These give off a great sound with a fairly simple installation. Minor mods to the door panel to fit snug but nothing drastic.

Pros: Fit perfect with dust covers off. Bolt right up.

Cons: Dust covers wont fit unless you cut into the door panel or the dust cover itself.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers sound great, even though they look very basic. A huge improvement over the stock speakers. Enough clarity to make me smile and want to relisten to all my music. I would give it 5 stars but the installation instructions were all but useless.

Pros: Great sound. Noticeable improvement! The adapters are totally worth it. I've bought speakers from Crutchfield for my previous car.

Cons: None of the included brackets fit which was very frustrating. I figured out a workaround. No adapters for the tweeters so I spliced the wires and insulated with electrical tape. I spent two ours on the first door trying to figure it out. The second door only took an hour since I knew what I had to do.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

2007 Yukon with a decent enough factory Bose system. I recently replaced the head unit with a Pioneer NEX-4100. I replaced fronts with these components and the rears with the coax version. I couldn't be happier. Sound is crisp and clean and the bass has more punch. Install was simple and Crutchfield support (pre and post purchase) was great as always.

Pros: Sharp sound; Cost!!

Cons: None so far

I've always upgraded with Infinity's Reference line in my vehicles because the way sound. If your searching for clean, smooth and dynamic sound that doesn't hurt your ears with volume, the Infinity's are the choice. Other brands try to create this quality of sound, but few can match it.

Pros: Clean, smooth and dynamic

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've only had these speakers in for about a week and I only have them running on factory deck power until my dash kit comes in for my alpine setup. Big improvement over stock by far and they aren't even broken in yet. Once I have my alpine deck in running them off an amp I know they will be even better by a long ways. Great crisp highs with good mid bass.

Pros: Nice quality. Great sound even on stock deck power. Good mid with crisp highs.

Cons: Only down side is these speakers don't come with any wiring or connectors. I had to go to the local audio shop and get all that.

Perfect with ampless car recievers

Jim from medina, TN on 3/10/2016

Wanted full detail "Natural" sound without external amp. Bought from Crutchfield a Clarion CX305 that outputs 22 watts RMS AND a pair of Polk db651S But this was not a good match. After a second look I chose the Infinity-reference-x-ref-6500cx and this was a Perfect marriage with the CLARION CX305. Wow I Love This Component Speaker Set. The high roll design gives a similar response to the OEM camry speakers but of course better quality and has a much higher power handling rating. Also the lower impedence design helps in the BASS response too. Treble Is Clear And Natural. I Also Intend To Purchase The Lower Cost Infinity Coaxials Too, I Have Always Loved Polk But These Are Better In My Install. Also, great service, great returns, and good advice. Enjoyed dealing with my salesperson.

Pros: High quality open sound that can be used with factory receiver, new receiver with or with out external amp.. Great soundstaging.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in the front doors of my 2012 GMC Sierra Crew Cab with Infinity 6032cf in the rear doors. Installed the tweeters in the sail panels. Front tweeters are set at +0db. The rears are set at +3db. Super clear low, mid, and highs! Day and night difference compared to my factory speakers. I am still running my factory non-Bose receiver. I was a little lazy at first, and decided not to remove the A-pillar panels to unhook the factory tweeters. When I finally decided I needed to unplug the factory tweeters, I was even happier! The factory speakers are so muddled. Super happy with the sound of the speaker combo I chose!

Pros: SUPER CLEAR lows, mids, and highs!

Cons: None. They get better the more I play them!

Replace my stock speakers in my 2013 gmc truck and it was a big improvement. Stock speakers were lacking any bass and did not have a good sound. Installed these in the front and another set in the rear doors, great improvement

Pros: Great sound, works good without amplifier

Cons: Not sure if it is the speakers or the fact that my car has an amp for the door speakers but the Kicker speakers I installed in the car have more bass. These are not bad just not as good

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put these in the front door panels of my Honda Civic, it's a night and day difference. I have owned many different versions of infinity products and they are by far musical perfection. I have not added any external amp there powered solely by the navigation system that can stuck with my Honda Civic. The crossovers make these things the most fantastic component set that you could ever put into a car for under 300 bucks. Do you only problem, now I have to buy a set for the rear of the vehicle. I'm looking forward to hearing what it sounds like the whole car full of them

Pros: Rich, clear, precise musical perfection.

