Overview

Our take on the Pioneer DEH-P6000UB

You want a car stereo that plays your favorite media and offers easy control of your car audio system. Pioneer's DEH-P6000UB CD receiver fits the bill. It plays MP3, WMA, and AAC files on disc, features a USB input and built-in iPod® controls, and offers a rear auxiliary input, satellite radio controls, and other expansion options. You can even add an optional Bluetooth® adapter and use your compatible phone to take calls through your car's speakers.

But the DEH-P6000UB really shines in ease of control. You'll see system information, menus, and song titles shown on a bright Organic Electro-Luminescent (OEL) display that's easy to read at almost any angle. Pioneer's Rotary Commander interface allows you to find your favorite songs or change system settings with a touch of a button and a twist of the large control knob. The 10-key remote control gives you a level of control you won't find with simple 3- or 4-button remotes.

The 7-band equalizer allows extensive adjustment of your music's tonal balance, while the Sound Retriever breathes new life into flat-sounding music files by restoring information lost in compression. When your iPod is connected to the USB input, the receiver bypasses your iPod's built-in digital-to-analog converter, using its high-quality DAC to deliver your music files with the highest fidelity possible. High-pass and low-pass filters let you adjust the range of frequencies you send to your speakers. Connect amplifiers and subwoofers to the three sets of high-voltage preamp outputs if you're building a high-powered car audio system.

Note: If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver.

Amazing deck that still keeps pace with modern ones

MG from Nashville, TN on 11/1/2015

What an amazing deck, after feeling it was time to upgrade, I quickly went back to this deck after less than a year of using the "newer" deck. It amazes me that the display on this deck is still on par with new/expensive decks. Why do so many new HUs still use the clock style display? It's 2015! Needless to say, this deck is still much better than even newer decks. 7 band EQ? No problem. Most new decks have two, maybe three. So Lame! So many useful features exist on this unit that it's not going to be obsolete anytime soon. I used to have a Premier 600 version of this unit but stupidly sold it. The 6000 is essentially the same unit so no biggie. Check online for a used one! They pop up every now and then. Cons are that it doesn't work very well with iPhone 6. It does work! But it will sometimes stop playing if you try to skip tracks or answer calls. 90% of the time, maps and music work together no problem, with normal music fade out (turn left) music fade in sequence. The only major problem with this HU is the faceplate connection is not good, especially in cold weather, and it intermittently turns off, or flakes out. I cleaned the contacts and Carefully pulled the pins on the receiver (so they stick out more). This has corrected the issue for now (too early to tell for sure) but wiggling it around has not been able to reproduce any loss of connection.

Pros: Much more EQ customization options than even 2015 decks have. Plenty of volume and subwoofer/speaker filter options as well. Display on par/better than most 2015 units (this is a unit that is almost 10 years old!)

Cons: Doesn't work with iPhone 6 (sometimes!) Poor faceplate connection in cold weather (clean contacts with alcohol and carefully pull pins on receiver -I used a sharp o-ring puller-) and this should remedy the issue.

    Amazing

Marc from Roseville, Ca on 2/21/2013

Ive had this deck for about 5-6 years now and it is absolutely amazing. the controls are easy once you get a little used to the device, usb works for ipod, flash drive, and even droids. never had a problem with sound quality or adjusting levels. the hide display button is quite useful for night driving when you dont need the extra light shinning in your eyes. I cant believe it took me until a few months ago to realize the band button and display button turns off the reverse mode and the demo mode (very very helpful when your battery goes out constantly like mine does...) I would never buy any other deck, and probably wont have to for another good 5-10 years or so.

Pros: Easy to use, great display, good sound adjustment options with 2 custom EQ's USB works with ipods USB and Droids (havent tried anything else that would possibly work) the display is nice and has an option to turn off reverse mode (if those complaining about it would just go to the main settings by holding down the select button when its off)

Cons: USB does not power up devices that are totally dead, This is the ONLY PROBLEM i have had with this Deck. Really REALLY freaking annoying that the usb doesnt just constantly supply power or even has an option to provide power for 10-15 seconds just to see if something is connected and whether or not it can charge it.

I gave it four stars because of the menu options, but i am fairly pleased at how the remote controls alot of the functions, without having to mess with the knob. But overall the sound in this thing is awesome. I bought it for my gf on her birthday and was really surprised at the quality coming out with just the stock speakers. And i am throwing in some mb quarts coaxials so then more sound will come out. I wish this product was not dc'd. I have an eclipse 3100 with an eclipse ipod adaptor module in my vehicle, and it is great, but i am surprised at how well this unit sounds

When I was shopping for a new head unit I was needing three main things. Adjustable crossovers, a USB input, and compressed music file readability. This has it all. Seven band EQ, TWO USB inputs and it reads evrything I've thrown in it. All at a lower price than what a dealer friend of mine could get it for at his cost. You just can't beat it for that kind of money. If I ever had to I would buy another one. No questions asked!

I bought this receiver when looking to get something with a rear Aux plug to hide my XM and iPod cables. The USB hook up makes running the iPod a beautiful thing. The graphic displays are pretty cool as well, and there a lot to choose from. As with a lot of newer receivers however, in an attempt to make it slick and minimal, there are not a lot of buttons and it is tricky to figure out some things (how to display the time, for example)...but most things are easier with the remote. The sound is very customizable with a ton of a EQ options, so it makes this a very versatile unit as well. Overall, I'm very happy with it and would recommend it for anybody.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought a DEH-P4600 a few years ago and was stunned at the quality for the price. This year, I got my brother hooked up with this head unit and I am thoroughly jealous of the insane control this unit offers as well as the amazing quality that's bumping through his new kicker 6x9's. He figured out how to bring up a letter scroll just like the iPod does (Which was a problem mentioned in earlier reviews). Just click list while you're in the artists or song lists and a letter will pop up. Play with it a little and it becomes natural to scroll through the iPod effortlessly. For the price, I couldn't recommend a better cd player. I'm honestly very confused as to how anybody could be unsatisfied with this unit because of the lack of control (as some people mentioned earlier). And btw, it doesn't start up at the iPod when you have it plugged in. It starts at whatever source you had it on when you last had it on. This cd player is truly unbelievable for the price, quality, control, and potential. From what I understand, it can even be connected to your stock wheel controls. The display off button is one that I always wanted and now that I have seen one, I am in awe. At night it can be irritating to have the display on. Pioneer, congratulations on making the most streamlined, capable, and affordable cd player I have ever gotten my hands on. If this cd player isn't enough for you, chances are high that your sound appetite is insatiable.

