Our take on the Jensen VX4025

When I look at the bland dashboards in many cars, one of the first things that springs to my mind is how much nicer they'd look if that dull plastic was replaced with something that had a little more appeal — something like a DVD receiver with a touchscreen control paneI, naturally. Even if you're working with a limited budget, Jensen's put that vision in reach with their VX4025 DVD receiver. Though the price tag isn't too daunting, the VX4025 offers up some pretty cool features, with connections and capabilities that'll let you enjoy both great looks and great functionality.

Bluetooth® frees the hands

Bluetooth lets you take and make calls while keeping your hands on the wheel when talking — an awesome safety feature when you're navigating through your daily commute. An outboard microphone ensures excellent call quality, even in noisy vehicles. And with Bluetooth, you'll stream music from your smartphone without plugs, cables, or clutter, so you can enjoy your music library, podcasts, or your favorite music apps tangle-free.

Multimedia on demand

Of course the VX4025 will play nearly any kind of disc, store-bought or home-burned. But for more options, the front USB input lets you pull songs from your thumb drive, Android™ phone, iPod®, or iPhone®. If you're a Pandora® fan, you can tap into your favorite playlists while you're on the road with your iPhone (via USB) or Android (with Bluetooth). Front and rear A/V inputs, along with a micro-SD slot for music and images, offer even more options.

With an optional SiriusXM tuner you'll enjoy over 100 channels of music, news, talk, and sports. A dedicated input on the rear panel that accepts an optional rear-view camera, so you can back out of your parking space or driveway with confidence.

Want to keep your steering wheel audio controls?

Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

Good solid head unit, easy install and works as advertised.

Pros: Simple and easy to navigate thru the menu

Cons: illumination does not dim when lights are turned on (and yes i hooked up the orange wire), does not display info from my phone like contacts or music. Bluetooth pairing pin should not be 5309, jensen should make the pin a simple number like 1234.

    2006 Toyota Highlander
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A good receiver, but doesn't display artist/track info while playing via Bluetooth. I have installed a couple of older and cheaper units that do (in different vehicles), so it boggles my mind that this one cannot. Heck, even recent factory systems can do that. What a waste of a nice big screen - the Bluetooth screen shows a static set of bars that appear to be mimicking sound levels, but they don't actually change based on the music.

Pros: Nice screen, good sound. Installation in my 2006 Toyota Highlander was mostly straightforward (thanks to tech support from Crutchfield for a little advice!). Paired easily with my Nexus 5X.

Cons: Bluetooth doesn't display artist/track info. Also, the unit does not remember your volume setting and starts pretty loud when you turn it on. Apparently, a firmware update will set the default volume level a bit lower.

Installation instructions were easy, modifying my Avalon for a Double din was simple also. I added a backup camera and it works great.

Pros: Radio plays well and it's easy to program my stations. I'm still playing with the other options.

Cons: What I don't like is the Bluetooth display when I'm playing music from my cell phone. it won't show a playlist. what it's showing is this EQ graph that doesn't move.

Good solid radio so far. The placement of the Automatic Scan button is poor at best. The Auto Scan button scans the available channels at that particular time and location and resets all of your presets to those stations. The AS button is constantly at the bottom center of the screen and if you happen to reach over and change the station, hit a bump, and hit the AS by accident, it changes all your stations! This command should be hidden in a menu and left that position open for something else or nothing at all! Reception isn't as good as the stock radio but I can live with that. Besides having to reset all of my presets more than once, the radio works fine.

    Feature packed, awesome sound

John from Chippewa Falls, WI on 11/3/2016

    2006 Ford Expedition
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed a double-din receiver that would support the steering wheel controls, have front USB for my music thumbdrive, rear Aux input for the rear DVD entertainment system, subwoofer connection for my factory sub, and support rear camera. This simply does it all! With all that, there were some adapters and lots of wires to connect so it was not trivial, but it's worth the extra work to have everything integrated and working so well. I needed a couple of calls to tech support with wiring questions and got answers quickly. Those guys really are experts on all their products and they're actually happy to have you call them. I really like the 32G microSD card for my music since it's hidden away so I don't have a USB drive sticking out anymore. The volume knob is much nicer than the touch-screen volume on other units. The 10-band equalizer and separate sub volume control allow me to tweak the sound to just my liking and it really brings the Polk DB572 speakers and Kicker sub to life. Amazing sound! The touch-screen icons make adjusting settings simple with no tricky menus to wade through. Though, the main screen has two pages of icons so it would be nice if I could control the arrangement to have the ones I use all on the first page. One bonus is when I turn the headlights on, the screen dims so it's not so bright at night. Setting the default turn-on volume is also handy and I like the ability to customize background and illumination color.

