Our take on the JBL Grand Touring Series GTO1204BP

Get the party started in your car with the JBL GTO1204BP, a bandpass subwoofer that combines the power of a potent JBL GTO 12" sub with the efficiency of a bandpass enclosure. The GTO woofer fires from an airtight chamber, fronted with plexiglass, into a second chamber that sports an aluminum-finished slot port. This bandpass design increases speaker output for bass that's loud and low.

The GTO woofer fires from an airtight chamber, fronted with plexiglass, into a second chamber that sports an aluminum-finished slot port. The box's heavy-grade construction holds up to whatever bass pounding you inflict upon it, and its striking appearance makes a bold visual statement in your car. And for an added visual touch, a set of white LED lights are installed inside the box, with 12-volt power and ground terminals for the lights located on the enclosure's backside for easy access.

JBL Grand Touring Series GTO1204BP

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this sub for my 2001 Celica, hooked up to a Profile 1200 watt amp, and this thing goes nuts! Easy install and interior lights add for a cool effect. The bass pounds, is very clear, and has just enough punch. I can't see out of my mirrors any more! Good for the price and super fast shipping, you won't be dissapointed!

Pounding Bass.

Lavorice from Clarkston, MI on 7/10/2008

I purchased a 2008 Saturn VUE Redline recently and wanted to put a new box in the car that would match the color and give good sound. I got both. I ordered the GTO1204BP and hooked it up to a classic MTX240 Amplifier. I bridged the channels and the thing just pounds. I had to turn the gain almost alway down so my wife could ride in the car with me. My installer was very impressed with the performance of the amp and box. One of the best purchases I've made this year.

A True Hybrid

Robert from Montgomery, Al on 1/24/2008

This woofer and box combo by JBL truly has the accuracy of a sealed box and the effeiciency of a ported box. The GTO1204BP hits with attention getting authority with out missing or distorting any of the low notes. JBL has created in this box the perfect blend of street BOOM with amazing home stereo like, accuracy at a steal of price. A very good product, you actually get more than you pay for!

Great bass in a large SUV

Jay from Orlando, FL on 9/14/2007

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This sub is great if your tight on space. I own a 2005 Nissan Armada with a massive interior but an extremely small trunk area when the third row bench is up. The sub fits perfectly behind the third row seat with a few inches to spare. I powered the JBL sub with a Rockford Fosgate Punch amp and it hits all the right bass notes without any distortion. This sub hits hard! I had to set the amp's gain about 1/3 of the way up because any more and the entire SUV would shake. The price is also pretty good for what you get. I highly recommend this sub.

Excellent Sounding Sub!

audiophile from Sacramento, CA on 12/30/2006

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a well designed subwoofer that sounds excellent. It produces clean, low notes and can hit hard if needed. It's more than enough bass for an audiophile like me. The internal LED lighting makes it looks better than most of the other subs enclosures out there. The price is not bad either. I have this hooked up to a JBL 755.6II amp and factory JBL speakers all around and I am certainly happy with my system. I highly recommend this sub!

JBL Grand Touring Series GTO1204BP

crutchfield from Frederick, MD on 12/8/2006

I hooked this sub up in my mustang with the mach 450 audio system. First let me say to get it in you have to remove the truck latch and get ride of the mach system casing from the trunk (black plastic casing). I hooked it up to a kicker amp and it sounds great, hits hard and even deleivers on the low notes that some subs miss. Definitely a great sub for the money.

Features

Solid MDF Construction: The enclosure is constructed of high quality MDF (medium-density fiberboard), whichresists flexing and has anti-resonant qualities.

Bandpass Enclosure: The bandpass enclosure has a front-firing slot vent and a clear Plexiglas front window. The enclosure consists of one internal side firing 12" woofer. The woofer's basket is visible from the front window. The woofer's cone is not visible because it is firing into the second enclosed side chamber. The speaker terminals are located on the back of the box. The top, bottom, back and sides of the box are covered in black carpet. The front of the box is covered by a black aluminum finish along with the front Plexiglas window and silver slot vent. There is a JBL logo imprinted on front of the enclosure.

Tuned Port: The enclosure uses one front-firing slot vent to help produce deep and loud bass efficiently. The port is located on the front right hand side of the box. The port is a rectangle shape and measures - Height = 12", Width = 1.5", Depth = 16.5".

Box Carpeting: The enclosure is finished with quality carpeting for superior durability. The carpet color is black.

Box Terminal: The subwoofer enclosure uses 8 AWG binding posts to connect your amplifier to the speaker box. The binding posts are located on the back of the box.

Woofer: The enclosure houses one 12" single voice coil, 4 ohm woofer. The speaker is a polypropylene cone-type woofer with a hi-roll rubber surround which provides exceptional cone-edge suspension and log-throw linearity with control and stability at the excursion limits.

Power Handling: The subwoofer can handle up to 300 watts RMS power and 1,200 watts peak power.

LED Lighting: Four white LED lights are installed inside of the box that are visible from the front Plexiglas window . The power and ground screw terminals for the lights are located on the back side of the box above the speaker terminals. You may want to install a switch or wire the lights to your radio's remote turn on lead so the LED lights can be turned on and off without unplugging the wires from the box.

Accessing Woofer: There is a panel on the bottom-side of the box that can be removed to access the front of the subwoofer. The carpeted panel is held in place by 12 screws.
