Pioneer Makes It Simple Series: Installation Myths
A beautiful 6.95" color screen alone isn't enough to make a multimedia receiver a great buy. Sure, Pioneer's AVH-P4300 DVD receiver has a display that'll knock your socks off, with multi-angle adjustments and awesome custom display colors. And yeah, you'll never get tired of tapping, swiping, or dragging icons on its user-friendly touchscreen, or whipping through customizable menus with its intuitive controls. But that's only part of the story with this receiver.
Enjoy entertainment options
No matter how you store your music, photos, and video, this receiver will play it. First of all, you can play music files loaded USB devices, SD/SDHC cards, or burned onto CDs or DVDs. Second, just connect your iPod® to the rear USB cable and you'll be able to use the receiver's controls to access your music. You'll find your tunes by browsing through albums, artists, and playlists on the touchscreen, or by activating Alphabet Search to zero in quickly on your favorites.
Third, for movies and more, the high-def touchscreen displays video content from a variety of sources when you're parked, plus the receiver's rear video output lets you connect external monitors for backseat entertainment. You'll need Pioneer's optional CD-IU200V iPod cable to view video content from your iPod or iPhone.
Listen to online content with Pandora Link and your iPhone®
If you're a Pandora® addict, just download Pioneer's free Pandora Link app, hook up your iPhone to the receiver's USB port with the optional CD-IU200V iPod cable, and you can use the receiver's controls to navigate your way through your Pandora stations. You'll enjoy total control over Pandora, including displays of artist, album, and song information on the receiver's colorful screen.
Sound quality you'll enjoy
Settle down in the driver's seat, turn up the music, and check out the clean, powerful output from this Pioneer's built-in amp. For fine tuning, you can use the 8-band equalizer to adjust your system to sound its best in your vehicle, while the built-in frequency filters maximize the performance of your speaker setup. This receiver also offers 4-volt preamp outputs that'll send a super-clean signal to any outboard amps.
This Pioneer gives you several options for adding entertainment and safety functionality. You can hook up an HD Radio tuner to enjoy the high-fidelity sound of free AM/FM broadcasts from participating stations. With an optional satellite radio tuner, you can get into an incredible variety of news, sports, talk, and commercial-free music that'll follow you wherever you go.
If you're directionally challenged, Pioneer's navigation module will give you instant access to maps of the U.S. and Canada. Pioneer's Bluetooth® adapter enables hands-free calling with compatible phones. You can connect other sources to the rear audio/video input, or add a rear-view camera for extra safety when backing up in tight spots.
Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?
In most vehicles, you can use an adapter to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Pioneer stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the Pioneer, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.
iPod note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.

Average Customer Review(s):
For the year this came out... Nice
Pros: I like that I can connect my external hard drive via USB.
Cons: Doesn't read too many video formats. DivX us cool but I would like more.
I've had this unit installed for a couple months now and its awesome. The touchscreen user interface is easy to navigate and adjust settings. It did take a while to fine tune the equalizer, but the unit allows for so much flexibility in adjusting several frequencies you can tweak until the sound is exactly how you want it. I'd recommend this for those that want to spend the time in fine tuning their sound system, but not for those that just want to install a until and play right away. It will require adjustments, but well worth it IMO.
Installed into an 08 Avalanche in June. (Get GMOS LAN04 - not LAN01). Huge screen, easy to see, lots of support for connections like CD/DVD, SD card, USB stick (I use Blackberry with 16GB card) Backup cam attachment works flawlessly - every time. Video connecrions are excellent. BEWARE - the bigger the memory card, the longer it takes to read. 32GB SD card takes almost 2 minutes to read and start playing. If you don't have an i-Something, a lot of the features are out. You can't search by title or letter unless your i-something is attached. Only search function on SD card or USB is by scrolling through the list of files on your data store. The title of artist/song/album does not scroll - MAJOR ANNOYANCE. So if the name is longer than the scree fits (Say like Creedence Clearwater Revival) you won't see the full artist name. Blue tooth is absolutely horrendous. There's a bit of noise when you get the volume up past the 20's; not engine noise, its just noise - like a cassette tape makes between songs. You won't notice it when the music is playing even with a loud stereo. Unit is very customizable regarding appearances, EQ settings, and specific tuning of the music. Manual is terrible. FM reception is outstanding but AM is sub-par. If you buy this unit - email or call Pioneer and complain - hopefully they will create and provide a firmware update to the unit to correct the title/artist scrolling feature and search functions for non i-something owners.
