HD Radio for awesome sound

When you tune into a local HD Radio station, you'll know it — you'll hear FM that's close to CD quality or AM that comes in clear and static-free. And unlike satellite services, you pay no subscription fees. If your iPod's hooked up to the KDC-BT758HD, you can also tag songs that you hear on HD Radio, then buy them later online. And most participating stations send out secondary programming, giving you more choices when you're in the mood for radio.

Bluetooth lets you concentrate on driving

Bluetooth gives you hands-free calling convenience, plus a wireless connection to the songs stored on your compatible music player. If you're an Android® user who's grown tired of your old radio's complicated Bluetooth pairing issues, you'll love this receiver's simple, secure pairing (SSP) technology. If you're an iPhone® aficionado, the KDC-BT758HD gives you full Siri Eyes Free control with compatible Siri-equipped iPhones.

You can talk hands-free by simply touching the dedicated "phone" button when a call comes in. The receiver will mute your music for the call, then turn it back on when your call is complete. You can install the external Bluetooth microphone in an optimal location within the vehicle for superior hands-free communication.

Streaming radio too

If you enjoy Internet radio on your iPhone or Android, you'll really enjoy playing music from Pandora® and iHeartRadio® radio on this great-sounding receiver. You can scroll through your stations, bookmark songs, and give a thumbs-up or thumbs-down right from the receiver's face. For you long-distance drivers out there, think about adding a satellite radio tuner to this Kenwood, so you can tune into the in-depth music, news, and entertainment programming from SiriusXM anywhere you go.

One versatile USB port

The receiver's front-panel USB port allows you to access and control the music stored on your iPhone or Android phone. And if you have MP3, WMA, AAC, or WAV music files on a thumb drive, the USB port can handle those too. Here's a cool feature from Kenwood — Drive Change allows you to connect a memory card reader or USB hub to the Kenwood's USB input and select music from up to five memory cards or USB flash drives.

Sculpt your sound

With all these ways to listen to music while you drive, you'll also appreciate all the tools in this receiver for refining your audio experience. You can pick a preset EQ for your music, or you can tweak the 3-band equalizer to suit your needs. The KDC-BT758HD includes a low-pass filter and bass level adjustments for your connected subwoofer. And, you can also choose the bass boost levels to zero in on your perfect sound. Kenwood's Sound Reconstruction feature gets the most out of your compressed audio files. You'll appreciate the six 2.5-volt preamp outputs if you're adding any amps to your system.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?

In most vehicles, you can use an adapter (not included) to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Kenwood stereo. Connect a few wires, program the adapter for your car and this Kenwood, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

Brought My Jeep Into the 21st Century!

Vincent from Baltimore, MD on 10/18/2016

I bought this unit almost three years ago to replace the stock unit in my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee, without the Infinity system. I love this unit! It's realitvely easy to use, pairs seamlessly with my Samsung Galaxy smartphone, and I was able to match the color of the display and buttons to my Jeep's factory dashboard lights. I later added the SiriusXM SXV-300V1 tuner kit to the radio, and that gave me even more options for entertainment. Also, the CD player and HD Radio tuner work great. My only complaints are mainly ones to do with the display: first, the display, while easy to see at night, is VERY difficult to see in direct sunlight, and second, the whole front faceplate is susceptible to smudges from fingerprints, so it has to be wiped off frequently. Overall, this is a great unit for anyone looking to add HD Radio, SiriusXM, and USB integration to their vehicle, or for someone like me who owns an older vehicle and wants to bring it into the 21st Century. Great product from Kenwood, as always!

Pros: Easy to Use, Great Bluetooth, SiriusXM Capabilities, Adjustable Display and Button Color, Integrated HD Radio Tuner, Sleek Design

Cons: Display Smudges Easily, Display is Difficult to See in Direct Sunlight

    Great Unit!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this radio last year to replace the stock radio in my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee without the Infinity Gold system. The old radio was fine, but I wanted more "up-to-date" features. The KDC-BT758HD had everything I needed! The Bluetooth works great, as I've had 2 phones since I installed the radio (Samsung Galaxy S3, and then a Samsung Galaxy S5), and both work great, I can access S Voice (like Siri or Google Now or Cortana) on my phone and use voice command to make calls, send hands-free texts, etc). Even the caller's names show up on the radio display. On the audio side, there's a ton of adjustments for making the sound the way you want it, and the adjustable display is awesome, as I fine-tuned the green color to match the dash lights of my Jeep at night. The display, like others are saying, is hard to see during the daytime, though is perfect for nighttime driving. But even the USB port and aux input, and even the buttons and knobs light up with the display for the color you set. The CD player works flawlessly, and will read MP3 files. Radio tuner is nice, and HD Radio quality is crisp and clear. Just about 6 months ago I added the Sirius-XM kit, and love satellite radio. I even added some new speakers about a month ago, and even though this unit will sound awesome with your stock speakers, they sound nice with the new, aftermarket speakers as well! I love this unit and would recommend it to anyone! (:

Pros: Great sound quality, great Bluetooth system, adjustable display-button-knob-USB port-aux input color, HD Radio, SiriusXM can be added on, fine-tuning of sound.

Cons: Display is a bit hard-to-read in daylight. Buttons are a bit small, Bluetooth microphone's tape doesn't stick after awhile and falls off.

    85% Great!

    Mike from Massachusetts on 8/25/2015

I bought this unit essentially because it had both Bluetooth and HD radio built in. I love the features. I love the extra levels of control (I can disable some inputs I never use, I can adjust the input gains per input, I can select from a huge range of colors for the display). But the big let down is the Bluetooth. When it works, it sounds great. But when it doesn't I want to chuck it out the window. It takes what I consider to be a very long time to re connect when I get in the car and turn it on. Often times, I have to turn bluetooth off on my phone, turn it back on, and specifically select media connection to make it work. I also use two phones. I learned early I can't have them both connected at the same time. Eventually I also learned that I can't have bluetooth turned on both phones even if one is disconnected. If there is even a second of overlap between the phones having bluetooth turned on then I get dropouts on the audio. Sometimes I get drop outs anyway. Sometimes if the track I'm listening to ends, and there's nothing up next on my phone, and then I select another track to play the stereo disconnects. There have been two times when it appears the unit overheats and refuses to do anything despite having the AC on high in my car. Because of the great features and what I feel is excellent build quality I put up with some of the bluetooth quirks until now. But it's gotten to be too much. I sincerely hope Kenwood has made improvements in their other models.

