Helpful GPS directions from Garmin

The routing experts at Garmin built the navigation software for the DNX572BH — you can view its maps of the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico on the 6.2" touch display. You'll also get reliable routing with text-to-speech voice prompts that announce actual street names at turns.

Smartphone integration that won't leave you feeling lost

Kenwood lets you incorporate your favorite smartphone music apps into your drive. Here are some highlights for the DNX572BH:

  • iPhone®: With a separate cable, you'll get control of your Pandora® Internet radio and iHeartRadio apps through the receiver's touchscreen when connected. Limited control over your music apps is also available via wireless Bluetooth® connection. The DNX572BH also offers compatibility with your iPhone's Siri® feature for select email, Bluetooth® calling, and iPod® commands. The receiver's iPhone App Mode offers some basic interaction with select apps through its touchscreen using a wired connection; some apps such as streaming video may require the parking brake to be engaged.

  • Android™: You'll get control of your smartphone's Pandora and iHeartRadio apps through Bluetooth, so no cable needed. The Kenwood Music Control app also gives you easy search and playback functions of your Android phone's music through the receiver.

The DNX572BH also features an HDMI input, allowing you to connect most compatible Android smartphones and devices. WIth the correct HDMI or MHL cable connected, you'll be able to view video content from your phone on the Kenwood's screen while parked. The same goes for your iPhone 5 or newer, but you'll need to make sure you have the right combination of cables and adapters from Apple to view videos on the receiver's display.

Bluetooth keeps you connected

Built-in Bluetooth lets you make hands-free calls and stream audio wirelessly from your compatible phone. You'll also get voice dialing support through most phones, and safe Siri Eyes Free dialing with compatible iPhones. A wired connection will also get you automatic pairing with any iPhone.

Miracast™ compatibility brings your Android to the big screen

Miracast technology allows the DNX572BH to "mirror" the screen of select Android and Windows® phones and tablets right on the receiver's display. You can stream videos and other content from your phone to the receiver when parked for pit-stop entertainment. Miracast works via Wi-Fi® wireless communication, so you'll need to add an optional Wi-Fi dongle to the receiver to take advantage of this cool feature.

Reliable traffic from INRIX

With your DNX572BH purchase, you'll get a free 2-year subscription to INRIX traffic service, which provides quick updates on congestion along your route. INRIX is only available through a free app, so you'll need to have your smartphone with the app on it connected to the receiver to take advantage of these traffic updates. INRIX updates require an in-app purchase after the 2-year subscription ends.

HD Radio

Built-in HD Radio™ tuner

The DNX572BH also features an HD Radio tuner. You'll enjoy much-improved AM/FM sound quality when you're tuned into a local participating station, and there's no subscription required — just tune it in like a regular radio station.

Get your media involved

This receiver will play all your CDs and DVDs, including discs loaded with music files — including lossless FLAC files — while two A/V inputs offer connections for more audio/video sources. The rear USB port lets you connect your iPod or another portable audio player.

When you're parked, you can enjoy movies from DVDs or other video sources on the receiver's display. If you've got rear-seat or overhead monitors, your passengers can check out video content on them, and dual-zone output lets you listen to the radio or another non-disc audio source up front at the same time.

Hear what you've been missing

Kenwood's Drive EQ technology helps your music overcome road noise by boosting certain frequencies that are easily masked by wind and tires rolling on asphalt. You'll also have a 7-band graphic equalizer and other soundshaping tools so you can apply the touch you want to your car's sound system.

Add satellite radio for more listening options

Why struggle with stations fading away as you travel? You can hook up a SiriusXM satellite radio tuner (not included) to this receiver and access the wide variety of entertainment, sports, news, and commercial-free music satellite radio provides — and your favorite stations are always there. The DNX572BH is compatible with newer SiriusXM features like TuneMix and SportsFlash, which give you even more customizable options for listening the way you want.

Expand for sound and safety

You can also connect a rear-view camera, so you can see more of what's behind your vehicle when getting in and out of tight spots. The DNX572BH adds adjustable parking lines for the rear-camera feed, to help guide you. If you're looking to add subs and amps, you can take advantage of three sets of preamp outputs.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

iDatalink Maestro lets you keep your car's factory extras

If your vehicle comes with factory add-ons like Ford SYNC®, GM OnStar®, Chrysler Uconnect™, or Volkswagen Bluetooth, you don't have to worry about losing your favorite conveniences to get navigation and better sound — the DNX572BH offers compatibility you won't find in many other aftermarket radios, thanks to the iDatalink Maestro module (not included).

  •   For Ford SYNC systems, you'll be able to retain voice-controlled features, steering wheel audio controls, and factory audio functions;
  •   For GM vehicles, you'll keep your steering wheel audio controls, your factory amp, safety warning chimes, and OnStar, if present;
  •   Chrysler owners, you'll get to keep all your Uconnect functionality;
  •   VW owners: you'll keep your factory Bluetooth amplifier and fader, plus the use of the factory media device interface.