Cons: Now I want another pair.

Great stock speaker replacement

2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STi
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace the front door speakers and tweeters in a Subaru Impreza STi. They fit great, the tweeter fit within the stock mount with a little bracket work, crossover fit in the door handle void. Bass is solid, vocals are clear, they really do the music justice. I still had stocks in rear door and the lower impedance of these speakers made them much louder at same setting over stock. I ended up replacing rears with 2-way Infinity's and I may actually have enough bass to not feel the need to put in a sub - been there, done that and just prefer not to give up any cargo space. I will likely replace head unit down the road though. These are great speakers, I love the warm tones Infinity's make and have owned several. I did install them using the stock mounts with the Infinity interface mount included with the speakers.

Pros: Great speakers, solid bass, clear highs, easy installation

Cons: None.

Eddie K. from New Hampshire on 7/30/2015

I purchased these to replace the factory components in the front of an 07 CRV with factory nav. I liked the idea of the 3 ohm speaker to maximize the sound of my factory head unit. What a difference from the factory speakers. These are so much clearer. I'm hearing things in music that I never knew were there and I can listen to them for long periods of time without fatigue. Great investment.

Pros: Clean and detailed sound.

Cons: None

2001 Chevrolet Impala
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers went into my 2001 Impala with an aftermarket amp. The difference is incredible. Using these as mid and high drivers crossed over at 100Hz and letting subs handle the bass. These are super bright, though I don't have much to compare to with current component sets. I feel it's better to have the brightness and kick it back a little on EQ rather than boosting. They also produce the lower mids that I was looking for rather well. Woofers were direct fit with 2001 impala door woofer location. Tweeters are surface mounted on side view mirror trim. I'm pushing the lower side of the RMS rated power to them and I'm super impressed. Can't imagine needing any more power. Alpine head unit at 10 for same listening level as 20 with factory amp and speakers. If you're looking for BIG bass from door speakers I don't know if these are for you but they do provide a tight full bass sound running them full range. I'm just spoiled with two infinity twelves in the back. These haven't broken up or distorted yet and I think my ears would bleed before they do.

Pros: Super clean and clear. Tight, focused sound. Easy install.

Cons: None so far.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Crutchfield advisor made the perfect recommendation for me based on my needs, and I called tech support for a question regarding wiring. My total experience was awesome, although I did have to look up speaker wire colors on Google and It should have had an extra set of wiring connectors since I was replacing 6 speakers. I had to come up with my own connectors for the tweeters which I had, but had I called Crutchfield with my concerns, I feel confident they would have sent the extra connectors. I would have given 5 stars had the wire color info been included. I will still buy from them again.

Pros: Awesome sound, perfect recommendation, helpful customer support.

Cons: Stock speaker wire colors could have been included. Not enough wiring connectors based on what I bought.

The speakers sound great!

Pros: Big improvement on sound from my stock system in 2007 Volvo XC70. Very good bass and just a clearer sound all around.

Cons: Crutchfield could have done a better job supplying instructions with the purchase. Infinity only had some very basic instructions and it would have been nice to have some specific tips included about my particular car. There help via the 1-800 number was good.

Very good speakers

2006 Outback from Michigan on 3/24/2015

2006 Subaru Outback
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These installed relatively easily in the front doors of a 2006 Subaru Outback (had factory component speakers). The tweeters fit right into the factory brackets, the woofers needed one additional hole drilled for the brackets, and the crossovers nestled nicely just forward of the door pull--there's a good open space there, although I couldn't get all four mounting screws in due to access openings in the metal. No matter; two screws did the job solidly. The space isn't completely identical on both sides, but there's definitely room in each door. The factory wiring diagrams in the Haynes manual and in the Crutchfield database didn't match what was in the doors (they didn't match each other, either). The solution is that the twisted pair of wires is the input to use for the crossover, and then you just bypass the wires going from the tweeter to the woofer. Tape the old harnesses back out of the way and be happy. They sound terrific, a huge improvement. I added a pair of Infinity Reference X REF-6502ix in the rear doors at the same time. Together, they give great balance, clarity, and presence. We're happy enough with the bass, but any speaker is going to sound different from vehicle to vehicle. If you want real thump, add an amp.

Pros: Fairly straightforward installation and sound great.

