    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The receiver arrived quickly even though I had them splice the harness on. The instructions to take out the old receiver was grossly incomplete. I took this opportunity to show my 16 year old son how to replace a radio. The instructions told us to remove the two harnesses and plug in the new one. No mention of the antennae or the strip ground or the soldered on ground. The kit also does not include any type of bracket to hold the new smaller radio up in the back once installed. I would also add instructions on how to diagnose amp issues which are at both door speakers. Probably would have received some help if I called but I was already frustrated with the lack of instructions or any kind of wiring diagram. It was nice to get the harness and install kit for free but the harness is very cheaply made and did not hold up well to multiple plugging and unplugging. The receiver works just fine and is decently made.

Pros: Nice light little unit that produces plenty of sound.

Cons: Needs more instructions to cover everything that is attached to the existing stock radio. Also needs some type of bracket to hold the radio up in the rear.

Everything I expected. Everything I needed to install the radio was included, and worked with the PT cruiser. This purchase was for a 78 year old Alzheimer's patient, who's radio had not worked in a long time. She was pleased with the sound , loved the red lighting . As the care giver the overall experience was trouble free. I received the order very quick. The installation was quick and easy. Everything worked as expected. We are very happy with this choice.

Sounds great. Plenty of power for the average listener. I am a musician, I love the various EQ options. The settings and other controls are not that obvious, but can be intuited. I installed this stereo in my daughter's car. Thanks to Crutchfield, I was able to do the install myself in about an hour and a half! This particular stereo was easy to install. The stereo has good sound and the buttons are more responsive than my expensive Kenwood. This is a simple stereo with CD, radio and the ability to plug in your cell phone. There are a ton of sound quality options.

Pros: Buttons are very responsive Tons of options for sound.

Lousy AM/FM reception from the cheapest Pioneer stero they make.

Kerry O from Farmington, MO on 5/26/2016

    2005 Acura RSX
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We have now owned this stereo for one month. The CD player is fine...however the FM radio reception is worse than the stock Acura Stereo and the AM reception is Much Much worse. Even when driving within 5 miles of the largest AM radio station transmitter in the Midwest (KMOX 1120 AM) radio reception was nearly nonexistent and variable. If you listen to talk radio on AM when traveling.... this tuner is worthless. I first thought the antenna cable must have been dislodged so I removed the radio a second time (not an easy install due to limited access) to check it.... and the cable was firmly in place. The CD player seems to work well however the controls are not intuitive and overly complicated. In addition, the daytime illumination is far too hard to see. It is only acceptable at night. I would not recommend nor buy this stereo again. If we still had the original box I would return it to Crutchfield for an exchange ... however we did not expect any problems and ditched the original shipping container and packaging. So we now have a Pioneer stereo that performs worse on the tuner side than the original factory stereo. Also....the Metra installation Kit #99-7867 supplied was totally unnecessary. The Pioneer fit inside the original factory enclosure without modification. The Metra wiring harness #70-1721 supplied worked very well and was a real time saver.

Pros: -The CD works -The red illumination matches the Acura RSX gauges

Cons: -Lousy FM reception -Unbelievably bad / non existent AM reception -Complicated / confusing controls -Poor daytime illumination that is Much too dim -Only average sound quality at best -Poor minimal instructions on operation

Crutchfield response on 5/30/2016 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.

This is a cheap but effective replacement for my OEM unit. Definitely a step up in quality of audio from the OEM unit. Also saves space (allowed me for a bay since this unit is a single din) Easy to install and easy to use. I installed this radio with such ease with the help of the instructions specific to my 1983 Mercedes 380SL. I really was not looking forward to this project but Crutchfield and their concern for quality made this really fun to install. The Pioneer AM/FM CD radio looks and sounds terrific. I don't know how much I saved installing this myself, but I'm sure it was quite a bit, plus the big thing for me was I did not have to worry about any damage to my car by someone else. Thank you Crutchfield!!!!!

