Optimized for your digital music library
You'll be in command of your iPod® when you plug into the high-speed front USB input. Once connected, the receiver bypasses your iPod's digital-to-analog converter, using its high-quality DAC to deliver your music files with improved fidelity. You can also listen to your MP3, WMA, and AAC files burned to disc, so put together some party mixes for those epic road trips. Got a portable satellite radio or gaming device? You can connect almost any audio source to the front auxiliary input.

You'll tweak the sound to your taste with the Easy EQ 5-band graphic equalizer and 6-level bass boost. Pioneer's Advanced Sound Retriever expands high-frequency data lost when you created your digital files, so all your stored music files will sparkle.

Enjoy streaming music?
This receiver can play songs from the Pandora music service through your iPhone®. Whenever you have Internet access, just plug your iPhone into the USB input, and you'll enjoy total control over Pandora, including displays of artist, album, and song information on the receiver's screen.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?
In most vehicles, you can use an adapter to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Pioneer stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the Pioneer, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.

Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this product for a work truck of mine wanting something nice without breaking the bank, yet easy to use. I was gonna go with the cheaper model of Pioneer, but for a few extra $ I thought I would give the Pandoralink a try, not to mention having a couple more preset EQ configurations. The Pandoralink works great, although you can't use your iPhone while using it, I would think they could solve that? One thing I've always had a hard time with is that they only have 2.2 Pre-Amp voltage. IF you have subwoofers, 4 amps sounds much better with a Kenwood. Only a couple higher end units have this. Couldn't be that much harder to do? Although, I've found that with stock speakers they sound just fine. Another thing is the clock. You either have to have a clock, or your audio/tuner display. It does have a multiple line display, why can't there be both? The rocker button is a different story. Almost everyone complains about the rocker/volume button. It IS kind of a pain to get used to. I've had 2 Pioneers that are this way, it is tolerable, but room for improvement. One reviewer said that if you place your thumb on top and your forefinger on the right side of the button, it works better. It does in fact give better results. I have had it for a couple months now and have gotten somewhat used to it. Otherwise, it's a great unit with lots of nice features. Would recommend to someone who has a limited bank account, but yet still wants something sleek looking with good sound.

Pros: Colors Build quality Pandoralink Easy to use

Cons: Rocker button isn't easy, but can be gotten used to it. Can't have clock on audio/tuner screen like you can with other unit brands. Only 2.2 Volts of Pre-amp voltage. Pioneer should step it up to 4-5.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This radio is AWESOME. The RDS feature displays the station info, Song info, and the artist or group. The color of the display is totally customizable. The FM and CD sound is clear and crisp. The instructions and install kit were a breeze. The FM reception is better than the factory radio. If I ever get rid of my car, the factory radio is going back in and I'm keeping this one.! BE SURE TO CONNECT THE Blue POWER ANTENNA wire,or no AM on my 06 Tuscon. I found the "no AM" fix here in the reviews. Awesome radio!

Pros: The RDS feature displays the station info, Song info, and the artist. The color of the display is totally customizable. The FM and CD sound is clear and crisp. The instructions and install kit were a breeze. The FM reception is great, as always it's best with a Pioneer Supertuner!

Cons: AM reception was almost non existant... if you don't hook up the blue "power antenna wire". Now it works fine and I had to upgrade my review to 5 stars all the way! That wire is for an antenna booster that tunes the AM stations to the little factory "ducky" antenna on my 2006 Tuscon.

Good stereo, but could be better

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was initially exciting about the customization color options, but was disappointed when I learned there wasn't any support for auto-dimming the display at night (when the headlights are on). The interface is powerful, but only really usable if you read the manual a few times, and explore...which is hard to do while driving, making casual use of the iPhone or Pandora functionality of this stereo difficult. I'm satisfied enough with it, especially for the price, but feel like with a little more work on usability, it could be a lot better.

Pros: 1. USB port supports playing music from thumb drives, iPod music library, and Pandora (using the iPhone app). 2. Will charge an iPhone even if I'm listening to the radio or a CD. 3. Colors are very customizable...I could almost exactly match the deep blue LCD/dash lighting and red buttons of my Passat.

Cons: 1. No auto-dimming support when headlights are turned on. It would be great if I could have two sets of color presents, day vs. night, and switch between them based on whether the headlights are on or not. 2. Steep learning curve, especially for iPhone browsing, or finding the fade/balance controls (which should be easy, not buried in an "Audio" menu).