Pros: Lots of great features, lots of customizability, sounds really great!

Cons: Bluetooth is very slow to connect and 15% of the time malfunctions.

    Cons: haven't come across any.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

All in all, I am very pleased with this unit. This is by far the best sounding car stereo that I have owned. I purchased the stereo, dash kit, wiring harness, and iso screws at Cruthcfield for 204 dollars. The original quote for just installing the stereo at Best Buy was 264.00 which did not even include the stereo! However, Best Buy did the install for the basic price because the wiring harness which included the steering wheel controls that came with the unit did not need to be programmed. The total for the all was less than 300.00. Thanks to Cruthcfield, I saved over 100.00!!

Pros: I really like the clear sound and being able to hear the all instruments in the different areas of the car. The bass is strong enough to rattle the windows and the high notes are also able to be heard clearly. There are numerous options to get the sound you are looking for with bass boost, loudness boost, hpz settings (cool) plus the normal bass, mid range, and treble controls. I really like all the HD channels that I receive and can go through all the presets through the steering wheel cntrl

Cons: The biggest most annoying con is the fact that the display cannot be seen in bright sunlight no matter what color or brightness is used! I noticed yesterday that when playing music through the BT that only the front speakers had any sound, the fader control had no effect on this issue. The remote is really not needed since I have the steering wheel controls. The audio coming out is different for each source and have to change settings to get optimal sound. The clock display is very small.

My big gripe is that the main screen is very difficult to see if there is any glare. I have created a shade to prevent this but this is a very funky solution. i have been told by a representative that this is a common complaint for most car radios. If so the industry has a problem.

    Pros: Easy to operate

Cons: Cannot see screen because of glare

Great for the money, but the radio isn't quite as good as my pioneer one in my other car.

Pros: Great sound, easy install, fit well in my 05 grand caravan.

Cons: I found the volume button was very touchy and pushing it to go into menus was kind of difficult unless I pushed it directly in the middle, not super customizable, and not quite bright enough.

    Great radio for the price.

Pros: Pros - HD radio and ability to do digital media (ipod, pandora, android phone or iphone) via usb or Bluetooth. And still be able to play cd's just in case you still have some. Good sound quality. Hand free calls via Bluetooth.

Cons: Cons - even though this has phone to radio link for making calls, ease of use isn't great. It works, may just need to get use to it. The remote cant access all the features. Cant figure out how to turn it off off (don't mean standby) with the remote.

    2004 Honda Civic Hybrid
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm pretty critical of head units. I'm a long time pioneer fan but I've put two sub 200 kenwood head units in my cars. One in my 91 240sx and this one in my 04 civic hybrid. The Bluetooth func to onality is pretty good, although slow to connect sometimes and every now and again glitchy, but for under 200 it does a great job. You'll be hard pressed finding a GOOD Bluetooth head unit for under 500 so this one does the job fine. Sound quality is decent, features are pretty nice, and plenty of room for amplifier connections. I'll be amplifying all 4 speakers and a subwoofer so 6 pre outs were necessary for me. The brightness is pretty terrble and hard to read in the sun, but again, its a budget head unit. The color selection is hard to figure out to make your own custom color (I prefer white) but once you read the manual it's easy. I've had an excel on in my other car for over a year so Kenwood head units are fairly reliable. Overall, good budget head unit. Im not crazy about it but when you class it with other cheap head units it does pretty well.

Pros: Bluetooth, pandora, iheartradio, plenty of decent features, remote

Cons: Cheap (not really a con considering the price), Bluetooth takes awhile to load, display is hard to read in the sun.

Ps for you jeep wrangler drivers installing this yourself, orange and brown are not the same color...

Pros: Great sound great power Super easy to install more options than i know what to do with

Cons: If you want to spend more you can get more but at this reasonable cost i don't see much to be missed

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit is just chock full of features! HOWEVER, you MUST READ the manual to get it set up properly. Once you've done your "homework" it actually becomes very easy to work it. Kenwood has hit a home run with this one! For the money, it's a steal! The Bluetooth works like they say, the USB input and AUX input are on the front (nice touch with the dust cover on the USB and the CD) I left the color scheme on multi, adds to the "coolness factor". I added the Kenwood KAC-M1804 Compact 4-channel Amplifier and it's the cat's meow! Just perfect for my '99 Dodge Caravan.

Pros: Intuitive, easy to set up (must read the manual!!!)

    Cons: None

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this unit for my 1997 F-250. Install was kind of a pain being the older truck didn't have many access points to move wires around. But once I got this beauty in and turned the power to it, all the pain was worth it. Now I must say, I'm pretty brand loyal to Kenwood because all if the units I have purchased have been amazing, and this little guy is no different. Great adjustability for sound, the Bluetooth works flawlessly, great audio quality from the mic ( from what I'm told by people I talk to), the HD stereo is phenomenal, and all the cool colors it changes. I must say that it's everything I wanted for the price I was willing to spend. It'd be hard to out-do this head unit.

Pros: Adjustability for sound. Sound of microphone quality. Dust covers over CD, and USB/aux openings. Ability to change colors to match gauges, or mood. Bluetooth audio.

Cons: Clock is a touch on the small side. I don't personally have a problem with it, but if you had a little problem with your eyesight I could see how it could be a struggle. Not enough of a reason not to get this unit though.

A midrange product to replace the stock unit in an older pickup. Great feature set and performance for the price. The Crutchfield installation kit had everything we needed including excellent installation instructions. gave it five stars considering features for the price.

