Metra's 82-3000C brackets will allow you to install select 5-1/4" or 6-1/2" speakers in the factory speaker openings of select 1995-09 GM vehicles. Please enter your vehicle information or call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to confirm that these adapters are compatible with your vehicle. Warranty: 60 days.

Important Note: Some 6-1/2" speakers use a larger frame and require a larger cutout. We call these 6-3/4" speakers, and they won't fit in this bracket. This bracket will only work with speakers that require a cutout diameter of 5-1/8" or less.

These brackets screwed very easily into the speakers very simple highly recommend

2002 Suburban front lower speakers. Useless for this application. Clips into the slots in the door but nothing else lines up. Loose and rattles, screw holes in speakers don't match brackets. Drilled holes in the doors, screwed in the speakers and put the brackets in the recycle bin. It's great that they throw the brackets in, but they don't work in a 2002 Suburban.

Pros: None for 2002 Suburban

Purchased these brackets assuming I could install JL-Audio-C1-650 into my Chevy Tahoe however the DO NOT work with these 6.5" speakers. There are no mounting locations for the speaker and so I'm better off drilling into the door frame now for a better fit which is what I was trying to avoid by purchasing the bracket. Very disappointed.

These brackets take all the guesswork out of replacing your speakers. Attach speaker to bracket, snap bracket into place. It's that simple. It took me longer to remove the door panel than to replace the speaker. First door took me 15-20 minutes, second door was less than 10. Crutchfield makes it so easy for you to do your own professional installation.

Worked alright, especially foe being included in the cost of speakers. Brackets are cheap, and better instructions with shortened screws that were necessary to mount the speakers in the factory location, would have been helpful.

Pros: Gives an OEM appearance without having to drill into the steel frame of the door.

Cons: Instructions too generic, needs to come with short screws.

Mounting brackets worked perfectly for subject truck.

Pros: Easy installation

Cons: Only one problem with door panel removing instructions. The instructions for removing the power window and door locking control panel insert from the armrest were incorrect. The instructions said pop the insert out of the armrest. WRONG!! There is a screw holding it in and if you try to pop it out without undoing the screw, you are going to break off the plastic piece that the screw, screws into. Now you have no way to secure the control module to the door panel and glue does not work.

didnt work in my vehicle . supposed to fit 6.5" speakers not happening. the factory speakers are under size more like a 6 1/4" though everything says 6 1/2". will not work with full or oversize 6 1/2" speaker. would work great for smaller 6 1/2 speakers or adapting to a 5 1/4". ended up just doing away with adapters and done some drilling in the doors and made my own spacing rings. which worked out great

Pros: made okay. good for just relpacing or going to smaller speaker.

Cons: does not work well with a full size 6 1/2" speaker

Brackets were provided free with 6.5" replacement speakers for the front doors on my 2002 Silverado. The originals were 6.75" speakers and died. The brackets themselves worked as promised and the speaker attached to it with no issues, and it snapped right into place without any hacking of the door. The screws that attach the speaker to the bracket however were too long and I had to use other screws that I luckily had on hand. The provided screws would not allow the bracket to clear the speaker hole because they were hitting the surrounding sheet metal before snapping in. Small problem with and easy solution.

Pros: Snapped right in to stock speaker location.

Cons: Screws that hold speaker to bracket too long

Pretty quick install, would be good if they made it a little more clear about cutting off the tabs on certain installations. Luckily, they were the same I used last time, so I just matched what I had done last time.

2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These brackets didn't fit the speakers I ordered. They fit my truck, but the speakers screw holes were larger in diameter than the bracket. I was forced to drill new holes in the tabs to mount the speakers. The brackets also came with ZERO hardware and the screws that came with the speakers fit their bracket.

Pros: They fit my truck

Cons: They didn't fit the speakers and required painstaking modification with sheet metal screws I happened to have and a dremel to cut the screws off on the other side so the tabs would fit. This resulted in metal dust stuck to the speaker magnet and some damage to the speaker frame and bracket because of the screw location and the size of the cut off wheel.

After re-installing the door panel on the first door I knew what to do and had the speaker/bracket assembly ready to go right in and completed the install in half the time on the second speaker. OK fit on a 2005 Suburban front door installation after an unexpected modification of the bracket. Installation required removal of side plastic tabs on the bracket with a Dremel tool. If I didn't have a proper cutting tool to remove the extra plastic, the installation would have been much more difficult.

Pros: Speaker screwed right to the mount and the mount clipped right to the factory panel AFTER modification.

Cons: Install required cutting off tabs from each bracket to make it fit. This was not expected and it increased installation time and complexity. A custom bracket should fit without modification, right?

