Unique port for compact design
The enclosure features JBL's unique Slipstream port, which offers shorter length with a wide-mouth opening that retains surface area. This design reduces port noise and distortion, allowing JBL to design a more compact enclosure for the hard-hitting subs. The 3/4" medium-density fiberboard construction offers strength and durability under extreme conditions, while the carpet covering and stylish aluminum grille help protect your investment.

Powerful bass from GT5 12" subs
Each JBL GT5 12" subwoofer brings the thunder with a polypropylene cone, hi-roll rubber surround, and I-beam basket design. Hook the GT5-2402BR to an appropriate amp and some wiring, and you'll be ready to roll with big-time bass.

Features

Overview: The JBL GT5-2402BR is a dual 12" preloaded enclosure with a Slipstream Port. The GT5-2402BR loaded enclosure features 3/4" medium-density-fiberboard (MDF) construction, high-quality binding-post terminals and dual 12" GT5 woofers. The GT5-2402BR features a wide-bandwidth design, which provides more output between 20Hz and 40Hz.

Dual 12" Subwoofers: The JBL GT5-2402BR features a two loaded GT5 12-inch, 4-ohm woofers wired in parallel for a 2-ohm load at the enclosure's speaker terminals. The JBL Grand Touring Series woofers feature polypropylene woofer cones with heavy-duty molded dustcaps. The woofers also feature rubber surrounds to provide exceptional cone-edge suspension and long-throw linearity with control and stability at the excursion limits. The GT5 woofers feature a progressive spider, which offers better control at the excursion limits. This progressive spider reduces distortion at high output levels. The GT5 woofers also feature a vented pole-piece which provides additional cooling to the woofer's motor structure, resulting in an increase in the subwoofer's thermal power-handling capability. The vented pole-piece and motor structure provide additional cooling. In combination with the rubber-coated tinsel leads, this results in much better long-term reliability. In addition, the GT woofers utilize dual-stacked oversized magnets which allows increased magnetic flux, resulting in higher efficiency and better woofer control. The JBL GT woofers feature a die-cast aluminum basket for added rigidity.

Hatchback Enclosure: The JBL GT5-2402BR's enclosure is made from 3/4" medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and is covered with black carpet. It has been perfectly tuned for the in-car environment so it is optimized for tight, powerful, and precise bass response. The GT5-2402BR is rated at 2-ohms at the enclosure's speaker terminals. The GT5-2402BR's is a hatchback style enclosure designed to fit in the trunk or cargo area of many hatchbacks, coupes, sedans, SUVs and vans.

Slipstream Port: The JBL GT5-2402BR provides superior performance thanks to its revolutionary Slipstream port located on the front of the enclosure. The double-flared shape of the oversized port is precisely calculated, efficiently eliminating port noise. Even at high SPL, airflow through the port will remain uniform, offering better low-frequency extension and woofer protection. This gradual change from high pressure to low pressure eliminates the audible distortion called "whacking." Because the area of the port in the middle is much smaller than the mouth of the port, the port can be much shorter than a cylindrical port with a surface area the same as the Slipstream port's mouth; this means it can fit into regular boxes. Stickiness outside the box is maximized by increasing pressure, and stickiness inside the port is minimized by reducing velocity. The benefit of this proprietary technology is more bass output with greatly reduced port noise and distortion.

Binding Post: The JBL GT5-2402BR features a pair of gold-plated binding posts which will accept dual-banana plugs on the right-hand side of the box (when facing front of box). The GT5-2402BR is rated at 2-ohms at the enclosure's speaker terminals.

Metal-Bar Grilles: The JBL GT5-2402BR features two Aluminum die-cast, metal-bar grilles (two metal bars covering each woofer) which looks great and offers a high level of woofer-cone protection.

Q
Will this fit behind my rear seats? 2012 Silverado Extended cab

A
Not that we found, no. There's very little space inside the cabin of your truck and this enclosure is rather large (35-3/16"W x 15-7/16"H x 14-3/8"D1 x 11-5/16"D2). I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5
