Listening to your favorite music through new speakers is a lot like the feeling you get after driving through a carwash. With the muck and smudges gone and the world sparkling before you, you wonder how you could have driven so long, looking through a dirty windshield. Pioneer's TS-G6845R 6"x8" speakers will give you that carwash feel every day.

Superior design at a low price

This 6"x8" 2-way speaker features a polypropylene woofer cone with an improved design that gives you better midbass for a fuller musical experience. The dome tweeter employs a hypersensitive diaphragm to broadcast the high frequencies effectively, while the tweeter's flanged frame improves dispersion so more of the little details reach your ears. The speaker's expansive voice coil dissipates heat effectively, so these speakers should live a long, happy life in your car.

Highlights:

  • 2-way car speakers (pair)
  • 6"x8" polypropylene woofer cone
  • 1-3/16" PET balanced dome tweeter
  • power range: 2-40 watts RMS (250 watts peak power)
  • frequency range: 37-29,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 90 dB
  • top-mount depth: 2-5/16"

Replacement speakers for JVC that I originally purchased for my F150. The JVC sounded worse than the stock ford speakers, so I wasn't too hopeful when I order the Pioneer to replace them. I was completely wrong. The Pioneer sound great, correctly filled up the factory cut holes in the door and have a perfect mid to high range.

Randy from New Ulm, MN on 3/29/2017

2011 Ford F-150 XLT
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had Pioneer speakers in the past and thought very highly of them. And I was again right after replacing the factory speakers in my 2011 F150 Super crew because of the difference they made in sound quality (a little disappointed in lack of bass level) off of the factory stereo vs. the factory speakers off of the factory stereo. But now after having them in the truck for several months, 2 of them (1 front & 1 opposite rear) are starting to make crackling noises and are cutting in and out. I am not a person that cranks my volume to an insane level, I just enjoy a good sounding stereo system. Also I have been in the automotive business for 25 years and have multiple ASE certifications so I will guarantee they are hooked up correctly. I currently rate these speakers at the same quality you could find at a big box store - cheaply made!

Pros: Thought they sounded good at first

Cons: Don't sound good after a few months

Crutchfield response on 4/4/2017 After receiving Randy's feedback, we looked up his order and found that his speakers are still under warranty. While his order is beyond Crutchfield's 60-day return policy, Randy can contact Pioneer at 800-421-1404 for further information about the 1-year warranty on these speakers.

These speakers are so much more crisp than stock. I would argue that for the price they simply can't be beat. 2 personal comments that may help people: 1. I was a little thrown off when I first bought them by the reviews saying "best for the money". If you drive any car that has a normal amount of driving noise (basically all cars beside luxury) I don't think anything higher than these are worth the value. These are incredible 2. There are a few comments talking about the lower bass on these. I found that if I just added points to the bass boost feature on my pioneer head unit, these bad boys can put out enough for a more than quality sound experience. In the end, for $25 a speaker these are a by far the easiest decision to make to upgrade your cars driving experience. Do it.

Beware of Speaker Installation

CJ from Wheaton, IL on 10/9/2016

2014 Ford F-350
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers are good. The installation instructions and included parts assume speakers are already installed in the truck. With the factor radio and XL trim, most owners do not have rear speakers installed. A trip to the auto parts store is required to purchase j-clips to allow fastening the speakers into the factory speaker locations. This is strange, considering a bag of screws are provided with the speakers but are not needed if replacing preexisting speakers.