Pros: Huge screen, intuitive menus, lots of connection options
Cons: If you don't have an i-Something, you may be disappointed in song searching. Poor AM reception - even with antenna booster.
This is a great user freindly receiver, well worth the money. The quality of this unit far exceeds the price. The screen clarity and dvd picture are clean and clear. I paired this receiver with Alpine components (610c) and coaxles in the rear (610). the sounds is crystal clear and rich. The only problem i had with the install was the supplied free dash kit did not work with this receiver in my vehicle. When the face opens and closed it got caught on the dash kit and would get stuck, no allowing you insert a cd/dvd. i had to order the metra 95-3305 dash kit and it looks better, matches the stock dash and no hang ups with the face.
This was an okay purchase. The unit has bells and whistles but at this price w/no BT or GPS it should but then doesn't execute them very well. I wouldn't buy it knowing what I know now.
Pros: Ease of install with kit and all. Basically stable unit with decent sound.
Cons: Terrible song management...sometimes no titles when playing but they are there in the directory. Shuffle is really bad...almost as if it likes certain discs at certain times. Very often goes back to the same disc two or three songs later. And often plays the same song. It shuffles the same several discs. Also it takes forever to start playing when using an SD Card after being turned off. The GPS add-on is crazy expensive and my cell phone does much better with nav anyway.
it does everything crutchfield said it would, and what i wanted it to do...excellent sound and pic. will recommend crutchfield to all my friends, and even some of my enemies. also awesome shipping time, 2 days. u cant beat it. way better than ebay by far.
Cons: i have no issues with this product
I truly am pleased with my purchase from Crutchfield. I could have purchased, from other sites, and maybe (???) saved a few dollars. But not one of the other sites mentioned anything about the total number of items needed to install my purchase. If I had ordered from the other sites, and only purchased, with additional funds, their recommendations of items, I would not have been able to complete my installation. At 7:00pm I realized I needed an ant. cable adapter. If not for Crutchfield's extensive list of items needed, and included with my order, my installation would have come to a stop. Thanks to Crutchfield's included items, with no additional cost from me, I continued my installation, with the Crutchfield supplied ant. cable adapter. My Pioneer sounds as well as Crutchfield's installation kit performed....Excellent.
Pros: I have always liked Pioneer products. This one lives up to my expectations. Great sound, a touch screen that is very functional and is very sensitive to my touch. Not any suprises.
Cons: I have nothing to enter.
Pros: Almost everything is great. Sound quality is good. Screen looks amazing. Touch screen response is almost right on. Integration with the Iphone is good, and changing between apps is a breeze. I wish that the Iphone usb cable would have come with the deck though. Pandora is awesome on the deck and works without need to touch the phone after the app is loaded. Radio reception is just ok. Otherwise its a good buy for the money! Cons: Video from the Iphone looks and sounds good, but the deck is very adamant about the car being parked, and it doesn't want to play like it should. I can understand the danger of driving while a video is playing though.
Pros: Most things
Cons: Not many things
awesome in my '10 JKU, can't comment on radio reception since I have had my old iPhone tucked in the glove box since I got the unit, and have been playing nothing but my playlists. iPod controls was a breeze to learn. Don't mess with pandora since I have exactly what I want on my playlists. And crutchfield.com phone help couldn't have made the install easier.
Pros: Everything imaginable in car stereo is available
Cons: would have been nice to have had something included
I purchased this unit February of 2011. It still looks as it did out of the box. The touch screen is responsive and interface is easy to navigate. Perfect for iPod integration. You need the CD-IU200V cable if you plan on running audio and video from your iPod or iPhone. If you do not download your videos from iTunes, you need to convert your video format to play on iPod. I use a program called "Freemake" for this. There are many programs out there, but that is my favorite. Sound is coming from external amps and the 7-band EQ does a good job tuning the sound the way I like it. Best unit I've owned, absolutely no complaints. If you don't care for navigation out of the box and need a multimedia beast, get this. October 30, 2011- The unit appeared to have closed on a cd that was halfway sticking out. I found disk fragments sticking out between the faceplate and the unit. I did not witness this happen, but the unit would not open after this. Called Crutchfield and told them the problem. New one in the mail the next day! Crutchfield support is incredible. One of the few companies that actually takes care of their customers...which compelled me to create this review. Thank you Crutchfield!
