Our take on the Pioneer AVH-P3200BT

Built-in Bluetooth technology brings you the safety of hands-free calling. When paired with your mobile phone, the receiver mutes the music for an incoming call, then plays your caller's voice over the car's speakers, while you speak into an external microphone placed in a convenient location. It's truly like talking to someone in the seat next to you — you'll drive with your hands on the wheel and your attention on the road ahead.

Put it all together

Today's DVD receivers set the bar for multi-faceted functionality. Pioneer's AVH-P3200BT DVD receiver raises it higher by adding built-in Bluetooth® — for an extra level of convenience and usability in your mobile audio/video experience. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit fit well with the install kit Crutchfield supplied. Sound quality is excellent and radio reception is excellent also. I bought the unit for the phone bluetooth interface which has worked well. Call Quality is decent. I use it for iPod control and tagging which also works well.

    Pros: Reliable Pioneer unit.

Cons: very occasionally the bluetooth doesn't pair with my phone automatically

    Install Jeep Patriot 2010

Tim R from Seattle on 1/25/2011

    2010 Jeep Patriot
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this in a 2010 Jeep Patriot. The one thing to note is the slot the factory radio came out of will not allow you to install this without cutting the top part of the rectangular bracket the factory Radio sits in. I uses a Sawzall and a short blade (be sure to cover the below with an old towel to keep metal flakes from falling where they should not be). Once removed it fit right in place. If you want to have the steering wheel controls work I would skip using a Pac-Audio Steering Wheel interface which requires two other modules to use a (swi-can and a swix) its also a royal pain to program and tends to be slow in response. I replaced it with a ASWC made by Metra Electronics (Axxess). This thing worked great almost like plug and play!! You will have to pickup a location for +12VDC ACC power to the unit as this is not available out of the factory harness. Also be sure you have the 3.5 mm jack fully seated into the radio in my opinion the axxessinterface ASWC is far superior to the PacAudio Steering Wheel interface. They also make a XSVI-NAV INTERFACE for NAVIGATION too bad I didn't see that before getting the ASWC. Oh Well......I also installed the XM Radio add on the HD Stereo Add on and the Pioneer AVIC-U220 Add-on GPS Navigation I am so far very happy with it all (aside from the $$$ spent but I planned that into the full price of the Jeep).

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just purchased this Pioneer DVD head unit and it is everything I thought it would be and more!! I could not be more pleased! Spent a few hours hooking everything up and now it works perfectly! You dont even need to buy an ipod cable, you can use the same cable that you use to sync or charge your ipod. Love that when you use the ipod cable insteat of the aux cable that you can control your ipod right on the unit and it shows the album art. Tried out the bluetooth last night and it is very crisp and clear on the recieving end. Overall installation was very quick. Very Impressed and pleased!

    Great replacement for a STi

    MRay from Alabama on 12/26/2010

This unit is amazing for the price. The Bluetooth is flawless, although it cannot stream audio. The screen looks very crisp, which makes watching movies appealing. The fit and finish of the radio is very well done. I have enjoyed it so much, I have already ordered some Polk speakers to replace my factory ones. Now, I do wish the USB and AUX were on the back side and not the front for a cleaner look, but that's a small price to pay for a unit that's only this much. On the install side of things, it was very easy to do. Although, as a side note for Impreza/WRX/STi owners, you need to connect the "Power Antenna" wire to a power source (I used the switch power wire(red)) for the antenna to work properly.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am very impressed with this stereo. Installation was a breeze. This changed the interior look of my Hummer H3. The sound quality, DVD, Bluetooth functionality is incredible. Thanks Crutchfield for recommending. I also received great support on one question I had during installation. I was told that I would have to modify my Hummer to make this stereo fit. There was no modification necessary. Very happy....

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am very satified with this unit. It was easy to install with the included kit and works great with my iphone 4. For me, the USB port in the front is great. Connect the iphone with the cable that came with the phone and I can play the music on the phone and charge it at the same time. I have no desire to connect an ipod or iphone and leave it in the glovebox. It is also nice that the color of the lighting on the unit can be changed to match your vehicle's dash lights color. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the manual. It is horrible! To read all about a particular function you have to go to 3 or 4 different pages. Fortunately, the operation of the unit is relatively intuitive.