DaveR from Farmington, Connecticut on 6/5/2015

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Metra 82-3002 brackets were very useful in mounting a pair of new Polk Audio db651s speakers in the front doors of my 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. However, the enclosed instructions only referred to 1995-1999 Chevrolet and GMC pick-up trucks, which caused me to telephone Crutchfield to confirm that I had the correct speaker brackets. Also, the diagram of the brackets on the front page of the instruction booklet shows two brackets that are a mirror image of each other (i.e. a bracket designed for the left door and a bracket designed for the right door). Unfortunately, the sealed package from Metra enclosed two brackets that were exactly the same (i.e. either both brackets were designed for the left door, or both brackets were designed for the right door). If the enclosed brackets were designed specifically for a left door and a right door, no alteration would have been required. However, as a result of both brackets being exactly the same, one bracket needed to have a large tab removed in order to properly fit the driver-side door. The easiest way, and safest way to avoid breaking the bracket, was to cut off the tab with a coping saw. The rest of the installation went fine.

Pros: Ease in mounting the Polk Audio db561s speakers in the front doors on my 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. No drilling was required.

Cons: Installation would have been easier if the enclosed brackets from Metra were designed specifically for the driver-side and passenger-side doors.

Works as designed, used little felt pads included to reduce rattling. And just bend off non used tabs with pliers. I did have to drill a few holes to align the Sound Ordinance 6.5 speakers, but really they are needed for my application. Again Crutchfield includes them for FREE!

Pros: Great fit and includes items needed for install

Cons: Have to drill holes in speaker

There weren't really any instructions for these, so took me a minute to figure out how they worked. Kept thinking these would clamp the speaker between the adapter and the door. Once I figured out to screw the speakers to the face of the adapter and then just pop the assembled speaker/adapter into the door it worked flawlessly!

Pros: Ease of use, no cutting required of any kind

Cons: Poor instructions

I had to modify this bracket extensively in order to install the speaker. It felt like there was nearly no bracket left after taking the dremel tool to it, which was required per Crutchfield technical staff. Well these brackets would be nice if they fit my woofer like stated But That's Just Not the case here I used Blaupunkt Blue Magic CX 160 6-1/2" component speaker system and they didn't fit flush on my speakers the diameter was to small so I screwed them on until they seated leaving a 1/4 inch from being flush against the speaker it all work out. They fit in the same bracket holes after cutting off some tabs but be careful instructions are very lame at best. After all I read seems the company doesn't check everything. Otherwise they would fit the speakers...

Pros: fits the oem bracket holes

Cons: doesn't fit 6 1/2 diameter speakers maybe smaller ones

1998 Chevrolet Suburban
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to mount some Kenwood KFC-1695PS speakers in my 1998 K1500 Suburban, after I discovered the strange way the stock speakers were mounted in there. The stock hole is too large to even just drill holes and screw in a 6.25" speaker, plus I don't like cutting things up where I absolutely don't have too. I ordered these for a reasonable price, and they work really great. I did have to cut some tabs off (two set of tabs--one for older trucks like mine, one for newer), and the fit was a little tight, but it allows my new speaker to fit (really painlessly) the same way the stock speakers did. These work really well, and if you have a Chevrolet truck that you want to replace the original AC Delco speakers in I highly recommend you get these, along with the stock harness adaptor, Metra 71-014C, so that it will go in just as the stock speakers did.

Pros: -Pretty Painless -Allows installation without cutting anything up

Cons: -Plastic is a little weak -Not totally intuitive that extra tabs need to be cut off.

JB from Florida on 12/20/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Immediately upon unboxing everything, I realized that these brackets did not even fit the speakers that they were sent with! 02 Suburban, and Blaupunkt, 6.5", 3-way speakers. That started a whole new ball game. The reason I bought these speakers (or any speakers, for that matter) was because I wanted an easy install without any modifications. I am disappointed with Crutchfield, and I feel duped into buying from them (again), with the promise of no modifications. I could have changed to more advanced, component systems, and bought from my nearest retailer, for the amount of modifications I had to do - 4 hour install, and I got lucky by salvaging some parts, and being creative. The brackets did fit the car. However, they were so wobbly, cheap, floating all over the place, that they made the factory ones look high end.

Pros: None

Cons: Didn't fit the speakers they came with. Wobbly and cheap on the car side. Cut tabs off. Screw holes did not align with speaker screws. Can't modify. Pretty much worthless.

The mounting required a few holes drilled and screws that weren't provided. I only mention this so another purchaser can have a few #8 - 3/4-inch or 1-inch screws on hand. The sheet metal screws that use a nut driver and self tappers are the best. No big deal. Thanks for recommending this product.

Pros: The thickness, OD and ID are properly sized. I was glad to have the mounting brackets.

Cons: On my 2006 GMC 1500 Sierra Crew Cab, the front speakers required 2 new screw locations per speaker and the back speakers required 4 new screw locations per speaker. This was a total of 12 screws needed for the installation.

