Like a lot of people, I expect a lot more from my car stereo than just listening to the radio or checking out a CD. I want it to integrate smoothly into my connected lifestyle, offering quick and easy access to my podcasts, streaming music, phone calls, and more. If that's what you're looking for too, check out what Pioneer's AVH-1330NEX DVD receiver offers.
CarPlay offers up an easy-to-use interface when your iPhone is connected.
I've seen a lot of receivers that promise smartphone compatibility, but Pioneer car stereos consistently deliver a seamless experience. You can plug your iPhone® into this receiver and take charge of a variety of apps for navigation, music, and more from a pair of very cool interfaces. Best of all, you don't have to pick one — Pioneer's made it easy to switch quickly between the two.
Apple CarPlay — CarPlay is an iOS user's dream. Plug in your iPhone and you'll access a friendly iOS styled interface that lets you quickly jump into your music, podcasts, messages, streaming music and more. CarPlay's a no-brainer for me — it's simply a much safer and simpler way to use your phone in the car.
AppRadio Mode+ — Pioneer's AppRadio Mode+ provides additional flexibility when your iPhone is attached, letting you tap into apps like Waze for navigation, and providing easy access to some video content through AppRadioLIVE.
The AVH-1330NEX boasts a bright and crystal-clear VGA display with plenty of display customization options built in. You can set your home screen to display your favorite sources, and then switch between them with just a single touch, letting you pay more attention to the road, and less to operating your stereo.
If you're like me and use streaming services a lot, you'll appreciate how you can control your Pandora and Spotify accounts from the receiver. Just connect your iPhone via USB or Bluetooth, or pair up your Android™ with Bluetooth and you're all set. You can even create new Pandora stations on the fly just by pressing a button.
The AVH-1330NEX is ready to roll with hands-free calling with your compatible phone, plus the ability to wirelessly stream and control music from up to five different phones. Plus, with your compatible iPhone, you can take advantage of Siri Eyes Free functionality, using your voice to place calls, select music, hear notifications, add reminders — even compose and listen to text messages.
If you're on the road all the time, you should consider tapping into the variety of satellite radio with an optional SiriusXM tuner. Or if you prefer checking out local radio, the built-in HD Radio™ tuner offers outstanding sound quality from participating stations.
The receiver's LCD screen plays DVDs and other video content in bright, clear detail when you're parked. You can keep your passengers entertained by sending video from the receiver to a rear-seat screen — that sure helps to minimize wars in the back seat. You'll be able to view video content from your iPod or IPhone with the addition of optional cables. And you can play it safe when you throw it into reverse by plugging in a rear-view camera.
This Pioneer offers compatibility you won't find in many other aftermarket radios, thanks to the iDatalink Maestro module (not included). The module lets you keep factory features in your Chrysler, Ford, GM, Honda, Toyota, Fiat, or VW vehicle that you'd otherwise lose when you install a new radio. You'll also be able to check out expanded functionality on the Pioneer's screen, including gauges, climate controls, a distance sensor, and tire pressure and temperature monitors.
If you currently use AppRadio Mode, Pioneer has found that it won't work with iOS 11. They're working on an update, so you may want to keep iOS 10 until that fix is available.
In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.
Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

Working great! Love it!
Love this unit with the Apple Car Play. Very intuitive and sounds great. I installed it with a backup camera and steering wheel controls interface. Everything worked perfectly!
This is an amazing stereo. I love the features. CarPlay is awesome! The color choices for the menu buttons is nice touch. I matched it to the color of my other dash buttons and now it looks like the stereo was installed at the factory. Back up cam is sweet! HD Radio is crystal clear. The installation instructions were spot-on.
Pros: customization is great. HD Radio is crystal clear.
Cons: none. love this thing.
This receiver was recommended over another one. So far I love it.
Overall, first impressions, the radio is very nice and looks great. I did do the installation myself, using the prewired harness from Crutchfield. Unless you are very brave, I would recommend that. I also used the Maestro device to preserve steering wheel controls. While I ultimately got this working, it was a struggle. There are a few connections that have to be made in addition to the prewired harness (data cable, Speaker and unfortunately microphone). I had hoped that the radio would integrate with the OnStar built in microphone. This is not the case. Also, external speaker for turn signals and chimes is clumsy. Again, would have hoped it integrated with the factory speakers. Another disappointment is that CarPlay is only integrated through USB. Would have preferred Bluetooth. So, several early disappointments. But still a very nice upgrade to my 10 year old car. Gives a little more life,
Pros: Nice visual improvement to the dash.
Cons: Clumsy OEM integration. No Bluetooth option for CarPlay (USB Only).
Really like the unit so far. Loving CarPlay features and just wishing for a way to add Google Maps to app choices, then life would be perfect!
Pros: Strong Radio Signal Excellent iPhone connectivity Bluetooth
Cons: Metra kit a little bit gappy.
The radio does all it was advertised to do and then some.
difficult to get into an Accura and have all the heater controls etc, work even with the correct adapter harness had to do some modifications to car
Ordered for my daughter and she loves it. Apple Play is a great feature and the Crutchfield support is awesome!!
awesome stereo works great love that pioneer is still the leader in car audio would not go back to JVC
Just what we needed! I bought this unit to replace an older Pioneer unit, AVH-3800 BHS unit. The wiring harness worked with no modifications including the steering wheel controls! Love the CarPlay with my iPhone6s. Works great, sounds great! Upgrading the software was a snap as well. Excellent value!
