Worked perfect to install my Pioneer head unit
Took me forever to figure out how to install this and then it did not fit right, did not come with instructions, so it's pretty much left up to you to figure out.
Cons: No instructionsCrutchfield response on January 19, 2017 We're sorry you had issues with your mounting kit. If you need our help again please just reach back out to our tech support team. Worked in my double din AVH-4200NEX receiver into a 2004 Ford Mustang Cobra. The assembly is fairly straight forward, but the directions are garbage. The screw to attach the rear bracket was not included with the kit or the receiver, but luckily I had the right screw on hand from another project. The gaps on the side of the mounting plate and face of receiver aren't completely even.
Pros: Works as intended
Cons: Not super sturdy, rear mounting screw not included, side gaps not completely even, bad directions
It's a dash kit! Seems well constructed, fit perfectly in my 2003 Mustang Mach 1. Was automatically recommended by Crutchfield.
Pros: Fit great, had all the parts I needed. Looks almost factory installed.
The bezel looks good; however, the brackets to attach the head unit need to be modified on certain models because the mounting holes don't quite line up. I also think that the bezel could be made of sturdier material, as it will bend very easily. Other than that it gives a factory appearance once it's installed.
Pros: Fills gaps and give a good "finished" look.
Cons: A little flimsy and mounting holes require modification.
The trim piece fit very nicely into my 05 expedition and has a very clean look. My head unit would not accept the rear support rail piece because it has a heat sink on the back of it "Kenwood DDX773BH".... so I put a few strips of 3M double side tape on the rail which the head unit sits on to prevent any vibration. All in all it looks and turned out just as planned.
Pros: Looks very clean an installed without any modification!
Cons: The rear support would not work with my kenwood DDV773BH
Takes some bending and twisting, a little shaving, but overall pretty decent.
My new unit wont fit. Too big.
Cons: Check size before you buy.Crutchfield response on October 11, 2016 Stephen, we're sorry you're having problems with your installation. Our Tech Support team is reaching out to help him get his receiver installed into this mounting kit, or help him return it for an exchange or refund.
Fits great looks factory fresh!
Pros: Perfect fit
works great! The only thing i didnt like about it was it did not come with an instruction manual so we had to figure out how to piece it together, which just took an extra 10 minutes or so.
Cons:Crutchfield response on August 9, 2016 We're sorry to hear that you had some difficulty with the installation. We send out the vehicle-specific installation instructions ahead of the order (as an attachment to your shipping confirmation email) so that you can familiarize yourself with the installation requirements before receiving your order. And if you ever run into any problems during the installation, don't hesitate to call our Tech Support team. They're standing by, seven days a week, and their help is free, as a benefit to our customers.
Installation made easy, looks great
Easy to use and holds the stereo securely
Pros: Has plenty of crew holes for many mounting options
Cons: Throw the instructions away and figure it out. If you can't figure it out you shouldn't be trying to install your own stereo anyway.
What can I say? If you are installing an aftermarket double din stereo into an 03 Mustang, like me, then you'll be needing this. Worked a treat
Pros: Allows you to install an aftermarket stereo into your Mustang
Makes it easy to fit aftermarket radio
Pros: makes fit look like it belongs in the car
Cons: had to do some light trimming to get proper fit
This dash kit perfectly fit my expedition. All of the pins and clips were in the exact place they should be.
Pros: Perfect fit
Cons: Seems flimsy compared to the stock radio mount, but it hasn't broke
This made installation a snap, comes with hardware to fit probably any unit in the world....
Pros: large selection of screws for the unit
Cons: no screw type for the rear T rail mount for the clarion unit I was installing, had to reuse old one from unit removed from car
Made stereo install a snap!
Pros: Fits like factory, easy to assemble
Easy to use and install. Fit perfectly without any need to alter the harness.
This dash kit was perfect. At first I didn't thing it was going to fit well, but when I was done it looked better than the original equipment. This dash kit provided a solid mount for my new radio. I would recommend it to anyone.
Pros: Fit perfectly.
Very easy to use. Good instructions, snap together and you are ready to go.