    Very good, but some frustrations

Matt from Alameda, CA on 12/5/2010

    2002 Audi A4
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this to replace the factory stereo in my 2002 A4, as I wanted satellite radio & bluetooth. The installation overall took me about 8-10 hours, most of that time was pulling off trim & running the wiring for the satellite antenna & the microphone for the bluetooth. I would make two recommendations on installation. Firstly, get the Haynes manual for your vehicle; that will help you with how to get the trim off. Secondly, call up Crutchfield tech support & ask about the specifics for your vehicle. I wired up the harness for my vehicle, only to find that you need to run an additional lead for the switched power. The Crutchfield printed guides aren't really helpful, but their tech support is great. The satellite radio is great; clear reception. The only frustration here is that they could use the display better so that you can see artist & song info at the same time, rather than having to press the screen. Perhaps a firmware update Pioneer? The bluetooth works pretty well overall, but you can't access the keypad while you're in a call, which means you have to get your phone out to say, press 1 for an option. Also, you can't mute, which is a must for taking conference calls. You can't have the unit on with the ignition off, like you can with the factory unit, which is frustrating. If I were choosing again, I'd get one with the USB connection on the rear & leave an iPod permanently connected. One final thing - the user manual is poorly written & things are missing.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This Pioneer unit is very upgradable and the sound quality is amazing for under $500. I plan to use it for my Saab as a central control unit as it does Bluetooth, Rear View Camera, Aux Output and Navigation. Most of the stuff is extra to enable it, but it is really worth it. I am very happy with how this purchase worked out. I would recommend this highly.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just slipped this bad boy into our Toyota Sienna (non-JBL system) - it went in without a hitch - the Crutchfield-provided replacement console pieces look and fit like stock. The "most difficult" part was wiring up the Crutchfield wiring harness to the Pioneer harness, but that was hardly an issue, just a little time-consuming. Total job, done myself, was about 45 minutes...only because I was taking my time. I've been shopping car stereos from Crutchfield for 18 years - I will NEVER buy from another vendor. The free install goodies (harness, console pieces and instructions) can't be beat. Crutchfield, thanks again for another great self-install! Oh yeah, this Pioneer system rocks...even with factory speakers.

Pros: Great price for features, DVD works great and sounds great, love the USB connection in the front(I have 2 8gig flash drives and i can just plug and play them), SD slot great for playing pic slideshow as I listen to music, using USB for iPhone connection, EQ adjustment and features is great, display and touchscreen, playstation hookup using rear connections. Cons: Bluetooth calling is a bit scratchy, can not bluetooth stream music from iPhone Overall, another great Pioneer product for a great price. I have used Pioneer before and my next radio will also be a Pioneer.

Great Great product. Does everything it claims! Easy as pie to install once you get the connections on the supplied harness done and went straight into my 2004 F150 Super Crew Cab. Have owned Pioneer products before and this is just another example of their excellent audio products. iPhone 4g connected as soon as I hit the power button and Sirius Direct connect and interface was a snap to get going. No issues whatsoever. Haven't used video feature yet but definitely looking forward to it. THANK YOU CRUTCHFIELD for making the purchase, installation and enjoyment ABSOLUTELY SEAMLESS! Wife and daughter now looking for another Crutchfield purchase!

    Great Upgrade for my Mustang

HenryinFlorida from Delray Beach, Florida on 10/17/2010

I've had this unit in my 2008 ford mustang convertible for a week now and I am very happy with it. I had it professionally installed, and it looks like it came with the car. The sound is definately an upgrade from my stock 4 speaker system. I had already upgraded the speakers to Pioneer 3 ways and this head unit just completes it. My only dissapointment is that there is no USB port in the rear. I wanted to use my ipod in the glove box. However, that being said. I have loaded all my music on and SD card and I find it really works in a very simular fashion. My one concern with other units was FM signal strenght, but even on some week stations I listen to I get a very good signal. All in all I would recomend this unit to anyone looking to improve their auto sound system.

    Pioneer has always been great

Kurt W from Indiana on 10/16/2010

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After extensive searching, and going to local stores to test out the equipment. I found the 3200 BT to fit my needs. Not only that, I have always been a Pioneer electronics fan! For those who are reading this, you would do well with the price and features of this unit. They say this unit does not support the Radio Data Service, at least at the time of this review, but it does indeed have RDS, a feature that does seem to come in handy for those who like to listen to the radio from time to time. Also the description states that it will not playbeck DVD + R or DVD+R/W, this is incorrect as well, it does play back the + format without hesitation. The only thing I found disappointing, was that the remote has to be purchased separately. Installed in about an hour, which was pretty fast. I have a Colorado 4X4 Crew Cab without Onstar, and with door tweeters, replaced the original Blaupunkts with Infinity's all around and this stereo drives these like no other radio I have heard without the use of an external amp. Great job to Pioneer, and to Crutchfield as well!!

