Monster XP speaker cable offers high-quality performance at an affordable price. XP is ideal for small speakers and desktop systems. Compared to the standard lamp cord you find at home improvement stores, XP's advanced construction delivers smoother, more natural sound, especially over long runs.
Average Customer Review(s):
This cable worked perfect to run my Heresy speakers with my Yamaha a-S501 integrated amplifier. Crutchfield shipped it with the amp 3 Day Select and on time. Thank you again Crutchfield for the excellent service.
Pros: Excellent quality at a low cost. Excellent performance.
Cons: Just make sure you pay close attention to the white lettering to distinguish negative from positive.
Great 16 gauge speaker wire.
Pros: worth it
Bought a pair of Klipsch speakers and wanted to do the right thing by getting great wires. And I am glad I did.
Pros: Good quality!
Great wire. Performs well and is super flexible.
Pros: Thick wire, well insulated, flexible, easy to solder.
Horribly overpriced for basic 16 awg speaker wire. There are much better options at other online websites at 14 and 12 awg for half the price. Also, the marking on the wires indicating the positive/negative are very challenging to differentiate. You're paying for the Monster name, and a steep price at that.
Pros: It will conduct power
Cons: Price Quality
only speaker cable I use
Pros: really heavy duty cable
Not sure why I'm reviewing speaker wire, but I will add to the debate about positive and negative confusion. My 100ft reel had NO markings at all and both wires were the same color. Another words no way to tell positive/negative. I basically guessed, ran my AVR setup, and let my setup results tell me if I had an out of phase speaker. Not sure why Monster cant mark certain reels of speaker wire? Certainly not a deal breaker, but after spending two days running wire for a 9 channel set up through my 103 degree south Florida attic, I don't feel like having to mess with speaker wire markings.
Pros: Its speaker wire
Cons: Which one is positive ?
good speaker wire for sure..
This is the ultimate speaker wire available to all that is worth buying for any bass speaker connections. The bigger the system the better for this type of wire. It is strong and able to stay firm while connecting with wire cutters. The best thing about the wire quality is that it is easy to clip, cut, connect and disconnect without too much hassle. It is also tough enough to defend itself from unwanted bites caused by unnecessary cuts and it is plastic strong based layered while clear viewed to see the wires inside its cord which is flexible. I love it!
Pros: Flexible, strong plastic cover that is tough enough to protect against breaks and flexible enough to bend easy
Cons: Dificult to distinguish pros and neg.
the name says it all
great cable, good price, fast shipping
If you want good sound, and have good components, why would you waste your money on anything else?
fan of monster wire for more time then I can recall never have issues with this stuff heavy duty looks cool what else do you need.
Great cable !
Good stuff, substantial jacket. Do it right the first time. No regrets.
Pros: Good product, good brand.
Quality is very good. Sound seems to be improved. Really didn't have the same trouble as other figuring left vs right.
It's much better then my old extension cord wire.
Pros: Great stuff
Excellent wire will continue to use
Very good product first time user
Pros: Quality and performance
Cons: Writing on positive side needs to be bolder more legible
Muy buena opcion este cable monster para los que no tengan muchos money Monster cable is a very good option for those who do not have much money
Pros: Ecelente Calidad a muy buen Precio Excellent quality and a great value
Cons: Ninguno NoneCrutchfield response on 6/29/2016 Translation provided by Crutchfield's International Sales & Support team.
Very good speaker wire.
Wouldn't use anything else! Monster never fails to perform. Don't understand why people complain about having trouble with positive and negative. All you got to do is use the side with writing for positive and the plain for negative and away you go.
Pros: Great wire. Very flexible and kink free.
If you want to go a little above and beyond, go with this solid speaker wire from Monster.
Simply the best.
Pros: Quality materials
Decent wire at a decent price.
Cons: Could be marked a little better to tell which wire is positive
The Monster speaker wire is made so well I have no problems running it or using it to connect my speakers. I have never had a need for better speaker wire until recently and am very impressed with the difference. Actually makes me wonder how the cheap wire even works when put next to the Monster speaker wire.
