Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great customer service. The rep, Cody provided me with several good choices as replacement speakers for my 2015 Ram van. The replacements I choose are an outstanding improvement over the $5.00(?) factory installed units. The new speakers were fairly easy to install, and the sound is now much better than before. I'm very pleased with the purchase. EH

Brad from Stockbridge, GA on 9/24/2017

2017 Ford Mustang

My 2017 Mustang has the 6 speaker setup. It sounds like an old transistor radio. There is NO bass or bump AT ALL from the factory speakers. I replaced the factory door and rear speakers with these. When I first fired them up I thought "Oh NO! These sound worse than the factory ones!" Then I realized the highs and voices sounded really good- in fact, LOTS better than the factory ones did. So.. I paired them with a Sound Ordanance B-BPTD125 self powered Sub Woofer that I just lay in the floor behind the passenger's seat and DANG- this Pony sounds NICE! The highs and mids are bright and clear through these speakers (and the factory tweeters that I left in the A pillars) and the little self powered sub brings the Thump!!! This turned out to be a quick, easy, low cost MOD that gave me great sound.

Pros: Sound really great and will handled 2x the volume of the factory speakers

Cons: Still need to be paired with a sub woffer if you're lloking for "Thump" in your bass

Garbage, sounds worse than OEM and open box received blown.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sounds worse than my OEM Chrysler speakers in my Jeep Wrangler. Absolutely awful. I recently installed an AVH-1330NEX and wanted to improve the sound. Figured these had good review, so why not? What a waste of time, spent 2 hours installing these instead of playing with my kids. Now I have to spend 2 hours to rip them out, send them back and another 2 to install new ones. Full disclosure, these were purchased open box, one speaker in one set is blown. I've been a Crutchfield customer for 10 years, this will be my last purchase.

Pros: None

Cons: Sounds worse than OEM No bass Mids are blended

Bearing in mind I am replacing the original factory speakers (that were so blown out I had to keep the volume down to a barely audible level to keep them from cracking), these speakers are wonderful. Good, clear sound, perfect fit in the factory location, and easy to install. I've had Kenwood speakers in the last few cars I've purchased, and they've never let me down.

Pros: Fit perfectly, easy to install, clean sound.

I ordered these speakers to complement the pioneer touchscreen I bought previously. The product quality is as expected the delivery time was acceptable install was easy and backed up with video to look at if I ran into trouble truly plug and play. I'm sure the money I spent brought the sound quality to equal or better as the top line system that year as well as a back up cam that probably wasn't on anybody's radar at that time I will continue to buy from Crutchfield.

Pros: Easy install, true plug n play and as always i knew if i ran into trouble Crutchfield has my back

Long Install time with adapter. Sound all right but not great.

Russ from Phoenix, AZ on 9/11/2017

2007 Honda Civic LX

Ordered with the install kit for a 2007 Honda Civic with the speakers. What should have been a quick job turned into a few hours. Speakers did not fit the rear deck installation kit without modifications. First the holes on the speaker barely line up with the four holes on the adapter kit and the screws provided are way too long for the adapter. After getting shorter screws I was able to make it work. But the big issue was the adapter has two tabs and a screw on the opposite side to mount speaker into the read deck The speaker covered 3/4 of the hole in the adapter kit. So I had to cut a notch in the speaker frame to accommodate the fit to the adapter since I wanted to use the supplied adapter. I could have mounted to the speakers to the deck but, why sell a adapter kit if it does work for the speaker. If you don't have access to tools I would suggest not getting the adapter kit and maybe just mount to the the rear deck. Maybe other speakers would fit the adapter better but, too late now and shown on web site as a good match for Honda Civic. But, after all the hassle of installing the speakers I was expecting to be wowed by the sound but, I was disappointed. All though the don't sound bad they definitively are not great. I am just running them off the stock Honda system as these were just a replacement for the factory speakers. Maybe if I added a amp I would get the "wow" factor I expected. For now I just assume since they didn't cost that much I got what I paid for.