Pros: Simple, easy to use interface. Amazing sound and video quality. Fully customizable LED color and background. Quality construction materials.
Cons: Love everything about this unit. Does everything as advertised.
I'm very satisfied with this head unit. I bought this to replace my factory stereo so I could hook up my iPod. After 2 weeks, this head unit is fabulous! The touch screen interface and the rear-USB port are what sold me on this specific unit. The UI blows away every other UI I played with in ease of use and not having to dig through a menu for common controls. I routed the USB cable that comes with the HU from the back of the HU to the front of my console. The USB cord that comes with your iPod hooks in and you can play music with album art. The iPod starts playing right away when you plug it in, and resumes where you last paused your music. The 7-band EQ lets me dial in a much better than my factory HU, but would be nice to have +/- 1dB increments instead of 2dB. The sound enhancer feature isn't bad, but I rip MP3s at the highest bitrate so I don't use it. It sounds like it uses a compressor to add more punch. The effect is most noticeable in the sub-bass and mid-bass--it definitely has more punch and warmth, and sounds "louder", but I can hear noise artifacts. The enhancer has 2 levels, but sounds poor on Level 2. It's tolerable on Level 1 but I feel that pure EQ gives me better results. If you're an audio purist, you probably won't use this feature. Overall this unit rocks and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a clean native-looking install to play their iPod.
lovvve it for real no issues and it is better than i thought it would be!!
I love this unit! It's definately worth the money spent. The only issue I have with it is that long song titles don't scroll so you can see the entire title of the song, unless I have been unable to figure it out. But I couldn't even find it in the manual either. That's the only reason I gave this 4 out of 5 stars. Other than that, this unit is GREAT! So if you don't care about that, then I recommend this.
The AVH-P4300DVD that I purchased recently is amazing! What I'd like with this head unit is the overall features of it, especially you can control your iPod,iPhone (using an interface cable) with just a touch of a button, you can hide your iPod anywhere you want it, with no cables hanging around your console. My next project is to buy the optional Bluetooth device for this unit. And the BEST of all is, the amazing service of CRUTCHFIELD. I received my unit one day ahead of scheduled date. You Rock!
I absolutely love this head unit! I sold my old ipod and now i just use a small sd card loaded with all of my music. It's so simple to use and navigate. Once i have some money saved up i'm going to buy the optional navigation unit among other things. The sound is great and my subs sound better on it compared to my old head unit. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quality touchscreen interface dvd receiver.
I waited a while to put a new aftermarket radio in my Honda Element. When I first got it, there was no amp retention harness available and I wanted to use the OEM amps and sub. So I upgraded the four speakers. Yesterday I just added the awesome Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD. I wanted iPod control, Pandora and possibly a HD tuner in a double DIN sized unit. It needed to offer good sound too and along with the iPod control it had to bypass the internal DAC in the iPod. This unit is EXACTLY what I wanted. It mates well with my Polk door speakers, the OEM sub and the OEM amps. Crutchfields harness is about as good as it gets and very easy to wire up. Ditto for their dash install kit - it looks better than the factory unit did. I need to up grade the sub now and will do some Crutchfield surfing to look for one. I could not be happier with the Pioneer unit, with the service from Crutchfield and with all the little extras that make it worth it to do business with Crutchfield.
I cannot get the AVH-P4300DVD to play the video from any apps, except for Pandora. It plays iTunes videos fine, but I get no video from any other apps, including Netflix, Youtube, MotionX GPS etc. Considering this was a major selling point, I am VERY disappointed in my choice. I must point out this is a common issue, judging by the research I have done. Pioneer provides no support online. I am using an iPhone 3GS with OS 4.3.5. I am rating this 3 stars only because the audio is very good, and at least some video works.
I love the look and sound of this unit! There are a few things that could be better though, such as: ability to download BGV for all avh units, wish it worked better with thePioneer CD-BTB200. You can't store contacts or see the name of the person calling you, only the first few digits are displayed. When you try to switch to app mode to watch videos on iphone or ipod it sometimes gets confused, e.g. audio only or video only, or it takes a while to work. Overall for the $ this is a slick and entertaining unit that i would recommend!
