Average Customer Review(s):
Pros: easy install
Made installation of my new head unit go much easier
Pros: Easy to install
Nice kit, however does not fill the space properly on a Subaru BRZ
Works well, nothing fancy but it doesn't need to be. Fills the gaps perfectly in my 4Runner.
Pros: Price and perfect fit
Cons: None really
These pieces look great installed. I did have to do some custom cutting to make them fit.
Pros: Makes the dash look great.
Cons: Requires some cutting.
I have a first generation Scion XB. This was my first time installing a car stereo. All the mounting holes aligned perfectly as well as the fit on the dashboard once completely installed!!!! I did not have problems with gaps or misalignment. Easy to install!!!
Pros: Great product!!
Did not work well for my application, a 2005 Toyota Matrix. Screw mounts were too thick to go through the kit and the bracket to get a purchase on the radio. Tried grinding to make the plastic thinner, kit broke because the plastic was too thin. Ended up using adhesive to put the kit where it needed to be. Look for a different kit.
Pros: Fills in the side spaces.
Necessary parts but seem a little flimsy. They work well once installed. The lower screws are harder to put in because it doesn't sit level on the side of the head unit. Grinding the metal on the mounting bracket maybe useful if you have the time.
Pros: Fills the gaps on the sides of the head unit well.
Cons: Seem flimsy
Worked fine, once I carefully read the instructions. At first I did not realize I had to trim off part of each part before using it.
Needed to modify with a Dremel in order to fit the factory bracket in my '03 Highlander. Even then, it's not quite right even when using the factory screws. Although it fills out the sides, there's still a small gap on the top and bottom when installing a Sony head unit.
Pros: Filled the sides pretty well
Cons: Needed a Dremel to modify Small gaps in top and bottom Would've paid more for a better fitting dash kit.
Super flimsy plastic. Didn't fit my '04 4Runner and left a gap on one side.
Cons:Crutchfield response on 6/14/2017 Ethan, we're sorry you're having issues with your kit. If you want our help, please just reach out to our tech support team. They can either help get the radio installed securely, or possibly return it for an exchange or refund.
Needs work. Got it to fit my car OK (2006 Scion xB), but doesn't really match the vertical curve of the dash opening (this dash kit is vertically straight while the dash curves back). About 1/8 inch difference by the time you get to the top of the radio opening. Once installed, though, you really don't notice the difference (only upon close inspection), so... Better than nothing.
Pros: Fills space to right and left of radio in dash opening
Cons: Vertical curve in dash opening is not matched.
This is the correct install kit for a 2014 Subaru Forester. The Crutchfield site doesn't know that. It also takes a considerable amount of fab to get it to fit around the stock brackets. Much more than the instructions point out. You have to just put it together and work with it. The good news is the plastic is soft enough that you can work with it with a good pair of scissors instead of a Dremel. It is also a little flimsy once it is installed on the head unit & before it is in the dash fitted into the bezel. Be careful as it can bend or break easily. Once it is fully installed it is fine. The dash bezel keeps it nice and snug.
Pros: It fits the dash of a 2014 Forester
Cons: Takes a lot of cutting to make it attach to the head unit. It is a little flimsy until it is fully installed
The brackets fit well after some modifications. The instructions were lacking and could do with some more clarification. Called Crutchfield and they struggled to interpret the manual and explain the process.
The front-facing part of this works _pretty_ well, though it doesn't quite mount flush between the dash and the new deck. The bigger problem was that the pre-formed mount holes didn't fit with the JVC deck I purchased. I ended up only using one hole (would've liked to use at least two), and I had to cut off the bottom hole and cut away some of the bracket to get these to fit the deck. They're in fine now, but it could have been an easier process.
Pros: Simple, possible to modify if needed
Cons: Needed to modify to fit deck Not quite a flush fit in the dash
Does not work as advertised on 2017 Subaru BRZ. However, Crutchfield did update the website (removing the item as fitting my car) after I called.
Made a beautiful fit in our Toyota Rav4. Looks original.
Quality of the part is great. Instructions for it to work with my model car were inaccurate and as a result I damaged one end. I will reorder and modify to work now I know how. The spacer does not fit flush to the head unit. You need to have a spacer to push it flush. This isn't crutchfileds cause just the product and being to many models compatiable.

They don't fit the mounting bracket properly with out grinding in 2 places without grinding they sit on an angle instead of being straight was using on a 2007 Toyota FJ cruiser with a Jensen VX7022 radio
Did the job that I needed to get done. It allowed my Double Din radio to fit in my 2005 Scion XB with no issues.. Works great! No cutting or anything needed..
Pros: Worked at described. Super cheap price.. FREE with radio purchase!!
So be prepared to use a Dremel on these. They do NOT fit until you cut 90% of it off. Once I cut off the part that was in the way of the mounting bracket they ended up looking fine and did the job. Just in case you don't know, these fill the half inch space on the side of your deck.
perfect fit, could not install my Radio on my 2014 Scion Tc with out it.
Pros: fit perfect to fill in the gaps in the left and right side of the dash.
Cons: it don't have any thing to fill the top and bottom gaps.
Perfect fit. Easy to install. It was the correct product. Very happy.
cheap, hardly a custom fit. does not fit the unit well at all.
This piece is to fill in the empty space on each side of the head. The holes where it lined up on my unit were untapped so I had to find and alternate way of securing it.
Pros: Does the job
Cons: Could have come with double sided tape for ease of mounting.