This unit is awesome! You'll need to play around with the controls for a little bit to get used to it, but it's actually very simple once you've got it down. I will suggest to anyone with a Jeep Grand Cherokee with an Infinity Premium system that you don't use the harness that is supplied because it doesn't send enough power to the main speakers; the tweeters will take most of the hit so by using the supplied harness you WILL blow your speakers. you'll need to get a harness that has a low input cable attached to the harness. anywho, great product, and awesome free shipping. i got the package in 2 days!! I strongly recommend this head unit

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have been searching for a HU for months and I end up choosing the Pioneer DEH-P6000UB. The newer models of Pioneers almost have the same specs as the DEH-P6000UB but with a higher price tag and this has a larger multi-control knob which makes it easier to navigate. This is my first Pioneer HU and the free installation gear fits perfectly with an easy snapping of some parts to fit on my RAV4 and the installation was a breeze and everything turns out perfect. Navigating through the menus is easy but needs some buttons just for the loudness control and tuning the sound was a little bit complicated but easy and what I meant about complicated but easy is that you have lots of option to configure the sound quality that matched your speakers so you can control the clarity & bass coming out of it without any distortions. All I can say is I did not regret my purchase and I'm planning to change my stock speakers to appreciate the sound better. My conclusion on this unit is it looks great, sounds great, usb & aux input is great, sound setting has many options with is fantastic and the "needs improvement" thing is the FM sensitivity needs improvement, should have an optional built in amplifier off switch like the kenwoods to enhance the player's preamp output quality and it should have the 24bit DA converter be standard in all Pioneers HU not the 1bit DA converter.

I bought this unit to upgrade the factory unit, which has a cd changer that was going out, because I have had other Pioneer CD radios from Crutchfield before and was totally satisfied with them. As usual, the unit went in my 2003 F-150 with no problems, using the adapters sent by Crutchfield. The most time spent was wiring up the adapter harness to the units, with the actual installation taking maybe 10 minutes! The unit itself sounds and looks great! Took a few minutes to fiqure out the controls, (read the owners manual!) and get it set up. Thanks Crutcfield, I will buy again from you!

I bought this radio for my wifes 96 Camry. She is happy with it, but I have to say it the best car audio receiver I have owned. I have been playing with these gadgets for over ten years and it is great! It has great sound, and works well with the I pod, fun to set up and a great screen display. If I were you, I wouldn't think twice about buying this product!

This was my first purchase from Crutchfield. I was very satisfied with the service, and the stereo was simple to install with the instructions and hardware provided. CONS: To navigate the menu's took a little getting used to. I'm not one for manuals, but literally if you spend 5 minutes reading the manual, you'll fully understand how to navigate all the menus. First thing to do when you get this radio is put the cd in you computer and print out the 70+ page manual, everything is in there that you need. Everyone that complains about the beeping noises and other stuff is in there on how to turn it off. I bought mainly for the usb port, i use a 16 gig flash drive with it, after a little playing around with it you have to becareful how you copy and paste file to the flash drive. Windows automatically sorts file apha. order, this radio does not (that i found anyway) it plays then in the order you put them on the drive. So if you want the in apha order you have to copy them to the drive in that order. If you had music to your drive best thing to do is delete and re copy everything that way it stays in apha order. It has a ton of features and if you do not print out the manual you will not find half of them. This radio is using 2 amps a orion xtr450 and a m44, i got 2 12" sub woofers in the truck, and a pair of wave guides under the dash, with 2 6" mid range in my kick panels, still deciding for my 2 way 6" or 8" in the rear deck of my 1985 M535i bmw. To anyone looking for a radio with usb port buy this one, the price is right, and it does a great job of supporting usb flash drives. It also support about 4 different audio formats, so i use wav files for my music, Mp3 lose to much quality.

This unit is pretty cool so far! I just installed this yesterday--my first time installing a car stereo. Crutchfield made it pretty easy. They pre-cut many of the wires for my harness kit which saved me time in the install. While the line was busy a few times, the knowledgable and professional Crutchfield technical support team was invaluable in assisting me with install and I did not even really look at the directions. Please note that the directions are on a CD so take a good look before hand and print off any materials you think you'll need unless you'll be close to a computer where you can reference them. In agreement with other users (NISSAN XTERRA OWNERS), I must warn you that the plastic piece of trim that is supposed to go on the outside of the unit does not fit so you will be able to see the sleeve that goes around the radio. That is why I am only giving four stars. It does not look bad enough to warrant disassembling and returning the product, but it is less than ideal. The sound is fantastic. I bought the extra USB for the car, but it is not entirely necessary. The unit comes with a long cable that extends the USB port considerably so if you don't mind using the one that came with your Ipod, you can use it without a problem.

I bought this after my very decent Sony Xplod was stolen. I wanted a rear USB, AUX in, 7-band eq and an OEL screen. this has it all and for this price, it's awesome. I like this unit MUCH better than the new pioneer units that feel plasticy. this one is solid and just a clean look. Classic Pioneer. This is my second pioneer and i love the controls. very easy. I didn't even have to look at the manual for much if any. Sound is clear of course. the USB is great and quick. Pioneer is said to be the best with that. Buy it already, where else will you get a head unit with all these options and a harness for this price? I am thinking of buying another one and keeping it in case i need another for this price!

First things first, hugely satisfied with Crutchfield and their service, comprehensive installation information, plus the couple times that i had to call customer service was pleasant and effective. The product itself is lightyears beyond my old 2yo Pioneer deck. I think I bought my old deck for the same price. Navigation took about a week to get used to, and very intuitive. Pros: USB connection in the back is huge, connect iPod or USB stick and keep in glove compartment. User interface very easy to learn, quick for most things. A lot of options to optimize sound quality. Cons: iPod artist/song searching tedious (as is with most mid-range decks), I just make playlists and I'm fine. Could have been easier to connect Civic wires to deck wires, had to buy connectors at store (Crutchfield specific) Doesn't cure cancer.