Very satisfied with the Pioneer 4300 head unit. The unit meet all but one of my features I was wanting. The bluetooth accessary will be addition I will be making soon. Equipment works great, looks wonderful, and installation went with ease. Had the crutchfield techs on stand by in case, thanks!
I must start out by saying I have never owned any head unit other than a kenwood which I am replacing for a dvd touchscreen, but on paper this had every feature I could not find in a kenwood at this price so I gave it a shot. MISTAKE, I am currently in process of returning my second pioneer 4300 because there has been very excessive background noise in both of them(a hiss that gets louder with volume) coming from any speaker that i try to wire each of them up too.I have contacted crutchfield many times and they have been very helpful but everything they or I could think of to eliminate this problem has not worked and it won't go away. The unit operated great and controlled iPod with ease but the static in the background is unacceptable from a name brand unit at this price, stay away from this unit. If someone tries to give you one for free, RUN,the anguish it will cause you trying to make it work is not worth it! Because I have rewired so many times to try and make this work my wires are stubs and I will need a new harness for whatever unit I decide to go with now, very dissapointing!!!
I am disappointed that the functions of the receiver are not more comprehensive. The Sirius radio function does not display the title, artist and album at the same time. I get that information on my portable Sirius but not on this unit. The presets on the radio do not show the station's call letters or numbers Also, the bluetooth is not compatible with the latest Android based telephone. Called factory and they said they did not anticipate upgrading the units software to work with the Android. What a load that is. You spend hundreds of dollars for a bluetooth unit and then it doesn't work. They, at least, could have identified the telephones that would be compatible with the unit to help determine if you wanted to purchase it. Considering the amount spent, I had hoped the unit would be a better product.
I have been looking for pretty much everything that this radio offers in a head unit for a long time, and for the price I am very impressed with the unit. PROS: EASILY integrates with Pandora. Just use the regular Pandora app on the iPhone. Don't bother with the Pioneer/Pandora one. One issue with Pandora, see CONS below. iPhone App Mode - This is a great feature that when the car is in park (wink) you can view content from apps that have the A/V Out API built in (currently Netflix, Youtube, MLB.TV, iPod, Motion X GPS). This ability is a welcome feature and hopefully many other Apps will add the A/V Out API in the near future (Slingbox, I am talking to you). CONS With Pandora and a factory iOS iPhone, if you hit the home button on your iPhone to lets say run a navigation app or check your mail, you lose audio. If you "modify" your iPhone there are apps that you can install that will allow you to truly background. The iPhone has A2DP Bluetooth audio capability. This allows stereo audio from all apps to be sent to Bluetooth devices that allow it. The Pioneer BTB-200 Bluetooth makes a connection with the iPhone and you lose audio out of the 30 pin connector on the iPhone. The only fix unless your phone is modified is to disable Bluetooth on the iPhone or the radio, eliminating the reason for having the BTB-200. You can't disable A2DP on the iPhone or on the BTB-200 currently.
Good radio at a better price.
Bought this DVD to replace our 10 speaker Bose unit in a Nissan Armada. All I can say is WOW !! You talk about your music really coming to life with crisp highs & nice lows thanks to the Bose sub under seat. This head unit really made the Bose amp\spekers sound good using Crutchfields wire harness maintaining the amp. Pioneer done a good job on this unit feature wise. A++
I give the unit itself 5 stars. Pioneer has put together a in dash DVD player with built in amp and is simply stellar. Once the stock radio was out and this one hooked up, i couldn't believe the difference in sound even with stock speakers. The DVD is spectacular to. The unit itself is cheaper many places on the internet but Crutchfields tech support is AWESOME and also they give you all the others stuff needed to install. They give you the wiring harness for your vehicle and the mounting brackets which cost extra anywhere else. I cannot stress though how great their tech team is. Now for the installation. It was very simple and to the point. Wire up the harness from the Pioneer unit and the harness they provide for your vehicle and then plug n play. Very simple. The only issue i had was that i installed on a F250 Ford truck. Ford measurements are not exactly "double din" (4" by 7"). It's 3 5/8" by 7". So you have alot of cutting of the subdash. Dont be afraid. Cut the bottom of the opening (cavity) with a dremel tool even with the notch of the OEM mounting bracket and cut the top even with the top of the opening of the cavity. There are also two screws at the top of the opening that will need to come out. Once that is done you will have a perfect fit and you will not even need the bottom "gap filler" they provide with the mounting hardware. Overall, it's PERFECT
With the help of the Crutchfield assistants I was able to receive my Head unit way earlier than was expected. especially i live here in The northern Marianas Islands. It only took 4 days after I called. When it got here it was the sweetest thing ive ever seen. I ve been a car audio fanatic for a long long time and i am proud to say this Pioneer 4300dvd rocks. It has a alot of features and the sound quality is really good. Try and buy one for yourself and see what im talking about.