As always a great easy to install product from metro
Pros: Perfect fit
The finishing looks great and is pretty stable and professional looking; however, the screws were a little challenging to install. Over all a good fit and a great finish look.
Very flimsy and weak, even worse after you have to trim it to fit. Would not recommend this if you can fine an alternative.
Pros: fits, after careful trimming
Cons: not strong enough to really survive long. not pre trimmed, cheap weak plastic.
Better than nothing, but the fit and finish of the panels that show is not great (rough edges / slightly different appearance from other side piece). Funny thing is the behind the scenes parts of the kit look like they are machined or molded very well. Maybe I just got a bad set... but it works!
Pros: It works. Fills in the gaps for a professional appearance. Seems like decent quality plastic.
Cons: You have to modify the bracket depending on which car you're installing them in. Fit and finish is not the best.
Makes a big difference with installation appearance. Very professional and easy to install.
Pros: Nice appearance easy to install
Cons: A little flimsy, but it is what is.
No installation instructions, required modification to do the install.
Cons: Required modification and lack of insteuctiinsCrutchfield response on 2/28/2017 Bubba, we're sorry you had problems with your install. Very good product. Looks and fits nice in dash.
Pros: Easy install.
Very good product, does what it was intended to do. Makes the radio look and fit better on th car
Pros: Fitment and function
Awesome finish to the stereo looked professionally installed by me the hacker. Instructions were fine and I figured out how to do it.
Pros: Easy install. Reasonably good instructions. Nice fit for good finish.
Cons: Instructions could be a bit better.
makes head unit look factory! It was necessary to trim some of the mounting bracket away, but easily done. Crutchfield will even send you illustrated instructions of where to trim.
Pros: works as advertised
Fits Great in my 2003 Toyota Celica Dash. Necessary for an install of any double din radio.
They do the job. Not spectacular but sufficient. They fill in the gaps around the edge of the head unit and they look ok. Not entirely factory looking but acceptable.
Pros: They are easy to use and fill the gap around the edge of the head unit. They are cost effective. You can't really install your head unit without them.
Cons: They look a little cheap. Not quite factory.
Cons: instructions a little incomplete
I give this 3 stars only because the bracket holes do not line up properly with the Boss head unit mounting holes and I had to reconfigure them with a dremel tool. Once done it fit very well in my dash module of a Toyota Highlander and looks factory spec. If it wasn't for the alignment problem it would be 5 stars.
Pros: looks good, fits good in dash module
Cons: Holes did not align with Boss head unit mounting holes and had to be reconfigured
Pros: Plugs in with no hassle and already labeled and coloro coded
wasn't needed for my toyota sequoia and the radio that I bought.
Cons: the brackets on the original radio come off and connect to the new radio. Three of the four bolts were needed
Had to cut and trim to make it work, I knew I would have to make a few adjustments but I had to make a lot of adjustments.
Clean, easy installation. Should have had a tiny note to say, put the dash kit OVER the stock factory brackets and re-use factory brackets. However, that took me all of 5 seconds to figure out.
Made the installation, fit and finish complete.
Pros: Makes the Fit look like factory.
It fitted ok, but not axactly line up with the screw holes on the new head unit and it's not align well with the old brackets. It come with 4screws each side. I can only used 3 of the screw on each side. But all in all it's not bad, if you're not really nitpicking. It's got the job done.
Pros: Look good with head unit after finished installation.
Cons: Not align well with new head unit. It's flimsy. It's like$1000 car with $3000 wheels on it.
Used these to install a JVC radio in my 2003 Toyota Tundra. Very easy and made for a great finish.
Fit like a glove on my 06 4Runner, makes the install almost look factory.
I have 2007 Toyota Matrix(Base). The kit had to be cut alot to make it fit. It was a very tight install yet not perfect fit. Your mileage will vary.
Very easy to install and it makes the unit look like it came with the 2004 4runner from the factory..
Pros: Clean stock look
Cons: None it fits great!
Fills in the holes left on both sides of the radio in the Sequoia.
Pros: Matched to my toyota highlander perfect
works just as advertise fit perfectly did the job
It is a great product.
Pros: Everything on the radio Works as I inspected it exept for the USB cable when you connect your phone as I have an iPhone I connected and it doesn't take the link and I don't know how exactly that works but doesn't recognize the link from my phone. Gaps on the side when you finish installing it it's got a couple gaps on the sides and that's kind of annoying and that's the only thing I didn't like from it
Cons: I think that the hardware for the installation needs to be rearranged so that it disappears the gap from the sides on the radio. Thanks.
This was simple to display and made my new double DIN touch screen head unit fit flawlessly inside my 2005 4Runner SR5. Be sure to get the correct kit for your particular 4Runner trim as there are 2 different kits and they are vastly different.
Pros: Fits perfect, Easy to install
Cons: Tricky to select the correct kit for Toyota 4Runner trim.
Not a big fan of the Metra dash kit for this particular vehicle. It was easy to install but the fit and finish wasn't as good as I hoped for. The radio didn't fit flush with the front of the kit. And I followed the instructions provided with the kit. It doesn't look horrible just not flush.
The screws that came with it were too short when attaching with base support plate. I got so fed up with the screws not locking in that I went to a local large hardware store to buy a new set of screws. Then it worked great. Also, it leaves some gap on the side that was a bit too much for my liking.
