Our take on the Pioneer TS-A1675R

Are your car's factory speakers sounding less than fresh? Pioneer built their A-Series speakers to be high-performance replacements for your old speakers, designed from the ground up to bring back the life that your music's been missing. You'll be able to enjoy the clear vocals, chunky guitar riffs, powerful drums, and distinct bass lines that have always been a part of your favorite tunes, but have remained hidden behind sub-par speakers.

The multi-driver array on this speaker brings out all the midrange and high-frequency details.

Get more out of your music

Are your car's factory speakers sounding less than fresh? Pioneer built their A-Series speakers to be high-performance replacements for your old speakers, designed from the ground up to bring back the life that your music's been missing. You'll be able to enjoy the clear vocals, chunky guitar riffs, powerful drums, and distinct bass lines that have always been a part of your favorite tunes, but have remained hidden behind sub-par speakers.

Built to make your music rock

Pioneer equipped the TS-A1675R 6-1/2" speakers with multilayer mica-matrix woofers that stay rigid when the volume's turned up, keeping distortion to a minimum so your bass sounds clean. Each woofer gets paired up with a midrange speaker and a tweeter to add warmth and clarity to your driving soundtrack. These speakers will sound great running off your factory stereo, but they'll really shine when driven by an aftermarket receiver or an external amp. Don't drive another day listening to tired-sounding tunes, when you can enjoy Pioneer sound quality with these speakers in your vehicle.

TS-A1675R - 04 Toyota Sienna

Bryan from Lafayette, LA on 8/10/2016

2004 Toyota Sienna
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced some busted stock units in the front doors. Needless to say it was a huge upgrade in sound. Great buy and would definitely recommend these. In usual Crutchfield fashion, they came with the necessary adapters for the stock speaker holes and the connectors for the stock wiring so the installation was very easy.

Pros: Easy installation, great sound, great price.

Cons: None, really.

2000 Chevrolet Camaro
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Speakers came nicely packaged with plenty of protection, Crutchfield provided the necessary mounting hardware (front door brackets weren't needed). The outer metal bead and attaching screw holes are to close to use any kind of washer head screw (crutchfield kit had a washer-less screw that worked). The speakers sound good at low to mid volume and are not great beyond that but at the price point I wasn't expecting top shelf sound. Crutchfield was top of the industry for customer support which I used online and by phone.

Pros: Customer Service, price, low/mid sound

Cons: High output sound, speaker attachment points are tight

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought 2 sets. Great product overall. Minor issues: had to flatten the high end of my equalizer because the highs could get a little ear piercing and the negative lead on the harnesses that Crutchfield shipped were loose so I had to splice on the lead that comes with the speakers. Otherwise very satisfied.

Pros: Sounds great Clear

Cons: Highs can get a little strong Modification req'd for Crutchfield's VW harness

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got these along with a Picasso Nano 5-channel amp and a Rockford Fosgate 10" slimform sub, in order to better serve the Pioneer head unit that I installed. I am a jazz, dubstep, and Carly Rae Jepsen fan. Wow! These sound great, and I have yet to hear any distortion. For the money, I have not heard better.

Pros: -Awesome sound and range -Removable cover so these fit behind stock grills -Awesome sound and range -Adapters that shipped with the speakers fit my car perfectly (both mountings and wires)

Cons: -not free

Treble is too harsh

Mickey from Cleveland, OH on 7/13/2016

2012 GMC Terrain
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm not a speaker expert, but these sound too harsh on the treble. I spoke to a Crutchfield representative who told me they have a high range of frequencies that I'm not used to hearing and that he has some Pioneer speakers that are "bright" as well. The sound is clean, but to compensate for the harshness, I had to turn my treble down on the equalizer to the point where it sounds slightly distorted. I don't see this complain in any other reviews, so maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I bought these speakers to replace the dead stock speakers in my 2009 HHR. I couldn't be more pleased with how they sound. I am not really and audiophile, I just want good solid sound, and this is what I got with theses speakers. The extras you get when buying from Crutchfield, just adds to their value.

Pros: Nice sound, easy to install

Pioneer TS-A1675R Speakers

Dale from El Paso, TX on 2/1/2016

I'm really surprised by the clear sound of these speakers. I installed them in the front of my 2002 Avalanche and they make a total difference compared to the old factory speakers. I initially was using them with the factory radio. However, I just installed a new Pioneer receiver/cd player and these speakers sound even better. They were fairly easy to install. However you do need to drill holes into the door panel, which is fairly easy. I'm sure if you used them with an amp they would sound really professional. However, I'm satisfied with them as they are. Now need to replace the rear speakers.

Pros: Crisp, clear sound. Very nice mid's and high's. The bass is adequate, unless you're wanting super strong bass (need an amp).