Pros: Quick Easy Clean Simple Solid
This product is so helpful and free, always love crutchfield because they include just what you need to install
Pros: easy to use
Simple product that worked fine.
Pros: It fit. It mounted on the receiver and closed out the area in the dash between the receiver and the dash.
Cons: Lack of clear instructions. Particularly the end piece that attaches on the back of the receiver. Not sure I used the correct screws and the ones I did use were not enough to mount the sides and back.
perfect fit,no problems installing new radio
This kit comes with very vague instructions and the people at Crutchfield don't really know how it works either. They were nice but not very helpful.
Pros: Almost fit.
Cons: Didn't fit. Only kit that is supposed to fit. Little instructions.
Included in the kit for my Kenwood upgrade, this was the cherry on top as far as fit and finish. Very happy with it, and the help from the Crutchfield Team, thanks again Crutchfield! Future customer along with being a promoter of your's to my friends for sure!
Pros: Factory fit and finish.
Cons: None, couldn't be happier!
Not a perfect fit but got the job done.
Pros: Fit was very tight and radio feels very secure.
Cons: Front piece almost too tight, was afraid plastic might break but looked fine once front panel was put on. Rear bracket was too short so drilled another hole in it at the tip and was able to make it work.
I only used the side brackets, but they made for a perfect fit. without these i would have had to fabricate my own brackets.
Pros: Easy install.
Cons: Plastic. They seem strong, but metal would have been nice. Should be fine though.
This dash install kit gets the job done.
Pros: 1. Speeds up receiver installation. 2. Helps maintain a factory install look.
Cons: 1. Plastic is on the thin side. 2. Rear support for receiver is way too small and will not fit over rear mounted heatsinks in a double din radio. Other applications may not have this problem.
makes install a breeze perfect fit
Pros: simple to install
Cons: wish it was made of metal all plastic construction could use some metal for a more secure fit was afraid it could break in my handling
Sturdy and easy to use.
Pros: Simple and effective
Cons: Not sure how strong plastic is.
WORKED FINE NO ISSUES
Pros: NO PROBLEMS SIMPLE INSTALL
This was a perfect fit. The first kit that was sent with the stereo was the right number but the wrong plate for the dash. One email to Crutchfield and they shipped the correct one the next day
Pros: Easy to attached with the supplied screws
Perfect fit, holds head unit sturdy
Pros: Perfect fit, holds head unit sturdy
Perfect kounting kit for my explorer
Not much to say It worked as it should.
Pros: worked fine
The rear bracket would not fit the radio that I purchased. I was told by Crutchfield that it wasn't necessary. So far, so good.
Pros: Easy to use.
Cons: The textured plastic that shows does not match the radio or the dash.
Made install easy. Gives perfect factory fit and look
Pros: Perfect fit
I used this to install a Kenwood DPX501BT in a 2003 Expedition. Everything fit pretty well. No trimming needed. There was no screw to attach the rear "A" slide mount to the back of the radio. I could have figured it out, but the radio did list the size needed. Otherwise, no complaints.
Pros: Worked well!
Cons: Missing one little screw. Well, it wasn't "missing". It just wasn't included. No big deal for most folks.
Easy to use, made install very easy
Perfect fit. Made unit look factory. Rear bracket could not be used, too short for double unit.
Pros: Bolt on, great fit.
Cons: Rear bracket too short for double unit.
EASY INSTALL with a FACTORY APPERANCE.
Pros: LOOKS GREAT!
Put together and installed in like 5 minutes..no issues.
Cons: There were two extra tabs on the top of the dash kit that were not needed and got in the way when installing..but a quick break of both of them and it when in just fine.
easy install perfect fit matched interior perfect
Pros: see reveiw above
perfect fit for ford explorer 2005
Fit very well, no modification needed. Quality is great, solid.
Pros: Works like it should.
Works without issues
Pros: 100% pro
Cons: No cons
Fit great. No mods needed.
Pros: Easy to install. Great fit.
Cons: Screws weren't right for radio. But it works.