Cons: Short screws - you may have to get your own like I did to make it work Small visible gap on sides - it's not bad but it annoyed me at first
Needed these to fill in the blank spaces of my Double Din install with my dash. Screws into the head unit and fits in. Being plastic, they are a bit flimsy so be careful screwing them into the head unit and moving them around.
Pros: -Free with Crutchfield purchase -Fits into blank slots on side of Double Din head unit
Cons: -Plastic, can be a bit flimsy. Handle with care. -Not a perfect color match if that bothers you.
Made for multiple vehicles. Read the instructions and simple to use. Made a nice factory looking installation.
Pros: See above.
I was awfully disappointed with this kit. It had to be cut, ground to clear the mount flange and also the surrounding structure. The instruction pictures were particularly useless. With the Pioneer deck I ordered, I had to go find longer screws and grind the length down because the kit took up too much screw length. In the end, it didn't account for the slight offset in the Sequoia radio, and there's still a gap on the far side. I'd rather pay extra for a decent kit.
Pros: It's black
Cons: Poor fit Poor instructions Could not use unit provided screws
The product fits well in my 2003 Toyota Tundra. There is a slight gap but it is so dark behind the radio no one would notice it except me because I installed the equipment. Can't beat the price and good instructions that lead to a clean looking installation. I'm not much for giving 5 star ratings but there really isn't anything to do to improve this product.
Basically worked as designed and looks great. Some manual trimming and needed to use epoxy where one screw did not line up.
Pros: Looks good.
Cons: Needed to cut and glue to make it work
These brackets were provided free by Crutchfield so I can't really complain about them for this installation. It did take me about a half hour to figure out the fit with the stock brackets which required me to cut off the "arms" of both of these brackets in order to get everything to match up correctly. They also impeded one of the bolt holes on each side of the receiver so I couldn't use all four bolts to attach the stock brackets to the new unit. But with three bolts on each side and all four front bolts holding the unit in place I haven't had any issues with the receiver moving around. They also filled in the front gaps nicely on each side of the new receiver to provide a clean look.
Pros: FREE! Provide a clean look to the new, smaller-faced unit
Cons: Needed some trimming to fit with the existing brackets. Slightly covered a bolt hole so I couldn't use all four bolts on each side of the new unit.
to make this work I had to carefully cut the plastic parts down to size
Pros: fits but only after modifcation
Cons: pain to modify
Kit not needed for install on 08 4 runner with Stock radio "not JBL" . The New Kenwood fit perfect using the factory brackets and screws from the factory unit
Know that if you buy this, you'll need to spend 15 minutes reading the instructions on what portion of the dash kit needs to be trimmed off in order for it to fit correctly. Some of the modifications can be made with a hacksaw, but others require a Dremel or similar. The Sony radio I purchased came with screws with around 1/4" of threads, which is barely enough to get one thread in on the factory mounting brackets, and much too short to attach this dash kit. Unfortunately, they use a very non-standard screw (flush mount, blunt end, but with sheet metal threads). I ended up finding some machine screws that worked, but not until after I drove all over the city. Finally found something that ended up working at a local big box hardware store. This dash kit really should come with longer screws - or be flagged in Crutchfield's system to indicate that in certain stereo/car combinations, longer screws are required. It surprises me that the Sony radio came with the super-short screws, since I would imagine that 90% of all stereos require some type of dash kit which is impossible to attach using the default screws. In this case, I'm not sure whether it's the fault of the dash kit or the stereo... I'm blaming the dash kit.
Pros: Fit the dash Holes lined up perfectly Closes the gaps on both sides of the stereo
Cons: Makes it impossible to use the manufacturer-provided mounting screws. Requires hacksawing or Dremeling to install Kind of cheap looking.
Perfectly filled the side of my stereo to the dash. Looks great.
Trimmed and placed over factory brackets, no gaps or flaws.
Pros: Simple, clean, no gaps, fills factory opening perfectly.
The dash kit fills the holes between the dash trim and the new receiver. It doesn't look particularly good. Especially since the left-hand piece doesn't really close the gap very well.
Pros: Right side of the kit fit very well and closes the gap between the radio and the dash trim.
Cons: The left side of the kit does not fill the gap between the dash trim and the radio. It is also loose - the design is such that it can be moved from side to side pretty easily. It also looks a little bit on the cheap side.
Fit perfectly around my Kenwood double din receiver. Fit perfectly in dash and looks great. Easy to install.
Pros: Perfect fit, easy installation
Great Product. Worked Well.
Pros: Good quality
I followed the instructions and was extremely disappointed with the results. They should not include the Matrix with this bracket. It does not fit at all. If you have to do a lot of trimming then the thing doesn't fit. You will end up with something that won't be custom fit and you will have to settle for a small gap on each side. If you are going to get that result then why bother buying it from here. I have bought a radio from Crutchfield in the past and had no problems. It is this model that doesn't fit with the given bracket. Just be prepared to make adjustments if you have a 2005 Matrix.
Pros: It was free
Cons: You have to trim your heart out just to get it to fit. It won't be a custom fit either.
The advised and supplied equipment was exactly what was needed to fill the gaps left over from the head unit being replaced. It looks like it grew there; both natural and professional looking.
Pros: With a simple cut, which is explained in the instructional brochure, the factory brackets do not interfere with the Metra bracket placement.
Cons: Not Metra's fault at all. Depending on your equipment model you may need to have additional hardware on hand. I discovered that both the old and purchased head unit's provided screws and or bolts did not have the length to secure both of the brackets to the new radio.