Pros: CD/radio plus front-panel iPod/iPhone interface. Ability to adjust colors is actually a very nice feature my son loves. The take-away front panel reduces chance of theft while the vehicle sits in the parking lot at college. Flexible equalizer a big plus.

Cons: Buttons and display a little small for me though my son didn't think so. ;^)

There is definitely a learning curve with this head unit. I've had several Kenwoods over the years so I had an idea what I was getting into. If anything, you are given too many options. Take the time in setting it up properly and you will be rewarded with excellent sound.

Pros: Options. HD radio onboard, music from your phone, satellite radio optional. Bound to be a color to match your dash.

Cons: Menu and options are not intuitive unless you know Kenwood.

Great receiver. I usually always buy Pioneer decks because I didn't want to shell out extra money for Kenwood or Alpine. This receiver was a great price and I couldn't resist. The HD radio sounds great. It has sub outputs which made my sub install a breeze. I like that the CD player and the USB/Aux port have dust covers. People on here complaining about the unit being too "dim" I have no idea what they're talking about. It's perfect. The buttons could be a bit larger on the radio presets and seek buttons but it's still usable while driving and not hard to do. And with 22 RMS it definitely improved the aftermarket speakers I had installed.

Pros: Great sound Easy to use EQ Looks slick

Cons: Could have bigger radio preset/tuner buttons

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Price was reasonable for the features I was looking for. I was most interested in the hands free calling and HD radio features. Installation instructions provided by Crutchfield worked great and I appreciated the fact that Crutchfield takes the time to document and sort out all of the needed items for installation. And the fact that everything needed to fit my specific vehicle was included with purchase and was specified for me through the Crutchfield website. I did have some concerns over selecting the correct installation package that was dependent upon my vehicles stock sound system. Being weary of this I called Crutchfield up and they gave me great assistance on selecting the best unit for my needs and sorting out what sound system I actually had in my vehicle. Both the website and customer service were very helpful. If I can convince the wife I will be purchasing another for her vehicle.

    2001 Buick Century
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This head unit went into a 2001 Buick Century to replace the stock *cassette* unit. I was looking for a unit that had Bluetooth, HD radio, and a USB, and this unit fit the bill perfectly, plus it includes Pandora functionality. The sound is excellent, and I receive a lot of HD radio stations, and an FM station 70 miles away comes in much better now. Installation took about an hour, and had one minor issue: I could not get any AM reception. This is because my car has a secret AM amplifier built in somewhere, and it needed to get power via the "P. Cont." wire. HUGE thanks to Crutchfield for getting back to me quickly and resolving this not-so-obvious issue! Not all setup options are not completely obvious, so a little experimentation is necessary. Set aside about 15 minutes to explore it. Setting up stations is pretty easy, but the little buttons are tricky to use when driving, impossible if you have gloves on. The station presets are on little rocker buttons, so I have to feel a tiny dot with my nail to engage it. The sound is excellent, and the HD Radio sounds great (AM and FM) compared to analog. Stations tune to analog by default, and then switch to digital if the signal is available and can be locked on. You can get a little more clarity and punch by selecting a preset EQ. The phone does take some effort to get working well. Call someone and tweak the phone settings until they tell you it sounds good.

Pros: I really like the look of the unit, as well as the ways it can be customized via the settings menus. Bluetooth connects to my Android phone when I get in the car, and you can tell Android to trust this unit, so your phone stays unlocked. Pandora is real nice: we have about 80 stations set up, and they're all accessible through the head unit. For longer trips, it is nice having the ability to throw in a cheap USB thumb drive and listen to thousands of songs without commercials.

Cons: Display is dim. Suggest a photo receptor to change intensity depending upon available light. Huge glare because display has a highly reflective cover, suggest a matte finish. It is 2015, and time to lose the 1980s LED segment display and go with a dot matrix. Lose the CD reader (does anyone even use CDs any more?) and the unit will have more height for the display. Buttons are very small, lose CD for more real estate. The DIN adapter is bowed under the receiver, despite proper installation.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed this unit into a 2001 Dodge Durango, the mounting kit and wiring harness included by Crutchfield worked beautifully and the install was very easy and went off without a hitch. This Stereo is the nicest i've ever owned and all the cool settings and functions are awesome! sounded great with my rockford fosgate prime components in front and rear doors before i added an amp and after the rockford fosgate 75x4 amp was added even better. I am also running a kenwood 350 watt amp and 12" sub off of this head unit and it all sounds amazing, the pandora app works great through my Samsung S-5 and bluetooth is clear as a bell. The controls for the subwoofer is a huge plus and makes it easy to fine tune my bass for each application "pandora,aux-mp3 player,CD,HD radio,ETC." this a great buy and you wont be dissapointed, I have read quite a few negative comments about the illumination not being bright enough, I have found it to be just fine and the only time i have had trouble reading the screen was with thefront doors open and the sun blasting directly onto the screen in my opinion this would happen with any head unit and have not had any issues myself while driving.

Pros: ease of install, inculded mounting bracket and wiring harness, settings and options are plentifull, sounds awesome!

    Cons: none

I was unable to install this product because it did not fit into the area that the installation instructions said it would. The Crutchfield reps handled it with a lot of class and the return procedure was very easy and straightforward. I really wish it would have worked after reading some of the other reviews. I wanted to replace the existing unit with bluetooth capability which is much easier for my wife who has limited finger use and has trouble turning knobs. I think I need to replace the entire existing unt and I did not see anything else that Crutchfield had that would work. If there are any suggestions I would appreciate it. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great-sounding unit with a massive amount of customization available. However, as noted by many other reviewers, all that customization makes for a very complicated interface, for instance, toggling between input modes, you have to use two buttons: one to toggle, and one to select. This is needlessly complicated, and not at all easy to do while driving. Hands down my least favorite aspect of this unit is the Bluetooth functionality. It's very slow to respond, taking probably a half second between pressing a button (track skip, for example) and the action taking place. That may sound like a minor annoyance, but it adds up quickly. Given that the Alpine unit I traded up from featured nearly instantaneous response times, this is a huge step down. Also, unlike my former unit, this one does not automatically reconnect when you restart the car, so not only do you have to reconnect the Bluetooth, but you have to hit play again. Again, minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things, but it adds up.