Pros: Cost

Cons: Sound quality, Installation with adapter on Civic.

2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Classic
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased these for my 07 Silverado Classic to replace original equipment speakers that were working intermittantly. On the front doors, they would not fit as the mounting holes were not spaced far enough apart to reach the metal in the door. I had to straighten out the crimp in the door speaker hole to have enough metal to drill the holes. Once that was done, the install was quite simple. On the rear door speakers, I had to drill new holes in the plastic mounting brackets in the door, and there was just barely enough room to drill the holes. Bottom line they are mounted and sound great.

Pros: Good sound

Cons: had to modify the door metal to make them fit in the front door

Hey guys, I can't honestly rate these speakers since I have yet to install them but am sure they are very good according to everything I have read. After I received them I took the door panel off and found that the speaker I was going to replace was not shot after all, the adhesive had just come loose so I re-glued it and it works fine. 2004 Subaru Outback
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to be paired with a no-frills Kenwood KDC-HD-262-U CD / HD-FM receiver that I was "lifting" from an '89 Nissan Maxima into an '04 Subaru Outback. Music is classical, plus voice from Public Radio. I chose these due to the reviews, price (Scratch & Dent), and the polypropylene cone (old weatherstripping / high humidity). Install - I used the OEM mounting brackets, scraping the foam rings off, leaving the adhesive. I used DCI Boom Mat 6-1/2" Slim Baffles 050331), cut down to leave a 1/2" "lip" around each cup. I mounted the speaker as a bracket, speaker mounting ring, baffle lip, door cut-out rim "sandwich". This fit perfectly. (Note: the front wires needed rerouting inside the door to prevent wire abrasion). Sound - As expected for an inexpensive poly cone speaker (slightly less rich than paper cone - to be corrected with tone / equalizer controls); to boot I have 4 working speakers (2 of the OEMs were blown, not by me). (My other 2013 Impreza has Hertz 6-1/2" Dieci's, but as several times the cost, the sound which is far "richer"). Bottom line - If you want an inexpensive, no-frills CD / HD-FM "rig" for an older car, the Kenwood KDC-HD-262-U receiver and KFC-1665-S speakers are unbeatable, especially at Crutchfield Scratch & Dent prices.

Pros: Great sound at a rock-bottom price

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased a 2003 Honda Element earlier this year from Florida and I wasn't happy with the sound system. I replaced the radio with a model I purchased from Crutchfield. Loved the radio but it still didn't sound as good as I thought it should. I found out that all the speakers in the Element were defective. All the foam rubber on the speaker cones of each speaker had disintegrated. The Kenwood speakers had good reviews so I thought I would give them a shot. They certainly helped improve my listening experience in my Element. Installation was a breeze with the kit supplied by Crutchfield. I will continue to buy all my audio products from Crutchfield. 2003 Dodge Durango
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers are good quality, that is a positive. However, I purchased these as a recommended link from Crutchfield as a popular option for my Durango. I needed new speakers, as all 4 of the OEM speakers were blown. I installed these, and the are powered off the factory deck and Infinity sound systems and amp in my Durango. These have no bass what so ever, none. It's like someone screaming in my ear when I turn the volume up. The good part is that they don't distort until about 35 volume out of 40. So, now, I'm going to have to add a Amp and Small Sub to have at least some bass when listening to music.

Pros: Do not distort.

Cons: No Bass.

2002 GMC Envoy XL
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed on a 2003 GMC Envoy XL SLE: The speakers themselves are good, solid sound, Kenwood speakers and I expected nothing less. The issue with them is more with Crutchfield's description of them as "FITS". Yes, they fit.... with some significant modifications to the original speaker mounts. Had to trim off some of the plastic housing and two pins on the mounts and drill 3 new holes in the plastic mounts for both the front driver and passenger side doors. Rear doors, not nearly as much modification needed just some new mounting holes and two pins trimmed off. The modifications were not difficult, just unexpected and installation required more time than anticipated due to the "Fit" issue. My interpretation of FIT = unscrew and unplug old, screw in new, connect plug put back on the door panel and you are ready to listen to your new speakers. That is NOT the case with these. Be prepared to make some modifications to the fit to make them work.