Just put this in my 05 chevey 2500 HD. the pioneer is great its my first one with the dvd clear picture.. Sounds great too. Also got the sirius connect with it too this hooked up so easy.. an got the GM factory integration adapter for all the stock bells.. its very good not loud at all..CRUTCHFIELD gets a 10!!!!!!!!
Very nice unit for the money. The Metra dash trim kit SUCKS for a 2007 350Z. When you hit eject, the unit makes contact with the top of the trim, straining the screen motor. Be ready to do some Dremel work on it to make it clear. It's a shame a 20 dollar plastic kit can ruin a 500 dollar radio but Metra has the edge on that market. Don't let cheap plastic stop you from buying such a nice radio. Plenty of bang for the buck.
i ordered the 4200 model but got discontinued and crutchfield upgraded me to the 4300..i have had this radio for about 4 months and its one of the best radios i have ever owned installation was the simplest. 7in screen is very crisp looks great the features it comes with are great. i installed the bluetooth adapter, sirius satellite, hd radio and backup and this unit rocks..everything sounds great..i would recommend this radio to anyone..way to go pioneer..
I just got mine in and installed it myself a few days ago. Installation wasnt too bad. I instantly noticed a difference in the sound quality and clarity of my music. This was an upgrade from my old Dual XDVD 9101, which was a pretty good receiver. This blows it out of the water. 5 stars all the way around.
Installed in a '11 Toy Tacoma. This is a fold down face where the bottom kicks out, not a flip down where the top drops away from the unit pivoting about the bottom. No obstruction with the dash with the "fold down" 4300. This unit works flawlessly. USB Ipod (I routed mine into the glove box) = flawless and with no delay. Touch screen is amazing. Screen resolution and dvd function are really fun. I love my 4200 and glad I didn't buy anything more... had budgeted $1400 for the head unit. Paid this much and am so glad I did.
The best unit I have purchased in years.....
I've been doing car audio for years, but this is my first foray into mobile video. I .must say "I'm impressed"! Now here is a capable unit that is seemingly future .proof! Including many features that I want now, and offering expandabilty for .features I may desire later, make this an excellent product for the money. The .audio parameters are many and offer excellent flexibility without external .processing...very nice! I feel as though I could go on and on but let me just tell .you that if you are thinking about it, don't hesitate, you will be delighted with this .product!
Ive had this unit about 3 weeks now and love it. I replaced the Pioneer AVH- P4000DVD with this one. Alot nicer features and display than the 4000. I also have the Bluetooth add-on module for it and the BT features on the 4000 differ from the 4300. You could do more with the 4000 BT features (keypad dial, easier missed/dialed/received viewing) Dont know why Pioneer would take BT features away? So if BT is heavy on your list you may want to consider the 3300BT. With that being said however, I couldnt be happier with the unit. DVD's are nice and clear and the 3 sets of 4 volt preouts (instead of 2 sets of 2 volt in the 4000) are a very nice feature as Im running a 4 channel amp and a sub amp. The Pandora is a cool feature and the Ipod operation is very well thought out and easy to search through. Although rarely used, the remote is a cool added feature. I would definitely reccomend to anyone! Looks clean in the dash too!
Had this unit in for about three weeks now and i love it.The only thing i havent figured out yet is how to get it to play all my music videos on my ipod touch one after another without having to pick them one at a time.
awsome head unit a lot of options and you can upgrade to the same level as the thousand dollar units. Better then any other player in its price range. I was going to buy the JVC Dvd player, but this one had the remote and you can customize the EQ, makes a world of difference in optimizing the sound.
Absolutely love this thing. It woke my system up. My older radio had 4 volt pre outs also but this is so much cleaner, I had to turn my amp down. My favorite features are the multi angle display and controlling iPhone through the radio, I use pandora alot and this is much easier! Considering buying another one for the wifes car, we'll see how this one holds up for a while.
