great replacement for the blown OEM speakers.
Average Customer Review(s):
great replacement for the blown OEM speakers.
Good speakers ...make a good instalation.... tomar en cuenta la polaridad de las cornetas para que puedan sonar bien.
Pros: Good sound and price
These sound fantastic over my OEM speakers. They were perfect fit for my 2003 VW Jetta. Also, have fantastic mids and highs
Pros: *amazing mids *amazing highs
Cons: NO BASS!!! - will need to get a sub if these speakers are in your car.
The Speakers were a perfect fit and the sound is good.
I purchased front and back Pioneer Speakers for my son's Honda Civic. The speakers have excellent sound quality particularly in mid-range and bass. They were easy to install with excellent step by step instructions. Very satisfied with this product.
Pros: 1. Great speakers for the price; 2. Easy installation; 3. Additional hardware that came with the speakers i.e. wiring harness and brackets
Purchased these Pioneer TS-G1644R Speakers to replace the factory door speakers in my '98 Camry. The old speakers seemed fine so I wasn't expecting much of a difference but I am thoroughly impressed with the way these speakers deliver. A noticeable upgrade with much more powerful and crisp sound. Well worth the price and installation was straightforward. Crutchfield does it again!
Pros: Great mid-range distinction - more power than the factory speakers.
Cons: None - very pleased with my purchase.
Speakers sound great and were a perfect replacement for my blown VW speakers.
Pros: Sound excellent.
Replaced my old speakers with these pioneers. Wow, what a difference these made! I can hear music very well even with windows rolled down going 70. Amazing product! Well done pioneer!
Pros: Very good speakers for the price. Fit perfectly.
Great bang for buck if your trying to improve the audio of your stock system. I learned that Subaru sound systems are the cheapest out and you can improve the quality of sound greatly by buying a pair of speakers just for the front 2 spots, even if they are on the cheaper end. I also have a Pioneer head unit so the combined power made a huge difference from the bone stock system. I simply drilled new holes for the speakers and installed them. Make Sure To Do Your Installation With Your Windows Down. This was the only real issue I had "post-install". I had connectivity problems after the first time I did it because the window was pulling the wires all over the place. Plug and play installation with the harnesses Crutchfield provides which was great! A common theme on here is the speakers not putting out enough bass. Compared to stock Suby sound this was an improvement in all audio categories: bass, mids and highs. If you want your car to rattle, man up and get a sub. These speakers will provide clear, crisp sound when cruising on the highway at 75 mph with the windows down. I also Did Not purchase baffles for the back of the speakers, it seemed like the inside of my doors didn't really get penetrated with water or debris, this may be different for your car, but that is all the baffles will do for you, They Will Not Improve Sound Quality. So that may save you some extra money. If you're 'ballin on a budget' these are the speakers for you.
Pros: Low cost, clear sound at high levels, easy install, Crutchfield provides harnesses
Cons: Can't complain with a price like that.
Went to a national chain store, which had this model, so I could compare before committing. Other speakers they had under $100/pair had very bad balance between bass/mid/treble, these speakers had at least adequate balance. A lot of people reviewing these speakers complain about a lack of bass, but to get as much bass (or more) as these Pioneers, I would have to move up to the cheapest set of Focal speakers (well over $100/pair). I was especially surprised that more expensive Kickers and Quinn had Less bass than these Pioneers. Of course, the speakers were all mounted in the wall, but I made sure these was no outboard amp enabled, and no sub, and used the same head unit for all comparisons. I was quite impressed by the sound quality at this price. I bought two pairs for my wife's 2000 Rav4. Since I would have all the interior panels off, I took the opportunity to Dynamat in the areas directly behind the speakers and also the first couple of inches (back and front) of the mounting area metal. Once installed, they sounded VERY good...until we got on the road. Above 40mph, the road noise makes sure that all we really hear is the bass. Need to set the head unit's loudness to "low" to hear other instruments while driving. There's just too much bass otherwise when road noise kicks in...really glad I used all that Dynamat, pretty sure it helped. Also went with a new Pioneer head unit (X7600HD). I can finally hear the speakers from the back cargo area!
Pros: Good balance between bass/mid/treble and very good bass for this price, Dynamat can improve it a little more. Install PDFs from Crutchfield were perfect, I would have broken something without them.
These were recommended by a big box store, but Crutchfield's support, installation guide, and necessary adapters included made this a no brainer to purchase from them. They confirmed these speakers were a fit for my car and helped find a compatible and complementary rear set.
Pros: Great sound and price.
Not really as punchy as I thought they would be. Luckily I have a box with a 12 inch sub that I added to make up for it.
Pros: Inexpensive or should I say "competitively priced"
Cons: No real low end.
Great speaker for the money installed in 02 accord running off alpine head unit, clear highs no a lot of bass but ok no complaints.
Pros: Great hight and mid bass.
These work great for my 97 TJ. The 6.5's fit in the stock roll bar mount as my stock ones were blown out (speaker surround was gone). Running a Pioneer head unit which makes the combo sound great. I highly recommend these speakers if your on a budget.
Replaced 1 ohm 8" Bose double speakers in both doors eliminating separate tweeters. These 4 ohm speakers are mounted on a masonite ring to fit in existing spot, connected to original wiring with crimp splices. Results are superior sound. Great!
Pros: Replacement for paper speakers which were rubbing coil to armature - awful distortion.. The impedance match not a problem and operates with the existing front and rear speakers carrying a nice balance and volume level at about 1 point in 30 total range higher.
Cons: none known after a week!
I bought 2 sets of these speakers for my 2003 Dakota Club Cab. They fit perfect with the supplied wiring and mounting adapters! Awesome sound for the price!
Pros: Easy Installation
Better quality than stock speakers, easy installation, and quick shipping! Very satisfied
Bought to replace the rear speakers in an 2007 GMC Canyon Crew Cab. The sound is a lotbetter than factory. They do lack a little in the bass department but for the price they are what I expected. I am completely satisfied, they were well worth the purchase price and I wouldn't hesitate buying them again.
Pros: Great value, Descent sound and Easy installation. Mounting brackets & wiring harness included
Cons: Lack deep bass, but met expectaions.
These speakers are great! They are way better then the OEM speakers that came with my 2006 Honda Civic and now it matches up great with my rear subwoofer. For the money you cannot go wrong. The install instructions were on the money! Thank you again Crutchfield for everything!
Pros: Sound Quality Clarity
Compared to my blown factory speakers, these are a huge upgrade. Overall, nothing too special though. Highs and mids are relatively clear. It took a lot of EQ adjustments on my head unit to make the bass sound decent. Basically, I minimized all the bass settings. The lack of bass is probably due to these speakers being so shallow. They were one of the few that fit my Suzuki. And they fit PERFECTLY, just like Crutchfield said they would. The new speaker even used the factory mounting holes, no drilling required. These speakers are nothing special, but for the price I paid, I am very happy. With a crossover and a decent sub, they could be part of a pretty solid system. Guitars seem to sound especially good on these speakers. Most rap music sounds bad because the bass distorts or has to be turned down. But if I had to pay full price, I'd get a pair of sony xplod speakers for the same money.
Pros: cheap, shallow mounting depth, decent mids and highs. fit my car perfectly. can play loud without distortion if bass is lowered
Cons: lack of bass is an issue, even for a 6.5"
Replaced factory speakers in my Sierra. Great sound. Crisp highs. No distortion playing loud.
Pros: Inexpensive. Easy install.
Used these to replace rear speakers in an 08 GMC quad can. These speakers sound way better than factory. My only complaint is that they lack a little in the bass department. However, I'm completely satisfied overall. They were well worth the purchase price and I wouldn't hesitate buying them again.
Pros: Good value Descent sound Easy install
Cons: Lack deep bass
M ce bass and clear sound!
Good sound. Easy install.
Installed the Pioneer TS-G1644R speakers with grills attached in my 2009 Avalanche. Fit perfectly with wiring and bracket supplied by Crutchfield.the door panel factory cover remains intact when installing back on door. The sound is fantastic, better than factory at a great price. Thanks Crutchfield!
Pros: Great Sound!
Sound is good for what these cost. The people complaining about no bass should understand these aren't meant to blow out windows. Mine are running off factory amp and put out a fair amount of bass for a door speaker. Not amped they won't blow your socks off, if you want bass, get subs! Duh. They are good for mids and highs which they are intended for.
Pros: Cheap, good sound, a name you can trust
Cons: None so far
Installed these in a 1992 Mustang Convertible Door. Screws were just a little off, but all three screws did work in the original holes. Nice update over the 22 year speakers.
Pros: Fit in doors pretty well. Great crisp sound.
Do an excellent job in rear of my 92 Camaro Convertible. Good sound.
Pros: Good sound. Good bass.