Pros: Quality and ease of install and a great radio.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking for a simple stereo for the one that came with the car. Not too cheap, but enough oomph for such a little car. This unit did the job perfectly. Great sound through the factory speakers and just enough options for my taste. I set it on the"powerful" setting on the EQ button and it works awesome. Now the instruction booklet is for english teachers; way too much writing for getting the necessary information across. I strongly recommend a one card picture graph on the use of the unit. Geez, I had to go through it a dozen times to get the point they were making. Anyway, a great little unit that I'd recommend for simple tastes. Oh, the setup was a breeze with Crutchfield oversight. No issues at all.

Pros: Great sound through the factory speakers and easy setup courtesy of Crutchfield..

Cons: Sucky instructions by the manufacturer.

    2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Our Pt Cruiser that we bought within the last year had a cassette player/ radio in it. My wife who drives more often than I was wanting a cd player in it. She said nothing fancy just something that would play her cd's since she doesn't listen to the radio much and doesn't do cassettes any more. I thought of checking Crutchfield's site and it was a great idea. Looked at the cd players, the site showed what would fit in the older PT Cruiser and what wiring harness and bezel was needed. We called the phone number just to confirm that the info was correct and the rep was topnotch in giving the info that we needed. He also made it easy to take our info and order right then over the phone. A few days later we received the Pioneer unit with the wiring harness and bezel with a number to call if additional install instructions were needed. All the order info as well as install instruction downloads had been sent to my e-mail account. Now I am not a whiz at electronics or even mechanics, so I am glad I didn't have to be. I took out the old unit and wired the included harness to the new Pioneer and installed it in a few hours on that weekend. It is working great and my wife is very happy with its features and sound.

Pros: Great easy to use features and sound

Cons: none so far as we are concerned

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this radio to replace the stock radio in my 2006 Pontiac G6 GT. I am more than happy with the result. As soon as I turned it on, I could tell a difference in sound quality. The hardest part about installing it wasn't due to the radio, but a small bolt holding the glove box in place. Very easy to install, especially with the installation kit recommended on the site at purchase. I'd recommend this radio for anybody wanting good sound quality for great value.

Pros: Great sound quality, easy to use interface, easy to install, AUX capablity, CD player works well, handy remote if you're into that sort of thing.

Cons: I haven't noticed any Cons, really.

    2003 Honda Civic Hybrid
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sounds good and was fairly easy to install in my 2003 Civic Hybrid. The price was right. Can't speak to the build quality since it is only a couple of weeks old. My problem with it is the display is unreadable during daylight driving. Attempts to read the dimly lit readout while driving might even be considered a serious safety hazard and product liability issue for Pioneer. Email contact with customer support confirmed that there is no way to increase the illumination level on this model. The "dimming" setting is only "off" or "on" and I gather refers to decreasing the illumination of the bright red (fairly annoying) buttons when the headlights are turned on and off, although the instructions seem unclear and I can tell no difference between the two settings.

Pros: sounds okay, inexpensive, easy to install

    Cons: illegible display

    Good Radio

RicK B. from Lynchburg Va on 1/15/2016

This is a nice radio for the money; certainly better than factory. So if you are just looking for a nice radio with good sound to replace a factory radio you will be satisfied. If you are looking for quality sound consider investing a bit more. I am very happy with this radio as I have put it in my old Dodge pickup and the sounds is great compared to what I had. This system can be a little glitchy; the channel on the radio just started changing channels as if I had pressed scan, but I didn't. I was able to figure out how it works without the manual so I would have to say it is user friendly! :) It was very easy to install.

Pros: Good value; better quality than factory; easy to install.

Cons: The one I have is a bit glitchy.

Just wanted to get a basic radio for my dead one in a 95 Ranger. Radio sound quality is very good. Some controls are hard to adjust while driving though. My main complaint if you can call it that is the display is hard to read in bright sunlight which we have a lot of here in Florida.

Pros: Good sound. Seems to be high quality. Looks good. Easy to wire in.

