1994 Nissan Pathfinder
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I agree with one of the previous reviews, the antenna does lean out from the truck. I installed this antenna on a Pathfinder that was supposed to have the power antenna so the hole was round not square as it would be for this style antenna, I was OK with that and knew that when I ordered this one. I modified the hole to be rectangle and installed the antenna. It did lean. I bent the bottom where it screws into the base to make the whip sit straight, no problem with that. I'm sure the antenna would be fine if it was installed on the truck it is designed for. One other thing, Nissan changed the location of the antenna on the hardbody pickup, early models the antenna sat further forward on the fender and the tube the antenna collapsed into was straight up and down (early pickup antennas were collapsible), a few model years later, not sure of the exact year Nissan moved the antenna further toward the rear and the tube that sits inside the fender is on an angle to the front. This replacement antenna does not have the tube like the OEM antenna but it does have a small protrusion on the bottom that could get in the way of the inner fender. It may not be a good Idea for this antenna manufacturer to make one antenna than claim it fits 86 to 97 trucks.

Pros: cheap, works fine for receiving FM stations

Cons: one size fits all antenna for Nissan trucks, not all Nissan OEM antennas are the same, antenna leans when installed.

did not fit truck

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

did not fit truck. damaged truck by drilling holes bigger to try to make it work being I don't lie to return stuff and complain . now if I ever buy one from Nissan I wont be able to install it cause I need the smaller holes back . thanks crutchfield . and by look at it, if it would of installed, the way it was molded the antenna would of never stood straight up and down it would be at a 10* angle or so . oh yeah one more thing the box was bent so the antenna looked like a boomerang . but I was ok with buying a short one from the store .that's why I did not return the whole setup at the start of the whole job ....

Pros: none

Cons: everything about it

Crutchfield response on 5/14/2014 Our tech support team followed up with the customer. It seems that he ran into trouble getting the mounting holes to align. Normally the antenna should work fine, but sometimes, confusing situations pop up. That's true for any type of installation and that's why we offer free tech support to our customers. Not Worth It

1990 Nissan Pathfinder
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The factory antenna on my truck (1990 Pathfinder) was cracked and ready to completely fall apart. Ordered this to replace it, but that was a mistake. Because of the design of the truck, it's a not a simple job to replace. Total time twas about 4 hours - but that's not the reason for the low rating. I understand that they need to make these to accommodate as many vehicles as possible. For my truck, however, that means that the mast stick out to the side - a lot! The reason is that the top of the fender is not flat - it's angled a bit. And that angle is magnified by the length of the mast. The deflection is nearly a foot at the top and looks absolutely ridiculous. The underside of the fender mounting plate (the plastic piece with the cable attached to it) also has a connector for another antenna cable - but this sticks down so far that it hits the inside of the fender wall. I had to cut it off completely in order to get the plate to fit in. (I did check to make sure that this wasn't the cause of the deflection, and it's not.) It's going to stay on for now, just because I don't want to leave an open spot on top of the fender - but it's not going to stay on for long. I may get a factory replacement antenna so that it sits correctly, which would be worth the $60 price tag, or I may mount an antenna under the dash and just find a way to cover the hole in the fender. Anything is better than having the Leaning Tower of Pisa sticking out of my truck.

Cons: Very poor fit unless your fender is totally flat.

For the price and free shipping you can't beat it no where else..

Pros: Low price and no shipping charge

Cons: Only bad thing, you have to trim the piece with the rubber cap that is on bottom of mount cause the base will not bolt flush..just take the rubber cap off and trim it and put it back on..

Q & A

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

I ordered this exact antenna from you guys and I installed it but it was not straight, it leaned right. I was adjusting/bending it straight and I snapped the stud off-shit! So round 2! [ Chris  Nov 11, 2016 ]