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If you're looking to upgrade your stock speakers for a reasonable price, these are the speakers for you. The speakers came with adapter cables and installed easily in under an hour.

Pros: Great performance at a reasonable price.

Cons: Depending on your vehicle, you may need to do some cutting/modification if you want the pioneer grills to fit inside the doors, which will allow the cars door paneling to be placed over the speakers.

Pros: Low cost, clear sound at low to mid volume

Cons: Distorts if bass is turned up very much over half way, even with a factory head unit

Pioneer is simply the best

Dave from California on 12/11/2015

2013 Honda Fit
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers work extremely well through all frequency ranges. You get the highs from the tweeters, the voice from the mid range, and the lows from the 6.5 large speakers. I would say the low is more of a Bang than a Boom so the ideal paring is to add subs woofs along these speakers. If you do that you not going to find any combination out there that sounds better; High, Voice, Bang, and Boom.

Pros: Great sound through all frequency ranges. Great upgrade for factory replacement speakers.

Cons: May need to add Sub woofs to get the Boom to go along with the Bang from these speakers. That can be said about any 6.5 inch speakers so this is not really a Con.

Great speakers for the price...

Better than stock

M. from Iowa on 9/22/2015

2015 Silverado rear door replacement. Using with stock non-bose 8"lcd head unit. Better mids and highs than stock speakers, but much diminished bass. With door panels on and fade adjusted, not terrible. Would like to hear what the Kicker yellow series 6.5's would sound like in there as they had much crisper bass (but lower mids/highs) in the local store display.

Pros: Cost Mids/Highs

Cons: Bass (without amp) VERY flimsy woofer surrounds

2003 Subaru Forester
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently upgraded my factory speakers with Pioneer TS-A1675 and am very pleased. What I notice is increased clarity and a cleaner defined sound. The "muddiness" of the stock speakers is gone. My head unit is an Alpine Media Player with 16 watts x 4, I will be adding a more powerful Alpine amp and Kicker under-seat subwoofer in the near future.

Pros: Fit. Easy install. Price. Improved sound quality.

Cons: none.

Decent speaker for the money

Minidriver from Niles, OH on 8/10/2015

2005 MINI Cooper
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My Mini Cooper has the Harmon Kardon stereo option. To change the rear speakers requires the purchase of a new radio head unit which I was not keen to do. Replacing the small tweeters in the door also required some drilling and fitting so all I could easily replace were the 2 door speakers. I wanted to do this as with the top down you could hear very little of the music withoit lots of distortion. These increased the bass some and the music is a little clearer. For the money I got what I paid for but hard to condemn or condone these with the limitations I put on them by replacing only the 2 door speakers.

Pros: Price, ease of fitment, better bass than stock

2005 Dodge Ram 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Consider these replacements for your stock speakers (especially if your stock speakers tore) but dont expect them to sound significantly better. There is only a slight improvement if any. The reasoning behind these are to replace stock speakers made of cheap materials with speakers with these speakers that have marginally better materials.

Pros: Cheap, better materials

Cons: Doesnt sound significantly better than stock speakers

Good Value for the Price

Al from Wisconsin on 6/22/2015

Just not what I was expecting

Anonymous from Richmond Va. on 6/4/2015

I have always gone with pioneer speakers as long as I have been into car stereo systems. So I decided to go with what I know in my Tahoe and I was highly disappointed. Now I can't fully blame the sound quality on Pioneer simply because of the placement location of the speakers in the doors by Chevy. I have the Bose system in the truck and decided to upgrade from the paper speakers and go with a more durable type speaker. I should have just kept the factory speakers in. The sound I was expecting was just not there for a 3 way speaker.......Smh. Very disappointed.

Pros: Durable, quality speakers. 3 way capability. Nice looking. Easy to install.

Cons: Sound quality just not there. Just not the umph I was expecting from pioneer

These speakers keep Pioneer's good reputation going since the last ones I purchased for 15 years ago, they still sound good. I can easily say that they sound loud and clear with no distortion w/o an actual need for an amp; and that's with only the factory stereo unit.

Pros: - loud - clarity - no distortion

Cons: - could not utilize the include grill because my car's door did not allow it.

Great factory replacement. Bolted right in with only 1 hole to drill for each speaker. Wiring harness was simple and easy. As an audio engineer, with trained ears the actual performance of the speakers is: The speaker has crisp highs and great midrange with a dead spot in the middle-low frequencies which is to be expected. It does not have great bass but they make speakers for that. Gave it 4 stars due to the frequency dead spot around 1-4k range.

Pros: Easy install, crisp sounds, good response

Cons: needs a bit more low end response

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these as a replacement for my stock speakers in a 2006 4Runner. I purchased them at the recommendation of a Crutchfield advisor, and now I wish I hadn't. These speaker are no better than my factory, paper-cone speakers than came with the car. They have plenty of mids and highs, but cannot handle any lows. They also distort at higher volume. I wish I had saved my money and purchased something else. They are $40 speakers at best. These are not something I would recommend for anyone.

