Item # 109JBLG796 | MFR # GT7-96
The compact design of the GT7-96 makes it a fit for a wide variety of cars.
These GT7-96 6"x9" speakers from JBL have everything you want when shopping for a car speaker: an advanced design, quality materials, a cool look, and a practical price tag. But in the end, it's the sound they make that matters, and true to their iconic heritage, these JBLs deliver.
This is a whopper of a speaker. Patented Plus One™ architecture expands the surface area of the big oval polypropylene woofer, so you'll enjoy impressive bass. An edge-driven dome tweeter and supertweeter handle a wider range of frequencies to create a seamless transition between the midrange and high frequencies.
JBL built these GT7 speakers to handle up to 70 watts RMS, so they'll perform spectacularly with an aftermarket radio or amp, but with a design geared toward maximum efficiency, you'll get superior performance even from a factory radio. Grilles are included for a custom installation.
Average Customer Review(s):
Great speakers. Crystal clear. Decent bass. Love them!
Pros: Bolted right into my '01Ram's doors. They fit like factory. Great sound.
Speaker are awesome, great sound. I had a couple of questions when installing with the FJ Cruiser kit and the tech support was great, friendly and made the installation a breeze.
No one has ever accused me of being an audiophile, but these speakers sound good to me. Much better than the factory ones. The install was straightforward and the instructions, or "master sheet" was spot on and very helpful.
Great rock n roll speakers, In sealed boxes, plenty of punch......
Great sounding speakers and the fit was perfect. Also appreciate the fast service. Also these speakers are better than the Kickers that were in there!!!
Pros: Great sounding speakers and they fit perfect.Much better then the Kickers that were in there before. Also prompt service!!!
hey came with the harness which is cool, but they took drilling out new mount holes. The speakers sound great when you have some volume, but they seem to buzz a bit at lower power.
Pros: nice harness
Cons: Tough mounting, frequency response poor at low volume
2017 Frontier...Perfect fit! No mods needed! Way way way better sound than factory!
Pros: Typical JBL...what I mean is, JBL always sounds good and at a good price
I bought these speakers because I thought they could be run by my head unit but that is not the case. The sound is not clear, and I am having to buy an amp now to power them.
Pros: Look nice and have nice highs
Cons: Don't have clear sound when run from a head unit
I replaced the stock front speakers in my 2013 Dodge Challenger and the result was night and day. There is a remarkable increase in definition as well as a nice, clean bass response. I couldn't be happier with my car audio now.
Pros: Easy install, amazing sound
Fit my 2016 frontier front door perfectly just like they say it would and the sound quality is well worth the price.
Nothing wrong with the speaker but I had a problem with the wrong information here.It said fits 2014 prius with the bracket but its impossible to fit in my car.I now check the manual for the bracket and it said only 2010 to 2011.Why is Crutchfield selling as 2014 compatible.I end up using factory bracket with my dyi skill but plz remove it for future so they don't have to suffer like me.
Installed in 2016 Colorado. Great sound with factory radio, equivalent volume to factory speakers. Added a 50 watt RMS amp and really brought them to life. Installation directions were good. Be very careful with aluminum retainers in the doors, must be aligned for screws to start. I do wish the speakers came with push on connectors and about 6" of lead. Other than that I would rate a 5 star.
These speakers are well worth the price as they make the music sound very crisp and clear. These speakers affect in a positive way the "highs" but also the bass sounds good. With the JBL speakers, you get a good well-rounded sound. Overall, these speakers are worth the price.
So far I have no complaints. The speakers are very clear and do exactly what they are supposed to. They also fit my Frontier's front doors perfectly.
Sounds great, almost as good as the powered sub woofer.
Pros: Add's depth without distortion and not bringing down the neighborhood. But that's what I wanted
Great sounding replacements for my worn out stock speakers. I used the Metra 72-4568 wiring harness which made wiring them easy. I had to slightly modify my stock speaker mounting brackets to achieve a solid fit. The stock mounting brackets are made of plastic: I had to "nip" away at the inner ring of the bracket to make a slightly larger opening to accept the new speaker. I used a pair of Milwaukee straight cutting aviation snips and then filed the rough edges.