    Pros: Great sound, hugely customizable

Cons: Slow Bluetooth response time, wonky interface, overly complicated

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit is very adjustable and the controls are very intuitive considering how much you can do with them. Some negative reviews said the display is hard to see in daylight. It is adjustable and it is very bright. Those people need to adjust it. At first I was disappointed with the sound, but using the set up and setting it for 4-5 inch speakers made it sound much better than my OEM stereo. So far my only complaint is that the phone microphone doesn't sound good according to people I have called. This too has adjustments, so I'm hoping I'll get around to making it better. I need someone else to spend time on the phone with me to give feedback on what sounds best. Overall, this stereo offers tons of features and very nice sound. Read the manual and try various adjustments to get the most out of it.

Pros: Loads of features: HD radio, bluetooth, usb, ipod compatible. Nice sound.

Cons: Load of features means it takes some time to set up properly.

A lot of nice features packed into a single DIN unit at a great price. The settings are flexible, and feed from aux input like an iPod or Droid phone via Bluetooth work great. Definitely outperforms OEM radio in sound quality, and I will probably add aftermarket speakers later to take advantage. However, a few items are lacking: First, the display is barely readable in bright daylight while wearing polarized sunglasses regardless of color or brightness setting. I don't understand how something so basic could be overlooked in 2014. I might have gone w/ a double DIN LED display had I known (didn't go that way to begin with for theft deterrence's sake). Second, it has been tough to get the best position/ settings on the Bluetooth mic. It is VERY directional...the person using it sounds like they are on a speakerphone at the office, or can barely be heard at all. However, background noise seems well managed. I think I'll be able to work this out over time, and results probably vary vehicle to vehicle. Last, the buttons to change preset stations are too small, but this seems common on single DIN aftermarket units.

Pros: Great value; feature packed, very flexible settings, works great w/ iPod & Droid phones, seems well built.

Cons: Needs brighter display, larger preset buttons, and maybe a better mic?

Chris B from Little Rock, AR on 8/13/2014

    2011 Toyota Corolla
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

    1) The display: I bought this instead of the competing Pioneer product because it has a bigger, 2-line display and I like to read song titles via RDS and USB. However, with the brightness dialed all the way to the max at level 31, I am unable to read anything during daylight hours. Night time looks OK. The culprit is the glossy plastic finish on the face. Couple that with the high and tilted dash placement on my Corolla and all you see is a reflection of the window. I will try cutting out a cell phone anti-glare screen to see if that helps, but you shouldn't have to rig a brand new product. Not even window tinting is enough. 2) "Standby" - For some reason it freezes up for 30 seconds and displays "standby" when switching between radio and aux. Really Kenwood? I could have gotten a no-name Chinese DVD player with navigation for $150 if I didn't care about quality, responsive electronics that function well. I see reviews with "screen brightness" listed as a pro. Maybe I got a defective unit?

Pros: -after experiencing HD radio, I won't go back to analog! -tons of features -display has two lines, so you can see both the artist and the title, (but only at night, unfortunately)

Cons: -Display is unreadable in daylight. -Long "standby" pause (~30 seconds) when switching between Aux and Radio. -Pioneer sells a unit with all the same features for $50 less (when there's not a package sale) -Extra cost and space occupied by obsolete CD player. Might as well throw in a tape deck too. I'd like to have paid $10 less for just a media player. -Plastic volume knob feels cheap and offers no resistance to turning, making it hard to operate with road bumps and all.

I was able to install the deck with the included hardware and have everything running in about an hour. Coming from a factory deck in my 2000 Camry, this was a great move. While I was looking forward to HD stations, I was not expecting better reception. Fortunately, I was wrong. I'm now picking many more stations than the old factory unit would manage. Sound quality is better, but factory speakers are now the limiting factor The Bluetooth picked up the phone without a hitch. Using Bluetooth to manage Pandora and iHeartRadio from my Android isn't all that great. The sound is fine, but the navigation is not. The 3.5mm jack lets me have access to a better interface on my phone. I was hoping that the USB port would let me use my MP3 collection from my phone, but that apparently isn't supported (3.5mm input worked though). It's not the cheapest option, but does afford good value.

Pros: Better radio reception than factory. Better sound quality than factory. Strong set of included features. Installation is pretty simple as well.

Cons: Controlling apps via Bluetooth seems to be the only shortcoming at present, but the 3.5mm jack can overcome that.

It has connected to our ipad via bluetooth and that is nice for music, but it doesn't work for video because there is a lag for the sound so the audio doesn't match the video, not too big of a problem as we just connect via the audio in. The clock is small but hasn't been too much of an issue either, just a little harder to see.

Pros: HD Radio, Hands Free Calling, USB and audio jacks

    Cons: Small clock

I installed this unit in a 2004 Durango. Couldn't have been easier. Crutchfield recommended using the Metra XSVI-6502-NAV wiring harness in order to maintain the ability of the radio to stay on after ignition is turned off until a door is opened. But, I found that the power outlet/cigarette lighter in my vehicle behaves the same way (stays on until door is opened), so I just bridge-spliced the red "ignition" wire from the Kenwwod to the positive wire from the power outlet. Works perfectly. So if your vehicle has this type of set-up, you can save yourself some money.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Over the years I have installed tube AM radios, cassette AM/FM radios and now, a digital CD/HD radio. if I had known it would have made this big a difference in my truck I would have made this move a long time ago. Working on a DIN chassis radio was a new experience and when I stuck in the two curved wires, pressed apart, and the old radio glided out of its mount like a swan on a calm lake, I was hooked. The Crutchfield instructions and installation gear were exactly what was needed, of high quality and easy to understand and use. I had the old unit out in 20 minutes and worked an afternoon putting in the new one. The installation took longer than it should have because I tried to use a rear support like the old unit had even though the Kenwood instructions clearly said this unit doesn't use one. I watched a couple of online videos on installing the Bluetooth microphone and the hardest part was reinstalling the windshield trim because I foolishly mixed up the screws. I had made a cardboard diagram and screw holder but then put the screws (four different lengths) in the wrong reminder holes. I figured it out. This stereo is complicated and I am still studying up on all it's features. I am an old 20th Century guy and when I started I was at sea with all the terminology. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks. This Kenwood is a delight. The HD radio is great because now I have two new classical music stations. I am a fan of both Crutchfield and Kenwood. Kudos!

