I have 2 KFC-XW10 subwoofers in my truck, with an Alpine MRV-M500. I bought these subs specifically after a lot of research for 2 main reasons, the mounting depth, and that they are made by Kenwood! I stick with what I like and I have for many years, I use Kenwood head units and subs, Alpine amps, and Infinity speakers. Even though this was not a Crutchfield purchase (I found a deal I could not pass up) the Kenwood quality and warranty was enough for me to feel confident experimenting with different wiring options before settling on parallel with 2 Ohms at my amp. The result is bass that responds differently (and correctly) to whatever I throw at them. Feel free to laugh, but I listen to everything from R & B, to Opera and its all mixed up on my iPod. These subs transition quickly from song to song without getting sloppy or loose, and the sound quality is as good as it gets. For the mounting depth, these were the perfect since I have a sub box that sits under my rear cab seats and has all of 5.25" of space. I thought I was going to have to go shallow and spend a small fortune to stick with my first choice of Kenwood, but then I found these puppies!! Overall I give 5 stars in 5 out of 5 categories, even though 2 of my trim ring mounting screw hole backings cracked apart while hand tightening, in a star pattern, with only minimal pressure. Side by side holes on the same ring, could be a fluke, 2 tiny plastic washers and they are good as new. Expect these to hold up quite awhile!
Pros: Well made ~ Thick surrounds ~ Unique look & texture ~ Durable ~ Loud ~ Tight
Cons: I had an issue with 2 screw hole backs cracking on a trim ring, may have been a plastic mold issue, or just a fluke. Do not think twice about buying these subs!