The iDatalink adapter also lets you tap into your vehicle's diagnostic port, so you can check out expanded functionality including gauges, climate controls, a distance sensor, and tire pressure monitor on the Kenwood's screen.

GREAT unit, easy install with no, I mean no issues (accept my wife bugging me to get it done). Install totally correct first time!

Pros: GREAT unit, easy install with no, I mean no issues. Install totally correct first time! Unit delivers the sound quality I expect w/ Kenwood (not my first rodeo w/ Kenwood). All options make this unit an excellent choice.

Cons: If a negative has to be displayed it would be inserting the unit into the dash; a little bit tight, need to make sure all the wires and rest are wire-tied.

Easy Install, Nice Features, But Didn't Like It

    2008 Toyota Sienna
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this unit for our 2008 Toyota Sienna. Install was fairly simple, like any other receiver. Everything on the unit worked as advertised and was a nice upgrade to the factory radio. The main reasons I installed the unit was to use the screen for a rear camera, GPS Nav, and to use as a DVD player and External Source for our rear screen. All those features worked great and as advertised. Although this unit has nice features, my wife and I still found this unit to be a little clunky to navigate. I didn't like the layout of the all the icons and the way you switch between radio, DVD, aux, etc... When viewing a DVD, the controls to pause, rewind, etc, were also not intuitive (menus change depending on where you touch the screen). We have the upgraded JBL sound system, and compared to the sound of the factory radio, this Kenwood unit did not sound as good. It has a lot of settings to adjust for sound, and I tried a lot of different settings, but still never got it to sound quite right. The biggest disappointment for us was how dim the screen is during the day. I installed this unit 1 month after purchase, during the evening and everything looked great. Unfortunately, my wife didn't complain about the screen being so dim that she couldn't really see the screen during the day. I found out much later, exchanged for Pioneer 5100 unit for less, more options, better sound, better screen. I would not recommend this unit.

    Pros: Features

Cons: Dim screen, menu and options navigation not intuitive, poor sound management compared to factory radio

Installation never goes as fast as you would like, but we made it through and everything works great! The Tech team at crutchfield is great, we had problems with the backup camera displaying upside down and they immediately knew how to fix it. The radio itself is easy to use and the navigation exceeded my expectations. I would recommend this to a friend and buy it again if I needed to.

Pros: Very user friendly and easy to use and operate. No harder to install than any other radio I've done in the past. Many features that our stock radio did not have.

Cons: So far I haven't found any yet!

I'm very happy with this product. The only thing I wish was different is if the USB could be in the unit rather than on a separate cord. But the quality is very high and the GPS is fabulous! I would buy it again.

Pros: All the bells and whistles!

    Cons: USB on separate cord

    Garbage

    SimpleGuy from Virginia on 10/23/2015

I got conned by a local sales guy into this unit. Took 4 visits just to get the speakers hooked up properly. visit 5 was fixing the steering wheel controls. Visit 6 was to replace the faulty head unit (and Suddenly, my "clockspring broke, cant get the steering wheel controls to work". Visit 7, no steering wheel controls, but Finally after 6 months, they found another wiring diagram and got my sub working. OK, through it all, the sound is not very good, there is No power compared to an '05 factory headunit, locks up the iPod (3 iPods) every few days, randomly wont connect to my phone (or it's replacement, or my wife's), headunit locks up weekly and takes 8-10 minutes to reset and reboot, usually requiring a factory reset. The local store says It is out of their warranty period, even though it has been a problem from day 1, wont fix it. Kenwood says that the local store should handle it. The store's corporate office says it's a local store issue, deal with them. As of tomorrow, I am having it removed and going back to stock "You Always have lifetime warranty on the installation sir" Nice response. glad you already see that you are not going to care to fix this.

    Pros: NONE

Cons: Do Not install this in a Lincoln, you will lose your rear seat entertainment system, factory amps and sub Bluetooth is picky Locks up iPod (15 minutes to unlock the iPod) Sound is not great Power is Terrible

    Kenwood DNX572BH Install

    RichB from Ohio on 10/13/2015

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Ok, I read all the reviews on this unit before purchase. I do agree the screen could be brighter. But, I am happy with the unit. The sound is excellent, Garmin GPS is unbeatable. I stream music via bluetooth from my phone, make calls and use the contact list, play mp3 though usb. The HD Radio sounds great and the equalizer is very customizable for each audio source. I purchased the install kit, steering wheel control kit, chimes kit, and backup cam. It took some time to install. It was worth it. Very happy! Main install issue was finding space for all the kits that go under the dash. If you find your new cell phone will not attach properly to the head unit, go to Kenwood's site and download the Bluetooth upgrade file. It took about 10 minutes to install the upgrade and it was very straight forward. Pay attention to the wiring diagram, solder and heat shrink each wire. No worries!