Pros: Quality of both the stereo and installation gear. Rapid and fast free shipping. Amazing number of choices and great comparison tools. And, it was a genuine bargain.

Cons: As mentioned by others, the lettering on the faceplate is WAAAAY small for my eyes. If this is the only negative one can identify, it is truly praising with faint drawbacks.

I put this in a 2002 Z3 Roadster and it fits perfectly. The harness installation was a piece of cake once the good people at Crutchfield explained how it went. The power and control of this unit takes so much more advantage of my speakers including the OEM sub woofer. the car now has blue tooth and I have the microphone neatly mounted and out of the way on the driver's side pillar no wires showing. The color selections of the unit was a nice surprise that you can custom to whatever you want. I'm very please with how this unit turned out. Special thanks to the tech support folks at Crutchfield for making the install such an easy experience.

Pros: Power - Sound Control - Blue Tooth - USB iPod/iPhone connection and controls - Custom Colors - Value

Cons: Fits perfect but would be nice to have a border plate option to make it really look as if it is OEM.

    Very Pleased!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this for my wife's car, replacing a Pioneer radio I purchased from Crutchfield a number of years ago. She spends a fair amount of travel time in her car and I wanted a head unit that would sync with her Android phone easily, provide seamless Bluetooth integration, easy hands-free calling, and easy integration with Pandora. This unit delivers on all points, and my wife loves her new radio! Installation was straightforward thanks to Crutchfield's excellent installation guides. All the necessary mounting equipment is included. Just follow the harness wiring instructions carefully and you will be good to go. I'm a measure twice, cut once kind of guy, so the harness soldering took me a little more than an hour. Getting her phone sync'd to the radio was a breeze and voice integration with Google Now took place without even trying. Pandora, too, plays beautifully through the radio and integrates tightly, even displaying current song and artist information on the display. I was a little concerned about the display legibility based on some other reviews, but it really has not been a factor and is certainly no worse than any other radio with an LCD display. I have an older Kenwood in my car (also purchased from Crutchfield) and that display truly is a challenge to read during the day.

Pros: The sound quality really is quite good, though the old Pioneer may have been a little more rich and full, but the difference is negligible. Phone quality, too, is very good. The mic pickup does a good job, but it does sound like you're on a speakerphone. Tight integration with Android, Pandora, and hands free phone calling.

Cons: Like any complex electronic gear, this unit functions are accessed through a myriad of button presses and takes some getting used to. It is not always intuitive but, like anything, becomes more familiar over time.

Great FM reception with the ability to select HD tuning only, Analog tuning only or auto. Pandora over Bluetooth connection with my Android Moto G works flawlessly. I like being able to use the volume button to enter the setup menu and select settings, it's quick and effortless. The display color was able to be adjusted to match the instrument cluster. The stereo has the power to drive the factory speakers with clear, deep sound.

Pros: Solid HD radio reception. Pandora connection via Bluetooth sounds great.

Installation was a snap, just spliced the wires on the radio to the adapter that was included, and plugged it straight into the Jeep harness. I threw out my old surround because the included one had the little tray thing on the bottom for a CD or phone. Controls are easy to use, most stuff is controlled with the big volume knob. I disagree with a couple others who said it wasn't bright enough, it is plenty bright enough. Plus you can set it to whatever color you want, something like 31 preset colors or you can do your own with RGB levels. The Bluetooth syncs up quickly and automatically re-syncs every time I start it up. I mostly play music off of my Android phone, and the phone call built in thing works amazing. Finally I can hear and others can hear me when I have the doors off and top down.

Pros: Too many pros to list, it's everything I could ever want in a car stereo.

Cons: I'm really thinking hard here, trying to be picky, but... nope, no cons.

Wanting to upgrade from the incredibly lame stock system in my 2009 Honda Civic,I chose this Kenwood and can't believe the difference!! The HD Radio rocks, and my iTunes collection with my phone plugged into the USB is at least 4 times as loud as before with definition, pop, and bass. There are definitely some decent converters at work here.I thought I would need an amp,but my ears are already bleeding on the freeway with the windows down, couldn't be happier.I am going to wait on new speakers and see if I even need them.

Pros: Crutchfield adapters, instructions made it an easy install.Cool colors in the display.

Great value and feature set. Much better than the OEM radio that conked out after only 3 years.

Pros: Blue tooth feature is great, aux input, and radio reception are tops. It is cool that the songs display when playing off my android.

Cons: The user interface is a little off. I keep inadvertantly putting it in "set-up-mode". Pressing the big knob puts it in "set-up mode", while the little button is "select". In my opinion this should be reversed.

This unit is a great unit with all of the features I wanted. BT, HD Radio, Pandora, and USB charging.

Pros: BT calling sounds good to the caller. Although having the mic on top of the steering column is OK. Might need to move it to the visor. Sound quality is good. Works well with Pandora.

Cons: -The way you select the HD Radio sub channels. Once you are on a HD station you can scroll through the sub channels. Lets say there are 3 sub channels. If you press the button a fourth time it doesn't go back to the first HD sub channel it goes to a completely different station. You basically need to memorize how many sub channels each HD station has. - The display is worthless in the sunlight. The face is beyond susceptible to glare. You can't turn the brightness up enough.

