Kenwood puts decades of experience into building their Performance Series subs, so you can have powerful, reliable bass in your vehicle. Check out the KFC-W2513PS 10" sub — you get a heavy-duty polypropylene cone reinforced by a tough rubber surround that accommodates the extra-long cone excursion. And this sub handles up to 300 watts RMS, so you can rock out out with plenty of thunder.

The Diamond Array Pattern reinforces the cone so that it won't warp during heavy bass production. A dual ventilation system pulls heated air out of the motor structure through the back and the sides of the sub, so the inner works stay cooler during those long, loud jams. Put this Kenwood in a suitable enclosure, power it with a nice amp, and get ready to party.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 225 and 450 watts RMS at 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have 6 and there is no comparison to the quality of the subs. They hit hard and no distortion.

Pros: Easy to install with the template and wire connections. Great pair with the Kenwood 500 amps

Cons: Have no cons with this product

Best purchase ever

Brad from Waterville, Ohio on 6/1/2014

I built a sealed box for two of these and wired it to a 1000 watt kenwood amp. Using crutchfield's wiring diagrams I wired it to run 500 to each, the amps rms is 300. These subs are 3 years old now and still work like they are new! I'm sticking with kenwood for all of my audio needs. Head unit, speakers, amp, and subs are all kenwood!

Pros: Great sound quality, durability.

Cons: My friends scoff at kenwood subs until they hear mine, they are a game changer!

John from Hickory, nc on 8/11/2013

Great sound.. But has blown twice in a year. Not even on a song that bumps. So dissapointed. Warranty went out last week. Had volume on 15 both times it blew. Fir ast was replaced for free.. Now gotta come out of pocket. Settings were hpf and lpf set thorough sub set +7 loudness +1. So it wasnt over beating. Using 1k wat excelon amp

Here comes the BOOM!

Terry ttg from Eugene, OR on 7/10/2013

I have installed numerous systems in my vehicles throughout the years and gotta say for price, technology, ascetics and sound quality this sub hits a ten in every category. I powered it with an alpine mrv-m500 in a 2004 Mazda RX8, kenwood 5.25 3 ways in the rear deck and kenwood 5.25 components in the front doors. I built a custom sealed box that matched the requirements kenwood suggested. for the price I doubt there's a better sub out there. All controlled by a Kenwood DDX318 this system blew away my expectations

Pros: Value, appearance, crisp tight bass

Cons: None

Extremely Happy

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put my first system into my 1991 Chevy Silverado 1500 I bought two of these 10" 's and then a custom fir QLogic Box that was meant for my truck. I Installed it all with a 600 RMS Amp from Kicker and all I can say is im EXTREMELY HAPPY! These hit hard for being in a truck; I got my Amp set to maybe 60/100 and I dont plan on taking it up anymore till I Dynamat the truck haha. VERY PLEASED! THANKS Crutchfield and Kenwood!

Blew out after a year.

Mike S from Langhorne PA on 1/17/2012

These subs sound great but at a low volume one of them blew out after a year.

recipe for bass

j from oh on 9/29/2011

Recipe for a chocolate milkshake: take one glass choclate milk, sit in car with two of these subs, play ur favorite song loudly and tada! u will get a milkshake. ok that was rediculous, but accurate description of the bass. nuf said.

Paul from Chicago on 7/3/2011

All I have to say is wow. I have 2 of these in a vented box powered by a Polk PA- 880 amp. They hit hard. I have had Rockford, Kicker, name it. The rumble from this sub is crazy. The reviews I read gave no love to Kenwood subs, but not true. These subs are probably the best I have had. For 10's, they are straight ridiculous.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have two of these sitting in a single, sealed enclosure with two individual compartments from SO, along with the Kenwood KAC-8105D amp and man does it sound incredible! I push these things as far as my ear can take, and at times they will render my rear view useless. I have it sitting in the back seat of my Chevy S10 Etx Cab. I'm wanting to kick up the level to max, just to see what they will do. Wonderful subs, great price.

Hands-on research

Product Research

Enclosure Compatibility

Cone: The KFC-W2513PS uses a polypropylene cone and rubber surround for added durability.

Heat Transfer System: A dual ventilation system design helps keep the motor structure cool, improving power handling and longevity.

Long Stroke Design: The pole piece has been extended to provide a more linear magnetic field for woofer operation. This lowers distortion and provides the woofer with better low frequency response.

Double Stacked Magnet: The stacked magnet assembly is used to create a powerful linear motor with increased excursion capability for superior bass output.

Spring Terminals: The spring post terminals on one side of the woofer connect to your amplifier's wiring. The posts will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.

Enclosure Compatibility

Sealed Box: Kenwood recommends a sealed enclosure with an optimum internal volume of 0.65 cubic feet (from 0.4 to 1.0 cubic feet is acceptable). Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music.

Ported Box: Kenwood recommends a ported enclosure with an internal volume of 1.0 cubic foot  (from 0.75 to 1.5 cubic feet is acceptable) using an 11" x 1-1/4" x 20" slot port. Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. However, this efficiency comes at the expense of very low frequency output.

Q & A

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

Hi Dustin, I paired this sub with an Alpine MRV-M250 mono amp and a Kenwood BT500S head unit. I selected 100hz initially, listened to it for awhile, and then switched it over to 80hz and listened to it for awhile again. I think that the 80 setting provides better low end than the 100 and so I kept it that way. There are a lot of factors that affect your sound quality and so I would suggest you do the same thing. Also, play with the firing direction of your sub/enclosure. Although the sound at these low frequencies is supposed to be non-directional, I have found (as have others) that the sound is affected in different vehicles. Hope this helps! [ Derek  May 07, 2014 ]
