Awsome, just works
Achieved the desired result perfectly. It did drop one of the two incoming antenna wires from the factory stereo. What the difference is between those two, I don't know. I can't say I've noticed any degradation in signal quality.
you can't install an aftermarket HU into a volvo without this, unless you cut the factory antenna wire and add the standard antenna plug on to it instead. I'd choose the adapter as long as the cost isn't silly. This works well. Do note the volvos seem to have dual diveristy antennae; that feature is lost as this adapter just takes one antenna line and ignores the other.
Pros: can't easily install without this
Cons: none observed
Just what you need. Easy installation.
Pros: Great quality
Worked perfectly for my volvo! Plugged in perfectly to my 2001 Volvo V70 x/c
The only way to get the antenna to work on a Volvo and aftermarket stereo
Pros: Works perfect
This adapter fits perfectly and was literally a snap to install. So glad to work with Crutchfield and have all of these adapters organized for purchase.
Pros: Snap fit. Perfect cable length.
I noticed a drop in AM reception using this... oh well FM still works great
Had no problems getting it fitted into my 2004 S60 dash contraption, and still works great after a month.
Not much to it. Fit perfectly.
Pros: East to install.
Pros: Perfect fit. Works great.
Plug and play your radio
Pros: Plug and play
Couldn't be any easier.
Pros: Easy installation.
Does the job but somewhat fragile. Had to wrap the plug in electrical tape
Pros: Long reach, plugs right in, and it works as intended
Easy to plug in
Pretty straightforward. Absolutely necessary to convert the goofy Volvo factory antenna leads to the standard antenna out from the head unit. Much appreciated that Crutchfield includes it free of charge. Plug it in, good to go.
Pros: Long enough it doesn't cause problems.
Easy plug in works perfectly
What a brilliant connector! I don't know how you could connect an after market radio with out one.. Crutchfield thinks of just everything when you buy from them...
Pros: Its all good!
This product worked great (in conjunction with Item# 12040VL20) since my 2002 Volvo S60 does not have the standard antenna jack.
Pros: Easy fit, compact.
Easily plugs in to convert Volvo original antenna to aftermarket radio.
Pros: Easy to install
Product just plugged into the new headunit and the other end into the older antennae and wall-a. Working antennae.
Thank you crutchfield for letting me I needed this when swapping my stereo out of my xc70. I appreciate there detail in making sure I got all the parts I need to complete project. Easy switchover and happy with product.
Pros: it is a perfect transition cable.
Cons: the fact volvo had to use a different antenna hook-up.
Some Volvos are built with two antennas and the Factory connector has Terminations for both. This adapter will only connect one of them to the new Radio. Could be the Factory Radio is needed to select which antenna is providing the best signal.
Pros: Both ends fit
Cons: Eliminates one of the factory installed antennas
The adapter converted the stock Volvo plug to a universal plug just like it said. I think the length of the cable could be made a little shorter though.
This adapter did the job perfectly. It fit well and the reception with my new head is better than I had hoped for. I live in the sticks and FM reception from the nearest city is often questionable. I was a little concerned about signal loss in the adapter, but it does a great job. You can't beat the price (Free!) when you get it with a head unit purchase.
Pros: Good fit, good signal.
Works as promised
Pros: Simple installation.
flimsy - came apart at connection - had to order replacement now I have to take the whole thing oput again as well - needs beffier connect protion
Compatibility: This antenna adapter allows you to convert the factory antenna connection in selected Volvo vehicles to a standard male Motorola (Universal) connection. This adapter works with 1999 and up Volvos (Factory antenna to aftermarket radio). To be certain, always check the Auto Install Guide.
For FM Modulators: If you are installing an FM modulator, you will need this antenna adapter, plus 12040VL20.

Hello! I am not sure about the xc90 but in my s60 there is plug behind the stereo that you plug into, then the male end goes into the back of the new stereo. When you unplugged the radio antenna from the stock deck you should have been able to plug that into the female end of the adapter. [ michael Aug 09, 2015 ]
Right behind the radio it's a square plug [ Brian Aug 08, 2015 ]