Cons: Some modification necessary to properly fit the speaker into my stock speaker mounting bracket
Sound is way better than factory front door speakers in my 2014 Silverado double cab. I used the metra 72-5600 wiring harness and the speaker adapter for easy installation. The Metra 72-5600 is not listed as compatible, but worked fine and the polarity was correct too.
Pros: sounds good with factory radio and no amp.
Installed these speakers in the front doors of a 2012 Ford Explorer. We are very happy with the quality of these speakers, they are a definite upgrade over the factory speakers. Also the quality of the sound from phone calls has improved noticeably with the addition of these speakers.
Replaced the paper-cone lower door speakers in the front doors of my Toyota Tacoma. The JBL GT7-96's have much richer sound, better mids, better bass. Install was easy with the provided wire harnesses and speaker adapters. Much happier with the overall sound of the stereo compared to the extremely cheap stock speakers. Still using the stock head, no amp (yet). Thanks Crutchfield!
amazing speakers!! I am so happy I went for these JBL speakers. the sound is amazing. it was easy to install as well!
I replaced the factory speakers in my '17 Tacoma with these up front and the JBL GT7-6 in the rear doors with both sets powered by the factory radio. Installation was a breeze and only took about an hour for all 4 speakers. So far, I can say that the sound quality is crystal clear and much better than the factory, just not as loud. The low end range when listening will not rattle your doors or anything, but without an external amp I wouldn't have expected it to anyway. Overall, for factory replacements for less than $200 for both sets I have no complaints and would recommend these to anyone.
Pros: Great sound quality
Great sound and great price. Very well rounded and clear sound out of this 3 way speaker. Would recommend to anyone upgrading their factory system.
These make my floorboards vibrate due to the stock underpowered head unit in my '12 ram 1500. The highs that the tweeter and midrange produce WOKE UP MY SOUND AND everything I play now. The bass is full and rich. I wish I bought them sooner. One of the sales reps recommended them. Dexter was his name. Only iffy part was getting them to fit in the driver's side door. The passenger side door was easier. A stupid metal bat support is in the way to make it difficult. I was only able to get two screws holding them in place due to not perfectly lining up. One day I'll get a new headunit to compliment these speakers to make them sound even better.
Pros: Great price. Great bass.
Cons: Wish the speakers fit better in front doors of '12 ram 1500
Easy to install, way better sound then my stock speakers. Really makes the ride more enjoyable.
Good speakers Nice fit with the factory head unit. Awesome bass, mids and highs.
These speakers sound very good and were moderately priced and fit my vehicle well (2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser) with the Crutchfield provided speaker mounting adapters and wiring harnesses. I replaced the factory door speakers with these, and the difference in sound separation and clarity was readily apparent. To be fair, I did replace the OEM head unit at the same time, and did not compare the difference using the other OEM parts. I would recommend these speakers.
Pros: Fit well with supplied mounting adapter Sound great
Theses speakers have a bright full range sound and they were easily fit into my Nissan truck.
Weirdly inexpensive for a great upgrade over stock speakers. These aren't mind blowing great but very good for the price. I didn't plan on installing myself, 2014 Tacoma double cab, but gave it a go and it was fine. Given free harness and brackets the price is really hard to believe.
Pros: ease of installation, quality, PRICE
Great sounding speaker for stock OEM radio.
These speakers are the best speakers for the price.
Pros: Easy to install with adapter wiring to convert to after market speakers.
Great improvement over stock
Great speakers, big improvement over the stock Chevy speakers
Pros: Sounds great, good separation and clarity
no noticeable difference in sound quality or volume after all the labor to install them. Provided adapters and instructions from Crutchfield were top notch but these speakers have NO bass whatsover. Even replacing the lousy paper cones that Subaru installed. Could be from the pathetic head unit in the 2016 Forester but sheesh.
Pros: look nice. good quality speaker
Cons: no volume, no bass.
Jbl speakers sound great but the wiring connection adapters that were sent did not work well and had to crimp on stake on connectors to make it work.
Pros: Speakers mounted well into existing holes and the sound good.
Cons: The connector kits did not work with the existing car connectors.
