Give your vehicle the necessary juice to perform at its best. If you've got a boat or an RV, XS Power's got a solution for your electric needs, too.

AGM technology

XS Power deep cycle batteries feature a sealed absorbed glass mat (AGM) design that incorporates special glass fiber mats that contain the acid electrolyte between the lead plates, rather than a standard flooded (liquid) design. This leak-proof, non-hazardous configuration typically lasts longer than normal replacement batteries if properly charged. These batteries actually store energy, so you don't have to add a capacitor to your system to get a quick burst when you need it.

Compact size, leak-proof design

Their compact size lets you get creative with your installation. Since there are no external vents on an XS Power battery, you can mount it in a passenger compartment, below a seat, or inside a glove box without fear of leaks. No leaks mean no corrosion or damage to chrome or paint, and XS Power guarantees their batteries will not leak, even if damaged. These batteries also resist extreme vibrations so they'll perform in the trunk or hatch area without skipping a beat.

Don't let the small size fool you — the cranking power of an XS Power battery can be two to three times the power of a flooded battery of equal size.

XS Power D1200

The XS Power D1200 deep cycle 12-volt battery provides up to 2,600 maximum amps and has a capacity of 44 amp-hours. You'll need a protective case if you're installing this battery in your engine compartment. Check "Accessories" for other items that'll help you install and secure your new battery.

Almost Perfect

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Unfortunately, I can't give this a 5 star due to the physical design of the battery. The terminals are recessed on the corners, which I got the 586 tall posts as is recommended, but my terminals still barely fit. I think I will get the iBars and hopefully they will fit better. I don't see one on XS website that has the right configuration for me. I wish they just made this a flat top battery... The battery is a lot smaller than the stock WRX battery, so I used a 1" Starboard base and mounted L-brackets with the XS battery case. I used a COBB battery tie down with the stock hooks. I have a 900 Watts RMS system running at half power, so I can't really tell if the battery is better than my old one.

Pros: Looks great. Seems to perform well and it uses good materials.

Cons: They need to redesign the top.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed a new battery but didn't want a stock one. I did some research first before buying one. I'm glad I bought this battery for my car and small system I have installed. It brings my music to a hole new level that I never experienced before. I never believed review's about how much better is getting a xs power or any other stereo system battery till I bought one. I'll definitely buy another when needed. I use it as my starter battery which is also powering a PBR300x2 and a PBR300x4. I only have one issue that is the accessories didn't cost a lot. I needed something to hold it down better cause this battery is smaller then my stock. I had to build a box for it.

Pros: Clearer highs and lows at lower volume compared to my stock battery, better sound quality overall.

Cons: None but accessories cost to much to secure battery.

Step One of the "Big Three"

This battery is a must have if you are planning on adding amplifiers. Search for the big three on this site and proceed accordingly.

Pros: Nice clean look. Tons of power for a small space.

Cons: Needed to buy terminals for install in a Subaru.

Hands-on research

Product Research

Overview: The XS Power D1200 is a 12-volt battery that is designed to be used as a supplemental power source in your vehicle, or it can replace your vehicle's OEM battery. It can supply the power needed to run your high-powered audio system, better than a standard battery.

Terminals Needed: This D-series battery does not come with battery terminals, so you will need to purchase the proper terminal adapters for your application before installation can take place:

  • Car Stereo Installation: You will need terminal adapters that fit the inner diameter of your power ring terminals. Recommended terminal adapters include: Two 5/16" brass stud adapters (#589), Two 3/8" brass stud adapters (#590), Two 5/16" + Two 3/8" brass stud adapters (#588), or Two 3/8" zinc-plated steel stud adapters (#587). For dual-battery installations, a second battery install kit, such as the XS Power AK3000, can be used to connect the D1200 in parallel (+ to + and - to -) with the main battery.
  • OEM Battery Replacement: If you are installing the battery under the hood or replacing your vehicle's OEM battery, you will need either the Short Brass Post Adapters (#580) or the Long Brass Post Adapters (#586) to connect your battery cables. You will also need the MC-D1200 metal protective case. The 1200 Billet Aluminum Hold Down (#545) can also be used to install the battery under the hood.

Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM): XS Power's AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries use a fibrous material to suspend the liquid electrolyte against the lead plates. Because the electrolyte is absorbed in the material, there is little chance of an acid leak, even in the event the case is ruptured. AGM batteries contain more lead compared to traditional "flooded" batteries, thus producing more power.

Charging the Battery: It is very important to properly charge an Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery before using. Improper charging can permanently damage the battery, and will void the warranty. The XS Power HF IntelliCharger for AGM Batteries (sold separately) has a microprocessor that monitors the charging process to avoid overcharging, and is recommended for this battery.

Specifications: The D1200 has the following specifications:

  • MAX Amps: 2600 amps
  • Cranking Amps (at 32°F): 725 amps
  • Reserve Capacity: 80 minutes
  • Discharge Capacity: 44 Ah (amp hours)
  • Dimensions: Length=7.8", Height=6.69", Width=6.54"
  • Weight: 33.26 pounds

XS Power only recommends using their HF1215 charger which is specifically designed for charging their batteries properly and protects against overcharging: I hope that helps! My Bio: [ Ryan  Aug 24, 2016 ]  Staff
tough to answer, the main reason I installed this battery is that it was the only one that fit in my engine compartment. I also have a HU alternator and a 10 farad capacitor in the system. I am powering 2 JL amps. A 750 mono & a 300X4 4 channel. For your application, it would depend on the make, quality & type of amp. A and A/B are analog amps, they sound good, but suck power like a starving vampire. Digital amps are extremely more efficient with power, I would go to the biggest battery you can afford and will fit in your trunk, Stick with XS Power, they perform great and are made by John Deere. REMEMBER1 There is no such thing as TO MUCH POWER! hit me up if u have any other questions [ john  Apr 18, 2015 ]
The battery did not fit well in the factory location. So I sent it back. I 'm using the factory battery which is working out ok. I just can't play the radio to long without the engine running. [ MARK B  Apr 07, 2015 ]
yes it can handle up to 2600 watts/amps so it will easily power 1200 watts since it maxis out at 2600 watts/ amps should use 1/0 gauge wire to hook up two batteries. [ ANDREW  Apr 05, 2015 ]