Love it always been a big Pioneer fan. Always have great products, nice price, easy installation, went flawlessly. Took about 30 minutes. Great fit, great features and looks absoulutely amazing in my 2007 cobalt. Great power for the speakers. Also, made my rockford T2 15 sound amazing and seen a nice bass boost. Highly recommend to any one. Screen looks great and alot of nice features and expandability for gps sat radio etc...Crutchfield is a great company to buy from will continue to do business with them.
This unit fits a 2008 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab (just make sure you have the factory radio mounts). The setup and menu navigation is pretty easy to learn. It has great sound and the 8-band equalizer lets you really dial in the tone to anything you want. Custom 1 will apply to all sources while Custom 2 will apply only to the source you are currently on. l So you can basically set up different custom eq curves for each source. Pretty nice, though I set up Custom 1 and go from there. I had an older single DIN Pioneer and the iPod integration and interface on that was nice, although it lagged quite a bit. This one is great because if you search for artists/albums/genres, it lists 6 at a time so scrolling through is pretty quick. I have the older 3GS iPhone and so far it has worked flawlessly with this HU. I've watched a few movies off of it and the sound is incredible. Great video quality too but that obviously depends on the native quality of the video file. I've also tried the Pandora radio with my iPhone/HU and it seems to work fine. Not a lot of experience with it but the little bit I did play with it it sounded nice. Overall I would definitely recommend this HU. If you like Pioneer's sound customization then you will not be disappointed.
REAL NICE DECK SOUND REAL GOOD WITH MY 12 JL W6.IT HAS ALOT FEAUTURES.WILL RECOMEND TO ANYBODY.
Recently installed this head unit in my '07 base model Nissan 350Z. It was a huge improvement over the OEM head unit. It's easy to use and navigate the screens. It has plenty of options, and the sound quality is great.
I am very happy with this unit! But when I ordered this unit crutchfield said it would fit. But when I went to install this it did not fit perfectly. I had to make modifications and I had to cut some of the plastic in my car for it to fit right. So I am a little upset that crutchfield said it would fit and then it did not fit. But when I finally got it installed I was very pleased with the look and sound. I have a 2001 Monte Carlo SS. Just so you know if you have the same car I have that you will have to make modifications. Be prepared to do extensive work to get this to fit right! But after its installed you will be very happy pioneer is top notch. Crutchfield is not always 100% correct on what fits and I don't understand why not. They need to fix that. I have bought from them before and I was very happy. I was just a little disappointed when this did not fit perfect. This product deserves 5 stars!
I had an aftermarket JVC unit for awhile and thought my system was very good but wanted more mid bass so was thinking of getting better speakers. But i popped this in and was blown away at how much more mid bass and bass there was along with clarity being better also. Great sounding and looking unit.
I am very satisfied with this DVD receiver--the options are great, installation went smooth, and I like the room it has for expandability. This is my 1st pioneer I have ever owned and the manufacture didn't disappoint me. Thanks to crutchfield once again for a pleasurable shopping experience!
had this for 5 months now. Great unit for the money. easy to use and good for the ipod.

Video Adjustments: You can store numerous video settings for each source and the optional rear view camera; including brightness (adjusts the black intensity), contrast (adjusts contrast) color (adjusts color saturation), hue (adjusts the tone of color), temperature (adjust the color temperature), RGB (adjusts phase shifting), and black level (emphasizes dark portions of images).
Widescreen Modes: You can choose from the following widescreen modes when playing back video:
On Screen Display Color And Background Adjustment: The color of the on-screen display can be set to red, amber, green, blue or white. The background can be set to one of four preset still images, one of three preset movie images, a stored JPEG image, a video image from the external input, the clock, or turned Off.
Note: To view a video image, the background image needs to be set to 'Off'.
Front-Panel Controls With Adjustable Illumination: In addition to the touchscreen controls, the unit includes frequently used buttons along the bottom edge of the screen. The color of the button illumination can be set to red, amber, green, blue, white, or scan (constantly cycling through the color spectrum). You can also create a custom color using the unit's on-screen menu.
Dimmer: To prevent the display from being too bright at night, the display is automatically dimmed when the car's headlights are turned on. You can turn the dimmer on or off. The automatic dimmer function only works when the orange/white illumination wire in the wiring harness is connected to the vehicle's headlight circuit.
