There's a reason why our customers choose to upgrade with Infinity, year after year, car after car. The Reference Series REF-6522EX 6-1/2" speakers exemplify Infinity's mission of providing excellent sound at a competitive price. A textile dome tweeter makes your music's high frequencies clearer and smoother than ever.
Infinity maximizes low-frequency performance with its unique Plus One+ woofer design, which.gives this speaker a significantly larger cone than speakers of similar size. Infinity employs a tough polypropylene woofer and durable hi-roll rubber surround that deliver, time and time again, in spite of the harsh conditions life in a car door entails.
These speakers will really blossom when powered by an external amplifier, but they're also sensitive enough to be a good match for a factory or aftermarket stereo. Plus, Infinity comes up with a safe way to get a little more power out of your system — these 3-ohm speakers combine with the speaker wire in your car so your car stereo sees actual 4-ohm impedance. Grilles are included.

Average Customer Review(s):
Fits perfectly in Jeep Wrangler Sound Bar!
These are actually a good sounding speaker for coaxials. I just prefer components & will upgrade in the future. But I was impressed for price & sound quality. I think they are a good replacement for factory speakers if your just wanting a average good sounding system.
Pros: Sound good. Good price.
Ordered based off of excellent reviews and they were back ordered, glad i ordered because they far exceeded my expectations. Speakers have clear highs and wonderful mids and lows are surprisingly punchy. I installed them in a 2016 Ford Transit i Drive for work and they really have improved the drive, only issue i had was i had to get a proper seal of speaker to door metal to get lows to sound punchy.
Pros: Best speakers at this Pricepoint PERIOD
Cons: Make sure speakers are sealed to door metal for better Lows
Great sound .Easy installation easy
The Infinity Reference REF-6522EX were installed on a 2014 Honda Ridgeline as a replacement for the original front speakers. OEM head unit used. Build quality is very good. Hi and mid range is excellent. Decent bass for what the speaker is designed to be.
Pros: Hi and mid range is excellent. Quality construction and finish.
Cons: So, so bass.
OMG!!!! I didn't know what I was missing until I switched to these speakers. Installed in a 2003 G35 coupe replacing the front Bose speakers. Great sound through low, mid, and high ranges. I wish I bought these before I bought my kicker speakers for my other vehicles. Infinity definitely has my attention and has gained a happy customer!!!!
Pros: Great sound through lows, mids, highs!!!
Cons: Customers don't know about these speakers from the beginning
Definitely an upgrade from factory! The speakers look so nice that I hate to have them hidden behind a door panel. I can hear more instrumentals and voice that weren't pronounced before, and I'd imagine if I tweaked the equilizer more, they'd have my little prius rocking that much better!
Pros: Attention to detail, sound, and quality.
Cons: The kit supplied may not hold the speakers in tight for long.
Sounds great at a great price. Bought 2 pairs to upgrade/replace factory speakers in a 2006 civic. Have a new head unit to install but can tell a HUGE difference just with the speaker upgrade.
Pros: Sound quality. Price. Ease of installation.
Cons: Didn't do it sooner
Deep, rich sound. Good bass.
Very nice speckers sounds grate.
The you tube video shows how to take the door apart. I had to use the old wiring connector. The new ones were too short. The top screw goes in and drill holes for the bottom. Sounds great!
Fits front doors of 2015 Ram 1500 Quad Cab perfectly. Removed Kicker DSC650's I put in a few months ago to replace factory speakers. Wasnt 100 % pleased with the Kickers after listening for a while. I had also heard the Polks that claim to fit and did not like them. Initially they were a bit improvement, I just needed better overall sound quality. These perform way better than I expected , Adam at Crutchfield was very helpful. he said there may be a fit issue thats with these are not on the list of speakers that fit in the Ram 1500. But they went in without a problem. **Crutchfield should add these to the list so people with the same truck as mine have them to choose from. Fantastic sounding speaker in every way
Pros: Great quailty sound, fuller and harder hitting bass than expected. Fantastic mid range and smooth highs. Just a A+ speaker all around.
Cons: none so far
If you're looking to replace stock speakers and not break the bank, these are worth every penny. I have an aftermarket stereo, so I am sure my sound quality is slightly enhanced by these as well. I recommend doing the rear speakers as well because that's when the sound quality came around. Kudos to max for responding quickly to my text message and providing the items in a shopping cart for me. Such an easy transaction and superior customer service!
Cons: Prongs for wire harness are weak and bend easily.
Great value! Infinity has never let me down.
I always get Infinity speakers. Great sound at a great price
Very nice sounding speakers; terrific improvement over original equipment ones in our new vehicle.
Pros: The speakers are a huge improvement and were very easy to install.
Cons: It would be nice if Infinity would provide written installation instructions.
Wow these things boom for speakers this size.