Cons: Display hard to read in bright sunlight.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought the Pioneer DEP-150P radio from Crutchfield to replace a dying Chrysler Infiniti factory radio in my '96 Dodge Intrepid. I also purchased the cable adapter and the in dash panel mounting kit along with the radio. The deinstallation/installation instructions that Crutchfield provided were very accurate and quite helpful in extracting the original radio, wiring the adapter harness and installing the new radio. I also appreciated the screw cap wiring cap connectors supplied with the kit. That greatly sped up the wiring phase. My biggest problem was figuring out disconnect the cables from the old radio from the Dodge wiring harness. Turns out there are clips on the side of the cable receptacles on the old radio that have to pried open to release the cable plugs. The Cruchfields instructions don.t mention that it is necessary to bend up some metal tabs on the side of the new radio installation shroud to retain the radio to the new front mounting bezel (this is mentioned however in the Pioneer manual that accompanies the radio). The radio worked first time with no troubleshooting and integrates well with the Dodge Infiniti amplified speaker system. The audio sound is comparable to the factory radio but has a lot of features that the old radio did not have such the station ID display and remote control operation.

Pros: East of installation, low cost, feature set and high performance for the price.

Cons: Initial set up is a bit involved with different menus etc. The Pioneer manual supplied with radio has hard to read somewhat faint print . I recommend downloaded a copy of the pdf manual from the Pioneer web site and printing out the relevant pages and work from them.

This is a good little deck. I bought it to replace the stock player in my 2005 Honda Civic, because the cd player wasn't working anymore. I use a cd player simply to listen to audio books to/from work. This system is easy to use, although be forewarned if you have a Honda Civic, it's very time-consuming and labor-intensive to install this. It took me about 4 hours, because I removed the entire middle console. As far as the stereo and cd player goes- it does the job. The sound quality is great, and I like how it has a smooth volume knob as well.

Pros: -Volume knob -cd player -sound quality -remote

Cons: -display takes time to switch from one type to another

    Had potential, but...

Patrick from State Center, IA on 4/6/2014

Bought two of these for two different vehicles. I bought them for two reasons: I always had good experience with the tuners in Pioneer units, and the RMS power output has always seemed great. Well, the first unit just died (internal amp failure). Fair enough, every company has a dud once in a while. But then, the second unit failed in another car. The back speakers died... first the left, then the right in a haze of distortion. I tested the speakers... 4 ohms on both. Speakers were new, worked great in another car. Problem was the head unit. Replaced it with a JVC and everything worked great. Not sure what happened here. I used to go to Pioneer as a cheap but good replacement. Maybe they had a bad lot of electronics... Either way, two of them bad in a row was enough for me to move on to other brands.

Pros: Good sound quality and output while it lasted

Cons: Died after a few days

After years of trying to fix my factory radio, I finally decided I'd had enough. Having known of both Pioneer and Crutchfield since my college days, I felt I couldn't go wrong getting this unit. Plus , you offered the mounting adapter and wiring harness, so all I had to do was put it in! I'm still getting used to the nuances of the controls, but the unit is easy to set up and use. The sound is great, radio, CD or MP3 player. Pioneer has always been a quality brand to me and I was not disappointed with this receiver. It does everything it says it will and more. I especially like the "Artist" and "Title" feature on the radio and the Level meter on the CD. The clock is redundant but you don't have to display it. The Remote Control is a bit much, since the radio is easy to reach and operate in my Jeep. I don't really need it. Some might like it though. It took me a few days to get used to the submenus and where things are located in them, but once I learned where everything was, no problem! The unit looks as good as it sounds I've had several compliments on both. What more can I say: Pioneer and Crutchfield, great combination.

Pros: Easy to install. Good instructions to show how to operate the unit's many features. Excellent sound!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I gave it a 5 because for under $100 I got the stereo and all installation supplies. I have never done anything car audio related ever and it was easy to install. I have a Mazda MPV minivan. This stereo does what I want (mainly play mp3 discs and aux-in jack) and then some. I just have factory speakers and no sub but find the audio quality just fine. Music sounds way better than with whatever my minivan came with. I listen to a lot of books on tape and those sound fine too, plus I can adjust EQ and whatnot. My factory stereo was skipping and then refusing to eject discs plus I had no aux in (I actually bought some aftermarket hack and installed that a few years back but it always had this annoying feedback and the audio was so quiet it was worthless). I should have bought this stereo years ago! Also the Crutchfield people helped me get all the right installation parts. Everything I needed was included and even a few extra pieces (maybe choices on how to mount it?). The only think that does *not* work are the volume and track controls on my steering wheel but I already knew I'd need another adapter for that and now am used to using the controls on the unit. Also the little remote only works when pointed directly at the unit, I tried to velcro that to my steering wheel but it didn't work.