Pros: Good sound quality Reasonably priced Packaged well and shipped well

Cons: "FIT" with some modifications

Clear sounds, great price, no hassles.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers themselves are fine, much better sounding then the factory ones. The biggest problem I encountered was installing them in a Jeep Wrangler. Not having done this before it was a major pain in the ****. You need to be a contortionist and make sure you have a 1/4 inch drive 6 inch extension and sockets and adapters. The other issue is the way the speaker bracket is attached to the speaker enclosure, with self tapping screws. On a Jeep that sees some off roading and a lot of vibration I am wondering if the self tapping screws will hold. Not looking forward to taking everything apart to fix loose speakers. As always the Crutchfield people are great to deal with both during the purchase process and tech support.

I got two sets of these to replace the stock speakers in my son's CRV. Very easy swap out especially with the included wiring harnesses. The bass sound on these speakers is incredible. This same model also fits my Accord and I'm seriously considering getting two more sets for my car.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced my OEM speakers in 2015 Nissan Sentra I couldn't hear a difference in sound from the original speakers. Just installing with no amp to them they sound just the same but I plan to install amp to power up for better sound other that delivery was fast and free and was simple to hook up.

Pros: Don't sound worse and after I install amp I'm sure they will sound much better.

Cons: Without amp power and just going off factory radio I would have thought that for Kenwood speakers vs. OEM speakers that they would sound much different.

Why did I wait so long!

What can I say, for a good price, I got 4 new speakers and wiring harnesses to replace the paper speakers in our Jetta. Crutchfield gives you what you need to get a great install. I watched a few videos on online to properly get the doors off. Removing the rivets is about the slowest part, but in a few hours I was done and these are a night and day difference better. Next step will be to replace the head unit with an Apple play version.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these speakers based on the number of reviews and the lower RMS requirement and higher sensitivity for my lower wattage head unit. I have to say that my stock speakers had more base than these. Granted the price for these speakers should reflect some quality issues and I had my hope set accordingly put when I installed them very, very little bass is had from these. The only saving grace is the clarity of the higher tones, thats about it. If you're looking for a speaker that has decent base output given its size, pass these up. I read many other reviews that said the same thing and I think maybe its the persons vehicle affecting it, nope. These speakers just aren't make for any kind of audible bass output. And when they do produce bass they sound like they're bottoming out and are about to blow. I am sending these back and getting something of higher quality.

Pros: Price, clarity, Crutchfield (enough said)

Cons: poor bass output, flimsy cone design and feel

2008 Kia Spectra
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The stock speakers in my 2008 Kia Spectra started to rattle so they needed replaced, but I wanted to keep the stock unit. Grabbed these because they were inexpensive and high sensitivity so they should be easily driven. Crutchfield's installation instructions were spot on and all the adapters worked perfectly. Speakers were in and working in less than an hour. This car doesn't have much room for speaker depth, but these fit perfectly. Other reviews have complained about lack of bass, and I kind of found the same. Not sure if it's the fact that my car has separate tweeters and now these speakers have tweeters so I have twice as many, but the highs were really overwhelming and harsh. However, nothing some stock head unit equalizer can't fix! Ended up with treble at -5, mid +2 and bass +2 and the speakers sound pretty fantastic, especially considering the price. I adjusted the sound of the speakers to match my Audio Technica M50 headphones and found those EQ settings to be the closest possible. I wouldn't say these speakers are of much use below around 45hz, the mids are a little recessed and the highs aren't the smoothest, but we're talking about budget speakers on a stock head unit here. Without the adjusted equalizer I wouldn't want to listen to these speakers, so make sure to do that if your car needs it. Far better than the stock speakers and much less boomy also.

