

mkw from Blacksburg, VA on 2/27/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After installing the sub with my lady, we turned everything on and tuned the sub based on the instructions. The set-up its self was very easy (though I have previous knowledge of circuitry) and after many meticulous tunings (being the audiophile I am) the subwoofer is almost never turned more than a quarter of the way up on the remote, has amazing deep bass, a punch like a kick from chuck norris, and PLENTY of power. I have seen many other reviews saying "it won't shake your neighbors windows" but it certainly does for me. Also, This unit was originally out of my price range, but I could not be more happy that I saved up and got it anyway. I have installed it in my 98 Jeep Wrangler, and nothing could be better for the price, size, and the amazing sound.

Pros: Great rich bass, punch like a kick from chuck norris himself, extremely easy installation, overall great customization from the sound to the mounting and control.

Cons: none. Crutchfield is a joy to work with and I wouldn't even consider buying this cheaper from elsewhere with lack of support and no free wiring kit!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this in my Silverado crew cab wanting to add some bass to my music and not take up a bunch of room. I just installed it this morning and I'm very pleased with the results. This little unit packs a punch no matter what music I listen to, and I listen to pretty much any type of music out there. Don't expect to be heard coming from a mile away, but this unit provides plenty of bass. Installation was very easy. The unit is under the driver side back seat and fits there perfect. Total time for install was about 2 hours taking my time(bad back). My combination is a Sony Xplod head unit, Alpine component speakers (6 1/2 inch) in the front doors, Infinity reference two way speakers (6 1/2 inch) in the rear doors, and of course the bass link. With this combo I could not be happier!

Pros: Very easy install. Very nice bang for the buck. Does not take much space. Easy tuning.

2006 F-150 Standard Cab install

Alan M from Millville, NJ on 2/21/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just installed this unit in my 2006 stand cab F-150. Behind the seat from the factory is a plastic tray that I THOUGHT I was going to have to remove. With slight modifications to the supplied feet the entire unit was able to fit snug in the tray and mounted it to that as opposed to going through the carpet into the floor. I took the passenger seat out for ease of pulling wires and when I pulled the carpet back, I discovered a grommet under the seat towards the back of the cab. This was used as my entry point for the power lead from the battery. After running the RCA's, remote and turn on lead from my head unit (Pioneer AVH-P3200BT) I adjusted the dials on the unit per the recommended starting settings. Powered everything up and then held on. Be mindful, this is NOT going to rattle you apart. It's not a high output system nor will it shake your neighbors house. It WILL add a punch to your music. After some time adjusting the unit and the settings in my head unit I got the sound to suit certain music. I mainly listen to various genres of metal and hard rock. The double bass and kick drums perform well on this unit. The drone bass of rap or sloppy bass guitar is when this unit starts lacking and getting muddy. Good thing it has the remote gain adjustment as I used it to take away the mud. FOR THE PRICE this unit is a great compliment. It's not TOO LOUD nor will you do deaf, but in a daily driver it adds a missing element that the door speakers can't product. Great Buy!

Pros: Ease of install and adjustment. Space saving. Good BOOM for the buck.

Cons: None so much as long as you don't expect to win any SPL competitions. If this is bought expecting to blow out the glass you will be disappointed.

My Midlife Crisis Subwoofer!

Joey C from Montgomery, AL on 2/12/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My wife asked what to get for my 40th birthday, and in the spirit of a mild midlife crisis I decided on this sub-woofer. I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 4-Door Pickup with an aftermarket Pioneer Radio, a factory Infinity system amp, and upgraded speakers throughout. I never had a great car audio system as a youngster since all my money went to maintenance, repairs, and gasoline. I say that for reference; know that I'm not comparing this purchase to my glory days as a 16 year old with a tricked out car stereo. I connected the sub to my radio's dedicated sub-woofer RCA outputs, the radio's remote power output, and 10 gauge wires to the battery. My 6x9s in the front doors always delivers moderate bass, but this thing really pumps it out. Mind you, it takes up all the space on the floor behind the passenger seat (mounted vertically) but I rarely carry more than three passengers. The remote bass volume control is great and lets me match bass to the style of music playing. When wanted, I can crank the bass enough to shake the passenger seat (and watch my wife's disgusted look and rolling eyes). I love it! I debated buying an amp and a separate sub and box but this is all in one package and works well.

Pros: Great bass! All in one amp, sub, and enclosure. Relatively simple installation. Remote bass control. Solid construction.

Cons: Hiding installation wiring is challenging. Lost seating for one adult in the back of my truck by installing it (unless they are diminutive or a contortionist)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The infinity basslink was a great little addition to the stock Bose system in my g35. It's great for what it is, it packs a nice punch for its small size. It is extremely compact and I really didn't lose much trunk space. However, it definitely doesn't stack up in terms of bass to enclosed subs and what they can offer. I would recommend it to anyone looking to spend around 200, doesn't have much space, or who doesn't want to deal with the hassle of an enclosure and a separate amp. That being said, if you have the space and the money, there are louder subs out there.

Pros: Small, compact, great bass for it's size, pretty inexpensive, less hassle than enclosed sub, moderately easy to set up

Cons: Does not compare to most enclosed subs (obviously.)