Great product! Thank you! Just had it installed yesterday!!! Sorry for the delay!
Great kit and it fits in the dash like it should
Pros: Bolts right up to the aftermarket head unit and factory radio brackets.
Cons: You may have to trim the brackets to fit your vehicle radio brackets and the instructions could be a little more clear. It was simplier to just hold the bracked up to the unit and see what to trim.
Fits right into with aftermarket speakers no problem.
They worked perfectly and the fit between the receiver and the sides of the dash are very tight. It was very easy to install onto the device
This make a clean install. They are more than just brackets. They finish the look.
Pros: Clean install
Works ok to fill in the space between the head unit and factory trim panel. However it took a good bit of modification with a Dremmel tool to make it fit around the factory brackets in my 2006 Matrix. The end result is not as tight of fit as I would have liked. Would have scored 3 stars due to the mod effort and final fit but top notch service from Crutchfield pushes it back to a 4.
Pros: It was free with the purchase of the head unit and came with good documentation.
Cons: Takes time and patience to trim, test fit, trim more & test fit again repeatedly until the desired result is achieved. Don't be in a hurry and be forewarned there will still be a small gap on either side big enough to hold a credit card. It's right on the edge of being acceptable vs unacceptable. But after all the work to get there, when I finally reached the last step and snapped in the factory trim panel I saw the gap. I voiced a few choice expletives then decided it was good enough.
It's OK. Fills in the gaps on both sides of the head unit, but sits too far back against the front. Everything fits for complete installation but will end up modifying in the future for more flush look.
Pros: Shape correct, holes lined up correctly.
Cons: Needs modification for a more authentic factory looking install.
The final install of my unit looks fabulous and fits perfectly. I did have to do a bit of minor surgery on the brackets using a knife to just shave a bit of plastic so that the brackets weren't stressed when the screws were installed.
Did the job by filling in the gaps on the sides of the head unit. There is nothing really spectacular about them.
Pros: Did the job
Cons: Cheap quality
Simple to use and it helped the radio to look stock. Perfect.
one cut on each bracket and fit perfectly
Worked perfectly to fill the gaps on the sides of the Clarion double DIN head unit I installed in my wife's Toyota Matrix. It did require some trimming to fit around the factory mounting bracket though it was easy enough to do with nothing more than a sharp utility knife.
Pros: Fills the gaps perfectly. The price was right(free with HU purchase.)
Cons: It did have to be trimmed to fit around the metal mounting brackets
In the end, it worked out and looks very good. However, to install my new Pioneer AVH-X2700BS, I had to modify these brackets. Had to cut off the ears to make it work with the factory mounts. Luckily, they were very inexpensive and easy to cut so although I was expecting a factory fit from the go, a little modification was no big deal. Like I said, the look good with a tight custom look.
Pros: Inexpensive. Final fit good.
Cons: Has to modify.
I used the kit for 2003 Toyota Tundra, to mount Kennwood DVR/GPS. There was same trim w/file to fit on vertical arm and not too mach material left. This is plastic, I prefer sheet metal or aluminium.I have replaced screws w/longer one too.
Cons: A must DIy
No idea why this was "recommended". It looks to me like it's for a half DIN unit with no way to use it on the unit I bought. I threw it away.
Pros: None for my application
Cheap fix for radio. I have a 2005 Toyota Sequoia and these worked great.... Word to wise, don't use faceplate for alpine ine w940- these mounting brackets don't work with it on but seem like they should. Just mount them straight to the radio without sleeve on it and they fit perfectly.
Pros: Cheap, great fit
Cons: None really...
Too much fine cutting detail needed to make it work so I broke it off and only used one screw hole.
Poor directions, cheap appearance and poor fit. Directions did not provide guidance on placement of what are just cheap looking trim pieces. The holes for the mounting screws are too deep for the short screws. I had to drill out the holes so the screws would did deeper into the plastic and be long enough to reach the radio.
Cons: Poor quality, fit and instructions. They were cheap so I guess you get what you pay for. I did unfortunately teach my son some new ways to string cuss words together as we were trying to install his radio.
Worked fine after minor altering
Pros: Looks like oem radio when in place.
Cons: Had to use Dremel to shape.
fitted perfectly, so that radio was part of the truck , when you bought it !!
Pros: great fit
Cons: you need a dremel or alike, to cut back, to fit your harness
Use it on the installation of a JVC unit on a Toyota Rav4. Perfect fit.
Pros: Perfect fit
install made super easy fit perfect ,wiring plug and play would purchase again ....Did not have to cut factory harness or cut dash .
Pros: anyone could have done install and look like a professional job.
Cons: waiting on products
Filled the space perfectly in my 2005 Toyota Four Runner
The side extender brackets were not properly measured to be attached with the radio mounts. The directions do not specify that this model needs them to be dremeled to fit(in fact it was one of the Toyota models not listed)--- but after enough headache and trying to get them to work after following directions countless times that was our last resort.
Pros: It had one job.
Cons: We had to dremel to get it to do that job. Instructions are vague.
Very helpful tool that makes installation much easier and came for free all together with purchase. Good deal!
Not a perfect fit with the factory brackets in my 2005 scion TC but works well enough for factory like appearance
This definitely helped fill the void and fit the double din to the dash shape. However, i had some difficulty getting the dash back on correctly. The two spacers do not hug the radio and had to be wedged to get the dash back on. I had some trouble getting both sides wedged in at the same time. I'd get one side done, and then the other side would pop out. Eventually got them both in place but not after scraping and prying with a small flat head screwdriver.
