Crutchfield: JBL Synchros E-series headphones
From JBL: Share Me Function
Earcup buttons keep you in control of music and calls when you're listening wirelessly with the Synchros E40BT (shown in Red).
You don't have to spend a lot of money to get headphones with Bluetooth wireless connectivity and good sound. The JBL Synchros E40BT delivers both at an impressively low price. They're cleverly styled, well built, and offer JBL's legendary sound, with PureBass technology ensuring your music has plenty of low-frequency power. Stow your smartphone in your pocket and listen wirelessly, using the the earcup controls to play and pause music, adjust the volume, or even take a hands-free call with the built-in microphone.
The Synchros E40BT run on a built-in rechargeable battery, which provides up to 16 hours of use. If your battery runs down, you won't be stuck without music. Simply connect the included headphone cable and keep listening in wired mode. Then, use your computer or a USB AC charger to get your headphones charged up for more wireless use.
One pair of E40BT headphones is cool. Two pairs can do something really cool. You can stream music to another pair of headphones wirelessly using JBL's ShareMe™ technology. This allows two people to listen to the same song from the same source at the same time. You can share music with any two pairs of ShareMe compatible headphones.

NOT THE BEST FOR THE OPERATIC VOICE. JUST ACCEPTABLE .
Pros: PRETTY EVENLY BALANCED RANGE.
Cons: EXPECTED A LITTLE MORE UPPER RANGE VOCALLY FOR OPERAS.
love them they give me my quiet time on my computer
Pros: sounds good
Great headphones, sound is great and clear, Bluetooth is easy, very happy with my purchase.
In between 1-2 years of ownership in which I mostly use to talk on the phone with while driving, one ear no longer works. I bought these to be able to hear in both ears and now I'm back to one again.
Bought these to use with a noisy elliptical machine so that we could exercise and watch TV at the same time. They were easy to pair with our smart TV by following the directions in our TV user manual and seconded by a very helpful Crutchfield advisor who helped us pick them out. We have used them for two weeks, and they seem to work fine.
Pros: Easy to set up. Work as expected. Good value for the price.
Cons: None so far.
These might be very good headphones, but I'm afraid I will never know, because the user manual is nonexistent. All that is provided is a quick start brochure that is woefully inadequate. It doesn't even explain the controls well, and the link provided for a complete manual is a dead end. The online help was no help at all. 30 minutes spent trying to link with my smart tv was a complete waste. I remember when JBL was a name I trusted. No more.
Pros: I'll let you know, when I discover one.
Cons: Horrible documentationCrutchfield response on 2/21/2017 Once we saw this review, our Tech Support team reached out to Donald to issue an apology and help him further. We'll either help him get the headphones working the way they should, or help him return them for an exchange or refund. Also, to help save on costs and protect the environment, many products don't include an owner's manual in the box. Manufacturers either include it on a disc or send you to their website to download it. However, one of our tech support Advisors, Josh, takes the time to scan the manuals for products we carry, so you can access them right from our web site. The first item appearing in the "What's in the box?" section for a product on our site is a link to the owner's manual. You can view it in your browser or download it to your computer.
I am happen with the purchase, it is not very expensive, base sounds sufficient, it provides clear, full sound. Bluetooth is easy to set up.
Pros: Nice looking
Cons: Wish it can be folded a littler smaller.
Sound is great for the price. Comfortable to wear for hours. The articulating ear pieces help. Bluetooth synch was easy and flawless across multiple devices.
Great value easy set up.
I must be getting older, but the JBL's were not very comfortable for me no matter how I tried them on. I have a "normal"-sized head (S/M hat size) and the JBL's were quite tight. Maybe they will loosen up over time as others have mentioned. Since these are an "on the ear" design, the pressure on my ears would give me a headache after only a few minutes (yes - at low volume!). Sound quality, as others have written, is pretty good - especially when the price is considered. Considering I am the only one to have this issue, I'm afraid my ears just don't fit these. Just passing along my experience.
Pros: Sound, Price, lightweight
Was a presemt for my wife. She loved it, the sound and fit were both awesome. She loved the ability to go wireless or use the wires.