Pros: Easy to install Carplay works great Easy menus
This works great a very nice update for my truck. Really enjoy how this works with my iPhone.
great deal, amazing sound
Great product easy to install and set up
Everything works excellent and the sound is awesome! It is a great update for my 2013 wrx
Great product looks great I'm my car and sounds amazing
Updating prev review! Crutch. Swapped new unit and it's obvious the 1st one was defective, the new one looks works great!! However there are some funkiness with this deck, if connected to car play and you open certain things on phone deck will change source to nothing? Shuts off what your listening to for example, also there are quite a few options or features that are aren't available, greyed out!? DIimminf settings don't work and if they do, they follow headlights which stinks cuz everyone has daytime running lights nowadays! Other than that it's great! CarPlay has ALOT to improve on!!! But for the price great deck!!
Pros: Visibly stunning! Great many options, many settings! Great price!
Cons: Considering the tech in this, white a few bugs, and limitations!
I had high hopes for this radio looking at all of the reviews, but unfortunately it hit quite a bit short of the mark. The primary reason I bought this radio was for it's purported compatibility with Waze via Pioneers AppRadio App for the iPhone. However, it is NOT compatible with iOS11 and there is no ETA on a resolution. Had iOS11 just been released I would of been OK with this, but Pioneer should of had their hands on it over 6 months ago and a solution in place long before now. With all of that said the radio itself is impressive and does a great job. It's remaining feature set is impressive, but it's software and interface leave a LOT to be desired. Software and UI are clearly NOT Pioneer's strong suits and unfortunately leaves this unit with only 2 stars.
Cons: Poor US Poor customer support Poor timing on patches and updates
I like the layout of the radio, everything seems to work well together, although also seems a little slow to response and will some times have a hard time connecting to apple airplay when you first plug in. I was surprise to find and excited to see that amazon music app would play on it. Very pleased with purchase. Would love to submit a photo but could not access my pics on phone maybe I can later.
Pros: Great layout, easy learning, looks and sounds great. Using Apple play is awesome, I even got amazon music app on it!!!
Cons: A little slow to response, in touch and going from one screen to the next.
I love it! Now I can directly connect my iPhone 6S and use the Apple Car Play. Much less distracting than having my phone sitting on my dash and I have easy access to the apps that I am interested in: music, messages, phone
Works great and easy to install
Great options and features and great price !! However think I got a lemon. Screen flickers and sometimes goes blank when starting car. But they are sending me new one!
Installation instructions were great. Kept factory speakers. Can't believe how great the new stereo sounds. Great picture quality with the DVD function.
Pros: Easy to install
Cons: Not much room in Chevy dash for Maestro box and additional wiring but managed to cram it all in.
Love this radio. I've had several after market radios over the years and this is by far the best. Love the Apple Play and the ease of navigation of the menu.
Pros: Easy to navigate Apple Car Play
Cons: Doesn't make coffee
Great product at an excellent price with the best customer service I've ever had.
Pros: Apple Carplay
Cons: Haven't found any.
Easy to install and user friendly.
Great product love the hands free abelity and display wish the usb was up front the Crutchfield team did a great job with the wire harness made the installation a breeze
Great stereo! The Apple CarPlay and BlueTooth features work great and are easy to set up. Very easy to follow directions for installation and setup.
Pros: Apple CarPlay Overall Features
Cons: Nothing Yet
I was a bit skeptical going with this deck, after demoing different brands at local stores because it didn't have the physical knob and it seemed to have a slower response time than others, especially the Sony. I chose this model because I wanted Sirius, HD Radio, a CD, and CarPlay. After installing it in my wife's car and giving it a good spin through, all I can say is it exceeds my expectations, and it's response time isn't bad at all. The lack of a physical knob really isn't a big deal at all, and in fact, it's got a fast mute feature which is really handy (many others don't). There aren't any glare issues (big open, bright car), it's supremely customizable, looks good, and the price was great. If you're wanting the features I wanted at a lower price, you simply can't go wrong with this one.
Pros: CarPlay, HD Radio, Siri and CD for a great price.
Replaced my original stereo in 04 envoy xuv. Removal was easy. Install straight forward but had to call tech support a few times and was given wrong wiring info once which prolonged the process, however Crutchfield made everything right in the end. Put in a rearview camera at the same time and it works as it should. Sound is superior to the original deck using cheap aftermarket speakers. Apple carplay is convenient but some of the functionality is a letdown. The audio playback of texts is hard to understand, especially when punctuation isn't used. Siri cuts off the time given to listen to your reply texts which means you consistently have to erase and restart your dictation. Screen brightness is a big improvement over the other double din displays I've seen. Hd radio is a joy to have. The quality of the chime module is poor and sounds like a kids toy. Keep in mind that having apple carplay requires corded connection so don't forget to run that. Map function is strange because there doesn't appear to be a way to type in an address, and siri is not great at hearing destinations but it is not that big of a deal.
Pros: Good for iPhone Map navigation is convenient Sound quality excellent for cd/dvd and radio
Cons: Glitches with navigation and text functionality
Great stereo. Sounds fantastic. Didn't know that you have to be physically plugged in for CarPlay to function, so that will limit the amount of usefulness this will be.
Pros: great display, user interface. Love it!
Cons: need to plug phone into USB for CarPlay to function.