I upgraded my factory stereo last year with a Sony "XPLOD" CDX-GT320, it was ok but I needed a more outputs and some new feature so I bought this. WOW what a difference. I thought the sony was great, this is 10 times better. I have an amplifier on its way to power my Pioneer speakers I installed last year but I really could not install it and be ok. The output power is crisp on this unit compared to the sony. I bought the new amp a few days before I bought the head unit because the sony didn't have enough power, I could hear the underpowered speakers struggling with the SONY. With the PIONEER there is NO struggle, the volume goes to "62" at max output and is still relatively crisp at 60. WOW. This unit is more powerful by far and in the same price range. The EQ settings and BUILT IN crossover work great. Not just a low pass filter for the subwoofer but there is a built in High Pass filter for your speakers which really take the load off of them with no extra expensive equipment needed. WHAT A PLUS. I love this unit and would recommend it highly!

After much research and comparing i decided on this unit mainly because of it's ipod compatibility. I don't know much about car audio or anything, i was just looking for a quality head unit with good sound and a nice look to help my old 2000 Silverado along. I gotta say the difference is much greater than i expected. The sound quality is noticeably improved and it looks great!! Especially at night with that blue backlight :) but what really sold me was the ipod controls. you can control the ipod through the unit itself which is a huge plus! The only complaint i really have is its hard to get used to at first, and you have to do a lot turning on the dial to cycle through your artists and such but once you get used to it, it's great!! I recommend this unit to anyone who's looking for a quality system with good ipod controls. You won't be dissapointed

The power from the built-in amp provides consistent, quality audio. The unit's iPod controls are easy to use and have made it simple to plug in our entire music catalog on the go. I was so impressed by the unit's features at such a low price that I ordered a second to replace my 120gb mp3 player in my truck. I would buy again anytime. The controls are simple once you understand them, took me maybe a day or so to customize all the settings and understand the buttons. I found the remote to be useful actually and its easy to use as well. The wiring was fairly simple, it was the installation that took forever because I had to modify my dash to make it fit. After sanding it down, the receiver fits into the spot nicely. The beeping noise is really not that annoying at all, I forgot it was there. Not every time you change something does it beep, only certain controls. When the screen is in direct sunlight its difficult to read but who cares, thats why there are playlists or you can just listen through an album, or use the remote. It's really a great system and I am thoroughly impressed with Pioneer. Btw, I am running 3/1'2 Blaupunkts in the front, and 5X7 sony x-plods in the back. This has all the high and mids covered nicely in the small car, but I really need some bass. Going to be putting in a powered subwoofer soon. Either an under the seat mount or bazooka tube.

This unit's over-simplified "multi-function" control makes it very confusing to use without practice, and often I find myself guessing which way to press the jog wheel in order to achieve the result I desire. It is not very intuitive to use. They could have had better user-interaction testing and stuck a few more buttons on the faceplate and it would be far easier and not any uglier.

Pros: It sounds good. But so do the Kenwoods, Sony's, et. al. in this price range. Cons: The multifunction control is Horrible! You have to press the center to activate audio functions, etc. But it's near impossible to do so without accidentally changing the station or CD track. Unless you drive a 1979 Cadillac you will not be able to access the functions menu while the vehicle is moving. You cannot read the OLED display with polarized sunglasses. The display is annoying! Even in it's simplest mode, it is constantly reversing colors. Very distracting. Too many settings to change the Bass. Geez. And with a subwoofer you will find you need to change the bass settings every time you switch from tuner to CD or USB. Sorry I spent my money, just goes to show that you need to buy this sort of thing in person so you can try it out, and see the display. Pioneer? Never again.

Would put high on my list if buying again, but will look for one that does not beep.

Pro's: I love that I can have the stereo, my Sirius Radio, CD Player, and iPod all hooked up at the same time and readily available at my finger tips without unplugging one and plugging in the other in it's place. The sound is incredible. The RCA, AUX, & USB connections are in the back of the radio. It's easy to configure the default settings as well. Cons: Not much here, but here they are ... I don't care for one small thing about the iPod interface, and that's that there's no search feature at all. So, setup your playlists before connecting if you don't want to have to scroll so much. The only other con I have is that you get a USB extension cable, but nothing for the AUX input. I think as cheap as the mini-to-mini cable and a splitter is, that this might be able to be included in the future. However, I'm sure Pioneer and other manufacturers would say the same to us purchasing what we want/need as well since it IS cheap to buy. All-in-all, this is a great system and I only gave it 4 stars because there's always room for improvement and this unit has a little room, but nothing major in my eyes. Good luck in your search and I hope this review helps. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone on a slight budget but looking for great features as well.

What a fantastic unit! Works great with my 3G Iphone streaming my Itunes and Pandora and i switched it to control everything on screen with my phone instead of the unit. I can still go to the next track on my remote so its cool. i read my song list through the phone instead of that small screen. Contrary to prior posts it does have a HPF to help with the correct sounds from the right speakers. Coming from one Pioneer unit to another i was suprised at the difference in sound quality and how much it improved. I had a previous DEH-P6500 Pioneer unit and was happy and this new one is so much better. The remote and front face is a little challenging as far as the settings but in a day or so you will be a pro!

I upgraded from a kenwood KDC-MP528. I wanted a new cd player because mine was old. i bought this unit because ipod control came built in. The seven band EQ and 4 volt pre amp outs help sell it to me. After waiting the three days for shipping i slapped it in right away. it took a little getting used to the one knob since i was using a kenwood with two knobs. i liked the display, there are nice backrounds to pick from. EQ is nice, pre amp outs are strong. remote works well, and is convienent that you can get to your playlists with it. the motorized face plate was nice too since my kenwood was the same way. i was dissapointed when there were not high pass filters for my full range speakers. the sound quality with my kenwood, in my opinion, was a bit better. the only others issue really, is that the manual comes on a cd. i do not own a computer. so this is really annoying if i want to look something up.

I purchased this deck 5 months ago through crutchfield, and clear since the day installed it I have been verry happy with the product. For the younger, technological generations, learning to use this device is a sinch. I personally had it figured out within 10 minutes of just playing around on it. some things I like I rarely see mentioned: the EQ selection is great. you can use the EQ to adjust your system, and there are additionally bass control that adjusts all of your speakers, or a Sub-specific adjustment (the deck has three outputs for front speakers, rear speakers and a sub output to help the amp by not sending the wrong types of sound in the first place). with the i-pod adapter you can even select to view the list of all your playlists and songs through the deck with the click of one button. If you do not use an ipod, you can use the usb plugin and just insert a flash drive of your songs, and using the navigation stated above have that as a music source. The automatic flip-down face is quite the addition to give it that little cool factor when you have buddies in the car. I personally love this deck, and would strongly suggest that anybody purchace this deck looking to make the upgrade technologically advanced and worth while, yet not emptying your wallet in one swipe.