Pros: quality sound

Cons: poor installation instructions and parts

Good Clarity

Jon from Tyrone, PA on 10/8/2016

1994 Mazda B Series

Originally I had only 4 stars marked. But then I remembered the price. For this price range, they have great clarity, even at high volume. They get 5 stars for the price range. I have a pair of these in my truck doors and a pair of the Pioneer A-series 6x8s in the rear. But this review is for the TS-G6845R. These may leave a little to be desired on the lower end bass. But if you have a subwoofer, it doesn't matter. These speakers sound amazing when the hpf crossover removes the lower frequencies. I have the hpf crossover on my amp set at 80Hz. Running off a Pioneer amp with the hpf crossover allows them to handle 60 watts rms with ease. With that kind of power, they are very loud and incredibly clean and clear. And they're not stressed by the bass frequencies as my subwoofer is handling those duties. Originally I had these speakers connected directly to my head unit. They sounded very good. But when I hooked up the 60 watt x 2 amp to them, I was blown away at the difference. Even at high volume, I could hear every cymbal tap, and guitar note, etc.. I highly recommend these speakers if you have a subwoofer to handle the bass duties. They may have better bass if you had a box for them, but not much bass if they're installed on your doors or on the rear dash. Additional amplifier isn't necessary but wow, these speakers really shine above 80Hz with an amp.

Pros: They sound like a more expensive speaker. They're not Focals, but they are the best in the price range. With an amplifier, they sound unbelievable. Pioneer is still on top.

Cons: Struggles to produce much bass. I would only get these if you have a subwoofer or other speakers that can play lower frequencies. Or if you don't care about bass and just want a crystal clear, warm sound stage, these will work.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It's been lots of years since I've replaced speakers in a vehicle and these Pioneer speakers are every bit as good as I remember from back in the early '80s. The construction was solid and the speaker material seemed to be of good quality as it didn't look weak or flimsy. These have a nice heft with the frame being a heavy gauge metal. They were a direct replacement and there were no difficulties. The sound was very clear on the top and middle with the bass being sufficient given the actual physical size of these 5"x7" speakers. They can be pushed to high volume and they retain a really great sound with minimal distortion. Overall, I'm very satisfied with these speakers as they do exactly what I need them to do since they're mounted behind the seats. Crutchfield support was excellent and the thoughtfulness of adding the speaker connections is what makes them a cut above.

Pros: Excellent quality, Reasonable price, Ease of installation, Excellent sound

These speakers went in so easy. The instructions that came with them were very easy to follow and made the installation go fast and smooth. I was planning at least half a day to get off the panels and change the speakers. But I read the step by step instructions and was done with both sides in about 30 minutes. They fit perfect and with the included wire adapters it was too easy.. And they are so much better than the factory speakers, the quality of the sound is unreal. Before I would have the sound on 10 to hear it while driving down the highway, now I only go to 6 and it is so much clearer. Love them.

Pros: Better than factory, fit perfect and super easy to install with the instructions.

Cons: I wished they had mentioned that the factory speakers had no weather guard as I would have bought or made something. But other than that nothing wrong with these great speakers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Giving it 5 stars on the bang for buck premise. Darn good sound but of course not a $500 upgrade. You can buy speakers that may deliver more oomph but doubt you are going to get much out of them if staying with the stock\factory 'radio'. These provide a night and day difference in dynamic range. I still have the stock speakers in the rear (soon to be remedied) and fading front to rear now realize just how God awful they are. Thought of trying a different pair in the rear, looked and looked, but after consideration think I would be setting myself up for disappointment given the Pioneers are a good match to the factory output. If I was going to add an amp and or a sub I might look elsewhere but since I am not I will just install these. Me and my wallet will happily rock on.

Pros: Hard to believe you can spend ~ $50 at this date and gain such a quality improvement. Included parts make it VERY simple. Easy, inexpensive fix well worth doing before your next road trip.

Cons: Ummm....It isn't $40 ?? lol Really none. You will kick yourself for not having done it sooner. So glad my factory speaker blew out.

Had bad left front speaker in 02 f-150. I bought two TS-G6845Rs and the sound is superior to the factory speakers. I then ordered 2 more for the rear. The reason for this purchase was the listed frequency response is 29khz compared to 20khz for most other speakers. I wasn't disappointed. Installation with the free supplied wiring harness was easy. For the price and quality of the Pioneer name it was a good buy. I'm glad I found Crutchfield website on the internet.

