Don't go small when you put a new receiver in your dash — fill up that 4" tall dash opening with Pioneer's FH-X500UI CD receiver. This sharp-looking receiver stretches out with a multi-color, dual-zone display that lets you choose from thousands of colors — you can even set up one color for the display and another for the buttons. For some extra visual excitement, MIXTRAX syncs the audio from many of your sources, adding transitions between songs along with a light show that pulses and changes color with the beat of the music — like cruising down the road with your own personal DJ on board.
Customize the display and button colors to match your car.
Plug your iPod® or iPhone® into the front-panel USB input, and you'll be able to control your music files and playlists. If you're a Pandora® fan, you'll have control of your favorite stations from the receiver when your iPhone's connected. You can also use the USB input to tap into the music files stored on many Android devices, while the front aux input handles just about any other audio source. If you're into your CD collection, you'll enjoy stellar playback of your store-bought and home-burned discs.
Pioneer's potent MOSFET amplifier delivers plenty of power, and the 5-band EQ lets you tweak the sound as much as you want. You can also switch quickly between seven preset equalizer curves to get the sound you're looking for during your drive. The two pairs of preamp outputs make it easier to add external amplifiers or a powered sub.
In most vehicles you can use an adapter (not included) to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Pioneer stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the Pioneer, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.
Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver.
Installation Note: Pioneer doesn't include a DIN sleeve with this receiver, as it's only needed for a small number of installations. We'll let you know on the way to the cart if you need to purchase a sleeve (item 130ADTV133) for your vehicle.

Good radio; USB feature works great. nice display
Great all around
Nice deck with plenty of sound qauality options.
Pros: Easy to install with minimal instructions.
Cons: Not crazy about the changing colors, dimmer doesn't make much difference.
Perfect Stereo for the music fanatic! Great display and sound ! Crutchfield Staff was amazing and prompt with delivery!
Pros: To many cool things to mention!
Cons: Not being able to hear it 24/7!
Terrific stereo for a great price. Easy install with included hardware. A bit complicated to learn the menus and get everything programmed and set up, but once done it sounds great. Cool lighting too with tons of color choices. Installed in a Ford Excursion.
Pros: Great Pioneer quality. Excellent sound and lots of features. Terrific price.
Cons: Takes a while to figure out the menus. A little more complicated than it needs to be. Certain lighting colors are way too bright at night.
Excellent unit with easy to use controls. It sounds great and made a huge impact in how my music sounds in my car. I would absolutely recommend this unit to anyone who wants great sound and functionality for a great price!
Pros: Easy to read display, large controls are easy to use... Sounds fantastic!
Cons: None so far...
Great sound. Looks nice
Overall and awesome radio. Def. worth the money.
Pros: Lights are great. Can play so many diff types of media on it
Cons: Tuning for good bass and vocals is very hard and limited.
Great Fit. No issues.
All I need is a dance floor in my truck now
Pros: East to install, cool colors and the Mix function is great
Cons: Still learning some menu controls
Good item wasnt hard to install
I bought this Pioneer receiver to replace the double-din factory one in my 99 Altima. Beforehand I had replace the factory speakers with some Pioneer 6.5's all around, but with the factory head unit. The sound was noticeably better, but when I installed this receiver my goodness... the power! Even without putting the loudness setting on it sounds so much better. Clarity improved greatly and it was fairly easy to install, just a matter of soldering the harness adapter together and plugging it in. Also I've seen reviews saying its hard to use the controls while driving, I have zero problems switching stations/source or controlling the volume while driving. It is a little more sensitive than a factory radio but not anything crazy. Aux input works great too.
Pros: Easy to use, good power output, aux input.
Cons: Sunlight glare can make the display hard to read.
Pros: Nice look for any car
Sound quality is excellent. The controls for the I-Pod are confusing but manageable once you use it. Installation was a brease.
Pros: Clean looking face.
Cons: Brightness on display could be brighter for sunny days.
I really like this radio because of the cool colors. I wish that it would flash when playing through the AUX port instead of just through the USB. Also I would have like it if it would work with Android.
very nice, definitely would recommend. looks a little out of place in my older subaru because the radio looks so modern and everything else in the car is basic factory controls. there are many display color options - all look bright and sexy at night.
Pros: usb and aux, can switch songs by pressing the arrow instead of controlling it on the phone, light options, many different settings for bass, etc
I had to return this product because it didn't mesh well with my 350z bose amp. But it's definitely a quality product. The flashing lights are a little cheesy since I'm not in my teens anymore but thankfully you can shut the feature off. Overall for $120 you're not going to find a better value. It's a great unit.
I think this stereo is a great value.
Pros: Great value for the money. Crutchfield was great with customer support.
Cons: Sirius attachment to aux port does not have the greatest sound quality.
Pros: Easy to use, nice looking
Good value, if it worked, bought because I did not need anything fancy and the reviews were majority good. Unfortunately the unit was toast right out of the box. Called Crutchfield and they promptly fixed the issue. I went ahead and upgraded to the kenwood dpx300u and just finished the install and it works great. Can't reccomend this unit as it did not work from the get go, but Crutchfield's customer service is top notch and they corrected the issue promptly and without question.
Cons: Did not work
I think this product is a well made and cool looking product I would highly advise this as a head unit!
Pros: The illumination is sweet and I love the display that it has!
Cons: The first one that I ordered stopped working after about a week when the led display stopped showing anything. However Crutchfield said that that happens very rarely and they replaced it with absolutely not charge to me.
This was the first aftermarket stereo that I have boughten and installed on my own. Crutchfield gave me everything I needed to make the install go smoothly and this radio was everything I was looking for. It produces quality sound at a cheaper price and I would buy from them again for sure.