Excellent speaker...sound wonderful
Pros: All parts needed to installed was provided and instruction....will recommend this speaker to other. Great company
Good factory replacement / slight upgrade. Factory setup usually relies on these for bass, which they don't excel at (understandably so).
Bought speakers for my daughter's 1st car. She's enjoying them. Great speakers for the price.
Pros: sounds good
Excellent drop in replacement for the Subaru front speakers. Much better sound for this price range.
Pros: good bang for the buck
Excellent sound definition...just what I wanted. Very clear mids and highs....bass as well.
These are great speakers, especially if you are wanting to replace your stock drivers with something a little more powerful. Good definition and range for the price.
Pros: Box comes with everything you need to ensure a seamless installation. Speakers sound real nice.
Cons: As others have already mentioned, the bass is not too defined, but that is what you get a sub for anyway. The installation was very tight for my Dodge Stealth as far as the stock grills go. There was only about 2 mm of space between the face of the tweeter and the back of the stock grill. It 'fits' fine, just be careful not to accidentally kick the grill or you may damage the tweeter.
Looked online through Crutchfield. They offered options for replacements for my stock speakers. Cant go wrong with Pioneer. I got speakers, wiring and brackets with instructions at a great price. Glad the garbage GM installed is gone.
Pros: Great price, free shipping and all accessories.
these are great replacement speakers considering the stock speakers they replaced. The highs are nice and crisp. a bit lacking in the bass department but 6x9's in front and planned subwoofer installation should compensate. Overall, the mids and highs are good.
Pros: great sound
Cons: used primarily for mids and highs, so the lack of bass doesn't really bother me.
Sound better than factory. They are hooked to a factory stereo with no amp so can't fully appreciate the quality, however they are better than OEM speakers. Crutchfield has great, fast service and free install gear made the install FAST. First speaker took 30 minutes....the other 3 took 45 minutes combined (once I got the hang of it)
Pros: Easy install....free install kit was priceless
I purchased these speakers along with the TS-G1344R speakers to replace my factory stereo system, based on all the positive reviews they got, that was a mistake. These speakers sound blown right from the beginning and can not handle talk radio or classic rock, let alone metal music with heavier bass.
Cons: Quality, no bass whatsoever
I mounted these in the parcel shelf of my 85 Saab 900. They make a huge difference over the factory size speakers back there. And the magnets are not so heavy as to bow the parcel tray.
Pros: Good sound. Light weight.
Both passenger side speakers in my Subaru Baja stopped working so I picked up 4 of these to replace the originals. They sound quite a bit better than the stock speakers. I notice the biggest difference in the mid-range frequencies. The product guide said I would have to do some trimming to get them to fit, but they went right in with no trimming needed.
Pros: Good sound for the money.
Excellent Upgrade for stock speakers. They work well with Stock CD/Radio. Low cost and Good sound. Replaced all four Stock speakers in my Base Model 08 Fit with these.
When my stock speaker went dead I decided I just wanted a replacement. I received the set of 2 speakers, along with the adapter wires and insets (thanks to Crutchfield) and decided to replace both. With the help of some Utube videos and Crutchfield's commitment to providing their customers with all the adapters for my vehicle, I had a very pleasant experience. I even bought a second set for the back!
Pros: Great sound quality for a decent price. Ample upgrade from stock speakers.
Cons: Decent bass when adjusted on my stereo
These Pioneer speakers were a big improvement in quality of sound compared to the factory speakers located in our Saturn Outlook doors. Full and loud sound with deeper bass and much more accuracy and clarity.
Great sound for the price
Pros: Great sound Low price Easy fit
Good sound for the money. Easy install and good directions
Pros: Better than OEM
Cons: your get what you pay for.
Speakers were shipped out quickly. Very easy to install with included factory clips for my Honda Del Sol.
I got these to replace some blown stock speakers. I wasn't expecting anything spectacular, but they are ok. They are just good basic stock replacement speakers for a good price. Don't expect loads of bass, but the mids and highs come through nicely. These are 6.5" speakers after all, if you want bass, go get a sub. Over all, if you want to save some money and just need good stock replacement speakers with a slight upgrade these are it.
Pros: Sound decent, better than most stock speakers.
Cons: Don't handle bass well, but they are a 6.5" 2-way, not a subwoofer.
Awsome Sound , Great Match to my Pioneer Radio!
Pros: Quality / Price
These speakers have good sound quality, especially with a aftermarket head unit that's equalizer is adjustable. I'm sure they will be great with some real power put to them!
Pros: Mids and highs are very clear
Cons: Low range quality needs an amp to bring out its best
Not an audiophile but these speakers sound great! Take all kinds of music without sounding tinny. Handles bass well.
Pros: Price, build, ease of installation and Crutchfield assistance is outstanding as always.
Good speakers for my Blazer application. Much better then the stock ones, which blew out with my kids music. Pushing them with the stock radio, most probably would sound better with an upgraded stereo. 4 star rating since I do not know how they would sound with a better stereo.
Pros: easy install with the Crutchfield kit and instructions.
Cons: none so far.
Sound good. better than stock
Cons: Wish they were a little louder.
These speakers sounded worse than stock in my 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe, although they appear more durable. The tonal balance was fine in the mids/highs, but the bass had an unpleasant peak in the "upper bass" range with a sharp dropoff on the low end- even when compared to other speakers in this size and price range. Trying to compensate for the lacking bass by using tone controls resulted in the woofers quickly reaching their limits. I swapped these out for Kicker DSC65s, which were well worth the additional money for a much more solid bass presentation and almost as good balance in the mid/upper range.
Pros: Decent performance to price ratio for mid and high frequency response
Cons: Slightly harsh sounding, and lack bass quality- even when compared to similar size/price speakers
I purchased four of these for my wife's 2005 VW Golf. After almost years , my wife's stereo was sounding a little shabby. No bass to speak of, and just sounded tinny. I purchased a JVC KW-R710as well and that helped tremendously. However, when I saw the quality of these speakers and the VW speakers, I had to act. I installed the Pioneers and it was evident. The music was everywhere and it was amazing.
Pros: Beautiful build quality and great bass response. Let me be up front here. I know most people nowadays like that thumping bass, we don't. So, when I say great bass response, this in reference to normal listening volume.
Great speaker for the price. Sounds extremely good with factory stereo.
First let me start off by saying that I wasn't originally planning on replacing the stock speakers in the doors of my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and was just planning on replacing the radio. Shortly after installing my new radio, I realized that my factory speakers did not sound great. I was on a budget, and these were great for almost $80 for two pairs. They fit well into my Jeep's doors (just used self-tapping screws and spliced in the factory speaker wiring), and sound great as compared to my stock speakers. They don't have booming bass, but work great for factory speaker replacement. They have 250 watts maximum power, and would sound great, even when paired to a factory radio. Another goal was to get speakers that you couldn't tell I replaced them from behind the door panel grills, and these fit the bill. (:
Pros: Hide behind factory door panels, Fit well into doors, Sound awesome, Great factory speaker replacements!
Cons: No booming bass, but still sound great!
hooked 4 of them to my Subaru, they sound awesome
Great sound and perfect fit as if OEM.
Pros: Sound and installation
Great speakers! Purchased on sale with pioneer deck for replacement in friends Camry. Super easy install with Crutchfield brackets.
Good quality sound over my stock speakers. Great support from Crutchfield as well!
easy to install by my self.. Brackets made it easy and wiring adapter was great ... As usual Crutchfield done great on sending correct part
Pros: sound great
Good sound quality. Used to replace factory 6x9. Better quality sound with comparable depth of sound range.
Outstanding value, Good sound for the money, my daughter loves them!
Quality of the construction of the speaker is very good, sound is very pleasing also. price is very affordable. very easy to install in my Subaru Impreza 1995. I had all the hardware and instructions included.
Pros: easy installation, Sound is supper.....
Cons: None for me
Great two 2 day to get here and the product is great with any aftermarket radio
Pros: Sound great easy to install
Crutchfield made installation easier than ever. Speakers were in 30 min later and I just installed the pioneer XT double din in my Honda civic. I'll be coming back and telling all of my friends
Pros: Quick install, easy instructions, great sound from Pioneer
Cons: Speaker bracket adapter bolts don't always fit tight
Clear sound for the price.
Pros: Good midrange and highs
Cons: Very poor bass.
They sound beautiful. I replaced the premium sound speakers with these and I was astonished by how clear and crisp every sound flowed through. I am ordering another set to do my rear doors.
These speakers sound great. Nice crisp sound. They were extremely easy to set up.
Pros: Cheap Easy to install Great sound
Cons: None that I have encountered.
Great replacement speakers for my 2500HD Silverado. Fast shipping, easy install and great sound.
Pros: Easy to install with included wire adapters. Only had to drill holes for screws.
These speakers sound amazing! With the bracket and and harness provided by Crutchfield made instillation a breeze! Id recommend these to anyone.