The Metra Dash kit was the perfect fit for my Sony WX GT90BT radio that I installed myself into my 2002 Ford Explorer XLT. The entire process took about 1 hour (no big deal) The screw holes in the bottom of the dash kit fit lined up perfectly as did the aligned holes.
Pros: The interior dimensions of the dash kit were just about near perfect.
Cons: Had to trim the top of the dash kit just a bit. I probably didn't need to do it but I wanted the unit to fit Exactly!
Perfect fit.. perfect installation.
Crutchfeild sent all the installation components that was a big help. I had the stereo installed in a hour. The metra kit I used seemed to be the quickest kit I've ever used and quality was great.
Pros: Easy to install
Good quality kit, strong hold
Pros: Strong tabs
Cons: Upper lip too thin, tends to warp
Very good mounting bracket. I used it to mount my Kenwood DPX500BT radio in a 2002 Ford Explorer. It was an exact replacement for the OEM mounting for the factory radio.
Pros: Easy of assembly
This adapter makes my new radio look like it came from the factory, and made the installation a piece of cake
Pros: Ease of assembling and it fit......
Adapters fit perfect. I didn't use the rear slide adapter. There wasn't anywhere to screw it in because the stereo heat sink was in the way. The stereo is very snug and tight without the rear slide adapter. Looks clean and professional.
Pros: Very easy use. Tight secure fit. looks good.
Cons: No place for the rear slide adapter to mount on my stereo. But it wasn't really needed.
The Metra kit did the job perfectly. I had no further adaptations to fit my car stereo. I recommend it.
Awesome fit! Perfect!!!
Pros: Perfect fit and easy to install
Directions were super easy to follow and gave my new stereo a professional and finished look once installed.
Pros: Easy to install, professional look
Was a very simple install in my car and the black face matches my interior very well. I am satisfied with the mounting kit.
make the install look like a factory radio. Couldn't be easier. Instructions were concise and straight forward.
Pros: Very easy to mount and install
Great price and very fast shipping.
Pros: Installed great and very easy to do.
Easy to setup!
Pros: Easy to put together
Fits like a glove
Pros: Worked great
Not only did this unit fit perfectly in my '05 Aviator, it also looked good as the border/faceplate for my new Clarion NX603. No problems at all with assembling it around the unit or installing it in the vehicle.
Pros: Great look, great quality.
Works awesome, did exactly what it was supposed to do.
Pros: Fits great
Item worked ok after getting help from tech support to add to included hazy instructions.
Pros: Fit is good
Cons: Rear sliding portion of the mount is useless with the JVC Double Din radio. It is to short, when you try to put the screw in the slot the mount does not extend low enough to engage the slide rail in the vehicle.
secured radio and has a nice fit and finished look
Pros: Good fit
The kit was a little confusing at first but once I figured it out it was a snap. Had to remove all the mounting brackets from the stereo before using it.
Pros: Really provided a snug fit without rattles. Of course used a little bit of cardboard on the sides for an even tighter fit.
Cons: The rear mounting brace was too short and a screw that fit the receiver was not provided. In the end I used a longer screw with some wide plastic like washers that stuck out about 2 inches. This some how provided the stability I was looking for. Must have come in contact with the rear of the opening.
Fit perfect in dash but there was no way to use the back support with the pioneer radio
Pros: Fits good
Cons: back surport
Got this with a Pioneer AVH-BT 2500 head unit to install in an '04 Mustang. Fit and worked well, but the rear bracket, which attaches to a rail for support behind the dash, was not tall enough to mount on the back of the Pioneer. So, I had to install without it and hope the head unit didn't bounce around while driving. So far, so good. Fortunately, it has not yet affected ability to play discs while driving. Still, it needs more options or flexibility for fitting a wider range of decks.
Great fit. Looks custom. Made install extremely easy.
Pros: Looks great, easy install
Made the install look clean and very close to factory.
Great product easy to assemble, fits perfect, looks awesome.
Helps my Pioneer App Radio look like it was a factory install.
Pros: Helps the installation go smoothly.
most have for the complete look
Perfect fit...Made my install a snap!!!