WOW! I have Ford Explorer and have the Bass Link hooked up to a Kenwood X895 with Apline Type R components up front and Alpine Type S full range in the rear. The head unit powers the front and rear speakers only. This Bass Link is awesome. Really rounds out the package and delivers solid bass. I'm not a fan of rumbling or resonating bass. I like bass with a punch and this unit delivers. Highly recommend. Easy to instal and set up. The remote gain control is essential this allows you to control the amount of bass you want. I listen to all types of music from rap, heavy metal, rock to easy listening and having the ability to fine tune the bass is key.

Pros: great sound, solid bass reproduction, easy to install and set up, remote gain control

Nagging Problems

ADT from Alexandria, VA on 2/1/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

FIrst let me say that the customer support at Crutchfield is and always has been fantastic. That being said, I cannot recommend this sub. I rarely write reviews on products but didn't want others to have the same problems I did with this unit. I was looking for something that would fit under the rear deck lid of my Toyota 4Runner and thought that this would fit the bill. The size of the unit was perfect, but I went through 2 subs before I decided that it was not going to work for me. The first unit would not power off when the car was turned off so I sent it back. The second unit began making a "popping" noise about 8 months into owning it. I thought that Infinity was a reputable company, but I was thoroughly disappointed with the quality of these units. In addition to those problems I was NEVER satisfied with the quality of the output. It always sounded "muddy" to me. I have since gone with an Alpine amp and a Kicker 12" shallow sealed sub. So far no issues, and the sound quality is clean and clear at all volume levels. If space is a concern like it was for me, the Infinity works. If sound quality is more or equally important I would look at other options. The shallow box of the Kicker fits just fine and keeps the stock appearance I was looking for to avoid prying eyes of someone that might try to break in to steal the setup. I hope this helps.

A lot more base than I expected. I like that it is light and easy to install. However the wiring is a pain but it is definitely worth it. I really like the volume controller. I could increase or decrease based on my needs. (on the highway or parked). This thing is awesome!

Pros: Strong base,light, great price.

Cons: Nothing that I could think of.

This is the second basslink I have owned. Bought it again for the easy install and the clean clear sound. Work perfect in my VW Golf.

Pros: You can tune in the sound how you want. Several ways to link to your car stereo. Good size.

I put this in a 2003 Xterra. Previously had a 8" bazooka that went south, so I already had the wiring in place. Installed very easy, looks nice, and wow, it sounds great. Way better than the bazooka. For the price, I'd definitely recommend this product.

Pros: Easy installation, price, big sound, and a small space requirement.

Cons: None.

Great Sub Despite One Uncommon Problem

Anonymous from Huntington,WV on 1/26/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This sub packs all the punch you could want and more for the price. Sounds ranging from high bass to low bass are clean and clear. I had an issue with one of the mounting holes being blocked halfway through by some sort of metal, most likely aluminum. Luckily with some help from my dad's tools, I was able to get rid of the extra metal blocking the screw for the mounting bracket. If you use the bass boost feature on the sub itself, do not go to 3DB unless you are okay with flabby, out of tune bass. The best idea for this feature is to max it then dial it back a bit until it sounds clean.

Pros: Price 200w Easy Install (wire running aside) Plenty of Bass for the Space Requirement Works well even in an enclosed trunk space

Cons: Aforementioned Bass Boost issue.

I love the sound this box puts out. Easy to install and set up. It was a little bigger than I thought it was going to be but that's just because i didn't look at the size before hand.

Excellent Sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this item on sale to add a little bit of thump to my stock stereo via line level inputs. Since having children and being a "grown-up" I miss the extra low notes I used to have with my much larger system. The BassLink resides in my trunk and outperforms any of my wildest expectations. I actually have to turn it down from time to time, which is very easy with the supplied controller. For the price, the performance of this unit cannot be beaten!

Pros: Everything

Cons: Tuning can be tricky but ultimately trial and error will get it just right.

Infinity BassLink - Great sound for the price

Chad A from San Diego, CA on 1/23/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This sub took some tuning to get it just right, but after that I really was surprised, mostly by the low frequency response. It does lack a bit of tightness that I would expect to hear from a smaller enclosure like this but in no way take that as a negative. Like I said, tune it and it will rock. Honestly to get a sub, box and amp comparable to this you are going to spend another 50-100% more and for what? But if you want mind rattling bass and kick drums that you can feel in your chest you'll need to spend a bit more.

Pros: Easy to access tuning adjustments and ease of mounting, great sound for the price.

Cons: Slight lack of tight bass

Two thumbs up

The bass link was more than I had even hoped for. I'm not a bass head by any means and my loud stereo playing days are long gone. This amp and sub woofer provides the perfect lows I wanted from my music. I upgraded my entire system but I have to say that I am most pleased by my purchase of the Infinity Bass Link.

Pros: Built in amp Compact design Rich sound for a 10" sub

Cons: None so far

Excellent Value

Great value for the money, you get all of the power of a amp/sub separate set up with the convenience of the powered sub. Bass levels are excellent and the speaker is crisp and clear.

Pros: Quality Sound Convenience

Cons: None

Perfect Bass

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Put in my 2004 Jeep Wrangler. Fits perfectly in the limited space available, and sounds amazing. Install is simple and very straight forward. hardest part was routing the wires. Paired with Alpine Type S dash and roll bar speakers & Alpine head unit. Couldn't be happier with the sound. The supplied wiring kit isn't "garbage" as I read in some reviews. Worked well for my application.

Pros: Size Sound Price

Cons: Nothing

Great boom for your buck