Pros: All the features I could have thought of and then some. Ability to connect lots of things. Amazing sound. Easy to use.

Cons: Would like control what order it plays music. Main screen has 2 pages of icons and I'd like to organize icons so the ones I use are all on the first page.

Best BANG for the buck. You can buy more expensive, but you won't get better quality. Great sound and very customizable. The multimedia features are limited only by the size of your library. Most units on the market have front usb, but this one also supports up to a 32Gb micro sd card. Music, videos, photos, audio books, you name it. aside from MP3 players and phones, the front usb also supports portable hard drives, so you can take all of your favorite movies on the road without the clutter of DVD's. I haven't tried playing MP4 movies yet, so even if I have to convert them to MPEG, it's still well worth the price.

Pros: Multiple front inputs, great sound and awesome video resolution. Fun to set up with almost zero learning curve. Reasonably priced and has features that are not present in units costing much more.

    Cons: None that I've found.

Great sound and lots of ways to play music!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When I was looking for a new car stereo, I wanted Bluetooth but it wasn't my biggest wish. There are several items that drew me to this unit instead of a lot of the others on the market. first of all, it has a volume knob. This may not seem like a big deal but in practical use, it's a feature that's really overlooked on most of the players out there. The additional features that I really wanted were, an SD card slot (again, a feature missing from most units), Touchscreen, Bluetooth, a USB input that's actually accessible from the front panel, an audio input on the front panel and a remote. Jensen has been around for years and they've always had good products. This one is no different. The sound of this guy is fantastic (even with my stock speakers). It includes a 10 band graphic equalizer and a Loudness button. I'm very happy with the sound and there's plenty of power behind it. I can turn it up about halfway and that's as far as I ever needed to go. My only complaint is that when playing from SD card, it doesn't sort artists alphabetically, it sorts them by the date stamp when the file was written to the card. 32GB of music, and the sort is based on the file date... useless. But it does read and display the file metadata which is a huge plus. The Bluetooth features are good, but by no means all inclusive. You can't add apps to it, or text, but it does come with Pandora already installed. All in all a great head unit, customizable colors and backgrounds to

Pros: Reads home burned discs. Many different ways to play music. Plenty of power. Really nice touchscreen display.

Cons: Doesn't sort SD card artists or songs in the track order, or even alphabetically, it sorts them based on the date they were written to the SD card.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall this is a great little stereo I put it in a 2005 Toyota RAV4 and the installation was pretty easy except for the wiring. The only complaint I have is how slow it is to start up and start playing music it's probably a good 10 to 20 seconds before it responds when I turn on the car other than that it's awesome !

Pros: Sounds great--nice screen--easy to add backup camera to.

Cons: Slow response--takes awhile to "boot up" and play.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just installed it so I can't give a good "ease of use" review. Didn't have to remove the supports like the instructions said. Installed a $20 backup camera and didn't get a great picture but believe it is a result of the camera or the fault of having to extend the camera cable. So far the sound is great but I need to download a user guide to figure out how to work all the features. So far I would buy this again for another vehicle if I needed another head unit. Installation took longer than I figured but I had to do it again I could do it quicker. Haven't had any of the problems others have reported

    Pros: Relatively easy to install.

    Cons: None so far.

    2011 Nissan Pathfinder

I installed this in my 2011 Nissan Pathfinder. Just follow the wiring diagram and everything will work if you do it right. I had one issue, radio reception was not good; I called Crutchfield turns out the Blue Wire on the antenna that plugs into the back of the head unit needs to be connected to the blue wire in the wiring loom as it is an antenna booster. I did that POW radio reception is clear and crisp. I recommend if you have a 05-12 Pathfinder do not buy the plastic dash kit and just get the wiring harness. The dash kit is useless and a waste of money as the head unit bolts to the stock brackets makes for secure tight fit with no trim ring needed and all the gaps are tight. The blue tooth paired with my S7 and works great and phone calls are clear and crisp. Love the head unit. Color, sound and touch feedback is excellent. I paired the radio with JBL speakers I installed and it's a great sounding system. Just an fyi the pink wire is the parking brake wire so if you want to watch DVD's without having to put the car in park and engaging the parking brake just ground the pink wire, and guess what DVD's will play even if the care is in motion. I do not recommend watching DVD's while watching. I did it so when I drive the kiddos they can watch and listen to a DVD

Pros: sound, bluetooth, dvd, backup camera optional, touchscreen, expandability, front inputs USB, SD Card AUX input

    Cons: nothing yet

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installation was easy and the unit went in without a problem. The only two issues were the hookups for the DVD and back up camera leads. There were no instructions as to where to attach the leads. A Crutchfield Rep walked me through the wiring and then added instructions for these two leads. I wish the clock was a little bigger but overall I am very satisfied with the unit.