Pros: Can be driven easily by a stock head unit. Inexpensive. Sound pretty good after tuning with an equalizer. Not deep so no problems with fit.

Cons: If you have separate tweeters you'll either want to unplug them or tune the treble way down. Bass doesn't go very deep (expected). If you're not running a stock head unit you should probably get something better.

These are the 3rd pair I have purchased. First set was in my 06 GM Sierra being driven by a Pioneer Bt 2 din unit and well it sounded so awesome I put 4 in my 08 Subaru Tribeca. I can't change the factory unit so these have increased the fullness and clarity of this unit. I knew after reading all 800 + good ratings I knew the Kenwood speaker were the right choice. Most definitely recommend these for any setup with in the peak power rating.

Pros: Great full sound and clarity for a 6.5" speaker.

Cons: None to speak of.

The sound quality from these speakers were atrocious. The magnet is lighter than stock by a lot and when you turn the volume up to audible levels, the sound was very tinny at best, and a jarring rattle at the worst. They look nice, that's about all I can say. I put the blown out stock speakers back in and they sound better than these speakers. I was hoping for more based on the reviews. I hoped to have gotten a decent set, but alas, these were not them. Customer service gets an A+, they got me a return and exchange for a better pair of speakers. Hoping to get new speakers installed and tested this week.

Beware! You get what you pay for. These speakers have no bass. This shouldn't have been a problem with the 300W subwoofer package I installed them with. Despite this, these speakers sound like they are playing underwater. Or maybe I am wearing earplugs. (And I don't mean they aren't loud enough, they actually are.) They have ruined my listening experience. Sometimes inexpensive doesn't mean cheap. In this case, it does. These speakers are just plain cheap. Unless you don't care about the quality of the sound response, buy something else. It's surprising so many people have rated them well.

Pros: low price

Cons: everything but price

For the price the value of these speakers is outstanding. These are not very high speakers, but for the price point I would recommend them to anyone. I was able to replace all four (4) of a 2003 Trailblazer factory speaker set-up that sounded very tinny. What a difference with the sound quality once these new speakers were installed. Now my mom can turn on her stereo without the annoying tin sound that used to come from the factory speakers.

Pros: Price and sound quality.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Used these on the rear doors of a 2015 Subaru as replacements for orginals. I used Polks (DB652) for the front doors. After reading the reviews of Polks for rear doors many said they were too overbearing so I took a chance on these KFC-665s's. Good decision as they mellowed out the sound experience. When I first got them as they are extremely light. I'm from the old school thinking that the magnet has to be brick heavy. Hard to believe the performance also for the price. They really worked for me. If I had to do it over again I would stick with Polk's for the front and the Kenwood's for the rear doors. By the way, the wiring harness and speaker adapters were perfect and Free from Crutchfield as well as shipping.

I was hoping to upgrade the original factory speakers in my 04 Chevy Silverado extended cab. These Kenwood speakers got high reviews and several said they were much better than the one's they were replacing. Well- maybe those people had lesser speakers from the factory in their cars. My truck speakers looked and sounded just about exactly the same. I was hoping for more bass than my original speakers but did not get it. My magnets were actually slightly larger than those on the Kenwoods. They're fine speakers just not better than the OEM in my Chevy truck. These speakers fit the front doors in my extended cab Silverado.