Really enjoyed these speakers. Installation was simple and easy. Used stock mounting points in our early 2000 Ford Ranger, and with the included wire harnesses, made the switch to aftermarket speakers a breeze. These speaker pump out the jams. Using an aftermarket radio, it supplies these speakers with plenty of power (50watts RMS on the headunit). They hit the lows and the highs without distorting even when cranking it up.Consider these perfect for a low budget upgrade when you're looking for performance and simplicity.

Pros: Easy to install. Even easier with the Crutchfield supplied wire harness. Lots of quality sound, no distortion.

Cons: You might want more powerful speakers if you plan on using it combined with an external amp. They work great however with just a headunit suppling power.

I'm using the stock stereo. These speakers are acceptable for the rear. I don't ride back there, but wanted a good balance. I listen to all types of music at a normal level, why rated acceptable. Not hard to beat the stock speakers in my 1994 Ford Ranger, but these sound awesome. Very good value for the budget minded person. Nice sound and excellent from mid to high range. These are not meant to provide a lot of bass, but work well enough in my extended cab truck. Do not expect mind blowing bass or you will be disappointed. I will be adding a subwoofer enclosure and amp to take care of the lows my system lacks. Overall, this is a good deal and Crutchfield supplies the speaker harness for my exact model truck. Speaker cuts out

Neal from North Carolina on 4/1/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers for my work truck in October 14'. They have absolutely no base response. The factory speakers did a better job in that aspect. I have had to replace them twice because something in the speakers keeps losing connection and the speakers cut in and out whenever I go over bumps. It only does it at lower volumes. Crutchfield has been great in sending me a replacement pair and I ship them back with a prepaid shipping label. Since I have a small 10inch sub these speakers sound great since they don't have to handle any low end. If these new pair don't work, I am going to have to replace them with a different speaker.

I tried my best to look for a product that would be a good replacement for my Taurus' front door speakers. This one seemed ok according to the reviews. After placing them in though I was very disappointed. The base is so weak compared to the factory speakers. There is distortion at higher volumes and peoples voices sound muffled. The reason for this I found out is that it has an extremely limited range.

Pros: The only positive is that I have two working speaks up front and in combination with the rear it all sounds....ok.

Cons: weak bass, muffled treble. not that great.

Perfect fit. I am a bit annoyed that I was led to purchase another brand for the rear door of my '02 F150 because these would have worked perfectly! Instead, I had to monkey with the other pair of speakers as they were too deep- deeper than these and did not have the range these did. Still...all worked out. With these as mains, the difference over stock is just absurd- sound great! 1997 Mercury Mountaineer
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed to replace the speakers in my '97 mercury mountaineer because the other ones were so bad it sounding like whoever was singing had a cold. When I purchased these I wasn't really expecting much from them but when I played Dark Horse by Katy Perry I was shocked at how much bass these had! My doors were rattling. Everything was so clear and crisp compared to the old paper factory speakers. I plan to replace the rear door speakers and the stereo itself soon. I bet they would sound even better with a new stereo. I just wish my car came with the JBL premium audio system when it was new so I would have a factory sub in the back but oh well I'm happy now!

Pros: Good sound for the price.

Cons: Can't think of any.

Great Little Speakers!

Frenchie from Orlando, FL on 2/9/2015

Got 4 of these speakers to replace all the factory ones in my 2010 F-150 XLT and couldn't be happier. I am no sound expert and I am sure pricier models would sound even better but for the price, there is a definite improvement over the factory. Speakers are a direct fit to the door panel and did not seem any mounting bracket. The only challenge in the process was putting back the door panel but that's on Ford fault. Everything else was a breeze, after watching some Youtube videos and had all 4 replaced in ~ 2-3 hours even with the panel trouble. Great value for the price.

Pros: Clearer, sharper sound than factory. Direct fit (no brackets needed)

Cons: None

Nice quality

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Better than factory speakers in truck, but the old speakers were also from the year 1994.