Pros: Lot of great features and easy to use

    Cons: Clock could be bigger.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Really happy with the radio so far. Have not tried the DVD yet, but everything else works as advertised. Some reviews have complained about being able to see the screen in the sunlight. I have not had much of an issue with it. It is not much different than our factory Chrysler unit. BT for the phone works really well. More than 1 person has been surprised I was not actually talking on my phone. Radio reception is not great, but not terrible. Crutchfield install info was great.

    Pros: Price, options, BT capability

Cons: Radio reception. Takes 5-10 sec to start up when you start the truck.

    2011 Suzuki Kizashi
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this stereo in a 2011 Suzuki Kizashi that previously only had an AM/FM, CD/MP3 until with no Bluetooth or Satellite radio retaining the stock speakers. The sound quality for CD/MPS and Ipod are comparable to the original Panasonic unit, though the Satellite radio sounds compressed(as it does in my other car playing through a separate Sirius radio unit), so I suspect that its probably more of any issue on Sirius' end. The AM/FM stations are not as clear as with the original unit, which I noted in reviews prior to purchase, but I generally don't listen to regular stations, so its a non-issue. The unit is nicely constructed and the buttons and volume knob feel substantial. The touch screen is responsive for the most part and retaining the function of my steering wheel controls is a plus, though the "mode" key works intermittently(again, not likely an issue with the unit). All in all, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a reasonably priced touch screen unit.

Pros: Nice looking unit with a lot of features....brings my car up to par with Bluetooth, Satellite, etc.

    Cons: Nothing worth noting

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This head unit was installed into my 17 year old son's 2003 Honda Civic Coupe replacing the original radio. I am writing this review because A. I bought this as a Christmas Present for him and B. We installed it together. I have to say, this was a great experience and it was nice to see that a trusted name like Jensen is still a solid choice. The installation was very easy...probably took an hour and a half that included the simple wire connection with the harness kit. The look, fit and finish of the Jensen is impressive for an entry level head unit. The bluetooth syncs up well and the equalizer function gives you the ability to balance out your music easily. overall this was perfect and appears that Jensen still has it! I could tell my son who is a music appreciator was quite happy with the selection of Jensen and thats what matter the most.

Pros: Great looking with attractive wallpapers and easy installation.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this to upgrade the stock stereo in my scion xd and it was absolutely an upgrade! I compared MANY units to find the right fit for me, and this was the only one that had ALL of the following: 1 - video / touch screen 2 - USB port on the front 3 - MicroSD (BIG plus on this one!) 4 - Bluetooth 5 - hardware volume knob (you don't know how much you'll miss this in traffic when you need to kill the volume quickly!) 6 - satellite radio support My scion radio sounded weak; I could never get a good sound from it. once they put this in it was like a whole new car. I'm not sure if the original was wired incorrectly or if it was just a bad config (probably my fault) but the new unit sounds LOUD and clear. I would only change two things: 1 - video appears to be picky, won't play mp4 which is pretty much all I have. I didn't buy this unit for video tho so I don't really care, but it would be nice if I could just pop in my files and go 2 - Windows Phone support is minimal. it does work (amazingly!), but only the very basic features like calling and streaming audio playing on the device (which truthfully is all i need). no support for pandora, and you don't get any info about what is playing on your phone. This was disappointing, but honestly entirely expected. the fact that it works at all is a plus.

Pros: touch screen shuffle play whole drive (not just a folder) bluetooth works with windows phone (barely!) hardware volume knob

Cons: windows phone support is extremely limited doesn't play mp4 videos Mp3 meta tags limited to track, artist, and album art (no year, genre, etc)

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this to replace the stock radio in a 2006 Honda Ridgeline. The Jensen seems to be a high quality features rich radio system. I added XM and steering wheel functions. The only thing I did not do when I installed it was connect the Blue antenna wire on the adaptor to the blue power antenna wire on the Jensen. That powers the Honda antenna amp and without that no stations work. once I took that apart and connected the blue wires everything is great.

Pros: USB in the front along with the 3.5mm jack. Plays nice with the IPhone 6S. Good sound quality. XM works great with all info on the screen.