Pros: Fit perfectly, good directions, sound fine

Cons: No discernible improvement over the OEM Chevy truck speakers.

tl;dr - The bass won't rattle the fillings in your teeth but great sound for the price point. (I am not an audiophile and sometimes listen to rare 128kb mp3s despite the quality.) The pair replaced the stock door speakers in my '06 xB: the membrane between the cone and the housing on the stock speakers became brittle and flaked off. Delivery was on-time and everything was included in the box. Youtube and the Scion repair manual advised to use a 1/8" drill bit to remove the rivets that held the factory speakers: didn't work out too well but 5/32" bit hit the spot. Easy installation after that. I unfairly compare the sound to that of my Memphis setup (amp and 12" sub-woofer) in my truck but I'm satisfied with these Kenwoods. Thank you, Kenwood and Crutchfield.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Ordered 4 of these and a new Pioneer receiver late in the day 3/1/17. Arrived 3/3/17. Great shipping. Installed all components same day they arrived. Basic 6 speaker system. Left factory tweeters installed. All I can say is wow!! Absolute pieces of garbage. Sound from all 4 speakers were very distorted and sounded way overdriven even at low volume levels. Had to take the bass completely out with the EQ to make any form of music with a bass guitar or drum set audible which in turn sounded like I had installed 4 more tweeters which is not what I was looking for. Removed the entire system and triple checked all connections and checked for possible over looked damage. Found no problems. Put the system back in and decided id live with it a few days. A few days was up and I contacted tech support 3/6/17. Was advised to give the speakers 20 to 40 hours at moderate levels to allow them to "break in". I decided that the "break in" period was over and that I was not listening to music with this sub par trash. Went to my local audio store and bought 2 sets of Pioneer 3-way speakers. Installed the Pioneers and my music returned. Better than stock and way way better than these things. All without a "break in" period. If there was a lower rating these would get it. These should be removed from car audio and into the home section under refrigerator magnets

Pros: Packaging was nice

Cons: These still being in production

Put these speakers in the front and rear of my 05 Silverado. They have good highs, decent mids, and weak lows (to be expected from a 6.5") They don't have the best quality of sound, but for this price range you can't beat them. Great sound for an every day driver vehicle just don't expect premium sound from a $40 pair of speakers. I'm very pleased with the sound after pairing them with a 10" ported sub.

Pros: Crisp highs Great price Very easy install with the free hardware and harnesses provided by crutchfield

Cons: "OK" mids Weak lows

Fast. free delivery. All installation hardware included free! Only tiny amount of modification required (shave mtg. tabs). New speakers sound so good, I just ordered another pair for the rear, which now sound bad. I'm no audiophile, I just like clear music at reasonable decibels, These Kenwoods give me what I want. I rate them 5 stars for value, 4 for sound.

Pros: Easy install, oem type connectors, free hardware.

Cons: Made the oem rear speakers sound like &(*%, so I had to buy another pair.

The speakers were a good buy, for my wife's car. I had to drill a couple of extra holes for the adapter plate to mount correctly in my wife's Toyota. They sound vastly superior to the stock speakers, even with the stock radio. Now, all that is needed is my wife's approval. That should be readily easy, since one stock speaker was toast! Definitely a bang for your buck speakers. I drive a 2010 Volkswagen Golf GTI and I needed something more out of my car when it comes to my music. After the installation which to my surprise which hardware, wiring harness and the info to install this was provided freely, the difference in sound was greatly noticed. The installation was a breeze other than the stubborn rivets that was on the car originally, but nothing too difficult to tackle. On my OEM speakers when I turn up the volume, the sound and bass distorts and it annoyed me greatly. I felt like these speakers were struggling to get that proper sound I wanted. Now, with the new speakers I installed, I just smile wherever I go. The sound is clearer and the bass is within harmony with one another. I can turn up the volume without hesitation and not worry the sound won't distort. Overall, I am happy with my purchase for these speakers.