Very good radio/CD receiver for the money, Many extras with the unit.
Pros: Easy to set up and use.
Having hated the "premium" audio Scion put in the car (Alpine), I was all too glad to replace it. I didn't need a ton of features, just good, solid sound and power. I definitely got that with this Pioneer! The install was easy, thanks to Crutchfield, and the improvement in sound was hilariously obvious. The stock audio unit had a 65 dB signal to noise...so distorted and muddy. The Pioneer has a MUCH higher StNR, and it's so much clearer, punchier, and doesn't give me a headache. The features are powerful, and this unit throws out a lot of bass, has very good EQ selections and 2 custom options...5 bad EQ is pretty good. I like the options for lighting, and it has a cool look. For the price here, I say it's a real bargain, and I give it a solid A grade for its price range.
Pros: Very good sound, cool look, nice EQ options, I think it's easy to use.
Cons: Haven't found one yet. I don't miss the steering controls much, so I'm not even going to comment on that.
Stereo works great.really like the iPhone feature. Just plug in USB and start playing music. Easy to use with lots of options.
Pros: IPhone compatible. Easy to work.
Cons: A little complicated to get android phone to play.
This is a noce radio that installed easy with the other stuff Crutchfield sent with it. The only issue was that I have a 2003 Honda Element and it has a factory installed amp that made the radio not give any sound. So I had to bypass it. I just cut the wires going into the amp and connected the speakers directly to the wires going to the radio.
Nice , easy to use and easy to install
A good radio at a good cost.
Wonderful product. The sound is amazing. My daughters enjoy the ability to change the colors anytime they desire. Every time I get in the car, it's a different color. Easy to program and set up the way you want it.
Pros: Color change, sound, ease of installation.
i bought the stereo for my daughters car she is very happy with it
Great product fits my car like it was made for it.
Bought this receiver do my wife's 2007 suburban. After hours of researching ans reading reviews, I decided on this one as it seemed to be the best bang for my buck. Crutchfield includes everything for a seamless install, one of the reasons I buy from them. It took me about 30 minutes start to finish to install it. I fired it up for a test listen and was blown away! Very clear, gobs of power, and easy to navigate menu make this Pioneer a winner. I would definitely recommend!!!
Pros: See review
Great radio at a great price!! Easy to use. Cool effects with the Mixtrax. Would give it a full 5 stars if the dimmer function worked.
Pros: Ease of use. Color effects. iPod/iPhone USB hookup.
Cons: Dimmer does not work.
I really love this stereo! I literally use of its features. I keep a CD in the player just in case my iPod bores me or my Phone has a bad signal. Either way I'm covered! AUX Port - Great for for my Cell Phone. I use Pandora a lot, so I just jack in and let it play. Its great also if I have a friend who wants to use it too. USB Port - Love using my iPod Classic with this. It works seamlessly with both the Remote and the Stereo's controls. Its also great for charging USB powered devices. FM/AM Radio - The digital tuner is dynamite! It's better than the old tuner I had. I think I can save about 18 FM stations. Sounds really clear! I don't use the AM tuner at all. Overall the radio is a huge upgrade over my old stereo. Sometimes the controls are a bit confusing, but if you bare with it, its manageable. I love the colors, I leave it on Red (Its the dimmest color). The biggest thing I noticed is that its louder than my old radio, which is great. And the BASS! I did not expect that! I boosted the BASS all the up and played a BASSY song. My poor speakers could not handle it. With a little tuning, it really thumps nicely! Give this stereo a shot! I love it! It's blast being stuck in traffic now, I'm too busy jamming to worry about not moving!
Pros: Looks, Colors, BASS Reproduction, Color Customization, USB Port, and Remote control.
Cons: Navigating menus is a little tedious. But thats about it.
This unit is very decent for the price. It sounds very good and fit my girlfriends 1999 civic almost perfectly. Overall I am very pleased with this head unit and could not expect much more for the money. I would have preferred a Kenwood head unit over pioneer for about the same money.
Pros: Inexpensive, good sound quality, cool color selection, looks great.
Cons: Buttons feel kind of cheap and clicky, The unit itself is very light which makes me a little skeptical about build quality. The screws that came with this unit did not work for my vehicle. The unit seems to be overly complicated for what it is. Could be a lot more simple and direct, the text display is a little dim and hard to read in the daytime on certain colors.
Good product. The website made it easy to find out which stereo would fit in my vehicle and the instructions that were sent via email were very easy to follow. I did have to look on youtube on how to remove my particular dash panel but found it quickly.
Pros: Good sound and easy install myself. Crutchfield does a good job sending necessary hardware which were included as part of the purchase, would have cost me more to buy it locally!! And free shipping!! Great deal. I probably saved $150 buying through them and installing it myself.
Cons: Lots of features to figure out how to use. Takes some time reading the manual and sitting in front of the stereo actually going through them to figure it out. Still working on that part.
overall very stisfied
Pros: I love the display colors and different options, it was cheap and works great
Cons: Navigating through the menu can be a bit challenging at times
Needed a new radio for my Kia, Sedona. I did not want to spend a lot of money as I am older and can't hear the sounds as well as I did when younger. This radio fits the bill, easy to install and fits fine in the dash. I spent 45 years in electronics so it was easy connect the wires. When installing be sure to connect up the antenna wire as I did not know that it was to turn on the amplifier for the antenna and had to remove the radio to connect this wire. It takes a little while to get a costumed to operating and maneuvering in the menus. I have tried to lower the brightness of the lights in it but I can not get it very low, too bright for those dark country roads and the dimmer doesn't make that much difference. The remote works great and is easy to adjust the audio sounds.
Pros: Good value, easy to install.