Wife's Nissan Frontier rocks with Pioneer AVH-P3200BT

AceNM from Albuquerque, NM on 9/21/2010

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My wife sold her Infiniti G35 and bought a new Nissan Frontier truck. Don't ask me why. But the truck is super good looking and we got a great year end price....Except the stock radio was boring. Long story short, we shopped around and by far, the best deals are on Crutchfield. Why is it, so many retail people don't get it about the power of Internet buying, with selection and detailed facts, not sales talk. Add the great customer service and support model of Crutchfield and it's a no-brainer. We chose the Pioneer AVH-P3200BT for it's touch screen, blue tooth, dvd, xm ready, and front/rear ports. We also purchased the Pioneer XM receiver GEX-P920XM. Shipping was a tad slow, but for free, that's okay. This was my first install, and wife wanted me to purchase installation, but after talking it over with the Crutchfield expert, I decided to wait and look over the provided installation docs. Indeed, paperwork was solid, good photos and instructions. I jumped right into install, and while I did have to call a couple of times for pointers, overall the installation went well. Phone support is very good. Hardest part was the XM antenna, since I had to route that from outside. One issue: the trim cover from kit was defective. A replacement was promptly shipped, no hesitation from Crutchfield. Overall, we got a great receiver, with all the functions we wanted. XM works, Bluetooth works, DVD works, all with a great sound to the new Frontier. Wife is happy, nuff said. :)

    great sound quality

    2005 Nissan Altima
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The head unit produces great sound. I like its arrangement of colors you can choose from for the background and appearance. Also the options to use the usb, ipod, and mp3 discs are exactly what i needed and prevent me from listening to the boring radio stations that recycle the same songs. The bluetooth option makes hands free driving great. The mic for the bluetooth is a little too sensitive where the person being called complains of some static from the road. I'm still trying to figure out how to connect the dvd cable to the e brake line, but i'm sure that will be fun to watch dvds as well. Overall, I would suggest buying this because the price is low for something that has this many features. And if you're worrying about security features for this, take off your stock faceplate from the radio if you have a double din and set the avh back an inch. Put the stock faceplate in front of the avh and no one will know you have an aftermarket head unit.

Installed this unit into my 06 mustang. I have nothing but good things to say. Crutch fields Instructions were spot on. Bluetooth works great. Eq, loudness, bass boost, it has it all. No need for a sub now, this unit rocks the bass. Wired up a 12v relay so video plays anytime. Very impressed, am glad I chose this unit.

    Sounds Great

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Ok so I bought my system piece by piece. I started by replacing my factory speakers and adding an amp to them. Then I added two 12 inch subs with an amp. I added all this an still had my factory head unit. It sounded good, so I thought. I added this head unit and it was like a night and day difference. With this head unit the sound was crystal clear at both high and low volumes. Im glad I went ahead and purchased this product. It is pretty easy to navigate through the menus and it looks great in my car. The only thing that I dont like about it is that the usb plug is on the front.

    Great Upgrade

RedExpo from Charlotte, NC on 8/29/2010

This system works great. A lot of power. I installed it in my 2005 Ford Expedition and found the factory speaker need to be upgraded to really let this system "out of the box"! Much better than OEM. I usually by kenwood or blau but this seems to be the best "bang for the buck". Also, the mic for the bluetooth make it great. Like you would expect a factory bluetooth system to work. Magnificent.

    2001 Nissan Pathfinder
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this unit over the weekend and have had a few days to use it. First, the install into my '01 Pathfinder went pretty smooth. Everything was pretty well detailed by the install manuals for both the Pioneer and Scosche units: hookup was no problem. My only complaint about the install is that there is a leftover gap of about 1/4 inch around the unit. I would have liked to have gotten some sort of kit to resolve the gap. Second, the Pioneer has some pretty nice features as others have mentioned. The interface is intuitive and I didn't really even need the manual to figure out how to use it. Music sounds good with my factory Bose speakers. DVDs play great. I do have a few complaints though: 1) This unit (and I guess all Pioneers) do not play DVD +R discs. This is huge for me, because I have my entire collection of DVDs that I've copied to +R discs. And I can't use them in this unit. I'm not sure what the deal with Pioneer is here, because of all the car stereo manufacturers, they seem to be only one that has this limitation. 2) The Bluetooth doesn't work like I would like it to for cell phone use. The audio is quiet and I have to turn the sound up really high to hear. Also, the other person hears all the road noise that I hear. I would have expected some type of noise canceling, so the other person wouldn't have to hear all that. FWIW, my only other experience with car calling was in a vehicle preinstalled with Onstar.