Pros: price, better sound quality and bass than the factory unit, aux-in jack, plays mp3/wma discs (sometimes easier for me to make a disc with 150 songs than cart around an mp3 player), plate comes off so no theft

Cons: none considering the price and how easy it was to install

I've never had a bad Pioneer product ever. Although this unit is low priced, it's definetely a Pioneer. Great sound, no difficult installation, very functional and has Pioneer's very well balanced EQ settings and built in amplifier options. This is a HUGE upgrade over the factory Ford deck. Especially with the AUX connector. The goal for me was simply to have a great sounding receiver with an AUX connector. This deck does this without an issue. I sincerely doubt the cd player will ever get used. My MP3 player happily plays along as does my tablet. This is a good bang for your buck radio, the sound is incredible for the price!

Pros: Great sound, looks good, controls are easy to use as is the remote. For the price, Pioneer did NOT skimp on audio quality! detachable faceplate is nice snug fit.

Cons: Unfortunately, there's nothing perfect... the one thing that is annoying is when you switch modes, say from tuner to AUX, the screen fizzles a graphics display, which takes about 1.5seconds to change to words. To me, this will get old. The built in dimmer gives 1 option, I wish it'd be user settable. When you press a radio preset to lock in a radio station it doesn't beep or give an easy to know indicator. These are small little gripes, but It's a "con".

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Factory radio in my twelve year old truck was losing functionality and it was time to replace, but I didn't want to spend big money for a receiver in an older high mileage truck used mostly for local hauling. Still, as long as I was going to make the change, I wanted a front panel AUX plug in for my iPod that was NOT available on my original factory system. Low cost and additional functionality led me to the Pioneer DEH-150MP from Crutchfield. With the free shipping I was able to also buy the wiring harness adapters and mounting brackets for a discount(strongly recommended) and stay under budget. Although I have never done a car radio/receiver removal and installation before, the Crutchfield written instructions and diagrams took me through it step by step. At one point I was confused about which mounting brackets to use (the kit provides multiple options) but a quick phone call to Crutchfield Customer Service (answered on the second ring) put me back on track. Total install time was about three hours, but I am known to be ponderously slow and always recheck everything. Everything worked perfectly the first time and I am pleased with the sound quality. CD player is great and the AUX input for my iPod is quite an improvement on the former system. The receiver controls have taken a while to get used to. But that will resolve with time and usage. For an under $100 car/truck receiver that is a great choice.

Pros: Installs and works just as advertised. The Crutchfield instructions were spot on. Great value for the money. Comes with a remote control for easier receiver operation.

Cons: Operating controls for receiver are not always intuitive. Many operations require multiple steps on a decision tree - requiring the operator to visually pay attention - not a great thing when driving a car on the highway. Takes a while to get the front/rear and left /right fader balance just right. Factory default seems to favor the rear speakers just a bit.

great value with nice power and sound + MP3 player!

This is a terrific unit, great sound quality, but I'm even more impressed with the way the folks at Crutchfield put this package together. I'm not a particularly handy guy, but I can work a screwdriver and a socket wrench, and that's all I needed to do this installation. Instead of paying the $70 my local shop wanted to install it, I followed the Crutchfield directions and it was remarkably simple. When I had one question about the wiring, all it took was a quick phone call and the guy on the other end understood exactly what my question was, told me the answer and I had this unit installed playing CDs within 90 minutes. Just a terrific experience, a great stereo unit and a very happy customer. Thanks, Crutchfield.