Works just fine, sounds good out of the new Polk 6" component system, 50W per channel is plenty loud. The display is dim and hard to read, especially in daylight - the glossy faceplate reflects any ambient light. Pandora and I-Heart only work directly with an Apple device, but streaming Bluetooth works with Android It would be nice if it would display both song title and artist with Sirius, but you can only select one at a time.

Pros: Good sound, not difficult to use

    Cons: Display readability.

This deck was very easy to install. (F-450 SuperDuty). It looks great, sounds way better then stock radio. HD radio built in was the big factor in purchasing this unit. Love the hands free calling, works great. This deck seems to have every feature that anyone would need, and it's a great value. I would recommend this product to anyone planning on upgrading their stock radio. Just not sure who listens to CD's anymore, seems like an outdated feature.

Pros: HD radio Built in. Hands free calling, the phone pairing is super easy, and the phone re-pairs when you turn car on. Pandora control works perfect when using the front USB. Loaded with features. Has great sound options and adjustments. This receiver is the best value for all the options this unit has. Has plenty of color options to match any style you are trying to achieve.

Cons: Bluetooth connectivity seems to be a constant issue when using iPad. Unable to use Pandora setting with iPad Bluetooth connection. Display is hard to see in daylight.

I can't say enough about this radio. I'm really pleased with it. I had originally ordered the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X597 but changed my order and upgraded to this stereo. The reasons that I upgraded to this stereo include better radio reception, HD radio, full color changing display and the ability to control your music through your iPad and not just the stereo. The write-up on this stereo doesn't make it very clear but you can listen to Pandora through Bluetooth on this stereo, it is not necessary to be plugged into the USB. Just choose the Bluetooth source option. Everything seems to run smoother through straight Bluetooth. If you are plugged directly in via usb and listening through the usb to your iPhone and then try to use Bluetooth for voice turn by turn or try and make a phone call it seems to get confused a little. My method is to use the USB to charge the phone but select Bluetooth on the stereo. This method seems to work the best with all the phone, iPod and iPhone voice navigation features.

Pros: Amazing sound, Bluetooth seems to work flawlessly once you figure it out, good reception, dust covers are a nice feature.

Cons: I wish switching between "sources" was a little smoother when pressing the button on the stereo. There is a slight delay switching from HD radio to Bluetooth, etc.

A pretty darn good head unit. I got it primarily for Bluetooth capabilities which it does a great job (android). Sometimes it will sync pandora with my phone without having to do anything else which is cool. Phone feature works great. If you don't have a bluetooth head unit you should definitely make the leap. HD radio is also quite spoiling when you switch back to a normal station. Instillation in my F-250 was a breeze. My quality of life has improved with this head unit.

Pros: Can change colors Bluetooth is awesome Sound quality is Great - from BT and HD Radio

Cons: Sometimes won't auto sync with phone or takes about 10 sec to sync with android phone. A little hard to see in bright light.

    Lots of useful features.

Pros: Sound and variety of features sell this unit.

Cons: I live in a sunny part of the USA. It is therefore important that the lighting on any accessory be bright enough to see the screen. Although this unit has a bright light behind the phone button, the rest of the lighting is impossible to see without shading the unit. The very shiny plastic cover does not help. I most often use the XM and FM. To change from FM to XM one must scroll thru every SRC setting with a screen that cannot be seen in the daytime.

Needed to upgrade a 20 year old stock radio, and this receiver has everything I was looking for. I was contemplating either this Kenwood or a JVC, but I really liked the sleek styling of the Kenwood. This receiver has everything I wanted, Bluetooth, USB/AUX, HD Tuner and XM Satellite ready. The Bluetooth works great, and the USB is excellent if you don't use the Kenwood Music Maker Light program. I found it to hard to search using the Kenwood program on a flash drive. For the price this product can't be beat with the features it comes with. I only wish that it came with a rear USB also, and they could have included a faceplate case! The display is hard to read in sunlight, but from everything I have read on most newer receivers, I think it's a common problem with them all. I found the menu's easy to navigate also.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Rating Legend: 1 Star is a terrible product, 3 Stars is as expected, 5 Stars is a blew my socks off product. I needed a new receiver for my car because the one that came with it when I bought it was simply not usable. The volume knob, which was also the command knob, wouldn't function when desired. After searching around different locations for what I wanted, I found this one. I wanted HD Radio, Pandora synchronization, Variable color, Bluetooth, and other bells and whistles.

Pros: The included wiring harness is easy to de-pin if you require it. The Pandora interface is quite nice when I sync my Galaxy S3 to it. I've driven a fair number of newer vehicles because of my line of work. Having this receiver in my 2005 makes it feel like it is a 2012. Playing Pandora through the receiver/phone and having voice navigation working simultaneously is great. As expected, when voice navigation talks, the music gradually pauses and begins playing again. Not enough characters left..

Cons: As mentioned by another user, there is no dimming lead wire associated with this receiver. You do have to manually dim the lighting on it. But... The major con to this unit is that the brightness during a sunny day isn't great. Therefore I don't even need to dim it at night. Also, upon boot up the unit wont play via the HD radio at times. I have to cycle through the sources to get it working again. These cons bring the rating from a 4 Star down to a 3 Star.

A decent head unit. Good value for the money. See pros and cons for details.

Pros: Has the ability to turn off HD radio globally. The JVC I had required you to disable HD each time to tuned a new station. That was annoying. WIth the Kenwood, you can turn off HD period across the board. This enables you to get rid of the laggy in and out of HD in a fringe area. Also, to my old ears, the regular FM actually sounds more full than HD. HD loses some of the fullness of the music to me. Can't explain it, but doesn't sound as good.

Cons: There is no dimmer lead. You have to manually dim the display at night. Insane. It's 2014. Can't believe that in this day and age a decent head unit doesn't come with a dim lead to dim your lights at night when your headlights are on. Annoying. Wish I would have noticed before I ordered. Last minor con. When you turn off HD radio, an annoying light flashes on the display constantly. Serves no purpose.