Cons: It does not interface my existing factory Sub so I would have to buy a new one when the factory one was fine.

Pros: I love everything about it

Cons: If I had to write one small con, it would be having to double tap on the screen because it can be a little slow at times, which can sometimes become a nuisance, but overall, I cannot complain and have had no problems. I love my radio and am very satisfied

This is one of the few touch screen units that has a volume knob and iPhone/AUX access from the front. The sound is great, and the menus are easy to navigate. You get total control of any Apple device when using the USB port, and the Bluetooth calling feature works great. We later installed a subwoofer, and the ability to control it from the head unit is a real plus.

Pros: Great Sound, front-facing USB and AUX, volume knob. Screen background can be customized by uploading your own background using the SD card slot. Subwoofer controls built into both Audio Settings and Fader functions.

Cons: Takes about 3 seconds to switch between radio stations or songs on iPod. Not a big deal to me.

    Pros: ease of install, features

    Don't Buy This Product

    AO from Maryland on 12/29/2015

Absolute garbage. Probably the worst thing I've ever bought for the money. Dash installation kit was flimsy and cheap. My steering wheel controls didn't work, even with the adapter kit that was sent with the radio. It required modifications to be compatible with my A6 and after week, the radio wouldn't work about 75% of the time and if it did, it would come on randomly at top volume. Two ground loop isolators didn't get rid of the static buzzing and the quality was garbage from the radio. I was extremely relieved to get my stock head unit back into my car after getting rid of this overpriced child's toy.

Pros: Looks decent, no gimmicky LED lighting, made me learn to appreciate my stock head unit and how less garbage it is.

Cons: Required soldering to get it to work with my car, horrible interface, frustrating channel selection controls, laggy screen, aux location makes it hard to shift with a phone plugged in, feels flimsy, bad audio quality.

All the necessary hard ware was included to use this unit with the existing Bose amplifiers. Had to call Crutchfield 2x for assistance and was amazed at how easy it was to get my issues resolved! Major plus when doing the work yourself! back to the unit, many complain about the brightness of the display but this was not the case with ours. Perfect is about where i would put it. Having an actual volume knob is a major plus for me (old school). The EQ was actually really easy to use and the bluetooth connectivity was extremely simple. i come from a generation where Jenson was frowned upon but no longer, very happy!!!

Following all the installation instructions the unit work first time and pleased with the first off performance. Just have to play with it to get it programed to my likes. Don't recall were the recommendation was to solder all the connections, but thanks. There was only one connection that a plastic splice was used and the initial programing of the ASWC-1 indicated an error in the wiring and after that connect was soldered everything perfectly.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A lot to like, but could be better. Installed on a Suzuki Equator (clone of Nissan Frontier) along with a backup camera. Crutchfield instructions could have been better, with two additional screws needed to remove the OEM unit, but I figured it out with the help of an online video. Looks good and most features work as advertised. My main gripe: Display could be brighter, and there is a wire out of the unit that instructions say is for dimming, but dimming dash lights has no effect. Also, you can easily change Wallpaper from the main screen, but to change screen brightness you have to go in to the General submenu to change (about 4-5 screen touches). Why not either utilize input to have unit work with the car dimmer, or put screen brightness control on main screen?

Pros: Great bang for the buck. Backup camera works well with this unit. Can upgrade software with SD card. Can also change wallpaper with personal photo using SD card (according to manual, I haven't tried yet). Hope to change to 4 or 5 stars if software update can fix issues.

Cons: Screen not bright enough in bright sun. Brightness control not easily changed without (distracting) menu hopping. On my Moto G Android the USB doesn't work to play music (but does charge). On my son's ipod it works fine. Bluetooth sometimes clips audio. I believe the last 2 are Android issues rather than the unit.

There have been several times when the system comes on but I cannot get any sound. I have to turn the vehicle off then back on again to fix the issue. The time can be set in the settings, but it changes itself back to an hour ahead of whatever time I set on it. It would be nice if when I turn the volume down, it stayed at the setting I put it on before I turned off the vehicle. Instead of blaring at a higher volume than I set. Also, it cannot be turned off, only muted. There is also no control of the volume when my phone rings during usage of the blue-tooth. It kills the music and echos the phone's ringtone at full volume which scares the crap out of you when you are driving and not expecting it. Could conceivably cause an accident for the inexperienced driver.

