Keeping it cool
A dual ventilation system forces heated air out of the motor structure through the back and the sides of the sub, so the inner works stay cooler during extended play. This ventilation system also allows this sub to operate in an extremely shallow enclosure, good news if you're building a box to go in a tight spot. Install this Kenwood in a suitable box, hook up a nice amp, and you're ready to rumble.

Enclosure Compatibility
Features
Heat Transfer System: The dual ventilation system design helps keep the motor structure cool, improving power handling and longevity.
Long Stroke Design: The pole piece has been extended to provide a more linear magnetic field for woofer operation. This lowers distortion and provides the woofer with better low frequency response.
Double Stacked Magnet: The stacked magnet assembly is used to create a powerful linear motor with increased excursion capability for superior bass output.
Spring Terminals: The spring post terminals on one side of the woofer connect to your amplifier's wiring. The posts will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs, or bare wire up to 8 gauge.
Trim Ring: The included cosmetic trim ring adds to the speaker's mounting height when top mounted. The mounting height (and flange height) becomes 0.65 inches.
Enclosure Compatibility
Sealed Box: Kenwood recommends a sealed enclosure with an optimum internal volume of 0.65 cubic feet (from 0.4 to 1.0 cubic feet is acceptable). Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music.
Ported Box: Kenwood recommends a ported enclosure with an internal volume of 1.0 cubic foot (from 0.75 to 1.5 cubic feet is acceptable) using an 11" x 1-1/4" x 20" slot port. Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. However, this efficiency comes at the expense of very low frequency output.