Pros: Sounds great!
Cons: Had to install bracket for proper fitting
Purchased for 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT1. These were installed in the door to replace the original stock speakers. The original speakers are 4x6 with the tweeter in the door sail. I had to make a bracket (known ahead of time) in order to mount these speakers in the 4x6 door location.
Pros: Inexpensive speakers to get sound back into my car.
Cons: These get out paced by the rear speakers a little bit.
We installed 2 pairs of these in my friend's 1988 Nissan 300ZX replacing the stock speakers that were worn out. My friend was very happy with the sound and the Price!
Pros: Great Value, Clean Sound on a Budget!
Excellent quality of speaker for an excellent price!
These were matched to a kenwood cnx890dh great match up. They were installed front and rear doors of a 2011 subaru forester 2.5x limited. They fit with no changes. Sound is great when you set the equalizer. Love em.
Pros: Good match on this car and equipment.good price too.
Nice speakers, great highs, the bass is a little burpy but overall great sound.
Pros: Easy Install, Clean Sound
Cons: Not to Deep of Bass
I replaced the factory speakers in my Toyota Matrix XR since I was updating the factory stereo to a Bluetooth unit. These sound pretty nice with my new Alpine. Turns out, my factory speakers weren't blown at all and still quite tight. The factory speakers weren't two-way, which might have lent to their slight deeper bass response. But, now with these 2-way speakers, I actually here voices in music and talk radio much better. They're tight sounding, not muddy, just not super deep as far as bass.
Pros: Low price Good sound Quality assembly - no dents in cones, good soldering, no scratches, nothing off-center Quality packaging All pieces were there Mounting bracket kit included by Crutchfield Great packaging and shipping by Crutchfield
Cons: A bit weak on bass (but I guess I should expect on a low-profile 2-way 6.5" speaker)
Nice speaker replacement for my 2006 honda civic. Not much bass, but that is expected for a speaker of this size. Much clearer than stock speakers.
Love the speakers. They shipped very quickly and took about an hour to install in my 99 Tacoma front doors. Great sound and good bass compared to factory. had to modify the Metra wiring harness sent with the speakers slightly to make them work with the mounts but all in all i'm happy with them so far.
Pros: Great bass Fits perfectly in 1999 Tacoma Ext Cab front doors
Cons: None to speak of so far
easy to order installation was easy especially with free wire harness product sounds great and the price was fantastic
I bought this for my 2014 Honda CRV. This vehicle has an integrated AV system so I only wanted to upgrade the speakers, but am not interested in buying a sound processor, an amp, and a subwoofer. That being said, I specifically chose this Pioneer model because it (supposedly) can reproduce frequencies down to 31 Hz. Well, turns out that was a lie. The mids and highs sparkle, but there is no bass whatsoever. I have Polk Audio LSi9 speakers in my living room, and those produce deeper bass at it's low end of 38 Hz. Heck, the awful stock speakers in the CRV produced better bass. Either Pioneer's specifications have a typographical error, or the claim of being able to dig down to 31 Hz is an outright misrepresentation. Buy this model of speaker if you want a reasonably priced, well-made speaker to provide clarity over stock speakers. But don't make the same mistake I did and buy them for their purported range. You'll be disappointed and like me, will never trust Pioneer specifications ever again. Also, be warned: Crutchfield does NOT have a mastersheet for the 2012-2014 Honda CRV. This is NOT specifically mentioned anywhere on the website. If you are buying equipment for this vehicle, you are on your own when it comes to installation. Very disappointing purchase experience overall. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Pros: Great mids and highs. Good price. Reasonably well made.
Cons: No bass. None whatsoever. No really. It's not there.
Great sound. Bought these to match Pioneer 6 by 9 rear speakers I recently purchased from Crutchfield. With the Pioneer DEH-P4100UB receiver I also purchased form Crutchfield I now have a nicely balanced system. I highly recommend these speakers. Now I actually have bass coming from my front doors. Actually sometimes rattles the windows when I turn the volume up high.
Pros: Crutchfield supplies all necessary components for an easy install. Great communication with the seller.
Cons: Mounting bracket sent with the speakers needed some modification. No big deal though.
Great speakers for the price !
Pros: Sound great.......easy install
Great product, excellent sound & good price
Product was easy to install following Crutchfield instructions and performs well
Sounds great. easy installation.
Pros: Price, sound, value.
Purchased these speakers to replace the factory speakers that had blown and I was not disappointed. Speakers sound much better than the factory ones and they were at a great price.
Pros: Price, overall sound.
Speakers are great!! Very good deal. Very happy with them.
Great speakers for the price, very happy with them. Everything I needed for installing them came with. Put them in a 2007 Silverado, replaced all 4 factory speakers
great speakers for the money. I replaced all 4 speakers in my Honda Fit and this changed the system from night to day!
Pros: great sound
Cons: non yet
Great quality for the price.
Used these to replace the ten year old door speakers in my Lexus RX300 truck. Installation went quickly and smoothly. Supplied harness and bezels lined up perfect! Sound is cleaner and louder than before.
Pros: Good sound, handle power smoothly.
Cons: Not ultra high quality like Infiniti.
Nice fit for the rear door location and they sound good.
Pros: Once you figure out the mounting bracket, they slip right back into the original location.
Cons: None that I'm aware of.
great product for the price
Got them installed with few issues. The front set had mounting hardware, this set of back speakers did not. About 10 minutes of searching through my nuts and bolts found what I needed. They sound great. Now I can listen with the volume closer to 20 percent rather than 80 percent. Also glad I ordered the speaker baffles. Followed one suggestion in the reviews that said to cut the whole bottom our for the best sound. He was right.
Pros: Fit in the existing factory speaker holes, Appears to be a quality speaker for the price Included wiring harness eliminated any soldering/splicing
Cons: No mounting hardware
Replaced stock speakers in my impala that died. These are a great improvement.
Pros: Clear sound quality. Good bass and treble.
Sounds Great! Good technical support for wiring in my 2001 SAAB 9-3
I was so happy to get my speakers today, until I heard them. I checked the specs on lots of 6 1/2 and 6 3/4 speakers and this looked like it was the best. I hope not. Though I didn't expect them to shake my whole van, I expected them to sound better than the factory units I just pulled out, but they didn't. THAT is sad.
Pros: Decent price
Cons: Worse than my factory speakers.
Great pair of speakers. Paired with my new Pioneer radio I can tune the sound to meet my expectations. Works very well together and produces clear highs without distortion. I highly recommend these speakers in this price range.
Pros: Fit perfectly in 98 Toyota Tacoma front doors with Crutchfield supplied speaker mounting brackets.
Cons: Metra 71-042C Speaker Wiring Harnesses was not long enough without having to reroute from original bracket.
For the price you can not go wrong.
I installed these speakers in the doors of a 1972 MGB . They really shouldn't fit. I needed to purchase some 1/2" spacer rings to bring the speakers out from the door panels to get clearance. I had already cut the door panels for a previous install and just figured that I could make it work. Hey, it's an open cockpit MG! There should be a balance between "tunes" and exhaust note. I love my tunes, but I'd take the sound of the exhaust every time!
Pros: Price/value...ease of installation (with spacers/ rings).
Cons: None at the price paid.
I purchased 2 pairs to replace the worn out stock speakers located in the doors of my Jeep Grand Cherokee,1998. I paired them up with the existing pioneer head unit installed at an earlier date.Installation was a breeze thanks to Crutchfield's kit.speakers sound better than expected, crisp mid range and high end.I'd recommend a sub woofer for a good bottom end, In closing, I think they are an outstanding value, buying another pair for my chevy k1500.
Pros: clear, crisp sound .no distortion, rugged, durable construction, quality materials.
Cons: weak bass, but, you have to consider the size of speakers and their location in the vehicle.
Very nice quality. Easy install
Very dissapointed in the sound of these speakers. Bass is non-existent. Highs are good and mids are average.
Cons: Bass and midrange
Great product at a great price
These speakers are good for the money but they have no bass only mids and highs so make sure you got a sub to back that up
Pros: Good for money Good speaker Easy installation
Cons: No basd
I bought these speakers to replace factory fronts in a 2008 impala, I was looking for something as good or a bit better than the oem speakers. They showed up fast, great price, and with the free mounting kit, it was a great deal. This was the first time I had ever put speakers in a car, so I don't know if there all the same or not, but the factory speakers in my car, were built in to the mounting bracket, with no way to take them apart. the mounting kit that came with these fit perfectly, easy to install, sound great, the whole thing took me about an hour. For the reviews that say they don't have enough bass, or range, I would tell them to either learn how to use their equalizer, or if you want your car to sound like it's shaking apart, spend more than $50 on your sound system. The sound is great, way better the the factory setup. I did have to call customer support, but it was my fault, didn't realize the instructions were e-mailed, but they were very helpful, fast and friendly, and I was even able to understand what they were saying
Pros: Good price, perfect mounting kit, great sound, customer support was very helpful, and they even speak english as a first language :)
Great factory replacements
Pros: Louder then stock , and sound clear , these speakers are a great pair to run off of a stock deck they can make decent sound With as low as 2 rms ... And have 91db sensitivity (always get speakers that are over 90 sensitivity when running stock deck. ) they didn't fit my evo properly and I needed a 1" adapter plate and had to modify it with a drill for it to fit
Cons: Didn't fit without modified adapter
They installed easily and they sound great.