Pros: Does just what it should
Fit nicely in my '04 Expedition. It didn't come with a bolt for the rear support. Instructions were to re-use original bolt, but, Ford radio hardware was incompatible. I found a bolt from my workbench that worked. However the rear support my have been optional for my application.
Fits great and looks like factory
Pros: Good looks
Cons: Flimsy, I hope it lasts
Easy to use
The installation was a breeze! Intructions were easy to understand.
Pros: Perfect fit, stylish
Very easy install kit to put in. It had everything I needed with it and fit like a glove.
Fit right, looks good
Fit my Expedition very nicely
Pros: Good fit
Cons: Plastic tabs are weak
Fits perfect and looks good
Made installation a snap.
The kit fit but I really don't like the finish of the plastic. A lot of Metra kits have poor quality finishes on them.
Cons: Not attractive.
It didn't take long to realize that the sleeve would make the installation much easier and neater looking. Only one glitch was that the rear bracket slot was just slightly too small for the BOSS receiver being installed, so I had to enlarge the vertical slot by about 1/8" so the bracket would engage the lower rail in the Mustang 2002 console and keep the receiver in the proper orientation vertically. Side brackets had 4 holes that lined up with the BOSS receiver screw holes, but unfortunately the proper screws were not provided by BOSS or Crutchfield, so I had to improvise with screws I found in my collection.
Pros: Sleeve made installation neat and easy, side brackets lined up with holes in receiver, instructions were clear and handy for disassembling the Mustang console.
Cons: The rear bracket needed a slight enlargement of the vertical slot to align the receiver properly with the horizontal rail in the Mustang.
Mounting kit worked perfectly for my 02' Saleen Mustang with the Mach 1000 system. Looks like it was installed professionally.
It worked! Imagine that, the installation kit for my truck, fit.... my truck! /sarcasm. Installing the radio with this unit was pretty easy. However: Had to modify the rear support bracket. With my AVH-P3400BH, the slot in the bracket was a bit off. So I took a pair of small snips and extended the top of the slot so everything would line up on my Pioneer, and my truck. Seems to work fine. I'm a bit worried about the quality of the plastic though. Doesn't seem too supportive for bigger units. Also, had to go to a local hardware store(Lowes) and purchase a screw that would fit the rear bracket and screw into the back of my Pioneer. This could be at fault of Pioneer supplying the right rear support screw...
Pros: Easy to assemble and install.
Cons: Flimsy plastic..
Installed in a 2005 Ford Explorer. Instructions did not say to remove radio's outer metal sleeve before attaching plastic side brackets. Front bezel & side brackets seemed flimsy. The rear support bracket did not attach because the rear threaded hole was tapped in too high a location. I had to drill & tap my own. Then upon installation the rear plastic support bracket bound up too tight on the OEM metal slide. Overall a below average rating.
Pros: Easy to install and set up.
Cons: I had to drill another hole (higher up) in the center mounting bracket to fit the unit in my car. Otherwise no problem.
This kit did fit my Clarion CX501 and adapted it to my 2005 Ford Expedition. However, its all plastic. I was expecting a metal bracket. Oh well. Looks great from the outside.
Pros: It works.
Cons: Flimsy plastic.
It is all plastic and the instructions were limited
Installed a Pioneer AVH-P2400 into my 2004 Mustang almost perfectly. The bracket at the back wasn't perfect but it still worked well, and I thought that a screw would've been supplied for that bracket. Having said that, I still give it 5 stars
Pros: Fits well, and looks good.
Cons: Rear bracket not quite perfect and no screw.
The larger front bracket fit the AVH-P8400BH Pioneer deck just fine. It fit and looked just fine from the front.
Pros: Easy to install
Cons: The rear support bracket DOES NOT work with the Pioneer deck. There is nothing to put the screw in on the back of the deck. All I could do was just install the deck without the rear support. It seems to be ok.. Even if there was a place for the screw in the back the deck for the rear bracket itself would not fit with the added plug-in for the iPhone connector.