Had to make modifications to fit.
Pros: looks ok
Cons: didn't fit without modifying
I needed to make modifications to this kit even though it said it wouldn't need any.
Pros: Worked once adjusted, actually looks great
Cons: Difficult to fit
Easy to use and easy to follow instructions!
Pros: Fits as stated!
While side to side is a pretty good fit, a minor gap remains above and below the head unit.
It didnt fit to right had to adjut the harnest to make it fit but in the end it help hife the gap in which it is made for
Easy to connect to unit, but does not fit flush to the open space in a 06 Tundra, have tried countless times and still have gaps all around the stereo.
Pros: Easy to install
Cons: Looks bad, does not fit properly.
This was a perfect fit for my 2007 Toyota Sequoia. I had the standard (non-JBL) stereo and the dash kit fit without any modifications. Looks great!
Got it free with my receiver purchase. Glad I bought it from Crutchfield
Fills in edges / Retains factory Brackets / Looks & Fits Well
Easy to use, fits perfect.
This got the job done but appearance was lacking. To didn't fill in both sides of the factory trim. One side looks correct and the other has a gap. It also doesn't fit flush on one side. Overall it got the job done but one side looks poor.
The radio with this Dash kit makes the Yaris install look like OEM
Pros: It works.
I would have giving this a 5 star but you have to cut part of the bracket off as the instruction describes wasn't hard to do. Covers the gaps perfect on my 05 toyota tundra
Pros: Covers the gaps on my truck
Cons: cut part of the bracket off
I got it for free so I cant complain but this does not fit 2011 Scion tc's unless you cut the back end of it off. Once that is off it fits just fine
Cons: Had to alter in order for it to fit
These brackets worked perfect to install a Pioneer DVD receiver into a 2007 Scion TC, mounting it behind the factory radio fold down cover
Pros: Perfect fit
I get it , it was free... But why they would even waste the plastic to make these is beyond me, junk , flimsy barely useable junk... Invest in a nicer aluminum mount kit you'll be glad you did
Pros: other that free ZERO
Cons: flimsy plastic junk
Had to play a bit wuth them since they did not fit perfect, only one screw aligned with radio receiver
Not even close to fitting properly. Major modification needed.
Cons: Doesn't fit at all.Crutchfield response on 1/19/2015 After looking into the situation, we determined that the kit does indeed work, but the instructions from Metra aren't immediately helpful for a Lexus owner. We've adjusted our database to recommend a different kit that'll make it easier for future customers. And if you haven't already found another solution, give our Tech Support team a call.they'll be reaching out to you, too.
Had to cut it to get it to fit my 2007 Sequoia, worked fine once I did.
Pros: Stupid easy to use
Cons: Had to cut it.
It took me a little while to figure out how to put these on. The instruction did show how to remove the old radio. but didn't show for the Scion xB how to attach them. It show for other cars but not this one. took a little while to figure out but it looks great now. Didn't realize I was suppose to use the brackets from the old radio and attache them to the new one, the instructions didn't say anything about that. once I did figure it out, it went in very easy. I made one mistake in loosing a screw down in the back side of the dash. found another to replace it and everything went back together in a snap.
Pros: Make it look like the radio belong there
Cons: Might want to look at the instruction Manuel and make some changes or add some.
Pros: Simple to use and install
I installed the Alpine INE-W927HD into my wife's '07 Sequoia with the JBL audio package. Her vehicle had the factory installed In-Dash Navigation Unit with Face Code E7006 [OEM 86120-0C160 or 86120-34030]. The mounting hardware on the factory GPS didn't have to be modified in any way to be removed and then placed on the Alpine GPS head unit. The factory mounting brackets fit on the Alpine in the exact location as the factory GPS no matter if it's measured from the top-to-bottom or front-to-back so I was able to mount the new Alpine in the Sequoia without using the Metra 95-8202 Dash Kit that came with my Crutchfield order. This made the Metra 95-8202 Dash Kit unnecessary for my aftermarket head unit installment which is the reason I gave this 5 stars because it doesn't get any easier than that. I know this isn't exactly reviewing the Metra 95-8202 Dash Kit product but I rated this high so that anyone having the same installation with a Sequoia or similar, they don't have to bother with this mounting hardware at all.
Pros: Not needed during my head unit installation process, making the replacement go much quicker.
Cons: Crutchfield could update their database to ensure certain superfluous equipment isn't sent with orders. This confuses the installation process and causes unnecessary modifications to the factory equipment/hardware. The instructions told me to grind the factory mounts' guiding pins so that they could be properly placed on the aftermarket head unit, when I didn't need to since they actually helped guide the mount on the new head unit perfectly.
Simple instructions..came with any hardware needed that couldn't be used from old radio. 2011 Scion TC
This is supposed to fit the FR-S, BR-Z but it doesn't with out modification. You need to dremel away some of the plastic to clear the mounting tabs. Really shouldn't be sold for this car.
Pros: Sort of works after modification
Cons: doesn't fit out of the box
They helped me find the exact product I needed in no time flat!
Pros: Perfect fit
Perfect fit for my JVC KW HDR81BT , straight forward instructions plus illustrations.
Cons: I wish they provided some trim to fill about 1/8'' gap at the top and bottom of Head Unit. Besides that , not bad at all.