Pros: Came with install gear

Cons: Distortion at high volumes Terrible bass Expensive

Good value & much better than OEM speakers

Tom from Smithfield, VA on 12/29/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced four Lexus RX300 OEM door mount speakers with the Pioneer TS-A1675R speakers. Except for these new speakers, the stereo system is the standard stock, OEM system. The sound from these speakers is well rounded with much better bass and highs when compared to the factory OEM speakers. Following installation, the improvement in sound was noticeable as soon as I turn the stereo on. Value for the dollar, it's hard to beat these speakers.

Pros: Easy installation (once the door panels are removed). Crutchfield mounting bracket and wiring harness worked great and helped simplify speaker installation.

Cons: None

Big improvement compared to the Honda Accord 2012 original speakers. Was easier to install than the instructions indicated since I didn't have to drill any holes. The Sub-woofer that I didn't t replace in the center of rear deck rattles but online forums seem to feel it is due to the acoustics of the rear deck not the sub-woofer.

Pros: Good clean crisp sound even without adding an amp.

Cons: none

The speakers are great for the price, everything sounds much crisper compared to the old stock speakers, bass seems weak but that's probably due to the fact that I need a new amp. Going to order a new amp and see how it goes from there.

Great sound for the money. Huge upgrade over the OEM speakers. Very crisp and clean sound throughout the spectrum. Fit in perfectly and Crutchfield made installation a snap with the included mounting adapter and wiring harness.

Pros: A great value with clean sound.

Cons: Bass is slightly weak, but completely acceptable.

Used in 2003 Suburban. Fit as expected. Needed to either drill 3 mounting screw holes or, as I did, use self tapping screws. Instructions on door panel removal were good and complete. Sound is about the same to my 70 year old ears and I couldn't really tell the difference between the Pioneer and the original but I replaced both anyway. First one took 45 minutes with interruptions; second, 20 minutes (used a bent coat hanger to hang door panel from window glass so I could avoid the electrical wire plug removal). Highly recommended these speakers if one of yours fails.

Pros: Simple replacement, comparable sound, can't tell they were replaced, work fine.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am pleased with these speakers from unpacking to installing. The speakers have a quality appearance and feel right out of the box, and the sound improvement is quite noticeable. I replaced the factory Harmon Kardon midrange door speakers with these 3 way units for a major improvement in sound quality, midrange/mid bass response and a much more balanced sound experience. I have left the factory door handle mounted tweeters active and the sound is clean and not overly bright or harsh. This was a great recommendation from the Crutchfield advisor. Installation was quite simple with the included adapters, and the addition of DynaMat squares helped improve the overall sound quality. The Mini Cooper doors/door panels have a tendency to buzz and now everything is quiet and buzz free.

Pros: Great customer service and support, ease of installation, great sound and bang-for-your-buck.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced the factory components with these little suckers. The highs on the factories were too tinny, and the bass washed out the mids. These little Pioneers were the perfect remedy for that - The sounds are beautifully separated and you get great clarity from the mids and highs even when the bass is pumping. Speaking of the bass, these are a little "punchy" - I don't mind it, but probably see a sub in in my future to smooth things out.

Pros: Clarity, clarity, clarity.

Cons: Punchy bass, but this is a 6 1/2 cone - to be expected.

Excellent performance for the money!!

Khousley from Indianapolis IN 46219 on 6/1/2013

At first glance I was very skeptical of these speakers. Pioneer has a great reputation for home stereo equipment and HU for cars but not so much for car speakers. I used these speakers to replace some blown Polks in my 2007 Harley Davidson Ultra. After replacing the Polks with these I was blown away by what I was hearing!! Every note was crystal clear and clean with excellent bass for a 6.5 speaker. I'm running a soundstream 520D amp pushing 100 RMS to these speakers and they don't appear to be working hard for 50 RMS speakers . I've had much more expensive speakers in my bikes over the years, JL, Focal, Polk, Alpine, etc. All excellent speakers! but for the value and the money you can't beat these on a motorcycle going down the road at 70 miles an hour. All bass is lost at that speed anyway. For all my Harley buddies who don't have 2 or 3 thousand dollars to put into a system .... Try these. They do not disappoint !!

Pros: Amazing clarity and sound. Crystal clear at 70 miles an hour. Can't wait to see how the 4 way version sounds in my lower fairing!!

Cons: My only concern is durability on a motorcycle , but I've been caught in a down pour twice and my speakers are still rockin like new!