Cons: Bright lights and navigating the controls.
Great unit, bought for mom. Easy to use, all the features you could want. Installation instructions and awesome customer service made the install a 20 minute breeze. Crutchfield crew rocks.
The pioneer radio has a great sound along with cool display! It was easy to install with the kit. I am looking forward to my next purchase of speakers and other sound devices!
Pros: Has to many to write or type!!
Cons: The bracket could have had less tabs to remove but with a pair of dike cutters one can easily remove the unneeded tabs!
It's probably the best 2 Din for the money. However I wish I had spent an extra $40 for the Sony WX-GT90BT. The five band EQ has more bands than most, but the Sony has 7 bands. Although I have not heard one.
Pros: Affordable and easy to use.
Cons: It needs a better EQ and would nice to have the Boss wattage. I am cheap and picky about my sound mix.
Very nice sounding unit for the money. My son loves the lighting features!
Pros: Fits perfectly in the space.
Cons: Not for amateur like me to install
My wife likes the color changing and the sound of the stereo.
Pros: Very easy to install
this pioneer stereo is a great value for the price!! installation went good it looks great in my toyota tacoma and sounds great as well, you can't go wrong for the money
Pros: it looks good and sounds good.
Cons: it takes a little time to operate the menu.
this is an awesome stereo, good sound, good price, really cool features. love it
Pros: all I wanted in a stereo, very easy to use
Cons: no cons
This is an excellent double din option. It fit my Santa Fe perfectly. IMO, double dins look much better on mini vans and SUVs than a single Din would. The mixtrax function was not a factor when I ordered it. However, once I tried it, I love it and I get to listen to a random mix of songs spanning 4 GB- awesome!
Pros: Design, audio quality, mixtrax
Cons: Ease of use could be better
The family loves this unit.
Pros: Affordable unit, that installed easily.
Cons: No compatible faceplate. The rear stereo controller will override the unit.
This is a great deck. I love the sound quality and the ease of installation with the supplied cable adapters. This looks so great in my dash, and at night its like light show in my truck!.
Pros: ease of operation, sound quality, the illumination of this is just awesome!!!.
Cons: The only thing I can think of is in certain daylight times it is hard to see the display.
All around awesome product!
THIS IS A GOOD RADIO
For the price this is a nice looking radio. Many colors to choose from.
Pros: Nice fit good looking and sounding radio
Cons: none so far
This is a great unit! I found it very easy to install myself. I have the unit in my Pontiac Vibe with the stock speakers. I am happy with the sound now but I ordered a pair of Pioneer speakers just to see the difference. I plan to get a component set for the front also when I can. Nice lights, Too!
Pros: Ease of installation, good sound, easy to add an amp if you want to,
I love this deck! I was using an iPod fm radio transmitter and it was awful... Now I can plug my iPod/iPhone in by USB or aux
Pros: Sounds great and is easy to use
Cons: Not blue tooth
Excellent reciever for the price and I will be doing more business later.
I needed a replacement for the original cassette/radio in my 2000 Honda Crv. Wanted a USB/ auxiliary jack with some pizzazz and a relatively brand name. This fit the bill to a "t". Installation was fairly standard no problem with harness, the Metra case, not so much, more on that in separate review. Sound quality is excellent, I listen to mostly hard rock/metal and the sound with original car speakers is very good, plan on getting 4 new speakers eventually and I'm sure the sound quality will be even better. The lighting display is very bright, I keep it on the default which cycles through all of the colors, very pretty lol. I think the build quality could be a little better, the volume knob which is very prominent seems to me to be kind of flimsy, as does the USB cover. Hasn't broken yet, but, I could see it happening. All in all very satisfied with the unit.
Pros: Sound quality Ease of use Color choices for the display
Cons: Build quality
Easy to install good
Great full din stereo for the money couldn't be happier
Pros: Aux port ease of use and sound quality
I got this to replace my stock radio in my toyota yaris.
Pros: It looks really cool with so many different color options. It plays mp3s from a USB stick i got a 32 gig one in there with thousands of songs on it.
Cons: The display is hard to read in the daytime. Its not bright enough. The single knob for everything is not the greatest idea.
Sounds much better than my Monsoon factory radio
Pros: Very lightweight
Cons: Does not have a dimmer
I'm very impressed with the radio. Actually much better than expected
I love this deck it fits very well in my car, the different colors are fantastic as well as the iPhone and pandora control.
Pros: Illumination, sound adjustments, iPod and pandora control, easy to use and learn.
Cons: Not Bluetooth, mixtrax I not ex actually what I thought it would be.
I purchased this while looking at a similar model that had bluetooth. I messed up (my fault) and ordered this one, without bluetooth. I didn't realize I had ordered the wrong one until after I had it installed. For the 1 week that I had it in my car, I was definitely not blown away. I'm running high end Rockford Fosgate speakers in all 4 doors with an amp and 2 12"s in the back. The subs rock, but the Rockford Fosgate's simply didn't come to life. I tried playing with the EQ on the Pioneer to bring more highs and mids out of the door speakers. The 5 EQ options are factory set - as in you cannot adjust the lows, mids, and highs to your preference. I couldn't find a setting that met my expectations/preference. I've had awesome car stereo systems in previous vehicles, and this deck, in short, kind of disappointed. If you want a cheap upgrade from your factory stereo, this is a killer unit. But if you're a serious car stereo guru then hold out and spend the extra cash, this isn't gonna do it for you. Crutchfield was awesome on their end. I called them and told them I wasn't satisfied with the unit, they let me pick a different one out and only charged me the difference between the 2 units. Can't ask for much more than that. 12/10 customer service.
Pros: Light options are kinda cool. Crutchfield customer service is awesome.