These speakers are great! Put them in a Buick Lesabre with a aftermarket head unit and they have an incredible clear sound. Can handle up to 45/50 volume before they begin distorting. (usually listen to music at around 25-35.) W/o Vol. Adjustment set any higher than +0 and bass boost OFF.
Pros: Clear sound.
Cons: Nothing honestly
Fantastic sound quality now comes from my front doors. Bass in punchy but not overpowering. With the ease of installation and bang for the buck, there"s no way to go wrong.
Pros: Sound quality, solid bass, and value
bought these to replace a pair of blown out factory speakers in my 2006 Trailblazer. ok for the higher ranges, but bass is almost non-existant. If I had been smart enough to keep the box, I'd return them but will have to settle for selling them online. I have a different pair in my front doors that sound much better.
Pros: very easy installation, sound better than the factory speakers
Cons: poor low range
After narrowing it down online, I called Crutchfield to get a recommendation. After talking about the car, the existing system, and the music, the Pioneers speakers were suggested. They arrived in two days. I was busy so had to wait until the weekend to install. The install went smoothly, even after having to deal with someone having cut out the factory connectors in the front doors. These speakers sound great in the 2001 CR-V. A good speaker for the price.
Pay no mind to the bad reviews, these sound better than any cheap speaker when used strictly for highs and mids. Pair a subwoofer and name brand head unit for a well balanced system. (I use a kenwood head unit, these pioneer speakers in the rear, Polk speakers in the door panels and a 10" infinity subwoofer in the trunk)
Pros: Inexpensive Outstanding highs/mids Easy instructions Included screws, wires & grills Low Profile design
Cons: Poor bass output
These speakers went into a 2001 GMC Sonoma to replace the blown out 12 year old factory speakers. Installation took less than 2 hours with minimal tools. Crutchfield makes it easy with included installation instructions and adapters. Speakers sound great and are a huge improvement over the OEM speakers, I can now hear music while driving on the highway with the windows down.
Pros: -Easy to install -Great Sound -Good Price
great sound and quality.
Speakers look nice, but sound like Crap. Total down grad from factory speakers. My 2002 Trailblazer factory speakers blow these away big time. Do not buy these speakers if you don't have a Sub-woofer. These speakers output absolutely no Bass at all. Even if I Max out the Bass setting on my radio. The bass on these speakers sound like a "thong" sound as if you were to bang your hands on a empty spastic bucket. After a week, I couldn't get used to it, I replaced them with Kickers - Way much better. There should be a note on these stating: Bass tube or sub-woofer required and not included. I don't know what happened to Pioneer with this one.
Pros: They look nice. Mid and high range sound ONLY - good for AM radio only
Cons: No Bass at all. Zero, I wouldn't install them in my car even if they were free. Item has been retuned.
Easy install, great price, great sound from a factory head unit. I will be replacing the broken rear speakers with this same model.
Pros: Slim fit easily.
The new Pioneer speakers sound great in my '07 Chevy Truck. With the provided installation instructions, getting to the speakers was easy. I also bought mounting brackets that easily work with these speakers for an easy no-drill installation.
Pros: Great sound for the price.
I bought these speakers to replace the blown out speakers in my 2007 Civic Hybrid. They were a great replacement at the price they are sold at. I am running this off my stock head unit (in dash GPS), and these work perfectly. The first day they sounded a little bit hollow, but after the speakers broke in after a day or two, they started to sound really great.
Pros: Great value for the price you pay
Able to install speakers with minimal fuss. Directions given were not 100% accurate to my vehicle - more like 95% - but the web covered any differences. Mounting slots for speaker are slightly oversized for screw holes on vehicle, but by angling the screws they will fit. Speakers work great for the price I paid.
Pros: price, sound, ease of installation
Cons: mounting slots slightly big for holes
I purchased these to replace stock speakers in my RV. I'm very happy with the sound for the price. They have a much better range than the original speakers.
Pros: Good sound, Good Price
Cons: Non I can think of.
There are several pairs of $50 speakers, I ordered these to replace the door speakers in my 1998 maxima. The install took me about 40 minutes for the pair. The fit was not perfect since the four screw holes did not line up exactly, but I made it work with minimal effort. The speakers sound fine, I'm very happy with them for $50.
Pros: inexpensive, easy to install
Sounds a bit more clear than factory speakers
Pros: sounds good
very nice speaker
These speakers sound great! Bass, mids and highs are all well balanced and they sound much better than the factory speakers! Installtion was a little difficult because of the 3 wireing harnesses that I had to un plug.
Pros: Well balanced bass, mids and highs
Excellent product, easy to install
So happy to have front speakers again! Excellent price; They sound great and were a snap to install. Thank you again to Crutchfield for making it possible for me to get what I needed.
Pros: Easy to install and sound great in my Civic.
Good price; however it was recommended through my vehicle finder as a sure fit. It does not fit significantly smaller in size as well sound. The quality and sound of my blown stock sound much better than what was provided. Otherwise shipping was adequate, price was fair. Overall though highly displeased.
Pros: Price, shipping
Cons: Wrong size, quality
I purchased two pairs of the Pioneer TS-G1644R speakers to replace four factory speakers in my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have owned these speakers for a little over a year, and couldn't be happier. The sound quality is excellent, better than my factory speakers ever were. The power output is 250 watts max, so they can handle a lot of power. Plus, they fit well behind my Jeep's door panels, and they are barely noticeable, until you hear them, of course, which you will then be able to know they're there. I just used self-tapping screws and spliced the factory speaker wiring into them, and that saved me money in the long run. If you need replacement speakers and either don't feel like trying to track down factory speakers or don't want to spend a lot of money, then these speakers are for you! (:
Pros: Great Bass and Treble Response, Great Midrange Response, 250w Max Power Output, Barely Physically Noticeable, Sound Great, Low Price (:
Cons: Bass is a Bit Lacking :(
Speakers sound good and were reasonably priced.
Pros: Nice sound
Cons: Did not fit application as I was told they would. That was my main concern. Had to build speaker boxes for them.
These speakers sound pretty good. They are a bit tinny and the bass response is not what I expected from the specs. What the specs don't tell you is that the bass response is at -30dB not -3dB like most manufacturers use. So the actual response is down to only about 100Hz at -3dB. A bit disappointing but not bad for the price because the quality makes up for it a bit. Next I will spend the extra $30 and get the Polks. I know for a fact they are speced correctly and sound awesome in my friends car with the same setup I have.
Pros: Price. Quality
Cons: Tinny. Misleading specs.
Great speakers for the money!
Pros: Great sound quality.
Installed in Subaru Legacy with no problems. Not a bad speaker for someone who wants to keep the factory head unit that doesn't put out great power. Great for the price.
Cons: None for price point
Great quality for the price!
Shortly after I installed a new radio into my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I discovered that my factory speakers were blown (I had the standard four-speaker system, NOT the Infinity premium sound system with six speakers and an amplifier). I needed a relatively low-priced and good-sounding option from a reputable manufacturer. I saw these, and their low price and good sound quality was attractive. They have a high power rating, so they can handle any amplifier up to 250 watts, though I used my radio's built-in high-power amplifier to power them. I purchased two pairs of these, one pair for both front doors, and one pair for both rear doors. They installed easily (I used self-tapping screws and drilled new mounting holes in the doors of my Jeep for my new speakers, and I cut off the factory speaker wiring harnesses and spliced my Jeep's factory door speaker wiring right into my new speakers). They sound awesome, and I can turn up the volume on my radio without having to worry about crackling or watery-sounding speakers. Plus, they're barely, if at all, noticeable at all, behind my Jeep's door panels, so you can't always see them, but you can most definitely hear them. All in all, a great purchase for people looking to replace their vehicle's factory speakers! Highly recommended! (:
Pros: Barely noticeable, look great, and sound even better, cheap to buy, sound better than they cost
Cons: Not enough bass, but still better than stock (:
Installed this in a 2001 Subaru Forester. Choose these speakers over the Kenwood and JVC due to the product reputation. All three of these speakers were an "exact fit" according to the Crutchfield online vehicle speaker guide. Installation took 20 minutes for both speakers. The speaker grill on my vehicle can be popped out in a few seconds which made the install fairly simple. Installation time could have been quicker but I let my teenage son install both speakers with a ratchet screwdriver instead on my 18v Makita.....didn't want to strip the screws. The harness kit fit perfect and 3 screws holding the speaker was a breeze to install. The TS-G1644R has decent bass with the highs having more of a midrange dominance. I prefer more of a flatter midrange and crisper highs instead. With that being said these speakers are a huge improvement over my stock ones! I'm running a Pioneer head unit with no amp. Might also want to consider Alpine or Polk speakers because in my opinion sound a little better but at 2x the price. My main goal was to purchase good speakers at a reasonable price due to my car being 12 years old. Just passed this car to my teenage son. Going to miss this car!