Very fast headunit. Menus are smooth and easy to read. Head unit responds quickly to touch inputs. Sound quality is impressive when paired even with OE speakers. Looking forward to upgrading the remainder of the system with this unit at it's core.
I gave it a 3stars for 2 simple reasons, only 1 usb/no hdmi. Reason 2 is that I like others am struggling with the app radio to iOS 11 adjustment. Meaning I cannot use Waze/YouTube and other apps until fixed by Apple or pioneer. It is a great value for the money, the most impressive thing so far is the voice to text with Siri, it has been 100% accurate and is very convenient. ***Also, Crutchfield gets 5 stars hands down second to none, they were super helpful choosing a unit / setup that was right for me, then the pc kept switching my bezel back to matte black and the on the final order page I forgot to switch it back to gloss and received a matte blk bezel. Anyway, within 2hrs Crutchfield had a gloss blk one on its way to me with circle talk or run around, just a "yes we can fix that for u"
Pros: CarPlay/app radio (when fixed to work with iOS 11), mic is clear and Siri works better the $1,550 units that I've had,
Cons: Am doesn't play at all (I listen to talk radio), no Waze/YouTube until iOS 11 issue is resolved
I am a little disappointed that apple car play requires that my phone be connected via USB instead of being able to operate via Bluetooth, but that seems to be universal and not to do with this specific head unit. I did take off 1 star however because the bezel that came with the unit was connected via two plastic adapters and screws. The instructions said to use 3 screws on either side, but only 2 of the holes lined up. It seemed sturdy enough with only 2 screws on either side so I just left it that way but it still makes me a little nervous. Maybe the adapter needs to be updated?
Pros: System works great Installation difficulty comparable to other systems
Cons: Bezel doesn't have the correct hole placement for the recommended 3 screws per side to attach
Love this unit! I bought it for my wife and she is actually loving it too! Great features and sound!
Good system, everything I wanted and install was fairly easy. The functionality is all there and this can be tweaked to your liking. Car play works well on a iphone 6s, bluetooth is clear, and the mic picks up sound well too. The system moves through screens fairly quick, I wouldnt say fast but not annoying either. Overall I am happy with the system. I do want to mention, this is our second unit. The first unit kept giving us an AMP error randomly. We checked all the speaker connections for any frayed or missed wired connections. We finally called into Crutchfield for a replacement and it is now good to go.
Pros: fairly easy install, good functionality, and overall good system
I purchased this 1330NEX for a second car specifically because of the Apple CarPlay feature. I have 4200NEX in my other car, and the CarPlay feature had me sold. Sonically, the 1330 is every bit as good as the 4200. The 1330 made the stock speakers in the Mazda 5 come to life and the subwoofer output for the separate subwoofer I had in the car (also purchased from Crutchfield) works perfectly integrated into the radio controls. Even though Crutchfield didn't recommend using the Maestro RR unit to integrate the steering wheel controls, I decided to go that route since that combination worked so well in my other Mazda. I have all the steering wheel controls, I can answer the phone with the steering wheel controls and as an added bonus, I also can view various car functions through the OBDII port (water temp, exhaust temp, timing, etc). I highly recommend this radio if you are looking for a cost effective way to improve your car system and add CarPlay at the same time.
Pros: Apple CarPlay. HD Radio. SiriusXM. Flexible audio outputs. Plenty of power. Nice large beautiful touchscreen.
Cons: no matter how I try, I can't seem to load a custom picture for the display background. I minor issue for sure. But it baffles me why since I did a custom background picture on my other Pioneer unit.
Great easy to install with the installation kit that came with it Very easy to use ,Love apple car play the sound is greate
Great budget system. CarPlay is awesome and sound is great.
This a Pioneer sounds great. Is fairly easy to understand and looks pretty good.
Works as advertised. Great options. A bunch I actually don't understand as of yet to be honest. Sound quality is great. Picture quality is good. CarPlay feature for phone rocks.
This is a great unit. I compared it side by side in my truck with the more expensive Pioneer 4200 and I preferred this one by far. The fact that it has intelligently designed and placed real buttons is worth it to me alone. It has a dedicated back up camera button, which is great (the 4200 requires digging through a variety of menus) and all the buttons are easy to find without looking at them. I found myself having to look at the 4200 constantly to find buttons and it made me feel unsafe driving. Not sure why the car stereo world seems to overlook well thought out physical interface buttons and knobs. There are also a number of well thought out features on the 1330 that the 4200 doesn't have (at least that I couldn't find on the 4200) such as button illumination brightness settings. I didn't find the smaller screen size to be a problem (it's still quite large), and I actually personally prefer it as I don't like being blinded by a huge screen all the time. It also seems to start up faster than the 4200. I just wish the unit had a detachable face, as that is the main thing the 4200 has that this unit does not. Earlier versions of press and pre sale descriptions said the 1330 had a detachable face and it definitely does not. This is the lower end of the price scale for the AVH line and I think its completely worth every penny.
Pros: buttons. buttons. buttons. on the DRIVERS SIDE. dedicated back up cam button. streamlined, simple and affordable.
Cons: Wish it had a detachable face. Wish all of the Pioneer units had a cleaner look with less text / logos on the bezel.