Cons: Ipod options: going through song lists, playlists etc requires two presses of each selection, not sure why if this is a intended feature/function but not liking it much. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I did quite a bit of comparison on the site for 2x din head units at its price range. Nothing comes close to its feature. For the money, I get bluethooth, RDS, and loads of inputs in front (microSD, 3.5mm, USB). Once I installed it, I feel my purchase was right. It was easy to install, manual was decent. Super easy. Sadly, I can not seem to unlock its hidden manual, if there is one. So I would appreciate it if someone can let me know. As for the external bluetooth mic, I just drilled through the dash adapter bracket and cushion it with a roll of rubber insulation tape. It is still too early to conclude if it is good. I will use it for a while and report back. So far, music via USB is fine. But it takes a bit to turn on after ignition. And somehow, the time was lost a few days after I set it. It still retained year and date. I will keep an eye on it.

Pros: great feature, good touch screen, easy to navigate, good sound, and looks good. Bluetooth works fine.

Cons: Super thin non-copper wires: cheapness! Horribly designed remote. And Limited video format it supports. It claims to support WMA and AVI. But the WMA music video files I loaded are not supported. As for the AVI movie files, only about 75% work. But then again, every other head unit in this category are the same. I have to get to the Calrion head unit that is more expensive for it to support MP4 & MKV video files. So I can't really knock on it too much.

    It's decent!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this for a 2003 Ford Ranger beater truck that I just bought because the stock headunit couldn't utilize my iPhone in anyway (cd player only, no cassette player to plug my phone into). I wanted the Jensen headunit to be able to play music off of my iphone and make/accept phone calls. I was sold on the blue tooth, touch screen features along with the mic and reverse camera, USB and AUX inputs. The install was fairly straight forward and easy. After install I realized that blue tooth can only be used for phone calls and not music. You cant customize the main menu as far as what icons you want to see. I can plug my iPhone into the headunit via USB cable, but as soon as I plug it in, my music that's stored directly on my phone starts playing... and it's always the first song alphabetically, so it's always the same song every time I plug it in. The interface seems kind of clunky, not smooth like a smart phone. I wish the screen would also auto dim. I put it on night driving after I installed it, then the next morning I couldn't see anything after I already started to drive to work and couldn't fiddle with it in the middle of my commute. Overall I feel like it's decent for the money. I do feel like I should have just spent the extra money on something better.

Pros: It's decent. It's touch screen. It has USB, and AUX inputs in the front of the unit. It accepts reverse camera and has a mic input in the back. Easy to install. Sound quality is a much improvement over stock. Build quality seems pretty good.

Cons: Blue tooth is only for phone calls and not for music. No auto dimming screen, makes it hard to go from night to day time driving. Interface seems clunky, not as refined as a smart phone. The main menu is not customizable as far and placement of icons. Plugging in the phone via USB automatically causes your on storage music to start playing, why?!?! Pandora has to be launched on your phone while it's plugged in via USB. It's decent... could be a lot better.

OK folks, I am not a stereo buff. I have a GMC truck with OEM double din radio and wanted something that had Bluetooth capabilities. In my opinion, BT is poor at best for this head unit! I have used my MP3 player to connect to BT radios of other brands and vehicles before, and they worked great (OEM units). I use the MP3 to play tunes. Whatever is on my MP3 players screen, is duplicated on the other brands double-din head units -- but not this Jensen. First, it takes several steps (including some 4-digit code you must enter) to pair. Then when it is paired, all you get is the privilege of using the vehicles speakers! Nothing else. When you disconnect, and then reconnect, you must go through the whole process again! The second pet-peeve is the clock. My OEM clock shows time in large LED format when the vehicle is running (radio off) and when the radio is on. Jensen has a very tiny clock in the upper right-hand corner and is only on when the radio is on. Bummer! Now for the radio and all of the bells and whistles -- these features are great. And for any of you who have the problem of the volume defaulting to VERY LOUD when you first turn unit on -- Crutchfield can provide you with info on fixing that problem. One more thing to consider, I could not get the Metra SWC kit to work -- even after calling Metra techs or Crutchfield techs. And finally, Jensen has been purchased by another conglomerate who does not seem interested in helping the customer.

Pros: Great radio with many good features USB and Micro plug connection is upfront behind a pop-out cover - as opposed to a wire that hangs beneath your dash

Cons: BT is not worth its salt Clock is worthless

First of all no matter which theater you're buying and if you are installing yourself I encourage you to buy from Crutchfield their tech support and help during this process was on match from anything you can find out there. I bought this stereo to replace my stock Dodge Ram factory radio. Crutchfield is now stocking the bezel for my truck which is great. His radio was a great addition at a great price. It probably on the lower end of more expensive stereos however if you are looking to upgrade this is a good option for the price. Stereo had the same features of others which are much more money.