Cons: Factory EQ settings/options kinda suck, you can't customize your own lows, mids, and highs. You gotta spend more money if you really want a better sounding head unit. I've always owned Alpine's, this was my first Pioneer. I'm gonna stick with Alpine from now on.
This stereo fits perfectly in the Nissan Exterra. Took all of five minutes to install and wow it sounds great.
Pros: Big sound and sooo cool to look at. Love the lights and sound effects.
Cons: Expect to strip wire behind the factory plug to expose the (-) and (+) leads for the speakers.
Love it, money well spent. Love the colors
Pros: Has 5 band eq
Cons: Should come with steering adater
Awesome radio for the price! Dimmer switch not really dim. But can overlook it.
Pros: Easy to install
Cons: Dimmer is non existent
What can I say? This receiver is a joy! Pioneer quality at a Crutchfield price!!
Pros: Ease of installation and so many great features.
Cons: I didn't buy it sooner.
Heard about this company and decided to try them out, being I never used anything aftermarket. Made a good choice and hope to do business again. The workers was surprise it included everything they needed to installed. I love my radio. The sound sounds great, easy to use, great features..
Pros: Easy to use Great quality Easy to install Sounds great even without new speakers
Cons: Its easy to attract dust and fingerprints. Other than that, I am pleased
Great product, still learning how to use it.
Pros: Easy to install
Cons: Hard to understand programming functions
Good enough for the price. Sound good enough and look good enough for a double bin receiver..
Can find no reason not to give 5 stars. Works as advertised. Colors are cool. Customization and install was easy. OE stereo on my 06 f-150 has 2 plugs, this stereo only has one. A quick call from the help desk telling me not to worry about the "extra"plug solved any confusion. NOTE: I did not need the antennae extension, and the connectors the sell u are only good for wire to wire, not for joining 3 wires together. Quick connects that snap together w/o any splicing work better, and are cheaper at the parts stores. Also I found that on my truck, the spacers on the installation bracket were too big. Once I removed them, the fit and finish look factory.
Pros: Great looks, sound, and installation
Very nice deck....great power, easy to use. The only flaw with it is the display lights that really doesn't dim after pressing the dimmer button. Overall its a nice unit,it fits perfectly in my 06' Sierra after minor modification....plays very clean & you can dial it in to the exact settings that you desire....a plus for me!!!
Radio was easy to install. Problem with switched wire. Wire is dead. Connected to constant wire until I can figure something out. USB does not work. Tried different USBs, i.e., 4gb, 8gb, 16gb, with all same results. CHECK USB.
Easy install, sounds great with my factory speakers.
Pros: Looks great, sounds beautiful
Cons: Controls will take some getting used to
good value good sound easy installation overall very pleased
Pros: value quality
Had this radio installed in my chevy equinox. I love how you can change the colors. Love how it sounds with my factory speakers.
Pros: Love the ability to choose between many colors changes, love the sound, very easy too operate.
Cons: None..love everything about this radio!!!
Easy to install and easy to use.
Pros: Great sound, ease of use, cool colors.
Cons: Display is a little dim in sunlight.
Very cool radio, just what I needed
Could have been better for the price
Pros: Better sound Nice look
Cons: Not worth the money
I installed this unit in my daughter's car it was simple and easy to do. With the wire harness and very good directions it was done in an hour.
Pros: Easy to set up, colorful, great unit for the money.
I really like the features and sound of this receiver. I bought it to replace the factory stereo in my son's car. It is a noticeable upgrade in sound quality and features. I really like the ability to charge and control Pandora on my IPhone 5c. I wish there was some way to tone down the lighting. I have the dimmer enabled, but it is still a bit much.
Pros: Very good sound. Pandora control.
Cons: No big deal, but lighting is a bit much.
great stereo at twice the price does everything i need it to do plus it looks great
Pros: great sound
This was recommended for a 17 year old girl. She couldn't have been happier. Great light display. Easy to use with great sound and function
Great sounding, easy installation. Absolutely horrible. This quite possibly could be the best worst product I have ever owned. I don't even know how to write a review like this. This rates 99 "atta boys" and 1 "aw crap" but the flaw ruins the stereo for me.
Pros: Every thing you would like in a stereo at a great price.
Cons: The main knob is used to control everything. It is near impossible to adjust the volume while you are driving. You reach up to change it and press ever so slightly on the knob and you are 8 menus deep into the programing. I want to hit it with a hammer. Hard. Often. And with great malice. A car stereo should not cause this sort of frustration in your life. Pioneer spent so much time making it look pretty that they ran out of time to make it functional.
I love that I am able to plug in my phone to this unit and play my own music. It was very easy to install with the included instructions. It only took me about 1/2 hour to fully complete the install and the longest part was connecting the wires to each other.
Pros: Love the color options. Very easy to install. Great features that allow you to connect phones in different ways.
Cons: Every time I plug in my phone it automatically starts with song in alphabetical order, even when I have a song playing. You can change it from the phone but it is a minor step that would be better if fixed.
Changed my daughters Honda Civic original radio out for this stereo..WOW! Without even installing new speakers..the stereo sounds amazing...my daughter sat in the car for 3 hrs listening to it after I installed it..Well worth the money - I wasn't expecting so much out of this radio and of course the changing colors (which I didn't even know about when I ordered it) adds character.
Pros: Great value..awesome sound. Easy to install. Easy to operate. and..it looks good.
Cons: Don't have any yet..been installed only 30 days.
Excellent radio with a lot of great features. The menus can seem a little daunting at first, but aren't too bad to learn. Well worth the money!
Fairly easy to install. Set up was simple, although I haven't set up Bluetooth yet.