Don't like the App, but radio is great. Like the controls and sound options. Bluetooth connection is rough sometimes, but would recommend radio to others
I really love this deck but it a couple quirks that I find annoying. The deck is supper easy to operate and apple car play is awesome! One of the issues I have with this deck is when you start the car and you are wanting to continue streaming music from your Bluetooth device it does start playing automatically. It will show the device is connect and will appear to play but no sound is coming out. I have to change I put back to Bluetooth device (which it the original setting) and it will play. Another issue is that even with the iPhone volume turned up the volume that streams is much quieter that I would expect. If I plug it into car play mode it will be super loud and have to turn the volume down. Other than those minor quirks I love this deck
Absolutely love this stereo. Easy to install and works great.
Love the functionality and the ability to sync my iPhone through Apple car play. Bonus that it also syncs great with my husbands samsung.
This model has HD Radio whereas the Sony didn't, easy choice. Installed Timloon Car 5V 2.1A USB Interface Socket Charger and USB Audio input Socket use for TOYOTA into a switch blank. Sometimes the Apple Carplay does not connect using the apple usb cable that came with the phone. The screen just freezes or is extremely slow or Carplay doesn't load. Changing to some aftermarket usb cable to phone worked, which is weird as Apple says to only use Apple cable. Still not 100%. I may have to change the USB interface socket but it came prewired so I'll have to cut it and somehow attach the USB cable that came with this radio. Unit sounds great, very clear even with factory speakers. The mic is placed above the steering column and sounds crystal clear whereas I installed another Pioneer in my Tacoma on the driver pillar and I can hear road noise, maybe it needs adjusting. Also installed the AUTO-VOX Cam 6 Rear Reverse Backup Camera License Plate Parking Rearview System. Works great. Axxess ASWC-1 Steering Wheel Control Adapter controls work nice too although when I first installed it I plugged it in the AUX of unit but had to reset it as you need to plug it into W/R. Would have been nice if there was mention of the reset button somewhere in instructions and it's not labeled anywhere. You have to push something (like a paper clip) into the Axxes to reset it. I had to google it and read it on some forum. After I reset it and turned on the unit it found my controls setting
Pros: Sound, Mic, Siri, Texting, Backup Cam, HD Radio.
Cons: Wired Carplay is a problem with Apple Lighting USB. Wireless would eliminate stupid Apple rules.
This radio is a perfect for for older cars/suvs etc., as well for newer vehicles (Maesro iDATALINK ready for newer cars) I've purchased 3 of these units .. 2001 Odyssey, 2002 Odyssey & 2007 Accord sedan. All installed well/fabulous fit, using the included Metra mounting kits. Bright Hi-Res Screen really "pops", and is dimmable for night driving (Manually toggle, as well as AUTO if supported by you car make/model) The iPhone Bluetooth (in vehicle speakerphone interface) performs 2nd to none, as well as car play .. seamless interface with Siri for hands free voice texting - nice touch .. but takes a little practice) Built-In HD radio - very nice. SiriusXM add-on tuner works perfectly (it was a considerable amount extra work installing the antenna, but that goes for all aftermarket SXM installs). Both HD radio and SiriusXM have thumbnail graphics (Pic of artist, album covers, etc., - again, nice touch) Steering Wheel Controls add-on "black box" (Access WXWC-1) works extremely well, but make sure you get "all" the instructions, as those on Access's website seem incomplete.
Pros: Perfect radio for Older vehicles (as well as newer ones)
Cons: 1) SXM is not on the home screen, you have to select AV to access it. 2) The Dimming toggle (Day/Night) should be an option to the main screen. 3) The BSM can be easily accidentally pressed, and you'll wipe out your presets - it should have an "are you sure" Y/N option.
Fantastic sound, easy install.
Pros: Great Sound, easy to use.
Cons: Wish that the screen would just be track info rather than cluttering with unnecessary icons.
Works great and easy to use.
My overall expectations were exceeded. The whole experience that Crutchfield provided made mating the radio, siriusxm, wiring harness and facia plate was dome automatically for me by Crutchfield. I was skeptical that all would go as indicated. I was amazed at how simple this imstallation was. Would not comsider purchasing anywhere else!
Pros: Exceeded my expectations
First time I have ever used Crutchfield and my experience was 5 stars for their service. I received "on the fly" instructions on my iPad (next to me in car seat) when I had specific wire questions. I installed this radio in a 2015 Subaru Forester (Touring 2.5i) and found it to be perfect solution from options available relative to price point. The 440 watt Harmon Kardon OEM speakers and amp work well together with this radio to provide improved sound. Note: you do not need to by another amp as you'll be connecting the 1330NEX to existing Harmon Kardon amp in the Subaru (2 blue wires connect). What I wanted: Pioneer , Carplay ,HD radio (included), auto EQ using pioneer mic, expandable option to ad navigation/Sirius module later (add'l cost, not included, just the ports provided on back of radio), and minimum 6.5" screen. iPhone connection via UBS takes about 5 seconds and CarPlay works flawless. What I didn't want: paying for extras I didn't need in higher end Pioneer modules. Performance: very good menu performance and once I used the auto EQ using Pioneer's mic to balance the sound HUGE difference . Worth the extra money to get enhanced sound .(note have used this for indoor sound and 2 cars and it DOES make a difference) Antenna: factory antenna will connect to this unit UBS connector suggested: DO NOT BUY...this chord will patch Pioneer ->Subaru UBS ->center console. INSTEAD, 1330NEX provided chord.
Pros: Looks great, good sound, menu functions perform very well, love the CarPlay, Spotify is awesome on this unit...