    Pros: Sounds and looks great!

Cons: Non that are worth mentioning.

Good Kenwood unit, looks OEM factory

    Jeffrey from Ohio on 10/12/2015

I had this Kenwood DNX572BH professionally installed and they did a flawless job on the installment. I've owned up to this unit now for three days and like how everything works except for the small clock in the upper right hand corner of the screen that is nearly impossible to see and the glare on the screen is horrible during the day time regardless of the sun level. I didn't have this much of a glare problem on my last double-din head unit, a Pioneer AVH-X3600BHS.

Pros: Love the Bluetooth / Garmin Navigation

Cons: I just which that Kenwood would come up with a better improved clock with bigger time clock numbers in upper right hand corner and higher adjustment numbers so that we can brighten the screen more during the day to reduce the glare on the screen so that we can see the screen better.

    Love this unit

    Aron from Pennsylvania on 9/30/2015

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Self installed in a 2006 Toyota Tacoma Sport. This head unit does everything I wanted... and them some. Installation was straight forward with the install kit that I purchased along with the unit. Sound quality is great (or at least good enough for my ears). My friends have told me the Bluetooth phone connection is so good they can't tell if I'm in my truck or sitting at home. The nav and add-on backup camera work as they should. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone that's in the market for something like this.

Pros: Overall quality. All settings are easy to get to and straight forward.

Cons: HD Radio signal fades in and out a lot, but that could be the area I'm in. I turned it off and the sound is still great.

    Disappointed

    2014 Honda Ridgeline
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very disappointed. The system was easy to install despite the vague directions, and works as describe. However a minor problem is it takes 20 seconds or more to fire up and the clock is so small it is near impossible to see when sitting still and impossible to see when moving. The true problem is the screen. The glare on this screen is horrible. It is nearly worthless during the day regardless of sun level. I have adjusted the brightness, contrast etc and little to any change. One of the main reason I went with this unit was the Garmin GPS. The spoken end of the GPS helps but it is near impossible to see the screen which ultimately renders this unit worthless for the guadiance end of things. I am so disappointed that I am going to write to Kenwood, a very good company, and see if the will take it back towards an upgraded unit or something else that will have a screen I can see. I spoke with a local install tech, (I installed the unit myself) about this and he informed me that this is specific to the this model and year. He stated the previous years models did not have this problem. Bottom line after spending this kind of money I will be replacing it with something else very soon weather Kenwood helps me or not. Advise, do not buy this unit.

    Pros: Works as described

Cons: Screen glare renders this unit worthless and will be replaced in less than 30 days. Nothing like throwing my money down the drain.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Background: my baseline for comparison is an 8 yr old factory Jeep Nav. I've had this kenwood installed in my car for about a month now, and I find myself fighting it constantly. It takes FOREVER to start up and actually start playing the radio, and EVEN LONGER to read the USB drive I have my music stored on and then start playing that. Once started, the USB file organization on the unit is completely random and totally absent of any logic. Trying to switch through tracks with the track skip buttons is next to impossible to do with any haste. (including steering wheel controls) E.g. if I'm on track 10 and want to skip back to track 2, I have to press the previous track button around 25 times rapidly to get there. Then there is the track fade-in forced on every song which ruins many an intro. The physical buttons are as chintzy feeling as any other aftermarket radio, but at least they help slightly in the navigating issues. However, the lack of a "now playing" hard (or soft) key makes going between music and settings especially tedious. The clock is displayed in TINY font at the top right corner of the screen on most screens, and completely absent on the navigation screens. The only time it's legible is on the now playing screen, when it's actually usable. If left to factory settings, the clock displays any random time until about a full minute after start up, at which point is syncs to satellite and finally displays accurate time. Thankfully this is defeatable.

Pros: The Garmin navigation is a good system, though it lacks a clock The touch screen itself is reasonably responsive, but the operating system running it makes up for that by being horribly laggy. Loaded with features, some of which work (bluetooth streaming on Android has been hit and miss, and iPhone (6) has thus far been unsuccessful). Sound quality is good, but all the gimmick EQ features it has, like DriveEQ, just make everything sound bad. Color matched lights is really nice Looks factory

Cons: The screen doesn't get anywhere near bright enough to be usable in the daytime with the sunroof open (or even closed). The screen doesn't get dim enough at night to not be annoyingly bright on rural back roads without street lights. User interface is HORRIBLE Overall, if this were in a brand new car, OEM, you can bet that the only thing car reviewers would be talking about is how completely awful the infotainment system is. I can't believe how much money I wasted on this thing.