Cons: Bass isn't tremendously strong.

These speakers are great! I have a JL amp running 150 Watts RMS to a pair of these speakers and the sound is amazing. In addition these speakers come with so many mounting pieces, you really have a lot of options. If you've ever tried to put a tweeter right where you wanted it, you will know what i'm talking about. I have a '09 Tacoma and these speakers fit in the front door nicely.

Pros: Great Sound! Many Mounting Options!

Cons: Instructions could be clearer.

Put two sets of these in a 09 F150 Crew. Powering them off stock HU and they sound great. Did require speaker adapters and drilling into sail panel to install tweeters. Well worth the money. Big difference over stock speakers. With an amp I'm sure these speakers will sound even better.

Pros: Good quality. +3db button on crossover. Small tweeter produces clean highs. Many mounting options for tweeters. Comes with small plastic logos that attach to factory speaker grills.

Cons: No speaker wire included to attach speakers to crossover.

1998 Toyota Tacoma
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently put these speakers in my 1998 Toyota Tacoma. After breaking them in a bit I must say that they are superb, especially given the reasonable price. There is very little discernible difference from my friends $500 dollar component speakers. Trebles and Mids are brilliant, and the base is sufficient. Overall it is very balanced, but to get the umph you need to fill certain genres you may need to add a sub. I was hesitant about the smaller tweeter at first, but it does the job well. This is my first Infinity speaker, and I am very satisfied. I did put a sheet of Dynamat extreme behind the speaker, and it does make a noticeable difference. It is worth the $25 dollars to get the speaker kit. These speakers are extremely universal! Included in the box are an astounding number of options for both custom and stock mountings. I have never seen this in a component system before, and it was a pleasant surprise. Lots of hardware was also provided. A note of warning though- you may want to get a set of female spade connectors to connect to the tweeters. I just used a butt end clip, but had to cut off a pair of nice spade connectors. As always, Crutchfield was a pleasant experience. This is the forth time I have ordered from them, and have yet to encounter any issues. Delivery is always prompt, free, and packaged well. I will be coming back here for all my future needs.

Pros: Very balanced Superb sound quality Great value for the price range

Cons: Lack of female spade clips in installation kit. Installation directions provided by Infinity are rather vague.

It all ended okay, but the kit does not come with interconnect wires between crossovers and drivers. Crutchfield did not notify me of this at the time of purchase (by telephone). Cons: Incomplete installation kit

Awesome upgrade for stock radios

John from San Diego, CA on 1/12/2013

2008 Saturn Astra
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very nice set of speakers. I installed these in my 2008 Astra and they fit perfectly. The tweeters fit perfectly in place of my stock ones and the bracket that Infinity supplied for the woofers fit my stock screw holes exactly. The improvement in the clarity of the sound is what really stands out in these speakers, I listen to a full range of music types and there nothing I've thrown at these tweeters that has caused them to crackle or become flat. You can hear everyone of the different high notes. As for the woofers they are a massive improvement over my stock component woofers, they really make the most of the meager bass output of my stock HU. With that being said I had also ordered an amp to connect to these speakers and decided to return it upon hearing how much louder and fuller these speakers make my stock radio. I highly suggest you buy the 10"x10" sheets of dynamat to surround your woofers because if your doors don't rattle before you install these they sure will after. I matched these with the Reference 4000 series 4" speakers in my rear doors (Opel decided to put the larger speakers up front?) they play very well off of each other. Overall extremely satisfied

Pros: Huge improvement over stock speakers These will make the most out of the small amount of power that a stock HU puts out, for those of us who don't feel the need to install an amp

Cons: Like most automotive work there was some swearing and cut fingers, but the sound improvements are worth it No extras of any of the installation hardware, not necessarily a con, just something to remember so you don't end up crazy gluing your tweeters together like this guy.

Cons: Depends on your make and model you may need speaker brackets.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

i replaced my factory speakers in both the doors and behind the seat with these and they sound amazing even with my factory head unit. i put them into a 6x9 opening and they fit with just slight trimming which was because of the tweeter going into the top part of the adapter bracket they supply.

Pros: they fit well with the supplied bracket with a small bit of trimming. they sound great with my factory head unit. the deal i got on them was great.