Cons: Had to cut/modify 3/8" the provided trim ring to ensure flush mount to dash. If you don't want flush mount then radio will be recessed ..
Pretty decent HU. Installed this in our Jeep JKU because the stock 130 unit was garbage and we wanted a backup camera. Works well, but the UI is slow. Even in comparison to other factory units. There's an annoyingly large amount of lag when changing screens. Not enough to make me want to return it, but just enough to bother you. The UI is OK, but it still takes several presses too much to do some things. I don't think they really thought the UI through too much. Carplay works well, and the mic quality is impressive compared to the old AVIC I used to have. Built in HD-Radio is a nice feature.
Pros: Carplay Built-In HD-Radio iDatalink Maestro Integration
Cons: Slow UI Clunky UI
CarPlay and Bluetooth volume is not working. I've triple checked wiring wit support. Can't answer or make calls.
Pros: Great sound
Cons: People can't hear when calling. Wiring is 100%
Pros: Hugh Upgrade for my 01 Caddy Deville
My son and I installed this in his 2005 F150 along with 4 Alpine speakers. The sound is amazing compared to the factory unit and OEM speakers. I like all of the EQ options you have, as well as custom EQ settings. The Apple CarPlay is great! We are able to pair multiple phones with Bluetooth which is convenient. We installed the interface so the steering wheel controls work with the head unit. Completely satisfied and Crutchfield was great with their tech line. This was the first time we had installed a radio and speakers and it was not bad at all. I highly recommend this radio!
Pros: Ease of installation Great sound Custom settings Apple CarPlay
I installed this in my 2005 Pontiac GTO. The factory radio does not have phone integration and the sound was marginal. The Pioneer is a VAST improvement over stock, even with the stock speakers. I now have built in Bluetooth, HD Radio, Apply Car Play and a modern sound system. I also installed the steering wheel controller and was able to retain the majority of the controls.
Pros: Sound quality, features - bluetooth, HD Radio, Car Play, idatalink, camera, etc.
Cons: Not related to the radio but I am still trying to map the steering wheel controls for CD/iPod to do track selection. This may be a programming issue that I will continue to research.
Probably the best purchase I made. It has made my driving experience much more enjoyable. The Pioneer with Apple control is great.
Installed this into my wife's Sienna. Very intuitive to use this head unit. The sound from this unit is awesome. CarPlay works seamlessly. I really like the ability to "favorite" settings so you don't have to dig down into the menu options.
Couldn't be happier with the Pioneer system and the end result. Buzz helped me select the right gear and I went with the "Ready Harness" service to save time. The pre-made harness made the installation a snap, and detailed instructions made this work with my 2003 Acura RSX factory Bose amplifier and subwoofer - without any hiss and great sound quality. Apple CarPlay made my old RSX look, feel and sound modern!
Pros: Easy install, great sound and super ease of use without having to crack open a user manual
Cons: Apple CarPlay doesn't fully support the Waze app, but there are workarounds to get most of the Waze functionality
Crutchfield you guys are awesome the unit fit perfectly sound is on point very easy to install with directions would definitely recommend this unit so people if you are looking for a good sounding stereo this is the way to go
Pros: Perfect fit very little modifications
Ordered this the day it became available and had it installed the same day I received it. I wanted Apple CarPlay in my 2003 Silverado and this fit the bill perfectly. It made my factory Bose system sound awesome. I'm glad I waited for this to finally be stocked. I almost ordered an older model, which I am sure would have been great, but wanted one of the newest models out.
Pros: Apple CarPlay HD Radio built in Cheap for what it is Easy to use
Cons: Wish it had a rotary dial but most units nowadays do not
I wanted to add bluetooth to my truck. I didn't realize it would have such good sound. I love it and am glad I got it.
Pros: Low price, Great sound. Easy to operate.

Clear Resistive LCD Touchscreen: The Pioneer AVH-1330NEX features a 6.2" clear resistive LCD touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 (RGB) x 480, for a total of 1,152,000 pixels. The clear resistive panel is designed to enhance the visibility of on-screen graphics and images, making them appear clear and crisp. The touchscreen display allows you to control this unit and a connected component such as an iPod/iPhone, Android smartphone, Bluetooth phone, or USB mass storage class device. Menus appear on screen for making function choices, audio adjustments, and setting up the system.
Variable Illumination: The AVH-1330NEX offers custom illumination for the front-panel controls so you can match your vehicle's interior, plus MIXTRAX Illumination for DJ-style illumination in your vehicle.
Dimmer: The receiver's touchscreen display & button illumination can be dimmed manually, automatically or via a timer. You can set the unit's LCD touchscreen & button illumination to automatically dim when your vehicle's headlights are turned on (this function requires that the orange/white illumination wire in the wiring harness is hardwired to the vehicle's headlight circuit). You can also set a specific time and duration for unit's LCD & button illumination to dim.
Remote Functions: The Pioneer AVH-1330NEX DVD receiver includes a wireless remote control and offers steering wheel control capability (adapter required).
Parking Brake Interlock: This unit has a parking brake interlock system that prohibits viewing of video programming and operating certain controls when the vehicle is in motion. In order to watch video on the in-dash monitor, the vehicle must be stopped with the parking brake engaged. The head unit's light green wire must be connected to your vehicle's parking brake detection circuit. The head unit's touchscreen will display "Attention! Viewing of front seat video source while driving is strictly prohibited", if you try to watch a video when your vehicle is in motion.