Fits nicely, blends with the stock panels
This installation kit worked just as advertised. The fit and finish are good. My only complaint was I had to cut the part down, which I didn't know would be part of the process. The cutting is fairly simple, there are clear guides on the part. However, it made me nervous pretty much ruining the part it it didn't work and fit as advertised.
Pros: Fit and finish are good
Cons: Have to cut the part to fir some cars
These little gems make the installation look totally professional! They are the best final touch to fill the gap left by the old system. A must to properly detail out the installation.
Fits like factory.
I bought this dash kit to install a Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX into my 2013 Subaru BRZ Limited. It's not a drop in piece. You will have to trim some of the plastic in order to get the mounting holes to line up. Other than that, once installed, it looks fine and does what it's supposed to do.
Pros: Fills in the gaps and blends in with the dash.
Cons: Not an exact fit and requires trimming.
saved a bit with this kit, the installer normally charges between $20 to $25 bucks...
a bit too thick. doesn't need to be that thick. due to thickness, i couldn't put all the original screws back in as they were not long enough.
I was looking for the recommended pieces to install the Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX and saw this dash receiver kit so I purchased it. When it came time to install, I ended up having to trim the piece to make it fit so it wasn't 100% direct fitment. Other than the trimming, I have zero issues with the dash kit.
Pros: Finish on front piece is great and didn't throw off the head unit color scheme.
Cons: Not direct fitment, will need to trim piece for Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX.
Follow the instructions and call the great people at Crutchfield if you are stumped. Easy to install with patients. My advice is to get a 20 pack of washers for your mounting bolts to the dash and you can space your deck out and perfectly to match your stock location. A $3 trick to make a pro install.
Pros: Matches most dashes perfectly. Tight spacing to decks. Free with purchase of deck.
Cons: Fits many vehicles, so be patient to get your fit looking factory installed.
Perfect solution for a double din unit.
Pros: Plastic finish matched the receiver seamlessly.
Cons: I only wish I knew about these sooner...
Works as advertised, though I own a 2008 Scion xB and the surrounding dash panel has a outward curve to it, I just wish these spacers would conform to that curve cause they do leave a little but of a gap. but otherwise it looks good.
Pros: fits and the mounting holes work with the radio I bought (Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS)
Cons: wish it conformed to the curves in the dash.
I wasn't sure of the necessity of of this bracket until I put it on and installed the receiver. I had to cut and trim most of it off because it went into my Tundra but it was easy to cut off. When I installed the receiver with this trim kit I realized that this was to make my receiver look nice and almost factory installed. No Gaps or seams.
Pros: Looks nice installed. I didn't have to cover gaps and open spaces with black tape as I have had in past installs.
XA, 2 DIN JVC works well
This kit made my installation looking like it was done professionally. After all the dash pieces are put back in, the new DVD Receiver looked very clean and no hint that it was done by a novice.
Pros: makes a professional-looking installation
perfect fit for the 4 runner
Pretty simple little plastic piece the fills th void between the dash and the stereo. Looks good.
Great product, it fit perfectly on my 03 Tundra with the JVC Double DIN. Had to cut a little to fit with the stereo unit but nothing major.
The thing didn't fit the truck right. It left a big gap you could see through,so I had to glue the thing on to fix the gap problem.
Fit perfectly. Installed with Pioneer avhs5500 Head unit in an 05 4 runner. Price was right. Freebies are the best. Thanks Crutchfield!
Fits perfectly with my pioneer 5500bhs on the 2007 highlander.
Pros: nice trim Works with 2007 highlander with jbl
Had to cut these to fit. Instructions were incorrect and didn't include my 2007 Toyota Highlander. Fit well after this though, just a little confusing.
Pros: Fits well once cut.
Cons: Incomplete instructions.
This did not fit in my fiances 2010 Toyota Yaris. The center console would not fit back over them. I had to remove one from the side of the radio for it to fit so now there is a gap beside the radio.
Cons: Poor fit.Crutchfield response on 10/28/2013 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Did not fit...still have large gaps around JVC receiver.
Basically this was just two filler pieces for the sides of the new double din unit, as Toyotas original radio, was wider than the new unit and these were filler pieces. While they did the job, as intentioned, the pieces didn't match up with any of the holes (in back) in either the new unit or the original brackets, so they essentially are held in place.
Pros: Does the job, basically for what it was made for.
Cons: No common holes in bracket or unit to attach to unit when installed. Realize that with so many variations in units and cars, these might be considered universal in that they fill the space in the sides as intended.
easy to use , looks good.
Pros: good instructions
Some trimming required to facilitate install, but not bad. Once installed, looks factory.
Pros: Makes me look like a pro!
Cons: Some cutting required.
Like all universal in dash install kits, it will still leave a bit of desirable aesthetics. It installs pretty simple. Still some modifications need to be made, depending on the mounting brackets on the vehicle of choice.
Pros: Ease of installation
Cons: Need more vehicle specific mounting kits, as opposed to simple universal mounting kits.
Easy, good looking install. Makes the install look professional.
Pros: GREAT Appearance.
Cons: Had a small issue with the supplied screws not being long enough to go through these spacers, the factory brackets and then into the radio itself. Luckily i had some screws that I could use, just had to hacksaw the ends.