I would recommend it, the only bad thing is if you have a lot of songs on your ipod, it can take several minutes (or in my case with 1500 songs like 10 minutes) of clicking the button to get to the song you want, it doesn't skip to the different letters that the song starts with like the i pod does when you scroll really fast, and there is no fast/autoscroll

I primarily installed this stereo so I could listen to music from my iPhone 3G. It accomplishes the job well and appears to support all of my playlists. Additionally, when the iPhone is hooked up and I receive a phone call, it reduces the stereo volume and then mutes it so I can take the call. Wasn't even thinking about a feature like this so I was pleasantly surprised when this happened. Another nice feature is the ability to turn over the iTunes control to the iPhone itself as the iPhone does a better job of browsing. The multi-control was initially a littel confusing but once I read the manual and made myself more familiar with the radio's features, it was easy to use. The remote is a nice touch - it was something I wasn't too concerned with but once I started controlling the stereo with the remote, I don't think I could do without. This was my first experience with Crutchfield and Pioneer. I would deal with both again.

This is a great receiver. I was unhappy with using an FM tranmitter with my iPod through my stock stereo and finally decided to upgrade. I'm glad I did! The sound from my iPod is many times better and you can't beat having the controls right there on the faceplate. I do have to admit I was a bit uneasy from some of the reviews complaining about the controls and how touchy the dial was. Fortunately I've found that the controls are very intuitive and the dial takes just a few minutes to get used to. The sound options are huge and any audiophile can spend hours (I maybe exaggerating) playing around with the equalizer, subwoofer settings, or other details. The one thing I would say is a downside, yet didn't keep me from rating the system 5 stars, is that the user manual comes on CD. So unless you have a laptop you'll have to read it on your desktop, make notes and then head out to your vehicle to adjust the receiver's options. Call me old fashioned but I like a user manual that you can flip through.

I purchased this deck as a replacement for the DEH-P8500MP expecting the 7 band equalizer to give me better performance and was regretfully not satisfied. It was definitely a step backwards and not a wise purchase decision: - the spectrum analyzer (and choice of screen options) are very juvenile and are seriously lacking the fidelity that they should be (it has an annoying background and is not functionally correct) - the music is very flat compared to the fidelity of the DEH-P8500MP (very limited sound shaping tools) - a lot of simple functions like mute or pause have been buried 3 layers deep or have been offloaded to the remote (extremely cheesy) - the satellite radio functions have been completely offloaded to the remote which sucks , especially at night because the remote has no backlight so you have no clue what buttons your pushing unless you turn on the cabin light (not to mention that the text is so difficult to see on the remote, that you nearly have to crash into the car in front of you before you can find the right button!) This is probably good as a first radio, but it is no replacement for the DEH-P8500MP.... Thumbs down Pioneer -- I expect better things from your engineers...

The install instructions were extremely simple to follow and Crutchfield support folks provided instant answers for the few questions I had. From the wiring scheme, I had some reservations about connecting my subwoofer, but the Crutchfield folks assured me if I followed their instructions everything would be fine. They were right. I have always been a fan of Pioneer products as the previous ones have always been good quality. Well Pioneer has raised the bar again with this gem. This deck is a great. I have been looking for a deck that could use an external hard drive for a long time that could handle greater than 30GB like most. This deck supports up to 250GB according to the documentation, which I have proven right. I have an external hard drive that is 250GB which currently has 125GB of music it on it. There is a mix between mp3, wma, and aac and the deck has no issue reading the info. My only complaint is that it doesn't list folders alphabetically, it does it by when they were added to the hard drive. A bit of a nuisance but i can deal with that. I also got the add on Sirius model for this deck which works great. Overall i would definitely recommend this deck to people. The sounds quality is great and the deck looks good. I installed this myself in my 2003 Dodge Ram with the Infinity system that came from factory. It took me about 60 minutes to get it installed from start to finish. The only hard part i had was finding a place to put the sirius modules. The deck portion of the install was easy and straight forward. I just had to connect the remote on wire from teh deck to that of the one in the wire harness for the in-dash infinity amp to turn on.

I had some positives and some mildly annoying things about this stereo written down, but the form isn't allowing me the space to write a long enough review, so this is only a list of the things I hate about USB playback instead. - When a thumb drive or mp3 player is connected to the stereo, it defaults to that input when the stereo is turned on, regardless of what source input was last selected when the car was turned off. - Tracks played through USB are not arranged based on name, but timestamp or something similar. I haven't yet determined exactly what the track arrangement is based on, it seems somewhat random. While this is annoying with music tracks, it's nearly unbearable when listening to audiobooks - There is some sort of limit to the number of tracks you can have in a folder, or track name length, or some such thing. - The track listing is based on the folders set up on the USB device, not tags in the file. It would be nice if you could dump a bunch of songs on the thumb drive or mp3 player and browse them by artist or album name, but you can't - The fast forward/rewind moves EXTREMELY slowly when playing USB tracks, it doesn't vary according to how long you hold the button down. This, again, is annoying for music tracks but nearly unbearable for audiobooks. - When you are playing a track via USB and click the track listing button, the listing starts at the root folder, not the folder of the track that is playing.

    The best iPod interface

Philip from Sacramento, CA on 9/24/2008

I installed this a couple weeks ago in my '03 Nissan 350Z and I love it. I researched a lot of head units. My top priority was the iPod interface, and this one is awesome. You have the option to scroll through the artists by first letter only. Even with thousands of artists, at most you only have to scroll through 13 letters before finding the one you want. You can switch from the current playlist to Shuffle All with the single touch of a button. You can do a Link Search that will automatically find all albums by the artist currently playing. You can customize the big display to show artist, album, title, or track length, or any combination of 2 or 3 of them simultaneously, in readable fonts. You can choose from a bunch of background graphics/animations, or turn them off completely. The system sounds great. The 7-band graphic equalizer is fully customizable, and a "Sound Retriever" can be turned on to automatically compensate for mp3 compression and enrich the sound. The difference is really noticeable. The bad: 1) FM reception sucks, and 2) there's almost no sound coming from the rear speakers. I need to troubleshoot to find out if the problems lie with the receiver or my amateur installation. But it doesn't really matter because 1) I mostly just listen to my iPod and CDs, and 2) the system still sounds perfect even with minimal sound from the rear. (I only noticed it by adjusting the fader all the way to the back as a test.)