Great speakers- excellent sound quality from highs to lows

Pros: I am running these speakers off of a Sony head unit and the sound is significantly clearer and better than the factory speakers I initially had in the car. Also with the bluetooth function of my headunit the calls are clear and low tones and voices are much clearer and easily distinguishable. Well worth the money to have upgraded the speaker system in all 4 doors of my car

Slightly Better than Replaced Factory 2010 Honda Accord

2010 Honda Accord
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced the front and back 6.5" speakers in my 2010 Honda Accord with the TS-A1675R's. I'm a beginner at messing with electrical sound systems and installation was much easier than I thought, but much of that was to having the correct trim panel tools which I ordered from Crutchfield. The master sheets help, but those alone were not enough. Using the master sheets and viewing amateur videos on YouTube on how to remove the door panels helped out a lot. As for quality of the speakers? Right now I would say they are slightly better than the factory speakers I replaced. I still have the factory tweeters in place and am thinking of replacing those as well. I have a feeling that it may change the overall audio quality. As of now, if I focus on the sound coming out of the aftermarket speakers, I can tell they are more clear than the stock, but it takes a lot to make that determination. I also that the bass is not as strong coming out of these speakers as well. I'm not sure if I need to add an amplifier or go ahead and replace the stereo head unit at this point.

Pros: Easy installation Clear Sound Price

Cons: Speakers sound alright when listening to the factory stereo, but when I change over to a CD or AUX it's as if the bass is nearly nonexistent. Didn't do that with the factory speakers.

Great sounding speakers especially for the high ranges. They sound great with my two 12's. the best part were these speakers were only a great price b/c they were in an open box. I only gave it 4 stars b/c Crutchfield forgot to put screws for the speakers in the box which made The instillation a little more challenging.

My order was processed and shipped UPS very quickly, especially for being during the month of Dec. The instillation pamphlet that was supplied was accurate and useful, which made an already simply job that much easier. Total install time for 4 speakers was 1.5 hrs. The speakers sound good for the money and blend well with an already installed sub woofer.

Pros: smooth install, good sound for the money.

Q & A

Customer Q&A

5 questions already asked

I never rely on the head units puny little internal amplifier to drive speakers. Adding a decent separate amplifier will do wonders to even the lowest quality speakers. Of course it is far more complicated and more costly but seriously the only way to go. I have installed many systems in various vehicles with different set ups. The same conclusion was what a difference in sound quality with external amps. So yes your speakers seriously need at least 50-75 watts rms, not max power to sound great. The speakers sound very good. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any more questions. Jeremy [ Jeremy  Feb 25, 2016 ]
Well I'm not sure if I can answer this without more questions. All mine work very well with my system. Who installed the speakers? We're they installed correctly ? Soldered or just twisted or crimped? A good install would make any speaker ßound good. Did you/ they use good speaker wire? I'd love to help but it is all in the way they are installed! [ JOHN  Feb 25, 2016 ]
They are some nice speaker's. Great for your highs, very clear.I would put only 100 watts and use them for my highs only. Hope I was some help [ Nathaniel  Feb 25, 2016 ]
Not sure they are still in the box sitting up in my attic i never used them. Sorry [ rick  Feb 25, 2016 ]
If you installed your speakers recently, I would recommend giving them a little bit of time to break-in first before rushing to judgement. Speakers generally require a break-in period so that the material surrounding the woofers can loosen up and allow the drivers to move more fully. We typically recommend a break-in period of 24 to 48 hours of playback before the speakers will deliver optimum sound quality. I hope that helps. My Bio: [ Larry  Feb 26, 2016 ]  Staff
I purchased a set of these speakers along with a double din Pioneer head unit that output 14W RMS. They sounded great so I'm thinking something with the installation may be the probelm. I'd start by taking a close look at the speaker wiring. Make sure you don't have a positive and negative speaker feed reversed. Confirm the head unit has a good chassis ground. You might hook up your old speakers and see if the problem remains. Do both speakers sound bad? If both do I would suspect something other than the speakers themselves. Good luck! [ Joseph  Feb 25, 2016 ]
Absolutely. I bought 4 of these back in march of 2014 and they're still going. I installed them in my 91 K5 blazer and take that thing off road as often as possible. Really loud too even with the back canopy off. [ KARL  Feb 10, 2016 ]
Yes, definitely! These Pioneer speakers are the best ones I've bought from crutchfield [ MERRIE  Feb 09, 2016 ]
The sound is good but I have had issues with them rattling a little. The center cones detached and I ended up having to just remove them. I would spend a little more money for a higher model if I were buying them again. [ BROOKS  Feb 09, 2016 ]
I actually put them in the front but they do need an amp or equalizer to really make them sing... Sorry for the late response [ ANTONIO  Nov 18, 2014 ]
It's really up to you and your car audio setup. I think the speakers are a bit underpowered. So, the front may be better where you can emphasize the highs more. Usually, ppl have the low/bass in the rear. [ Quan  Nov 06, 2014 ]