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth Technology: The Kenwood KDC-BT758HD is equipped with built-in Bluetooth (ver. 2.1 + EDR) allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit. In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP 1.5 (Hands Free Profile), OPP 1.1 (Object Push Profile), PBAB 1.0 (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.2 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP 1.3 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Kenwood KDC-BT758HD. Visit Kenwood's Support Site for a complete list of compatible Bluetooth enabled phones.

Secure Simple Pairing (SSP) + Auto Pairing (for iPhone): With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the Kenwood KDC-BT758HD without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings. When a paired Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units. You can pair up to five Bluetooth-enabled devices to the Kenwood head unit with a maximum of two Bluetooth phones and one Bluetooth audio player connected at one time (but only one can be used at a time). You can even pair your Apple iPhone by simply connecting it to the Kenwood head unit via USB and following a single prompt on the head unit's display.

Hands-Free Communication w/ External Mic: The head unit supports Bluetooth hands-free communication for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. The controls of the KDC-BT758HD can be used to dial a number, answer an in-coming call, or end a call. The unit also includes an external microphone (featuring adjustable gain), so you can carry on your side of the conversation while listening to the caller through your vehicles speakers. During a conversation, you can switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode.

    • Answering a Call: When a call comes in, a ring-tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker and the caller's name or phone number will be displayed. You can answer the call from the head unit's front-panel controls, or setup the head unit to automatically answer the incoming call immediately or after 1-30 seconds. The KDC-BT758HD also supports the Call Waiting function, so you can answer another incoming call while suspending the current call you are on. Your compatible cell-phone must also support this feature.
    • Dialing a Number: Using the KDC-BT758HD, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways:
      • Entering a Phone Number: Allows you to directly dial a phone number up to 32 digits from the head unit's control knob or remote control.
      • Speed (Preset) Dialing: Allows you to register up to 6 phone numbers for quick dialing. The preset numbers can be accessed from the head unit's Control Knob.
      • Phone Book: You can dial by using the downloaded phone book. You can download phone book data from your cell phone to the KDC-BT758HD. Up to 600 numbers can be stored for each registered cell phone. Each number can be up to 32 digits long and each name can be up to 50 characters long. Stored phone numbers can be categorized by General, Home, Office, Mobile, or Other. You can search each category of the phone book in alphabetical order.
      • Call History: The Call History is a list of calls that have originated from and were received by this unit that you can dial. You can select Outgoing, Incoming, or Missed calls.
      • Voice Dialing: If your mobile phone supports voice recognition, then you can dial out by voice command. Simply speak into the included microphone.

Note: The external wired microphone offers improved audio quality versus an integrated microphone, so you can be heard easier over noisy traffic and road noise. You can adjust the volume level and noise cancellation of the microphone without affecting the other sources. The external microphone features an attached 10' cable terminated by a right-angle 3.5mm connector which plugs into the mic input on the rear-panel of the head unit. The microphone offers an integrated mounting bracket which can be clipped to your vehicle's sun-visor or taped to your dash. The external microphone measures 0.525" (diameter) x 1.505" (depth).

SMS: If your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone is compatible with SMS (Short Message Service), the Kenwood head unit will notify you when a message has been received. You must then use your phone to check the message. You cannot read, edit, or send a message through this unit.

Wireless Audio Streaming (w/ Metadata Display): The Kenwood KDC-BT758HD also supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth enabled audio player or smartphone. The KDC-BT758HD will be able to control basic playback functions of your Bluetooth device's stored music; such as Play/Pause, Skip Next/Previous, Fast Forward/Rewind and Random/Repeat. The head unit will also display your stored music's song information; such as Artist name and Song/Album title. The KDC-BT758HD also supports audio streaming of music apps downloaded on your smartphone with metadata display and limited control. Advanced music control of your music apps will still need be done via your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone. When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call. Once the call is finished, your streaming music will resume.

Siri Eyes Free Control: When paired and connected with an iPhone with Siri via Bluetooth (not USB), the Kenwood KDC-BT858 has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel controls and external microphone. Simply press-and-hold down on the head unit's Answer Button to engage Siri and use the included microphone to communicate with Siri. Siri's voice will heard through your vehicle's speakers. All Siri functions including hands-free calling, music search, setting reminders, text-messaging, audible navigation, and more can be done through the KDC-BT758HD and its microphone. The head unit's display will only indicate hands-free calling and Bluetooth audio information (all other functions of Siri are only audible through the Kenwood KDC-BT758HD; visual data will still need to be viewed from your iPhone device).

Note: You can ask Siri to get directions to a destination and the turn-by-turn instructions will heard through your vehicle's speakers, while the on-screen map still displays on your iPhone with Siri. The head unit's audio is attenuated while Siri provides audible directions.

    Audio Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The Kenwood KDC-BT758HD utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The Kenwood KDC-BT758HD is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power output specs for the KDC-BT758HD are as follows:

    • Full Bandwidth Power: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20-20kHz, 1% THD)
    • Maximum Output Power: 50 watts x 4 channels

6ch/2.5V Preamp Outputs: The KDC-BT758HD features front, rear and subwoofer 2.5-volt preamp outputs. The front and rear speaker preamp outputs are balance and fade adjustable. The subwoofer preamp output is non-fading. The front, rear, and subwoofer preamp outputs are fixed to the rear chassis of the head unit.

Front & Rear High-Pass Filter: The KDC-BT758HD features a High-Pass Crossover for the front & rear channels when your front & rear speakers are connected by the unit's speaker-outputs or preamp-outputs. You can adjust the high-pass crossover from "Through", 100, 120, or 150 Hz. The "Through" selection is a full-range setting.

Subwoofer Controls: The Kenwood KDC-BT758HD offers the following subwoofer controls, when you are using unit's subwoofer preamp output.