I have a 2002 Ford Explorer, which has a "slide rail" in the dash on which the rear of the head unit is supposed to mount. This kit includes the rear mount plate that is supposed to attach to the rear of the head unit, but the head unit I purchased does not have a screw hole located coincident with the slots on the rear mount plate. As such, I was unable to use the rear mount plate to properly mount the rear of the head unit to the vehicle. I had to rig the thing so it wasn't sitting like a cantilever, mounted at the front, but leaving the rear to flop around and bang against the slide rail when I go over a bump. I'm sure this kit would work well with most head units, so I'm not sure if I'm disappointed with the adapter kit, or with Crutchfield for saying that the kit+my purchased head unit was "compatible" with my vehicle. To be fair, I did install the unit and like it, but it was not "easy breezy" like it was made out to be on the site.
Pros: Front bezel looks clean and decent. Fits well. Mounts securely to head unit and dash.
Cons: Rear mount plate does not work with all head units, so check the pictures of the back of the head unit on the site first, and make sure there is a screw-hole fairly low toward the bottom center, to which the rear mount plate can be fastened.
I had to elongate the holes so they could match up with the DUAL radio. Other than that the kit fits in the Mountaineer.
The build quality on the bracket feels a bit "weak". The plastic side support brackets and the way they fit in to the face don't give you much confidence that it's going to hold up. But once it's in, it's pretty sturdy.
Pros: Easy to install.
Cons: Feels cheap.
Kit would not work correctly with the Sony XNV660BT A/V Receiver, BECAUSE the REAR SUPPORT BRACKET was TOO SHORT to fit the Sony Receiver.
Pros: Panel fit the radio OK.
Cons: Rear bracket not long enough!!
Item as described. Very easy to use. No directions required for this.
Pros: Ease of installation and Factory appearance
Worked well. Would have benefited from instructions to remove the casing on the stereo. Had all hardware except the rear screw which was dissapointing as I had to take a trip to the hardware store.
Pros: Fit Well
Cons: Missing Hardware
I used most of the Ford package. It is plastic but thats OK. The only problem is with the unit your trying to use the kit with. The JVC KW-500 comes with a bunch of metal brackets and plastic trim on it that have to be removed before you can apply the Ford kit. Then the rear mounted piece that fits in the track in the Mustang has nowhere to be mounted on the radio without drilling a hole in the new radio, and thats not going to happen. It fits just fine without it.
Pros: Could not install in Mustang without it. Looks like it belongs there.
Cons: It is reasonable that Crutchfield cannot go through every aspect of every radio fitting every vehicle.
The product works great if you don't have a detachable face. If you do you will need to modify the kit...(I had to)
Pros: Looks good
Cons: Needed modification to allow for removal of detachable face.
Seamless results in no time.
Pros: Looks like OEM finished product.
Used w/ a JVC KW-HDR720 and had to cut the guide so it would fit and had to drill a hole in the back of the receiver to attach the guide. The rest of it fit beautifully and the install looks like a stock factory setup would. I am extremely pleased with the results.
Very simple to use. A few extra wires that were not required for my installation confused me at first, but tech support was excellent and gave me all the right answers right away. Harness adapter is a great idea that makes the self install a lot easier, in fact makes it possible for the car owner, saving some bucks for the overall cost.
While this kit worked it wasn't great. The bezel doesn't quite fill the dash opening and the rear bracket is too short to be usable.
With the exception that all the pieces are plastic, this kit secured my radio solidly. It also gave my new head unit a professionally installed look by filling any space that may have been noticeable due to the size of the head unit and the factory opening.
This kit made mounting my Kenwood DNX-5160 in my 2004 Ford Explorer a dream. Finished product looked like a factory original. Sturdy mounting, converted receiver into an exact factory replacement mount. Only thing I could see that was a draw draback was that there is no place to mount the rear guide bracket on the Kenwood. This was not an issue as the body of the receiver rested on the guide rail. I would recommend this kit to anyone.
Perfect fit for a Ford Explorer, no modifications needed.
Works great to add a Sony Double-Din head unit to my Explorer. Included the cable to connect the factory subwoofer as well.