Pros: lively sounding, crisp mids and highs, but could use more bass. that probably isn't the speakers fault. a separate amplifier would make that better

Cons: nothing

I'm a simpleton, but these are great

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

What can I say? $50 for a good set of Pioneer speakers? I bought it and am glad I did. I waited 7 years to upgrade my factory speakers. The sound versus the factory speakers makes you feel like you just installed some rare German one-off system. And with how easy Crutchfield makes installation, it also helps you to feel silly why it wasn't done earlier.

Pros: Cheap, good sound quality, ease of install, Crutchfield process

Cons: Had to it myself...

Treated Cloth Surrounds: Each woofer uses a treated cloth surround for improved durability.

Tweeters: Each speaker features a 1-3/16" PEI (Polyetherimide) balanced dome tweeter for crisp, clear highs.

Size: These speakers fit many 5x7 and 6x8 applications.

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss installation. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Jeff  May 26, 2015 ]  Staff
You get what you pay for. These are a decent cost effective solution and will not give you a perfect sound. But they'll be pretty ok.. [ KENNETH  Mar 11, 2015 ]
Depends on what deck you're pushin them with. I myself have a pioneer touchscreen so I get a clear sound with all 4 pioneer speakers that I have. [ Jamaal  Mar 10, 2015 ]
A lot of that will depend on how they're installed, what's driving them and what your source material is. Having said all that I put these into my old Ford van as replacement door speakers and the sound is very clear even without a sub (I have several subs in the truck, but they go to my DJ sound systems and not the dash unit). I expect for the price these are a great replacement for stock speakers and I would hope you'll be as happy with them as I am with mine. [ Scott696d  Mar 10, 2015 ]
Hi Tanner - I don't have a sub installed, so I can't offer comments from direct experience. Still, these are nice-sounding speakers - not "amazing incredible" but nice, solid, balanced. I think they'd perform well with what you're planning - with less demand on them to produce low end, I think they'll sound quite good. [ Peter  Mar 10, 2015 ]
I put them in my son's car. They sound a lot better than the stock speakers. They would probably sound even better with some additional amplification. The stereo he has delivers 20W. He is pleased with their performance. [ Steve  Feb 06, 2015 ]
I installed these speakers along with a new stereo in my 2002 Mustang GT. I am very happy with the stereo, however I was not happy with the ability of these speakers to handle the base audio content I wanted. I chose to uninstall them and returned to my factory speakers, which are much heavier and more capable of handling the base content. In fairness to the speakers, Crutchfield's documentation warned that they may not match well with the factory amps in my Mustang, and suggested that I replace the amps, but I chose not to do this. In summary, these are pretty lightweight speakers, so if you really want good sounding base, I recommend you go with more powerful speakers. [ Lawrence  Feb 03, 2015 ]
I would rate the speakers as having average quality and bass sound for my vehicle. I would probably spend a few bucks more and look at some higher rated speakers if purchasing again. [ PATRICK  Feb 02, 2015 ]
The speakers are amazing I will say make sure you get the insulation for the doors from crutchfield its 30 bucks for 2 pads so your doors don't rattle. But otherwise great great speakers [ lexine  Feb 02, 2015 ]
The speakers sound fine as basic replacement speakers. I replaced all four in my daughters small Ford Focus ZX3. I also replaced the stereo unit with a nice new Sony unit. I have not really adjusted the Bass and Treble settings from the factory "zero" settings but something needs to be done for Bass. If you have access to a subwoofer I would suggest it. This car doesn't have a sub but needs one. So...probably not sufficient if looking for a lot of Bass just from the speaker itself but a nice sounding basic speaker. I'm looking for a cheap sub. [ Ted  Feb 02, 2015 ]
Sund quality is pretty good bit bass is not better than the original bose speakers but sounds great [ Enrique  Feb 01, 2015 ]
They're a good low cost replacement for factory speakers. Well worth the money. [ KENNETH  Feb 01, 2015 ]
Really good better than stock speakers. If you have a deck that can really push em even better and add an amp to just push the speakers then your ears might get blown. Mine are win pushed with a pioneer touch screen so I enjoy em [ Jamaal  Feb 01, 2015 ]
For details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle. [ Krissy  Jan 31, 2015 ]  Staff