    • Low Pass Filter: The receiver features a built-in Low Pass Filter control for the preamp-output, when the output is set to Subwoofer. You can select from 85 Hz, 120 Hz, 160 Hz, or off.
    • Subwoofer Phase: You can adjust the phase of the subwoofer output between 180-degrees (Reverse) or 0-degrees (Normal).
    • Subwoofer Level: Once the Subwoofer preamp output is activated, you can independently control the subwoofer preamp output level (-15 to +15) from the CD receiver.

Speaker Settings: The Speaker Setting function tailors the head unit's audio settings according to the type of speakers in your vehicle. You may select a Speaker Setting of 'SP-Off' (flat/off), 'SP-OEM' (for OEM factory speaker systems), 'SP-6x9/6' (for systems with 6" and 6"x9" speakers), or 'SP-5/4' (for systems with 4" and 5" speakers).

Preset EQ: Eight EQ curves are preset into memory, allowing you to recall the best preset EQ curve for different types of music. Each preset has its own level settings for bass, midrange, and treble . You can choose from the following preset EQ curves; Rock, Pops, Easy, Top 40, Jazz, Natural, Drive EQ, or User. The Drive EQ mode is an EQ preset that helps reduce road noise. The User mode allows you to manually adjust the head unit's Bass (200Hz) , Midrange (2.5kHz), and Treble (12.5kHz) level from +/- 8dB.

Note: You can store bass, middle and treble tone settings for each source (CD, Tuner, Aux, USB, iPod, Bluetooth, and Pandora/iHeart Radio).

    • Bass Boost: The Kenwood CD receiver features a Bass Boost control that can be set to the following levels (BB1, BB2, BB3, or Off).
    • Loudness: This function enhances low and high frequencies to make the sound clearer lower volumes. There are 3 levels (LV1, LV2, or Off).
    • Sound Reconstruction: When MP3 or WMA files encoded at a low bit rate (less than 96 kbps, 44.1k, 48kHz) are played, the Sound Reconstruction function restores their high frequencies so the sound quality is closer to files encoded at a high bit rate. The processing is optimized for the compression format and the bit rate used. When Sound Reconstruction is Off, the unit plays the original sound stored in the audio file.

Volume Offset: The level of each source may be independently adjusted to prevent radical leaps in output volume when switching from one source to another. The available settings range from -8 to 0 (-8 to +8 for Aux source).

Key Beep: The in-dash head unit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation. This function can be turned On or Off.

No it does not have an amplifier bypass. I am not sure if one could be added. [ MATTHEW  Apr 03, 2015 ]
No, is not charge. Only for USB play music [ JOSE  Nov 27, 2014 ]
Jeff; You would ask about something I don't know so I uncovered the car, turned on the (aux in) radio and: No it did not energize the charge circuit on my LG3. The radio itself? I love it. It was so tight installing that I broke the am/fm antenna lead from the car. That said I haven't listened to am/fm since I installed Sirius in my Pete in the late nineties I believe??? I listen to the car, a memory stick with MY music and Sirius in that order... The radio works very well indeed, replacing the Porsche's factory Panasonic unit from 1996, the one with the blown paper speakers. Porsche did not waste money on "stock" radio. With 2 way Infinity speakers in the doors and rear bulkhead, (small ones) and the top down it works better than I'd hoped. Good Luck, Jim [ JAMES  Nov 26, 2014 ]
Yes. It will charge your phone. With my android it kicks off an on occasionally. Trying to read usb. [ JOEY  Nov 25, 2014 ]

I don't have Sirius XM but I tested it with the radio and the turn by turn directions could NOT be heard. Seems like it worked when I got the radio but perhaps it doesn't work now due to the IOS update. I'm using iPhone 5 on IOS 8.0.2. [ Mark  Oct 02, 2014 ]

I have an android phone. When my Bluetooth is enabled i have not used the turn by turn directions. [ Diane  Oct 01, 2014 ]
it will not do turn by turn unless you are in a bluetooth mode. so if you are useing iHartradio, SiriusXM via phone, BT audio or on the phone it will do the turn by turn. it will not connect if there is a turn update. I am not sure about using the autio jack if that will help. Also you can charge your phone useing a usb cord in the device and if you have the phone in USB mode i will read it like a flash drive. but it must not be in a folder (at least it worked 100% of the time for me) [ John  Oct 01, 2014 ]
Unfortunately, i have not found a way to increase the clock display. I too would be interested in knowing the answer OR if you can reverse the Artist/Title with the clock... [ JEFFREY  Aug 25, 2014 ]

this happens to me more and more if i turn off the car and back on. I just got into the habbit on the phone to mannually pair the phone with the player. if they are paired it will have a bluetooth logo in the bottom right of the display. if that is not resent it is not connect. if you go into the phone, turn on boothtooth (it should pop up a list of saved BT items) tap the one for the device and it will pair. The AM reception seems fine on my receiver. [ JEREMY  Jul 13, 2014 ]
Chris, I purchased my unit a few months ago and use the FM receiver about 2/3 the time. I also preset the AM stations for occasional use. I have been very happy with the unit's reception, far better than my previous stereo. [ RICK  Jul 08, 2014 ]
No difficulty receiving local AM stations. [ RICHARD  Jul 05, 2014 ]
Am is very distance and geographically sensitive. We are 40 miles from DC and those stations are a little fuzzy. Local Manassas stations within 20 miles are loud and clear. Don [ DONALD A  Jul 03, 2014 ]
    I never listen to am sorry. [ darren  Jul 03, 2014 ]
I live in a somewhat rural section of the desert southwest. I use the receiver primarily in FM mode. However, certain sports events are broadcast more often in AM. To date, I've not experienced any difficulty receiving AM stations. I don't regularly use AM, but when I have, it's been fine. That being said, AM is extremely touchy, especially in more urban environments, underpasses, tall buildings, etc... [ DARIC  Jun 30, 2014 ]
Hi Chris, I replaced my stock radio with this unit and I made sure the ground connection was clean and tight plus I cleaned up the antenna plug and made sure it fit tight in the receptacle. I have not had any problems receiving long distance AM. Hope this helps. [ RICHARD  Jun 30, 2014 ]