The app that assures this unit will fit in your vehicle is not accurate. I have a 1988 Toyota Corolla FX hatchback, and Crutchfield led me to believe it would fit. Not so. The unit is too deep to mount in the normal fashion, and I had to cut the dashboard bezel to accomodate additional width. Also, some of the functions of this unit are clunky and the ergonomics are faulty, at best. Tiny buttons that cause you to take your eyes off the road for too long to avoid pressing the wrong one. The remote is handy in circumventing the poor ergonomics, though. Still, not a bad deal for the price, but not exactly a five star worthy unit.

    1995 Dodge Ram 2500
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Crutchfield Customer Advisor Mari, helped me choose the Pioneer DEH-150MP ($69.99) to replace dead radio in husband's noisy turbo-diesel 1995 Dodge Ram 2500 truck. I also purchased the installation kit for an extra $15.00.. Husband listens to Public Media KQED radio and the classical music station KDFC. The old radio couldn't capture KDFC consistently. The old radio also produced a "muddy" sound, requiring high volume in order to understand vocal broadcasts (Terry Gross interviews, Ira Flato's Science Friday, Michael Krasny, etc.). Husband is totally pleased with the clarity of sound now being produced by the truck's old speakers. Neither of us enjoys DYI car projects or ploughing through a "how to" manual, so we paid $89 for a local audio specialist (with lots of positive YELP customer reviews) to install it. This brought the total cost of a new receiver to $173.99 , and it was worth every penny. The audio installation tech spent additional time setting the clock and the stations and instructing my husband on how to use all the features of his new receiver, telling my husband he could return anytime for additional help on how to use his receiver (no extra charge). Considering the hours and hours of enjoyable listening, this receiver fit the bill of "best birthday gift" this year. Thanks to Crutchfield's very helpful customer advisor, Marie, I will return to Crutchfield for other products I may need/want.

Pros: Very good value for money. Even with old speakers, great improvement in clarity of sound. Truck is parked during day in "dicey" neighborhood, which is why I didn't spend a lot more money on a more expensive receiver with more features.

Cons: No complaints thus far. Can't say anything about ease of installation and ease of use because we had a pro install it and teach us how to use it. It was worth $89 to us to drop the truck off for about an hour during which we had a nice relaxing lunch at a nearby restaurant) and return to have it ready to use, with personal instructions on how to use it. I don't know what "coolness factor" means in a car receiver....probably a guy thing. All I wanted was to be able to see the characters clearly

If you want a really bright fed face, this one is for you. Even with the dimmer on, the face is really bright. Really bright red!! Dimmer on/off barely does anything. Annoying at night to me The menu is a hassle. The equalizer is a chore to get to and a pain use. The wiring harnes could be a little longer. Once you get it dialed in it sounds so so.

    Pros: Sounds good for price.

Cons: Even with the dimmer on, the face is to bright. Really bright red!! The menu is a hassle. The equalizer is a chore to get to and a pain use. The wiring harnes could be a little longer.

The buttons are just so small it gets hard to navigate through songs when driving. If there were a search feature on the tuner it would be perfect! With constantly traveling I can't set the same channels to use. I need the search. Perfect for my 1994 head unit replacement.

Cons: Small buttons, No search button

If you are looking for a solid replacement, this is the one! It seems that modern technology has progressed enough to where 'budget' doesn't apply to 'cheap'. Within 15 minutes, I had this bad boy up and running in my Volvo 240 wagon. After my used Kenwood receiver died, I waited two months and then got this unit. It's better than the Kenwood! You are in for a great :)

Pros: EXCELLENT sound quality Mp3 disc support Aux in (perfect for an iPhone) Easy breezy setup Nice n big Great build quality!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My Alpine unit went bust after a cross country jaunt. I went 5 months without an audio system. Since the car is old, I decided to replace using a cheap. The Pioneer DEH 150MP was suitable for that. I would not recommend this unit if your looking for quality sound and controls, only for the budget conscious and those looking for a temporary fix.

Pros: Cheap, listenable sound, easy install.

Cons: Poor volume on CDs and Radio. Have to crank it really high then sound quality suffers (If you like to crank your tunes). Static on many FM stations that was not present with my Alpine. No scan function for radio. Bright red LED display that does not dim. You can only dim the clock/station/CD track display.