Apple CarPlay: The Pioneer AVH-1330NEX features Apple CarPlay, the smarter and safer way to use your iPhone in the car. The Pioneer AVH-1330NEX supports Apple CarPlay through your USB-connected iPhone (iOS 7.1+) with Lightning connector. Your iPhone can be connected to the NEX-series head unit's rear-panel USB port via the included USB extension cable and a Lightning-to-USB cable. Apple CarPlay gives iPhone users an incredibly intuitive way to make calls, use Maps, listen to music, and access messages through Siri voice control and the Pioneer receiver's touchscreen controls.
AppRadio Mode+: The Pioneer DVD receiver features AppRadio Mode+ for Apple iPhones (iOS 7.0-10.3.3) with Lightning connector and select Android (OS 4.4+) smartphones. AppRadio Mode+ gives you the ability to view and control compatible iPhone and Android smartphone apps from the receiver's touchscreen using a one-cable USB connection. You'll need to download Pioneer's AppRadio app (for Apple iOS 7.0-10.3.3 / Android OS 4.4+) and the AppRadioLive app (Apple iOS 7.0-10.3.3 / Android OS 4.4+) onto your compatible iPhone or Android smartphone. Once you have downloaded the apps, your compatible iPhone or Android smartphone simply connects to the Pioneer DVD receiver's USB input using the cable that came with your mobile device. Now that the AppRadio and AppRadioLive apps are downloaded, and your compatible Apple iPhone or Android smartphone is connected the DVD receiver, you have access to maps, media, news information, and your events calendar through the receiver's intuitive touchscreen interface.
Note: With the introduction of Apple's new iOS 11, Pioneer has discovered an incompatibility with AppRadio Mode+ & AppRadioLive. If you connect an Apple iOS device that has been updated to iOS 11 and launch AppRadio or AppRadioLive, you will experience a blank screen or other display malfunction that disables AppRadio & AppRadioLive Mode. To maintain compatibility with AppRadio & AppRadioLive Mode, please continue using iOS 10. Pioneer is working to resolve the issue with new firmware updates for the receivers (no eta). For further information, please click here.

The AVH-1330NEX offers audio playback, music navigation, information display, and charging of select Apple iPod/iPhone models. You will need a Lightning-to-USB or dock-to-USB cable to connect your Apple iPod/iPhone device.

|Audio||Video||Head Unit||iPod/iPhone||CarPlay||AppRadio||Spotify||Pandora||Song/Artist||Track Info||Album Art||Phone||Audio||Siri|

In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles -
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Pioneer AVH-1330NEX.
SPP (Secure Simple Pairing) w/ Dual Phone Connection: With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the AVH-1330NEX without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings. Up to 5 Bluetooth-compatible devices can be paired to this head unit. An already paired Bluetooth device will automatically re-connect with the head unit when it is in close proximity inside the vehicle. You are even able to keep two Bluetooth-enabled smartphones connected at the same time, so you can switch between phones from the head unit's touchscreen, without having to connect or re-connect devices.
Hands-Free Communication (w/ External Mic): The PioneerAVH-1330NEX supports wireless hands-free communication for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. Thanks to the latest Hands-Free Profile (HFP 1.6) with wideband speech capability, the AVH-1330NEX provides more natural sound quality and details during wireless calls. The AVH-1330NEX allows you to carry on a phone conversation from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone using the head unit's external microphone and your car audio speakers. During a conversation you can adjust the volume, as well as switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode.
Note: Advanced phone operations that require attention, such as dialing numbers on the touchscreen monitor or adjusting Bluetooth settings, are prohibited while driving. The vehicle's parking brake must be engaged to access these functions.
Wireless Audio Streaming: The Pioneer AVH-1330NEX also supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth enabled audio player or smartphone. The head unit can stream music stored on your Bluetooth enabled device or music apps you have downloaded on your device. When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call.
Siri Eyes-Free Functionality: When paired and connected to an iPhone (iOS 6.1+) with Siri via Bluetooth, the Pioneer AVH-1330NEX has the ability to access Siri through its touchscreen and external microphone for Siri Eyes-Free functionality. When activated, Siri voice prompts play through the vehicle's speakers and the user's commands and questions are received and transmitted to the receiver using the external microphone. Siri Eyes-Free provides access to many iPhone Siri functions such as music selection, making phone calls, and audible navigation (map will be displayed on iPhone); as well as listening to text messages, calendar information, and reminders. The head unit's audio is muted while Siri provides audible voice prompts.
Note: The head unit's touchscreen monitor will only indicate hands-free calling and song/artist information (all other functions of Siri are only audible through the Pioneer AVH-1330NEX; visual data will still need to be viewed from your iPhone device).
Spotify Online Music Service: The Pioneer AVH-1330NEX has the ability to playback & control content from the Spotify music app (for Apple iOS 8.0+ or Android OS 4.0+) on your USB or Bluetooth connected iPhone, or Bluetooth connected Android smartphone. Advanced Playback & Search Functions (for USB): Advance playback functions include; Music Browsing which lets you browse your USB memory device's music library by Artist, Album, Song, or Genre from the head unit in alphabetical order; and Link Play which allows you to play songs related to the currently playing song. Link Play lets the head unit create an album list of the currently playing artist, a song list of the currently playing album, or an album list of the currently playing genre.