I replace my Honda Accord 2017 SE manufacturing speakers only with this and kept the head unit. The sound improvement is exceptional. The sound is clear and crisp. I also added an Infinity basslink and that just made the sound unbelievable good. Got an estimate for professional to install and I was told that it will cost about $2000 but did it only cost me under $300 to do it by myself with the help and support from the awesome Crutchfield customer/technical support. The installation instruction is 100% perfect, not too detail just contains perfect enough information. One of the minor issues I had was locating the center screw from the back sit.
A vast improvement over stock Jeep speakers. Easy installation
Great sound for the price. What I would expect from Infinity
Pros: Affordable and reliable
Installed in a 2006 Tundra. Good quality sound, especially mid and high range. Bass not any better than factory speakers, but more than adequate. I had to drill holes, but that is usually the case for any after market. It was not a difficult install since I have done numerous.
Great improvement over my factory Toyota speakers
Excellent product,100% improvement on the stock speakers, paired these with Infinity Reference 9622IX for the doors and Infinity Reference 3022cfx for the dash. It's like I have a brand new system.
Very good speakers. Do pick up the bass somewhat, but if you're looking for thump these aren't what you need. Great all around sound with wonderful midrange. They get very very loud and dont flinch. Would buy again.
Great speakers and easy to install
Pros: great sound
I do not have a high powered audio system in my vehicle, but I purchased these to upgrade my sound and knew that my 12 year old originals were probably rotting away. I was surprised that these speakers didn't sound as good as I expected. They are definitely a step up from the OEMs, but the difference is not big. These speakers do not handle low bass well, so you need to apply a HPF (high pass filter) if you have one in your Audio head. Rolling off the low bass on these speakers really cleans them off. I will need a small sub to fill in what I removed from the sound.
Pros: Polypropelene speaker cones, coaxial, internal crossover. Sound noticably better than the original speakers.
Cons: These speakers muddy up with low bass. I have to use a HPF to drop off the low bass, which cleans up the sound considerably. A small sub woofer will fill in what has been cut from these speakers.
I purchased a Pioneer deck and Infinity speakers to update the sound system in my 04 Cummins. Crutchfield is amazing. Their online chat helped me with my initial purchase, and then later with some tech questions. Everything came in the box with detailed, easy instructions. Honestly, it does not get much easier with their help. I was super impressed with the whole process.
Pros: Everything you need to install the product
Cons: None. Zero.
These speakers are so much better than stock. After install the sound was better, but if you want good/great, you need an amp. I just added an amp and the sound is amazing.
The 2-way reference speakers fit easily in my Honda Civic back behind the rear seat, but the sound using my factory Honda radio is not remarkable. The component version out-performs the 2-way speakers by a fairly significant margin. So these are good but not great with a factory radio and no amp.
Pros: Easy installation and good quality for the price
Cons: Component version of the Infinity Reference sounds a lot better
I bought these for my son birthday. They was easy to intall and sound awesome. If I ever need to get speakers again it will be these. Thank you to crutchfield for making the purchase easy and supplying everything I needed for the installation.
Pros: Great sound and easy installation
Sonny at Crutchfield recommended these speakers for my Toyota pickup and he was right on the money. The pair of these take listening to music in the truck to a new level. Great bass and overall sound. I couldn't be happier.
Pros: Very slim profile fit the small door well. Easy to follow instructions for taking the dash board out.
We really liked the sound reproduction these Speakers provided. Very crisp tones with a clean output. Pleasantly surprised with this purchase, Thanks again
You can't go wrong with Infinity. Clear, clean sound and easy install!
Pros: Top quality construction and material
Cons: None that I can speak of.
Got this in the mail very soon after I ordered which was great. I love listening to music and I always blast the speakers. These speakers make the bass sound phenomenal!!! My car shakes almost as if I had a subwoofer (Which I still plan on getting). Crutchfield sent me everything I needed to install them into my 2011 Hyundai Sonata which was great because it turned out I needed an adapter too, so thanks :)
Pros: Good bass, clear sound, easy installation, fast delivery.
I installed these into the rear doors on my 2010 Tacoma as part of a complete system overhaul. I also installed Dynamat to compliment the speakers in all doors. Detailed highs and mids. much more clarity than the stock JBL system. The speakers look sexy.
Pros: brought out the clarity in the midst and highs. Great quality for the price.
Cons: tweeter is not aimable, but doesn't seem to affect the clarity
Easy enough to install and the sound I was looking for. Replaced the factory speaks in an 03 Element, for sure an upgrade
Great upgrade coming from the factory speakers. I mainly listen to rock and metal, so the slight lack of bass does not hinder my listening enjoyment. Fantastic mids and highs and fit nicely in my 1999 Tacoma.
I really like these speakers, but, i need to play around with the settings on my headunit to get the sound just right. I listen to a lot of metal, and these guys are great for the highs, the lows seem to be lacking. They are claimed to not fit in my 93 Landcruiser, but using the 6 3/4 adapters i was able to space them out from the door just enough to get them to fit. My application requires shallow mount speakers, so choices were limited. I may end up needing to get a small sub, though I haven't decided yet. all in all these are a great product and i'm very happy with my purchase.