So you want to buy a Radio, eh?

Dee J from Ebensburg, PA on 12/22/2012

Absolutely one of the BEST purchases I have ever made... This product is a winner from all views! It was easy to install and pretty simple to get up and running. VALUE: Absolutely worth every penny spent on it. I hate complex double-din dvd touch screen whatever crap people are into... I stick with old school, clean looking single din and this radio, it's clarity, style, and features are all paid-forward and believe me the price is RIGHT. SOUND QUALITY: The sound quality is AMAZING and I have two 12" Visonik Subwoofers and a 500W Amplifier delivering 200 watts per subwoofer (400w total). At first I was getting door rattle from the bass this little unit puts out, and massive bass from the woofers. I turned on the High Pass Filter and viola, all the bass from the woofer without the crap bass blowing out my speakers. Lows from the subs, mids and highs from the speaker, all as they should be, clear, and beautiful! EASE OF USE: I had a little trouble getting used to how the menu worked, enough for four stars, but I might be being overzealous here as any new radio takes getting used to. COOLNESS FACTOR: This radio looks GREAT! Whoever said it has "small buttons", well, they're "Comfortable Small" not inconveinent. Also I noted someone else talked about how bright it is, the light seems fine to me, then again I run red neons and access lights in my black and red cavy so I probably don't notice. BUILD QUALITY: The design is great, button layouts are desirable, and it's super sturdy.

Pros: Price is Right, Looks great Day or Night, Sound clarity is AMAZING, easy to install, Allows filtering out Highs/Mids from subs, and lows from standard speakers

Cons: Didn't come with any Grey Poupon... (Google it)

Perfect with everything that I needed to install

Don't buy this if it will sit high on your dash. It has very bright red lighting and the dimmer function is laughable. I'm not sure what they were thinking. A black sharpie helped some.

Cons: Unsafe for most night time automotive use.

Cons: The plastic installation kit seemed a little flimsy, but actually worked out well once it was all in place.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Okay, it is an inexpensive radio that covers the basics very, very well. Installation was very ease (about an hour for a semi-literate guy). Fits securely, perfectly in the 1994 Ford Ranger dash. No real complaints about the unit, it is what it is and does it very well for the money. It does not try to be an upper end unit at a cheap price. So if you are looking for a solid basic unit without a lot bells and whistles, this is it.

Pros: Value Ease of installation Functions for the money

Cons: No scan function for radio stations. Just manual. Wished the dimmer had multi levels of displays instead of simple on and off.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a truly fantastic radio. After the twenty-one year radio finally died, this replacement matches the interior color (added bonus) and sounds great. It has a full sound with little to no distortion at high volumes. Aesthetically, the radio is uncluttered with a fairly usable interface. The buttons have a nice feel to them and the knob has a good thickness to it. My only complaint is that the dimmer for the lights isn't really that dim, but that's a minor detail. This radio has some silly little animations between the main menu and when switching the source. Thankfully, they don't really get in the way if you're in a hurry, but it's worth noting. It comes with a remote, which, in my opinion, is pretty useless. However, it does have a mute function not available on the receiver. On a different note, as my first experience with Crutchfield, I thank them for the nearly endless amount of useful information given with this package. They didn't just throw me a bunch of wires and say, "Go." Crutchfield is very user-friendly.

Pros: User-friendly, Good sound quality, Uncluttered and clean looking, Build quality is nice

Cons: Only the remote has a mute function, Dimmer isn't really that dim.

    Disc Playback

Disc Compatibility: The Pioneer DEH-150MP supports audio playback of CD-Audio, CD-TEXT, CD-R, and CD-RW discs.

MP3/WMA/WAV Playback: This unit can play MP3, WMA and WAV files recorded on CD-R and CD-RW discs in ISO9660 Level 1/Level 2, Joliet, and Romeo formats. MP3 files with a bit rate from 8-320 kbps, WMA files with a constant bit rate from 48-320 kbps, and WMA files with a variable bit rate from 48-384 kbps are supported. The unit also supports 8/16-bit WAV files. The unit is compatible with ID3 Tags and will display artist, folder, file, and album name, plus comments. Up to 8 directories, 99 folders and 999 files per disc are recognized by this unit.

