Cars are getting smaller every year, and we've really noticed an upswing in the popularity of compact powered subwoofers. Now Infinity weighs in with their BassLink SM powered sub, and it'll deliver quality bass from spaces where you never thought a sub could go.
The BassLink SM can deliver powerful bass from under your seat.
Infinity houses the BassLink SM in a slim-profile enclosure that's small enough to fit under the front seat in many vehicles. They designed the 8” shallow-profile woofer specifically for this compact enclosure, so you can count on superior efficiency and performance.
The BassLink SM delivers 125 watts RMS to its sub with a Class D that hardly gets warm when it's working, so there's no worry about installing the BassLink SM under your seat or in some other tight spaces.
The amp features a choice of controls to help you define your sound, including adjustable crossover frequency and bass boost. The BassLink SM also features low- and high-level inputs with an input load switch.
So deliver more bass to your space…with the Bass Link SM, you've got room for the boom.

great bass in a tight space
Pros: its an infinity. thats all there is to say
Just the extra bass punch I was looking for, well balanced and blends well with the rest of my sound system. I would have rated it higher, but the power and ground connections are wimpy.
Pros: Easy to install, good sound.
Cons: Wimpy power and ground connections.
Very clean sounds a lot of bass for such a small sub it's great
Awesome sound from underneath my seat! The punch fills up my Toyota truck and is very clean!. I purchased the higher end RCA cables as I have noticed that quality makes a difference. (Think about bottom shelf whiskey as opposed to top shelf). The installation was simple! I listen to EDM every now and again and it hits hard enough for me. Maybe it's because I'm thirty and I wanna be able to hear emergency vehicles outside of the cab, but that is all about preference! I'm not going to win a Bass competition on Saturday night in the Chick-fil-a parking lot, but my wife knows when I turned down our street and that's with the windows up! So, if you're an adult that enjoys some "thump" you will not be disappointed! If your parents still tell you to "Turn that racket down" as they BANG their broom above the basement (a.k.a. - your "rental"), it's not for you! Infinity is tried and true. I too was skeptical of a powered subwoofer! Believe me! But I am far beyond satisfied! Again, if you work 60+ hours a week, you'll appreciate the Basslink SM. I don't write too many reviews, but I hope the information I've provided is clear and geared towards music enthusiasts at both ends of the spectrum. Sorry if your offended, but thanks for reading!
Pros: Sound Ease of Installation Customer Service (Crutchfield)
This unit is fairly easy to install. Attention must be paid on the selection of the remote wire connection to the head unit. Otherwise piece of cake. I have a small car and the unit fits great under the passenger seat. The sound level is really nice without being too much. I find jazz to be the perfect music to listen to on this setup. I use a Kenwood 22 watt RMS x 4 head unit. and 4 really good Polk audio speakers all of which came from Crutchfield. Bottom line the instructions could be much clearer if they added a connection diagram. 4 out of 5 for me
Pros: Easy to adjust and add to existing stereo.
Cons: Instructions suffer from lack of connection diagram. leading to guessing. or trial and error.
my truck sounds awesome I'm happy
I loved the unit but was not enough bass for me. Sadly I returned it and got a bigger subwoofer yet I would recommend it to anyone that needs low to mid level bass.
I installed this unit under the rear seat in my Chevy Silverado. I'm amazed at the difference this made in the sound experience inside my truck. The install was very easy and the only thing that bugs me is that I should have done this sooner.
Pros: For me it was a simple install and the sound is amazing.
Installed the Basslink SM under the driver's seat to regain usable space in my 2012 Focus HB. I had been running an amp under the driver's seat and a separate sub in the rear hatch area. My first sub was an 8" Infinity in a sealed wedge-type enclosure. It was clean, tight, and punchy on the low end but took up a lot of room. I "upgraded" to a Pioneer sub that lays flat, allowing me to place groceries, etc. on top of it. It sounds OK, but the bass is flabby, not well-defined like the Infinity. Several reviewers felt the Basslink SM didn't produce enough output. I hoped that locating it in the passenger area would help make up for its lower output. I'm not looking to wake the neighbors, I want balanced, natural sound where I hear and feel the music as it was recorded. Getting rid of grating mid-bass boominess was a challenge with my previous subs, but with patience I was able to get them sounding clean and punchy by reducing the bass output on the factory radio by 2-3 clicks and adjusting the amp's Crossover, Gain and Bass Boost controls while listening to a wide range of music. This approach did not work with the Basslink SM, however, because I could not get enough gain out of the amp to compensate for turning down the radio's bass output. YMMV, depending on placement/mounting location and considerations like an aftermarket radio with EQ controls and dedicated subwoofer output (more tuning options).
Pros: Small, fits easily under seat
Cons: Unable to get clean, punchy, bass in my application
Bought this for my Nissan Titan (Quadcab) and installed under drivers seat and got amazing results. With that said, I do have an aftermarket Kenwood head unit so that may have some bearing on its strong performance. It provides all the low end I need/wanted. I did have to get some help tweaking the settings on the unit itself since I'm no audio expert, and those adjustments did make a noticeable difference. I'm extremely pleased with the performance and footprint of the unit.