    Disappointed

    Jeremy from Nebraska on 8/15/2015

I'll preface this review with the fact that I have owned purchased nothing but Kenwood products for my aftermarket stereos for the last 15 years. With this in mind, the DNX572BH is the most disappointing and underwhelming Kenwood product I have ever owned. The User Interface isn't as simple as other Kenwood products that I have had and the actual functionality of it has flat out made me just turn it off at times during my commute out of frustration. The channel up and tune left and right buttons on the screen are redundant, when playing from USB or SD, the unit doesn't remember where you left off or how you had songs sorted (artist, song, etc...), and it also doesn't remember that you were on on shuffle. Navigation information is always on the bottom of the screen taking up space even though there is a dedicated hard button just for it. Phone audio via bluetooth has functioned properly but media audio via bluetooth has not. After updating the firmware for the headunit that connectivity problem has gotten better. In radio listening mode, the presets are crammed up against the right side of the screen right next to a selectable pop out box. Their proximity to each other makes it difficult to quickly select a station preset or scroll through the presets. Still haven't been able to figure out what adapter i need to get screen mirroring to work which is the main reason I bought this unit.

Pros: bluetooth phone connection user interface / Garmin navigation

Cons: poor UI in radio, usb, and SD card mode. Unit won't remember that you were listening to shuffling songs without constantly having to select it. (my old KVT719DVD does this just fine)

Stephen T from Virginia on 7/24/2015

This unit does everything that you would expect it to. Good sound quality, OK touch screen, Bluetooth and GPS work well. One of the reasons I have taken a star off is that it takes probably 30 seconds or so to actually start up. Luckily, the backup camera video will still override the loading screen when you shift it into reverse so you don't actually have to wait for that feature to work. Otherwise, you'll have to wait a bit for everything else to turn on, including the radio. The other weird thing about this head unit is that you have to ground out the parking brake detection wire and switch to the Video source for it to be able to take an auxiliary input (headphone jack) from your phone or whatever device. It doesn't actually have a separate auxiliary input source, you just have to hijack the video source. The other option is to use Bluetooth, but I prefer the old fashioned auxiliary cable for ease of use in case friends want to play a song off their phone or something. Also, the auxiliary input jack is on the back of the head unit so you'll have to run a wire somewhere to make it accessible. Overall, it's a solid unit. Just be aware of the quirks I mentioned above.

Great system for the price. I had a toggle switch go bad on my 2006 Ram Truck system and no one could fix it. So I talked with several people and they recommended Crutchfield. They were amazing and got what I needed. It does so much more than my original system. Two hours of installation time and it was up and running

Pros: It has everything that I needed.

Cons: It takes 20 seconds for the system to get up and running. If you are using the reverse camera mode, you have to set there until the system comes on. Minor inconvenience.

I installed this in my 2015 F250 XLT; it's definitely an upgrade from the standard digital factory radio. I combined it w/ the Idatalink Maestro, so it retained all of the Sync factory features and steering wheel controls. Some extra pluses are: You can use the camera at all times, not just in reverse. Mine is wired so I can have DVD's playing while driving...for my son in the back middle seat. It's very user friendly, and fits nicely in the dash; it looks like it came factory installed. I like the Pandora app display. The Idatalink works amazingly well with this deck, it displays some amazing info and gauges. And of course the Garmin navigation is my favorite navigation system. It's the primary reason I chose this radio over an Alpine or Pioneer; it's the easiest navigation system I've ever used. I've only been able to play with it for a little while so far, so I'm sure I'll find more stuff it can do. My buddy has a Lariat, and this system does as much as his factory MyTouch, if not more.

Pros: With the proper components, it does everything you could want...the Idatalink Maestro is awesome. Garmin navigation is my preferred navigation system.

Cons: My dash allows too much sunlight to hit the face of the radio, so it bleaches out the light from the screen at times...that's no fault of the radio though. Mirror Link would be a nice imbedded feature, but not that big of a deal to me

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have been searching for a system with GPS, bla, bla, bla... Crutchfield was great... Best price around. Through in a couple of things! The system... kenwood... I'm expecting greatness! The long & the short... System is ok... Connect the phone... Quick! You have to have Pandora on your phone to hear it... SiriusXM... The box said SiriusXM ready... But you need to buy an adapter cable... If you don't get it... Someone will charge you to install it... I was upset... I didn't get it because I didn't know. The system takes about 15 to 20 sec before coming on...

    Touchscreen & Remote Control

6.2" Touchscreen Display (w/ Flick Scrolling): The Kenwood DNX572BH features a 6.2" widescreen (16:9) touchscreen LCD with LED backlighting. The LCD touchscreen has a resolution of 800 (H) x 480 (V) x RGB with 1,152,000 total pixels. This unit has touchscreen controls with easy-to-identify icons, making menu navigation easy. You can scroll screen lists by simply flicking the screen up/down, or scroll screen pages by simply flicking the screen right/left.