Pros: Fit, sound, option to use wires if wanted
I'll know more once Christmas day gets here as it a present for my son.
Great fit and size. good sound.
Pros: Good sound good fit quality feel
These headphones are comfortable, easy to pair, and have very good sound quality. Not top of the line, but a great value.
Pros: Priced Right. Comfortable. Easy to Pair.
Sounds nice..Daughter loves it
Pros: Price, sound
Cons: None at this time
Nice headphones. Good Sound but could use just a little more Bass. Nice design, fits well, comfortable.
Pros: Good value
Cons: Could use just a tad more Bass
This Bluetooth headset is amazing
These are my frist blue tooth head phones and i am like the sound . They are very light to thats a plus for me .
Pros: great sound .
A great buy for the price! These are my first wireless headphones and I'm very satisfied.
Pros: Light, good sound and long battery life.
I purchased these headphones because of the name. These are more for the sensitive ears (soft listeners). I got them mainly for the gym but had to return them after the 60 days because lack of bass which u need for that extra motivation while at the gym. I exchanged them for the AKG which I will review at a later date. I hope this little bit of info was helpful knowing that everyone rates by their experience.
Pros: Long battery life
Cons: Lack of bass and battery dies without any warnings
I bought these to replace my earbuds at times that I don't move as much. They work great and were a good price. Sometimes they seem to be difficult to connect with my phone but I'm getting past that little issue.
Pros: Light and good sound
Cons: Cheaper construction than expected,
Was Christmas gift purchased given to family it is enjoyed
Pros: Works really good
great head phones build quality coulb be a bit better ,first day a screw came off
a good set of headphones for a young adult. Good sound, easy set up, well built.
These are just about what I expected. The appearance and the sound quality are very much in line with the price I paid. The comfort level is somewhat low, but that also comes at more of a price. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase.
Pros: Appearance Easy to set up and use Sound quality good for price
Cons: Hurt ears after s while
Cool, comfortable, clarity, cost----the perfect 4 "C"s
Gift for my grandson.
Perfect for what I wanted.
Pros: Style and quality.
Wife loves her headphones good job JBL
Pros: Light weight good color choices
Cons: Nothing she can come up with
Very good headphones
I'm aways working outside and these headphones provide great sound for the price! !!!
Pros: Wireless and good battery life, haven't lost a connection yet
Cons: Kinda lacks on the bass
With the music only 1/4 to half volume they reduce the noise from the dyno at a Harley Davidson dealership, so I would say they are pretty good. Love the bass and the sounds in songs that I have not heard on a regular car stereo. Will be buying this again for the price they are awesome.
Pros: Easy connection to ipod and computer. Great sound quality. Good bass not too over the top pounding. Comfortable.
Cons: Hard to remember how many times to hit the button to go back or forward etc on playlist.
Great looking and sounding headphones (for the price) with a rather large caveat. Wanted to give them a better review but they only rreach their full potential when plugged in via included wire; I don't know if its just me but would have liked the audio jack to have been on the right cup. I use then for my 27" iMac who's audio port is on the right so the cord winds up resting across my chest and in the way of my mouse. Annoying but because cord is so light after a while I don't notice it. The reason for the llow review...the Bluetooth. What can I say, it's really lacking. Bought these as a cheap option for a wireless set of cans but very disappointed by the Bluetooth sound quality. Very flat and just has no punch. Leaves me using my "wireless" cans as corder headphones 90% of the time, which of course defeats the purpose of them being wireless. They do look great and the cups have a nice swivel capability that makes them very comfortable even when I'm wearing glasses. I honestly would have returned them because my intent was to purchase a cheap decent WIRELESS headset, but because the sound quality is there for the price on any similar corded pair I decided tokeep them because if I absolutely have to walkaway from my Mac, I do at least have that option. Moral of the story is, if you are looking for a great sounding pair of WIRELESS headphones don't be cheap like me and fork down more of you hard earned cash on something else.
Pros: Great feel and look. Very decent sound for the price if its used as a corded set.
Cons: Bluetooth qualityWould have preffered audio jack to have been on right ear cup.