Pros: Reasonable, easy install, good sound and Pioneer. 2nd day air shipping.
Cons: More midrange tones and lacking more of a punchy bass. An amp may help.
I bought these to upgrade my factory system and because of their low price. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I bought 4 and returned them to Crutchfield. Thankfully Crutchfield has an excellent return policy. I installed these in a 2012 GMC Sierra and they were no improvement over the factory speakers. In fact, the factory speakers had much better bass. These did not have much bass at all and the highs were no better than factory. They played all midrange sound and would be great for talk radio but that's about it. Spend just a little more money and get a lot more speaker.
Pros: They are cheap and easy to install.
Cons: Most everything else.
Hate to ping Pioneer...not really their fault, especially at this price point, but not the most robust speaker, but they are efficient. My biggest problem was with the Crutchfield description of "fits your vehicle". I could have installed a 1" component tweeter in place of the door speaker and it would have "fit" as well as this 6-1/2. The speaker would have completely fallen into the door if not for the tiny tabs meant for 6-3/4" mounting. There simply wasn't enough speaker to fill the hole. I had to make custom adapter plates to make these fit properly. Furthermore, the factory wiring plug was so far away from the speaker that the "free" adapters were way too short. I had to lengthen them by about 6-7 inches to plug these speakers in.
Pros: low price, attractive, efficient
Cons: on the wimpy side, but how can I complain at this price?
part of a four speaker upgrade love pioneer equipment
Good overall sound at low to medium volumes.
Cons: Weak bass at any volume.
Very easy installation (2008 Chevrolet Impala) and great sound. I bought these speakers to replace the stock door speakers. The issue was the stock front door speakers would work intermittently, doing some research found that changing the speakers would solve the issue. These speakers have a lot better sound than the stock speakers. The supplied installation instructions covered everything needed to get the door panels off and speakers installed. Total time from start to finish was just under an hour. I read some reviews about the speakers have no bass sound, this might be true if someone is installing the speakers without the mounting adaptor kit. When I was testing the speakers I set the speaker in the speaker hole in the door to test that sound was coming out, the sound was tinny sounding, but once the mounting adaptor was installed and the speaker secured to the door the sound was amazing. There's one step in the installation instructions that says to remove the door release cable from the door panel. My doors the cable was really in there hard, and I didn't want to force / break the plastic retainer, there was enough slack in the cable that I was able to lean the door panel on the door and had adequate access to the speaker without issue.
Pros: Great sound, installation was easy (less than 30 minutes per door). Crutchfield installation instructions were spot on.
Cons: The sound is so good that now I need to find better speakers for the rear deck.
speakers easy to install with supplied instructios
Pros: sound much better than stock speakers
I put a pair of these in my 98 Cadillac STS to replace the 8" midrange woofers in the Bose sytem. These made a huge difference. The output level was pretty much the same but the clarity and depth was much improved. Install was simple, just used the stock baskets from the 8" woofers and drilled new holes for the Pioneers. As people have said the bass response is a bit weak, but it's just a 6.5" coax, there is only so much it can do. I'm running a sub anyway and my system sounds really well balanced.
Pros: Price Quality Easy of installation
Cons: Bass response Surround feels a bit thin
I Put these speakers in my 97 dodge dakota. For 50 dollars they are everything you payed for. They are not too strong in the bass category, but When put with a descent sub they are a great uprade from factory speakers and come at a price that is not going to break your bank. Pioneer is a good and trusted brand for me now and when i look to upgrade again I will look to pioneer.
I was very disappointed to find no improvement in fidelity for my 2002 Tahoe, Wasted considerable money and the time of installation.
I'm very happy with these speakers, nice clean sound, easy to install. Handles the power of the new receiver I installed with them. Perhaps I was warned by other reviews, or the fact that the original speakers were pretty crappy ('99 Subaru base model Forester stock speakers) to start with and one was blown to boot, but the base response is adequate if not overwhelming.... but I'm not listening to death grunge anyways. If you want great base response, I think you need bigger speakers and/or subwoofer, but these are fine. The point is, don't fret on the base response when reading the reviews, or think about spending real money if that is really important to you. Overall, great sound for the price (and size).
Pros: Good sound, easy install
These speakers provided a great improvement over the stock speakers in a Subaru Forester, particularly providing much more base. We got them because we didn't want to sacrifice trunk space for a subwoofer but wanted better bass. They exceeded my expectations, and installation was relatively easy with the accessories from Crutchfield.
Great sound!!!! Super easy install!!!
Pros: Prefect match for my SUV
Cons: None so far
No complaints here. I needed a low wattage speaker to go with a 17w per channel digital signal processori installed in the car. These were a great and affordable option.
Pros: Clean sound
Cons: Low wattage may not be suitable for all situations. They seem a bit weak in the lower midrange but mids and highs sound good and a sub helps fill the gap
works well with my stock stereo.
bought these pioneer speakers to replace middle speakers in my 'conversion van'. tremendous improvement over the ford OEM's. plan to replace the remaining speakers as well. very nice sound for the $. thanks crutchfield
Pros: easy, simple, installation. a true 'plug-n-play'. sound great !
Cons: none so far.
great sounding speaker, and as, usual pioneer quality, easy install, 1 hour for both doors.
My reason for choosing the Pioneer TS-G1644R speakers was the cost/performance tradeoff. I am completely happy with the sound and with the ease with which I was able to install them.
Pros: Good Sound, low cost. Budget minded.
For the money you pay for these speakers they are a good value. Pioneer has been a quality audio provider for as long as I can remember and this is another quality product from them. These speakers were to replace some failed factory speakers, I would not say the bass is any better but the sound is clearer and you can tell this a better quality built product with just a visual inspection. The one additional piece I would to add is Crutchfield is the way to go. They included the mounting bracket that worked perfect for our car that would have cost you $20 from another source. The install instructions lacked details in a few spots I needed them but in general were plenty good enough I could get the job done. The product shipped quickly, securely and arrived in perfect condition. Maybe if you tried you save a few bucks elsewhere but really not worth it and will probably cost you more in the end.
Pros: Quality speaker at a good price. Good clarity.
Cons: Bass not quite as strong as I would have hoped.
In terms of getting what you pay for, these speakers are excellent. They do lack bass, but you should have known that before you hit the 'purchase' button. Pair them with an amp and woofer and you're good to go.
Talk radio only... Everything else sounds terrible
these are great speakers . they sound awesome. very reasonably priced great bang for your buck.
Pros: easy to install with the master sheet provided with your order . perfect fit in my pontiac g5
They were a nice fit for the blown front door speakers on my 98 Blazer. The mounting bracket required a bit of work on the rear portion so I drilled two extra holes. Not an issue for me. All the mounting hardware and wires were otherwise a drop in fit, one of the reasons that I nave been dealing with Crutchfield for so many years. Sound quality on these Pioneers were very good and I am very pleased with my purchase.
Pros: Excellent, well rounded sound.
Cons: Slightly low on the base end but they're still very good.
Excellent bang for my buck speakers were a perfect fit and a much needed upgrade for My 2004 Trailblazer as always crutchfield was very helpful in picking the right speakers for my needs
Pros: perfect fit and sound
I'm not a speaker critic, which is why I bought an inexpensive pair (to replace a blown speaker), but I think they sound great. The first one I put in wasn't centered in the opening (it was too high) which prevented me from getting the door panel back on, but it was easy to re-do (I had to drill now holes in the enclosures since the speakers weren't exactly the same size as factory - this was easy to do)>
Bought the pioneers for door replacement for 07 GMC Canyon. Step by step instructions provided are great!!!! Wiring adapters provided by Crutchfield are Perfect fit. ! hour start to finish for both speakers. I had to drill the 4 holes for each speaker but everything was included to make this a no brainer....Thanks Crutchfield for the great price, great customer service, great instructions and fast shipping. Lots of speakers to choose from in this price range. I can't compare them to the others but these pioneers are a HUGE improvement over the stock speakers.
Pros: Very easy to install with the great Crutchfield adapters and instructions!
Cons: NONE AT ALL
Purchased to replace stock speakers , which were blown . Had to mod the stock mount to make them work which was cake . They fit perfect in the a-pillar.
