Overview

Our take on the Axxess XSVI-5524-NAV Wiring Interface

The Axxess XSVI-5524-NAV interface lets you connect your new high-powered car stereo to the factory wiring plug in your 2011 or later Ford vehicle. This adapter provides you the electrical, ground, and speaker connections you need, including a 12-volt accessory power lead for your new stereo. It also retains the Retained Accessory Power (RAP) and offers the reverse, parking brake, and Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) outputs needed for installing a new navigation receiver.

The XSVI-5524-NAV interface also includes a pre-wired harness for the Axxess ASWC-1 interface (sold separately), in case you'd like to integrate your factory steering wheel audio controls with your new car stereo.

Please enter your vehicle information or call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if this adapter is compatible with your vehicle. Warranty: 1 year.

Important Installation Note: The Axxess XSVI-5524-NAV interface will not retain the THX and SONY amplified system available in some Ford vehicles, nor will it retain the factory SYNC system.

Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts — please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so. You can also call an Advisor for more information.

It works. As advertised.

Didn't work for me. Not worth the money.

Crutchfield response on 9/18/2017 Once we saw this review, our Tech Support team reached out to Doyle to help him further. We'll either help him get the interface working the way it should, or help him return it for an exchange or refund. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.

Is definitely a harness, definitely retains RAP. YMMV beyond that.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I went with one of these after finding an ADBOX useless for my setup for a 2014 Fiesta with Sync, without MFT. This is marginally better. It's no longer flashing weird things on my display like the ADBOX was, but, according to AXXESS support reverse signal isn't supported for manual transmissions (????) and I should just give up on the prewired ASWC-1 harness ever working. Email support (with AXXESS, not Crutchfield) literally suggested bypassing this harness and connecting the ASWC-1 at the resistive signal source to get steering wheel control working. I got a plug-n-play harness to specifically avoid that!! If you want RAP and an audio harness hookup and don't want to use SYNC, this does that. Beyond that, good luck. Go with literally any other solution if your vehicle supports it. This is a bad one.

Pros: Harness worked the first time. RAP always works.

Cons: Reverse signal does not work with manual transmission vehicles. Instructions are vague to the point of meaninglessness. ASWC-1 connection doesn't work at all for me.

Functioned as advertised, wiring was easy, all the colors matched. Directions lacked detail around the function of the little black box and what to do with it. Crutchfield tech was great had me pointed in right direction in less than a minute, really knew his stuff!

Pros: Easy to wire Functioned correctly

Cons: Directions could use more detail

This harness worked flawlessly converting my 2012 Focus stock stereo to an aftermarket. I do wish that they would just include the wiring for the steering wheel controls but I understand that businesses need to make money.

Pros: Instructions were clear, installation went seamlessly

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this harness kit for my focus in order to install my new stereo system. This harness works and is very helpful keeping things in order. My friend and I had some trouble making connections when it came to hooking up a steering wheel control harness but we called tech support at crutchfield and they helped out a lot. Wiring harness works good now!

Pros: Organized harness. Works great.

Cons: Instructions were kind of difficult

Features

Vehicle Compatibility: The Axxess XSVI-5524-NAV replacement radio interface allows you to install an aftermarket radio in select 2011-up Ford vehicles. The XSVI-5524-NAV interface is designed to be used in vehicles without a factory amplified sound system or when replacing the entire factory amplifier system. The XSVI-5524-NAV does not retain the factory THX/Sony amplified sound system or Ford Sync.

12V/10A Accessory Output:  In these vehicles, there is no 12-volt accessory wire in the factory harness, which requires the installer to run an accessory wire to the fuse box or underneath the steering column when installing an aftermarket radio. The XSVI-5524-NAV is designed to provide a 12-volt/10-amp switched accessory output (red wire), along with an illumination wire (orange/white wire).

Retained Accessory Power (R.A.P.): The Retained Accessory Power (R.A.P.) function supplies power to the radio after the ignition is shut off until one of the front doors are opened. This function is retained by the XSVI-5524-NAV interface.

Navigation Ready: The XSVI-5524-NAV provides essential wires required for aftermarket radios that have navigation. VSS (Vehicle Speed Sense), Reverse, and Parking Brake wires are provided. This helps to cut down the installation time, since the installer does not have to look for these wires in the vehicle.

Optional Steering Wheel Control Interface: The included wiring harness features a right-angle 3.5mm connector that lets you keep your vehicle's OEM steering wheel controls via the optional Axxess Steering Wheel Control Interface (120ASWC1, sold separately).

Color Codes: Wiring up the XSVI-5524-NAV is like wiring up any other wire harness that would attach to an aftermarket radio's harness. The Metra/EIA wire codes can be found in the Installation Instructions that will aid you in the wiring of your aftermarket radio. The XSVI-5524-NAV interface contains the following wire leads.

With this harness specifically, Ford SYNC is not retained at all. Depending on the specific year, model and trim package of your Ford vehicle, we may have other options for retaining the SYNC system and other factory options as well. If you do not want to call, you can chat online with one of our advisors to see what's available: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Chat.aspx You can also use the "Outfit My Car" application on our website here: http://www.crutchfield.com/car/carselector.aspx?lp=%2fCar%2foutfitmycar%2fcar.aspx With your vehicle information entered onto the website, you can see all of the models we recommend to fit your application. When you add a selected stereo to your online shopping cart, you will be prompted to select a "Package Code" of installation accessories for your vehicle. Each package code will have a checklist of factory features that will be retained or lost when you select that specific package. I hope that helps!