JBL Synchros headphones are solid performers especially given the $100 price tag. First, they are bluetooth-capable. I have become a big fan of bluetooth headphones since making the switch on my last phones. The JBLs link up with no problems to my Android phone. Battery life is good; probably in the 10-15 hour range as advertised. (I have found that listening to them fully charged enhances the sound to some degree.) My prior headphones were a pair of Beats Wireless so the switch to the JBLs took some getting used to. Beats, of course, are known for their bass and the JBLs do not have the same boost on the bass end. That being said, I have grown to like the more balanced sound of the JBLs. I find the fit very comfortable and the controls to be simple. Using them to take phone calls is no problem. I can hear those on the other end and vis versa. Definitely recommend.
Pros: Good balanced sound, good fit, good value for Bluetooth headphones.
Cons: Wish they had a carrying case.
You can't go wrong with JBL brand. For the money, the sound wasn't a disappointment. It looks great and it delivers. The only thing I didn't like is the ear cup it too small. After using it for a while my ears are starting to hurt. Otherwise, this item is a steal :)
Pros: Sounds great and pairing to a similar headphone is a cool feature.
Cons: It could use more padding for ear or a bigger ear enclose.
I think this is a great headset for the price range its in. The sound quality is good. I use it with my Android based phone and tablets and my Windows laptop. I know this may seem trivial but I really like how with just one quick press of the control on the headset it turns off or on. Pairing is easy and quick and the range seems fine. The only thing that surprised me is the connector on the headset you use for charging is not usb. They provide a cable with a standard full size USB on one end but on the other end is 3.5mm for the headset. If you lose your cable or forget it while traveling you are out of luck. They provide a standard audio 3.5mm cable also for wired sound that plugs into the same connector that is used for charging. Wish they would have used a micro USB on the headset instead. Have had more comfortable headsets before but after using it for a while it became more comfortable, not as tight.
In the process of raising a family the music that was always a part of my life was put on hold. These headphones allow me the freedom to roam the house without being tethered to a cord and they bring the music I miss so much back in the way I enjoy hearing it... loud and clear. I had the 50BT's but they prevented me from hearing any of the goings on around the house. That, plus the over-the-ear style of the 50's were less than comfortable when wearing glasses while tying flies. The E40BT 'phones are simply way more than I expected in headphones... they sound fantastic, were a snap to pair and are very comfortable. I'm glad I found them and very glad Crutchfield gave me the chance to try them.
Pros: Comfort, pairing ease, price and sound quality.
Cons: A bit overboard on the JBL logo's but that's about it in my book.
Overall, they were exactly what I wanted: wireless/bluetooth, comfortable, over the ear and great sound. I read a lot of reviews before purchasing and bought the E50 for my fiance for Christmas. He loves his, but I opted to go down one model and wasn't disappointed. They are smaller than the E50 but I have smaller ears, so that doesn't bother me. They are all they advertise to be and worth every penny compared to spending 3 times the money on a more "popular" brand. The sharing feature worked great while traveling as we could listen to the same thing from one device on both of our headphones.
Pros: -wireless -easy to use -sound quality -comfort -customer service from Crutchfield
Cons: -E40 are a little less solidly built than E50 but to be expected for price difference
Great value for money, love them able to use at gym without carrying my phone.
Good sound. Good value
I bought these for my husband birthday and he loves them. They work so good and the Bluetooth reaches far. The customer service was GREAT ??
Pros: LOVE THE COLOR AND SOUND
Bluetooth, AND noise reducing, for the price, are you kidding?
Pros: Great sound for the price.
Cons: Nothing to complain about at this time... seem to be a good product.
This is a good set for the money, sound is good, quality seems to be good. Hopefully the "leather" will last a long time and doesn't fall apart anytime soon. Had them on for about 3 hours straight and my ears did not hurt, so they're quite comfortable. They pair really quick and without any problems.
Pros: Good design, sound, cables to hook'em up if you're out of juice.
Cons: None at this point.
Awesome shipping time. Received on time before Christmas.
Pros: Easy to sync. Very comfortable, very easy to use. Great sound.