Great radio. A little confusing for the older generation. My sons love to change colors.
Pros: Super easy to install.
Cons: Confusing to operate with all this radio can do.
I replaced the stock stereo in my 2003 Mustang GT with Mach 460 with this Pioneer and it fits in well with the other dash lights. Some people on here complain about the lights being bright, but they may not have realized that you can just set the color to stay a darker shade so it's not so distracting. In Mixtrax mode, however, it can be set up to strobe through the rainbow and auto DJ parts of songs or full tracks. In that mode, it is very bright and could be distracting for some drivers. Very slick looking overall and works well with my stereo. The adapter kit only comes with 2 plugs and the stock radio has 3... I'm not sure what the 3rd plug was for but I just taped it off and the stereo works great with just the two plugs. Great stereo for the price.
Pros: Looks, price, loudness
Cons: Bright lights in Mixtrax mode
Factory radio in 2004 Matrix was giving up the ghost. This double-din had all the basics I needed to upgrade while needing a replacement radio. Went from 3 band to 5 band EQ, 3 level loudness control (none in factory unit), MP3 and tablet inputs on the front. Installation was a snap. The wiring harness/adapter was color coded perfectly. Even made the Polk Audio db651s door speakers (4) installed in 2007 sound that much better. Well worth the cost, which really wasn't that bad.
Pros: Clean sound, very tunable to whatever speakers you may have, and plenty of power (for a 65 year old into Jazz, even with my HK mid bass and JBL/Dual powered Sub). Love the pause function for CD's, and the mute on the remote. Being able to set color of display and keys to whatever you want to match or accent your dash is rather clever.
Cons: None that I can see, or hear ! ! !
Excellent stereo, lots of features, very good price. Excellent product support. Install was a breeze once I got the dash apart.
Pros: Lots of features, good price, cool display
Cons: Non so far.
Installed in '01 Mustang convertible originally equipped with Mach 460, which is a miserable system to modify. The original head unit sounded pretty good, but didn't have any provision for an iPod. I also wanted a full-time clock display, which for some reason seems to be rare. The Pioneer slides right in, making up the harness wasn't a big deal, and Crutchfield includes all the parts. My research told me that I need to set the high-pass filter as high as possible to protect the mid-tweeters, and set the low-pass to keep highs out of the subs. It'd be nice if Crutchfield indicated this on the instructions, but it's not hard to find. I ended up with the HPF at 200 hz with 12 db/octave roll off, as high as the hpf on this unit will go. I set the subwoofer low pass at 125, gain at zero, 12 db/octave, but I'm still fiddling with that, some programs still distort due to too much low-mid to the subs. I may drop the low pass down to 100 or lower. The sound is great; much better than OEM, even with the OEM amps and speakers. I may at some point replace the OEM speakers and re-wire, but that's another exercise. The head unit does require a lot of menu-diving to make changes, the panel controls are minimal, it's really a set-and-forget deal. The display brightness can be annoying; pick the right colors! And I can't imagine anyone older than 6 being the least bit enchanted by "Mixtrax", a totally worthless "feature".
Pros: easy install, good sound, full-time clock display, works well with Mach 460, with some fiddling. Great instructions. Very flexible in outputs, control options. Great deal at the price. Keeping it for sure.
Cons: Mixtrax is worthless, not the least bit interesting or useful to an adult. Display dimmer that works would be nice. Bright light strips along edges of unit are annoying; who thinks up these things? Takes a while to figure out the menus. Crutchfield should provide some guidance on HPF/LPF settings for Mach systems (although, I've now done that...)
Very nice product for the price.
Put this unit in my 2011 Impreza and the sound quality is outstanding. Biggest issue now is that I want to spend more money on new speakers to further enhamce my listening pleasure !!
Pros: Looks great, great Pioneer quality, easy to install, sound quality
Cons: menus are a little cumbersome but not bad once you get used to them.
I installed this unit to replace the factory unit. It fits great and sounds awesome! Well worth the money. Crutchfield is topnotch in customer service.
Pros: Great inexpensive unit......Sounds more expensive!
Cons: Display lights are a little bright, but you can match them to your dash lights!
Purchased this for my daughter's first car. She wanted iPhone integration to listen to her music since her generation gets all their content digitally. Install was a breeze. Typical of Pioneer's HUs, the navigation through menus was intuitive and I never had to refer to the manual either for install or configuration. She picked it up immediately as well. At this price point, it's hard to argue this is not a great bang for the buck solution.
Pros: Ease of install Ease of use Appealing to those needing inexpensive iPhone integration
Cons: A few more EQ options would be nice, but at this price - not really a deal breaker
I bought this stereo for my niece and she loves it. The installation instructions were very clear and easy to follow. Installation was a breeze. I took a little extra time to solder all the wires to make sure of a good connection.
Pros: The display was very cool the way the colors faded into the next color. The sound quality is great.
Cons: I can't think of any at this time.
Purchased for my young daughter and she loves it!
Pros: Perfect fit for her Ford, great sound, and very colorful
Cons: Can't think of any.
I've always loved Pioneers products but this one blew me away. It looks and sounds amazing and the shipping and price where ever better. I highly recommend this
Nice sounding unit for a good price. A lot of custom features, and a perfect fit for my 2006 Ford F-150
Pros: decent sound for the price, fits in the dash well, easy installation with expert info from Marshall/Crutchfield
Cons: too bright even with the dimmer on....tone it down Pioneer
Great stereo! Took maybe thirty minutes to put in!
Pros: Lots of options anything from changing the color to the normal audio options! Looks great and keeps the blue theme going in my car.
Cons: Sticks out, kinda like it being flush. Not a very clear wiring diagram. The blue and the blue with the white line should be connected.