    • Aspect Ratio & Picture Adjustment: You can change the aspect ratio for video playback. You can select from Full (16:9), Just (4:3 LB), or Normal (4:3), or Auto (automatically selects to match incoming video signal). You can also adjust the unit's display brightness, contrast, color, tint, sharpness, and black level to suit your viewing needs during video playback.
    • Custom Top Menu & Background Images: The Top Menu screen (main menu) features 3 pages of source & settings icons. The first page consists of 3 large icons and 4 smaller icons which can be accessed directly, while the second page consists of 10 small icons, and the third page consists of two small icons. You can customize the Top Menu by rearranging the icons and moving the icons you use most to the front page. You can even download a still image (800 x 600) for use as the unit's background from a connected USB thumbdrive.
    • Clock Display: The navigation receiver offers a 12-hour clock which is visible from any source or menu screen. With your vehicle's key in the accessory or start position, the head unit will continue to display the LCD background image, clock, and button illumination during "Standby" mode. Pressing and holding the Power/Menu button turns the unit off completely.
    • Split Screen AV Control: The Split Screen AV Control mode divides the head unit's touchscreen monitor into two screens, with navigation on the left and a control window on the right. With this Picture-in-Picture type function, the head unit can now display the navigation map screen and basic playback controls for the source screens (or rear-view camera) simultaneously.
Note: To prevent the display of video while the vehicle is in motion, the light green wire (within 4-pin harness) must be connected to the vehicle's parking brake detection circuit. You cannot view video unless your vehicle's parking brake is engaged. If you attempt to view video without the parking brake engaged, the unit's LCD touchscreen will simply display a blue screen and "Parking Off". While your vehicle is in motion (parking brake off), you can still view all of the head unit's menu screens/settings, source information, metadata, album artwork, and the navigation on-screen map.

Start-Up Time: The Kenwood DNX572BH will turn on to the last source selected or the navigation screen. The unit has start-up time of approximately 23.7 seconds from OFF to the last Source selected, or a start-up of approximately 31.3 seconds from OFF to the Navigation screen.

Front-Panel Controls w/ Variable Color Illumination: In addition to the touchscreen controls, the unit includes frequently used buttons and a rotary-dial along the left edge of the screen. You can adjust the head unit's button illumination, as well as display background color from the following preset colors - Blue, Purple, Sky Blue, Aqua, Yellow, Green, Amber, Red, Pink, White or Scan (Scans through all preset colors). You can also select a custom "User" color that is adjusted between Red, Green, and Blue (values range: 0-31). You can save up to 3 custom color presets. The Kenwood logo and eject button remain red, regardless of variable color illumination setting.

Remote Control: The Kenwood DNX572BH offers compatibility with factory steering wheel controls (adapter sold separately) and is compatible with Kenwood's IR wireless remote control (sold separately) for added convenience.

    • Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility: The head unit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input wire (blue/yellow) within the included wiring harness that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately). Please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car to see if your vehicle is compatible.
    • Optional Remote Control: The optional Kenwood KNA-RCDV331 IR wireless remote control (113RCDV331, sold separately) unit is designed to operate this Kenwood navigation head unit. The wireless remote controller operates off of two supplied "AAA" batteries. The remote operates off of IR transmission so the KNA-RCDV331 must be pointed at the front-panel of the Kenwood head unit within direct line of sight.

Security Indicator: The Security Indicator feature helps to protect the Kenwood DNX572BH against theft. Turning this function "On" allows the security indicator light (red) on the front-panel of the head unit to flash when your vehicle's ignition is off.

2-DIN Chassis: The DNX572BH has a 2-DIN chassis (also known as "Double-DIN"), and will fit in many vehicles with a large dash opening. The unit can be ISO-mounted using factory brackets, or Euro-mounted using the supplied mounting sleeve. As always, please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car to verify fit with your vehicle.

    Onboard Navigation

Garmin Navigation: With built-in Garmin & HERE navigation software and map data, the Kenwood DNX572BH features on-screen maps of the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The built-in maps include over 6-million Points of Interest (POIs) such as hotels, restaurants, gas stations, attractions, parking, airports, ATMs, and more. The built-in navigation software provides you with calculated on-screen routes and audible directions to follow in order to reach your destination safely.

Note: Car navigation maps are frequently updated. While this database was judged to be as accurate as possible at the time of its release, a map database can never be 100% accurate. Road information that is maintained in the map databases, such as turn restrictions or road names may change over time.

Software/Map Data Updates: When the preloaded maps are considered out of date, the DNX572BH will provide periodic notification at startup. Garmin software and map updates can be downloaded as required, via USB. To find a software or map update, please go to www.garmin.com/kenwood.