Pros: Great performance for the price and size just the right level of bass for me excellent sound quality
Cons: Needed help tweaking/adjusting settings won't rattle the windows (if that's what you're looking for)
Just that little bit extra bottom end that my system needed. It has nice controls, adjustable crossover especially. I like it a lot.
Was a little disappointed but have to take into consideration it's size and therefor it's limitations. It's installed underneath my driver's seat in my truck and just not what I was looking for. I will continue to test drive it but so far unable to get the tight bass that I was looking for.
Pros: Build Quality and Design
Cons: Not enough.
Well, I read several reviews for the infinity Basslink. I should have taken them more literally. I.e. Reviews all suggested the product was best suited as a light supplement to your system rather that a strong sub-woofer component. The sounds from the basslink are good quality just not much volume. My intent was to install it in the trunk and drop the back seats which open into the trunk. I temp hooked it up spent hour or so adjusting the controls . Just could not get enough volume to really discern it's presents from sitting in front seat. so if you want strong bass try something else. I hate to return products but I made request from Crutchfield to return the item, printed the return label sent it back. Got refund promptly. Today's retailers don't understand customer service. Crutchfield does. They have earned my future business. Kudos. Boat sounds are next up. I see Crutchfield has the products I want. Thanks for making me happy!
Pros: Small and compact attractive style.
Cons: Very low volume output.
Great overall speaker. Love the distinction and got pretty good bass for just a small area.
Pros: I haven't run into any problems with this product yet.
Great product, was easy to install into my forester with upgraded head unit, really added a decent amount of extra bass to my upgraded speakers!
Does a great job filling in what was missing in my JBL door speakers. Not over powering. Nice for the small space that I have and easy to setup.
Pros: Fits the small space that I have with good bottom end.
Just installed this and am so far very impressed. It doesn't blow the windows out, but does put out a good amount of bass. I wasn't looking for something to stop hearts. It is very comparable to the Bose system in our 2012 Yukon. That's what I wanted.
Pros: Ease of installation, amount of bass output for not a lot of money.
Cons: None yet
Works perfectly mounted behind a single cab bench seat. I layed dynamat down behind it and it makes great noise with very low rattle. It does not produce a crazy amount of bass, but is ideal for small compact cars or trucks that don't need a lot.
Pros: Very Slim design, good sound, and easy install.
Cons: A little too pricey
Quick backstory: I have a convertible vehicle with a bone stock audio system that actually sounds pretty fine on it's own, but it lacks my oh-so needed and totally required "boom boom" (bass). In this limit spaced car I needed something fairly inexpensive, reliable, and good quality. After about 2 weeks of research, I came down between the JBL Shallowmount and the Infinity Shallowmount. Honestly, I've went with the Infinity because I've bought subs and speakers from them in the past. Personal opinion and use: It's no "regular" Infinity Basslink, and definitely won't wake the neighbors up, but it still shakes the mirrors and gives me a back massage... And that oh-so needed oomph that was lacking. Being in a 2 seater, I put it behind my seat and lifted it up using one of the foam pieces the sub came with. Hasn't moved since and fills more of the cabin space with sound being raised up. I feel with it being under a seat, one wouldn't be experience it's true finesse. For the most part it's loud and rumbling, but I feel that it would sound better if connected to a separate amp and possibly a better head unit.
Pros: Sounds fantastic Fits practically anywhere Takes up no space Very easy installation Lots of potential features "Audio-sense", "Bass controllers", etc. Another reliable piece from infinity, especially for the price.
Cons: It just doesn't rattle your brain. Would only recommend if you want to save space or have limited space.
just what was needed to complete the sound in a porsche 928 hatchback.......not too gangsta but just enough to rock the body.....
Pros: ease of install, fits multiple areas. reasonable price.
Cons: remote switch not included.......may not really be needed though....
Mounted perfectly under the backseat of my truck, gives the perfect amount of bass, very nice, clean, well made, space saving unit out there. Infinity never fails in quality and performance.
Pros: Great sound, space saving, and affordable.
Received my infinity soundlink for Christmas and hooked it up asap. Looked great and I had huge expectations for it. I was super excited to hear a nice thump from it. When I first turned it on I knew there was something wrong though, I could hear a nasty rattle in the internals of the bass link sm. Though hearing that rattle I can still feel and hear the bass coming from this little thing. Great looking product wish it sounded as good as it looks. Maybe mine was broken. Crutchfield helped me with an exchange right away for a kicker 10 comp though. It wouldn't hurt to try this sub if your in love!
Pros: Looks.. Versatility
Cons: Soft bass , don't expect much from this 8. Rattle
Big sound in a small package! This fit perfectly in the rear cargo area of my Magnum, and once I got the sound levels dialed in it pushes out the perfect amount of bass. I previously had the original Infinity BassLink but wanted something that I could put ou of the way and didn't take up as much space...this fit the bill perfectly, and puts out great sound.
Pros: Size, sound
Cons: Nothing yet...