Pros: Good price. Good features. The support you get from Crutchfield is unmatched I have been a customer for some time and will return because of their great customer support. I called them five different times during the install over two days and they were extremely helpful and friendly.

Cons: There are not too many times that I can think of. The wire harness that came with the radio wires were a little bit short and did not come with an extended brake wire which meant I had to run out and buy additional wire.

Installed this radio in my 2005 Pontiac GTO. had a few problems getting this radio to fit in my car as the front dash trim wouldnt quite fit over the radio at first. the radio needed to be pushed back farther than i expected and i needed to sand down the back of the dash kit that i ordered with it, but this is more an issue with my car rather than the radio. got the steering wheel controls programmed just fine and everything works. overall i am very pleased with the install. radio looks clean and not super flashy. would look nearly stock if it wasnt for the shiny plastic up front. i cant comment much on sound quality because my GTO comes with pretty lame speakers from the factory.

Pros: clean look. relatively responsive touch screen compared to other radios ive seen and played around with in the same price braket. good screen resolution. well designed and good looking interface.

Cons: bluetooth seems to be delayed a few seconds, for example when i change songs it starts 2-3 seconds into the song rather than from the beginning (HTC M8). volume is automatically at roughly 30 % loudness upon start up, dont know what thats all about.

I put this stereo in to replace the stock stereo in my Subaru Impreza. The install was pretty straight forward, and I utilized the Crutchfield tech support to answer a few questions during the install to avoid any flaws. It works great and looks professional in the car. My advice is always to get your stereo from Crutchfield since it will come in a box with everything you need. Personally, I like that the AUX/USB input is on the front of the stereo but some may not like that you have to keep the door open while your electronics are plugged in. There are 5 options for your wallpaper and to me none of them are that great. I like to keep it simple and clean, and they just kind of look like your typical aftermarket teenager style. I would prefer just a black background.

Pros: Easy to install. The Crutchfield tech support is very helpful. This was my first time installing an after market stereo and it was pretty painless. All features work great, user friendly design, and the price is right.

Cons: Not great wallpaper choices, it does take a few seconds to start up, sometimes slow to respond when clicking on screen and I have to click twice.

Do not buy this radio. I put this in myself (just like many others I've done over the years) and half the steering wheel controls didn't work. I contacted the help desk from the adapter and together we ruled out issues with that. I finally got so frustrated that i paid to have it professionally installed (which I've Never had to do) and still couldn't get all the buttons to work. It turns out that this is a common problem with this unit and with Jensen. The other "fun" common problem with these units is that when you turn the car on the volume goes all the way to MAX. Spend the extra money and get something that works.

    Pros: Nice display, low price

CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the VX4025 are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers. The power output specs for the VX4025 are as follows:

    • CEA2006 Specs: 13 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Maximum Power Output: 40 watts x 4 channels (160 watts total)

Wanted a clean yet sophisticated radio upgrade for my 2007 Camry LE. The features are on point, the design is clean (none of those fancy light shows), there's Bluetooth, and a huge screen. [ GWENDOLYN  Apr 02, 2016 ]
    Product specifications [ Keith C.  Mar 18, 2016 ]
Best price for the features I was looking for in a replacement head unit; especially like the front inputs, most competitors only have rear inputs. Also like the volume knob instead of buttons. All other features were virtually the same as competitor brands but lower price. I also think a Jensen is less likely to be stolen, I wish someone would make a double-din replacement head unit with a flashing security light when anti-theft is armed, I will miss that feature of the factory unit. [ Jay  Mar 10, 2016 ]
Has all the features that I wanted [ Cosby  Dec 31, 2015 ]
    Cool looking [ Paige  Dec 23, 2015 ]
Very nice deck. Has all of the features I need and more [ Oran  Dec 12, 2015 ]
Good value with lots of front inputs, bluetooth hands-free and playback, support for Pandora, IMHO best bang for the buck, plan to add rear camera option later nice to know it supports it. [ Michael  Dec 03, 2015 ]

No, the clock is only displayed with the radio on [ Keith  Jan 18, 2017 ]
I Don't think so. When i don't want to listen to the radio i choose to mute it. So i keep the radio on while my vehicle is on. I'm very happy with this product. It has a few quirks but they all do. For the money it's a bargain. [ DAVID  Jan 18, 2017 ]

