These JBLs are pretty punchy for a 5 1/4" setup. JBL does a good job of building quality products in the affordable market, though you'll never see them at the bottom of the barrel (and for good reason). Still, the GT7-5 series is a good entrance into the mid-tier market. I get plenty of volume out of them and they do great with mid/high freq. response. They did distort when I tried to push a little extra power to them - they certainly aren't built for enthusiasts. Still, if you need something of good quality and are trying to avoid the $100 and over price points, these are worthy contenders for your cash. I replaced my stock Nissan Altima 2012 speakers with these and it's a strong improvement. Fills out my system nicely. The only downside was in my installation, Crutchfield said these fit without having to drill new holes - that was not the case. Had to drill 2 new holes to mount the Scosche brackets properly. Fortunately my buddy has the bits to do that, so I got it done.
Pros: Under $100, good performance until you really drive them (expected), fits with a lot of cars (albeit with some adjustments), strong mid range performance.
Cons: Not the best performers at higher volumes, doesn't do a good job of limiting bass so if you don't have channel output controls you'll likely have to live with a cap of volume or accept lower bass levels (unless you dig distortion at moderately-loud volumes).