Cons: Could be a little louder.
Great overall product for the price. I like the simplicity of the design; functional yet cool. Love the fact that you can use it both wireless or wired for those times you have extended beyond your battery's life! Also like that the charging cable uses the same input jack as for the wired RCA jack.
Good Value for the price for Bluetooth abliliry. Could use some higher volume levels.
Pros: Good value for Bluetooth
Cons: Volume could use some increased ability.
The sound quality is amazing and I LOVE the bass when needed. I was everything I expected and more from JBL! You cannot go wrong with this headphones!
Pros: Wireless. Awesome bass. Noise reduction.
Bought these for granddaughter for Christmas. She says " These really bump". Glad she really likes them.
Shopped everywhere for Bluetooth headphones for my 13 year old daughter. She destroyed a pair of cheaper feeling Beats last year so wireless is a huge plus (you can use a cord if you need too). I figured if JBL can make sound systems for Ferrari and Lexus, they can make a quality set of headphones. So far, I am right.
Pros: Great sound. Easy to use. The blue stands out. Very affordable compared to "popular" companies, and they feel much more solid built.
Cons: None yet
Great Headphones!!!! JBL has be known in the past and present to produce awesome products! this is no different. bluetooth, great sound quality, user friendly, absolutely looks sharp, long battery life (16 hours), quickly charged, comfortable, affordable, my teen daughter loves them. My daughter walks around the house wearing the headphones while her iPad seats in her room. I love the wireless technology. A great gift for any teen daughter that loves music.
Pros: affordable, user friendly, bluetooth, great sound, not bulky, comfortable, looks great and you can choose from different colors. Thank you JBL and Thank you Crutchfield for your customer service! Most Excellent!!! my daughter loves the headphones and she is happy! and that matters...
Perfect sound and no wires. Battary long lasting for 16 hours. Perfect and love it.
Pros: No Wires and good price compare to others.
My husband got these for me as an early xmas present. I do a lot of house cleaning (obviously) and I love how these are wireless and terrific sound. I love my JBL's over ear headphones.
Pros: Lightweight awesome sound quality comfortable affordable
Cons: Not much to say in this department
The audio industry has been slow to introduce Bluetooth headphones into the market place and I have waited patiently to find a product that is of sufficient quality and reliability at a reasonable price to announce "Bluetooth Headphones are now a serious contender". It is true that there were a few Bluetooth headphones at or below the $100 price point last year, but it was tough to sift through the good from the bad. Recently I spotted these headphones on the Crutchfield site and started to get excited that a reliable name brand manufacturer of budget, well balanced speakers, for at least the last three decades, have entered into the Bluetooth headphone market. I ordered a pair. They arrive in a nicely packaged box which reminds me of how Apple package their products. They come complete with two wire connectors - one which is for recharging (which is not intended for USB audio connection) and an optional way to directly connect between your audio device and the headphones in a conventional fashion. The build quality is very solid and gives the impression that they will last for a decent length of time. These headphones rotate about vertical access on each side so you can adjust the angle to better fit your hears. Connecting them up the computer or mobile phone was simple and reliable - as if years of fine tuning had been applied to the design. Sound quality was impressively balanced and very listenable for a detailed review of my favorite music. Get a pair
Pros: Easy to connect to a Bluetooth transmitting/receiving device and then reconnect later on. Microphone for ease of use with your mobile phone Easy to adjust volume control Ability to add a second set of Headphones for two people to share the same Bluetooth streaming device Well balanced frequency range with respectable clarity and depth (treble and bass)
Cons: Overall comfort when worn for longer than an hour or so - since these headphones sit on your ears they can begin to ache after a certain period of time. This is typical with any headphones of this type. I found that the headphones sounded better when reversed - so that the Left side was on the right ear. This may be due to my inbalance of frequency range between left and right ears. However reversing them means that the microphone is now facing the back of your head away from the mouth.
Awesome product. Sleek and comfortable.
Pros: Good sound and looks good.
Cons: It would have been nice to come with a carrying case.
very well built, a little on the heavy side, very easy to set up and user friendly.
Pros: well built, simple to use, easy operation, great battery life.