Pros: looks, fitment, quality, highs
Cons: lacking lows.
Hard to believe the clarity at the full range of frequencies!
In terms of acoustic quality, slim fit for my 2014 Mazda2 Sport, and 3 ohm impedance, this speakers earns 5 stars. I only gave it 4 stars in part because of the price and because I initially thought it had tweeters that could be redirected like the REF-6533ix. Nevertheless, no regrets as an upgrade from the essentially new OEM 6.5" woofer/whizzer rated at 4 ohm while keeping my OEM head unit. The rose gold finish on the tweeters is a nice touch.
Pros: 3 ohm efficiency on OEM head unit Slim fit for subcompact door Excellent sound
Cons: Price compared to 4 ohm 6.5" 2-way Tweeter is fixed; cannot be directed up
Big improvement from my OEM speakers!!!
Replaced the rear door speakers in mu 2015 Prius with these. I was expecting significantly better results for the price. Very little clarity at the high end with no discernible midrange (vocal). Distorts disproportionately with the front speakers.
Very clear and detaled for 2016 tacoma
Pros: All good
Great speakers I put this pair in the rear deck on my 90 Accord (speakers were blown) Works really well with my style of music (rock and metal) but have a feeling it could complement a lot of styles of music. I also change my stereo with a Pioneer MVH-X390BT and everything works wonderfully
I installed (2) of these in the front doors of my 06 tundra, using the factory head unit. They were recommended by Crutchfields online support. I had previously chosen some speakers that were half the price. I wish I had purchased the cheaper speakers. These are nothing special. Perhaps their qualities would be more apparent with a higher powered system. But for a factory system save your money. Also the speaker mount adapters sent by crutchfield do not match the holes on an 06 tundra double cab. I had to drill my own holes.
Cons: High price, not noteworthy quality
Really easy to install in my 2015 jeep wrangler. You can instantly hear the difference in the sound quality. they are also a little louder than the stock speakers and add more base.
It is amazing what you can do with a couple hundred dollars. The factory system in our crv was just silly garbage. Now simply add these alpine speakers to the factory head unit and surprise rock lives. In expensive great sound. Thank you Crutchfield. Thank you alpine. Remember to match the specs of the speaker to the head unit no distortion for me!
Pros: Nice response, clean highs and tight mid bass
Cons: They don't install themselves, and cost money.
really nice bass for the price although if you already have subs and are looking for more vocals not for you none the less amazing
Pros: great bass
Cons: gets a little distorted in the higher volume range
So far pretty good sound in my 2017 Tacoma Access Cab. Installation was pretty easy and fit with Crutchfield's brackets is solid. They are far better than the pair stock speakers that's for sure. Next move is to add an Amp to see if I can push them a bit harder.
Not what I expected. Good speakers, but not much better than my stock ones. Have a little more "highs" but distort much earlier than my old stock speakers.
Pros: Crisp highs
Cons: Distort before my stock speakers did.

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a cone significantly larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a unique basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and an increase in efficiency.
High-Output Design: The 3Ω voice coil design compensates for the high in-line resistance of small gauge factory wiring, extracting more power from factory (or aftermarket) receivers. This results in clearer, richer sound for the listener.
Mounting: Without an adapter, the 6522ix speakers fit standard 6-3/4" applications. Given their required cutout, they will also fit 6-1/2" applications without an adapter, but new screw holes must be drilled. Using the included adapter brackets they can be mounted in a variety of 6-1/2" and 6-3/4" applications, without any modification.

We found the speaker's mounting height requirement to be too tall to fit under the available clearance of the factory speaker grills. [ Ryan Dec 21, 2017 ] Staff
Well it depends if you have the upgraded infinity system in the RAM, if it is the basic non amplified infinity system in your truck, then the reference should be better than what you had, but if you power the reference speakers just from your radio, they may not appear to be as good as the ones that died in your truck, if you pair the reference with a nice little amplifier, something say around 50-75 watts you should be fine, I have a set that are two years old and i had them powered by a 75 w and had to dial the amp a bit back as it was a bit too much for them. If you have the cash to spend and can afford it, refitting your truck with the Infinity Kappa series and an amp powerful enough to push those speakers would be a definite upgrade over the infinities in your truck. I hope this helps a bit, I have Infinity Kappa Perfects in my jeep and they are amazing, but those are really expensive. [ Slurge Nov 25, 2017 ]
Are They are the same company that makes the speakers? Yes. But as to the exact and model that was in your truck I've no idea. I can say that my infinity car had the bose speakers in it and the infinity speakers i repllaced them with sounded better. If that helps you any! [ James Nov 24, 2017 ]
That's crazy I'm having the same issue, check the wires connected to your stereo [ Richard Nov 24, 2017 ]
it just goes into the system, pretty straight forward to get it plugged in. the hardest part about the level controller is finding a spot in your door to put the device in. once i found the spot for it, and figured out the best way to wire it, it was pretty straight forward.