Pros: Easy to use. Does not knot, tangle, or break easy like the cheaper wires.
Cons: Can not think of one
Monster XP speaker wire is a high quality wire. There should be better markings for positive and negative.
Pros: Monster wire makes the speakers sound better.
Cons: There should be better markings for positive and negative.
Great speaker wire for a good price.
Pros: Solid speaker wire. Good sound quality. Decent price.
Item is aftermarket, so the quality is up to Monster, not Crutchfield. It's good quality wire.
Cons: Not enough labeling on wire to distinguish one strand from the other, making me have to trace from one end of the other.
i never thought that changing the wiring on my home theater system would make such a big difference. i have a premier sound system i am using a 1060 sony receiver on a setting 7.1 surround. i am using 5 bose cube speakers as the 4 surround and 1 as the center channel then i am using a pair of polk audio tsx440t as the front left and right connected to a polk audio subwoofer dew pro 660wi. i purchased everything from Crutchfield.com. amazing when i changed the wiring to moster xp i couldn't believe that my sound system actually sounds better than the movie theater.
Cons: just that the wire is thicker that others so is a little harder to conceal inside the walls but at the end is all worth it.
Nothing much to say, it is speaker wire and had just enough to rewire my 2015 Jeep Wrangler.
This wire was extremely easy to work with (stripping the wires) and the sound on my speakers is very good.
Pros: It's made by Monster.
Its speaker wire, what can I say. Its not the highest quality out there but its not the cheapest either. Its a lot better than the old lamp cord I was running. The jacket for the $5.95 banana plugs I put on them were pretty snug.
Pros: good quality, good price
Cons: none that I can think of.
Was a great match for the system I recently setup, sound quality is crystal clear and the quantity of wire was just enough for my setup!
Pros: Excellent sound quality
Cons: None that I can think of
I don't think there is a difference but didn't want to find out. Why buy 2000$ worth of speakers and skimp on wire. Even though this is not near the best but not the worst.
Works perfectly. Easy to use.
Great speaker wire at a good price. I used this for a 10ft run to a pair of Klipsch floor standing speakers. Insulation is nicely pliable for whatever your install needs are.
This product is fantastic very durable and sturdy. My one 12" sub that I have in my car now sounds like I have two in my trunk! It produces deeper and clearer bass. I would highly recommend this product
Pros: Sounds fantastic! Really easy to cut and install, also really appealing to the eye!
Cons: None yet!
Good quality cable at the price point. Used with all my new Cambridge Audio speakers and sounds great!
Pros: Good quality, price.
Handles anything thing I push through it. Nice quality and lets the music do its thing with no restrictions. Highly recommend.
Pros: Good quality, handles some nice power, no sound problems what so ever.
High quality speaker wire. No complaints about the performance, but it is on the expensive side for the length that you get.
Pros: Quality construction
I think is the best you can get if you dont have $1000 bucks to spend on the more expensive speaker cable wires.
Pros: easy attachment
It's speaker wire...what can I say....has good shielding
Easy to work with. Most importantly the sound is great
Good, clear sound from these speaker cables.
I had always thought that" speaker wire was speaker wire". Well, I was wrong. I did a comparison with Monster Cable vs my old speaker wire and there is a noticeable difference. There is even a more noticeable difference using smaller speakers. This makes my Polk RtiA3 speakers sound much larger with better definition. Monster Cable is well worth the money.
Pros: A great way to improve the sound of your system for a very small amount of money.
Cons: I will now have to replace all the speaker wire on my other speakers.
Works great with my vintage NAD / Boston acoustics setup.
Quality and Price, this wire is kind of hard to beat. I used this vs basic wire and you will hear a difference in power and clarity.. I'm very happy I switched. Monster seems to make high quality products and I can see it in this speaker wire. Yeah, you can always get better but this wire is right there not far behind..
Pros: High Quality and Clear and Powerful Sound
This is thick, well insulated, solid wire. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is I haven't had time yet to hook it up and listen to it. I'm still unpacking from a move.
Cons: None that I can see.
