Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Why are the holes so unnecessarily large? I can't image any speaker needing screws large enough to justify this. Had to scrounge around for washers in my parts bin. Did function for my application but added extra time to the install.

Pros: Functional.

Cons: Extra large holes for no reason.

Universal backstrap -- you can get it elsewhere if you even need it

Dustin from Avon, IN on 10/16/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these based on recommendation from my advisor, but ended up not using them. If you need them, having them conveniently packaged with your order is great, but this is basically plumbing hanger tape that can be purchased in much larger quantity for a much cheaper price from your local hardware store if you end up needing it. I'm not sure I'd recommend these for those reasons (easily obtained elsewhere for cheaper, in the event you need it).

Pros: Convenient when packaged in with your order. Strong strapping.

Cons: Easily obtainable elsewhere (any big box hardware store) for much cheaper, if you even need it.

Cons:

Excellent add on for tweeter placement

Smitty from Oak Park, CA on 6/30/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My Crutchfield rep advised me to purchase the back straps when installing new tweeters in the dash of my Jeep. Boy was I happy she did! Using the backstrap made placement of the tweeters easy. The space inside the dash does not have a lot to offer in terms of mounting the tweeters. Just a couple of bends in the strap, and cutting to size with a pair of pliers, and I had a custom mount that fit perfectly.

Pros: easy to use, inexpensive, time saver

Cons: none

Universal Back Strap

Written by Laura, Advisor, on 11/4/2016 10:15:00 AM
This piece was vital to installing the tweeters in my S10! It was necessary to cut holes in my door and the brackets that came with the tweeters wouldn't do the trick. However, this was no problem with these back straps. We were able to bend the back strap to fit the tweeter. Then with some screws, we secured my tweeters onto my door tightly enough that there was no danger of them coming loose and they were not compromised in any way. Pretty neat and not too complicated.

Neccessary

Written by Tara, Sales Advisor, on 11/4/2016 9:43:00 AM
This handy little add-on ended up making the installation of my tweeters a breeze. And I do not use that term lightly as I do not find any work with tools to be particularly "easy". I've definitely added these to my "necessary" list.

The Grand Cherokee has a really odd sized "tweeter" (it's actually a midrange speaker), so I've read in numerous forums that you can bump up the "tweeter" to a 3.5" midrange... so I figured I'd need something to mod the factory mount. [ Kristian S.  Jan 17, 2016 ]

2 questions already asked

6 -7 inch almost always cut them in installs [ michael jonas  Jan 02, 2016 ]
Pretty long. I used all mine, but I'm guessing they're around 7in. I had to cut all of mine when using them for installing tweeters. [ Jestep  Nov 06, 2015 ]
depends if the speaker is a free air speaker or if it has requirements for enclosure space. most tweeters don't require a specific enclosure volume. also, the high frequencies produced by tweeters shouldn't shake much, if you hear or see rattling in you specific case simply put a rubber washer in between [ michael jonas  Jan 02, 2016 ]
John M. The empty space doesn't need filling; however if you are driving on roads that are rougher than normal(off road) or driving a tractor trailer I would suggest using some rubber bushings between the washers and the strap, and the washers and the mounts for the tweeter. Hope this helps [ ROBERT W  Jul 02, 2015 ]