Cons: i didnt care for the way the tweeter was mounted. they did offer two options and i liked how one of them was movable so you could aim the tweeter however if you were to surface mount these they wouldnt look good in my opinion. that being said i mounted them behind the door panel so it isnt seen and isnt a huge deal

Brad from san diego on 12/11/2012

I put these in my 2008 suburban and powered them with a 800 wat Kenwood amp. They are by far the best sounding speakers I have had in any of my vehicles. The bass is deep and can be felt. The highs are clean and sharp. I found that I no longer have to increase the volume to hear all the details of the music. These things sound great at any volume level. They are a great value for the price.

Great Affordable Speakers

New VW Beetle '99 from Harbor City, CA on 8/27/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers sound great and were easy to install. Only basic tools and moderate handyman skills needed. My only complaint is that neither the Crutchfield nor the Infinity instructions and pictures were very clear so it took me awhile to figure out how to attach the speakers with the brackets and ensure they would not produce a vibrating sound. Also, I did not change out my factory tweeters because they did not include a wiring harness for the tweeters like they did for the 6 3/4 speakers. I do not want to add tweeters anywhere else since there is factory wiring for the tweeters but I also don't want to have to cut the wiring harness off the old tweeters since they are still good. The wiring harness they did include for the 6 3/4" speakers worked great except the smaller connector does not fit snuggly so you have to bend the contacts on the connector to give it a tight connection.

Pros: Sounds good. Easy to install.

Cons: No wiring harness for tweeters. Instructions/Pictures not detailed enough.

Plus One+ Cones: Each woofer uses a cone significantly larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a new basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and a significant increase in efficiency.

Hi-roll Rubber Surrounds: The hi-roll rubber surrounds allow the woofers a greater range of movement, resulting in longer X-max and more bass output.

Mounting: Without an adapter, the 6500cx woofers fit standard 6-3/4" applications. Given their required cutout, they will also fit standard 3-hole 6-1/2" and 4-hole 6-1/2" applications without an adapter, but new screw holes must be drilled. Using the included adapter brackets they can be mounted in a wide variety of 6-1/2" and 6-3/4" applications, without any modification.

Material: Each tweeter features a 3/4" edge-driven textile dome for smooth, accurate highs.

Mounting: The I-Mount tweeter mounting system and Starfish mounting brackets give you several different ways to mount the tweeters:

  • I-Mount Mounting System: The tweeters can be surface- or flush-mounted with Infinity's innovative I-Mount system:
    • Surface Mount: Surface mounting the tweeters involves screwing the surface-mount cup to the mounting location, then inserting and locking the tweeter into the cup.
    • Flush Mount: Flush mounting is made easy through the use of the threaded flush-mount housing and plastic locking nut. Once a cutout is made, the tweeter is installed in the flush-mount adapter, then into the flush mount housing and inserted into the hole. The large plastic locking nut is threaded onto the adapter (from behind the mounting surface) to hold the complete assembly securely in place. When flush mounted, the tweeters may be angled for optimum response and imaging.
  • Starfish Mounting Brackets: The Starfish mounting brackets allow the tweeters to be installed in factory locations behind the grilles:
    • Bottom Mount: Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is secured to the underside of the grille panel. The tweeter must be inserted into the bracket and locked into place before the bracket is mounted.
    • Surface Mount: Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is screwed to the top of the mounting surface behind the grille panel. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.
    • Flush Mount: There are two sets of tabs to flush mount the tweeter in the Starfish bracket, yielding different mounting dimensions. The upper tabs mount the tweeter completely below the opening and are glued in place. The lower mounting tabs are screwed in place and result in a mounting height just under a half inch. Once the bracket is mounted, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.

Selectable Tweeter Output Level: Each 2-way crossover allows you to select the tweeter output level according to system requirements and personal preference; the tweeter level can be set to +3 dB or 0 dB.

Connections: The crossover inputs and outputs are screw terminals; they will accommodate bare wire or spade connectors up to 0.315" wide. There are four mounting holes in each crossover.

  • Width: 3.935"
  • Height: 1.209"

True Four Ohm Impedance Technology: The speaker's 3-ohm impedance combined with the impedance of your speaker wire provides a true 4-ohm load to your connected head unit or amplifier.

Power Handling: Although Infinity rates the 6500cx speakers at 90 watts RMS (continuous average), they also recommend amplifiers with a power rating from 5 to 200 watts RMS.