Direct DVD Search: During DVD playback, you can go directly to a specific Title or Chapter by entering the number using the unit's touchscreen numeric keypad.
Parental Lock: This unit features an 8-level Parental Lock system protected by a user-selected 4-digit password to prevent certain DVD's from being played back on the AVH-1330NEX.
24-Bit/192kHz DAC: The Pioneer AVH-1330NEX is equipped with a 24-bit/192Hz digital-to-analog converter for superb quality audio playback from disc, USB, iPod/iPhone, Android, and Bluetooth.
MOSFET50 Internal Amplifier: The Pioneer AVH-1330NEX is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit.
Note: The power specifications for the AVH-1330NEX are compliant with the CTA-2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers.
4V/6CH Preamp Outputs + Sub Control: The Pioneer AVH-1330NEX features three pair of 4.0-volt preamp outputs (Front/Rear/Subwoofer). The unit's front and rear preamp output can be faded (front/rear), while the subwoofer preamp output is non-fading. The Pioneer AVH-1330NEX lets you adjust the subwoofer preamp output's phase (normal/reverse) and volume (+10 to -24).
Crossovers: The AVH-1330NEX employs high-pass and low-pass crossovers to tailor the head unit to your connected speaker setup.
EEQ (Easy EQ) w/ 13-Band Graphic EQ: There are seven stored equalizer curves which you can easily recall at any time. You can choose from - Powerful, Natural, Vocal, Super Bass, Flat, Custom 1, or Custom 2. The Custom 1 and Custom 2 EQ modes allow you to manually adjust the level (+/- 12dB) of each band of the head unit's 13-band graphic equalizer (50, 80, 125, 200, 315, 500, 800, 1.25k, 2k, 3.15k, 5k, 8k, and 12.5k Hz).
Auto EQ (Optional): The auto-equalizer automatically measures your car's interior acoustic characteristics, and then creates an auto-equalizer curve base on that information. The Pioneer CD-MC20 Auto-EQ microphone (130CDMC20, sold separately) is required to use this function. The Pioneer CD-MC20 Auto-EQ microphone plugs into your compatible Pioneer A/V receiver's rear-panel AUX 3.5mm input. The Auto-EQ microphone should be placed in the center of your vehicle's driver seat headrest facing forward for EQ measurement.
Audio Settings: The head unit provides further sound adjustments for your car audio system.
Rear Speaker Setup: The rear speaker outputs can be set to provide full range output with full fading capability, or they can be set to provide non-fading subwoofer (low-pass) output. When the rear speaker outputs are set to subwoofer mode, the rear preamp outputs also switch from full range to subwoofer outputs. When set for subwoofer operation, you can connect the rear speaker leads directly to two small 4-ohm passive subwoofers or a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils. If you prefer to use a single 2-ohm subwoofer, you can connect the woofer to one set of speaker leads, leaving the other set of rear leads disconnected. The maximum output provided when a 2-ohm load is connected to one set of leads is 70 watts.
MIXTRAX: Drawing from Pioneer's rich DJ heritage and passion for music, MIXTRAX delivers a unique DJ infused listening experience to listeners in the car. MIXTRAX is an innovative Pioneer technology that creates a non-stop mix of your music library complete with a range of DJ-inspired effects. MIXTRAX takes your typical music listening experience and creates a non-stop mix of your music with 6 random DJ effects and transitions, by removing the breaks and pauses normally introduced between tracks and replacing them with various beats. MIXTRAX is compatible with USB-connected iPhone, iPod, USB MSC device, and select Android devices. There is also a Short Playback option which limits the amount of time each track plays.
Note: The MIXTRAX function does not work with CarPlay, AppRadioLive, Pandora, or Spotify.
Beep Tone: The in-dash head unit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation. You can turn this feature on or off.
Dual AV Inputs: The Pioneer AVH-1330NEX has dual AV inputs to connect two external audio/video sources. The head unit has a rear-panel 3.5mm minijack AV input for connecting a portable audio/video device. There is also a rear-panel composite video/stereo RCA AV input for connecting a video component such as a mobile TV tuner or game console.
Video Output: A single RCA composite video-output jack allows you to an add external monitor, such as rear headrest or overhead monitor (sold separately). The video output can display a DVD, USB, or AV-input video signal when its selected as the receiver's source, regardless if the vehicle's parking brake is engaged or not.
Note: CarPlay & AppRadioLive are not supported by the video output.
Rear-View Camera Input: The AVH-1330NEX is equipped with a composite video rear-view camera input for the addition of an optional backup camera (130NDBC8, sold separately). When the vehicle's transmission is put in reverse, the screen automatically switches to the rear view camera (violet/white wire of the harness must be connected to the vehicle's reverse lamp circuit for automatic video switching). Automatic video switching takes approximately 0.8 seconds. Additional rear-view camera features include:
Note: The rear view camera feature is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rear-view camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rear-view camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.
Navigation Ready: The Pioneer AVH-1330NEX allows you to connect the Pioneer AVIC-U280 add-on navigation unit (130AVIC280, sold separately) through its RGB Input. This versatile hideaway unit allows you to switch to navigation mode with the touch of a button. Get to your destination by inputting an address or search through the POI library while enjoying whatever source is currently playing.
iDatalink Serial Port: This Pioneer DVD receiver is compatible with the iDatalink Maestro RR (794ADSMRR, sold separately); a web programmable module that will permit the aftermarket Pioneer receiver to work with select Ford/Lincoln/Mercury vehicles that feature the factory SYNC system, select GM vehicles with factory OnStar, select Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles with U-Connect, select Volkswagens with factory digital amplifier, select Toyota/Scion vehicles, and select Fiat vehicles.