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I highly recommend this stereo! I Went from a crappy factory stereo in my 2011 Toyota Tacoma to this wonderful piece of hardware. Plenty of crank without an amp. And not much distortion at high volumes. My original stereo you couldn't hear it at highway speeds with the windows down. Not anymore. This Pioneer cranks out the tunes at many levels. Next upgrade will be better speakers. Crutchfield is the way to buy. This was my first stereo DIY install & it was super easy with what Crutchfield supplies. Plus free tech support will have your back. I've had this stereo for six months & believe I picked the right one. Still happy with my choice!

Pros: The USB port for playing music from a flash drive, Able to change the display colors, A port on the front to plug an mp3 or ipod, removable faceplate, Remote control, & Great sound quality.

Cons: Operating manual needs a rewrite.

Great system, especially for the price. Only reason it didn't get 5* is because the "Main Control" a pushable dial can be a little difficult to push in the center to select, especially while driving. It's still new to me, though, so perhaps it will get easier as I get a better feel for it. There are still things I'm working on figuring out. (Why read instructions?) :-)

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For a receiver that is so inexpensive, it is amazing. The sound quality on it sound so much better than my previous $400 dvd receiver (jensen brand). The color illumination really makes it unique and the ipod hook up is great (you just need the ipod usb cable to hook up and thats it.) For anyone who is looking to buy something not too inexpensive, its worth the money and will do as good or even better than some $200 - $400 receiver out there. I would definitely recommend Pioneer above all else. My car is a 2002 Toyota Celica GTS. I'm planning to upgrade the speakers and eventually put in subs. Hope this helps your purchasing decision because I can understand how difficult it could be to choose something for your car...

This was my first purchase from Crutchfield and my first aftermarket stereo. I haven't had any issues with this product and really enjoy it. It is definitely an upgrade over the stock one. Installation was made extremely easy with the extras that Crutchfield provided. I am completely satisfied.

    Great Radio

ClayP from New Mexico on 8/26/2011

Have had the radio in my 03 Tacoma for 1 week now, and as others have said i'm still learning the buttons and combinations thereof to get to certain functions. Kind of a pain as you have to navigate a lot of steps with a finiky (sp?) knob to get to something that should be simple (like Fade/Balance). I still have one issue to figure out...just yesterday I hooked up my iPod for the first time (4G Nano) and now I'm getting a "pop" sound coming from the right front speaker any time I press a button on the headunit, except for volume control...checked my wiring all is good. Strange it just started happening when I plugged iPod in and now does it even if iPod isnt connected. Will be giving Crutchfield Customer Service a call this evening about it. Two thumbs up overall, however you have to willing to spend time getting to know the unit!

I got the stereo for my daughter's 16th birthday. The installation instructions were good, and the hotline guys were very helpful. It took us ~1.5 hrs from start to finish. Would highly recommend using the shrink tubing to cover the soldered wires. My daughter loves the final outcome--the stereo sounds great and it makes driving the old family minivan "cool".

    Bad Reviewers Don't Read Instructions

    MattC from KY on 8/13/2011

I bought this unit to replace a Sony that was stolen out of my vehicle. I must say I almost don't regret the other one being stolen as this one is SO much better! There's hundred's of color combos for the illuminations and lots of adjustments for tuning your sound preferences. You can set the unit so that you are search for what you want played directly from the iPod/iPhone or search from the unit. Someone said they couldn't use their phone while it was plugged in. NOT TRUE! You set the unit for iPod control and then you can do whatever you want. Sitting in the parking lot at work one night I was playing one of my first person shooters with the sound playing through the speakers of my Jeep! How cool is that? My only gripe is that when in iPod control you can't change any of the EQ settings, or atleast I haven't figured out how to yet. I see lots of gripes about the control knob. I don't use it. It is MUCH easier to do all the EQ changes from the remote. You press AUDIO and it goes back to the last thing you was adjusting, then press ESC and you're back to your music. I'm planning to buy a second one to put in my toy, older muscle car, in which I had planned to throw one of my old Pioneer units in but I like this one so much I think I'm going to buy another! Again everything is easy to use once you get used to it. Just gotta give it a chance before you go writing your reviews. I've had it in for a couple months now and just now writing mine!