Great idea, I mount the speaker to the bracket on my work bench did the electrical connection and just snapped the speaker in, Nice. Once again for my particular application this extra tab was not needed and made the rest of install go smoothly.

Crutchfield indicates that these brackets can be used for the rear hatch speakers on the Chevrolet Venture vans. This is not correct; they DO NOT fit the Venture, and most likely will not fit the Montana, Silhouette, Uplander, Relay, or Terrazza vans, either. I was extremely disappointed to discover this. You must use adapters when changing the rear speakers in the Venture hatch, mounting the speaker directly to the sheet metal creates horrible sound.

Spring clips of adapter fit loosely into 2003 GM Sierra door holes, and thin plastic adapter bent easily under pressure against Polk speaker allowing speaker to move/vibrate. I tried to firm it up by drilling holes in door where the bracket had extra tabs, but not enough tabs were available. If you can buy speakers that have tabs of their own, do it and simply drill your own holes in the door for a solid speaker mount.

Pros: Super simple and fast install

Cons: Loose, vibrating fit

These are the most amazing little things to ever be included with a set of speakers! I wish these could be included with ALL speakers. They work the same as the ones on the stock speakers, and just snap in place. No messing around with the doors, these go right where the stock ones go.

Pros: Great idea, and easy to use.

Cons: I used the included rubber spacer in between the speaker and the adapter, and had to take the rubber spacer from the old speakers to use between the spacer and the door. I would like to see two sets of rubber spacers included, but maybe that's just me in my overkill for buzz prevention. Still love it, though.

I had already read that these may or may not work with my 97 Suburban. If I had not used Baffle Mats/Boom Pads, then I believe these would have worked fine...with slight modification. Easy to see which parts need to be clipped/removed when inspecting door and original clips. If you plan on installing Baffles then spend your money on some self tapping screws instead of these clips. If you opt out of the Baffles then I'm sure these will be fine. Just be CAREFUL as the plastic can crack in unwanted areas due to the stress of clipping unneeded pieces.

Pros: Fit without Baffles

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The brackets perform their function well in matching the openings for the speakers both fore and aft in my minivan but they do require more drilling and modifying than I anticipated. I also needed additional hardware in the form of screws, which for me wasn't too complicating because I have a ton of leftover fasteners from other projects, but I was a bit surprised because with other Crutchfield kits I've used in the past it was all-inclusive of what was needed to complete the install. In my case I also had to cut-away all the external tabs and leave just the solid ring with screw tabs.

Pros: Worked perfectly, fit well, handle the vibrations of the speaker at any volume or bass setting without vibration.

Cons: If you don't have screws on-hand you'll need to buy some to mount the speaker to the bracket because the quick-nuts and screws provided are insufficient.

Mark from Canajoharie, NY on 5/4/2011

These adaptor rings snap right in my early 07 Siverado 2500 and made mounting the new speakers a piece of cake. What more can I say?

The top part of the mounting bracket looked like it had been cut off and it would not hold tight in the mounting holes in the door.

Made the installation of the front speakers a snap...literally! Attached the speakers to the adapters, attached the speaker wire adapter and clicked it all in place in the door. Easy as pie!

Much better than expected. I added some speaker foam tape to the cutout on the steel door frame to tighten up the gaps, but install was seamless.

I have an 05 silverado and used these with 5.25 replacement speakers and did not have to drill anything. I just screwed the speakers to the bracket and it clipped right in. If you use the 6.5 inch speakers you might have to use shorter screws to mount the speaker to the adapter or drill a hole for the screws to go through. Either way its an easy install. I used some kicker 5.25 speakers and they do not give off as much bass as my factory speakers which looked like about a 6 inch to me after I got them out. If I did it over again I would probably use the 6.5 speakers.

No drilling of modifications to the vehicle required. Just attach the speakers to the mounts and clip the mounted speakers into the vehicle. Great fit. No problems.

Fit door, not speakers

Once I cut off the extra bits (which was easy enough) the rings snapped right into the door locations in my 1998 C1500 Chevy Pickup. Problem was the ring diameter was too small to fit the speakers, Sony Xplod XS-GTX1621S. The screw holes in the speaker extended to the very edge of the plastic mounting ring and would not have held. Have had to drill holes in metal part of door to mount speakers, which took a bit of extra care to ensure proper alignment with door panels. Just glad they were free with the purchase of the speakers, because I would have been very upset if I had to have purchased them.

Would have been perfect...

These would have really made my installation simple but, my speakers were too small. I did not get to use and had to drill holes.

This product is perfect. It fit in the slots that the original speakers came out of and just snapped into place. I didn't have to do any drilling. It took about 1minute to install my replacement speakers once I got the door panel removed. The instructions for removing the door panel worked just as instructed.