Pros: Great sound . Small enough to fit in a-piller.
Cons: Nothing really
These speakers are just what I needed to get the sound back in my 2007 Trailblazer.
Pros: Direct fit, easy installation.
Cons: None yet.
for the money they are ok I am happy with them
Bought these to replace the oem ones in a 1999 Nissan Sentra good fit and nice sound
Pros: Cheap and easy to install
Cons: oem type connectors not included
My rear factory speakers were shot, so I needed to replace them. I bought two sets and replaced the front ones as well. These speakers are a very nice upgrade over the factory ones, however, as with many of the lower end models of speakers, you don't get the bass response. The clarity is much better. Overall, I am happy with these for the price. CRUTCHFIELD gets 5 stars, as always!
Pros: Clarity treble and midrange are great nice price easy install
Cons: not enought bass
The speakers lack the punch of the Chevy factory speakers they were replacing. Considering what they are replacing , I was disappointed.
Pros: Inexpensive, mids/high range ok
Cons: Bass is weak
I was assigned a hand me down company truck, a 06 Sierra Crew Cab SL. The front speakers were blown from the previous drivers blasting Lil Jon and Akon. I ordered these because it would be a non reimbursable expense. Dollar for dollar, they sound incredible for what they are. Its a stock stereo, I dont need hard hitting stuff. Clean sound and no rattles, and even has a LITTLE bit of 'punch', but what do you expect for this price?
Pros: Great value, Clear Sound, easy to install, hardware included.
Cons: No Cons really, What can you expect for this price?
I have had these speakers in my 99 Honda Passport for two years now and I love them. They have a good full range. The Mids and Highs are extremely good. They are a great price and sound for someone on a budget. After installing my Rockford amp and 2 Punch 12" woofers, my budget got cut back. I am not a competition person so I figured I would try these. They are great. For all the Na Sayers out there, well one, you either have no real knowledge of a system and expect too much from this size speaker ( meaning they think it shuld boom the bass), or you are just looking at price and have enough of mommy and daddy's money to spend.
Pros: Good high's and mid's. Great price for what you get.
Cons: none so far.
excellent sound fit perfectly into my CRV
Pros: sound quality and fit into factory holes with no alterations to the doors or panels
These speakers replaced the non-bose stock speakers in a 2004 Trailblazer Ext. The sound difference is huge. These speakers won't blow your mind, but the sound is above average for their cost, I really can't complain. They installed with ease using the wiring harness I also got from crutchfield. Some slight mod to the existing speaker mounts from the vehicle was needed, but it was very simple to complete following the directions. The reviewers who complain about lack of bass are asking too much of these speakers-if they want thumping bass, they are gonna have to pay for it-buy the right speakers, amp, and mounting box etc!!!
Pros: Great sound at an affordable price. Much, much better than factory.
Cons: Nothing really, they perform well.
Installed in Doors with slight modification and cut holes in factory kick panels for another pair, total of two pairs in the front stage of my 99 Dodge Dakota extended cab. Powered by Kenwood 5 Ch. amp and partnered with a kicker 10" L5, the system is very balanced. I dynamatted the doors and rear cab and was able to get decent mid base. Buying two pairs of these speakers allowed me a little more cash flow to invest in some good sound proofing. I took a gamble on these and it paid off. Hopefully they last a while. If you have an amp that can adjust frequency range, these speakers are great! 5 stars from me.
Pros: If coupled to the right amp with built in crossovers and frequency adjustment, they are excellent with a little tuning. The magnets are very shallow and allowed me to install them in the factory kick panels
Cons: Took a while to get them dialed in.
Nice clean sound
Pros: nice looking speakers, really clean sound
Cons: Could handle a little more bass but high clear sound makes up for it
Bought these to replace all 4 speakers in a Honda CRV and the difference is huge over factory speakers. They're an easy inexpensive upgrade. Installation was dead simple. If you're an audiophile looking for sonic perfection don't buy inexpensive speakers and expect magic. But if you're looking for really good sound at a great price and an easy upgrade over factory, definitely consider these speakers.
Pros: Great price Good sound across the frequency spectrum Easy install Quality product
No real bass. Sounds good for high and lows. Cant expect much for 50.00
Pros: price, cheap upgrade
Cons: no bass
Bought these to replace all the speakers in my Cherokee as a couple had died, didn't expect to be wowed by a pair of speakers for $50, but these are great! They're no substitute for a subwoofer, but I listen to a lot of bass-heavy rock and electronic music and they really support the low end. They don't do the huge thumping if you are looking for being able to feel the bass in a hip-hop song, you need bigger speakers. They definitely cover the whole range, I didn't have to do much EQing at all with these speakers, treble isn't too harsh, all the mids are there and as I said the bass is surprisingly good for the small size and price. Volume is pretty good, not super loud, but I can still roll all the windows down and blast the volume and use the car as an outdoor stereo. Installation was pretty straightforward, the Crutchfield installation kit was great, all the hardware I needed, and it came with adapters that plugged right into the speakers and into my car's stock speaker plugs. Highly recommend these for replacements on a budget. Final note: the bass on these is good for most music, but NOT HUGE BODY THUMPING BASS like most people seem to look for, also be sure to use your EQ to get the most out of these!
Pros: Full frequency response from treble to bass, good volume, cheap, great service and installation supplies from Crutchfield!
Cons: Electrical terminals on the back needed to be bent into position, Grill housings were flimsy (used the stock ones in my car instead) NOT FOR BIG THUMPING BASS get a sub for that.
Well worth the money. I replaced the front door speakers in my 96 Honda civic coupe with these, and I am very satisfied. Very easy to install with the kit provided by crutchfield. They do not have alot of bass to them, but its there. The highs are crisp and pretty clear, the mids were lacking a little in comparison but still sounded very good. For the money these speakers are great. If you are looking for heavy bass, by a Sub! But if you are just want good sound quality at a good price i would say these are a good set to purchase. I am sure once i install the rest of my system installed they will be a great compliment to the overall sound. These were recomended to me by a crutchfield agent via chat. So incase anybody was wondering yes the chat agents can assit youwell with what you are looking for.
Pros: Clear and Crisp Great replacemnet speakers
Cons: none that i can think of
These speakers are okay only if you need some sort of sound. They do not produce any sort of bass what so ever. They sound hollow, and leave you wanting more. I would not buy these again.
Cons: No Bass Hollow Sound
If it wasnt so much work to take them back out i would return them.
Not impressed with the speakers at all.
Pros: Nice box, good packing and they smell good! Good trebble.
Cons: Cheaply made, very fragile and poor sound quality. Poor mids, poor bass.
I installed these in the rear doors of my 2010 GMC Sierra Crew non Bose with Pioneer TS-A1674R's in the front doors. The 1644r's are not much better then stock, in fact I put my stock ones back in and will be returning these as they provide more bass. These sound OK loud but distort when you put a hint of bass to them. These can go louder then my factory speakers but get a little bright. If you are running these with a sub then you are OK but if you want both sound and better bass then stock, go up to the 1674r's or something else. With the 1674r's they don't distort under the same amount of bass but are really bright if you have factory tweeters like I do...
Pros: Cheap and sound good loud if you take all the bass out of them, best run with a subwoofer
Cons: Cheap, distort under any amount of bass
Nice set of speakers! A perfect replacement for the subpar factory speakers that come with the Honda Civic.
Bought These speakers as first aftermarket set ever. Installed in my 2007 cobalt coupe in the front doors and rear deck. Front doors sound amazing with clarity way above and beyond the stock speakers. However i am very disappointed in the bass and mids in these speakers. I was told by a rep that these were the best "bang for my buck" speakers. Overall i do like the speakers but the bass is just awful. Its not loud bass, its very distorted, and has a poor sound quality to it. My stock 6x9's and door speakers hit harder but the sound quality overall is better in the pioneer. I will be returning the one set i installed in the rear deck and replace them with some 6x9's
Pros: Great clarity and sound quality for country and rock type music. Great for front door speakers.
Cons: Absolutely awful bass for any type of music with any low end to it. Don't use anywhere but a front door because they are good for just highs and clarity.
After reading other reviews and having these speakers recommended by the Crutchfield advisor, I had hoped for better sound. The speakers were a perfect fit for my 2006 Civic sedan. The OEM Honda radio is what it is and will never pump out more sound. I realize now to get a significant increase in audio, I will need to invest in more than just speakers.
Pros: Exact OEM replacement fit. Very easy to install.
Cons: Mid-range still sounds muddled at lower volumes.
Factory speakers were blown in my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee when I bought it. Needed replacements. Bought these and they sound great. I was on a budget, and the low cost and high power rating (250W max. output) is what appealed to me when buying these speakers. I bought two pairs of these and they installed easily. I just clipped the factory wiring harnesses for all 4 doors of my Jeep and routed the factory wiring directly to my new speakers. Don't let the budget-line price fool you, these speakers look great and pack a punch!