Monster always puts out great quality products. This speaker wire delivers clean sound. If you want the best sound from your speakers, quality speaker wire is a must.
Pros: Awesome quality
Great Quality matched for my Polk TSx110B Bookshelf Speakers. Provides quick install, crisp and clear sound. Easy order add on to my speaker order.
Pros: Quality speaker wires, easy install.
Excellent speaker wire.
Pros: Pliable smooth insulation and fine copper wires.
Cons: Clearer markings on the insulation to keep +/- separated.
Its a good Speaker Cable but its really long.
Pros: Great Quality
Cons: Long Cable
Nice heavy cable, works out real nice, just a little pricey
Pros: Great quality
Great wire at a great price. Easy to route. Good sound quality.
Cons: Gauge size not clear and wire coloring hard to tell at times
Cables are great, quality is superb, price and info from Crutchfield has been very good.
Pros: 40 years ago I used to use lamp wire. 25 years ago I used speaker wire, but lower quality and smaller gauge.
Cons: None at all
Great wire at a great price. Used it to wire up my Definitive Tech Pro Cenama 600. I'm really impressed with it. For the money you can't beat it.
Pros: Excellent quality wire at a good price.
This is good quality speaker wire at a reasonable cost. Worried about being able to determine polarity? Just look for the printing on one of the two wires.
Pros: Good quality at a reasonable cost.
Should have ordered more to change out other components
Pros: nice looking,
Good quality speaker wire at a decent price.
Pros: Easy to strip, easy to work with, good quality.
Cons: cutting to th correct length
The monster wire is an awesome product, it does exactly what it wad designed to do,reproduce sound without anything but what your supposed to hear! The whole line of monster products I use and between crutchfields support as well as excellent gear everything I have wanted to do is now a reality. Many thanks to crutchfield for knowing EXACTLY what works and what dont!!!! Thanks again
Pros: Work great eady to work with!
Cons: None as of yet!
Perfect wire , easy to maneuver and nice clean signal. You cant go wrong with this wire.
Pros: Very bendable, easy to maneuver,
Cons: Aren't any
What a wonderful update Monster cable was for my older set. HIGH quality and much better sound than I had before.
Pros: When I ordered I thought the price was high on the Monster cable, After installing it I found out the better sound was really quite inexpensive
This wire works great. Super easy to work with and in minutes I had the whole surround sound hooked up.
Pros: Cost, easy to use
Monsters cable quality simply can't be beat and this is no exception
Pros: good stuff
I think this is 12 gauge wire but I am sure because it does not indicate on the spool. It is good speaker wire for the money.
Pros: Both the plastic coating for the positive and negative are the same making it difficult to not hook up your speakers out of phase. One side of the plastic coating on the wire should be red and the other side clear. Monster should know better.
Sound is much better even on a low cost Samsung stereo system.
Pros: Easy to use
Easy to use, received the correct cable advertised, and the speaker sound is great.
Pros: Easy to use, cable marked well to allow right choice of leads on each end.
Great cable- great sound coming out of speakers. What more can one say!
Pros: All good
Monster XP cable is easy to use and guaranteed to work. The different colors it comes in makes it easy to match your baseboard/trim with what will work best - we got the "translucent" kind and it blends nicely. If you want heavy duty, long lasting cable, this is it, and Crutchfield sells it at a very reasonable price.
Pros: reliable, easy to use, attractive
This cable is very nice and easy to work with. There is text printed on one side of the cable that you can use to distinguish positive and negative connections. I bought an entirely new home theater system and wanted to use this cable so that I can get the most out of it, but before connecting the new system I hooked my old system up using this cable to test it as I already know how my old stereo would sound. The difference is like night and day. The most noticeable difference was in the rear surround speakers that each have a 30 foot run of cable to them. It seems the old speaker wire I was using could not carry the signal from the receiver to the speakers that far away very well because after connecting the Monster cables they were much louder and clearer, as well as the rest of the speakers too. Made me happy that I had spent the extra cash on this for my new stereo. I wonder if my old speaker wires would have made the new stereo sound bad after experiencing the difference Monster cables made to the old stereo? As a matter of fact, you could probably just save yourself some money and buy this cable for your existing stereo instead of upgrading like I did! Seriously though, if you are wondering if this cable will make a difference or not, or wondering if it's really worth it, just get it....