Yes, it is one of the reasons why I got it. You need to be sure that every song has that information in the id3 tag. One thing that I noticed is that some album covers are half garbled, where the bottom half of the picture looks messed up. Hope this helps. [ Dan F.  Oct 17, 2016 ]
I play music from the SD card. If song, artist, and album are included in the metadata for the music file, they will display. [ Michael  Oct 17, 2016 ]
This receiver's front panel 3.5mm input does take in stereo audio and composite video signals. You will need to get cabling to join the 3.5mm stereo output and composite video port to one 3.5mm A/V connection and then your Raspberry PI should display on the Jensen receiver's screen. If you need help getting the cables together, feel free to call 1-800-324-9695 to speak with an advisor. HTH! My Bio: [ Paul  Aug 15, 2016 ]  Staff

Yes it does. I recently installed one on my truck. [ Eric  Mar 12, 2016 ]
It is quite versatile, with lots of options when you install it to work with or without additional amps. If you use the subwoofer out, you will need an amp for that. I bought this for a gift, so I didn't install it myself. My son is using it in an '04 Expedition with only a subwoofer amp. [ Gary  Feb 25, 2016 ]
No its not required [ Steven  Feb 25, 2016 ]
No. I replaced my stock 4 channel factory radio with this receiver and am very pleased with it. You can add a amp later , cause it has the connecto. [ DAVID  Feb 25, 2016 ]
No amplifier is needed. I installed mine in Oct 2015 and it works fine with no amp. [ John  Feb 25, 2016 ]
If you want a subwoofer, yes. Otherwise, no. [ Jesse  Feb 25, 2016 ]
Mine sounds great w/o an amp hooked up [ Lance  Feb 25, 2016 ]
    You could! [ jason L.  Feb 25, 2016 ]
Hi there. Glad you asked that. I use the MicroSD and the USB card primarily for music, but they both operate the same. I have played audio books in the past, and both music/audio books in MP3 resume in the spot that they left off. It's kind of funny, though - the audio books that I have listened to (usually an 8hr average book) will resume a few minutes earlier. It's good if you are resuming the track if you want to be reminded on what you were listening to, but if you do a lot of stop and go (like I did; I had a lot of stops and had to turn my engine off), this got quite annoying. Nevertheless, the mp3 track resumed where it left off (sort of). I still do definitely recommend this unit. By the way, there is an update to the software, which I have done. If there is any new changes, I will definitely update my review. [ Dan F.  Feb 16, 2016 ]
I;ve not tried audio books, but my music starts back up exactly where it was when I shut the car off, usually right in the middle of a song. [ Michael  Feb 15, 2016 ]
Wiring is a bit confusing but it took me about two hours from start to finish. With the wiring taking up over an hour [ Kevin  Jan 03, 2016 ]
Not sure. I had it professionally installed. [ Brandon  Dec 30, 2015 ]
I did not install. On count it was just a hair to big for my car. But if I did I would say roughly 25-30mins depending on how well you are with doing radios. [ HENRY C  Dec 30, 2015 ]
    took about an hour in a 2006 charger [ Craig  Dec 30, 2015 ]
I recently bought this radio for my son's truck for Christmas... We opted to keep all the steering wheel controls and functions so we used the wiring harness kit that allows you to make the connections needed. Every wire matched color for color, soldered each and taped, plugged in and tested, from beginning to end it took 2 hours to install. [ Mark  Dec 29, 2015 ]
Varies... depends on your vehicle, how long it takes to remove and replace your vehicle specific fascia to remove old head unit, also factor it how long it takes to crimp together wiring harness for easy connections to vehicle oem connections. On vehicle I added this to.. all in with some troubleshooting of crimped connections not being completely crimped (my error)... took about 2.5 hours... but I was crimping while watching a movie so who knows how much moving watching I was doing versus actually working... so there may be 15 or mins that don't need to be [ Michael  Dec 29, 2015 ]
    3 hrs [ John  Dec 29, 2015 ]
The longest prep time was for the wiring harness connection to go from OEM to the VX2015. I like to solder connections and then use heat shrink tubing and it was a fun project so I took my time. I would say about 1 and 1/2 hours to prep the harness (I actually just worked on it on and off for a couple of days), but if you use the crimp connectors about 20 to 30 minutes. The actual radio install then only took about 30-40 minutes. I did read and re-read the instructions three to four times just to make sure I understood them. It helped to watch the install videos that are on line. [ Thomas  Dec 29, 2015 ]
In my Jeep wrangler 2007 approximately 1.5 hours. Hard job is removed original radio base. [ Rafael  Dec 29, 2015 ]
If you get the right harnesses and you're skill level is amateur it'll probably take 1-2 hours. [ Chad  Dec 29, 2015 ]
I'm sure it will take 3.0 drives, but they will not operate at USB 3.0. Most likely USB 2.0. You will not notice this difference anyways, as you are only playing audio/video files. [ Dan F.  Feb 16, 2016 ]
The Jensen VX4025's front-panel USB (type-A) port enables connection and control of a portable USB mass-storage class (MSC) device and supports playback of MP3/WMA audio files recorded in FAT16 or FAT32, JPEG still image and MPEG/AVI/Xvid video playback. USB 3.0 was designed for backward compatibility with USB 2.0 (or earlier) Type-A plugs and receptacles, so that shouldn't be any concern for you. [ Larry  Dec 30, 2015 ]  Staff
I am using entry level 6" Kenwoods along with my MTX sub. It sounds great! [ Dan F.  Feb 16, 2016 ]
VX 4025 works well with OEM speakers or go with JBL. [ WILLIAM B  Dec 14, 2015 ]