2015 Toyota Tacoma
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these to replace the original rear door speakers in my DC Tacoma. Note that I upgraded to Focal speakers up front a month ago, so this finished the speaker upgrade. These are slightly smaller in diameter than the original speakers are, but weigh quite a bit more. The OEM speakers only weigh 6.5 ounces including the bracket. Let's not expect too much, if you upgraded to these and kept your OEM front speakers, you're not going to hear a big difference. The fronts generate most of the volume. However, done with an upgrade to the fronts as well, they sound much better, much clearer. With all four speakers in place it's an obvious improvement over the original setup while still using the original radio. Drawbacks - The required bracket needs the holes drilled out a bit wider to attach to the door, and the screws provided don't really fit the screw holes in the bracket, so they need to be drilled out to make the screws fit. Because the screws are a tight fit, it's easy to strip the screws heads as they're not the highest quality. But these are nit-picks. Everything works fine, take your time and have a drill handy in case your OEM speakers are riveted on (mine were bolted - 10mm socket). The wire harness provided worked just fine. The sound is improved, and the cost is very reasonable. The external grills provided by Kenwood seemed pretty nice, but you'll have no need for them. I'd buy them again, especially at this price.

I had replaced my front door speakers with some Polk 6.5" speakers, about a year ago. As luck would have it, they were no longer available to replace my rear door speakers. I considered the current Polk 6.5" speakers, but when I spotted these Kenwood units, I just could't resist. I am running factor head unit and amp, so I'm not in need of massive power handling ... just something that can take the rigors of life in a Honda Element. These babies are marine rated, so if I accidentally get some water on/in the door cavity, I've got nothing to worry about. They sound great, and provide a nice balanced sound from the rear ... SO much better than the factory units! (why did I wait until the rubber surrounds were shredded to replace them?)

Much better sound than the OEM door speakers on my 2008 Saturn Outlook, all four of which failed around the same time. I give them four stars only because I'm no audiophile and don't have much to compare them to. These Kenwood speakers were noticeably heavier than the ones I replaced, which, if I understand correctly, indicates a better quality speaker. The dealer wanted $600 to replace the speakers, I did it in about four hours at a much lower cost from Crutchfield, and probably got better speakers along with the dollar savings. The hardest part was getting the feel for popping off the door panels, which took way more force than I thought was possible. Installation was easy with the recommended adapters and the included directions.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

They sound fine. They don't quite have the "punch" that the factory speakers had, but that's likely because the magnet is about half the size of the original GM two ways. I thought the harness adapter was useful, the instructions too, but the speaker bracket caused more problems than anything and in the end I used the original brackets as the instructions did not explain how the new brackets should be used with my application or even that they should be used. All in all, I'm not sure I see the value of throwing extra parts in the box that seem to only complicate the install, and the cost for an harness adapter and a set of instructions that don't explain how to use the parts in hand seem excessive.

Pros: Inexpensive speakers that have good clarity.

Cons: Speakers lack the "punch " of the original speakers, but clarity was much improved from the worn out original speakers. Speaker bracket (extra part that I thought I needed) was useless and only caused problems. Factory speaker bracket worked okay. Value of the purchase really wasn't what I thought it would have been.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Although this review has started only a week after installation, I have to comment that these speakers are a great starter to making your sound system actually pack a punch. The speaker installation gear was very easy to use, and communicated well with my pioneer receiver. However, I have noticed that the speakers themselves aren't too powerful at volumes above 38; in fact, they actually distort past that range. Nevertheless, up to that point of volume they are a symphony to my ears. Highly recommended for replacing stock speakers.

Pros: Great midrange, decent bass.

Cons: Tends to clip at higher volumes without external amp assistance.

Not for 2005 Trailblazer but still work.

Edgar from Tempe, AZ on 12/15/2016

2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

If you are looking to keep your vehicle for a long period of time, these are not the speakers for you. They're not bass pounding but they do have sound.. which should be want you want. The speakers start to distort after cranking half way though my volume, so do not plan on 'loudness'. The one thing that irked me is that it filter setting for finding these speakers and it says they will fit my 2005 Trailblazer. Well.. they will fit, but after you cut away on your mount and do some major soldering from the OEM adapters. *Not Kenwood or Crutchfields fault here* but the fit , yeah these do not just fit right in without a hacksaw and drilling additional holes.