Love this radio and was very easy to install.
I am very satisfied with dealing with Crutchfield. The product is great. I received it very fast. Didn't expect it so fast. This was a Christmas gift for my daughter. She is so excited and loves it. I give the Radio a 5 Star. I also give Crutchfield a 5 Star rating, for there prompt service. Also the ease of navigating through their web sight. I didn't have a clue how to buy this for her vehicle. But after visiting the web site it was so easy. Thank you Crutchfield!!!!!
Great radio easy to use and program
Product was a gift and they are thrilled. Was easy to put in and the directions were very clear
Pros: Sound quality is superb
Great product especially for price
Pros: Ease of use
Cons: No bass or treble control..its all done through the equilizer
Easy to read and set
Pros: iPod works great with this radio
Pros: A lot for the price
I bought this receiver for my teenage daughter, she loves it. The upgrade over the stock radio is very noticeable, even without replacing the speakers. As for the bright lights, no complaints from teenagers. She's been asking how to make the lights brighter.
Pros: Price, sound, ease of installation
It is a ok receiver if on a budget or just a quick replacement...wasn't too impressed with the overall but again on a budget or a quick replacement ok...
Cons: Too much flash for little quality
I have been a loyal customer since 1989 and this purchase is no different.Just a fantastic product at a fantastic price. This unit has all the features I wanted and more.Always easy to follow and clear instructions for a professional looking install.Supper happy!!
Fantastic stuff. for a low price
Pros: Works like a radio should.
Cons: Not even a real con but I don't like how the the edges are "higher" than the middle creating an odd lineup to my cars dash.
Bought this stereo for a low cost build in my 2009 Subaru Forester XT. Install was A BREEZE. With a ASWC system my steering wheel controls still work. Sound quality is great. Features galore. High Pass Filter, Low Pass Filter, everything you need. Colors on the front are customizable and it looks cool. Love this thing.
Pros: Customizable display. HPF and LPF.
Cons: Bright display. Wish it had an RCA input.
This was a great buy and I'm totally happy and pleased with it!
Pros: Tons of great features, tons of ways to customize your music, and has a very sharp look to it.
Cons: The menu is a little cumbersome but it is not that big of an issue overall.
Great looking piece for the money. Great features also
Pros: Ton of features and nice display
Cons: A little difficult to manuever.
I just installed this radio and I have to say for the price, it is an amazing buy. I immediately noticed a better sound quality. Would recommend
Pros: Easy install, looks great, sounds even better
Cons: May be a little bright at times at night, even with the auto dim feature
Easy install. Just wish that when you eject CD it would default to tuner, Huge improvement in sound over stock.
Our F-150 Factory Stereo stopped working. After researching the cost to get it replaced by Ford, I researched many different replacements and decided upon this one. Following the information provided I had no problems replacing the Factory stereo with this one. The sound quality is much better and we are very happy with our choice!
Pros: Great Sound, lots of features
Replaced the factory unit with this nice piece. Major improvement. Great sound. Not impressed by all the various lighting/colorations, but now I've got it adjusted to something I like. Hoping for long use and enjoyment.
Pros: Sound quality and adjustiments
Cons: Colors can be too bright and distracting at night inside the cab
It is a neat stereo, with a myriad of options.
Pros: USB input AUX input multiple customizing options
Cons: BRIGHT BRIGHT BRIGHT did I mention brightness. The "dimmer" on this stereo might as well not even exist, because it barely dims the lights. It it like a nightclub in the cab of my truck at night time. Beware of the brightness
I had a factory Infinity deck going out in my 2003 Hyundai Tiburon and was looking for an inexpensive replacement without all the fancy stuff. Just a double din to fit where the stock unit was. The Pioneer fit the bill nicely and I was able to custom match the display color to my reddish/orange interior lighting so it really looks factory. Was kind of scared to do the install but with the instructions provided by Crutchfield, it was very smooth. No problems whatsoever. Very happy with the product and service I received.
Pros: Value for your dollar!
Cons: None at this price!
would recommend this product to anyone... should also replace factory speakers as this unit is too powerful for them
Amazing head unit for the price! Amazing head unit regardless of price. We installed in a 2005 Jetta and it sounds like a concert hall!! Love it!! Even the steering controls still work. I am going to have this unit in all 4 of the family cars
Overall nice unit, but seems designed for children. Too many extraneous lights (I covered vertical perimeter lights that serve no function with electrical tape). As others commented, there needs to be a functional dimmer. Dimmer ON / OFF indicates that the dimmer is ON or OFF, but there is no perceptable difference in light level. The very prominent MIX button is the most useless thing I've ever seen (unless you're a stoned teenager that likes to look at flashing lights). Menu navigation takes some practice, but no worse than other modern units. Overall I like this unit, but I would prefer substance over style (which is why I opted out of rating "Coolness Factor" which I consider NA). I'm quite satisfied with sound quality.
Pros: USB (Which is why I chose this model) Double DIN (full size)
Cons: Crazy lights / Mix button? Lack of functional dimmer
I owned this unit for a very, very short time. It lit up my entire cab at night. If you own an older vehicle with a less than bright dash illumination, this unit will overpower and is not for you. It lists 5 levels of illumination which is non existant and false. Pioneer doesnt even list this as an option for this unit on their web page any longer. I assume it never made it into the production units. Everyone still lists it on their webpage though.
Pros: Great sound, easy to use
Cons: Super bright, will not work with a vehicles auto dim when you turn on the headlights and the built in dim feature is non existent. Also, it has two bars of light, on either side of the unit with will blind you at night and there is no way to turn it down.
Expected more....returned for jvc model..don't let price fool you!
