Metra ethereal CS-IRKIT
Infrared repeater system with four dual-output IR emitters
Our take on the Metra ethereal CS-IRKIT by Crutchfield's Kramer Crane
Control all of your A/V gear, even in an enclosed cabinet
The Metra ethereal CS-IRKIT infrared repeater kit gives you easy remote control of your home theater receiver and other A/V gear placed in an enclosed cabinet, where your regular IR remote's signals can't reach. It includes four dual-emitter IR blasters that give you control of up to eight components.
Simple, intuitive setup and operation
The included IR sensor gets mounted on your TV's bezel or stand within line of sight of your remotes. The sensor receives remote commands and relays them back to an IR hub hidden away inside the cabinet.
The hub in turn sends the commands to each of the four dual-output infrared emitters, which you place in front of your components. Use any of your existing remote controls or a universal one to control your equipment.

IR Repeater System: The CS-IRKIT IR Repeater System allows you to use an existing infrared (IR) remote control to operate up to 8 audio/video components located behind closed doors or walls in an entertainment cabinet or equipment closet. The CS-IRKIT IR Repeater System consists of a hide-away repeater box, one 56" IR receiver, four 10' dual IR emitters, and a AC power adapter.
IR (Infrared) Replication: The CS-IRKIT IR Repeater System effectively replicates infrared signals (34-60kHz frequency range) from remote controls to reach up to 8 components that are stored remotely or hidden in enclosed cabinets, using the four included dual IR emitters (or up to 12 components with two additional dual IR emitters, sold separately).
- This unit can be installed in area with compact fluorescent lighting and work in most lightning environments.
- Plasma TVs emit IR frequencies during use and may cause interference.
Hide-Away IR Repeater Box: The included hide-away IR repeater box features three IR receiver inputs and six IR emitter outputs. The IR receiver input & emitter outputs consist of 3.5mm minijack terminals. As the hub of the IR repeater system, it receives signals from the remotely located infrared receiver and channels them to the remotely located IR emitters and your components. The hide-away IR repeater box can be mounted in a discreet location on top of furniture or next to a TV to replicate infrared signals from your IR remote controls.
Note: The hide-away IR repeater box measures 4.3125" (w) x 1.0625" (h) x 4.5625" (d).
IR Receiver: The CS-IRKIT IR Repeater System includes one IR receiver which features an attached 56" cable that is terminated by a male 3.5mm connector that plugs into the hide-away IR repeater box. The "eye" of the IR receiver is located in the tip of the IR receiver and should be facing the area from which you will be using your remote controls. Peel back the tape on the bottom of the IR receiver to stick to a clean, flat surface. Since the repeater box has three IR receiver inputs, you can add two additional IR receivers (120CSIRRX, sold separately).
Note: The IR receiver measures 0.6875" (w) x 0.25" (h) x 1.25" (d).
Four Dual IR Emitters: The CS-IRKIT IR Repeater System comes with four dual IR emitters which feature an attached 10' cable terminated by a male 3.5mm connector that plugs into the hid-away IR repeater box. The dual IR emitters should be attached directly over your components' IR receptors using the integrated peel-&-stick tape. If you prefer, you can attach the dual IR emitters to a shelf so that it is facing the components' IR eyes and within 7" of the eye. Since the repeater box has six IR emitter outputs, you can add two additional IR emitters (120CSIRTX1 or 120CSIRTX2, sold separately).
Note: The dual IR emitters measure 0.3125" (w) x 0.25" (h) x 0.5625" (d).
Power Requirements: The hide-away IR repeater box operates off of standard household current using the supplied AC power adapter with 44" DC cord.
- Input: 100-240V~50/60Hz, 0.25A
- Output: 12VDC, 1000mA

1 question already asked
1 answer My tv is on my front wall and the media componentry is 35 feet from the tv opposite of the tv wall. It appears that I will need to use 35 ft 3.5 mm extension cords to connect the ir emitter to the brain box. Will this unit work with a male to female 3.5 extension cord? [ Jonathan Jan 04, 2018 ]
This cable would certainly work in regards to be being a stereo style plug just like the Metra ethereal's sensor connectors. The Metra Ethereal will control devices up to 10 meters (32') away without interference. The 25' distance may work just fine but there still could be a risk of a weak command signal just from that extra 3' of cable. [ michael Jan 06, 2018 ]