Pros: Sound comes out.

Cons: Do not fit in directly with 2005 Chevy Trailblazer. Can not use grills. Will not be loud to crank more than half power.

Speakers great.

Pros: Great sound easy install

Cons: Disappointed with search did not know my truck would fit 6x9 and did not get info from the search. Look into it.

Crutchfield response on 12/13/2016 Taking Tim's advice from his review, we did look into it. We tested our in-house vehicle selector and the OutfitMyCar application online, and we came up with the same result. Thirteen pairs of 6x9 speakers we sell would fit the lower door locations in his Tacoma. We're not sure what happened when Tim used our site. We're still doing some testing, but our search engine seems to be working properly.

Got these to replace the stock speakers in my 99 gmc Sierra. Like most other reviewers I found the bass lacking but that wasn't really an expectation. The sound is like night and day compared to stock. The mounting hardware worked well but I had to reuse the stock foam pads on the lower mounting tabs to keep them from rattling. Also very fast shipping. Another good purchase.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The price I paid for Kenwood speakers sound too good to be true. Well, it turns out really is too good to be true. These sounded better than the cheap Boss speakers that I purchased from a big box retailer, but that's it. The speakers feel light in weight and despite being 6.5 in size, they have no mid or lows and sounded hallow. Too bad I already passed the 60 day return period and threw the box away..... In comparison, the JL Audio C2 -600 I ended up swapping these out for weighs twice as much with a magnet that is 4 times the size and packs a better punch with better clarity, but they cost more. These are not 0 or 1 star speakers because there is a market for cheap /inexpensive replacements. Not everyone wants to spend hundred for fancy stuff. However, in my case, I just wanted something better and these weren't it. The saying, buying cheap will end up costing more in the long run unfortunately turned out true in my case.

Pros: cheap price opportunity to open the door back up to swap out these speakers for better ones more stuff to donate to Goodwill

Cons: poor sound

2013 Mazda CX-5
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Speakers are good, they fit inside the OEM speaker frame. They DO Not work with the supplied mounting brackets or the wiring harness. The factory wiring plugs into the Outside of the speaker, there is No speaker wiring inside the door to get wiring harness inside the door and behind the speaker you would have to make a large hole into the metal door... You can instead, remove the cone from the OEM speaker and break out the factory basket leaving the outer ring, with the factory wiring harness going through it, allowing these speakers to be mounted inside the factory ring.

Pros: Great speakers, size is Perfect for mounting inside original speaker basket.

Cons: Supplied mounting rings and wiring harness adapters can Not be used. Wiring MUST go through mounting ring.

Installed these speakers in a 2008 Trailblazer. Installation took all of about 30 minutes. This includes removal of door panel, speaker, modification of speaker housing and re-installation. Took about 10 minutes to modify the speaker housing and install new speaker. All it took to modify speaker housing was a dremel tool. Modification is very minor. These speakers reproduce all Frequencies really good. If you want the Thump and Bump sound they would not be the ones to get but, for regular listening they work very well. Good Balance and Clarity, but still lacking

Kyle from Lenexa, KS on 10/7/2016

2010 Nissan Versa
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got 4 of these for my Nissan to get some better clarity out of my aftermarket head-unit (stock speakers distorted highs when there was lows mixed with it). Installed the front pair and did a test run. Got the clarity I wanted, but lost a lot of the low end that the stocks surprisingly had. Fading from front to rears you can defiantly hear a huge upgrade from the stock to these, except the lack of lows. I might return the set I purchased for the rears, and maybe invest in a low profile sub to fill out the rest.

Pros: Cheap, great separation from the highs and what lows there are. These speakers work great if you primarily listen to rock or vocal work.

Cons: Lows lack. You can squeeze a bit out messing with EQ and speaker size or crossover settings on the head-unit (if you have the options).
