Worst Metra kit I've ever encountered.

By far, the worst Metra product I have installed. The fit is good on the double DIN portion for the head unit, but the lower HVAC section simply doesn't fit well. The molded dash kit body protrudes out from the bottom of the center console, making for a very non-factory appearance. The screw holes in the bottom of the kit don't align with any factory holes (nor even close enough for government work) to secure it, so it sits proud of the HVAC controls by a good 3/8", and is flimsy when touched (this flimsy quality would certainly be greatly reduced if the screw holes could be utilized). This simply gets two stars because you need something to get a touchscreen head unit into this car, and the upper portion of it looks decent around the head unit. But the lower half of the kit is just awful. Not sure how this one made it past R&D to the molds.

Pros: Gets a double DIN touchscreen into your BMW.

Cons: Fits poorly (especially lower half), has a very unfinished appearance in the car due to gap between kit and center console.

Not fit for duty!

I'm sorry to say this product was the only thing wrong with my whole upgrade/install. I ordered this unit for my '09 BMW 3 series coupe, and it doesn't fit correctly. The bottom has two screw holes, but nowhere to even line them up and utilize them. The4y are just left in eyesight for nothing. The top of the mold has 2 pins to sort of pop in place, but when I secure the top, the bottom pops out and becomes flimsy. I'm not sure what I will do, but Metra is on the hook for this one. My installer has done thousands of Metra kits, and mine (of course) was the biggest pain.

Product does not fit the 2011 328xi dash flush and bottoms corners protrude. Install looks ok but dash is open not seem less and although done professional lacks showroom or competition quality.

The Good: The finish on the plastics is good The top of the product fits nicely The Bad: The bottom is nowhere near correct. It goes straight down as your dash curves inward leaving a big part to jut out. The screws don't align with previous holes and do not fix the alignment issues Looks terrible at the bottom. Like for the wrong car.

Cons:

terrible fit

I ordered this for my 2007 BMW 328i wagon to install a double din Kenwood receiver. I never test fit it, i just assumed it would fit, as I've never had an issue with any dash kit. Get everything in place, go to snap this on to finish my install, and it doesn't fit. Not even close. Tried modifying it, tried modifying my climate controls, tried modifying the dash, no chance. I called Crutchfield, and it is the "correct" part, but it's not the correct part. No remedy either. Do not buy this.

Pros: NONE

Cons: Doesn't fit. It's like trying to fit a round peg in a triangular hole.

Well the top of receiver kit is good however, the bottom is poorly designed. Instead of curving back as you get lower, the whole kit is straight which does not align with a 2008 BMW 3 series as the panels actually curve back as you get closer to the ashtray. Hence the bottom sticks out a bit and there is no way of fixing it unless you are willing to drill into your dash.