File/Track Name List: The Name List feature displays a list of MP3/WMA folders and tracks on a loaded CD, so you can easily access your music. The Name List will also display the list of track titles on a CD Text disc.

Off Insert/Eject: A CD disc can be inserted or ejected with the power off. When a disc is inserted with the power off, the unit will automatically power up and begin playback.

Auto Off Eject: When you eject a disc, the unit will automatically power off (unless you switch sources before ejecting the disc).

Installation Angle: Optimum CD playback performance is obtained when the unit is installed at an angle of less than 60-degrees.

    Radio Functions

Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.

BSM (Best Stations Memory): The BSM (Best Stations Memory) function lets you automatically store the six strongest stations under preset buttons 1-6 of the currently tuned band. The tuner has 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can store 6 presets for each bank giving you a total of 18 FM presets and 6 AM presets.

Local Tuning: Local seek tuning lets you tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for good reception. There are 4 levels of sensitivity for FM and two levels for AM. The higher settings allow reception of only the strongest stations, while lower settings let you receive progressively weaker stations.

RDS: The Radio Data System (RDS) feature displays radio broadcast information such as artist, title, and album when listening to compatible AM/FM stations.

    Aux Connection

Auxiliary Input: The DEH-150MP is equipped with a front panel 3.5mm stereo minijack auxiliary input for connecting external components, such as a portable digital audio player.

    Audio Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The Pioneer in-dash head unit utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The DEH-150MP is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power specifications for the DEH-150MP are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers.

    • CEA2006 Specs: 14 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Continuous Power Output: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 50Hz-15kHz, 5% THD)
    • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels

Advanced Sound Retriever: The Advanced Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. Hear the detail, warmth, and clarity, the way the artist intended it, from all of your highly compressed MP3 and WMA files. By restoring data (especially higher frequencies) that tends to get lost in the digital compression process, Pioneer's Advanced Sound Retriever technology enhances audio reproduction nearly all the way up to 20 kHz frequencies

Equalizer: The Pioneer DEH-150MP features a Preset & Custom EQ. The built-in equalizer offers 7 preset sound modes (Powerful, Dynamic, Vocal, Natural, Custom 1, Custom 2, and Flat) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The two Custom modes allow you to manually adjust the head unit's 5-band EQ (80Hz, 250Hz, 800Hz, 2.5kHz, 8kHz) from +/-6dB. Custom 1 can be set separately for each source; while Custom 2 and the other 5 presets are shared settings used for all sources.

Bass Boost The DEH-150MP features a bass boost function which can be used to enhance low-frequency bass sound. The bass boost function can be set between 0-6.

Loudness: The Loudness feature compensates for deficiencies in the low and high sound ranges at low volume. You can set the Loudness feature to Low, Mid, High, or Off.

Source Level Adjustment (SLA):This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM tuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4dB to +4dB.

2.0-Volt Preamp Outputs: The Pioneer DEH-150MP features one pair of 2.0-volt preamp outputs. The unit's preamp outputs can be configured as fading rear-channel outputs or non-fading subwoofer outputs with a low-pass filter, phase adjustment, and output level control.

Subwoofer Control: When the head unit's preamp output is configured as a subwoofer output, you can select the frequency of the low pass filter (50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, or 125 Hz), select the filter slope (-6/-12dB), select the subwoofer phase (normal/reverse), and the subwoofer gain (+6 to -24).

High-Pass Crossover: When you don't want low-frequency sound to be heard through your front or rear speakers, you can simply active the head unit's HPF (high pass filter). By activating the HPF, only frequencies higher than those in the selected range are output from the front or rear speakers. The high pass filter crossover can be set to 50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 125Hz, 160hz, 200Hz or Off. The slope level of the HPF can also be adjusted to -6dB or 12dB.

