Good fuse holder

Jrod from Phoenix, AZ on 4/9/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It's a good fuse holder. It looks nice, and it's huge. Which it needs to be to hold big fuses. Mines a 200amp. The only bad thing was my power wire is a bit bigger than specs. So it was hard to fit. And the way it holds the wire is a pain. Mostly since my wire is huge, but it does work well once you get it in.

Pros: Holds wires very secure. Looks nice

Cons: Wish it had it screw terminal to hold the wire instead of the cap type system it uses.

Nice Fuse Holder

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this for a planned later upgrade. Its a nice looking unit. A little on the Large size. I may return and get a MANL style holder.

Pros: Water resistant case

Cons: A Bit large in length. May have a problem mounting in my Elantra Coupe.

Good fuse holder

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This thing is huge. I bought this because in the description it stated it worked with 4 gauge wire but it only works with 0/1 wire. Crutchfield was great and returned my money.

Pros: Seems like good build quality

Cons: Description is wrong about wire size.

Why did you buy this?

This fuse holder will fit my 1/0 gauge wire I plan on installing in the next couple of weeks. I believe my old fuse holder was rated for 4 gauge, so I needed an upgrade. This should work nicely :) [ Dalton  Mar 03, 2017 ]
An in-line fuse is critical to protect your system. It should be placed as near the battery as possible to protect your power lead against shorts. [ Danen  Aug 14, 2016 ]

It was the right price. [ Serge  Jun 27, 2016 ]

Its been a while since I installed mine, but I believe the set screw will tighten down far enough to clamp a 4 Ga. wire. I always tin my cable ends with solder before inserting them into the fuse holder. This keeps the cable firm and in a somewhat cylinder shape so it doesn't just flatten out when you tighten the set screw. Another option would be to purchase 4 Ga. ferrules. They are basically metal sleeves that slip over the stripped end of your cable. They will keep the individual strands of your cable together when you clamp the set screw down. You'll need to tighten the screw enough to crimp the ferrule on the cable end so it will hold. You could also crimp the ferrule on to the cable end with a ferrule crimp tool, if you have one, before you insert the cable/ferrule into the fuse holder, or solder the cable into the ferrule. if you solder the cable solidly into the ferrule, it won't deform when you tighten the set screw. It looks a little cleaner if you are that detail oriented. Note that soldering 4 Ga. and larger wires is best done with a roll of flux core solder and a propane torch. An electric pencil type soldering iron is going to have a lot of difficulty heating that much material. [ Danen  Nov 15, 2016 ]
Gotta buy a fuse holder that holds 4 gauge wire. I can't even find a fuse that fits in this holder [ Dena  Nov 14, 2016 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: We do not have an assembly video available. We have a typical 2-amp wiring diagram that may help listed here: http://www.crutchfield.com/learn/learningcenter/car/amplifiers_wiring.html?search=amp_wiring If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