GPS Receiver & Antenna: The Kenwood DNX572BH employs a high-sensitivity GPS receiver that is forgiving of less than optimal antenna placement, giving you additional placement options. The included GPS antenna features a self-adhesive base and an attached 11.5' cable which plugs into the back of the head unit. The GPS antenna is designed to be mounted inside the vehicle on the dash. The GPS antenna measures 1.3125" (w) x 0.625" (h) x 1.4375" (d). The self-adhesive pad measures 2.5625" square.

    • Acquisition Time: 26 seconds (cold)
    • Update Rate: 1/second, continuous
    • Accuracy: <2.5 meters continuous (Position), 0.1 meter/sec (Velocity)
Note: The navigation receiver took approximately 27.1 seconds to calculate directions from Virginia to California. It only took 10.1 seconds to calculate directions from Virginia to Maryland. These tests were done inside the Crutchfield Lab of the Crutchfield Head Quarters. Results will vary based on length of calculated route and your surrounding area.

INRIX Traffic: You can receive INRIX traffic information and weather forecast through the Kenwood DNX572BH by connecting your iPhone (iOS 7.1+) or Android (OS 4.0.3+) smartphone with "Kenwood's Traffic Powered By INRIX" application (from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store) installed. While the DNX572BH is in navigation mode, it pulls real-time data from the INRIX Traffic app on your smartphone which provides you with up-to-the-minute traffic, weather, parking, traffic cameras, and travel advisory information on-screen. You get 2 years free access to INRIX traffic information (fees will apply after 2nd year). Your iPhone must be connected via USB, while your Android smartphone must be connected via Bluetooth to the Kenwood navigation receiver.

On-Screen Map: The Kenwood DNX572BH displays a real-time moving map illustrating your current position and intended route. It will show map scale and geographic details such as lakes, rivers, highways and towns. Your route is marked with a magenta line. A checkered flag marks your destination. As you travel the DNX572BH guides to your destination with arrows on the map and directions at the top of the screen. The upper-left corner of the screen indicates the distance to your next maneuver. During your calculated route, your arrival time is displayed in the lower left corner, your current speed is shown in the lower right corner. The posted speed limit for most major roads is displayed near the lower right corner as well. The unit allows you to zoom, pan, and point using the touchscreen during navigation.

    • Map Detail: You can adjust the amount of detail shown on the map screen. More detail may cause the map to be slower.
    • 2D/3D Map View: You can changes the perspective of the map from 2D North-Up (displays the map in 2 dimensions with North at the top), 2D Track-Up (displays the map in 2 dimensions with your direction of travel at the top of the screen), 3D Track-Up (displays the map in 3 dimensions with your direction of travel at the top of screen).
    • Vehicle Type: You can change the icon (arrow, station wagon, sports car, compact car, SUV, jeep, RV, or sled) used to display your position on the map.
    • Color Mode: Select between Day (for a bright background), Night (for a black background) or Auto (to automatically switch between the two) for the on-screen map.

Text-To-Speech Voice Prompts: The unit's text-to-speech voices "read and speak" the same words that are displayed on the unit's screens. The voices have an extensive vocabulary and they pronounce the street names as you approach turns. Voice prompts can heard from both of your front speakers, only the left front speaker, or only the right front speaker. You can independently adjust the volume (0-35) of the voice prompts without affecting the main volume. The unit offers English, French, and Spanish voice prompts.

Note: You can continue to listen to your music source while navigating. The DNX572BH will mute the music source, when there is a text-to-speech voice prompt. Once the voice prompt has ended, your music volume will automatically raise to previous setting.

Turn/Lane Assistant + Exit Service: While navigating a route, a preview of the next turn, lane change, or other maneuver appears in the upper-left corner of the map. The preview includes the distance to the turn or maneuver and the lane in which you should be traveling, if available. The Exit Services function lets you search roadway exits for food, lodging, and rest areas so you are never left guessing what is around the bend. You must be on a major highway or road to use this feature.

Speed Limit Icon: A speed limit icon may appear as you travel on major roadways. This icon displays the current speed limit of the roadway. The unit's speed limit icon feature is for information only and does not replace the driver's responsibility to abide by all posed speed limit signs and to use safe driving judgment at all times.

Destination & Location Screens: The DNX572BH offers a variety of destination/location screens & functions to help you along your route.