Pros: High power rating, good looks, ease of installation, good price
Cons: None, they look and sound great
I'm writing this review primarily to let people know that this product DOES fit in the back of a 1999 Toyota Tacoma. Just use the factory screws with the 6 3/4" tabs and you don't need any other hardware. Note: my truck had factory speakers, so the wiring and cutouts were already there. These speakers sound MUCH better than the stock, so as soon as I can I'm getting another pair for the front doors. As soon as I installed these and turned on the radio, the difference in sound was profound. Definitely worth the price!
Pros: Easy install, don't need anything except the supplied wiring adapter. almost an exact replacement for the factory speakers. Sound is really good with my Alpine head unit, very little distortion except at VERY high volume.
Cons: None as far as the speakers. Crutchfield's installation database needs updated to let people know that these speakers fit with little or no modification.
Good speakers not the best but for the price you can't beat it.they have great high and low range for a 2 way.
I ended up returning these. They are decent speakers and a good value for the price, but the mids sounded a bit harsh in my application. The low end started out a bit harsh as well, but that did take care of itself after they "broke in" after a few days.
Cons: harsh mids
These give slightly better response than stock speakers when new, but since these are poly, they have less distortion. Also, these should hold up better. These are slim and sound good. Bass levels are about double what I could get out of the older, paper cones from GM. I can turn the stock head unit up and get very little distortion.
Pros: Low cost, good sound, upgrade/replacement. Easy to install.
Cons: Screw tabs should/could be a little longer. These are rated for 5.75" drop in, but really are 5.5" and barely stay in place in the doors. Really, they want washers, which don't come in the bag.
Another great Pioneer product and Thanks to Crutchfield for the easy installation kit.
Pros: Great sound for the price and kit makes the installation simple
Cons: No issues at all
Kept my OEM head unit and switched out OEM speakers for these. Exceptional clarity. Especially impressive in the mid and high frequencies. Nice fit and finish. Well balanced; a little weak in the bass area, but meet/exceed expectations for a $50 6.5" speaker.
Pros: mid frequencies, highs. Clarity, balance. Can't beat Crutchfield for ease of installation and purchase/delivery.
Cons: Little weak in the bass area
At the recommendation of a crutchfield advisor, I got these to replace the buggy factory speakers in my Suburban. The installation was a snap and the sound is incredible! The bass is much stronger than I expected and the highs are nice and crisp. Much better than I anticipated for the price. I highly recommend!
I actually got these to replace a set of Polk DXi650S which were supposed to replace some worn out Kicker KS60's in my 97 Escort. I bought the Polk's because they were what the Crutchfield adviser recommended and one of the few speakers that would fit and not hit the tweeter on the door panel. While they did have pretty good build quality I was never really happy with them, the sound was really shrill and gave me a headache. Then I heard these Pioneer's in person and realized that they sounded a lot better than the Polk's and for half the price! Crutchfield says these don't fit in my car but this has to be an error because they fit fine with no modifications. Now that they are broken in they easily sound 20 times better than the Polk's! They have a pretty flat response curve, better detail than the Polks, and the bass isn't bad for a speaker of this size. I have them running off a Pioneer headunit with a JBL GTO804 sub for the low end and my system sounds great. I know these aren't the best speakers that you can get but for the price they are hard to beat. I would recommend them to anybody.
Pros: Sound quality, Price
Cons: They can only handle 40W RMS. Didn't try them first.
Purchased these to replace the rear door speakers in my older Tahoe. The fit perfectly and sound better than stock.
Pros: Idiot proof with the harness adapter.
The speakers on my 2001 Dodge Dakota with the Infinity radio option were toast. Still a good truck ,but I didn't want to spend a fortune on a vehicle with 140k miles. These speakers actually have clearer sound and tighter bass than the originals, which had paper cones. The downside is they can't deliver quite as deep bass notes (paper cones are good at that). That said, I think more expensive speakers would not have done better. Undoubtedly, they deliver better sound from 50 to 20k Hz, but they are designed to be installed with a separate woofer - something I didn't want to mess with on an old truck. These speakers are rated to 32Hz. Because the Infinity system has separate tweeters, I saw no reason to install speakers that included a tweeter. With reasonable expectations, you will be impressed.
sounds good, easy to install in factory speaker location
Pros: crisp clean sound
Cons: included hardware is cheap
When I purchased my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee, all four stock speakers were blown. Rather than trying to find some stock speakers, I purchased these. I didn't want to spend too much, but I wanted great sound quality, so I got two pairs of these to put in the doors of my Jeep. They worked great and hooked right up to the stock wiring in the doors of my Jeep, and when paired with a Sony radio, they sound great. They're barely noticeable from behind my Jeep's stock speaker grilles, however, speaker grilles were included if I would have needed to remove my factory speaker grilles. These are a great purchase if you want to replace your vehicle's stock speakers, or if you want to buy speakers and don't want to spend too much money!
Pros: 250w max power rating, Sound great, Look great, Excellent build quality, Splices easily to factory speaker wiring, Barely noticeable appearance, Installed easily
Cons: None, they're great speakers!
Put these in my family's tahoe after I blew the rear speakers with Ice Ice Baby on the radio. Got them somewhere else, but I had to get the adapters for the GM trucks separately, so it ended up costing me more than here, but I won't get caught up on that. The installation was very simple. I just had to drill some new holes for the mounting (some were more precarious than others as far as location), and plugged in the adapter so it was tremendously easy compared to the front set. One thing I noticed before they were broken in was how smooth the highs were compared to the sometimes-too-crisp fronts. I liked them in the beginning for this and the fact that they sounded warmer than the others, but after a while the highs got lost in the rest of the music and I had to depend more on the fronts. The lows are very nice however. They are more prominent than the Sony 4 ways I have in the front, so again, like before with the stock speakers, the lows are at least there, just not in massive amounts like one would have with a small sub. As far as how they sound at those low frequencies, they begin distorting easily, but then again, I'm just running off the stock HU. If you need something for a shallow mounting area, I would recommend these as long as you don't listen to your music that loud. They are about 3/4ths an inch more shallow than the stock 6.5s that came with the Tahoe, but the distortion is easier to hear compared to the OEMs.
Pros: smooth, soft highs, good depth
Cons: distorted mids at higher volumes
Good fit and very good sound and easy to install
One of the four I installed as factory replacements had a problem with the insulated speaker connection at the speaker. After a few days of use the front right speaker started crackling during play. A subsequent inspection revealed that the Pioneer speaker connector had dislodged but the factory cable was still secured. Closing the door should not break the connection, I surmise the connector at the speaker is too flimsy, This speaker was not repairable and was replaced. The sound is reasonable for a factory replacement speaker.
Pros: Good sound upgrade over the factory speakers.
Cons: Flimsy sub-par construction of the speaker connectors. Be very gentle when connecting at the speaker.
Nice upgrade for my 2003 Sonoma Brought out the highs over the stock worn speakers. Gave more bass over stock also. Quick n easy install with Crutchfield's install kit.
Pros: Good price good sound easy install
Cons: Nothing at this time
Sound very good .
I installed these in the doors of my 1991 Geo Storm Hatchback 2 + 2, and the 4" version in the back. Perfect fit, excellent sound. Came with everything I needed. Better then OEM. I know, I bought this car brand new in 1991 and it is still going strong. Never sounded better.
Replaced the front door speakers in my 2004 4runner. Major sound improvement over the OEM. No problems with these speakers. Instructions and mount adapters save a lot of time.
Its a good quality speaker for the price. Definatelg an upgrade from my 2006 Yukon speakers. However, they are pretty flat as far as their range, good highs, but little to no lows. But how much can you ask from a pair of 6.5s? Took a few minutes of tweaking my stereo settings to get a good sounds out of them. Overall I'm pleased with the product.
I installed these in my rear deck to replace the horrible factory speakers. The fit was good but I was very disappointed with the sound. They are not better if not worse than the factory speakers. I have since put in Infinity Reference speakers in which are amazing.
Cons: no bass, and weak sound
I have installed this model of speakers in several cars. They sound good in every car so far, with nice tones, a good bass response without being "thumpy," smooth vocals and music and crystal clear highs. They installed easily and were a very good replacement for the stock Civic speakers
Pros: Easy installation, good tight bass response without "booming" or "thumpy," excellent value for the price
Cons: none so far
great speaker for the price. clean clear and crisp sound
These speakers are a great value. The mids and highs are nice and crisp for a speaker in this price range, but, as noted by others they do lack a little in the low end. If you are looking for a nice, lower priced speaker to go with something along the lines of a small powered sub and not break the bank..... these are a great option. As always, installation is a snap with Crutchfield's included extras. The fittment was perfect in my 06 Civic.