    Tip on the Tricky Knob

TomH from Acton MA on 8/9/2011

    2000 Volkswagen Passat
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First, the knob; it tips left and right, and up and down as part of the navigation. But when you want to push it directly in, it's tricky; right? TIP: Press the button with your thumb while you sort of cradle it with the second joint of your index finger. It ensures that the button doesn't move to the side or up and down. It's easy once you figure that out. (Index finger pointing left, if you're right handed.) I had NO AM radio the first week until I called the Crutchfield support team and connected the "extra" wire which is marked "power antenna" to the harness. Easy enough but I did have to remove the radio (not easy enough!). I'm very happy with the sound through my iPod, not so happy that the iPod isn't supported (an older model) so I'm running it through the AUX. But the sound is excellent. The FM radio reception is ALMOST as good as my 2000 Passat Monsoon system. The Key and LCD are VERY handy (Illumination option). It gives me a good match for the blue and red of the Passat. And you can control the intensity. I took me a while to figure that out. My free advice with instruction manuals, read them over coffee or in the John, NOT when you're trying to do something. It's fun to read how things work, when you're not trying to accomplish something and you'll get the hang of the unit that way. It CAN be AGGRAVATING when you're sitting front of the unit intently trying to divine the meaning of the writer! :) Thanks to the Crutchfield team for being very helpful!

Awesome stereo! I replaced the stock stereo in my '05 Dodge Ram with this, and I absolutely love it. It's just more of the great quality we've all come to expect from Pioneer. The controls are a little odd at first, but what new deck isn't? The aux and USB inputs are great, and were a deciding factor in my decision to purchase this stereo. Also, the light color customization is a pretty cool feature. Buy it. Now.

I have always liked Pioneer So I am a little biased. I like the unit very much great sound nice install and fair operating controls. However it is geared around the Ipod/apple product line too much. I know apple is very popular but there are a few of us that do not own apple products. So over all great product but if you don't own an apple mp3 player you only get to use about 80% of the units features.

Not a lot to say here. It is what it is. A decent car stereo at a reasonable price. The user interface (buttons) are rather strange and don't make a lot of sense but do function well once you get past the learning curve. The manual is thorough but seems to have been randomly put together with you having to search to find what button does what. Also, the font size in the manual makes this 40+ guy need his glasses to read it. If you are in to the color thing then this unit will please. If you can't find your favorite color combo in this unit then you won't find it anywhere. There are quite a few customization options available and the built in EQ is nice. I have been a Pioneer fan all my life which lead me to this purchase. I am happy with the deck for the money I spent. Plus Crutchfield had this thing to my house in 3 days. Good on ya Crutchfield.

Romer from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho on 5/27/2011

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a decent unit that provides good sound, audio controls, and a decent amount of power. The USB and Aux inputs are nice to have and the remote is nice to have handy too. My only gripe is that when you use your iPhone to play music from the iPod library or PandoraLink, you lose your iPhone. If you're sitting in your car, waiting in a parking lot or something and want to check your Facebook, email, texts, etc., you have to unplug the phone so the you get rid of the Pioneer "sync" screen. So there's no music from your iPhone while you're browsing other areas of your iPhone. If you need to make or take a call, you have the music has to be stopped. Also, if you're using Pandora, once the phone call is over, you have to restart the application. It's not a huge deal, but it would be nice if you the application would auto-restart once the call ends. If you use a dedicated iPod with it, you lose the Pandora functionality with it, but can still use your iPhone. That's if you have both.

    Don't Like it at ALL

cassiero from St. Petersburg, FL on 5/25/2011

I just bought this stereo and I already can't stand it; having it taken out today. To get through the menu you have to use the round rocker knob that easily switches to another function if you don't tap it just right; and maybe I'm just not tech savvy enough, but I prefer simple bass and treble adjustments, not having to figure it out by Hz. I suppose if all you're concerned with is using an ipod with it, then it's decent; but, overall, I don't think it's user friendly whatsoever.

I was looking for a new unit to replace my factory model, and this one is awesome. If you have an iPhone/iPod and you use Pandora, this is definitely worth the extra money to get everything included right in one package. If you have never installed a stereo before, heads up - you will need the wire harness and crimping tools because some minor wiring work is required. I'd also recommend buying from Crutchfield because they will help you every step of the way. I'd really recommend it!