Cons: seem a little heavy, might just be me, not used to wearing full size headphones.
These headphones have exceeded my expectations. For the money, these are great headphones and bluetooth on top of that. They are designed and built well to be sturdy and easy to manipulate, but also handle being stuffed in a bag while traveling. They are comfortable and may be adjusted in and out so as to fit the head better so that the cans sit properly on the ears. Additionally, while not "over the ear", the design and size of these is ideal where it rests on the ear while blocking out external sound like an over the ear. These also adjust easily to be worn comfortably over one ear at a time. I've been wearing them for practically 2 days straight with little/no discomfort. I love the simplicity of the display (one LED) and controls (up, down for volume/ one primary control for pause/play/skip). The design of the "bezel" around the controls provides for protection from inadvertently tapping the control while adjusting the phones on your head. I had them paired to my device and up and running in literally 2 minutes after opening the box. Finally and most importantly, the sound is really good- better than expected. I know there is better, but the bass is deep and clear, and clear highs. The mid could have a bit more depth. But I can't imagine others that cost 3X+ being that factor of quality in sound.
Pros: Solid construction while lightweight. Simple controls that actually work as designed. Great sound for a bluetooth device.
Cons: A bit tricky going from one paired source to another but that is most likely more of a source issue than the design of the headphones. Nothing else identified so far.
From a technical perspective, the sounds is good. Bluetooth sync was easy. Listening to music or talking on the phone sounds good
Pros: Hands free headset, talking on the phone via bluetooth
Cons: Not comfortable over the ears after a few minutes. The ear muffs cannot be adjusted, so they pinch your ears at the bottom.
Very nice blue tooth head set
Pros: Good quality
Cons: The ear pads are small, don't cover the entire ear.
I have several hundred classical CDs on my laptop. I can listen to them anywhere but was always tethered to the device. With the JBLs I can go anywhere within about 30 ft of the computer and hear the same great sound. The headphones are comfortable, easy to connect by Bluetooth and, to my ears, are as good in sound quality as any of the higher priced headphones I have. I'm getting much more enjoyment our of my music collection. I did not test with a smartphone.
Pros: Comfortable, easy to connect, excellent sound with fine bass. As good at reducing surrounding noise as any of my non-noise canceling headphones.
Cons: About 30 ft range with my laptop - quite adequate for me.
The price for these bluetooth headphones is the selling point. I purchased these for my 11 year old daughter and they are awesome. They are definitely worth the money compared to it's counterparts and you won't be paying an arm and a leg for these as you would be for those.
Pros: Price, quality of build, color choices
Cons: I would like a little more bass but they are loud enough for my daughter.
I like to use headsets especially when I'm going for a walk or working in the yard. I thought it would be nice not to have to fiddle with a cord especially when I'm trimming shrubs and the like around the house. Cords can easily get in the way and possibly cut by accident. I didn't expect the quality of the bluetooth sound to be as good as a corded set, but I was was very pleasantly surprised as how great these sounded. They also fit snug so they can be heard over lawnmower noise. I haven't tried using he phone setup yet. But, I'm very happy with the sound quality of music and audiobooks.
Pros: Great sound. Outside noise is muted because of snug fit.
Cons: They tend to fall off if you're bending over a lot picking things up while working in the yard.
I could not have asked for a better set of Bluetooth headphones . Sync with ease to everything I've tried as of yet . Great sound , and functions as they should .... Thanks yet again Crutchfield for another awesome purchase !!!