The kit was great and fit perfectly. Again, Crutchfield Support was right there when I needed them. Easy stuff!
Everything fits the dash & head unit satisfactorily. Reasonably good appearance overall. Only disappointment is lack of method to secure head unit to dash structure. This is only an issue for preventing/slowing theft of head unit from car.
No issue was a perfect fit.
The Ford in-dash kit fit so well that you can't tell that it is not factory installed.
This kit came with my Kenwood DNX-6160 In-Dash Stereo/DVD/GPS Unit. The kit works like a champ, and all the connections were made with little to no effort.
Made of plastic but does the job well. Had JVC unit in the kit in seconds and slid right into the dash. No issues at all and the install looks like a pro did it even though it was my first time.
It fit the double din Clarion CX400 well but tabs in front are thin plastic and not very strong. I heard one crack as I tightened it. The factory bracket is very strong metal and can be tightened better. Of course the factory bracket cannot be transferred. Argh! Also had to install without the rear brace/slide. It is not tall enough for the Clarion and some screw heads on the back interfere as well. The instructions were dead on. Only the four factory electric plugs are hard to see and detach but no fault of Crutchfield. You will need a small pocket screwdriver and good light plus a bit of luck. There is plenty of sharp edged metal exposed once you are inside the dash so be careful with fingers, hands and pulling wires over the sharp edges. My suggestion as an engineer is the have the mounting tabs thickened by modifying the injection mould and add some length to the rear brace. We installers (amateurs and pro's) can take it from there.
This kit fits pretty well in my 2002 Mountaineer. However, it is just barely too wide for the opening and so the plastic trim bends just a bit. Also, the rear support is not tall enough to work with my Avic-Z3. Otherwise, it holds the unit well enough and looks good enough that I'm not going to return it. Shipping was very slow - it took over a week for the kit to arrive, and I only live a few states away! Apparently this was due to recent snowstorms, but I would have thought a return of my shipping fee wouldn't be too much to ask.
It worked with my Ford Explorer except for the rear mount would not work with the JVC stereo I installed. The JVC has a large heat sink on the rear of the unit and the rear support does not fit. It's in and working fine less the rear support.
Fit right in, no problems.
This kit was easy to install and looks great! The only issue I had is that I was installing an Alpine IXA-W404 unit and had to elongate the slot in the rear bracket for it to fit.
AWESOME PRODUCT WAS SUPER FAST TO INSTALL AND LOOKS FACTORY
This kit didn't work for the Jensen UV8020. The view screen is too large for the kit.
Great product. Made installation in a 2004 Explorer painless
Great fitment. Installed a Pioneer AVIC-90BT and it looks great.
Used to install a Kenwood 6019 into a 2005 Expedition. Worked perfect, unit looks like it was installed at the factory.
This adapter kit fits perfect plus it was free with the purchase, I am very satisfy with this kit and I will buy another one in the future for other cars.
Not a direct fit. Had to modify. Required drilling a new hole in rear support bracket as the original hole area did not align with the double din radio. Required driling 2 new holes in the side mounting brackets as 1 of the 4 holes on each bracket did not align with the factory holes in the double din radio.
I've purchased car kits from Crutchfield in the past and they all worked well. This kit wasn't quite up to their normal standards. I had the same problem as another reviewer with the support. I was using the kit with a 2004 Explorer and a Pioneer double din receiver. I had to drill a hole for the part to work. That wasn't a big deal but there isn't a lot of plastic to work with so my guess is the support was significantly weakened and I have my fingers crossed that it lasts.
Sturdy not cheap plastic but the support for the back of reciver did not fit kenwood double din in ford explorer had to re drill peice not huge deal. The main reason of 3 star is that what little of mounting kit you can see is a dull black and most head units are a gloss black and it just does not look right I cant find any better though.
This dash kit is much better than what I have used previously. Before, everytime I took the deck out or put one in, I was worried a piece would break off just because they were made so poorly. This one does the job and seems to be an improvement over past items. The only problem I had with this one is that the support piece that is supposed to go on the back was not tall enough so I was unable to use it with my deck.