I bought this Pioneer to replace a factory radio in my 2003 ford ranger edge and i gotta say it was a great choice. The hook up was easy and fast and this radio was a step down from the pioneer DEH-8300 i was going to originally get, but i think it was a better choice. The controls on the radio itself are a little difficult to get use to but once you know your way around its simple and the remote that comes with it makes it a breeze to quickly switch back and forth from my ipod to CD or to the radio. This radio also has a load of equalizer choices so you can fine tune how you want your music to sound. If your looking for a new radio this is one to definitley look into.

I bought this hu to replace my factory hu in my srt-4 and it is outstanding. Cruthfields installation gear that came free with it worked great on the install and it looks very clean and natural in my car. Like some have said the controls are not the easiest to figure out. After 3 weeks of owning it I still haven't fully gotten the hang of the controls on the hu but with the remote it only took me about an hour or less of playing around with it to figure out all the options. I really love this hu and all the options it has. My new ipod nano connects with np and it runs/controls my 2 12" subs beautifully. All in all excellent hu for the price and features just make sure you keep the remote handy until you fully get a hang of the features on the hu. I would definitely recommend this unit to friends

Great radio. I bought it for the iPod connection and it really works well. When it is connected with the Pioneer iPod adapter cord it is impossible to use an iPhone for anythig else, calls still come in but no outgoing calls or access to any maps or apps. It takes a while to figure out how to access the radio and all of the options and even to set the color on the displays. It is pretty complicated. I read the instructions and still had a hard time. Even with all of those issues it still sounds really good.

I've had several Pioneer decks over the years, and they have always been durable and had a good sound. So far, this deck is just as I expected; good features and good sound. It integrates nicely with my iPhone 4, and the Pandora link is great. One hint for iPhone users: it's best to plug the phone in, and let the deck find it before you start 'doing stuff', like picking songs and starting up the Pandora app. If you don't wait for it, you'll get the dreaded "Error 19". I do wish that the deck would dim with the car's interior lights, but I guess that Pioneer has gone away from that feature.

I love this stereo. I got Pioneer since it can read just about any disk format. I was afraid the iPOD controls would be hard to deal with but it's really very straightforward. (You can't use the iPhone iPOD controls while attached so at first I was finding what I wanted on the device before plugging it into the USB port.) I also thought at least one of my speakers was bad, but they sound great now - so much better than with my factory stereo - so I might let my daughter upgrade the speakers when I give her the car in a couple of years. I'm planning to leave my iPOD in the car, instead of my iPhone, so I can have the whole family's music available. I might have gotten the next model down - without Pandora - since I have a 200MB data plan, but my husband's plan is unlimited, so maybe we'll use Pandora when he's in the car....

Overall, a great radio, good sound with a lot of adjustments available, almost all of which (except volume) are practically impossible to make while driving though. First it refused to connect to my iPhone4 (with the latest iOS, 4.2, or whatever that is) whatsoever. Error 19 and that's all I could get from it. Then I connected my daughter's iPod Nano and it worked. Only with that iPod connected I was able to switch the iPod control mode to iPod and only then the system could take the sound from my iPhone apps like Navigon and TuneIn Radio, but it and Pandora still can't find a common language! The radio keeps saying "start application" when it has already started and Pandora says something about its unhappiness with the accessory. I don't care much about Pandora, because I got this radio instead of the next one down (without Pandora), because with the installation kit and adapter it cost me less than that other one would (Crutchfield wouldn't give me them for free with that one), but that's kind of lame that one of the main features either doesn't work at all or is really hard to make work.

Awesome head unit. It's amazing how much this unit made my stock system sound a million times better. Also, a wide selection of colors for illumination, so it matches any car's interior perfectly. Only problem I have with it is the menu navigation is a bit tricky. But I hear all Pioneers are kind of like that. But don't let that sway you away, this has excellent quality, and great functionality. Crutchfield's awesome customer service only added to the experience. Thanks again!

I bought this stereo for my daughter who is big on iPod and Pandora. She loves the iPod controls, just like I told her she would (I had a Pioneer in my last car, and I can confirm that it has the closest thing to iPod control logic that an iPod has!)! She is a busy girl, though, and hasn't read the little manual yet. She tried an intuitive connection with the Pandora thing and it didn't work. I need to slow her down and get her hooked up there! This is probably the 6th or 8th car stereo that I have bought from Crutchfield over the years. They have always been there for me, and I will pay more than a competitor's price to be able to buy the same product from Crutchfield! But so far, that hasn't happened!

    look at other units.