Pros: LED Lettering, to see stations...price
Cons: FM reception...too much play in knob, will break soon...
The stereo is an excellent unit. Fits in my Honda like a glove. Changing colors definitely add to the coolness.
Pros: Large display, changing colors, mp3 port, easy press buttons. You get a lot for the price. You will be very happy with the unit.
Cons: The menu is a little complex, difficult to get out of.
The colors are too bright at night but I can barely see the display during the day. I feel that I am in the hood and I just modified my minivan with a booming system which has a changing light display. The sound is great. I love the little remote control that comes with it. Very easy to install.
Is a good unit for the money, but as soon as I had it installed, I already wanted to upgrade.
Pros: Price. USB and Aux ports on front
This unit is bright , I read a review on how to tone down the brightness by adjusting the RBG values, I followed his write up with a link to a Pioneers video showing the "how to: This seamed to work for me alot Hope this helps some of you.
Pros: 5 band eq usb reception
This is a very good bang for buck head-unit, especially if you don't need Bluetooth. This was a present for my dad to go in his 02 Buick Century. Sounds good for a budget unit, a little hard to use at first. Love the changeable colors and the plethora of input options for s budget stereo. Like other reviewers have said it is a little bright. And the front bezel feels a bit cheap,
Pros: Good sound. Lots of options and colors to change to. Looks really cool
Cons: A little bright. Feels very plastic-y
I like the value for the price. Sound quality was better than the stock Delco in my 2004 Colorado. Adding the adaptor to keep dash lights and vehicle "dings" working is essential (and affordable here at Crutchfield and elsewhere) AND from what I gather, without that adaptor you will get a service light from the computer in a lot of vehicles these days - if that service light is on, good luck getting inspections. I digress... the ease of use is so-so; adjacent buttons are easily mis-punched while reaching for an intended button, but you get used to it. Coolness Factor: I like the display options but there are way too many decorative lights - it's bright at night if you are suburban or rural and there is no way to control it other than color choice. Over all though, for the price, this is a "GO"!
Pros: Quality seems fine so far. Remote Control is good to have given button/dial locations/sensitivity on the face.
Cons: Adjacent buttons are easily mis-punched. Main volumn dial is too easily pushed while spinning and enters into Menu mode.
This radio/CD player working very good; the sound is cool; good options for the colors on the display.
Pros: This CD player fit perfect in my car; lucks very good on the dash; also have many options for the differents sounds .
Cons: I'm learning right now about all de options of sounds, colors, and all the operations .
This is such a wonderful Stereo. It makes you feel like u are driving a new car. The Color display is so totally popping that u have to remind urself to keep your eyes on the road when driving. Ouput is wonderful it get as lound as u need and probaly can blow your speakers if you go up to far. Other words it has power. All the options on this amazing. I wanting to go play with it now writing this review. LOL Other words for the ridiclously low price that they are selling it for, you would be crazy to pass it up. Everyone that has rode in my car since I had installed just sits there and stares at it.
Pros: COLOR DISPLAY USB CONNECTOR AUX CONNECTOR
Cons: No Bluetooth Option :( But, with all it has I am okay with it.
Nice radio. Installation documentation could have been much better, but they're probably not designed for the DIY type. Once I figured it out, everything went fine. Looks like it was made for my vehicle.
Pros: Lots of features, can finally use my Iphone easily in the car. Cool LED display although that would be more fun for someone younger.
Cons: Documentation for DIY installation. Weighs about half as much as my original radio because of all the plastic parts, but that's not unusual these days.
Pioneer, what else to say, they have made quality, affordable audio for decades, cant go wrong. I went with a cheaper priced, different brand, ended up returning and buying from Crutchfield and got a great price on a great stereo, that looks factory, no adapters. install kit was easy to add, stereo works great, the changing color is cool, everyone comments on it...so coolness factor is high. sound is great, i have a simple phone i put my music on, WAV, not MP3, plugs in and sounds great, love it. CD's read artist and songs even on burned copies. which is awesome! no deck before, even a Sony I had didnt do that! You wont be dissappointed.
Pros: too many to list but price for value...
Cons: a little bit of overkill on what ALL it can do...but for some its a good thing.
I liked it for the little time I had it. buttons were big and easy to use. i loved the large text and display. radio reception was real good out where I live, and the thing was easy to set up. mixtrax was pretty useless, if you ask me. would just cut off in the middle of a song and start the next one in the middle. not at all like the house dj's at the clubs I used to work in. reason I sent it back was for the display brightness. even on the dimmest setting, I could easily read in the back seat at night. for me, in my car, it was way too bright. with it centrally located higher up in the dash, It washed out my night vision and became distracting. this was with the buttons set to red, as well. overall, it was a very good unit, and would still be in the car if not for the brightness of it.
Pros: big display big buttons lots of good features
Cons: mixtrax pretty useless too bright
I installed one in a 2007 Toyota yaris. It was the perfect fit! Looks great and sounds even better. So many features to tweak your factory speakers as well as your sub(s). I really like the multiple loudness options. The brilliant colors add pizazz. It was definitely the right choice for me.
This stereo is very good. I would recommend it to anyone. I replaced our factory stereo and this sounds 100% better. Very easy to setup and no problems yet! Great price for what you get, which is way more than you should at the price!
Typical Pioneer unit, you get alot for your money. Sounds great and is easy to use. I like that it fills the whole area that the stock unit did in my F150.
Pros: Easy to use, great looks and sound
Cons: Shiney face is hard to keep clean. Wish it would dim more.