I just installed the radio in my 2008 tuscon and just love the radio, i also added the HD tuner and it works fine. The only thing about the radio is it is a little difficult to figure out how to set the presets and the owners manual is not much help either escpecially when adding the hd tuner.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

As the reviewer below stated the display is tough to read during the day ( I even have all the windows tinted) but as far as the function goes I have no issues. The sound is great and the USB for the IPOD works great. I bought the XM receiver for this unit and am extremely happy with it. Once I figured out all the controls (took about 1/2 hour after studying the CD that came with it) it is very easy to use while driving without taking your eyes off the road. The graphics are a little much but you do have quite a few to chose from. This is not my 1st purchase from Crutchfield, and certainly will not be my last. They have been selling me car stereo "stuff" since 1987, the experience keeps getting better.

2 major flaws 1. Can't read screen with sunglasses on. 2. Constantly shows "Error 10" when reading CDs and will crash when playing MP3 from USB drive. Turning off the ignition and turning it back on resolves the problem. My guess is that this is a software problem. It seems the MP3 player crashes and you have to kill ignition to restart it. This is a major annoyance. The only suggestion Pioneer had was to take the unit to a service center. GOOD: It has much better (cleaner, better separation, louder) sound quality than the factory Kenwood deck did. The joystick took a few minutes to use but is now the best type of control I have used on any car stereo. They did a great job with the feedback and the UI. No more small, multi-purpose buttons! It was very easy to install with the kit that Crutchfield sent.

This was my first purchase from Crutchfield, and was very happy with the service I received. The item was shipped immediately and I got my product in 2 days. This receiver is a very nice unit. I almost bought the model up from this one with bluetooth, but that unit lacked some of the features this one had. Easy install. Controls a little cumbersome, but easy to get the hang of after you play with it a while. Sound is great. I bought the optional HD radio with this and everything sounds great. The install of the HD unit was a little confusing. My only gripe with this unit was the mounting kit supplied from Crutchfield. I have an LX model Honda Pilot, and Crutchfield sent me 2 EX mounting kits instead of 1 LX and 1 EX. I called Tech support and they offered me a replacement kit sent to me or a credit. All in all...a good unit. Excellent customer service...but be weary of the mounting kit supplied!

I wanna start by saying Crutchfield is the best!! I had my product the day they told me I would get it. This receiver is the best I have ever had. I love the usb and the aux inputs. I ran the aux input (which is simply a 1/8" headphone plugs to the outputs of my DVD player. AWESOME sound!! The usb works great with my ipod and my flash drive. The reason I gave it only 4 stars is because when the system is on random mode (which I don't use too often, but does come in handy) you can not randomly switch to the next song. It instead goes to the next track on that cd. Not too bad, but that would be a great feature to have. But the animations on the screen look great, the headunit feels like it was made with high quality parts, and I abosultely love the large knob. And the free case for the faceplate really sets it all off. Definitely would buy again!!

I really love this deck. I am a Pioneer man from way back. When I was in high school my first deck was an old super tuner with the round dial it was awesome even though we were playing 8 tracks and no amps just boosters then. Now I am using this deck to power a 1000w amp for my Subs (Infinitys) 1300w dual voice coils and a Sony Xplod 1000w for my 4 Alpine componet speakers in the doors. It sounds Beautiful. I love the fact that you can turn off the subs (wife in car) or fine tune them and crank it up. THe EQ is one of the better ones I have heard. I had a JVC with a 7 band EQ and sub output but the Pioneer slams the door in its face hands down. I could go on all day about this supurb unit. You need to go out and get one if you are reading this review. I was going to buy a Alpine/Denon when I went to purchase a new head unit but you can see what I came home with. Thanks Crutchfield for all the help and getting me quality parts to make this install the best I have ever done and it looks great in my dash. Bob

Let me start by saying I am repeat customer at crutchfield I love their service and prompt shipping. I read reviews on this particular product and felt it was for me, I loved the fact that I could attach a USB drive to it and have all my music with me. I had this product installed and love it thus far. I always believed I get the best bang out of Pioneer decks. My only complaint thus far is the 14 rms, the pioneer deck i bought while I was in college gave me 22rms, but I knew the specs before I pulled the trigger and plan to put in a amp anyway. For those not looking to put a amp may wany to reconsider a deck that gives you a higher rms so you get better louder music out of your speakers. Other than that the deck is great, has a lot of features and you cannot go wrong with it, my first pioneer lasted me 7 years and its still going strong. In addition it is very user friendly and I learned everything within 1 hour without looking at the manual or the cd that came with the product. The reason I am giving it 4 stars is that this deck feels a little more flimsy than my other pioneer, to some this may not matter I am not saying the deck will fall apart with regular use but I do believe that a company should keep a certain level of consistency through the years.

If you are looking for a new stereo, don't hesitate on spending the extra cash for this stereo. It looks unbelievable in my vehicle. The graphics on it are amazing. Me personal favorite part about this stereo is the ipod control. The all in one control may be a little intimidating at first, but it is not that bad. After about fifteen minutes it made perfect sense to me. This stereo also transforms the sound. With the subwoofer control on it, I can crank my sub up louder. Also, I can shut it of when my mother is in it, which is a plus! This stereo's equalizer makes it easy for you to adjust to your music preferences. If you are in need of a new stereo this one is the way to go.

This is an outstanding stereo for a good price. I had a previous model Pioneer that required an external adaptor for iPod control, and the interface on that was terrible, so I was a little leary of going down the same road again. However, Pioneer has earned my loyalty with clean, crisp sound, high-wattage decks, and amazing radio tuners; so I went ahead and got this one. I am not disappointed. True to Pioneer's high standards, all the goodies are there: great EQ, strong tuner, low price. Happily, they've also fixed the crap interface that the previous models had with iPod. Now your titles are displayed as you would expect, with the additional option of searching letters of the alphabet, like the newer iPods do when you scroll fast. It makes it immensely easier to find that track you're looking for, although if you're going to the letter "T", for example, it does take 5 or 6 seconds to find it. No big deal to me, though. The only real drawback for me at least, is that I've got an older iPod (the first 60-gig video iPod), which isn't supported. I sorta think that's baloney, but whatever. I was ready to upgrade anyway. The bottom line: this is a great head unit for a great price. The controls are intuitive (I have yet to look at the manual, although I've been working with car stereos for several years), the sound is superb, and the cost for value ratio is about the best you'll find. You will not be disappointed with this deck!