I had an infinity bass link in a previous vehicle, I have a new truck with a small space so I went with the infinity basslink sm, I chose this product because the quality and performance of the infinity line has blown me away, so I stick with what works. [ Corey Dec 26, 2015 ]
I'm not positive but you might be able to get a splinter for both amps in out to one control knob out there are a sort of old school phone line connectors but they do have independent bass control on each what I did was turn it up 3/4 and I can adjust the level through my head unit that would be the best way to control both at the same time use your bass output control on the head unit [ Paxton Jan 05, 2018 ]
I can not answer that without seeing a schematic. [ WADE Jan 05, 2018 ]
I put 1 in my small truck and I'm not impressed at all. It isn't loud and has very little bass. I would recommend getting a kicker or a Rockford Fosgate. [ C Dec 06, 2016 ]

I bought 2 basslink SM .I installed one in the trunk of my Lexus LS460,I ran power from the battery to it and tap into the rear speaker wires for audio signal. It works perfect. I installed one in my 2013 Prius 2, I am connected straight to battery also and tapping into rear speaker wires for audio signal. it works perfect also. [ stanley Sep 30, 2016 ]

Yes you can that is how mine is hooked up on a classic looking radio. [ DERRICK J Apr 26, 2016 ]
Yes. It works well splicing it into the high level inputs. There may be alternator interference if you run the power wires more than 12" in length with the speaker wires. Make sure you splice the positive and negative from both right and left to get the best base response. Have fun! [ ELLIOT L Apr 26, 2016 ]
No. You need to use pre amp rca jacks from your deck straight to the bass link. [ JEREMY Apr 25, 2016 ]
Yes. [ Anthony Apr 25, 2016 ]
Yes, that's how I hooked mine up. I drive a 2016 Mazda Miata MX-5 Sport base and it's pretty much impossible to remove the head unit, but I was able to easily remove the door and wire the sub directly to the speaker wires. [ Marcus Apr 25, 2016 ]

It does not. The manual does state that it is compatible with "RBC Remote Bass Controller" so you can get one for it. [ Paul Nov 26, 2015 ] Staff
If you are asking if it would fit under one of the front seats, I'm sure it would as it fit under the drivers seat of my WRX. I can't be sure If it would provide sufficient bass for that vehicle. It does an outstanding job in my little car. [ Christian Nov 17, 2015 ]