Just installed this unit myself yesterday in my 2007 WRX. I had the "premium" sound package from Subaru, but it was just terrible. This unit makes all the difference in the world - it sounds incredible. A very powerful sound, and works great with the factory speakers. All functions work as advertised, and Crutchfield does a great job with instructions and harnesses. I was very surprised at the power - much better than other units I was testing. I chose this model because of all the inputs being accessible from the front without running wires.

What can I say? this unit does everything I needed and then some. The interface is extremely intuitive, the hook-ups were fast and neat, and the unit has had no issues with the user interface like some other radios do. There is plenty of clean power for my tastes and the D/A converter is much better sounding that the one built into my iPod. The only thing to watch out for is the cable connections on the back when trying to mount in an older GM (Jimmy, blazer, bravada). The factory bracket blocks a couple of jacks, so it will need to be notched to allow all the connections to be made. All in all, I've been happy with this radio for the last 3 months.. let's hope that it holds up over time.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Positives--I've only been using this a couple of weeks but I am really digging this stereo. I've had 2 other iPod/iPhone ready stereos within the last few years, this is my 3rd and best so far. Navigating the menus on my iPhone 3GS couldn't be easier, very quick, slows down some with a 160Gb iPod while it's reading the contents. Built in blue tooth, and plenty of pre-outs. Option to add in to navigation someday is a big plus. Steering wheel control input is awesome to have. You can load 1 picture off a CD and use it as a background. boots up quickly, simple menus. Negatives--there really isn't a lot to talk about in this category. Wish the iPod/iPhone would charge while a SD card is inserted. Wish the manuals were organized better and I didn't have to jump around so much to get the info I'm looking for, otherwise the info is there, just harder to find.

    Great for the Price

Pascal from Miami Fl. on 3/31/2010

I installed the unit into My 2005 Nissan Pathfinder with almost no problems...However there are a couple things you can save money play music from ur Ipod you DO NOT need to buy their adapter, ur white sync cable works just fine... the only thing that I complain about is the remote control doesn't control more of the on screen Ipod options, except to skip to the next track...Playing DVD's while driving is illegal...but overall the unit made my bose system sound like a "booming" system it was well worth the money.

    No Rear USB port

Michael from West Coast. on 3/27/2010

This is supposed to be the true replacement for the P8000BT which was an excellent unit. However, Pioneer for some reason decided to put the USB port on the front of most of their 2010 models which IMHO is a mistake. The rear USB port allows the user to route the USB connection to some place out of sight. Having the USB ports on the front makes for an ugly and cluttered setup. Same goes for the 3.5mm auxiliary jack.

Don't let the BT part of the product name fool you. I've owned previous Pioneer units with BT in the product name that support hands free calling and A2DP streaming audio (playing music wirelessly via Bluetooth). I would only assume that this unit would do the same. For some reason, the new 2010 models from Pioneer do not support A2DP. If you have an iPhone, chances are you are interested in this feature just like I am. If streaming audio is not your thing, then everything about this unit is superb. However, not having streaming audio was enough for me to return it and go with the 4200DVD + CD-BTB200 combo. I knew a DVD + A2DP unit for this price was too good to be true...

    Excellent Product. Great Company(s)!!!

    - I just recently installed this head unit into my vehicle and I think that is extremely well made and has a more modern, user friendly, and overall easier to use interface than other touch-screen head units out there. I really enjoy the EQ settings and adjustments as well as the look and ease of using the built-in features. The unit has Bluetooth which works very well. I have a old Samsung SGHA707 and it connects/ makes calls easily. The screen is superb, very clear and it has adjustable viewing ratios. Ipod search/navigation controls are helpful in finding deeply buried music(album art is small). The supplied wiring harness, dash kit(stock looking, high quality), wiring diagrams made the self-install quick and clean. --- Thanks Crutchfield.