Pros: Great Value, Crisp sound in the mid and higher ranges
Good value, good sound for a low power speaker. Installed in 2011 base model Sentra.
Perfect fit and better than factory sound. Installed on Chevy Trailblazer.
Pros: Great sound and quality
Cons: Installation screws a little too thick and crack the factory plastic bracket
Replaced the factory speakers in my 12 year old Silverado (along with the factory AM/FM radio). Amazing improvement! Great sound for the price.
Pros: excellent customer service, free shipping, clear instructions and all the"stuff" necessary for a quick and easy installation
Good for restoring that nice factory quality sound. Ideal for clarity on highs when treble is desired. All my friends here an instant difference in the sound in my car.
Pros: Clear sound on highs in music.
Cons: If turned to loud bass is destorted.
Decent speakers for the price. Installed on wife's 04 TB Ext into the front doors. She likes them enought that I will purchase a second set for the rear doors this month. Used along with the JVC KW-R500 that was purchased from Crutchfield and installed at the same time.
They sound great! I installed them in my commuter car 1998 Honda Civic EX Coupe. It took me 7 minutes top to do both sides. The speaker wire adapters included with the purchase made life so much easier. No need to splice any wires, just plug and play into stock hardness. Amazing quality, better than old stock. Crutchfield is the best, even though I could have bought them locally, I choose Crutchfield for all my electronic needs. Can't beat Free shipping and zero tax for California.
Pros: Perfect fit for my application, just plug an play. No modification required. Great price for the value.
nice loud speakers with good highs and bass.
Pros: great value for price. sounds good with any kind of music.
Cons: none so far
GOOD CLEAR SOUND WITHOUT ANY DISTORTION
Pros: GOOD EASY INSTALL WITH GREAT INSTRUCTIONS
Put these in my small sedan...let's just say Im glad I bought them. Affordable and great quality sounding.
Pros: -Affordable -Great Sound -Easy Install (Alittle Wire cutting and Twisting Wires)
Replaced the front speakers with these in my 2004 Subaru Forester. They sound great. Much better than stock.
Pros: Sound is very crisp. I now can hear the treble which was very hard to set on the stock speakers.
Cons: Had to drill the door but I'm not going to take these out again unless I blow them up.
My advisor, Sam, recommended these great sounding speakers, and I've been completely satisfied with them. They sound great with my new JVC radio that I bought with them.
Pros: Price, easy to install, great instructions to follow.
I had done a lot of research before I decided on these speakers. I chose these over a pair of infinitys simply because of the price and the ratings that they were given. Crutchfield sent an installation manual (Although I didn't need it) AND wiring harness to plug into the factory harness in the door panel, how convenient? Only took my 30 minutes to install both speakers in my 2000 Silverado ext. cab Z-71. I couldn't be happier with these. They play LOUD and CLEAR. Like most people say they really lack in the bass, but it wasn't what I bought them for, I bought them for the clarity and that's what I got. They took a week or so to be broken in but once they were broken in they sounded even better. I can blast them at 30 out of 35 on my kenwood headunit before they start to distort. I couldn't imagine listening to them any louder then that anyways! Overall I'm VERY pleased with these speakers, especially for the price. A+ for Crutchfield, and Pioneer for providing me with such a good product.
Pros: Clear Loud Easily Installed
Cons: Lacking bass...Well there's almost no bass really. But I'm not complaining because I have a subwoofer for that.
Like it ver much!
Bought gift for spouse for Christmas, and he loves em! Easy to install. They replaced his 7-yr old speakers in his truck
Back door speaker needs to be drilled out to reuse bracket, Not listed in install guide.
Pros: Easy Install on Front Door Not Back door
I installed these speakers in the front doors of my 2002 Saturn L100. My OEM speakers were totally blown (cone wasn't attached to foam surround anymore). I didn't end up using a speaker adapter. The OEM speakers have a plastic frame so I cut out the old speaker and used the frame as an adapter. It worked out great although the tweeter in these speakers just barely touches the grill in the door panel. Anyway back to the speakers; the mids are about like my OEM speakers but the highs are more pleasant to listen to. The bass is decent. They punch well and also have nice bass. I think that it will get better as they break in.
Pros: Good sound.
Got these because of the price, and they are definitely better than the factory door speakers in my 2005 Honda Pilot. But they do have limitations. The Crutchfield adviser I spoke with before purchasing said that these were for primarly geared towards hip-hop, rap, etc. He was absolutely right. They are solid when I play those kinds of music, clear sound and decent bass for the speaker size. But when I play rock or jazz tracks the highs can be piercing (not in a good way). Any live tracks also suffer from a "sharpness" that forces you to turn the sound way down. So if your fave music is what the kids are listening to these days, then this is an inexepensive yet effective upgrade to OEM speakers. But if you listen to a wider range, you might want to go with something else.
These are the best for replacing your roll bar speakers! I can actually hear them and they sound very crisp and clear. Even with the front to back fader set at 0, I can still hear them! They require VERY little power to put out great sound. I have a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and crutchfield says they won't fit in the 2011... but they EASILY fit in my 2012. My factory head unit only puts out 6-8 watts rms per channel and they have decent bass! So I can only imagine what it will sound like when I replace my head unit with something that has at least 20 rms x 4. No need for a 4-channel amp with these! Thanks for having the best price on these Crutchfield!

Mounting: The speaker basket has multiple mounting holes and is designed to fit a standard 3-hole 6-1/2" application, Ford's 4-hole 6-1/2" application, and a standard 4-hole 6-3/4" application. (When mounting in a 6-3/4 application, use a speaker baffle to seal the inner ring of screw holes.)

The speakers sound super for their size...very happy with that but I think I have one that the grille did not fit well...and it is bent up pretty bad...not good for a $30,000 street rod. The do not rattle however they mount...its been way too long ago to remember how they mount...sorry. [ PHOTOGRAPHY BY Dec 02, 2014 ]
I used these with no crossover and worked just fine. I don't feel necessary with this level speaker. With a separate mid/tweeter then yes to filter the frequency or with a sub woofer then certainly. [ RYAN J Jul 26, 2014 ]
No [ Robert Jul 12, 2014 ]
I installed them in the doors of my 2013 Silverado and it definitely brought out the bass. The door itself acts as an enclosure and it boosts the bass response. You will be pleased with the sound after installation. [ ROY Jun 03, 2014 ]
yes, a speaker has to have an enclosure behind them to sound full [ B Jun 03, 2014 ]
The doors will act like boxes for the speaker as long as you connect all the wires correctly using the wire adapters from crutchfield that should not be a problem the speakers will sound better then the factory ones [ BRENDA Jun 03, 2014 ]
I've found that these do not provide much in the way of midbass, they provide mostly highs. I'm really pleased with their sound considering the price, but if you want a stronger midbass I'd recommend something more expensive. [ ADAM G Jun 03, 2014 ]
Hi Don, I installed mine into the doors and they worked fine.. I did put in the baffles and it keeps the sound in the truck instead of reverb in the doors. [ CHRIS Jun 03, 2014 ]
Both [ Robert May 27, 2014 ]
It was a pair [ DAVID May 27, 2014 ]
No it's both of the speakers and the covers [ KAYLA May 27, 2014 ]
If thats the 4 in speakers....it is for 2 of them....they have great sound....very pleased...they are in a lead sled and mounted next to each other in the orig speaker area....could not want a better sound for the money. [ PHOTOGRAPHY BY May 27, 2014 ]
Kyle the purchase price covered the purchase of both speakers, grills and shipping. I put them in the front doors of a 95 full size chevy van instead of trying to replace the speakers in the dash. They sound very good, but I am not the type to play a stero at full volume. for me they were a very good value...............Joe [ JOSEPH May 26, 2014 ]

I installed these to replace factory speakers in all four doors of my car. Bass isn't booming but they'll handle a lot of bass. 250w is their max rating. [ Vincent Apr 09, 2014 ]
The amount of bass is the main reason I purchased these speakers for my pickup truck. The truck has very limited space for a subwoofer so I needed speakers that could reproduce a lot of bass for their size. These Pioneers do just that. They sound great. [ ROY Jan 01, 2014 ]
I am really pleased with these speakers...they are in a 49 chevy fleetline car. I have 2 of the 4 in in the orig grille in the dash together and the 6 in speakers in the rear. Everyone who has listened to my system are very impressed with the quality and sound...me included. For the money, they are a super buy. Hope this helps. [ PHOTOGRAPHY BY Dec 31, 2013 ]
if you set them for that then it would be moderate. I had tweet on top so I couldn't tell most of my bass was emiting from my 6x9's and 12in in the rear. I hope this helps. Oh the do sound like quality over my stock system. [ Robert Dec 31, 2013 ]