Note: The iDatalink Maestro RR is web programmable, which means you'll need to flash the iDatalink Maestro RR interface module with the correct firmware from iDatalink's website. In addition to flashing the iDatalink Maestro RR module, you'll also need a vehicle specific harness (sold separately). The Pioneer receiver's OEM Setup menu must also be configured with your compatible vehicle's factory system before initial operation.

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Krissy Oct 19, 2017 ] Staff
Hi. Nice reaching out to other Crutchfield customers. Unfortunately I have not had the time to explore everything that this unit offers. I would imagine if you get a splitter to plug into the ox cord that would answer your question. Best of luck to you. [ peter Oct 18, 2017 ]
Unfortunately not because there is only one USB port and it is required for Apple CarPlay. However you could connect your iPod via the USB port for music and your phone via Bluetooth (for calls and audio navigation, but not using the CarPlay interface.) [ Christopher Oct 18, 2017 ]
This works great with iPhone [ Bing Oct 17, 2017 ]
I don't believe so. This unit only has one USB port, so that limits things. You can connect your iPhone via Bluetooth, but the CarPlay functionality goes away. All you will be left with is your phone's audio output and phone calls. [ Steven Oct 17, 2017 ]
Not by USB since there is only one USB port and it is needed for carplay. There is an aux input, however I have not tried it. [ JohnK Oct 17, 2017 ]
No apps outside of the preloaded ones show up on the screen. [ Thomas Oct 07, 2017 ]
unfortunately, the uber app does not show up on the screen. [ Roderick Oct 07, 2017 ]
No. If you go to Apple's website, you can see the handful of apps that work with CarPlay. It is apple .com / ios / carplay (Had to break it up like this due to Crutchfield's answer limitation.) [ Pete G. Oct 07, 2017 ]
No, only what is displayed in the photos on the site. Pretty much Apple standard apps. Good system though. [ Stephen Oct 07, 2017 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. It would depend on the rear video system. To output video, you'd have to connect it to the video out on the rear of the unit. And I am sure it works with Android, but does not have Android Auto. [ Pete G. Oct 07, 2017 ]
In short no as the microphone is part of a wiring harness. Great question and I asked the same thing "can I use existing microphone in a Subaru Forester?" I didn't have on Onstar and it sounds like your car is equipped and perhaps newer. Since you have Onstar and sounds like you desire to retain service I suggest it is an added layer of complexity in terms of a wiring harness connection. I did use the provided microphone supplied with the 1330NEX and it was easy to run and install. Sound works great and responsive. BTW- pay the $20and get the microphone to calibrate the sound in your car. I have done this with two Pioneer radios in two separate cars and it is VERY effective and a sound changer. Mark [ Buffaloe Oct 04, 2017 ]
I would assume that you can as long as it has the same connector. [ james Oct 04, 2017 ]
I would assume that you can given it has the same connector. [ james Oct 04, 2017 ]
Yes, CarPlay does allow for Apple maps to run. [ Roy Oct 03, 2017 ]
Yes. You can also use WAZE, but the WAZE integration works correctly sometimes, but usually has problems and does not work correctly. The Apple maps works flawlessly every time. Waze is my preferred travel app, so I hope they figure the WAZE app out. [ Harley Oct 01, 2017 ]
Yes, apple maps can be used with CarPlay. [ Brad Sep 30, 2017 ]
Yes it works very well with Apple maps. You can see the map on your screen and the audio through your system. The audio for maps can be set independently from what you are listening to. The audio ducts down to allow for any verbal instructions from Maps. It works far better with Maps than Waze. I believe it only allow audio form Waze. At lease that's what I understand from the manual and that matches my own experience. I really y love this system. It brings my 1987 Camry back to the future. [ Gary Sep 30, 2017 ]
Yes it does when the iPhone is connected via the lightning to USB cable into the radio. [ Chris Sep 30, 2017 ]

I have it installed in a '97 Camry and it rocks. As far as CarPlay goes pg 111 of the user manual (which can be downloaded ) explains that the USB connection is necessary for CarPlay. The Bluetooth connection will now only allow audio while the device is connected via the USB cable. A car with built in CarPlay may work differently. [ Gary Aug 16, 2017 ]
No it won't work unfortunately [ Christopher Jan 16, 2018 ]

Yes. Tap the gear icon and then the speaker, and then go to Fade/Balance. [ Pete G. Dec 04, 2017 ]
It has amazing fade, balance controls. There are presets that are preprogrammed for different listening experiences. It will adjust for where you select as your listening position in the car. All can be done live. Combine it with total EQ control and ( if you have high end speakers) it sounds amazing. [ Gary Sep 30, 2017 ]
Yes, you can from any source, there is also a crossfade to adjust the front and back speakers accordingly. [ Kenny Aug 10, 2017 ]
Thanks for your question. If I understand correctly you are asking about the microphone. There is not one listed in "Accessories" because the unit comes with a microphone already. You'll see everything that comes with the unit in the "What's in the Box" section: Microphone w/ visor-bracket (attached 13' cable terminated by a right-angled 2.5mm connector). Hope this information helps. [ Kenny Aug 07, 2017 ] Staff
