Very nice for the price
Lets get this straight. You get what you pay for. This is a middle grade product. It's as simple as 12v in and a ground. Regulate the amperage and voltage and you should have healthy sound. If you don't and you bridge your connections you're prone to quality loss. That's theory and fact. Personally I had this amp for 6-12 months driving a kappa 10" and a ported box. It was loud and clear until something in my trunk rubbed my sub tearing the gasket. Resealed it and traded up to a closed, caged, and beefy jl 12w6v2. plenty of power for both subs and sounded great. A lot of people have had heat issues. I never personally had issues, but that doesn't mean you'll never have a bad egg. I build pc's and while my cpu runs 20 degrees cooler than most of the exact build, it doesn't mean anything when it comes to electronics that are mass produced.
Cons: Lower quality.
Looks nice sounds nice has cool blue lights nice and easy connections would recommend.
Pros: Sleek Powerful Good connections
Cons: A little a on the larger side
this thing is a piece of junk, i always liked infinity products, but this one flipped my opinion. i had it on a 2 ohm load, soon as i turned it up, it would just cut out. this happened in the first hour of operation, one song at first, then all. the unit was also an absolute pain to install and is twice the size of other comperable amps. it was also very difficult to "tune". i am an electrician by trade, my electrical system is very beefy, the voltages and amperages were well within the amps claimed operating perameters and still it would just cut out. sorry infinity, but you got some work to do.
Pros: looks really cool.... thats it.
Cons: piece of junk
amp kept over heating, cutting off, etc...
This amplifier I use to power 2 300W JL Audio Subwoofers and let me tell you this thing is impressive. Just watch out it draws a lot of power! Make sure you have a capacitor or extra battery nearby if you plan on pushing this thing to peak. With the internal fans, even after hours of being at or near RMS, this amplifier does not cut out, get softer or anything. To hookup, they give you two positive terminals to make a dual subwoofer setup easy. Just note that behind the connector the two positive and two negatives are connected. They are not separate channels. Also the pre-amp outputs make chaining amplifiers together much simpler. I may buy another, and not having to run more wires keeps me pleased. For the price this is the amplifier for you!
When you buy any subs to their max watts in-between the what the amps does equal amount of feedback from the subs handle in the circuit board sending a circuit holds the amps juice back from letting the sub work like it should to prevent the sub from blowing and over heating your amp
i have to say i've had two mtx amps in the past and this amp just blows them away. i have it powering a kappa perfect 12vq sub and it does it easily. you can run it hard for a long time and it stays cool the entire time. the only thing about this amp that actually confused me is that it has outputs for two subs, like two channels, but the book they give you doesnt tell you how much each of them suppplies when both used. just what it can do in a mono hookup. o well, still an amazing amp!
Recently bought this amp, and have it hooked up to a single Rockford Fostage Power Stage 1 10'' sub (600 rms at 2 ohms.) Handles it with zero problem...after continuous use, it barely gets warm. The blue light looks really cool too.
This is a fantastic Amp. I have it running to two Rockford Fosgate Punch1 12's and it does the trick ! very easy install, and looks really cool when the blue lights up when power is supplied to it.
This is the best amp I have ever owned. I am planning to buy at least two more infinity amps.

CEA-2006 Compliant: CEA-2006 is a new system of testing and measurement methods for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for determining an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured into a 4-ohm load, with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) plus noise, and at a frequency range of 20 Hz to 200 Hz, when applicable. Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4 ohms. CEA-2006 allows consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers on an equal basis. The Infinity Reference 1600a under CEA-2006 regulations is rated at 400 Watts RMS x 1 channel with a 80dBA signal to noise ratio.
Mono-Power Amp Design: The Infinity Reference 1600a is designed with specific features to power your subwoofers with a frequency range between 11-330 Hz. This amplifier is not designed to power a full-range speaker.
Class D Design: The Infinity Reference 1600a is equipped with a high-performance Class D switching power supply, which is more efficient than traditional class AB power supplies, and draws less current from your vehicle's charging system.
Protection Circuitry: The amp features 4-way protection, and will shut itself down in the following cases:
Power and Protection LEDs: The amplifier features a Power and Protection LED on top of the unit. The Power LED illuminates Green when the amplifier is supplied power. The Protection LED will illuminate Red when the amplifier goes into protect-mode.
Input Level: Rotary control to match the level of the preamp input signal.
Low Pass Filter: The 1600a has a variable 12dB per octave, 32-320Hz low pass filter to prevent unwanted high-frequencies from reaching your subwoofers so they can play deeper and louder.
Bass Boost: The Bass Boost control allows you to enhance the bass output of your system at 50Hz up to 6dB.
Preamp Output: 1 pair of gold-plated RCA jacks (amp provides a non-filtered signal for daisy-chaining additional amplifiers).
Preamp Input: 1 pair of gold-plated RCA jacks.
Remote Level Control: RJ-11 jack for use with the optional remote sub-level control (sold separately).
IMS Input: This port is designed for future Infinity expansion products.
Speaker Output: 4 Set screw terminals for connecting speaker wires; handles up to 8 gauge (16 gauge minimum recommended).
Note: There are two sets of terminals to make it easier to connect multiple subwoofers. The terminals are connected internally in parallel.
Fuses: 3 Slots for 25A fuses (installed).