Pros: Makes your speakers sound better!
Cons: Wish I would have had extra to connect to our second stereo too! Looks like I'm buying another spool!
Very nice cables for a good price.
Pros: Lays flat and easy to work with.
The Monster speaker wire is a great product. The only thing that I was not thrilled with was that the two sides of the wire were not as easily distinguishable as I would have liked. It made installation a tad more of a chore than it needed to be.
This speaker wire is the best that I have found for you sound from speakers and works well and easy to work with.
Pros: It is easy to work with andnot cheap but always be sure to get enough for where your speakers are going to be from your reciever.
Cons: Add in the price on whatever your price is for your price
The wire delivered a good signal and the sound was very good.
Pros: Not much to say except it delivered as described.
Cons: Faint markings to distinguish each wire so I marked them with a magic marker before cutting from the spool. There was no gauge designation on the spool's label to indicate the size of the wire. At a minimum, this should be present.
GOOD WIRE AT A GREAT PRICE
Easy to work with, lays pretty flat, and seems to carry the audio very well to speakers.
Pros: Monster cable always a good choice.
Cons: No negative / psotive ( - / + ) marking on the wire, so if making a long runs, good idea to mark the cable so it is the same as at the other end.
Great solid speaker wire...thin enough to hide in base boards, yet capable of feeding your speakers the power they need to produce amazing sounds.
Pros: The best
Excellent quality. The color is too bright for my living room.
Pros: Quality product. Everything about Crutchfield is the best.
All wire are not created equil. I had 16 ga. speaker wire. I installed 230 ft. of Monster XP. One side of cable has white writting the other plain. you can choose either side to be positive as long as you are consistant thru entire install eliminating color codeing. Monster incorporates other technowledges in there wire besides attention to the wire. I have noticed not only cleaner sound with no distortion but also brought my speakers to life. The Crutchfield advisor told me it is rated at 16 ga. With the differance in performance it is hard to believe. I also use Monster LFE cable and Monster HDMI cables. Regardless of what type system you are wireing up Monster not only out performs all others but also takes the strain off the equipment you are using, as well as you ears and eyes. I agree 100% with another reviewers statement if you spend alot for audio and vidio electronics why would you go cheap on cables. Monster can only make base or mid priced sound and look better.
Pros: prrofesional grade quality at a affordable price.
Cons: Have not found any yet.
I have to agree with one of the other reviewers; why would you drop a bunch of money into a receiver and speakers, then go cheap on the wiring? I have a 7.1 system in one room and a 5.1 in another room, and it's all Monster cable all the time. Very pleased with the sound quality of both systems, you cannot go wrong with Monster.
Pros: Great product performance, lasts forever
Cons: It would be nice if the wire gauge were stamped on the wiring jacket
I never used more expensive speaker cables before but this cable sound good enough to me. Easy to use, easy to terminate and the jacket is durable. I use 4 of them bi-wiring to my speakers. They sound good.
Pros: Sound good.
Cons: No line or marking on the cable to indicate the positive or negative side except for small white writing on the cable. No gauge size is written anywhere.
This speaker wire is very high quality, it's wound right, it's got a lot of strands, the jacket is very sturdy. The only way you are going to find anything better is by buying some ultra high quality car audio wire, and even then, there won't be much difference. This stuff is the real deal. Why would you spend $1,000+ and then go and skimp on your wiring, makes no sense. If you don't believe me, research the quality of wiring vs. resistance, heat, sound, etc...
Pros: This stuff is the wire to buy, period.
the only wire i will use anymore for home speaker systems. it is wound correctly. the jacket is flexible and durable. i have found nothing like it on the market. others claim to be comparable but fall short, get the best.
Pros: absolutely for the pros, but anybody will be happy with this product.
Cons: the cons should be happy with this wire too.