    Great Unit

    russ from Chicago on 3/16/2010

I love this head unit! Shame on Crutchfield for not keeping enough stock. The bluetooth quality is great, although the preset dial lists don't work. Tons of flexibility, video look great, slick display, and I love how it scrolls through songs. The only other niggle is the customization of the display. You can choose from a million different colors for the buttons backlight, and you can also download your own jpeg to use as a background, which is great. The only problem is that there's only 5 color theme choices for the display text, none of which are very good. Still, just minor quirks of an overall excellent head unit.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great head unit. I have a 05 Tacoma and the installation was quick and easy. I had been looking for a new head unit for some time, and this met all the qualifcations. BT built in, DVD, and Touch! in a double DIN unit and for under 500.00. I pre ordered this before Crutchfield even had them and got it earlier than expected!! It was great! I too have an Iphone and the album art is jaggy which is odd. DVD's look bomb and the sound is great! love the fact it has an 8 band EQ so I can adjust my MP3's and other audio at will. I would have liked a rear USB slot but no big deal for me, the USB in the front works great! Def reccomend this to others!

    Just what the doctor ordered!

Anonymous from Clinton, MS on 3/9/2010

I really love the features this device has to offer. The dvds look great, and the sound quality is amazing (with some eq tweaking of course, but that's what 8 bands are for). I'm happy the usb is in the front instead of the back because I like to unplug my usb to use with my computer. With my Iphone the album art is very pixelated, but with my Ipod it's not. I don't know if it's a bug with the Iphone but it is annoying. The hands free is great, I installed the microphone with ease in a good spot. I've made calls with it and everybody has told me it sounds like I have the phone to my ear. I did try to play a video off my ipod and the sound came through, but I didn't get any picture. I need to try a different video because it may have been the encoding with that one. I don't like the fact you have to buy Pioneer's microphone to make use of the auto eq feature. I have a very nice JBL pink noise microphone made to be used with monitor control stations, and I don't want to buy a second microphone just for auto eqing. I guess I'll stick to the old ear method. One last thing that I really like about this unit is the fact that the Pioneer logo is small, so if a thief were looking in they couldn't see it and they'd think it was just the stock navi unit. Hopefully I won't have to worry about that since I park in a garage at home and a parking garage that's well secured at work.

    Nice Unit

Jason from Rochester, NY on 3/5/2010

First off, a rear usb is not advertised just look in the specs of this unit, under usb connection it just says "front". Second, this is a great unit. Good pre-amp voltage good display and its organized very well. You don't need the owners manual to use this reciever. It has great sound with my factory speakers and i'm hooking up a pioneer sub soon which im sure will sound great.

    great functionality....but

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed my 3200bt a week ago and have already made a road trip with it installed, so I have a bit of time with using it. I found it's function to be top shelf....but a few details I do not like about it. There is no rear usb, so my ipod is pluged in and the cable is visible, a minor complaint at worst, but I still would have rathered a rear usb in addition to the front. Second gripe is the album art display is very poor, which struck me odd because dvd's are very sharp. Last minor gripe is a buzzing noise when using bluetooth, may be my Iphone may be the 3200BT, either way after a few moments of talking you forget its there. All in all I do recomend this unit, and am not regreting my purchase at all, it does everything I want it to do, and does it all pretty well.

I just received my receiver the other day and had it installed today. At first glance the receiver looked very nice with a good build quality. Once they had it installed I was able to play with the features. Let me tell you this receiver is worth the price. Menus are smooth as well as the touch interface works seemlessly and is very responsive. Lots of equalizer options and settings to make this deck work for you. If your on the fence about purchasing this item, dont be. Definately the best receiver ive owned.

Great radio - but beware on the Bluetooth!

falkingham from Epping, NH on 2/24/2010

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Buyer beware, all 2010 Pioneer radios with 'built-in' bluetooth do not support A2DP! In order to stream music, you will need to purchase the Bluetooth add on kit. Save a little money, and buy the non-BT version and then buy the kit. This is not well documented, but there you have it. Great radio all around, I love it, I'm just ticked off that I was sold something that does not exist in any 2010 Pioneer radio.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit is supposed to be the ultimate in iPod integration but it does not even have the rear usb connection that was advertised. To get rear usb you have to buy the AVH p4200DVD and then add a Bluetooth adapter. Anyway sending mine back and won't be buying electronics from Crutchfields again as they should have confirmed this before shipping the item.