Perfect fit for 2015 RAM 1500. Guide says it will not fit but it does. Great full sound. Put in front doors. Much fuller sound than the 6.5's that are recommended. Highly recommend.
Pros: Full rich sound.
Cons: Foam surrounds.
Compared to the factory speakers it night and day. The high end is so much more defined and clear. Now at the time i am not running them off of an amp, just direct to an aftermarket head unit. And they sound just fine... The price was also a bonus, defiantly got my monies worth.
Pros: plug and play low cost solid sound
The sound in my chrysler 200 with boston accoustic speakers was a disappointment in the rear deck. I bought the JBL's and installed them. As usual Crutchfield came through again. Better sound and enjoyment with my music. The boston's that came from the rear were cheap wizzer cone speakers. I figured they would at least put 2-ways in for the money.
Pros: better quality and sound. It is a pleasure ordering from a faithful company like Crutchfield.
I installed these in my Tacoma in very little time. The kit from Crutchfield was excellent, but a few modifications were required to the adapter. The sound came to life after installing these up front, and the GT7-6 in the rear. I have not added an amp yet, but the improvement is worth just the speakers. Can't beat the price for the two sets! This is my third vehicle that I upgraded with Crutchfield components based on their recommendations, and these guys know music! Thanks a million Crutchfield!
Pros: Easy install with few tweaks. Great sound for the price!!
Cons: None really. Just a bit of time to think things over before doing the install goes a long way!
Put these in the front doors. Together with the Kicker VSS Powerstage System in my 2015 Silverado Crew Cab, they sound great.
Pros: Great sound. Price.
Terrible sounding speakers i worked in the speakers and powered them with a 4ch amp thay sound the same as the day i put them in thay cant handle high vol not even vol 22 with out sounding bad and if u have subs u wont even be able 2 hear the speakers at all and i am only running 500 rms subs
Cons: jbl speakers are juckCrutchfield response on 5/18/2016 Whenever you are disappointed with anything you purchase from Crutchfield, please contact our Customer Support team. Purchases from Crutchfield can be returned or exchanged within 60 days of the purchase.
The sound of the radio was terrible. I call Crutchfield and spoke with their Tech who suggested the JBL speakers front and rear. Now the sound is that of a luxury car with a hi quality sound system.
Speakers fit just as they should. Sound is good. Good pair of speakers, without spending a lot of money.
Pros: They fit the factory bracket. sound good, not expensive. I would but them again.
These speakers made the quality of sound go from sub par to superb! All while still using my factory head unit. I wish there was more bass, but with that being said I would just have to get a subwoofer! ;). With these speakers it literally sounds like I have surround sound in my car!
Pros: Crystal clear sound, deeper bass and broader range of sound
Cons: Not enough bass
Great sound, it was worth wrestling with my back seat
Installed these as factory rear deck replacements, wish I'd done it sooner! I replaced the head unit about a year ago (also bought from Crutchfield, these guys rock!) which made a little difference in the overall sound. These speakers totally made the difference. I mainly listen to electro and hip hop, so decent bass and crisp highs are a must for me. These speakers deliver a great range, nice bass, and no distortion. Disassembling my rear deck was simple up until the last few steps but I managed to figure it out. The speakers were supposed to drop into place with no additional bracket but this wasn't the case. I ended up having to carefully use a drill to widen a couple holes on the speakers in order to fasten them down (which was a little nerve wracking). Putting the trim pieces back in was also a little frustrating, but I got it all back together and the speakers sound amazing, especially considering that I don't have a separate amp or sub.
Pros: Nice & rich bass, good range and highs, no distortion, excellent price.
Cons: Did not fit like expected, had to modify the speakers in order to fasten securely.
Great overall speakers and you get what you pay for! Great sound at a great price and I am running these with Polk DXi651s. All of them are being powered with a clarion xc1410 4 channel amp! The speakers match up well and everything works great! The highs are smooth and distinctive coming from these JBLs. The mids are great too. The lows and miss bass are pronounced and even sounding. I'm pushing 50 watts to them and they take it well!
Pros: Great Bass! Great highs! Decent mid bass!