Very happy with the monster cable and very happy with Crutchfield service!
Good quality cable , will use again
Cons: Web site is not clear on gauge size of cable
Nice wire, flexible. Easy to use/terminate
this wire delivers great sound clarity

myself l tend to use toward the peak power side while watching movies so on a amp of 250 or less I would use 14 gauge any amp larger I would use larger gauge wire. I've had some loude speakers glowing cherry red before.[ Kenneth Jun 14, 2017 ]
The way I understand it, Wire you install in the walls has a different coating that does not fill your building with toxic smoke if your building was to catch fire. Other than that running speaker wire is not going to cause a fire, just not enough power runs thru speaker wire to generate enough heat to cause you problems. Now keep in mind that this wire is smaller in diameter and would be easier to run behind a baseboard. Legally you would have to use a different wire to meet building codes.[ Robert Feb 20, 2017 ]
I placed mine along the outside of my shoe molding as I have it in a room with wall to wall carpeting. I believe it is safe to install behind the baseboard if there is adequate room and the wire covering integrity will not be broken. I have been happy with this purchase and if I expand my listening area with more speakers will order more.[ William Feb 20, 2017 ]
I installed Monster XP wire in my family room along my baseboard with no trouble not behind my baseboard . You just lay it along the baseboard and your carpet and it looks great. just try to keep it as close to the baseboard as possible. Square it around the corners for a nice clean look. You should not have any trouble. It works great.[ FRANK Feb 20, 2017 ]
I would say yes to your question and make sure the cable is in one long piece from receiver to speaker so you have no problems in the future and know that if you have a wiring problem come up its not from a worn connection between two spliced speaker wires. Also keep wire away from power outlet wiring! I hope this helps you.[ JEFFREY Feb 19, 2017 ]
It is multi-stranded 16-gauge cable. You will find this information on the product page under "product highlights".[ Kenny Feb 05, 2016 ] Staff
I would use outdoor wire for safety of my amp and speakers[ Kenneth Jun 14, 2017 ]
Bill,I have used it for a couple of years without any problems. I live in Wisconsin with diverse seasons. It has worked great for me.[ JOHN A Jun 29, 2015 ]
Bill, I've looked all over the cable spool and my paperwork, and I don't find anything regarding indoor or outdoor use. If it was me, I'd go ahead and use it for my outdoor speakers. But, I'm not you, so you might want to get some cable that says it's specifically made for outdoor use. Your call. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. --Gary. P.S. I got curious for myself so I called Crutchfield Tech Support: they said it would probably be OK if it wasn't directly exposed to the elements, such as rain, etc., otherwise you should get marine-grade wiring. Hope this helps you. --Gary[ Gary Jun 29, 2015 ]
It should be just fine in any location if not subjected to direct sunlight for extended periods. I do not know the UV capabilities long term, so shielding may be necessary. Otherwise, it is very good, heavy duty and flexible cable.[ STEPHEN Jun 28, 2015 ]
What is the white plastic tube for monster cable? [ Roland Jan 30, 2015 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: That wire is not in-wall rated, however here is a link to all of our current products that are;http://www.crutchfield.com/g_22112/In-wall-Speaker-Wire.html?showAll=N&tp=1432If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.[ Krissy Jan 20, 2015 ] Staff

The cable needs to be cut to length, the two wires separated for a few inches on each end, and then stripped. It could be carefully done with a sharp knife, but I'd recommend using a wire stripping tool.[ TERRY K Jun 18, 2015 ]
It has to be stripped, but it isn't hard to do.[ BRIAN Jun 18, 2015 ]
This is a 50-foot spool, so you cut the wire to the length you need, and then strip the ends. A cheap pair of wire strippers will work, or you could do it with a knife if you are careful.[ William Jun 18, 2015 ]
There is no gage on it . Since I bought it , I haven't use it yet[ DEFIA Dec 27, 2013 ]
I purchased rear channel speakers for my system from Crutchfield and asked for their recommendation on speaker wire. Bought the recommended Monster XP wire and I am very pleased with it.