The included free installation gear that came with this unit is one of the main reasons I chose to order it from crutchfield. In my opinion, the Pioneer DEH-P6000UB deserves a perfect 5 star rating as it does everything I want and has extras that I haven't used yet. I would say that this unit is a really good choice for iPod users. Also, you can count on CRUTCHFIELD-I DID.

Search USB, AUX and sub preamp, then compare the results to find a 7-band EQ and this unit surfaces. I gave 4 stars; there's always room for improvement. Pro's: The EQ and band-pass filters are flexible and work well. USB input is cool and navigation is fast. I have an 8 GB thumb drive attached with 60 high bitrate CDs. No need for an iPod and no more CDs in the car! The display is nice, with animations like a stereo VU meter. AM/FM reception is good. Con's: I would prefer a separate volume control over the all-in-one jog dial. There's plenty of room on the unit for this. When you're navigating the setup options, you must exit all menus to change the volume. The remote has volume controls, so you can use that along with the jog dial for adjustments. Once you're setup, the jog dial works nicely for normal navigation and volume control. USB folders seem to be listed by the date/time stamp of the files, rather than alphabetically. I hope I'm overlooking something here, because this is a pretty big issue for those of us that will have several hundred albums on a USB storage device. I have not found a way to get this unit to use MP3 playlists on an external USB device. The display, while bright and easy to read, has too much background animation. I find this a little cheesy for my taste. A solid choice in this price range. Crutchfield was great, as always.

Before this unit, I had a pioneer 4800mp purchased from crutchfield, it was almost 3 years old, and yet they helped me find the random engine noise coming through my subs. You guys are awesome! So I purchased this head unit and it plugged right into the harness I used with the 4800. Easy instal other than the fact that it wouldnt fit all the way into my dash. If you have a 88-93 chevy truck, you will have to ask for the extension kit, or remove and alter the bracket that the unit slides onto inside the dash, like I did. Kinda a hassle I'll admit. Okay, now about that freakin awesome pioneer media headquarters. I have had the unit for a lil over 24 hours and I love it. Great volume strength, I can turn it up to 30 and it pushes my system hard and loud. Some of the reviews I've read, people complain about the menu being hard to figure out, well I had it down in less the 10 minutes. You just have to have a lil common sense in this caliber of electronics. The display is awesome. It is easy to read, even in direct sunlight. All around, I love it. I strongly recommend this to anybody who wants quality, great sound, sleek looks, and a motorized face plate, and not to mention the usb input I havent even got the honor to use yet. I bought this radio as an early Father's Day gift from my wife. I have to admit that I was nervous both about purchasing this radio and installing it myself as I have never installed a radio/XM tuner in my car before. Crutchfield was very helpful in helping me select this radio. It has all the features that I wanted and much more. They also gave me confidence that I could install it myself. So, last Friday, I installed this radio and XM satellite tuner in my 2001 Honda Accord and I could not be happier. Crutchfield was extermely helpful in answering all of my questions while I was installing it and got me "unstuck" when I got stuck. As for the radio, it radio has amazing power and sound through my factory speakers. The XM radio sounds amazing through it as well. There are also lots of presets for all your favorite stations. There is also lots of ways to set the equalizer so that you get the exact sound you want. The IPOD interface is extremely good and works will with my Nano. It did take a little bit to learn how to use it as the interface is different than the factory installed rado. However, once you get used to the interface and skim the manual that comes on a CD, it is very easy to use. Overall, I am very pleased with this radio and with Crutchfield and would definitely purchase another car radio from them in the future. Get this radio and install it yourself...you won't be dissappointed!

I brought this unit to replace the Monsoon stereo in my Camaro along with 6 speakers (4 Infinity & 2 Polk) which I also bought from Crutchfield. Specifically I wanted a receiver that would play MP3s from a flash drive and be able to control it from the deck. I've got an 8GB flash drive hooked up via the USB cable provided and it works great. No reason to use an I-pod or MP3 player. You can see any folders/MP3s that are on the flash drive on the display of the deck. By pressing the list button on the unit or remote you can scroll though folders/songs on the flash drive or just use the random play feature. Sometimes the artist/song is not displayed on the deck but that is an issue with the MP3 itself and not the unit. So far I cannot find anything negative to say about this receiver. Although there is no hardcopy of the receiver's manual provided. You have to print it (~75 pages) from the CD that comes in the box. Overall I highly recommend this unit for anyone who wants an awesome sounding headunit and does not want to invest in an I-pod or MP3 player.

I installed this one(the older one was done at the store) it couldn't have been easier the manual told me everything and was easy to understand, The clarity of sound is amazing, i love that it has Hi/LO-Pass filters, and the 7-band eq is also a plus and is easy to use. It is a little complicated to use at first but the remote makes some of the features alot easier to use. I was kinda dissapointed that i had to print out the manual myself, but i think I'll get over that pretty quick. I was also a little frustrated that it wasn't compatible with the cd-changer in my car(it was stock Subaru), but that just give me the excuse to by a new one. :-) All together it is a great buy, Definately worth the money.

I have a DEH-P770MP with the iPod connection kit in my Jeep and it has a horrible interface. I was a little skeptical about buying another Pioneer with an iPod connection so I specifically purchased one with an AUX port expecting that I would use that but the head unit works too well searching the iPod that I can't imagine that I will use the AUX port. Plus the sound quality is much better through the USB. It works great with my iPod 5th Gen and my iPhone (even though it says it is not an approved accessory).