I have always loved Pioneer stereos and there is NO better place to purchase them but Crutchfield!! This unit is a great value. I installed it in my 2006 Kia Sedona van and it was as simple as pie with the installation kit and wiring harness supplied by Crutchfield. Fits nice and looks fabulous! Sound is awesome with lots of audio adjustments to suit your own taste. I like the many choices of light colors also. People who see it are impressed and think I paid alot more than I did for this. lol My ONLY beef is the radio is terrible. It does not pick up even 1/4 of the stations I could with my factory radio, even local ones. I'm not sure if it has to do with the antenna being in the glass on my van or what. But, I didn't buy this to listen to the radio so I'm ok with that.. USB/Aux ports work great and that's what I was buying this for anyway! I would purchase again.
Pros: USB/Aux Ports, Multi-colored display lights, Sound quality, Easy to use, PRICE!
Cons: Horrible radio reception
Lo recomiendo I reccomend it
Pros: Fácil de instalar y usar. Sonido perfecto. Easy to install and use. Perfect sound.
Cons:Crutchfield response on 9/24/2013 Translation provided by Crutchfield's Spanish Sales & Support team. Visit our new Spanish-language site at www.crutchfieldenespanol.com:
This is exactly what I expected it to be. It looks very sleek and sounds great with my iPod. You can change the settings to whatever sounds good to you to make a very powerful listening experience. Only thing is the radio reception cuts in and out at times and some stations that sounded fine on my stock radio now sound faded and somewhat static-y. I'm not sure how to fix that.
Pros: Sharp looking display, Mixtrax looks cool with iPod use, love the color changing with normal radio use
Cons: Installation was a bit difficult, FM reception cuts in and out sometimes
Amazing radio with convenient interfaces and cool colorful features. Very sophisticated look and features that is so hard to believe was the price, including the wiring harness, installation sheet and installation hardware kit.
Pros: Elegant and yet sophisticated, with colorful lighting, a very cool Mix feature, an IPod and USB interface and great sound. Price with all the add-ons was amazing. I great deal and Pioneer Quality and reliability.
Cons: Lighting is a bit to bright at night, even when the darkest color is selected and the Dim feature is ON. Wish it had 1 or 2 more dim levels.
Good looking double din reciever. Plenty of settings to tweak, to make it sound and look the way you want.
Cons: Was snug fit I'm my 04 grand am with rca cables hooked up but not The the products fault there
Nice clean looking interface , Excellent Radio reception, Plenty of sound quality adjustments to tweak the perfect sound frequency that you like, easy access USB port on front of unit. Crystal clear sound. Plenty of power, [ i'm thinking this units power is under rated ] enough to shake the rear view mirror on my trailblazer Using 4 MTX TDX65 speakers powered only from this unit.
Pros: Remote, USB , Power output to speakers , plenty of adjustments to tweak the sound freq
Cons: learning curve on the interface may take some getting use to [ just finding where everythings at will take a few uses to master ] and in my opinion mixtrax sucks pioneer if you read this i just wanna know WHAT ARE YOU THINKING thank you for putting an option on this unit to turn mixtrax off.
these is my first double din and let me tell you i love it . it fits prefect for my suv. not hard to install, plus when i had a little problem the tech support was very reliable. hope to have this stereo for a long time but if i ever need another stereo i will be coming back to crutchfield. for sure.. Thanks guys.
Pros: love the colors plus that is has a USB port

|Apple Device||Generation||Tested Version||Media Type||Control Type||Display Type||Charge|
|Audio||Video||Head Unit||iPod/iPhone||App Mode||Pandora App||Artist/Song Text||Track Info|
Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may need to reset the head unit and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may need to wait until a newer software update is available.
Auxiliary Input: The FH-X500UI is equipped with a front-panel 3.5mm stereo minijack auxiliary input for connecting external components, such as a portable MP3 player.

Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.
Pandora App: The free Pandora App lets you play music from the Pandora music service through the Pioneer FH-X500UI using your connected Apple iPhone, via the Pioneer iPod connector cable (sold separately) or the connector cable that came with your iPhone. To access Pandora you must have an Apple iPhone (iOS 5.0+) with the latest version of the Pandora Radio application from Apple's iTunes App Store. Your iPhone will need an active Data Plan account with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE, or WiFi. You will also need a Pandora music service account. The Pioneer FH-X500UI will provide control over the Pandora music service and display Artist/Album/Song information.
24 Bit D/A Converter: The Pioneer in-dash head unit utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.
MOSFET Amplifier: The FH-X500UI is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power specifications for the FH-X500UI are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers.
Note: The rear speaker outputs can be set to provide full range output with full fading capability, or they can be set to provide non-fading subwoofer (low-pass) output. When the rear speaker outputs are set to subwoofer mode, the rear preamp outputs also switch from full range to subwoofer outputs. When set for subwoofer operation, you can connect the rear speaker leads directly to two small 4-ohm passive subwoofers or a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils. If you prefer to use a single 2-ohm subwoofer, you can connect the woofer to one set of speaker leads, leaving the other set of rear leads disconnected. The maximum output provided when a 2-ohm load is connected to one set of leads is 70 watts.
4ch/2V Preamp Outputs: The Pioneer FH-X500UI features two pair of 2.0-volt preamp outputs. The unit's rear preamp outputs can be configured as fading rear-channel outputs or a non-fading subwoofer outputs with a low-pass filter, phase adjustment, and output level control.

Equalizer: The Pioneer FH-X500UI features a Preset & Custom EQ. The built-in equalizer offers 7 preset sound modes (Powerful, Dynamic, Vocal, Natural, Custom 1, Custom 2, and Flat) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The two Custom modes allow you to manually adjust the head unit's 5-band EQ (80Hz, 250Hz, 800Hz, 2.5kHz, 8kHz) from +/-6dB. Custom 1 can be set separately for each sourc