This unit sounds great. But it is very complicated to use. When my sons are in the back seat, adjusting the fade is tedious and distracting. All of the adjustments take many steps and are tedious. The multipurpose knob rotates and tilts and is difficult to use. Other than volume control, I no longer make any adjustments while driving because it is too distracting. There are other units at this price that are much easier to use. I am very unhappy with this unit, and I would not buy this unit again.

This headunit is one of a kind. It preforms fantastically, takes a little getting used to the controls, but once figured out it is amazing. Great improvement in SQ through the USB port and i just love it overall. Tons of beautiful color customizations and easy install if you are somewhat handy. Crutchfield made it twice as good by 2 day free shipping and it came in pristine condition. They also helped a ton on the install by just walking me through it so I knew everything i was doing was right. 5 stars no doubt

I installed the Pioneer DEH-6300UB in our 2006 Ford 500. Installation was easy as I replaced a Clarion CD receiver. Pioneer has much better radio reception. I really like the variable color display that matches the Ford green. Navigation of MP3 CD's and Thumb drives is very easy. The 7-Way Rotary Commander Knob is too large and awkward to manipulate. Advanced Sound Retriever does add depth to the music from MP3's. I used the original equipment Ford speakers and the power output is more than I need. People, who love playing with setting will like all the menus with so many options to set, I do not really use any of them.

Decent Radio. I bought it specifically for the ipod/pandora functionality which works fine. It has a slight learning curve to figure out how to use it but after that it works fine. The only downside is finding the enter button the joystick when you are trying to text, drive, and change lanes all at once. It's easier to use the remote or wait until you are at a red light. My favorite feature is the ability to change the backlight for the keys and lcd. I don't want my aftermarket radio to look tacky in my car. I was able to make it match the color of my speedometer/center console/climate control lighting which makes it blend in very well. Not a bad mid level head unit.

    Display Features

Detachable Face Security: This unit features Detachable Face Security. A face-fixing screw is supplied for making the face non-detachable, if desired.

Note: No face case is included with this unit. An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can be purchased for this unit.

Multiple-Color Illumination: This unit is equipped with multiple-color illumination for its front-panel display and backlit buttons. You can select from 30 preset colors (White to Rose), cycle through all preset colors (Scan), or customize an illumination color (by adjusting Red, Blue, and Green brightness levels). You can set the head unit's display illumination and button illumination to separate colors.

Level Meter: The Pioneer DEH-6300UB features a level meter display with 4 mode settings.

Ever Scroll: When the Ever Scroll feature is set to On, recorded text information scrolls continuously on the display. It will auto-scroll up to 64 characters. Set this feature to Off if you prefer the information to scroll only once.

Display Illumination/Clock Display: When the Clock Display has been turned on, pressing and holding the Source button turns off audio output, but the clock display remains on. When the Clock Display has been turned off, pressing and holding the source button turns the unit off completely. Even if you have turned the radio completely off you can view the clock display by pressing the clock button. The clock will then remain On until you turn it back Off. When the unit is On you can select between the clock display or the audio track/tuner display.

    Audio Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The Pioneer in-dash head unit utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior CD sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The DEH-6300UB is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit.

CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the DEH-6300UB are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers. The power output specs for the DEH-6300UB are as follows:

    • CEA2006 Specs: 14 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Continuous Power Output: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 50Hz-15kHz, 5% THD)
    • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels (or 50 watts x 2 channels at 4 ohms + 70 watts x 1 channel at 2 ohms for subwoofer)

7-Way Rotary Commander: The Pioneer DEH-6300UB features a 7-Way Rotary Commander for easy control. You can scroll through your music and audio settings with greater ease using the 7-way rotary commander.

Advanced Sound Retriever: The Advanced Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. When Advanced Sound Retriever is on, the high frequency range is compensated to match the frequency response curve to the original sound. There are two available levels of the Advanced Sound Retriever effect.

Preset EQ: The Pioneer DEH-6300UB is equipped with seven EQ presets. You can choose from Powerful, Natural, Vocal, Super Bass, Flat, Custom 1, or Custom 2.

Graphic EQ: The DEH-6300UB's two Custom EQ modes (1 & 2) let you adjust the head unit's 5-band graphic EQ (100Hz, 315Hz, 1.25kHz, 3.15kHz, & 8kHz). You can adjust each band between +6 to -6.