Overall this is a decent unit. The fit behind and around the the dashboard was perfect as was the angle of the head unit, which in this case was a Pioneer FH-X700BT. The seams between the factory trim and this unit was flawless. The color is semi-gloss black which also matches well with most headunits currently available. The reason for four star rating is due to the fitment around the headunit itself. The inside lines of this unit are perfectly straight so you will only achieve a perfect fit with the headunit if it too has perfectly vertical side walls. In the case of the Pioneer FH-X700BT this fit was not perfect because its sides have a slight curve to them. Thus, this unit made contact at the center line of the headunit but gadually opened to a 1/16th gap as you approached the top and bottom. That said it was consistent on both sides and still has a very professional finish. At the end of the day I would recommend this unit.
Pros: Easy to install Color Matches Blends with dashboard perfectly Blends with straight sided headunits perfectly
Cons: Does not blend very well with curved sided headunits
Worked perfect in my 07' Seqouia a quick zip of the roto tool and it was ready to go
Pros: ideal fit Easy modification for fit
Cons: Modification only allows one bolt attachment
Excellent! Made installation of the JVC RW-R500 I bought very easy
Pros: Installation of radio became so simple!
Directions were a little confusing, but after comparing to my new unit was able to figure out. I was a little worried about a small gap on the top of the unit, but it is not noticeable.
Looks good, cover the gaps in a double DIN install. easy install
Pros: easy install
Over all a decent trim kit, tolerances could be improved and make it look a bit better.
Pros: Easy to install requiring very little modification of factory bracket
Pros: Radio looks it came in my Toyota.
Three different sets of directions arrived with the product. Made installation more difficut than necessary
Pros: In the end, relatively easy
Cons: Three sets of directs were all slightly different and the correct course was a little bit of each. Screws provided were not enough to secure the brackets and substitutes had to be used.
Looks good, not great. Does the job of covering the gaps in a double DIN install, but the fit is a little off.
Pros: Free and does the job.
Cons: Instructions were very unclear. Took a lot of trial and error to get the kit to fit over the OEM brackets. Had to trim some of the plastic to get the brackets to lay flat.
Kit supported an acceptable installation of an Alpine INA-W910 Navigation Receiver in a 2006 Toyota Matrix. Requires some adept trimming modifications with the correct Dremel bits for proper fit to the (required) mounting brackets from the OEM radio. If you are not experienced with this finesse work, get some help. Once trimmed properly, installation is a breeze. While the sides of the visible plastic trim pieces are well fitted to the curved outline of the car's bezel, there is a small space visible at the top of the radio once installed that is not perfect, but to the casual eye is not objectionable.
Pros: Good adapter for Matrix with some finesse plastic modifications.
Love how this thing makes my stereo fit nice and clean, like it's supposed to. Fills in the gaps perfectly and looks nice.
Pros: Easy to install Nice thorough instructions Attractiveness of unit as a whole
Instructions are good and a cutting the proper tabs made for a good fit. Color matches car interior.
Pros: Easy installation and correct color.
Initially it was difficult to determine which kit to purchase. The site kept coming up with a kit that I couldn't figure out how it could possibly work. I almost purchased the wrong kit and ultimately my selection was a pure guess.
Pros: Product modification, as stipulated in the instructions, and the Installation was easy to perform
Cons: Provided screws were too short by about 1/32". Was able to get all but one to work, however, I to get a slightly longer one our of my supplies; never throw anything away.
The kit works and does close up large gaps on either side of the radio, however it is less than professional looking.
Pros: Easy to install
Cons: Does not fit well, leaves gaps on the sides and
The kit worked well. Was easily installed on the tuner and fit the hole in the dash.
Pros: nice design matches the texture of the dash perfectly.
Cons: it's a little cheap in design by the way it attaches to the tuner. one side didnt want to stay in place but was still easy to install and fit perfectly. For a free item this is not a big deal at all.
Pros: Just what I needed
Perfect fit! Instructions were easy to follow.
Pros: Perfect fit. Looks like OEM installation!
At 1st I was nervous cutting off the holes that the paper tells me to cut, but I did and was pleased. It took some time to adjust the holes that I needed for them to go into that way my radio would look flush.
Pros: Easy to understand
easy to install, looks as good a factory
Installed in a 2007 Toyota Matrix. The instructions that came with it were not all that helpful, especially the part about taking a grinder to some unspecified part of the factory mounting brackets to get the kit to sit flush. Sure, I have a Dremel and the grinding stone, but cutting away some pieces of the plastic kit pieces seemed a whole lot faster and easier than grinding the metal brackets. In the end I spent a few minutes with a utility knife whittling away little pieces of plastic off on one of the kit's pieces, and had to remove a much larger chunk on the other of the kit's pieces. So it works, it doesn't quite look "factory" but it's not noticeable unless you stare, and it's really the only option for installing a double din unit into a 2007 Matrix, so there you go.
Pros: Pretty much the only option for my car. Looks okay no that it's in
Cons: Had to do a lot of trimming to get it to fit right. Instructions totally not helpful.
Great product help make installation easy and made the stereo look like factory installed.
Pros: great adaptor
For what it is, it is fine. The holes on the brackets didn't match the holes on the stereo unit, so we had to do some McGuyver work to make it happen.
Pros: Closes up the gaps on the side of the unit.
Cons: Holes on brackets did not match the units, ingenuity required to make it work.
WOW. This thing didn't line up with any of the holes on factory brackets in my Toyota Matrix. I had to snap them in half and was just barely able to get one screw on each side to hold these in place. It's like it would have almost lined up but I would have had to use a hacksaw on part of the bracket to make it work. Structurally it's not ideal but at least aesthetically (which is what your going for with a dash kit) it looks decent. The instructions do say you need a dremel. But I don't recall seeing that anywhere on Crutchfield's website.