Cons: Foam Surrounds Basket is kind of sketchy
Bought these to replace OE Toyota speakers. Full, tight bass response and a noticeable improvement over OE speakers.
Pros: Price, sound quality
Great quick response from Hi's to Low's on these speakers. They fit in just fine with my 2010 4Runner, the install took just a few minutes to get both doors completed. For a 3way speaker I anticipated that the bass would be overpowered by the mids/highs but you really do get the full spectrum with these JBLs.
Pros: Price Overall Sound Quality Great Lows, incredible Highs - at all volumes
good bass, good sound. installation was a little difficult.
Great sound! Easy install! Perfect for the 2011 FJ
They sound great. Even with the factory radio. Installed in a 2015 Silverado. Highs, mids and bass are perfect. Couldn't be any happier.
Cons: None so far
These speakers are good the highs sound good but if you are looking for bass these speakers will not do it.
These speakers are a great upgrade from the factory oem in a 2009 Tacoma. Great high-end with the existing factory tweeters and much fuller bass compared to the Tacoma oem's. High value for the cost and installation was straight forward with the Crutchfield supplied mounting and wiring adaptors.
Pros: Much fuller sound and improved bass. Used with a Jensen nav receiver, the equalizer allows a custom sound profile for talk radio and for music.
Cons: No cons
I have these running at 65w RMS each off the front pair of a 5 channel class D amp and these things kick. The midrange in these speakers is decent but overpowered by the bass they produce. All in all I think they sound really good if you have an EQ and can bump the mid range and treble up a bit. I turned these speakers into monsters after playing with settings.
Pros: Sound good, more bass than 6.5" speakers.
Cons: None so far.
These gave me a huge improvement in sound quality and worked with the stock radio. They were easy to install with the adapters adapter rings and wire harnesses that Crutchfield included.
I wanted speakers to replace the factory ones in my Nissan Pathfinder without replacing the radio or adding an amp. These sound sound great and are better then the Bose system in our other car.
Pros: Cost Sound quality
Really good sounds coming from these JBL's, good range, I hear crisp definition between the high notes, low notes and mid range. I'm hearing sounds in songs that I've been listening to for years for the first time. I have to say I'm pretty darn happy, especially for the price. When doing my install; it seemed I was dealing with a quality product, nice fit and finish. I presume I'll be getting years of satisfaction from these speakers. I only give them a four star rating because I still want more volume, I have a feeling the only way I'll get enough volume for my liking is if I invest big bucks on big power. After all I'm only driving them with a $130 Kenwood deck, in a Corolla, so I'm thrilled
Pros: clear crisp sounds
Cons: none really, they rock
These speakers sound great. I replaced a monsoon stereo and back speakers in my Pontiac Grand AM and it was quit a chore. Ran into a few issues but the team at Crutchfield got me thru it. They are great and I will use them again.
Pros: No matter what you buy here they will help you with any issues.
Great upgrade/replacement to factory Toyota 4runner stock speakers.
Pros: Great website helps determine what fits my vehicle. Installation was easy and quick with the instructions and adapters included.
I love them so far very crisp sound.
Pros: Sounds great.
Cons: No cons.
these speakers pump out some sound!
Pros: Strong sound, good construction, light weight.
Cons: They could defiantly have better high end treble. They are a little bass heavy. Fairly expensive price point for what you get.
Great alternative at a great price
Amazing Quality and a definite upgrade from stock speakers
Pros: Crisp, Clear sound. Amazing build and sound quality for price point.
Cons: None really.
These speakers put out excellent sound for a factory drop in replacement. The speaker construction is of very high quality.
Pros: Great sound
I bought a pair for front door speakers in my 2014 Challenger , because the basic stereo it had was alright but sounded a little muddy and had no highs. I am still using the factory stereo and wiring and the difference in the sound is just incredible. It sounds like the music is live in concert and crystal clear with no distortion at any volume.I am one happy customer !!!
Pros: crystal clear sound
Cons: no speaker wires included
Best speakers I've bought so far. Good to have if you don't have the money for a sub but still want some bass
Nice set of sub speakers. These were paired with a Kenwood head unit and they sound pretty good so far. Installation was fairly smooth, only 3 of the 4 holes lined up, but the included adapters made quick work of the wiring.