Bass Booster: The Bass Boost function raises the level of sounds lower than 100Hz. You can select a desired level of bass boost between 0 and 6 (Gain: 0dB to +12dB).

Loudness: The Loudness feature compensates for deficiencies in the low and high sound ranges at low volume. You can set the Loudness feature to Low, Mid, High, or Off.

Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM tuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4dB to +4dB.

Dual 2.2-Volt Preamp Outputs: The Pioneer DEH-6300UB features two pair of 2.2-volt preamp outputs (Front & Rear/SW). The unit's rear preamp output can be configured as a fading rear-channel output or a non-fading subwoofer output.

Crossovers: The DEH-6300UB employs high pass and low pass crossovers to tailor the head unit to your connected speakers.

    • High Pass: The head unit's 12dB/octave high pass filter only allows frequencies higher than those in the selected range (50, 63, 80, 100, 125Hz) to your front and rear speakers through the unit's speaker-level or line-level outputs.
    • Low Pass: When the head unit's rear-channel preamp output is configured as a subwoofer preamp output, you can activate an 18dB/octave low pass filter so only frequencies lower than those in the selected range (50, 63, 80, 100, 125Hz) are output to your connected subwoofer.

Subwoofer Controls: When the rear-channel preamp output is used as a non-fading subwoofer preamp output, you can adjust the subwoofer output's phase (normal/reverse) and the subwoofer output's gain (+6 to -24).

Switchable Rear Channel/Subwoofer Speaker Output: The rear speaker outputs can be set to provide full range output with full fading capability, or they can be set to provide non-fading subwoofer (low-pass) output. When the rear speaker outputs are set to subwoofer mode, the rear preamp outputs also switch from full range to subwoofer outputs. When set for subwoofer operation, you can connect the rear speaker leads directly to two small 4-ohm passive subwoofers or a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils. If you prefer to use a single 2-ohm subwoofer, you can connect the woofer to one set of speaker leads, leaving the other set of rear leads disconnected. The maximum output provided when a 2-ohm load is connected to one set of leads is 70 watts.

    Radio Functions

Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.

RDS: The Radio Data System (RDS) feature displays radio broadcast information such as artist, title, and album when listening to compatible AM/FM stations.

BSM (Best Stations Memory): The BSM (Best Stations Memory) function lets you automatically store the six strongest stations under preset buttons 1-6 of the currently tuned band. The tuner has 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can store 6 presets for each bank giving you a total of 18 FM presets and 6 AM presets.

Local Tuning: Local seek tuning lets you tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for good reception. There are 4 level of sensitivity for FM and two levels for AM. The higher settings allow reception of only the strongest stations, while lower settings let you receive progressively weaker stations.

    Disc Playback

Compatible Discs: The Pioneer DEH-6300UB supports playback of CD-Audio, CD-Text, CD-R, and CD-RW discs.

MP3/WMA Playback: This unit can play MP3 and WMA files recorded on CD-R and CD-RW discs in ISO9660 Level 1/Level 2, Joliet, and Romeo formats. MP3 files with a bit rate from 8-320 kbps, WMA files with a constant bit rate from 48-320 kbps, and WMA files with a variable bit rate from 48-384 kbps are supported. The unit is compatible with ID3 Tags and will display artist, folder, file, and album name. Up to 8 directories, 99 folders and 999 files per disc are recognized by this unit.

AAC Decoding: This unit will playback MPEG-4 AAC files (encoded by iTunes) recorded onto CD-R and CD-RW discs.

Note: The AAC (MPEG-4) file must originate from iTunes. The AAC file must also not contain DRM protection.

Name/Track Title List: The Name List feature displays a list of MP3/WMA folders and tracks on a loaded CD or connected USB device, so you can easily access your music. Track Title List will also display the list of track titles on a CD Text disc.

Off Insert/Eject: A CD disc can be inserted or ejected with the power off. When a disc is inserted with the power off, the unit will automatically power up and begin playback.

Auto Off Eject: When you eject a disc, the unit will automatically power off (unless you switch sources before ejecting the disc).

Installation Angle: Optimum CD playback performance is obtained when the unit is installed at an angle of less than 60-degrees.