    • Where Am I?: The "Where Am I?" feature gives you instant access to important information in case of an emergency. When you select "Where Am I?" from the menu, you get the coordinates (including elevation) of your current position, plus the nearest address and intersections. There are also menus to help you locate the nearest hospitals, police stations, gas stations, and roadside assistance. You can also save the location for future reference.
    • Where To? Screen: The "Where To?" screen provides several different ways to enter your destination. The navigation system automatically searches for places near your current location. You can also choose to have the DNX572BH search for places in a different city, a recent destination, a favorite destination, projected destination, or along your current route.
      • Browse Map: Allows you to search for a destination by touching and dragging the map.
      • Go Home: You can store one home location to allow you to calculate a route home from any current location.
      • Address/Cities/Intersections: Input your destination address by house number, street, city, and zip-code. You can also search for a city by name or search two intersecting streets.
      • POI Category: The detailed maps loaded in this navigation system contain locations, such as restaurants, hotels, parking, auto services, and other POIs (points-of-interest). You can use these categories to browse for nearby businesses and attractions.
      • Favorites & Recents: You can save all of your favorite places in the navigation system, so you can quickly navigate to them later. You can also choose from one of your most recent destinations (up to 50) or waypoints.
      • Coordinates Allows you to search your destination by longitude and latitude values.
      • Search Bar + Shortcuts: You can use the Search Bar to search for locations by entering a category, brand name, address, or city name. In addition, you can add up to 36 shortcuts to the Where to? menu. A shortcut can point to a location, a category, or a search tool.
    • Where I've Been/Trip Log: The "Where I've Been" application allows you to view your previous routes and places you have stopped on the map. In addition, the device keeps a Trip Log, which is a record of the path you have traveled. The Travel History setting must be enabled in order for the Where I've Been and Trip Log features to function.

Route Preferences/Avoidances: When calculating a route, you can select the following preferences; faster time, shorter distance, less fuel, or off road. You can also program the unit to avoid certain things that may be undesirable on your route; such as U-Turns, Highways, Toll Roads, Carpool Lanes, Unpaved Roads, and Ferries.

Auto Reroute/Detour: If you happen to depart from your original route, the internal navigation system recalculates the route and provides new route instructions. You can also select a specific area to detour around. The navigation system will attempt to get you back on your original route as quickly as possible, after calculating a detour. If the route you are currently taking is the only reasonable option, the DNX572BH might not calculate a detour.

Trip Planner (Multiple Destination Routing): You can create and save a trip with multiple destinations (up to 500 via points) using the Trip Planner. Once you have entered your destinations, you can manually set them in the order of your preference, or allow the device to calculate the most efficient route. Trip itineraries can be saved in memory for future use.

Trip Computer: The trip information page displays your current speed and direction, and provides helpful statistics about your trip. Dual trip odometers keep up with your total mileage. The page also indicates the distance and driving time to your next maneuver, as well as the distance and driving time to your destination. Your maximum speed and moving average speed are also displayed. The information can be reset in advance of your next trip.

Trends: The DNX572BH has the ability to recall frequent destinations and historic traffic information to help calculate your route faster.

    • myTrends: The myTrends feature senses when you are driving to a common destination and displays the destination and estimated time of travel in the navigation bar on the map. myTrends does not work when you first begin using your navigation system. To effectively use the myTrends feature, your frequent destinations must be marked as favorites, and a regular pattern of driving habits must be established with three days of regular driving usage.
    • trafficTrends: When the trafficTrends feature is enabled, the navigation system uses historic traffic information to calculate more efficient routes. Different routes may be calculated based on traffic trends for the day of the week or based on the time of day.

ecoRoute: The ecoRoute feature calculates your vehicle's fuel economy, carbon footprint, the fuel price of navigating to your destination, and offers tools for improving fuel efficiency. The first time you access the ecoRoute features, you will be asked to enter fuel and mileage information (Fuel Type, City Fuel MPG, HWY Fuel MPG, Fuel Price) about your vehicle.

    • Fuel Economy: If you have entered your vehicle profiles and the current fuel price, the DNX572BH calculates fuel used, the average fuel economy for your vehicle, your carbon footprint, and the cost of the fuel consumed.
    • At The Pump: At your next fill-up, you can enter in fuel price, amount of fuel used, and the distance you traveled to calculate your vehicle's miles-per-gallon (MPG).
    • ecoChallenge Tool: The ecoChallenge tool helps you maximize your fuel economy by scoring your driving habits. The higher your overall score for a driving challenge, the more fuel you could save. You overall score is the average of these 3 scores:
      • Speed: gain points for driving at the best speed for conserving fuel, which is 45-60mph for most vehicles.
      • Acceleration: gain points for gradual acceleration; lose points for rapid acceleration
      • Braking: gain points for gradual braking; lose points for hard braking
    • Mileage Report: Mileage reports provide the distance, the time, the average fuel economy, and the fuel cost of navigation to a destination. A mileage report (up to 20) is created for every route that you drive. If you stop a route on your navigation system, a mileage report is created for the distance you traveled.
Note: The data provide by the ecoRoute feature is only an estimate. The data is not actually read from your vehicle.

Safe Mode: Safe Mode disables all navigation system functions that require significant operator attention and could become a distraction while driving when the vehicle's parking brake is disengaged. You will need to engage the vehicle's parking brake to enter addresses or other advance navigation functions when you have the unit set to Safe Mode.