Pros: surrounds the gap left by an aftermarket double din stereo.
Cons: See Above.
The kit furnished with the JVC KW-NT50hdt fit perfect and looks OEM with my 04 4Runner. Very simple and clean.
Pros: Fits perfect
This kit does not fit a 2006 4runner with JBL. It leaves large gaps on either side.
Not a perfect fit for 2005 Tundra but it did it's job.
Very well might be a better fit with most radio's and vehicles but was not great by any means in my '04 Toyota 4Runner. I think it was the moving faceplate that affected the look of the radio itself because these pieces are at the back of the face and don't come flush. The pieces also didn't come flush with the original trim around the head unit either, the pieces stuck out about 3/8" from the back of the trim so it looked odd not being flush with the base or outer trim around the head unit.
Pros: Simple and quick installation.
Cons: Too universal for more specific applications.
Worked very well for my 2002 Celica
This kit works well to finish off the opening left by the factory radio. I had to cut off part of the brackets to make them fit on the "rack", but they work very well.
Pros: Gets the job done!
It fit perfect and looked very clean and a factory look.
Pros: made install look professional
Worked good for me... video of the install attached.
The two side pieces left about a half millimeter of gap at the top and bottom of the dash. It's not a full surround kit so that was probably a given. However there's some small gap to the left and right. Not much it's very minor. But that's probably due to the trim plastics because it's not a snug fit so I'll have to work it again until it sits right. So only 4 stars because I have to keep working at it to get it to sit just right.
Elegant and easy to use. Works as advertised and the instructions are easy to follow.
These trim pieces look great once they are installed. They are universal fit supposedly but I had to oval out holes and cut away plastic so I could have a nice fit. Not that big of deal but it did take some time. Once everything was cut & fitted it looks great.
They send me the exact cables that I needed with the whole kit it was great thanks again
No problem what soever installing using kit. Thanks for including it with the unit purchase. Great deal.
('04 Scion xB - Calrion DD Receiver) For the use, its good. It fills in the gaps left by a smaller DD radio (on the sides). They are not as appealing as they probably could be but it is what it is. Easy to install and once again, does its job.
Worked great in my 2005 Scion xB, with a Clarion radio.
Install Kit was good, some shaving of the plastic was required to get the flanges to fit flush. I wish the radio did not stick out of the dash as much as it does, but otherwise it was a fairly simple installaiton.
Installed in 2005 Matrix, had to slightly modify brackets to fit trim ring properly with dremel tool. Fits dash nicely with no gaps.
I was pleasantly surprised in how good this kit fits and makes my radio look stock
This kit made for seamless fit on the Toyota Celica. Only issue is removing the locating pins on the original bracket so that it will all fit together.
Not much to say other than it worked fine with the Pioneer DVD/Radio I also bought from CF. Had to notch the back of the bracket a little, but nothing had to be done to the cosmetic part of the bracket. It doesn't look perfect but doesn't look bad at all; there is no way you could make one bracket that would look perfect with every radio out there.
Used it for a clarion cx400 on an 04 tundra and it works perfect. Material is a little flimsy but it does exactly the job it needs to.
Not a bad product considering it's pretty cheap. Does require some cutting. Looked fine once everything was all put together and in the dash. I do believe there are better products out there but this'll work just fine.
The screws supplied with the Sony unit don't work when used in combination with the Factory bracket and Toyota mounting kit; they're too short by a couple of threads, Longer hardware should be supplied when using the mounting kit and factory brackets together. The (pardon the expression) plastic surgery needed to make the brackets work with my Highland was easily done with a utility knife.
Instructions did not call for any modification to the mounts, but they would not fit properly until I used both a Dremel tool and a utility knife to trim it down to allow for a flush fit. Normally the Cruthfield kits work as advertised, but this time I had to spend some time to make it fit right.
It worked great in my Tundra 2006. I had to dremel part of it off (but the directions said to do this).
Very easy and clean install for the Scion xB and Pioneer Avic-900bt.
Fit pretty good in my wife's Highlander. Holes lined up pretty well on her AVIC-F700BT. Held unit solid.
Fits pretty good in my Scion Tc. I didn't have to trim it at all. I did have to drill some new holes on the mounting bracket so the radio would sit back far enuff where my door would close. It does fill in the sides nicely for a clean look.
I had to take extra care in trimming this Receiver Kit. The instructions were not very accurate. However, when I took my time with it, and trimmed carefully, it worked great and really made my receiver look "factory."
The mount for my Toyota Highlander required a little extra work and a lot of patients. The instructions aren't entirely accurate and trimming is required. After I inverted the brackets from the way it was shown in the manual, and trimmed them as well, they still didn't sit well in the vehicle. I ended up bending my factory metal brackets to tilt-up the Pioneer so it split the gap (top/bottom). I would consider this one of the worst aftermarket mounts among those I've used and it is by no means designed specifically for the Highlander.
I used with with a 2001 RAV4 and a Kenwood DPX-503. It fits perfectly and looks really great.
Very easy to install, filled in the sides perfectly!
Very easy to install and looks great.
When installing this kit into my 2006 Scion Tc, I ran into some problems. The original installation instructions really don't work well with my vehicle. A double-din stereo will mount, but your cover won't close and you'll have issues with a large (3/4 inch) gap above your deck. Thankfully, I was getting component speakers installed and a professional was able to get the kit to work with about an hour's extra work. Basically, it'll work, but it's not exactly easy.