    USB/iPod/Aux Connection

Front-Panel USB Input: The unit's front-panel USB type-A input allows you to connect a USB portable audio player or USB flash memory that is USB Mass Storage Class compliant. This unit can play MP3, WMA, AAC, and WAV files stored on a USB Mass Storage device in FAT12/16/32 file system formats.  Up to 8 directories, 1500 folders, and 15000 files per USB device are recognized by this unit. The head unit is also compatible with ID3 Tags and will display artist, folder, file, and album name, plus comments.

    • MP3/WMA Files: MP3 files with a bit rate from 8-320 kbps, WMA files with a constant bit rate from 48-320 kbps, and WMA files with a variable bit rate from 48-384 kbps are supported.
    • WAV Files: 8-bit and 16-bit WAV (LPCM) files with a sampling frequency between 16 to 48 kHz are supported.
    • AAC (MPEG-4) Files: MPEG-4 AAC files encoded by iTunes (not containing DRM protection) are supported.

Note: USB portable audio players that can be charged via USB will be charged when plugged into the CD receiver's USB port and the vehicle's ignition switch is set to 'ACC' or 'On'.

iPod/iPhone Direct Connection: The Pioneer DEH-6300UB's front-panel USB port can be used to connect your iPod/iPhone to the head unit, via Pioneer's dock connector-to-USB cable (130CDIU50, sold separately) or the dock connector-to-USB cable which comes with your iPod/iPhone. The DEH-6300UB supports audio playback, music navigation, information display, iTunes tagging, Pandora Link, and charging of your compatible iPod/iPhone.

iPod/iPhone Audio Playback: The USB connection allows your iPod/iPhone's stored music to be loaded instantly to the head unit and sound quality to be maximized through the head unit's 24-bit D/A converter, allowing for a Signal to Noise ratio up to 94dB. The Pioneer head unit supports audio playback of music, podcasts, audiobooks, and apps stored on your iPod or iPhone.

iPod/iPhone Control: You can choose to control the iPod/iPhone from the head unit or from your iPod/iPhone's clickwheel or touchscreen.

    • Music Browsing: You can browse your iPod/iPhone's music library by Artist, Album, Song, Genre, Playlist, Composer, Podcast, or Audiobook. Once you have selected a category, you can search each category alphabetically.
    • Link Search: In addition, the head unit offers Link Search, which allows you to play songs related to the currently playing song. Link Search lets the head unit create an album list of the currently playing artist, a song list of the currently playing album, or an album list of the currently playing genre.
    • Random & Repeat: You can also select random and repeat functions for a certain song or specific folder.

iPod/iPhone Display: The head unit will display your iPod/iPhone's music file information, including - Track number, Folder number, Elapsed playing time, Song title, Artist name, and Album title.

iTunes Tagging: The head unit's built-in AM/FM RDS tuner supports iTunes Tagging, so you can save a song's information (tag) from an FM RDS broadcasting station to your connected iPod/iPhone. iTunes Tagging gives you the ability to "tag" your favorite FM RDS radio station songs and store the information on your connected iPod/iPhone; without having to scramble for a piece of scrap paper in the car or remember what song it was. Then later you can connect your iPod/iPhone to your PC and preview or purchase the "tagged" music at the iTunes Music Store. The songs will show up in a playlist called "Tagged" in iTunes the next time you sync your iPod/iPhone. Then you can directly buy the songs you want from the iTunes Music Store.

Pandora App: Pandora App lets you play music from the Pandora music service through the Pioneer DEH-6300UB using your connected Apple iPhone, via the Pioneer CD-IU50 iPod connector cable (sold separately), or the USB/Dock cable supplied with your iPhone. To access Pandora you must have an Apple iPhone (ver. 3.0), iPhone 3G (ver. 3.0 or later), iPhone 3GS (ver.3.0 or later), or iPhone 4 (ver. 4.0) with the latest version of the Pandora application from Apple's iTunes App Store. Your iPhone will need an active Data Plan account with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE, or WiFi. You will also need a Pandora music service account. The Pioneer DEH-6300UB provides control over your Pandora music service and displays Artist, Album, and Song information.

Note: Access to the Pandora service will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone to connect to the Internet. Pandora is not supported in Canada and only available in the United States.

iPod/iPhone Charging: The head unit's USB connection will power and charge your connected iPod/iPhone battery when your vehicle's ignition switch is set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position.

Note: If your iPod/iPhone has no initial battery charge, then the unit will not recognize it.