It has a separate Subwoofer Bass and an Equalizer [ Lance  Dec 15, 2015 ]
no only can control base through eq adjustments. I have a bazoka tube where I have to control base from sub [ Mark  Dec 12, 2015 ]
technically no. Has a sub level then a equilizer u can adjust. also sub frequency. [ Adam  Dec 11, 2015 ]
One note - the Sub output is MONO only - kind of an odd design. It works fine, but I would have preferred both L & R channels. [ Dan F.  Feb 16, 2016 ]
yes. there is a separate cable harness specifically for an amp and other speakers. If you go to Jensen's web page, and input the model number, then the download for wiring diagram, it will show you what outputs are available. [ S.  Nov 21, 2015 ]
    Yes you can [ MATTHEW  Nov 21, 2015 ]
    yes....the unit has 3 a/v outputs [ Travis  Nov 20, 2015 ]
Yes it does. The good thing about this brand is the inputs for a 3.5mm jack and a USB input are NOT hanging from a wire in the back of a set, but rather upfront behind a door on the lower right hand front side of the unit. If you would visit one of your local audio stores, they should have this model on their display panel. There you can see how to access the hidden ports. [ S.  Nov 21, 2015 ]
Yes, behind the USB port. I recommend this unit - sounds great and it does what I need it to do. [ Dan F.  Oct 07, 2015 ]
YEs it does, along with usb. Unit is "android" friendly. Good unit. [ Timothy  Oct 05, 2015 ]
There are two types of aftermarket SWC packages available that I am aware of: PAC and Metra. PAC is what Jensen recommends for this model in their installation manual. I purchased the Metra brand, and had difficulty with programming. Perhaps it was my application, because I have heard good reports from both. [ S.  Nov 21, 2015 ]
I haven't purchased the Subaru steering wheel control converter yet, so I don't know what buttons will work. [ Dan F.  Oct 07, 2015 ]
I do not have steering wheel control i have base model tacoma this unit will let u program those buttons to work with special wire harness [ CHRIS R  Jul 25, 2015 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Greg  Jul 21, 2015 ]  Staff
I am not aware that this can be done. But in todays technology, anything is possible. Suggest you contact Jensen technical support for an answer. Keep in mind that there are two divisions, one for RV's, and the other for automotive. [ S.  Nov 21, 2015 ]
Not this model. the model one step up I think has this feature. [ Dan F.  Oct 07, 2015 ]
When I have my iPhone 5s connected by BT and use the Google Maps app, the voice commands come through the stereo but the map is not displayed. The receiver screen shows only that the phone is connected, with the elapsed time of the connection, like a phone call. [ Janet  Jul 08, 2015 ]
No. I use google maps for nav with my Samsung Note 4. Using drive mode, I get the voice directions. The phone display does not go to the stereo [ June  Jul 08, 2015 ]
The voice will work thru the BT but the maps won't display on the radio. [ Andrew  Jul 08, 2015 ]
No it will can hear voice commands through BT but you won't see the turn by turn on screen [ Michael  Jul 08, 2015 ]
Hi Ed, I'm not sure about that. There is a video out on the back of the stereo, but I am not aware of a video input and don't think it supports video or anything that advanced. If you mount the phone and use the USB input I think you can play the NAV audio through the stereo, but I don't believe it will portray the GPS on the stereo screen. [ Patrick  Jul 08, 2015 ]
I Can not get anything to display on my screen from my phone. I have a droid maxx. [ Adam  Jul 08, 2015 ]
    i don't know install not completed [ VICTOR  Jul 08, 2015 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: Yes it will show the video on the rear monitors while driving. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy  Jun 15, 2015 ]  Staff