Great value when compared to Bose
Pros: Quality look and materials
Cons: No noise canceling

Yes. Just go to JBL's Web site and locate the E40BT. Scroll down to, "Product Specs, Manuals & Compatibility." Then click on that and select the Spec Sheet or the Quick Start Guide. On the iPhone, you can touch the three little dots in the upper right and "share" the manual by emailing it to yourself, or you can open it in Safari (on the iPhone) and add it to the "Reading List" by touching the Open Book icon at the bottom of the screen. That way, you can just refer to the email you sent yourself, or open Safari's reading list and select the manual there. If you don't have an iPhone, I'm quite sure there are 2 or 3 ways to save the manual on whatever operating system you're using on your smartphone. Good luck.[ David Jun 29, 2015 ]
I have a solution for iPhone if you are a iPhone user. Google jbl e49bt manual", click on the link that takes you to jbl. When it takes you to the page that displays your headphones then scroll to the bottom and click the + sign next to manuals & downloads. Select Quick Star Guide, this will open the manual on PDF, then on the top right click Open in iBooks. This will download the manual on your iBooks app.[ LUIS Jun 28, 2015 ]

Absolutely . Simply sync to Bluetooth and you're off and running . Works with iPad and android devices just as easy . These sound great too . One fault ..... They must be synced each time that you use them . Your phone will list them but you have to " forget this device " and resync . Other than that they're great . Good luck . You won't find a better set of BT headphones for the price .[ DANIEL Apr 03, 2015 ]

Blue headphone[ Jang Dec 13, 2014 ]
The noise reduction is excellent I listencil to music at all levels and the sound is clear I also use it make phone calls and it works perfect no echo or distorted sounds. I love the quality I also brought my son one as a Birthday gift.[ Michael Dec 10, 2014 ]
The external noise reduction is not great. However, the sound quality is phenomenal if you pump enough volume into them..[ valdo Dec 08, 2014 ]

Noise reduction is the same for any on ear headphone, minimally passive. I purchased these for my wife but I have used them. The sound quality is fantastic but probably not your best choice for a trip on an airplane. They almost seem more comfortable than my over the ear JBL E50BT's. I have a good sized head and they fit great. You might get more of a passive noise cancelling from the E50BT. Hope this helped.[ JASON J Dec 08, 2014 ]
This headphone is light. Noise reduction is ok. It's not noise canceling. Very easy to set up with Bluetooth devices. Battery lasts very long before recharging. I also have the e50bt. That's bigger and excellent noise reduction.[ Al Dec 07, 2014 ]
I've had no issues with noise reduction . As far as sizing , they fit my head just fine ( and I have a pretty large head ) . The only issue I have , which is minor , is with comfort after wearing these awhile ..... The ear pads hold heat , therefore creating sweat . Other that this , I'd highly recommend . Good luck with your purchase .[ DANIEL Dec 07, 2014 ]
The noise reduction on the JBL E40BT was OK and the music level was just fine, I have a big head and didn't feel any discomfort at all while using these for walking/jogging and at the gym.I did however had pairing problem with these, it seem that every day that I was going to use them it lost bluetooth connection with my iPhone or Macbook. Got tired of that and that's why I opted out for a pair of Bose SoundLink Bluetooth, I love the sound and noise reduction on these much better and the paring problem disappeared[ LUIS Dec 07, 2014 ]
They are Christmas gifts that I haven't given yet to my kids. I'll let you know as soon as they open it. I'm planning to give it to them next week.[ RAJA Dec 07, 2014 ]
I have been enjoying these headphones for a couple of months. They are not actively noise reducing but the foam earpieces fit comfortably and block out normal household background noise. I have a hat size of 7? inches and these are just fine. For the money I think they would be hard to beat.[ PETER Dec 07, 2014 ]
I think the sound is perfect. I also have a big head but haven't had any difficulty in wearing the earphones for one or two hours. All in all 100% satisfied with this purchase.[ warren Dec 07, 2014 ]
No noise reduction it all. Not the most comfortable fitting. My ears got a little sore after wearing them for a while. Okay for the price.[ Richard Dec 07, 2014 ]
First, these headphones sound just great both as Bluetooth and wired. I read the Same reviews where someone stretched the set by placing them over the back of a couch overnight. That works if you find them to be too tight. These aren't noise canceling sets like Bose of that type, but they do block noise effectively. You can listen to these while mowing your lawn without having to turn them up dangerously high. They stay on pretty well unless you're trying to go jogging or something. I got them for the convenience of Bluetooth and was surprised at how great they sound. These are a very goof deal.[ David Dec 07, 2014 ]
Wifi is not Bluetooth so don't confuse the two.[ thomas Aug 09, 2016 ]