Switchable Rear Channel/Subwoofer Speaker Output: The rear speaker outputs can be set to provide full range output with full fading capability, or they can be set to provide non-fading subwoofer (low-pass) output. When the rear speaker outputs are set to subwoofer mode, the rear preamp outputs also switch from full range to subwoofer outputs. When set for subwoofer operation, you can connect the rear speaker leads directly to two small 4-ohm passive subwoofers or a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils. If you prefer to use a single 2-ohm subwoofer, you can connect the woofer to one set of speaker leads, leaving the other set of rear leads disconnected. The maximum output provided when a 2-ohm load is connected to one set of leads is 70 watts.

    Display Features

Detachable Face Security: This unit features detachable face security. No face case is included with this unit. An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can be purchased for this unit.

LCD w/ LED Backlight: The DEH-150MP features a black background with a one-line, 12-character white LCD with LED backlight.

Display Illumination/Clock Display: When the Clock Display has been turned on, pressing and holding the "SRC" button turns off audio output, but the clock display and button illumination remains on (you can press the "DISP" button to turn off). When the Clock Display has been turned off, pressing and holding the "SRC" button turns the unit off completely. Even if you have turned the radio completely off you can view the clock display by pressing the "DISP" button. The clock will then remain On until you turn it back Off. When the unit is On, you can select between the clock display or the audio track/tuner display.

    Remote Control

Remote Control: The DEH-150MP comes with an IR wireless remote control. The remote allows you to control the volume, switch between sources, pause the CD, change the display, and adjust the audio. You can also mute the volume (function that cannot be performed from the front panel).

Yes, but you can turn it off as well. The display button just right to the volume knob lets you switch between clock, frequency, cd track/time, etc.[ Jason  Jan 19, 2016 ]
Yes, as long as the ignition key is on.[ Delwyn  Jan 19, 2016 ]
Chris,I didn't use subwoofers with my unit, but the head unit does have a driver for them. Check the instructions for the correct wire. I think I would use the factory wiring for the power supply though, just to be sure you have enough power going to your amp. Hope this helps you out.[ MICHAEL  Dec 29, 2015 ]
I had to "YOU TUBE" "How to set time on DEH-150MP". It shows you exactly how to set the time. Easier for me to have you watch the video than try to do a step by step.[ LOUISE M  Dec 23, 2015 ]

Just to clarify one thing, you are looking for a power INVERTER, not a power CONVERTER. That is a common mistake and people often use them interchangeably and they are not. DC power us much more stable and safer than AC current that is why it almost became the standard here in the US, but AC power eventually won and we have TESLA to thank for that who beat out EDISON who was backing DC power. Ironically, Edison gets the credit for AC power these days and Tesla, the car company builds cars that run on DC batteries. History is full of irony.[ GORDON  May 08, 2015 ]
We don't typically recommend using gear designed for the car environment in your home. However, if you wanted to connect this up - you would need an AC to DC conversion unit (for power). There are several discussions of this type of set-up in our forums:http://community.crutchfield.com/search/default.aspx#q=car+stereo+in+house [ Jeff  May 01, 2015 ]  Staff

Yes, it is a single DIN head unit. Crutchfield probably has a mount to fill the extra space if you want to go with it. Jimmy[ JIMMY  Jun 24, 2014 ]
Garrett, I installed this unit in the factory location of the cassette player in a 1988 GMC pickup. The DEH-150MP was slightly longer than the previous older pioneer unit. About a 1/4" more depth was needed for this unit.[ SHAWN A  Jun 23, 2014 ]

you would probably want to put an amp in for your sub. i think it can probably be done, but it would probably pull too much power from the HU or just wouldnt sound good. a decent 150$ amp would be the way to go for the sub.[ SHAWN  May 16, 2014 ]
I wouldn't bridge the rear channel, as it would put too much strain on the stereo's amp and cause burnout. Might I suggest buying a pair of component woofers for the back and installing high frequency blockers inline for each speaker.[ CHRISTOPHER  May 11, 2014 ]

I no longer own this stereo (sold the car) but I remember that it was a quality unit with a bright vivid display. It was mounted low at a weird angle and it was still very easy to read. For the price it is a great entry level unit with a lot of useable features. I would recommend it . Thanks Brian[ BRIAN K  Dec 05, 2013 ]