I purchased this stereo to replace my 4 year old Sony Xplod. In my honest opinion, this stereo is far superior to the Sony. I have a class D mono amp and a 4 channel amp pushing 2 components, 2 6x9's and 2 12" subs, so I needed something with plenty of control and 3 sets of outputs. The Pros: Easy installation utilizing Crutchfield's extras (wiring harnesses, instructions, dash adaptor, etc. (Thanks Crutchfield!)) Remote control works outside the vehicle (sony's don't) A multitude of sound settings Great value for the price The reliability of a Pioneer The Cons Display isn't that great (I'm really not into displays though. I'm more about the sound) Hmm, can't think of anymore cons All in all, this is a great head unit. I would make this purchase again in a heartbeat. Thanks for making it smooth, Crutchfield. I'm writing this review as a review with Crutchfield and as a first time installer. First off, this thing produces some amazing sound - even with my stock amplifier and speakers. A lot of options, decent customization, USB/iPod and fits well into my dash. I don't think the remote control was an overkill. It helps to navigate much faster and easier. Navigation, as others said, is somewhat difficult at first but will become second nature soon after. The receiver itself looks beautiful and feels of pretty much high quality parts. The only things that bother me are: When the pace plate pulls down, it's actually a tad noisy. The faceplate was a little more loose than I expected it to be. Installation overall was easy. The instructions were good and for the most part clear. I was having trouble figuring out how to power my amplifier. Overall, this is a great CD player. A bit pricey but nothing short of low quality that Pioneer has to offer.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After deciding to upgrade the stereo in my '02 Nissan Frontier I hit the research trail. I found that this head unit had the most features and quality for the price. I bumped my price point from $200 to $250 to get a few extras like the 7- band equalizer and a 3-line display. Many of the other headunits I researched in the $250 range had many of the same features, but not quiet all of them. The unit's controls are easy to use and are laid out in a logical way, so that in many cases I did not have to refer to the owner's manual. Print a copy of it though, (it comes on a cd) because there are several features where I needed a little guidance. I like that I can control everything from the head unit. I control the crossovers, sub output, equalizer, etc. all from the head unit. Overall a great headunit. The Pros: -7-Band equalizer rather than just 3-band - really gives more sound shaping for the specific automobile -High Pass Filter -Subwoofer control 3-line display - gives many display options that should meet anyone's standards from a plain background, still pics, and short movie clip backgrounds -Rear USB connection for jump drive - this is a great feature because I no longer have any cd's cluttering my truck -Expandability - bluetooth, hd radio, sat. radio Cons: These are both fairly picky, but here they are all the same. -The display could be bigger - it would be easier to read if the text were larger during 3 line displays and other info like the time are small. Don't read too much into this, it is not tiny, just a personal preference. -USB file management is easy to use. My only complaint is that when you go into the file/folder list it does not go directly to the folder/file playing. It highlights the first file/folder on the drive everytime, so if you are listening to a song that is half way down the list you have to scroll farther than I like in order to see the songs near the one playing.

Why did I wait so long? I decided this year to keep my 2002 Highlander until I can't drive it anymore, so I treated myself to a new "aftermarket" receiver to replace my factory 6-CD changer from Toyota. What a difference! The DEH-6000UB coupled with the GEX-P10HD optional HD Tuner (installed in the glove box... very easy) is rock solid and crystal clear. The signal is crisp and clean, even at high volume, and HD Radio clarity is really something special. I also bought the iPod adapter, but my wife's iPod is too old and isn't compatible (sigh), so more on that later, maybe. Once I got over my anxiety about doing my own installation, it went very smoothly and was finished in a couple hours. Very easy with the instructions and kit provided FREE by Crutchfield. I drilled 2 holes in the installation kit pocket and ran my USB and Aux cables through, then velcroed them in place so everything is right up front. Maybe Bluetooth someday, who knows. I agree with the fellow who complained about some hissing, especially while playing CDs and/or MP3 discs, but not bad enough to warrant a full-star deduction... Highly recommended!

There are lots of sound options like the 7-band EQ, and as good as it made my 13-year-old stock speakers sound, I can't imagine what a decent aftermarket setup would sound like! The "Rotary Commander" actually is pretty easy to use and is somewhat similar to an iPod, which makes it easy to search through my MP3s. USB input works great, I have it connected to a 16GB flash drive filled with my entire collection and it only takes a few seconds to load. It works just like a giant MP3-CD but is much more convenient. It's also nice to have an auxiliary input now too! As with my old unit, Pioneer's SuperTunerIIID is amazing. It easily catches weak and distant stations, and the local stations come in crystal clear. I haven't really got a chance to mess with the CD player much since I'm too busy using the USB input, but if it's as good as my old Pioneer was, it will never skip a beat! Cons: I'm calling BS on the 94dB Signal-To-Noise Ratio spec., it seems to have a lot more background noise than my old unit did (which was also rated at 94dB), some people might find it annoying. Like my old unit, Random does not work when you manually change songs, it only works when you let the song finish.

    Features

Overview: The Pioneer DEH-P6000UB is an AM/FM/CD receiver that can also play MP3, WMA, WAV, and AAC files on disc as well. It has a rear panel 3.5mm auxiliary input for portable devices, as well as a rear panel USB input for your iPod or other USB-based portable audio player or USB memory device. Additional accessories that are compatible with this unit include Bluetooth Audio and Bluetooth Telephone (when the optional Pioneer Bluetooth adapter is connected), XM or SIRIUS Satellite Radio (with an optional satellite radio tuner and antenna), and a multi-CD player. See section below on External Device Controls for details on compatibility.

CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the DEH-P6000UB are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers. The power output specs for the DEH-P6000UB are as follows:

    • CEA2006 Specs: 14 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Continuous Power Output: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 50Hz-15kHz, 5% THD)
    • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels (or 50 watts x 2 channels at 4 ohms + 70 watts x 1 channel at 2 ohms for subwoofer)

MOSFET Amplifier: The DEH-P6000UB is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit.

Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.

BSM (Best Stations Memory): The BSM (Best Stations Memory) function lets you automatically store the six strongest stations under preset buttons 1-6 of the currently tuned band. The tuner has 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can store 6 presets for each bank giving you a total of 18 FM presets and 6 AM presets.

Local Tuning: Local seek tuning lets you tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for good reception. There are 4 levels of sensitivity for FM and two levels for AM. The higher settings allow reception of only the strongest stations, while lower settings let you receive progressively weaker stations.

MP3/WMA/WAV Playback: This unit can play MP3/WMA/WAV files recorded on CD-ROM, CD-R, and CD-RW discs in ISO9660 Level 1/Level 2, Joliet, and Romeo formats. MP3 files with a bit rate from 8-320 kbps, WMA files with a constant bit rate from 48-320 kbps, and WMA files with a variable bit rate from 48-384 kbps are supported. The unit is compatible with ID3 Tags and will display artist, folder, file, and album name, plus comments. Up to 8 directories, 99 folders and 999 files per disc are recognized by this unit.

AAC Decoding: This unit will playback AAC files encoded by iTunes recorded onto CDs, however files purchased from the iTunes Music Store (.m4p file extension) are not compatible. Tracks recorded at transmission rates of 16-320 kbps are playable on this unit.

Advanced Sound Retriever: The Advanced Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. When Advanced Sound Retriever is on, the high frequency range is compensated to match the frequency response curve to the original sound. There are two available levels of the Sound Retriever effect.