Pros: Good sound. Fairly tight response across all ranges. Good speaker choice in this price range.
These JBL's sound great even with the old factory head unit, and a pair of 6 " rounds to balance them out. Strong at low or high volume!!
I am always amazed when I pull out factory car speakers (this is my 3rd car and Crutchfield speaker upgrade) and see how cheap they are - it's amazing they play music at all. Anyway, these JBL's are wonderful. When you unbox them, you immediately can see what high quality they are and solidly they are built. Easy to install using the door adapters. And the sound is super crisp. WELL worth the cost and effort. You won't be disappointed!
Pros: Great sound, solid construction
I tried to install these in a 2015 Subaru Outback. Crutchfield did not have a MasterSheet and included no instructions. I was able to find some information on the Internet. The supplied bracket required some modifications. Only two of the existing bracket holes would line up with the speaker frame holes and required drilling two new holes so screws could be inserted at all four points. I removed the door panels but could not uncouple two of the couplings. I ended up taking the speakers somewhere to be installed. As to sound I would just say ok. I thought the bass is boomy and not very tight. I don't know that I would purchase these again. If I had it to do over again I would just go to a stereo shop.
Pros: Ok sound
Very good upgrade for my stock 2008 Toyota Tacoma speakers. I was looking for a decent set of front speakers for a good price and I got them.
Pros: Nice sound Good price
Replaced Toyota 4runner factory speakers with these JBLs. The Highs and Mids are very Clear, the Lows are pretty good too. Running on aftermarket Pioneer supplying 50 watts power to them which is sufficient for me. Crutchfield is top notch for full customer experience. Diagram and instructions, as well as ordring and shipping was only 2 days! Ive been ordering with them for a few vehicles and highly recommend them to anyone! Keep up the great work!
Pros: Ease of install, supplied brackets and wires. Got them on sale.
Fit perfect in a 2008 Nissan Frontier front doors.
Pros: Great midrange and highs. Bass good.
Cons: They cam with no connectors or wiring so they had to be soldered. Unfortunate.
Great sound, impressive range and clarity for the price.
Great speakers, big improvement to factory bass in 2011 Tacoma. My only negative is that I still want more volume! Now I need to upgrade my head unit.
Pros: Great sound, high quality craftsmanship
Cons: None for the speakers, only my stock system
I have and will always be a JBL fan. I replaced my factory speakers on my 2010 Corolla with this awesome 6x9's. I could not imagined how cheap the factory speakers were until I removed them. The supplied speaker wires added to the pleasant install experience.
Pros: clear and crisp sound
Cons: Crutchfield recommends installing these speakers by drilling new holes. I purchased adapters plates from a separate site which made the install a lot easier and worth the price.
I really love these speakers, just the right bass and treble. Thinking of switching all other speakers to JBL brand.
Pros: Really great speakers
Big upgrade from factory speakers easy to install
Pros: Good sound full range
Cons: Needs more than normal volume to really sound great
Got these speakers to replace the stock front door units in a 2015 Outback. Speakers fit into existing openings and with the supplied mounting kit, pretty much bolted right up. The sound quality is head and shoulders above the stock speakers. I just disconnected the stock tweaters.
Pros: Easy to install, great sound.
I purchased these speakers based on other customer reviews stating that they had very good bass. After installation (with Pioneer MVH-X370BT), the highs and mids sound great, but does lack a deep thumping bass. The bass is there but sounds a bit flat. If you listen to music with a lot of bass, I would not recommend these speakers unless you have a sub. Overall, I am happy with the speakers, but if I had to do it again, I would purchase a different set of 6x9.
Pros: Great highs and mids
Cons: Lacks a deep bass
great sounds easy to install added a power pack and it makes a ton of difference.
Pros: great price great sound and easy to install.
Purchased these 6x9 speakers to replace the factory speakers in my nissan titan. First time purchasing any JBL speaker and I'm glad I did. The highs are crisp and clear. The midrange comes thru incredibly and the bass while not deep is quality without speaker popping or fuzzy sounding. But hey there 6x9's not 12 inch subwoofers! Would defiantly purchase JBL speakers again!
