Hear what you're missing (without everyone else hearing it)

Wish you could sit back and enjoy your movies and shows late at night while actually hearing them? JBL's WR2.4 wireless headphones are an easy way to understand every word of dialogue clearly without having to wake sleeping children or spouses. Just connect the included wireless transmitter to your TV, turn on the headphones, and lose yourself in the show without any wires to worry about. Long-range listening from your computer or smartphone

These comfy headphones are also perfect for listening to music without being tethered to your portable music player. Just use the included cable to connect the transmitter to the headphone jack of your computer, iPod®, smartphone, or other device. Even if you get up and walk away — far away — from your music source to get a snack, you can keep listening. The WR2.4 headphones allow long-range wireless listening — up to 100 feet away — that Bluetooth® devices can't match.

What about batteries?

The WR2.4 headphones come with batteries that are both rechargeable and replaceable. Pop the rechargeable "AAA" batteries into the headphones, then place the headphones into the transmitter. Its form-fitting top cradles your headphones while charging the batteries. And when those batteries eventually start to lose some of their life, you can easily replace them as opposed to having to replace the headphones.

These headphones were for my 85 year old mother whose hearing isn't so good. She absolutely loves them and watches TV and knows what they're saying now!

Features

Overview: The JBL WR2.4 wireless headphones let you move freely without the constraints of a cord. The WR2.4s operate in the 2.4 GHz (UHF) frequency range to give you clear reception up to approximately 65 feet (20 meters). The headphones come with a wireless transmitter that doubles as a charging base, two "AAA" rechargeable batteries, a power supply, and a stereo 3.5mm-to-RCA adapter cable.

Drivers: The WR2.4 over-the-ear headphones feature large 40mm drivers in a lightweight semi-closed design. The 32-ohm drivers give you crystal-clear stereo for enjoying your music or watching your favorite movie or TV show.

Transmitter: The 2.4 GHz compact transmitter uses a digital wireless connection to stream the audio to the headphones without bothersome artifacts. The 65' range gives you plenty of room to move about. On the back, a switch lets you attenuate the input signal by -8dB for TVs, VCRs, DVDs, and other Hi-Fi sources. When connecting portable devices that typically have lower signal outputs, the attenuator switch should be set to 0dB. The transmitter has a stereo RCA input for connecting your audio source, and comes with a stereo 3.5mm-to-RCA adapter cable.

Power Requirements: The WR2.4 operates on two "AAA" Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) rechargeable batteries (supplied). The batteries will fully charge in approximately 5-7 hours (a 7-hour initial charge is recommended). Fully charged batteries will give you over 8 hours of continuous playback time. The transmitter/charger base is powered by an AC adapter with a 5-volt 550mA DC output.

LED Indicators: The WR2.4 headphones have a couple of LEDs to indicate the status of the product. When the headphones are powered on, a red LED will glow. The green Signal LED will flash when the wireless link is being established. Once the signal is established, the green LED will glow solid.

Specifications: The WR2.4 has the following specs:

  • Frequency Response: 18-20kHz
  • Signal-to-Noise Ratio (IHF-A): >75dB
  • Operating Distance: typically 20 meters/65 feet
  • Output SPL @ 1 kHz: 100 dB
  • Signal Latency: <80ms
  • Weight: 13 ounces
  • Transmitter Dimensions: Diameter: 5.468" Height=1.779"

Right in the comfort zone

Written by Ralph Graves, Staff Writer - Creative, on 8/30/2013 11:54:00 AM

I had an opportunity to try these headphones out in the Crutchfield Labs. In my opinion, the JBL WR2.4 wireless headphones do everything right. They sat very lightly on my head, with the foam earpads forming a tight seal around my ears. The volume control, built into the right earcup, was very easy to find and use by feel.

And the WR2.4's delivered on sound, too. In the Labs we have a lot of wireless components cluttering up the airways (far more than the average home). Yet the WR2.4's wireless 2.4GHz signal came through clear and clean. The music I auditioned sounded faithful to the source. That is, I could hear a difference between my high-resolution sound files and streaming audio from services like Pandora® Internet radio.

I also watched some videos, listening to the soundtracks through the headphones. The WR2.4's did an excellent job with dialog. I had no trouble hearing conversations, even when there was a lot of noisy action in the scene.

I would be happy to help but have no idea whether it would work. In addition, I tried three sets of the JBL WR2.4 and none worked for long. Jim [ James  Mar 14, 2014 ]