EEQ (Easy EQ): The DEH-P6000UB is equipped with a 7-band EQ with 6 preset EQ settings. You can boost or cut each frequency band by +/- 12dB at 2dB intervals. Features of the Easy EQ include:

    • Center Frequencies: 50Hz, 125Hz, 315Hz, 800Hz, 2kHz, 5kHz, 12.5kHz
    • Preset EEQ Settings: Powerful, Super Bass, Vocal, Natural, Custom 1, Custom 2, and Flat

Selectable Loudness Levels: Loudness compensates for deficiencies in the low and high frequencies at low volumes. You can choose from three levels of loudness:

    • Low: +3.5dB (100Hz), +3dB (10kHz)
    • Mid: +10dB (100Hz), +6.5dB (10kHz)
    • High: +11dB (100Hz), +11dB (10kHz)

List Button: The List button on the front panel allows you to the track title list, folder list, file list, preset channel list, or disc title list, depending upon the source. Once the List button is pressed, you can turn the multi-control knob to view each item on the list. To select the highlighted item, you can press the multi-control. This allows you to quickly make selections from most any source.

Auxiliary Input: The DEH-P6000UB is equipped with a rear panel 3.5mm stereo minijack auxiliary input for connecting external components, such as a portable MP3 player, DVD, or VCR. Once AUX 1 is selected as a source, you can change the source display of the input to any 10-character name. A second auxiliary device can be connected to this unit when an optional adapter is connected to the IP-Bus connector on the rear panel. Both Aux 1 and Aux 2 must be turned on in the setup menu in order to be selected as a source. See below for more information on the 2nd Auxiliary Input.

2nd Auxiliary Input Ready: In addition to the rear panel minijack Aux input (AUX 1), you can connect a second auxiliary component by connecting an IP-Bus/RCA connector. The CD-RB10 lets you connect one auxiliary component, and the CD-RB20 lets you connect an auxiliary component and a CD changer via the IP-Bus connector on the back of the head unit. The 10-character name of the connected auxiliary component can be entered into memory, and will appear as you cycle through the sources.

Subwoofer Output: The unit has a pair of dedicated non-fading RCA subwoofer outputs with a low-pass filter, phase adjustment, and output level. When the subwoofer output is turned on, you can select the frequency of the 18dB/octave low pass filter (50, 63, 80, 100, or 125 Hz), select the subwoofer phase (normal/reverse), and the subwoofer gain (+6 to -24).

Switchable Rear Channel/Subwoofer Output: The rear speaker outputs can be set to provide full range output with full fading capability, or they can be set to provide non-fading subwoofer (low-pass) output. When the rear speaker outputs are set to subwoofer mode, the rear preamp outputs also switch from full range to subwoofer outputs. When set for subwoofer operation, you can connect the rear speaker leads directly to two small 4-ohm passive subwoofers or a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils. If you prefer to use a single 2-ohm subwoofer, you can connect the woofer to one set of speaker leads, leaving the other set of rear leads disconnected. The maximum output provided when a 2-ohm load is connected to one set of leads is 70 watts.

High Pass Filter: If you do not want low frequency sounds to play from the front or rear speaker outputs, you can turn on the 12dB/octave High Pass Filter. The HPF has a selectable cutoff frequency (50, 63, 80, 100, or 125 Hz). Only frequencies higher than those in the selected range are output through the speakers.

Bass Boost: The Bass Boost function raises the level of sounds lower than 100Hz. You can select a desired level of bass boost between 0 and 6 (Gain: +12dB to 0dB).

Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM tuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4dB to +4dB.

Disc Naming: You can use the disc title input feature to store up to 48 CD titles in the unit's memory. Each title can be up to 10 characters long.

Full-Dot OEL Display: The DEH-P6000UB features a Full-Dot Organic EL display, which takes advantage of MP3, WMA, iPod, XM and Sirius Satellite Radio, plus CD Text-encoded discs. This large 160 x 48 pixel, 3-line display makes it easy to read and cycle through the song title, artist, and other text used by these sources.

Entertainment Displays: There are numerous Entertainment Displays to choose from, including 2 Background Visuals, 4 Background Pictures, 2 Simple Displays, a Level Meter, 3 Visualizer displays, 2 Spectrum Analyzers, a Movie, and an Entertainment Clock display.

Ever Scroll: When the Ever Scroll feature is set to On, recorded text information scrolls continuously on the display. It will auto-scroll up to 64 characters. Set this feature to Off if you prefer the information to scroll only once.

Function Confirmation Tones: The receiver emits an audible beep tone each time a button is pressed. These function confirmation tones cannot be turned off.

Display Illumination/Clock Display: When the Clock Display has been turned on, pressing and holding the Source button turns off audio output, but the clock display remains on. When the Clock Display has been turned off, pressing and holding the source button turns the unit off completely. Even if you have turned the radio completely off you can view the clock display be pressing the clock button. The clock will then remain On until you turn it back Off. When the unit is On you can select between the clock display or the audio track/tuner display. When the unit is off but the ignition is on, the button illumination will light up when the vehicle's headlights are turned on.

Brightness/Dimmer: The brightness of the display can be adjusted in the setup menu. In addition, the display is also automatically dimmed when the car's headlights are turned on. With the headlights off, the brightness can be adjusted between 0 and 15. When the dimmer function is on, the brightness can be adjusted from 0 to 10.

Note: The orange/white "illumination" wire must be connected to the vehicle's headlight circuit in order for the dimmer feature to work.

Detachable Face Security: This unit features Detachable Face Security. If the front panel is not detached from the head unit within five seconds of turning off the ignition, a warning tone will sound. The warning tone can be turned off in the menu, if desired. A face-fixing screw is supplied for making the face non-detachable, if desired.

Remote Control: The DEH-P6000UB comes with a wireless remote control (CXC9113). The remote allows you to control the volume, switch between sources, pause the CD, change the display, and adjust the audio. The 10-digit numeric keypad allows you to directly select a CD track, radio preset, or disc from a connected changer. The attenuator button allows you to quickly lower the volume by about 90%, a function that cannot be performed from the front panel. The head unit also has a 3.5mm minijack on the back panel for connecting an optional wired remote control, such as the CD-MR70 or CD-MR80 (130CDMR70 or 130CDMR80). In addition, the PAC SWI-PS steering wheel remote interface is compatible with this head unit.