Pros: Clean highs Great midrange
Cons: Not the best bass but more than adequate.
Amazing sound highs and lows sound great glad I made this purchase for my dads '89 F-150
Decent speakers for the price i suppose. Thinking of returning for a better set.
Pros: Easy install
Cons: Bass isn't as good as i had hoped. Neither are the highs...
love the speakers, got 4 in my single cab Silverado. sounds great
Pros: delivery was fast, sales over the phone was very helpful as always . Buy all my stuff from Crutchfield
huge upgrade from factory. has a great sound. the mid and hi isn't overpowered
Speakers were great sound is awesome help was awesome the speakers I removed I don't know how music came out of them.
Pros: sound help deliverey
Great product, great sound in my 2012 corolla. I have the 6" in the front door and 6x9 in the rear, and the sound is great. Good depth from the 6x9's in both high and low frequency. Would buy them again.
Pros: Good response, good highs and lows. Great sounding all around.
Cons: Factory stereo/head unit doesn't push enough power to get out the full quality of speakers. Had to custom install and fit the speakers into the rear panel.
Great sound compared to the factory speakers they replaced. Crutchfield makes it so easy to install with the free hardware and instructions!
Pros: Price and sound quality
Cons: Would probably need a sub to complete the sound
Great improvement on the factory speakers on a 2015 Forester.
Pros: Nice sound, easy install.
Cons: With the included brackets the depth was close to the window glass.
I have like JBL for a long time and these are just another reason to keep using them. I installed them in the back dash of a 2010 Toyota Corolla with the GT7-6s in the front doors. As I have come to expect with JBL,they had great, clear and crisp sound. As a factory replacement they work great, but they are left wanting more power. Adding an amplifier would only make a great sound better.
Pros: Clear and Crisp Sound
I installed these speakers in my 2013 Toyota Prius III. The standard speakers are horrible as far as build quality. The magnet is glued to the back and is about 3 times smaller than anything I've seen. The sound was just OK but a little muddy. The JBL speakers made a world of difference but they didn't have much to prove against the stock speakers. The bass is solid and the midrange and high range are crisp and clear. If you have the standard paper speakers in your Toyota, you can't go wrong with these. I have yet to install the rear 6.6" JBL's but I'm sure the sound will be even better. Thanks to Crutchfield for providing the accessories and instructions to make the install easy.
Pros: Great Sound, Build Quality
Cons: None so far
2014 Silverado crew cab installed in front doors installed 6 3/4 JBLgt7-96 in rear door they rock with just factory unit will sound even better with amp to push these speakers to there full potential.
Pros: crutchfield customer service team send all the equitment needed for easy installation great service and fast delivery thank you so much.
Just bought a pair of these on an advisor recommendation and replaced the OEMs on a 1992 Honda Accord. Great sound - a ton better then the originals. You won't go wrong with these. Easy to install on the rear deck.
Pros: Great sound

THe sound quality or range will not be affected. It will require slightly more power from amp to achieve same db output at 4 ohm resistance. [ LARRY May 31, 2017 ]
I would guess they wouldn't be as loud as you may want. It will take more power to push to these speakers. It's not a huge Ohm difference but just depends on how much power you've got in my opinion. [ JAMIN Apr 11, 2017 ]
These speakers will almost certainly sound different, but it has very little to do with ohm's. It has been my experience that factory speakers, be it JBL, Bose, Sony, Infinity, etc., are almost ALWAYS regular, cheap paper speakers that have been "tuned" a little by these companies. These speakers will be much higher quality, the added ohm rating will simply put slightly more strain on a factory head unit. Pair these with a decent amp and they will blow you away. [ Austin Apr 11, 2017 ]
They are better quality than stock, if your amp'd they make a huge difference. If not the ssound quality is a little crisper than stock. [ ROBERT Apr 10, 2017 ]
Like most full-range car speakers, these JBLs are designed to work in an "infinite baffle" meaning; they do not require any specific enclosure or amount of airspace for optimum performance. I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5 [ Ryan Apr 22, 2016 ] Staff