Parking Brake Interlock: This unit has a parking brake interlock system that prohibits viewing of video programming and operating certain controls when the vehicle is in motion. In order to watch video on the in-dash monitor, the vehicle must be parked with the parking brake engaged.
24-Bit/96kHz DAC: For superb quality audio playback from DVDs, CDs, and flash media, the Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD is equipped with a 24-bit/96kHz digital-to-analog converter.
MOSFET50 Internal Amplifier: This receiver is equipped with a 50 watts x 4 (peak) MOSFET amplifier for low distortion, high power output. The amplifier is strong enough to power small subwoofers to moderate volume levels in compact cars and pickups. For higher volume levels from subwoofers, an optional amplifier may be connected to the preamp outputs.
CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the AVH-P4300DVD are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers. The power output specs are as follows:
EEQ (Easy EQ): there are seven stored equalizer curves which you can easily recall at any time. You can choose from - Powerful, Natural, Vocal, Super Bass, Flat, Custom 1, or Custom 2.
8-Band Graphic EQ: The Custom 1 and Custom 2 EQ modes allow you to manually adjust the level (+/- 12dB) of each band of the head unit's 8-band graphic equalizer (40Hz, 80Hz, 200Hz, 400Hz, 1kHz, 2.5kHz, 8kHz, and10kHz).
Auto EQ (Optional): The auto-equalizer automatically measures your car's interior acoustic characteristics, and then creates an auto-equalizer curve base on that information. The Pioneer CD-MC20 Auto-EQ microphone (130CDMC20, sold separately) is required to use this function. The Pioneer CD-MC20 Auto-EQ microphone plugs into your compatible Pioneer A/V receiver's front-panel 3.5mm input (located behind slide-down touchscreen). The Auto-EQ microphone should be placed in the center of your vehicle's driver seat headrest facing forward for EQ measurement.
Sonic Center Control: Sound that is suited for the listening position can easily be created with this function. You can adjust sound more toward the listening position left (7) to right (7).
Loudness: The Loudness function compensates for deficiencies in the low- and high-frequency ranges at low volume. You can set the Loudness to High, Mid, Low, or Off.
Bass Boost: You can easily boost the subwoofer bass level by using the Bass Boost function. The Bass Boost feature allows you increase the subwoofer level from 0 to +6.
Advanced Sound Retriever: The Advanced Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. When the Advanced Sound Retriever is on, the high frequency range is compensated to match the frequency response curve to the original sound. There are two available levels of the Advanced Sound Retriever effect.
Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM tuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4 dB to +4 dB.
Three 4-Volt Preamp Outputs: The Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD is equipped with three 4-Volt preamp outputs (Front/Rear/Subwoofer). The front and rear speakers are fading with high-pass crossover filters, while the subwoofer output is non-fading with a low-pass crossover filter.
Rear Channel Speaker Output: You can choose to use the rear channel output (speaker and preout) for full-range speaker or subwoofer. If you select "subwoofer", you can connect a 4-ohm subwoofer directly to each rear speaker lead, or a 2-ohm subwoofer to one of the rear speaker leads, without using an external amplifier.
Telephone Mute/Attenuator: Sound from your system is muted or attenuated automatically when a phone signal is received when you have hardwired your mobile phone system to the mute wire (yellow/black) of this unit.
Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.
RDS: The Radio Data System (RDS) feature displays radio broadcast information such as artist, title, and album when listening to compatible AM/FM stations.
BSM (Best Stations Memory): BSM lets you automatically store the six strongest stations under preset buttons 1-6 of the currently tuned band. The tuner has 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can store 6 presets for each bank giving you a total of 18 FM presets and 6 AM presets.
Local Tuning: Local seek tuning lets you tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for good reception. There are 4 level of sensitivity for FM and two levels for AM. The higher settings allow reception of only the strongest stations, while lower settings let you receive progressively weaker stations.
Satellite Radio Ready: You can connect and control an external satellite radio tuner from XM or Sirius. The XM or Sirius satellite radio tuner connects via the IP-Bus connector on the back of the head unit.
Note: A subscription to XM or Sirius, plus the proper antenna is required in order to receive satellite radio programming.
HD Radio Ready: This unit is compatible with the optional Pioneer GEX-P20HD HD Radio tuner (130GEXP20H, sold separately) allowing you to tune available HD Radio stations.
