Jensen's JCAM1 rear-view camera takes the guesswork out of backing up. The camera supplies a wide 130-degree horizontal view that's an invaluable aid when you shift into reverse in a tight spot.

Jensen's JCAM1 rear-view camera takes the guesswork out of backing up. The camera supplies a wide 130-degree horizontal view that's an invaluable aid when you shift into reverse in a tight spot.

Good But No Cigar

Patrick from Washington, DC on 3/27/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Jensen JCAM1 serves its minimal purpose - rear viewing. The 3"X3" instruction sheet did not provide alternative options for the Jensen JCAM1 mounting to obtain optimal rear imagery. The Jensen JCAM1's image is a bit pixelated (grainy) and does not provide guide parameters regarding actual distance from objects. The Jensen JCAM1 operates well enough to determine that an object is at the rear of the vehicle. The Jensen JCAM1 is at a great price point that will not strain your wallet and is simple to install providing you understand basic 12-volt and your head-unit's interface settings (i.e., trigger polarity, etc.).

Pros: Price point; relatively easy to install; serves minimal purpose (identification of objects in review view)

Cons: Instructions do not provide fidelity for novice installers; only one mounting option stated (dead center trunk/hatch lid); no guide lines; black and white image; no additional illumination

Could be better

Joe from Kent, OH on 10/15/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Not good at night.

Pros: Free with receiver purchase. Works good in daylight.

Cons: Doesn't work well in rain or at night. Poor picture quality.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great value backup camera. Nice long signal wire for large vehicles. Needed to supply a 20' 20 gauge wire to activate my Kenwood receiver from the backup bulb. The swivel head allows me to swivel down for trailer hitch and up for normal use. Only remove one barcode after it's tested, not that it's upside down:-)

Pros: Great value, wide angle. You get an idea how close you are to vehicle behind you.

Cons: It's not High Def.

Not bad

JB from Maple Grove, MN on 5/5/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed the camera on my Expedition. This unit works Ok. Not great, not terrible. Daytime viewing is really good. Nighttime gets pretty dark because the radio automatically dims when the lights are turned on. Not sure if I can change that or not. Worst part is the mounting expectations. Wiring connections are not waterproof. Comes with a small bracket to attach to something, but that leaves it hanging out and susceptible to being broken. Price was right (free with my radio) so can't complain too much.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It's an alright camera, it's nothing to get excited over. The first one didn't work, and it came free with a Jensen head unit is the only reason I have one on my Tacoma any way.

Pros: Super easy install, good picture, easy plug and play.

Cons: The first one didn't even work and the low light isn't the best, it could be due to the head unit to be fair.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Decent image (not as clear as I expected it) hard to see at night. The downside to this camera is that it doesn't come with built in guidelines which is the main feature of a rear-view camera. I was very disappointing since it makes it very hard to back up if you don't have a point of reference... The good thing about it is that it comes free when you buy a certain Jensen products!

Pros: Easy to install

Cons: No built in guidelines

My Camera also Leaked in Water. I think it came from the wires into the unit. Also worked great for 9 months. Took it apart, cleaned it, and sealed the wires. We'll see.

Pros: good picture.

Cons: Not weathproof

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very pleased with this camera. I mounted it under the rear bumper and it provides a great view.

Pros: Very good picture and angle. Has no problem with providing a good picture at night with the light from the back-up lights.

Cons: None.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Finally took the time to install my Jenson rear view camera. Very easy to install to my system. Wiring very direct and easy. Routing wiring from rear wheels back on my Avalanche took time making sure everything was wire tied and secure. Camera is very clear and my wife says she is going to really like it when backing up the large vehicle. No problems yet and dont anticipate any.

Pros: Clear pic on monitor,,,,easy to operate

Cons: Istructions say connections are not waterproof and should be made inside vehicle,,,used waterproof tape and wrapped all connections when routing wiring.

Awesome Backup Camera

Pros: Easy to install. Optional installation methods. All cables included. Nice wide-angle view. Works perfect!

Cons: No zoom control

Simple camera

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

As I decided on the Jensen VM9324 for my 2005 Tacoma DoubleCab TRD-Sport, suddenly Crutchfield offered this Jensen camera free. I love it so far. I must say, I wouldn't pay this much for it. It's a simple fish-eye lens, with no markers or guidelines built in. This doesn't give you much in terms of versatility. It comes with 1 piece of 2-sided stick tape shaped like the base that the camera sits on & 2 holes for 2 screws. I installed the camera next to my trailer hitch as far down on the rubberized plastic part that sits in the middle of my bumper above my hitch & below my license plate. There is a sticker on either side of the camera, 1 came off easily, the other did not (says, "warranty void if removed" which is stupid because it's on the top side for all to see). So I took that off & it removed the paint! I tried to use black metal paint, but it just didn't want to be painted. So I used paint thinner & carefully made it look like the top of the camera was stainless steel (which it is). Looks fine. If you install the camera as it looks in this Crutchfield picture, the image will be looking left but will be upside down! ;-) All you have to do is swivel the camera to the position you want then tighten the screws on the side (shown as the chrome/silver screws in the Crutchfield pic above). I used 5 min epoxy on those 2, as well as the 2 screws that I used to screw into my bumper just for extra reinforcement.

Easy to install. Mounted to Civic license panel and looks factory and works like a charm. Tapped into purple and gray wire, after checking left reverse lamp power.