Travel Tools: The DNX572BH offers tools you can use as you travel. The World Clock allows you to display the current time for four locations throughout the world. You can also display a map of the world showing which portions are in daylight and which are in darkness. The Unit Converter helps you convert distance, speed, area, currency, temperature, volume, and weight. A Calculator allows you to perform simple arithmetic.

    • Parking Guide Lines: When a rear-view camera is connected and you are viewing a rear view image, parking guide lines appear on-screen making parking easy and safer.
Note: The rear view camera feature is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rear-view camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rear-view camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.

OEM Integration: This Kenwood navigation receiver is compatible with the iDatalink Maestro RR (794ADSMRR, sold separately); a web programmable module that will permit the aftermarket Kenwood receiver to work with select Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles that feature the factory SYNC system; as well as select GM vehicles with factory OnStar; select Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles with U-Connect, and select Volkswagens with factory digital amplifier. The iDatalink Maestro RR lets Ford/Lincoln/Mercury, GM, Dodge/Chrysler, and VW owners swap out their factory radio for this aftermarket Kenwood head unit; while retaining the Ford Sync system, GM OnStar system, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep U-Connect system, steering wheel controls, Bluetooth, USB interface, Satellite Radio, and 911 assist. You also get to keep the hands-free mic that comes with the car (which is specially tuned to that particular vehicle). In some installations, the iDatalink Maestero RR lets you configure the head unit to operate interior climate controls and provides extra visual data; such as User Selectable Gauges, Vehicle Info (Tire Pressure/Battery Voltage/Check Engine Codes/Door Ajar Warning), and Visual Park Assist.

Note: The iDatalink Maestro RR is web programmable, which means you'll need to flash the iDatalink Maestor RR interface module with the correct firmware from iDatalink's website. In addition to flashing the iDatalink Maestro RR module, you'll also need a vehicle specific harness (sold separately). The Kenwood receiver's OEM Setup menu must also be configured with your compatible vehicle's factory system before initial operation.

It will make them sound a little better because you will have more adjustments to the sound quality over a stock head unit but aftermarket speaker will get the best sound quality [ JASON D  Mar 19, 2016 ]
Hello Chelsea, good question. Yes the factory speakers might sound a tiny bit better but to really take advantage of the capabilities of this receiver new speakers are a must. It might cost you a quite a few dollars but you will be very happy with the sound. A lot of factory speakers are designed with only cost in mind. Tiny magnets, very inefficient and incapable of handling the power some of the newer receivers deliver. The Techs at Crutchfield can suggest the best replacement speakers and supply adapter plates if needed to make the install a breeze. You spent big money on a great receiver so spending/investing more on good speakers is the right thing to do. You will be amazed at the quality of the sound and the clean volume levels when you crank it up. So yes, it might sound a very tiny bit better than the factory unit while still using the crappy factory speakers. But rub some more pennies together and upgrade all your factory speakers. You will be glad you did! Paul~ No, I don't work for Crutchfield. Just my 2 cents. [ Paul  Mar 19, 2016 ]
It does have more settings for base etc. the trucks I installed them in need speakers for the sound to really improve. [ ANGELO P  Mar 19, 2016 ]
I believe it's the same logic as a camera - you can have one good and not the other but you're limited by the weak link. You can get better speakers for jot a whole lot more, and the DNX572BH is a whole lot of head unit for the money. Some mid level two way speakers would be inexpensive and be better than yours if they are truly awful; however, if you're not sure that's true, buy the deck first and then decide on the speakers. Again, this unit is a lot for the low entry fee. [ Rick  Mar 19, 2016 ]

It does not. Each antenna plugs into a different location on the unit. The good news is each antenna can be located in the interior of the vehicle on the dash board. I have the GPS and sat radio antenna located side by side on the dash board with good reception. [ STEVE A  Jun 17, 2015 ]
No, the Sirius connection has its own antenna. [ PATRICK  Jun 15, 2015 ]
I don't think so. The receiver has separate inputs on the back for a satellite radio antenna and GPS antenna. I bought a separate Sirius XM receiver and hooked it up to the DNX572BH. I've got two antennas sitting on the dash, one for GPS, one for Sirius XM. [ Luis  Jun 15, 2015 ]

You can connect to your android phone via Bluetooth. This is done through the Bluetooth icon. After you initially sync your phone to the stereo through Bluetooth, it will auto-sync as long as you have Bluetooth enabled, on your phone. The other way to connect would be via USB. If you have your phone plugged into the stereo via USB port, you would use the USB icon on the unit to control media played from your phone. [ Frank  Apr 27, 2015 ]

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: Kenwood does not making a steering wheel remote and other brands will not work with Kenwood I'm afraid. The Kenwood KNA-RCDV331 wireless remote will work for it but it doesn't have a way to be attached to the steering wheel. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy  Apr 02, 2015 ]  Staff