    Pretty Sweet Head Unit

DjOutlaw32 from Las Vegas, NV on 2/22/2010

Great display, customization of screen image and button colors is awesome. Bluetooth has an issue, it only allows phone calls, no bluetooth audio. I have tried different phones and all have same outcome unfortunately. The head unit does allow you to transfer your phone contacts if your phone has avrcp (bluetooth extension) only. Sound is rich and clear and gives you three pre-outs so that you can connect your sub straight the to headunit without modifications. Great headunit with the exception of the bluetooth. Oh and it tells time by 12hr and 24hrs unlike the older model that would display 1830 instead of 630pm. Score 4 out of 5

    Display Features

2-DIN Chassis: The Pioneer AVH-P3200BT has a 2-DIN chassis (also known as "Double DIN" or size DD), and will fit in many vehicles with a large dash opening. The unit can be ISO-mounted using factory brackets.

Note: As always, please consult the Crutchfield Car Selector to verify fit with your vehicle.

5.8" TFT LCD Touchscreen Color Display: The AVH-P3200BT features a 5.8" TFT Active Matrix, 16:9 wide screen touch-screen display. The resolution of the display is 1440 x 240 for a total of 345,600 pixels. The touch panel allows you to control this unit and a paired Bluetooth device, or a connected component such as an iPod, Satellite radio receiver, HD Radio tuner, or USB Flash memory. Menus appear on screen for making function choices, audio adjustments, and setting up the system. The unit has a front-loading disc-slot to make loading your disc easier because there is no panel to slide or fold-down.

Note: The fixed touchscreen display is not removable.

Video Adjustments: You can store numerous video settings for each source and the optional rear view camera; including brightness (adjusts the black intensity), contrast (adjusts contrast) color (adjusts color saturation), hue (adjusts the tone of color), temperature (adjust the color temperature), RGB (adjusts phase shifting), and black level (emphasizes dark portions of images).

Widescreen Modes: You can choose from the following widescreen modes when playing back video:

    • Full: A 4:3 picture is enlarged in the horizontal direction only, enabling you to enjoy a 4:3 picture without any omissions.
    • Just: The picture is enlarged slightly at the center and the amount of enlargement increases horizontally toward the ends of the picture.
    • Zoom: A 4:3 picture is enlarged in the same proportion both vertically and horizontally; ideal for a 16:9 screen.
    • Cinema: A picture is enlarged by the same proportion as Full or Zoom in the horizontal direction and by an intermediate proportion between Full and Zoom in the vertical direction.
    • Normal: A 4:3 picture is displayed as it is.

On Screen Display Color And Background Adjustment: The color of the on-screen display can be set to red, amber, green, blue or white. The background can be set to one of seven preset background images, a stored JPEG image, a video image from the external input, the clock, or turned Off.

Front-Panel Controls With Adjustable Illumination: In addition to the touchscreen controls, the unit includes frequently used buttons along the left edge of the screen. The color of the button illumination can be set to red, amber, green, blue, white, or scan (constantly cycling through the color spectrum). You can also create a custom color using the unit's on-screen menu.

Dimmer: To prevent the display from being too bright at night, the display is automatically dimmed when the car's headlights are turned on. You can turn the dimmer on or off. The automatic dimmer function only works when the orange/white illumination wire in the wiring harness is connected to the vehicle's headlight circuit.

Parking Brake Interlock: This unit has a parking brake interlock system that prohibits viewing of video programming and operating certain controls when the vehicle is in motion. In order to watch video on the in-dash monitor, the vehicle must be parked with the parking brake engaged.

    Audio Section

MOSFET50 Internal Amplifier: This receiver is equipped with a 50 watts x 4 (peak) MOSFET amplifier for low distortion, high power output. The amplifier is strong enough to power small subwoofers to moderate volume levels in compact cars and pickups. For higher volume levels from subwoofers, an optional amplifier may be connected to the preamp outputs.

CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the AVH-P3200BT are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers. The power output specs are as follows:

    • CEA2006 Specs: 14 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Continuous Power Output: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 50Hz-15kHz, 5% THD)
    • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels (or 50 watts x 2 channels at 4 ohms + 70 watts x 1 channel at 2 ohms for subwoofer)

EEQ (Easy EQ): there are seven stored equalizer curves which you can easily recall at any time. You can choose from - Powerful, Natural, Vocal, Super Bass, Flat, Custom 1, or Custom 2.

    8-Band Graphic EQ: The Custom 1 and Custom 2 EQ modes allow you to manually adjust the level (+/- 12dB) of each band of the headunit's 8-band graphic equalizer (40Hz, 80Hz, 200Hz, 400Hz, 1kHz, 2.5kHz, 8kHz, and10kHz).

Auto EQ (Optional): The auto-equalizer automatically measures your car's interior acoustic characteristics, and then creates an auto-equalizer curve base on that information. The Pioneer CD-MC20 Auto-EQ microphone (130CDMC20, sold separately) is required to use this function. The Pioneer CD-MC20 Auto-EQ microphone plugs into your compatible Pioneer A/V receiver's front-panel 3.5mm input. The Auto-EQ microphone should be placed in the center of your vehicle's driver seat headrest facing forward for EQ measurement.

Sonic Center Control: Sound that is suited for the listening position can easily be created with this function. You can adjust sound more toward the listening position left (7) to right (7).

Loudness: The Loudness function compensates for deficiencies in the low- and high-frequency ranges at low volume. You can set the Loudness to High, Mid, Low, or Off.

Bass Boost: You can easily boost the subwoofer bass level by using the Bass Boost function. The Bass Boost feature allows you increase the subwoofer level from 0 to +6.

Sound Retriever: The Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. When Sound Retriever is on, the high frequency range is compensated to match the frequency response curve to the original sound. There are two available levels of the Sound Retriever effect.

Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM tuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4 dB to +4 dB.

Three 4-Volt Preamp Outputs: The Pioneer AVH-P3200BT is equipped with three 4-Volt preamp outputs (Front/Rear/Subwoofer). The front and rear speakers are fading with high-pass crossover filters, while the subwoofer output is non-fading with a low-pass crossover filter.

    • Front and Rear Preamp Outputs: If you do not want low frequency sounds to play from the front or rear speaker preamp outputs (or speaker outputs), you can turn on the 12dB/octave High Pass Filter. The HPF has a selectable cutoff frequency (50, 63, 80, 100, or 125 Hz). Only frequencies higher than those in the selected range are output through the speakers.
    • Subwoofer Output: The unit has a pair of dedicated non-fading RCA subwoofer outputs with a low-pass filter, phase adjustment, and output level. When the subwoofer output is turned on, you can select the frequency of the 18dB/octave low pass filter (50, 63, 80, 100, or 125 Hz), select the subwoofer phase (normal/reverse), and the subwoofer gain (+6 to -24).

Rear Channel Speaker Output: You can choose to use the rear channel output (speaker and preout) for full-range speaker or subwoofer. If you select "subwoofer", you can connect a 4-ohm subwoofer directly to each rear speaker lead, or a 2-ohm subwoofer to one of the rear speaker leads, without using an external amplifier.

Telephone Mute/Attenuator: Sound from your system is muted or attenuated automatically when a phone signal is received when you have hardwired your mobile phone system to the mute wire of this unit.

    Radio Functions

Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.

BSM (Best Stations Memory): BSM lets you automatically store the six strongest stations under preset buttons 1-6 of the currently tuned band. The tuner has 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can store 6 presets for each bank giving you a total of 18 FM presets and 6 AM presets.

Local Tuning: Local seek tuning lets you tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for good reception. There are 4 level of sensitivity for FM and two levels for AM. The higher settings allow reception of only the strongest stations, while lower settings let you receive progressively weaker stations.

Satellite Radio Ready: You can connect and control an external satellite radio tuner from XM or SIRIUS. The head unit is compatible with the GEX-P920XM (130P920XM, sold separately) Pioneer XM receiver. For Sirius there are two options; connect the SC-C1 SiriusConnect Universal Vehicle tuner and the CD-SB10 Pioneer Sirius Satellite Radio interface (700SIRPION, sold separately), or use the Pioneer Sirius Satellite Radio interface (130CDSB10, sold separately) and the SIRIUS dock-and-play adapter (607SCVDOC1, sold separately) along with a compatible portable SIRIUS radio. A subscription to XM or Sirius, plus the proper antenna is required in order to receive satellite radio programming. The satellite radio tuners connect via the IP-Bus connector on the back of the head unit.

HD Radio Ready: This unit is compatible with the optional Pioneer GEX-P20HD HD Radio tuner (130GEXP20H, sold separately) allowing you to tune available HD Radio stations. HD Radio features high quality audio, FM multi-casting, and data services. The add-on HD Radio tuner also supports iTunes Tagging which allows you to save song information (tag) from an HD Radio broadcasting station to your connected iPod or iPhone. The saved songs will show up in a playlist called "Tagged" in iTunes the next time you sync your iPod. Then you can directly buy the songs you want from the iTunes Music Store. The optional HD Radio tuner connects through the headunit's IP-BUS interface.

Note: Right now there are about 2,000 radio stations broadcasting using digital HD Radio technology in the U.S. To find HD Radio stations in your area, visit the HD Radio website (

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth Technology: The AVH-P3200BT is equipped with built-in Bluetooth (ver. 2.0) allowing to  make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver. Bluetooth Technology is a short-range wireless radio connectivity technology that was developed as a cable replacement for mobile phones and other electronic devices. Bluetooth operates in 2.4 GHz frequency range and transmits voice and data at speeds up to 1 megabit per second. In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following: HFP (Hands Free Profile), HSP (Head Set Profile), and OPP (Object Push Profile).

Phone Pairing: Up to 5 Bluetooth-compatible devices can be registered to this head unit. Only one device can be used at a time.

Note: Not all Bluetooth mobile devices will be compatible. Visit Pioneer's web site for a complete list of compatible Bluetooth enabled phones.

Hands-Free Communication: The AVH-P3200BT supports wireless hands-free communication (HFP/HSP/OPP) for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. The headunit will display the caller's information and an audible ring tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker during an incoming call. You can manually answer an incoming call or have the unit automatically answer the call. The AVH-P3200BT allows you to carry on a phone conversation from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone using the headunit's external microphone and your car audio speakers. During a conversation you can adjust the volume, as well as switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode. Using the AVH-P3200BT, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways:

    • Entering a Phone Number: You can make a call by entering the phone number using the headunit's on-screen keypad (0-9, *, #, +, C).
    • Speed (Preset) Dialing: You can easily store up to six phone numbers as presets for speed dialing.
    • Phone Book: The phone book in your Bluetooth enabled cellular phone will be transferred automatically when the phone is paired to this unit. After finding the number you want to call in the phone book, you can select the entry and make the call. If a lot of numbers are registered in the phone book, you can search for the phone number by alphabet search mode.
    • Call Log: The 80 most recent calls dialed, received, and missed are stored in memory. You can browse them and call numbers from these lists.

External Microphone: During your wireless phone call, you can talk into the head unit's included microphone, and listen to the other party through the vehicle's speaker system. The microphone features a 13' cord that plugs into the back of the radio, and comes with an adjustable visor-mount clip.

    AV Connections

AV Auxiliary Input: The AVH-P3200BT has an AV 3.5mm mini-jack auxiliary input on the front-panel panel for connecting a portable audio/video device. In addition, you can connect an audio only auxiliary device using an optional IP-Bus-RCA adapter (130CDRB10 or 130CDRB20, both sold separately).

AV RCA Input: There is a rear-panel A/V input (composite video/stereo RCA audio) for connecting a video component such as a VCR or game console.

AV Output: The AVH-P3200BT features a rear-panel composite RCA video/3.5mm audio output that allows you to connect an external display to the unit. You can playback audio/video content from a DVD/CD disc, the front AV input, the rear AV input, or the same source as the built-in monitor. You can select the unit to output a 16:9, Letter-Box or Pan-Scan aspect ratio to match your external display's screen size.

Note: You cannot play DivX files on the unit's monitor and a connected external monitor at the same time.

Rear View Camera: The AVH-P3200BT is equipped with a composite video Rear View Camera input. The head unit features a function that automatically switches to the rear camera image (Rear View Camera In jack) when an optional rear camera (such as the 130NDBC2 or 130NDBC4, sold separately) is installed on your vehicle. When your vehicle's shift lever is in the reverse position, the screen automatically switches to the rear view camera (the purple/white wire in the wiring harness must be connected to the vehicle's reverse lamp circuit for automatic video switching).

Navigation Ready: The Pioneer AVH-P3200BT is equipped with a proprietary multi-pin jack which allows you to connect the Pioneer AVIC-U220 add-on navigation unit (130AVIC220, sold separately).

    Remote Control

Optional Remote Control: The AVH-P3200BT does not include a remote control. The optional CD-R55 wireless remote control (130CDR55, sold separately) can be used with this unit.

Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility: The headunit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input on the rear of the unit to allow you to keep your vehicle's radio steering wheel remote controls when used with the optional PAC SWI-PS Steering Wheel Control Interface Adapter (127SWIPS, sold separately); or the optional Metra ASWC Steering Wheel Control Interface Adapter (120ASWC, sold separately).
